What 2010s Sentai do you think could get a "10 years later" celebration? I honestly think it could be Lupat, since I regularly see Lupat stuff at the top of jp sentai polls
extremely dependent on cast availability more than anything which is impossible to predict, but general vibes at this point in time:
toqger: jun shison and ryusei yokohama are probably too big to get back for sentai these days and im not sure if toqger has the popularity necessary to shill for them the way toei likely had to do to get yamada back for gokai 10, but then again i keep hearing rumblings about boonboomger having toq stuff planned later?? who knows, but really we already had a reunion movie in toq returns so im not sweating it
ninninger: lol. i mean the cast is still very close from what i can tell so they'd probably be down for it but i don't know if toei would go for it since it didn't land critically or financially. they should do it anyway and give me more trans kyuuemon moments
zyuohger: i really can't see this happening if only because leo's actor has been completely off the grid for years now and quit acting entirely. tusk's actor also hasn't really done anything after the show ended and had that whole minor police scandal that killed kyuranger vs zyuohger so i wouldn't hold my breath
kyuranger: this will absolutely happen. they'll get everyone back for it and new gavan will also be there. sakamoto will 100% direct. the worst thing for all of us is that that dipshit subaru kimura will be back to voice whatever new p-bandai bullshit they've got as well as some obnoxious villain and/or side character
lupinranger vs patranger: yeah this'll probably happen. everyone's still acting so far, they all seemed to have enjoyed their time on the show, and it was a hit with fans even if its toys flopped hard. maybe by 2028 they'll let keiichiro and kairi kiss without cutting away (kairi is lgbt in case you haven't heard)
ryusoulger: this will also happen and it will also be directed by sakamoto. canalo will still not have a wife.

Given the Bow of Darkness, she was remade into his Ranger Slayer for years. Now trapped in this alternate last she is freed. She is less jokey than her younger self, more snarky instead

do you have any recs for sentai/toku series tht have a decent amount of yuri vibes. i'm loving kingoh but i've had a hard time getting into toku in the past because i get bored when things arent about girls
yuri vibes huh... I hear the movie shin kamen rider has yuri energy between ruriko and hachi-aug. and I know there's an arc in kamen rider geats with two female riders who are very yuri. revice also has two female riders. I love maya/yuri from kiva but you have to watch all of kiva to get to them and it's pretty sexist
then a list of some sentai where there's two women on the team and I ship them is

I got bored so I started thinking about the importance of the various Summer Movies for Super Sentai since sometimes they can be completely irrelevant and a wast eof time or will be important to the plot somehow and comeback in a way that makes you wish you saw the movie. (Note I have not seen every Sentai with a Summer Movie and some of these are based purely off of my memory since I haven't rewatched some seasons in forever)
Gaoranger: The Summer Movie is fun to see Gao Knight but literally nothing from it comes back in any meaningful or noticeable to my memory
Hurricaneger: If you wanted to see Tenrai Senpuujin several episodes early, then here you go! This one is just kinda there from what I remember like it's fine but it's placement is awkward and they don't even bother to mention Tri Condor appearing in the movie first at all.
Abaranger: This is a must watch for a multitude of reasons, but the events of this movie do come back during the show in a very big way so it's worth watching.
Dekaranger: It's more Dekaranger go watch it for fun. Dekaranger doesn't even have that big of a plot in the first place so this is just a lot of fun so watch it
Magiranger: This expands more on the lore of the world and does some foreshadowing for other stuff in the show but isn't extremely necessary. Watch it if you want to see Hikaru get bullied for no reason
Boukenger: From what I remember of Boukenger, this movie just advertised that the machines 6-10 could in fact combine and then added another Precious that did not really get talked about again
Gekiranger: I haven't seen all of Gekiranger but I have seen the movie and it debuts an amazing mech form that does come back quite often but it's not like this movie invented completely if that makes sense
Go-Onger: The series takes like two episodes of its runtime to literally bring back the movie characters and general plot so yes you do need to watch it
Shinkenger: The Summer Movie toy appears quite often in the show and post series content so yes do watch this. It's good regardless of its status as necessary anyways one of the best summer movies
Goseiger: The Summer Movie toy shows up I think a totalc of one extra time in the series and they don't even bother to reference that it came from the movie like at all its honestly not worth the time
Gokaiger: it's a fun time but nothing that happens in the movie changes or develops anything we didn't already know about the cast and their end goals. (Watch the vs Gavan movie though that shit is fire)
Kyoryuger: The Summer Movie cast, toy, and villain all come back in the main series and while they do provide minor context it's good to know the full movie regardless. It's also just super fun anyways
ToQger: not super necessary since it never gets directly mentioned until a Vs. Movie but this is genuinely one of the best movies they've made and when you watch ToQger along with this movie you'll understand
Ninninger: The most I can say about this movie is that the mech shows up the Vs ToQger movie for like 2 minutes which was neat
Zyuohger: This movie was cool but the mech and general plot I wanna say only get brought up like once for a quick reminder that it existed I think? Also Yamato gets beaten up a lot in this movie as is Zyuohger tradition
Kyuranger: Genuinely I was so excited to see the summer toy in this movie and I could not tell you a si gle thing that happens and neither can the cast of characters cause they never once bring it back
LuPat: Surprisingly yes this is necessary for something that happens at the end of the show. If you know, you know.
Ryusoulger: This is one of the more recent seasons + movie I watched and quite honestly I could not tell you much of what happens in the movie because for as much build up in the series led up to it, it impacted the story so minimally the show does a perfect job of summing it up without wasting the time it took to watch the movie. Whatever lore they dropped in the movie, you get in the show but at least seeing the lore in action is cool instead of not seeing it
Kiramager: Okay technically not a Summer Movie due to COVID but it counts in my heart forever. This is somewhat necessary they built it up a bit with the main villain being name dropped before her appearance and then they reference it in the literal last episode but its not like you're missing much if you choose to not watch it. I do recommend seeing it though for a certain scene. If you know, you know.
Donbrothers: The most recent movie and honestly I could not tell you if it was necessary at all considering the show isn't over but Inoue did bother to spend a whole two minutes to reference the movie happening and a single scene referencing it did happen so yknow. Go for it. I will say it is fucking hilarious and I couldn't breath at some points

My, this is quite the turn of events.
What the hell happened in the past two weeks while we were gone, Donbrothers? We've got a funny red man, a blue monkey and a yellow oni who're a pair of losers, a pink bird wife guy turned epic divorce man, a jailhouse black dog, and a bunch of autistic kids hanging out in the void by themselves! ...also a Tiger/Dragon system apparently just off to the side, which is quite unusual for a Sixth Ranger.
Also, uh... yesterday morning, Kohei Murakami, who played Kusaka in Faiz and Bud in Zyuohger, after asking if his followers saw episode 36 of Donbrothers, shared a picture of Inoue captioned "Toshiki Kabedon", which is uh... exactly what you might imagine it'd be. I know I don't usually show pictures, but I find this deeply compelling. Look at his goddamn face. Look at it. That is a man who knows.
Anyways, Spoilers I guess beneath the cut~!

Kisekae Insights #40: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger Part 2
Tumblr media
And we’re back with Gokaiger, covering the TV Movie Special, the final four episodes and the Space Squad trilogy. You’ll know about the fate of our villains and the rise of new villains that will bridge us to the end of our Doctor Who.
Having the equivalent of 28 half-hour episodes made it impossible to implement everything from Gokaiger when this series combined elements from three other Super Sentai series and featured a number of post-Gokaiger Gokai Changes. As I’ve said before, I could have given myself more episodes to adapt more episodes from the original series, but then again, this reduced episode count has allowed me to cut through the fluff even if it ended up becoming the concentrated cash grab it is with every episode featuring a new Zord or power.
TV Movie Special: Disciples of the Black Cross
Adapted from Gokaiger episodes 10 and 33, the 199 Heroes movie and the summer movies for Gokaiger and Boukenger.
This movie introduces the three Ancient Ranger teams, namely the Gorengers, JAKQ and Dairangers, voiced by the casts of ABC shows Shaun Micallef’s MAD AS HELL and The Checkout along with Sammy J and Randy. The Black Cross King portion of the 199 Heroes movie is adapted for this movie.
This movie is also the only time where the Megazords for Ranger teams who do not have Megazords are shown. It’s explained that UNIT were building Megazords for each of the teams thanks to funding from the United Nations, but their blueprints for the new Megazords were lost following the conclusion of the fight with the Black Cross Fortress.
The ending theme of this movie is Super Sentai Hero Getter 2016, following its use in episodes 8 and 9 as a special ending theme.
Episode 10: Homunculus Fall
Adapted from Gokaiger episodes 35, 36, 37 and 38 and Boukenger episodes 40, 41 and 42.
Emperor Mavro and his men make their debut in this episode in preparation for the series’ endgame. This episode features the culmination of the Questers’ plans from their gathering of the components for the Ultimate Quester from Damaras, Fifteen and Bangrey. It also shows the creation of the Turbo Falcon Zord from the data of the racecars at Silverhatch Racetrack.
After the Gokaigers fail to fight the Ultimate Quester with the Legendary Q-Rex Megazord, they head into a pocket dimension to tame the Turbo Falcon Zord when it goes on a rampage due to each of the racecars’ consciousnesses fighting each other for domination. In the end, Roary comes out as the dominant mind before the Gokaigers destroy the Ultimate Quester in the Legendary Turbo Megazord before using the Go-Ongers’ powers to defeat the Questers for good.
Episode 11: The Megabeast Hunter Strikes Back
Adapted from Gokaiger episodes 37, 38, 42, 43, 48 (the last three are only really adapted symbolically) and Zyuohger episodes 34 and 35.
Unable to capture either Cube Whale or the Ultimate Quester, Bangrey decides to set his sights on the Turbo Falcon Zord instead.
During the plot to deceive Bangrey with a fake Turbo Falcon Megazord, it is revealed that Bangrey could summon the fake Gokaigers without needing to scan anyone’s minds because after scanning the Doctor’s memory five times, he has a backup of his memories and can summon anything from them anytime he wants. When the other Gokaigers are seemingly killed, it’s revealed that they survived by using the Ninningers’ Megazord Powers to hide in the ground. The Ultimate Legendary Megazord is formed and Bangrey is defeated.
Episode 12: Shining Friendship Galaxy
Adapted from Gokaiger episode 41.
The Gokaigers are called to Equestria to help them find Doctor Whooves, the Pony Doctor and Storm Dasher, who have gone missing. Spike makes his debut as Ultraman Victory before Storm Dasher makes his debut as Ultraman Ginga. Dasher is also revealed to have become an alicorn during his absence from Equestria.
Zatsurig is also revealed to be the host of Dark Lugiel, revealing himself after Zatsurig’s defeat at the hands of the Ultimate Legendary Megazord. Dasher sends some Spark Dolls and Ginga Light Sparks to the Gokaigers, allowing them to transform into Ultramen (based on Ultraman Orb’s Fusion Up components) to defeat Dark Lugiel’s summoned monsters, Tyrant, Five King and Magata no Orochi. Ginga and Victory defeat Dark Lugiel with the help of the Mane Six using the Elements of Harmony alongside Princess Celestia, Princess Luna and Starlight Glimmer.
At the end of the episode, Storm Dasher is crowned Prince Storm Dasher, Protector of Equestria. Doctor Whooves and the Pony Doctor are saved as well just as UNIT HQ makes contact with the Gokaigers, asking them for immediate assistance…
Episode 13: Defenders of the Earth
Adapted from Gokaiger episodes 1, 49, 50 and 51, the 199 Heroes Movie and Power Rangers episodes Countdown to Destruction (Part Two) and The Legendary Battle: Extended Edition.
While the Gokaigers were in Equestria, Prince Vekar and his generals invaded Earth enmasse. The other Rangers defeat Prince Vekar and his generals before sacrificing their powers to eliminate his fleet. However, this was just a feint as Emperor Mavro orders the second fleet to advance, forcing the Rangers to retreat.
As the Gokaigers rush back to Earth, the other Rangers’ powers go into the Ranger Keys before they form the Zaferian Tregenie Uniwish (from the name Zaferia Stones, if you know you know). The story follows the Sentai more than its Power Rangers counterpart did as aside from featuring all the past Rangers, there are also appearances from former companions Yuki Chesterland and Ian Wright alongside Nayu, Yuzuru and Kanade from earlier episodes. When Redker arrives to begin the slaughter of humanity (yeah, we’re not sugarcoating references to death here, this isn’t just for kids), these former companions and the Ranger Key thief from the first episode lead the resistance against humanity with their “I am a Power Ranger!” proclamations adapted from Countdown to Destruction.
Bangrey’s ship, which was modified by UNIT using parts from fallen Zangyack Armada ships, is used by the Doctor and Kai as they ram into the Gigant Horse to fight Emperor Mavro. During the final fight, I decided to break the rules due to the amount of teams featured, meaning that certain Ranger teams are represented more than once. One of the non-Silver Rangers also morphs into a Sixth Ranger during the fight, but who cares, I was already striving to be better than what Super Megaforce was.
After Emperor Mavro was defeated, I adapted the final battle scene of The Legendary Battle featuring all the Rangers, having had their powers returned to them, fighting the remaining Zangyack troops alongside the Gokaigers. The “Hello, old friend!” scene with Cyber Knight is done with GokaiSilver in a slight to Super Megaforce. Then, the ending of the episode goes back to Gokaiger again.
Space Squad Part 1: Sheriffs of the Shadow Proclamation
The first post-series movie for Gokaiger features the formation of the Space Squad, a group established by the Shadow Proclamation featuring the Gokaigers, Ultramen Ginga, Victory and X, and Space Sheriffs Gavan, Sharivan and Shaider. Other Ranger teams featured in the movie are the Zyurangers, Kakurangers, Ohrangers, Hurricangers, Dekarangers and Ninningers.
As the Rangers are fighting off Zangyack Armada remnants, the existence of the intergalactic criminal conglomerate Fūmakūdō (made up from the names of the Space Sheriffs’ villain groups) is brought to their attention, hoping to take over the vacuum created by Zangyack’s defeat and continue where they left of. The Space Squad are split up into three groups to fight Zangyack remnants on Tivoli (whose inhabitants didn’t want them to leave), San Helios (which has been recolonised after it was devoured by alien stingrays) and Raxacoricofallapatorius.
The Space Squad are then called back to Earth after Ashurada activates the Axis Converter and opens a portal to the Makū Dimension. Inside the Makū Dimension, Kai reunites with Gavan’s predecessor, who once saved him from a burning building when he was a child and brings their meeting full circle by freeing him.
The ending theme for this movie is JUMP by Tsuyoshi Matsubara and Akira Kushida from the Gokaiger vs. Gavan movie.
Space Squad Part 2: Ultramen of Friendship and Magic
The focus shifts to the Ultramen for the second movie as Equestria and the Space Squad are alerted to Dark Lugiel’s return. The Space Squad are split into five groups and sent to investigate pools of darkness in different places of Equestria alongside Storm Dasher, Doctor Whooves and the Pony Doctor. The pools of darkness turn into Dark Lugiel copies which when defeated, become various monsters and footsoldiers. After those monsters and footsoldiers are defeated, Dark Lugiel is revived and Ginga separates from Dasher to transport himself and Lugiel into a pocket dimension to buy the heroes some time.
Meanwhile on Earth, the Gekirangers, Go-Ongers, Shinkengers, Goseigers and Zyuohgers have been suspended due to them defending their homes against criminals (this is in reference to the apparent crime wave in Melbourne that had been happening since 2016 that Dictator Dan and the left kept denying, leaving devastated victims in their wake). UNIT initially allows the Zyuohgers to be released when a Dark Lugiel copy appears on Earth before the government grants them permission to release the rest of the Girl Power Rangers. They never meet the Space Squad in this movie.
When Stygian apparently turned to darkness and became the Pony of Shadows, he actually became a servant of Dark Lugiel. Just as the Mane Six used the Elements of Harmony to save Stygian from the darkness, they could use it to seal Dark Lugiel into his Dark Spark. Once the heroes are ready, Ginga and Lugiel are brought back from the pocket dimension when the three Ultramen transform, with the Young Six, Doctor Whooves and the Pony Doctor also being granted the means to transform into the Heisei Ultramen.
Lugiel is seemingly defeated by the Ultramen, but his body isn’t complete yet, which leads him to head to Earth in an effort to reabsorb the remaining portion of darkness into himself. The eight Ultramen give their power to Ginga’s Strium Brace, upgrading it into the Ultra Fusion Brace which allows Ginga and Victory to combine into Ginga Victory. With the help of the Mane Six and the Pillars of Equestria, Dark Lugiel is defeated and sealed into the Dark Spark before being thrown into limbo by Dasher.
The ending theme of this movie is Unite 〜君とつながるために〜, the ending theme from Ultraman X.
Space Squad Part 3: The Penance of the Doctor
The Magirangers, Boukengers, Go-Busters, Kyoryugers and ToQgers gather at UNIT HQ as the head of UNIT Central Control, Rastillo Masuron, arrives to inform the UNIT commanders that UNIT Central Control have voted to decommission the Superhero Project and disband the Space Squad, citing budget limitations and ordinary citizens being involved in military operations without their consent. The TARDIS has also been stolen from the hangar on Rastillo’s orders; he materialises it in the Makū Dimension and integrates the Axis Converter into it, causing the TARDIS console to explode and portals to appear on many planets.
As the rest of the Space Squad and the Rangers are sucked into the Makū Dimension to fight Fūmakūdō forces in multiple locations, Rastillo confronts the Doctor on Trenzalore and reveals himself to be Rassilon, the former Lord President of Gallifrey who was banished in Hell Bent. The Doctor is forced to watch as his TARDIS grows bigger and bigger, eventually becoming the tombstone seen in The Name of the Doctor. The rest is explained in #14.
When the Doctor returns from the heart of the TARDIS, Rassilon transforms into Basco’s monster form for the final battle, killing him and destroying his body. In the aftermath, the Doctor hands his Mobirates and Ranger Key to Kai, making him the leader of the Gokaigers, before leaving in the TARDIS. The rest of the Gokaigers decide to go their own ways as well, making a pact to reunite if more monsters come to attack the Earth.
The ending theme for this movie is 運命のしずく〜Destiny's star〜 from the 2010 Ultraman Zero movie.
Post-series: Doctor Who Series 12
With Kai taking on the mantle of GokaiRed, the Gokaigers assist the other heroes in fighting off the Monks in their country for six months. Later at Christmas, the Doctor returns following his regeneration and Kai asks him to fight as GokaiRed again as they work together with the Space Squad and the Kamen Riders to fight the High Council.
Later in Soulbound, the Gokaigers become the only active Ranger team due to budget cuts at UNIT, but they are reinstated briefly for Series 4 following the pandemic. At the end of the series, the Superhero Project disbands again and so do the Gokaigers, though they promise to be there for each other.
With my declining interest in Super Sentai post-Zyuohger, it has led to me putting more and more focus on Kamen Rider over the years. Next time, let’s begin turning the focus over as I begin with my version of Kamen Rider Decade.

How is Takaharu as a father? If he's a really good dad, how does his family react?
Well... I hope he's a good dad? I mean, we don't really have canonical proof either way- his son who was introduced in the crossover with Zyuohger supposedly never met him, iirc, but the movie itself rendered that future defunct. But obviously I wouldn't expect a Sentai hero to be a shitty dad in any case.
I do find it strange that he apparently eloped with his wife without ever telling anyone, not even his dad or sister (he describes himself as a newlywed in the movie), let alone not telling them they were already expecting until the discrepancy of him not questioning the kid's existence despite his supposed death was brought up.
Aside from that though, I don't really see why his family would be surprised he'd be a good dad. I imagine they'd be surprised by him being stern/strict because of his own reckless behavior, but being a good dad... nah.
