I had a dream last night featuring this guy and I am inclined to believe his look is influenced by Gummigoo/the gummigang

I'm 90% sure he's supposed to be soup because I remember making soup in my dream after walking on a downhill road from a "road trip" and encountering a kitchen, and he was born from that soup that was in the pot (he opened his eyes and smiled at me, then he slid out of the pot and took his form)

and then I woke up

I have no name for him yet but he's a very soupy boi, if anyone's got name recommendations shoot it my way

Sorry for being such a poopyhead and letting my negative emotions take ahold of me and control my thought process for nearly 3 days guys anyways self-esteem has been recovered (somewhat) and now I'm just doing a colorblind challenge using Caine to test if I can still paint

(I disabled colors on my screens and therefore CANNOT see any of the colors even in this screenshot, I'm relying purely on values and all I can see are black and whites) (EDIT: Okay, I forgot the exception to this challenge was Caine's eyes because I wanted it to be the same as his original palette just in case this attempt's palette was too unrecognizable.)

I also discovered I like cooking as a hobby during those 3 days of self-reflection. I should stop being terminally online more often

Do you have any personal tips on drawing and rendering wrinkles and folds for your painting? I’ve seen so much of your work and it just fascinates me every time!

Thank you for the slug :3 Now I'm no teacher, but this is usually my thought process when drawing "wrinkles" on a fabric

1st): I like to add one of those "bumps" on the edge of the fabric to emphasize that yes, there are wrinkles there. it pretty much helps the eyes process the idea of wrinkles being present, and it helps making it feel like figure's plausible to exist on a 3D space.

2nd): triangles, loops and zigzag-ing patterns. when I make wrinkles on fabrics, my brain automatically looks for places where "tension" would begin, and then fold everything. This means areas like joints, elbows, armpits, knees, etc. Triangles are a go-to if you want to make tighter fabrics, zigzags are more so for looser clothing depending.

When I draw tighter clothing, I also tend to draw the figure in detail first --ex. if I want to draw a tight shirt, I draw the torso in detail first-- and then adding wrinkles on where they would form after that. References definitely help a lot.

There's also the fact that I always imagine wrinkles to be two areas having a tug of war, but there's no winners

the unaffected areas of wrinkles are also ALWAYS darker (even if ever so slightly), because the wrinkles itself are more exposed to light than the rest of the fabric, except of course, on certain lighting placements. (like the light being shone directly onto the unaffected area)

(this is a commission I'm working on)

Hopefully what I've put here is comprehensible and not overwhelming, I tried my best to explain it as much as possible lol

Sorry for not being as active as I used to be y'all, I haven't been on here because I've been pouring most of my focus into finishing a backlog of commissions and it has unfortunately left me with no energy to interact and socialize here lol

For the past week alone I've been working on this BEAST of a comm, and both me and my setup had a bit of a technical difficulty with just how BIG this specific commission was, in terms of details and quite literally file size too (this was originally a 5000x3000 piece, which caused a lot of black screens and me waiting for my PC to catch up everytime a 15-minute autosave was happening)

I feel like me suddenly being inactive was a necessary thing as well because as much as I don't want to admit it, my socials have been a bit... distracting... in this pursuit, and I am realizing a very concerning problem. And as such, I had to cut off and limit the amount of times I will be present here in an effort to exert self-control and instill discipline on myself.

I do not have anything new to show unfortunately, and may continue to NOT be able to show anything Digital Circus AU or fandom content at all, so all I can say is I'm sorry is this post is disappointing news because you followed me for that kinda thing.

Also I got a tooth infection(?) and a pink eye lol, how fun /s (don't worry though, I'm still fine and not really in a painful situation, just a minor inconvenience)

Hey y'all, this is one of the few times I'm going to be vulnerable

I haven't been feeling the bestest lately, and a part of me is scared that's because I got scratched by a stray cat on my left foot (but I've already gotten my first anti-rabies shot and I HOPE to get my second one today)

My brain tends to assume the worst out of every situations so it's most likely just my stress + massive paranoia causing all my symptoms lately (which align with initial symptoms for rabies) but I'm really fucking scared out of my mind

I guess all I really wanna say is, if I disappear for the next few days, then I'm really sorry

and that I love my friends, and especially my bf, thanks for holding me up and keeping me from falling to the ground on my face, I appreciate every single one of you

I don't wanna tag anyone because it feels like attention points, I'm just.... preparing for the worst case scenario. In case it does end up being that case
