Also a lot of potential for taking cheap shots at each other for all three of em at the start, I'm js.

The air was tense, as expected. If one of her family or close friends on the plane, she’d be raising hell to find them and ensure their safety. It’s safe to say she’s relieved Araya is safe and more than relieved Nisa hadn’t joined the programme yet.

The princess opts against visiting Zhaohui right away after the news hits, despite the strong urge. She knows that he’ll be with his siblings trying to calm each other down as much as possible while trying to figure out next steps to locate their missing sister. The only royal on that plane she directly knew was Meixu; however, it doesn’t make the entire situation any less scary. Mai grows a little impatient, wanting to check up on Zhaohui while also find out if they’ve heard anything. The Jins would theoretically be one the first families to know if new updates came to light.

“Hey,” she says softly, walking towards him, eyes studying his exhausted features, which is understandable. She doesn’t think her next action over (a rarity for Mai), but she finds herself leaning up and wrapping her arms around him in a hug, one hand instinctively going into the hair at the back of his head. “It’s stupid to ask how you’re doing, so I won’t do that. You’re free to let it out, though,” she reassures him.

A-Yao flicked his lighter, the flame burning the end of his cigarette for a few seconds before he let it disappear again. Breath in, hold, breath out, the smoke trapping what was left of the sunlight right above Minshan's head, making for a mesmerizing scene, but not one he hadn't seen before. Curled around A-Yao's waist, Minshan's arm moved with each of his breaths, letting the warmth he felt spread through his body and mind like the smoke filled up the room, slowly and steady, inevitable.

Denying it was useless, Minshan could not help the pride that came along with knowing he was one of the few lucky people who got to see A-Yao like this, indulging in this dirty secret that he thought was so beneath the persona he put up around everyone else. Ever since they met, no, ever since Minshan proved to him that he could be trusted, that he could show him who he truly was without fear of judgment or rejection, A-Yao had been honest with him. For that, Minshan was truly grateful, and he knew A-Yao was too, so relieved to have someone he didn't need to hide from. Gratitude, it seemed, was one of the pillars of their... relationship.

Honesty was another one.

"I'm seeing someone," Minshan said before he could think himself out of it. "Just a few dates, but I think it's going somewhere."

Knocking the ashes on a tray on the bedside table, A-Yao bought himself some time, during which Minshan anxiously searched his face for a reaction he knew wouldn't come. Look at me, he wanted to say. Make me stay.

None of that would happen, he knew, because A-Yao didn't love him like that, and that was a settled matter, one Minshan had made his peace with a long time ago. Of course, that didn't mean his own feelings could be extinguished easily, and it was a good thing that they weren't, otherwise he wouldn't have even this, lazing in the afterglow, hugging A-Yao's waist while he smiled down at him and thought about someone else. Pretty okay, considering Minshan now also had someone else to think about.

Quietly, A-Yao slid down the headboard to lie beside Minshan again, cigarette forgotten on the ashtray, his expression a mix of joy, sadness and resignation, and hugged him tightly. Right as Minshan was about to say something else, A-Yao spoke.

"See, I knew this would happen eventually -- I wanted it to... I want you to be happy, A-Shan -- but now that it's happening, I don't-" he sniffled, but his smile stayed the same as he shook his head, mentally changing tracks right before Minshan's eyes. "Tell me about them."

Under the twilight and A-Yao's attentive gaze, Su Minshan told him. Voicing his feelings made them more real, as if they were vague and tentative, but solidified with each word that reached A-Yao's ears, made real by his reactions.

"When I realized it, we were kissing and I... I didn't want it to stop," Minshan finished and watched as A-Yao's smile grew even brighter.

Xue Zhaohui had asked him one a date, taken his hand and kissed him, and Minshan appreciated the straightforwardness, basked in the ease of being with him. Years had passed since Minshan felt like that, ever since he kissed A-Yao for the first time, and they both knew what that meant.

"Zhaohui better take good care of you," A-Yao said while squeezing Minshan in his arms again, "you deserve it."

in two large swings his drink is done away with — but it did little ail him, maybe he needed another. but then her words set a panic in him, one that rattles him from the inside out; the glass is dropped as he reaches for her. now on his knees as he pleads, head to her hands as he grasps onto them. “no, fuck — i know i really did it this time, but you’ve got to help me, 姐姐. i’ll resign myself to monks in lingyin just please help me.” he’s near hysterics, feeling the shudders rack him. then he pauses, head raised — “wait, why don’t you take her. no one else could do it, you’d be the best mother, 姐姐.” if not him, it should be her — he knew no one better to take care of someone as innocent as a newborn babe.

exhibit b : nisa mahidol. the bond between sisters is a tricky thing. there were thirteen of them, but only nisa was blood. it isn’t much, but for mai, nisa is her one and only. what mai does, it uplifts nisa, in the best way possible. in the competition for the crown, where neither of them were eligible, it was a fight for power: who had the most, that is. and in their court, it was obvious who the general public favored.

The 2022 Winter Olympics officially kicked off with the opening ceremony at Beijing National Stadium on Friday, February 4, 2022. The 2022 Olympics are historic for Beijing, as it becomes the first city to ever host the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics.

Jin Xiuying, Princess of China & Grand Duchess of Huabei (North China), welcomed the competing countries and athletes in a short speech at the opening of the games. She was later seen sitting alongside International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach during the rest of the ceremony.

“On behalf of my family and I, we extend our warmest welcome to all distinguished guests who have traveled to China to attend and compete at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic games ... As we have just entered the Year of the Tiger, according to the lunar calendar: I wish all Olympic athletes an excellent performance with the strength of the tiger. The tiger is a symbol of strength, courage, and fearlessness.”

Other members of the Imperial Family also attended the opening ceremony, seated in the same row. HRH Jin Lixun was later seen speaking to China’s Olympic athletes competing in cross-country skiing. HRH Jin Meixu and HRH Jin Zhaohui attended the figure skating events, and also met with China’s competing Olympians.

The Imperial Family was not the only royalty in attendance. HRH Iretioluwa Olowu of Nigeria, previous gold-medalist, is set to compete in Women’s Singles Skating in the stadium. This will be the Princess’ first time competing since coming out of retirement.
