“ JUST IN GENERAL. how have you been keeping busy ? ”   she asks, both as a sister and as a princess speaking to her closest ally. 

“I’m considering going back to my charity work. I obviously had that on pause since joining here. I miss being involved and leading a charity.”

“You know, I would’ve killed you if you didn’t come back from the brink of death.” She’s clearly glad her friend’s back in full force, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. “We’ve got a lot of making up to do.” With Mimi spending the summer in bed, she’s missed out on a lot of things. “Beyond the gossip you’ve seen on the news, unfortunately not. Things were a bit stagnant.” A frown before she smiles. “I was Biel Bragança’s date to the gala hosted by the Spanish.”

“Please,” Mimi grasped Mai’s manicured hand across the small table, holding it in her own as she pleaded, “say you’ve something interesting to tell me? Something which will make battling my way back from the brink of death worth it?” She was being dramatic (of course.) She’d only had a flu. –But spending an entire summer in bed while the others cavorted around the coast felt like she must have died and gone to hell. “Have you been on any dates? –Have I missed any engagements?” @maismahidol​

“ HAS HE BEEN DISTANT ? ”   if that’s the case, nisa needs to know. right now. or mai needs to change it. all in all, it doesn’t sound like she’s missed anything—which is a little disappointing. she can’t contain her small frown.   “ well, i can help now. have you been working on anything else since i last saw you, or just the usual ? ”

“Not exactly. I mean, we’re doing well. There’s a lot of progress.” He’s no longer acting awkward and tense around her, which is a huge step forward. “But the whole crisis in China is a priority.” A pause. “Working on anything else with Araya or in general? If you have a plan I can aid with, do let me know.” Things have been a tad stagnant for Mai, something she is not used to in the slightest, especially when life outside the programme for her was always busy, busy, busy.

“I think I will be avoiding any and all events that involved running from an intentionally angered animal,” Marisol laughed lightly, smiling at her friend. “I am so happy to see you, and Arturo isn’t drinking so you will have to show me around the wine festival.” 

“It’s been a while. Way too long it’s unacceptable! But I’m glad you’re here, too. The programme is like a cute little reunion for everyone,” she says with a smile. “We’ve got a deal.”

In true Mai fashion, she does a quick twirl at Eloa’s compliment, laughing lightly. “And I love what you’re wearing!” She claps her hands in excitement at her friend’s enthusiasm. “Hm, say in a couple of days? The sooner, the better, honestly!”

“ I’M SERIOUS, MAI. how’s zhaohui ?   do you know where he stands between his siblings ? ”   the more she read about it, the more her head spun.   “ has araya’s thai improved at all ? ”

They had time to discuss business, lots of it. She just wanted to catch up with her sister. “He’s okay. I haven’t really had the chance to discuss that with him because of how things are,” she begins. “Araya’s making slow, but solid improvements. We’re working on it.”

“The memo that you’re not allowed to leave the programme ever again.” To say she was happy to see her sister back sooner rather than later would be an understatement.

“i’ll have to call a bullshit,” although his words were woven with the say gentle tone, he couldn’t believe her ––– everyone had one, knowingly or not. a little spot hide somewhere inside that could destroy everything they believe to known. “but i won’t dismiss leaving early,” his gaze fell down to her, lips growing a tad into mischief. “i mean, i’m yet to speak with my uncle but isabella decide to spoke to me early, and have seen her with a glass… i don’t know, raises a question.”

She lets out a gentle laugh at his call out, giving him an innocent shrug. “In that case, you’ll just have to work to find out if that’s true or not. I hope you’re not a quitter?” she wonders, eyes up at the male. Mai grew up making sure she had buried whatever weakness she had. If she were to become the person she is today, she had to. “Hm, we can leave early if the event becomes too dull for you. I’m sure there’s a ton of fun outside.” Besides, with the right company, that was easy. “She spoke to you?” Mai is, of course, curious. “Why does that raise a question?”

“Oh? Then you must show me!” She claps her hands together in excitement. She won’t ever pass a chance to take a few pictures of herself and if Ionie’s offering, why not? Her friend always took great shots. “They really outdid themselves with this relocation. As they should.” She would not have handled another relocation to a dull middle-of-nowhere location! “Have you done some more exploring?”

she couldn’t help but beam, ariel had almost forgotten how lovely it was to receive such support from people outside her family. it reminded her that such a thing was even possible! “you’re sweet, thank you.” at her question, she was woefully determined to keep the bright smile upon her face. “it’s not too terrible. time definitely helped, and it’s not like we’re in madrid where i could… pass by things.” the image of the road and her hotel room from the time still burned in her mind.

"No need to thank me,” she reassures her, giving her hand another gentle squeeze. She knows if the roles were reversed, Ariel would also check up on her. Besides, she’s just doing what any friend would do. She nods at her words, listening patiently. “That’s good to hear, I’m happy and you look as gorgeous as always.” She smiles. “It’s good that we won’t be passing by Madrid, yes?”

“Thailand’s Thailand, same old.” It saddens her that her disgusting uncle’s still the one of the throne. It disappoints her that it’s not Nisa on the throne. It belonged to them. But they were working on it, and eventually the throne will be where it belongs, with someone who actually wanted the best and only the best for their nation. “I will. You haven’t been seeing her around?” she wonders. “They’re already pressuring him? Well, I can’t say that’s surprising.”

“As you should.” She takes a sip of her own glass, relaxing in her seat. “Hey, that’s a good plan. We now have access to all of that. We should make good use of it.” She waves her arm around the venue. She could spend everyday by the pool and wouldn’t mind.

A laborious formality gripping his features when someone known passes by, not diverting himself more than necessary when the smile on his lips didn’t vanish but grew wide. “There’s always one, it’s the Achilles’ heel ––– you will tell me yours, eventually.” His own flute placed by next to hers after a long gulp. “It’s the least I can do, I mean it when I said I’m glad you came tonight,” he points out with a mirthful expression, laying his now free hand on her back. Rather enjoy one dance now than later, he wouldn’t embarrass himself as much. “I think one of them won’t get that drunk, after seeing this certain someone I think she can’t.”

“What if I tell you I don’t have an Achilles’ heel?” she says, voice sweet and smooth. Maybe she had one a few years ago, but not anymore. She likes to think she doesn’t have a weakness, regardless of what the reality is. “And I’m glad you decided to come tonight, despite everything.” Everything being his antagonism towards the Spanish family. She wraps her arms around his neck and moves to the music. “Certain someone? What do you mean?”
