Christian Keeps His Promises

Quick tangent but I wanna try and disect why Christian had Eve fake her death; one, because she was trying to take Micah away. But the thing is, even if Eve had taken Micah to live with her, that doesn't necessarily mean Christian would no longer see Micah; they've been brother's for a long time, so they'd still have that connection and excuse to see each other. But I think Christian's protective side comes into play here; he doesn't trust Micah's safety with Eve enough to transfer any sort of full time custody to her. In Christian's mind, he's the only one who is capable of that. He probably also thinks that since she didn't bring Micah along when she ran away that she had no right to have him back again. Even though that wasn't Eve's fault, he just uses this as another example as to why she's not strong enough to protect him. The other reason plays into his possessiveness; he is Micah's family, and having Eve here makes him feel like she's coming to replace him in the "older siblings provider" role, and he doesn't want that. Micah is also about 12 when Eve comes back, old enough to have some doubts about Christian and all that he does. So it's a very real option that if he knew his sister was alive and looking for him, then he'd choose her over living with Christian. So Christian decides to take that choice away from him. But he doesn't kill Eve, managing to keep that in; possibly because he had more self control in his younger years, or maybe because he underestimated how far Eve would go, or maybe because he acknowledges she's not doing anything wrong and couldn't bring himself to. Either way, he's probably regretting it now.
