8. Which fic this year was the most fun to write?

Oh gosh, this one is hard. I've had so much fun with all of first I've written. But if I had to choose...I think the chapter fics I wrote for the ship weeks this year. Allow me to list them:

2. What's your least favorite thing you wrote this year?

The collection I did for Valentine's Day, Lover(s), if only because time got away from me and I didn't finish all the prompts I got in my inbox.

So while I was looking for good screenshots of Katie from Tina's art class in the episode (Thought she was a cool character design and might use her later, who knows), "Bad Tina" I stumbled upon these frames.

Zeke (and the two girls) appear to be the first to look at Tina announcing her "Buttloose" story. The line around Zeke's eye makes him look shocked and/or nervous (I mean, I would be too if I just heard I was featured in an erotic story XD). My point is Zeke noticed Tina talking before Jimmy Jr. and I'll take what I can get. It's the barest minimum of crumb but I still count it as Zekina. XD Don't worry, Zeke you don't even touch booty in the story. You're just the first to receive cafeteria slop. Tina stayed true to your boob man nature in her story. XD

(Still doesn't change the fact he pointed and laughed at her when she ended the story. His only saving grace for that was he immediately pointed and laughed at Tammy and helped Gene and Louise draw attention to the fact Tammy farted. Kids are so brutal lol) Anyway, just wanted to talk about this because I thought it was neat that even in this season 2 episode, Zeke still noticed Tina first before Jay Ju. XD

YES he’s so in love with her i am waitingggg for it to slowly become reciprocated —

that can be seen slowly starting to happen already in some of Tina’s more recent-ish fantasies

examples - idk the episode names off the top of my head (sorry!) but Tina is seen to have a fantasy sequence where she’s famous (of course) and zeke and jimmy are fighting over who gets to propose to/marry her!! This is definitely the writers hinting that her feelings towards zeke (even platonically) are starting to change, and the sequence itself is reminiscent of The Oeder Games where they’re “fighting” over her!! so i def think ur right when you say that this was a pivotal turning point in how Tina sees/feels about Zeke

the other example that comes to mind is where Tina writes in her diary about Zeke and Jimmy-J switching heads in her dreams, and both she and Gene and Louise imply that it’s a recurring thing that’s been happening! (her feelings for Zeke are def changing at this point in the series)

— and slightly off topic but how cute is it that Tina wanted so desperately to be called “Teagle” and zeke calls her “T-bird” 😭 i know he called her that way before the cabin field trip episode but i just think it’s so sweet

and lastly to add on to what you were saying abt the example from The Oeder Games… not only does zeke tell Tina he’s up to his butt with how much he likes her but he also plans out such a good date for them and idkkk it didn’t entirely seem like he pulled it out of his ass like J-ju lool

LIKE he wants to take her to the aquarium, which we can see in the Aquaticism (is that how u spell it, idk) episode that the aquarium is one of Tina’s fav places to go and idk about you but i think Zeke was paying attention somehow 🙈🙈

I've been thinking a lot about Zekina lately (shocker, I know) and @theangrypomeranian has me noticing just how often Zeke and Tina really interact throughout the show, specifically in terms of physical proximity.

But beyond that, there are so many amazing examples and moments where Zeke is truly just DOWN BAD for Tina and willing to do anything for her.

While we have the classic examples of The Mad Pooper and Mid-Day Run, there are a lot of other moments where Zeke shows how much he likes Tina!

For example, in Teen-a Witch (S7 Ep 3), when Tina notes that she feels Jimmy Jr likely responded to her new attitude and chocker necklace, while J-Ju doesn't seem convinced (even stating "eh, idk") Zeke interjects that he liked her new look and confidence.

Similarly, in The Landship (S6 Ep 2), we see Zeke tell Tina that she has a spicy and a not spicy side and that he likes both sides of her. He also at the start of this episode is the one to encourage her to "get some spice in ya girl!" and to let loose a bit. I think this just shows that while he is supportive of whatever side Tina has to give, he is also willing to encourage her to have fun and be more in tune with herself.

Throughout the show, we also see multiple instances where Zeke is an enthusiastic participant in the Belcher Sibling Shenanigans, like in The Kids Run the Restaurant (S3 Ep 20), Stand By Gene (S6 Ep 12) and Stuck in the Kitchen With You (S12 Ep 8). There are plenty of other good examples of this, but they all demonstrate that not only is Zeke accepting and supportive of Tina, but he is willing to collaborate with her and her siblings and finds fun in their mischief.

For us as an audience, I think a real turning point for Tina going from hating Zeke to beginning to see him grow on her as a friend is seen in The Oeder Games (S5 Ep 21), where Zeke famously tells Tina that he's "up to his butt" in how much he likes her and the J-Ju takes her for granted.

This moment really pushes us as an audience into a new perspective where we begin to see this trio in new lights. As the series continues, we see Zeke and Tina continue to develop a growing friendship, albeit slowly, through moments like The Taking of Funtime One Two Three (S9 Ep 2) where we see Tina seek Zeke out for his skills and see J-Ju as an afterthought to the situation.

There seems to just be a slow and steady building of Zeke growing on Tina and their friendship slowly coming together, and I love to see how throughout it all, Zeke never wavers in his care and support for her. He's just patiently waiting in the wings, but also doesn't seem to feel that being her friend is settling in any way. He just likes her and likes spending time with her however she will let him.

There are a ton of other examples I could give, but I think it just goes to show there are those little strings and pieces of them throughout the show if you are really looking for them.

since its zekina week here's a preview of tina and zeke's kinda sorta first kiss?? from chapter twelve of my zeke fanfic. Both of them are doing this 100% entirely platonically btw theyre too stupid to even begin to see each other romantically <3 it would take at least 37 more chapters before they could allow themselves to actually see each other in that way. And emotionally it isn't the right time for them to be in a relationship anyway

(can you hear that??? me, screaming in the distance???) @babsvibes actually sent me an ask on my own blog about my favorite Tinimmy kisses, but we thought we might as well put it here instead. Obviously, this ranking is just MY opinion, and I would love to hear yours! (Also, if I forgot any...sue me!) Anyway....

10. "The Gene and Courtney Show" Season 6, Episode 7

Listen....while I love that he brought her a rose, I cannot handle the second-hand embarrassment I feel when I think about how Tina is wearing a diaper in this scene. Like...I know she's dressed as cupid, but it's all I can focus on!!! If she wasn't wearing one, I think I would rank this kiss higher.

9. "The Bob's Burgers Movie"

I feel like some of you might be shocked that I didn't put the movie kiss higher (I shocked myself with it when I was making this list), but there are just other ones that I like more! I do love the "Woah." "Yeah." afterwards, and I'm pretty sure I cried the first time I saw this scene in theaters lollll

I know that the first one is supposed to be part of Tina's dream, but they look so cute that I wanted to include it. The actual kiss in this scene is made for me by Zeke's "Oh hell yeah!" after and Jimmy Jr.'s dazed reaction. Also, these poor kids that aren't apart of the friend group were probably soooo confused

6. "UFO No You Didn't" Season 9, Episode 9

The way that she SPRINTS down the hall in this scene kills me, and I love Jimmy Jr.'s (and Jocelyn's) reactions after. If this wasn't immediately followed by THE Zekina kiss, it would probably be higher up on my list! (That's what I get for being a multi-shipper, oops)

5. "Gene it On" Season 4, Episode 20

THEY WERE ON A DATE!!!!!! HE LOVES IT WHEN SHE'S MEAN!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

4. "Ex Machtina" Season 7, Episode 8

Obviously, I'm biased...but this is arguably the best Tinimmy episode overall, and this kiss is just...magical??? Idk??? The fire in the back??? The vibes??? Also, I considered adding the scene where Jimmy Jr. kisses the robot while the entire family watches, but I can't watch that scene without physically recoiling, sooooo

3. "The Quirkducers" Season 7, Episode 6

THIS HAD NOOOOO RIGHT TO BE AS STEAMY AS IT IS. WHY DOES IT GO ON FOR SO LONG???? THIS IS LITERALLY THE MOST INTENSE KISS WE SEE FROM THEM AND THEY'RE DRESSED LIKE THAT!!!! I NEED TO KNOW HOW SHE TALKED HIM INTO THIS!!!!! WAS IT SPONTANEOUS??? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FROND TO BREAK THEM UP??? I WANT TO KNOW SO BADLY

The first kiss!!! Honestly, this is the one I struggled to rank the most. I think they've had better ones since this, but there's something so special and nostalgic about this one??? I think part of it is that I love the window scene right before this. IDK!!!! <3

"Bob Actually" Season 7, Episode 9

Was there ever any doubt about which one would be #1??? I am never NOT thinking about the sky kiss. He planned this!!! For Valentine's Day!!!! FOR HER!!!! He was so excited about it!!!!! Also, Sky Kiss is my favorite Bob's Burgers song, so it gets extra points for that. The "Jimmy Jr. kisses Tiiiiiiiiiina" part scratches my brain just right. <3

(As a side note, after typing these all out, I realized that they kiss SO many times in season 7???? If you took out the Xmas episode, there would be three episodes in a row where they kiss. They need to bring that momentum back for me personally)

Well...??? I don't rewatch episodes, I have this thing where I want to preserve the memory I had when I watched it for the first time. Does that make sense?

I can't think...I guess it's The Hormone-iums? I forgot how to spell it.

I was kind of a Tinimmy & Zekina fan when I watched it...I wouldn't admit it...I remember reading this wattpad fanfic called "Whirlwind". Haha..sorry, unnecessary. So it was March 17, 2023, I got to this episode and it stood out to me like most Tinimmy episodes...but this one...was like a diamond to me, I remember when I got to the ending credits, it was Dan Mintz covering "Just What I Needed" and I searched for the actual song the next day and named one of my fanfictions after it. That's how impactful it was. This episode caused so much sparks for me. Even though I was in denial of being a Tinimmy/Zekina shipper.

Then there's 'V is for Valentine-detta' (I think that's the name.)

You know why. You knowww whyyy... I remember seeing this episode, March 24th 2023 at night. Yeah, I have a really good memory. I just enjoyed this whole girl's night theme it had. Especially Nat. To me, I just liked the episode. Not love. But now, looking back, how I literally revived a whole ship... It really is a significant episode to me. Kinda wished they did more with Becky...

Why it's still a WIP: tbh i wrote the third chapter over a year after i'd posted the second. i guess i just wasn't too in love with the fic or really had many ideas for it

Will you finish: 99% sure i will not

Why or why not: like i said, i'm not too in love with the fic. plus, i don't really ship tina with zeke anymore per say, or with anyone. i just don't wanna put any more effort into it

Second Oldest: Countdown

The inspiration: this fic is a Victorious fic LMAO. started it in december of 2022 when i rewatched the show and started shipping beck and andré

Why it's still a WIP: i wrote all the way up through the climax, and then just stopped because i didn't have any ideas on what to do next. then i fell out of the hyperfixation and forgot about the fic

Will you finish: unfortunately, probably not

Why or why not: like i said, i don't have any ideas for an ending. plus, idk when/if i'll get into the show again. it kinda sucks, because i remember really liking what i'd had written

The inspiration: the season 12 Bob's finale Some Like It Bot. the fic is an alternate ending to that ep, like what if tina had actually destroyed the touchscreen. apparently i started this in may of 2023, which is crazy because i feel like it's been in my docs for far longer

Why it's still a WIP: i was stuck on how to continue it. plus, there's a lot of research i have to do for later on in the fic which demotivates me slightly LMAO

general thoughts and feelings:

today i went to disney on ice! vv fun. def reccommend. but not what im here to talk about rn. i absolutely cannot stop thinking about Bobs Burgers. its my MAJORRR hyperfix rn and im all about it.

i started planning a fanfic?? its rlly good but idk if ill write it tbh, im not that great w following through w my ideas. after this post im gonna obsessively read the wiki and make notes. then im gonna draw.

"draw what?" you ask? literally anything related to bobs burgers. i made a morning kisses drawing yesterday, today i might just draw them and their restaurant (like the intro) as a whole. thatd be so mega fun actually

also yk when you watch a show for so long that you pick up on their speech patterns? thats literally me rn like actually. my speech pattern is closest to tina or bob with the excessive amount of "uhm"'s and pauses in ym sentences. and this digital diary is kinda like tinas journal that everyone reads

sometimes i wish my family was like hers but other times i appreciate what i have. they have such a perfect and supportive family dynamic that i cant help but be jealous sometimes. most of my thoughts are comparing the two, but i know that reality will usually win. well i think thatss all until i add a "p.s" at the end

overall emotions for the day:

pretty good! im very sickso i woke up a few times in the night so i was a bit upset about that but itll be okay once i get over my sickness

Once More With Peeling

Behind the scenes under the cut!

Was really proud of this title. We’ve got the food pun, we’ve got this time element with “once more” that ties it to Maybe In Thyme, and my favorite bit is that “once more with feeling” is usually said in a theatrical sense, right? “Read the line again but this time give it a little more oomph, hm?” And in the beginning Zeke is trying to stick to a schedule, a script, rehearsing things in his head. What finally works for him is when he lets go of the lines, tries again, and speaks from the heart with feeling. But genuine feeling. Idk, it’s fun lol

Sliding a barber's comb through tangle-free hair, Zeke brushed at the stray curl that refused to tame. He tsk-d and tapped at its reflection on the mirror in front of him.

This intro with cousin Laurie was actually written probably, mmmm, a year and half before it was posted? This was supposed to be a prequel to Maybe In Thyme with Tina and Zeke still in high school called Achey Bakey Heart. I ended up scrapping the idea (obviously) but reused a lot of scenes from it in this piece.

“If you’re done doin’ a Help in there, I need the shitter real-real bad.”

If this sounds like natural US Southern dialect to you, it’s because it is lol. If it doesn’t, we’re from different parts of the South. My favorite part of this fic was writing how I actually talk in the bar after a few too many shots.

Zeke turned, almost shy knowing his secret spot had been found out, and saw his dad at the edge of the room.

Originally, I was going to include a piece in here about how him and his dad had a rocky relationship because of the canon hints that Zeke’s not had an easy or “conventional” childhood. I thought it ended up distracting too much from the piece. Still don’t know if I actually think Zeke and his dad would get along at this stage in his life, but eh that’s a thinker for another day.

“Heyyy listeners, thanks again for tuning in on this lovely Spring-a-ding-ding day!” Zeke groaned at the cheery host’s terrible pun. “That’s right, it’s spring. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and love is in the air!”

It was also supposed to be Valentine’s Day, so it was extra annoying that the radio DJ would play “When a Man Loves a Woman.” Not sure why I shied away from Valentine’s Day? Probably I couldn’t logically piece together in my head how Bob and Linda’s vacation timeline would correlate with Tina and Zeke’s date.

“What?” Tina asked, peering down at her clothes. “Does it not look good on me?”

“No no, I like it! A lot! Seriously, it accentuates your-” Zeke abruptly stopped digging his own grave when he noticed the slight tug at the corners of her mouth. His shoulders fell and, with a matching but much bigger grin, he rolled his eyes to the ceiling. “Aw hell, you’re just yanking my chain.”

I don’t think enough people utilize how sneaky savage Tina can be lol. She’s monotone, but she likes to tease too, man.

“Have I ever told you how much I love your hugs?” Tina snuggled impossibly deeper. “They’re so… comfy.”

The main ideas I try to think about while writing zekina are comfort, soft romance, and easy smiles. Plus, the best part of a big guy is the hugs, and I think Tina would really dig that.

“Once More, With Peeling Burger. Comes with apple peel chips,” Zeke read aloud.

I still don’t know if the chips were supposed to be on the burger or on the side.

“Zeke, no, we’re supposed to be on a date.”

“You act like that’s going to stop me from coming around and putting on an apron.”

This is the most romantic line in the whole piece. Nope. Don’t care about my heavy-handed sappy dialogue towards the end. THIS is what romance is. A confident, joyous, and supportive team taking on the world together.

The one time he tried having a conversation with the kitchen equipment, Bob had been swift to correct him on their accents. Zeke just didn’t have the pitch.

People seemed to really like this part, which is awesome. I kinda get it? But also… I liked other jokes better lol

“It won’t be hard.” Tina shrugged. “They’re all lesbians.”

Unless specified otherwise, every side character I write is some flavor of queer

“JEEsus!” Zeke yelped and both the peeler and apple flew from his hands. “You got a permit for those sneaky feet?”

“It’s the shoes, remember? I switched from my stompers.”

This was a line that was supposed to tie this universe to Ketchup and Fries. Idk if the timelines aaaactually work out, but yeah this, K&F, and Maybe in Thyme (obviously) are supposed to be the same universe.

Her fingers unfurled slowly but with purpose as she held her palm against his. For as light as the touch was, Zeke felt every shock of movement. The nerves came alive with the gentle graze of her skin against his calloused hands, the same hands he was so sure would never be able to feel anything this soft again. Hard labor had a way of stealing simple joys, but Tina was always something of a miracle worker—at least to him. As though a bubble settled around them, the rest of the world melted away from focus. Only Tina, his hand, and the growing tension remained. His thumb twitched under the pressure, and she stilled her exploration, waiting. He took the opportunity to feel for himself, letting his fingers curl around hers.

Getting me to write anything that isn’t dialogue is like pulling teeth, but I thought “what could possibly be more soft, more classic, more romantic than some intimate handholding” and thus I put on my big girl panties and tried a bit of prose.

They learned to cherish the quiet moments of the in between, and Zeke peeked out of the corner of his eye to catch Tina cleaning the prep station. He smiled to himself. Thanks to their easy back and forth, interrupted only by chiming from the patrons requesting service or loudly retelling an adventure about their dearly departed, time flew with the orders.

I reread this and can tell that I thought this was too fast of a transition but was too tired of looking at it to slow down lmao

“Don’t be cranky, Martha,” another woman next to her said. “Just because you can’t unlock your computer without calling your granddaughter doesn’t mean it's the devil.”

I am Martha. Martha is me. We are Martha.

“Sometimes… sometimes, I think you’re thinking about someone who would be… less difficult.”

Mmmm I don’t feel like I got into this idea enough on WHY Tina would feel like this. On one hand, most everyone has an innate insecurity that loving them is hard and not worth it (thus it’s super sexy to be told uhhh nope that is not the case). On the other hand, Tina’s a confident young woman that isn’t afraid of going after what she wants. The behind the scenes part is that Tina wanted to wait until they were both settled to start a romance. In my universes, she had the full college experience and knows that what she wants from Zeke is much more serious than a fling. She wants it to be real. There needs to be a sense of security from both parties before that dream can be realized.

With a mouthful of cinnamon sugar and apple, they let the day’s mess that still surrounded them wait as she regaled him with tales about their customers and all the little mishaps in between.

I liked this line. I think I need to get more into the sense of taste when I write.

The CD, with its nearly faded sharpie scribbling on full display, didn’t mock him. If he had to guess, maybe it was also just waiting for this years-long mission to come to a close.

Mix tapes. Again, classic romance and, again, tying us to Maybe in Thyme. More about this in a sec lol

Zeke cut her off by tossing her keys to her. She “ahh-d” and ducked, letting the keys hit the glass in an unfortunate clanking but nothing was broken, so it counted as a win. Tina swiped her keys from the ground and said her thanks before taking off once again. What a woman, he thought.

This is so funny in my head. Have y’all seen Letterkenny? There’s one Wayne line that goes “I thought it was pretty funny when I said Florida State seminal vesicles and nobody laughed.”

“You got me all types of twitterpated, you know that?”

I feel like Louise here, wanting to gag at the sappy scene, BUT this line was pretty fun to write I’ll admit lol. My sister nearly cried I think when she hit that, so success!

And finally, the CD playlist! Ever since the Mono episode, I associate Tina romance with like 80s music. The playlist itself changed a couple hundred times because, even though they inspired ME while writing, they weren’t exactly the most romantic songs. The only one I refused to budge on was She’s a Beauty, despite it literally being about sex work. So I did a little finagling and called it out in universe so I could keep it. That’s my secret if I want to do something even though it doesn’t actually work. Just get a little meta with it, let your character make a mistake, and go for it.

I Just Really Want to Talk About This Scene From “Mazel Tina”

I don't know how fans feel about this episode in general (I mean, Tina wasn't her most selfless this episode and poor Louise had to be stuck with Tammy all because Tina decided to do nothing about it) The one highlight of the episode I wanted to talk about was this moment with Zeke. It was so cute! Zeke was such a ham, hyper, and I love it! I'm just going to copy and paste the frames that I saved and add commentary to them. Here we go!

Man, why do you look so nervous in this frame Zeke?! Also to add, in the establishing shot before this frame, Zeke was clearly closer to the table than Jimmy Jr was. Why in such a hurry Zeke, hmm X3!? Okay, enough shippy jokes. The reasonable explanation for this is Zeke is hyped up on sugar and is just antsy from that while probably wanting to eat a burger asap. I can still indulge in the thought of Zeke being nervous around Tina though and no one can stop me!

Zeke putting his arm first on the table just proves further that Zeke was closer to the table than Jimmy Jr. was. Zeke just really wants that burger. Still antsy from the 3 sugary drinks (Tammy-tinis) he had.

There goes Tina again, still hating having to fight for Jimmy Jr.'s attention again because Zeke's just chilling. My how far she has come. Okay, now that the next frames are just me highlighting Zeke's adorable hyper moments.

What's your favorite episode and why? so in true Sally fashion, I literally cannot pick one lol. but i can narrow it down to three! my first pick is The Plight Before Christmas. when i tell you that this episode literally had me in TEARS. like?? they all just love each other so much! Tina is such a good sister trying to be there for Louise, and i ADORE Louise's poem that she wrote about her family. plus Linda's pain at not being able to see all of her children do their things makes me ridiculously happy. and Bob trying so hard! and the music! just!! everything!! i love this episode so much!! my next pick is UFO No You Didn't. everything about this episode was just so cute and endearing and genuinely funny. i adore Susmita as a character, i want to see her more! and i personally think that Henry is hilarious, and i love him and Susmita together, frickin nerds. and of course the kisses!! as much as i don't really ship them, the kiss that Tina and JJ share is just so genuine that it makes me smile. and of course we get the canon Zekina kiss that makes me SCREAM every time i watch it. I just?? love this episode so much!! and my last one is Roller? I Hardly Know Her! i still cannot believe that this episode is real. it legit feels like something out of a fanfic and i LOVE it. i ship the GAC pack so so hard, so having them not only interact but stand up for each other and enjoy each other's company just makes me melt into a happy puddle of shippy goo. Plus Gene sings my favorite song by Heart! like!! this episode is so good and i wish more people talked about it!! 6. Which joke had you crying with laughter? bro this one is so hard, but i need to give a special shout out to the part in the movie when Tina is trying to throw her barrettclace into the ocean and it just won't go in. like that is some physical comedy that you can only make work in animation and it's just *chefs kiss* so good. it's also something that's definitely happened to me before which just adds to the humor for me lol. 15. Least favorite season? OKAY PLEASE DON'T COME FOR ME FANDOM LMAO. but i genuinely cannot stand the first season, it was physically painful for me to get through. i just did not enjoy the humor at all and i found almost all of the characters insufferable. the only episode i kinda liked was Sheesh! Cab, Bob? because the interactions between Tina and JJ were pretty cute. idk it just was not for me and i refuse to rewatch it lol. especially the first episode, i really hate it lmao. thank you for asking!
