Don't Want To Be Called Fake News By President Trump, Then Tell The Truth
Tumblr media
If Journalist can't report truthfully about Trump feeding some Japanese Koi, how are we supposed to trust them on real issues?
By Dominick Mezzapesa Three journalists  (and I use the term lightly) tried their best to manufacture an "International Incident." involving Trump. These reporters don't represent a small, insignificant site such as mine. They represent The Washington Post, The AP, CBS, NBC, CNET and one is a contributor at MSNBC and NBC. The three reporters most likely hoped that they would go viral and for a moment in time, feel important.  Almost too easily they put aside their ethics, and went to work on twitter criticizing President Trump who, along with Japanese PM Shinzo Abe were feeding the ponds Koi's. The three reporters saw an opportunity to attacked President Trump for pouring an entire box of fish food into a pond. This in turn led to a discussion that asked if this amount of food that the uncaring Trump dumped in, could inexorable do harm to the poor delicate creatures. Of course, these three most likely know as much about Koi as they do about Journalistic integrity. The three lying, ethically challenged journalist was Anna Fifield @annafifield is The Washington Post's bureau chief in Tokyo Zack Whittaker @zackwhittaker writer and editor for ZDNet, CNET and CBSNews.com. Jonathan Lemire  @JonLemire White House AP reporter. Contributor at MSNBC and NBCNews. The three all work for major newspaper or are contributor's on Major News networks. So how do we trust them now? They can't claim "I was lying then, but NOW I am telling the truth." These three represent to me the most reprehensible of journalist.  We as readers form our opinion based on what you are reporting. How can we form an objective opinion if the information is a blatant false? President Trump calls you "Fake News" please explain to your readers how he is incorrect in that statement? I am sure you won't. I am sure you'll run and hide, or claim "We were only joking." I have read the responses and have seen some serious responses, so hopefully, you'll clarify "where exactly is the joke?"   Truth Matters.. If you feel different, THEN QUIT! I never graduated tenth grade, never went to a great school to learn journalism. I am a grammar Nazi's worst nightmare, but I consider myself more of a journalist than you three shall ever be. I actually care that what I am writing is the truth, I care that my name will forever be linked to the words I had written below my signature. I can spend ten-hours writing a story and when it's finally completed, if it not up to the ethics, morals, and standards that I set for myself, I'll hit delete, and learn from my mistakes. I may not be the greatest writer, I may not be the most articulate, but I am damn sure over the 1800 articles I have written on BluePillSheep.com and my other website WildlifePlanet.net, Every word is truthful, and that is what I am most proud of. My readers understand who I am because I hide nothing from them, I make fun of my writing abilities far more than they ever could. If someone asked me what a semi-colon is, I'll most likely answer "That's what you get from a doctor when men reach the age of fifty.  While my readers understand that, they also understand that, they can trust every word I write. I am damn sure my work ethic and integrity far outweigh anything you accomplished professionally. I'll also match up my accomplishments to your any day of the week, and I have no doubt that I'll be judged far superior. These three buffoons make me cringe knowing I am just barely making it and these three are getting paid top dollar, to tweet about a few koi. In the end, their 140 or less character article was simply too difficult a challenge to overcome. But as always when USA Today releases a video that recorded the event, the three stooges were exposed for the imbeciles they truly are. As the meme spread through social media, other users joined in teasing Trump for improper conduct during the photo-op on his first state visit to Japan, until the full video of the incident came out showing Trump was just following the example of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Trump scooped out some feed for the coy in the pond below before opting to just dump the whole box. Rex Tillerson, standing nearby, laughed. — Jonathan Lemire (@JonLemire) November 6, 2017 “Trump and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe were scheduled to feed Koi spoonfuls of food. Until Trump poured his entire box of fish food into the pond,” CNBC reporter Christina Wilkie wrote on Twitter. Trump dump: president throws entire box of fish food into precious koi carp pond https://t.co/uyO0QpYGXZ pic.twitter.com/v4P5ufZemq — Anna Fifield (@annafifield) November 6, 2017 Some even suggested that Trump’s behavior at the Koi pond could launch a “diplomatic incident.” Four stages of Trump’s latest diplomatic incident: Tokyo koi pond edition. pic.twitter.com/Bx3FsEoXyq — Zack Whittaker (@zackwhittaker) November 6, 2017 The full video of the fish-feeding photo-op at Akasaka Palace koi pond shows clearly that Trump followed Abe’s lead in dumping the box of fish food into the pond. Trump and Japan PM Shinzo Ave decide to dump entire boxes of fish food into a koi pond at the Japanese palace. pic.twitter.com/aPAP6IdRhP — USA TODAY (@USATODAY) November 6, 2017 Yesterday I wrote an article about the DNC Chair, Tom Perez sending out a press release declaring that the 2020 election will be an honest, transparent election. He included his seven principles, I never went past #3. Number three of Tom Perez's seven-principles stated 'He will faithfully abide by the DNC charter.'  Since Tom Perez, nor the DNC didn't change one iota of the DNC charter and bylaws. Tom Perez just swore an oath to obey the same document that was in place before the  2016 elections. T If the DNC and Tom Perez keep their promise, which I have little doubt that they won't. Then Article five, section four, makes Tom Perez's seven principles and the DNC promise for a legitimate 2020 election is null and void. The reason why Hillary Clinton, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Donna Brazile, and the DNC was able to rig the election against Bernie Sanders was Article five, section four of the DNC Charter. According to the DNC's own lawyers, Article five, section four of the DNC charter Article five, section four in it's most basic term means that since the DNC is a privately run organization. The words  in that bylaw center around the words “impartial” and “Evenhandedness.” According to the DNC lawyers, these two words “impartial” and “Evenhandedness" cannot be defined by the courts. So the DNC’s impartiality clause is akin to a political promise in that it can not be guaranteed. When Federal Judge William Zloch's  viewed the case factually,  no matter how dishonest the DNC presented themselves. Judge Zloch had no other choice than to dismiss the class action lawsuit filed against the DNC for rigging the primaries for Hillary Clinton. In Judge Zloch's written opinion he specifically writes about Article five, section four of the Charter and Bylaws of the Democratic Party,  “For their part, the DNC and Wasserman Schultz have characterized the DNC charter’s promise of ‘impartiality and evenhandedness’ as a mere political promise—political rhetoric that is not enforceable in federal courts.   While it may be true in the abstract that the DNC has the right to have its delegates “go into back rooms like they used to and smoke cigars and pick the candidate that way,” DE 54, at 36:22-24, the DNC, through its charter, hascommitted itself to a higher principle. Nevertheless, it is apparent that these Plaintiffs cannot satisfy Lujan’s test, and therefore lack standing to assert Count V of the First Amended Complaint   So, the choice——and attendant consequences——between “impartiality and evenhandedness” and Tammany Hall politics lies in the province of the DNC, not the judiciary. So please, when you feel ready to take journalism seriously, even in a 140 character or less tweet. Then Click Here if you actually want to read an article that despite being grammatically challenged, is actual journalism that is both factually correct and truthful, two things you three mutton-heads are sorely lacking. Facebook’s Twitter account compromised, hacker group claims credit
There’s this brilliant feeling on Fridays if you’re a reporter when you think that all the things you have to write about are complete. You kickstart some work for Monday. Maybe you tighten up a to-do list. Hell, you might even read some email.
But then on Fridays like today, something eye-catching happens and the Great Content Gods demand written sacrifice and here we are.
Facebook’s Twitter main page and Messenger were temporarily vandalized by a person or persons claiming to be from the OurMine hacker collective. The action, and the group, should sound slightly familiar as it hacked a bunch of sports-related Twitter accounts just this January.
Trawling the TechCrunch archives turns up the OurMine name more times than I reckoned it would. For example, OurMine also hacked the Twitter account of Niantic’s CEO back in 2016. Later that year, OurMind also hacked several media-related Twitter accounts. Hell, OurMine actually hacked TC once — a fact that this episode brought to my attention.
TechCrunch has reached out to Facebook for comment on the compromise. We’re not expecting to hear back anything of substance but, if we do, we’ll update this post. Twitter provided public comment regarding the hack, saying that it “locked the compromised accounts and are working closely with our partners at Facebook to restore them” when it noticed the matter.
What was posted? The following, per a screenshot taken by TechCrunch’s security sage Zack Whittaker:
lol, what is this, 2016? pic.twitter.com/G59Z5gnZfp
— Zack Whittaker (@zackwhittaker) February 7, 2020
As you can see from the screenshot, the tweet appears to have been posted via Khoros. Khoros, in case you also didn’t know, sells software to help companies use social media to interact with customers and users. So, perhaps the Folks With Time On Their Hands got in that way. Either way it was taken down quickly. (Khoros is based in Austin and has raised no known venture capital, per Crunchbase.)
And with that, Friday really is a go.

Employees are one of your biggest assets, but human beings are the weakest link in the security chain

Tumblr media
We’ve talked about securing your startup, the need to understand phishing risks and how not to handle a data breach. But we haven’t yet discussed one of the more damaging threats that all businesses large and small face: the insider threat.
The insider threat is exactly as it sounds — someone within your organization who has malicious intent. Your employees will be one of your biggest assets, but human beings are the weakest link in the security chain. Your staff are already in a privileged position — in the sense that they are in a place where they have access to far more than they would as an outsider. That means taking data, either maliciously or inadvertently, is easier for staff than it might be for a hacker.
“Organizations need to understand that the threats coming from inside their organizations are as critical as, if not more dangerous than, the threats coming from the outside,” said Stephanie Carruthers, a social engineering expert who serves as chief people hacker at IBM X-Force Red, a division of Big Blue that looks for breaches in IoT devices before — and after — they go to market.
Insider risks can become active threats for many reasons. Some individuals may become disgruntled, some want to blow the whistle on wrongdoing and others can be approached (or even manipulated) by career criminals over debts or other matters in their private life.
There are plenty of examples, many not too far back in recent history.

Apple is silently removing Zoom’s web server software from Macs
Tumblr media
After all of the drama over Zoom’s use of a hidden web server on Macs, Apple itself has decided to step in, TechCrunch reports. It is issuing a silent update — meaning your Mac will get it without any interaction on your part — to remove the web server, which was designed to save Safari users an extra click, from any Mac that has Zoom’s software installed. Although Zoom itself issued an emergency patch yesterday to remove that web server, apparently Apple is concerned that enough users won’t update or are unaware of the controversy in the first place that it’s issuing its own patch. It makes perfect sense not only because many users may not open Zoom for some time, but also because many of them had uninstalled the app. Before Zoom’s emergency update, uninstalling the app left the web server on your computer — so Zoom wouldn’t have a way to uninstall it with an updated app. That means the only reasonable and easy way for those people to get this patch would be for Apple to provide it. Apple reportedly believes this software update shouldn’t affect Zoom’s ability to function on Macs. New: Apple has pushed a silent update to all Macs removing an undocumented web server installed by Zoom, which allowed websites to forcibly join a user to a video call without their permission. https://t.co/WShnRDhZ00 — Zack Whittaker (@zackwhittaker) July 10, 2019 Apple also apparently gave Zoom a heads-up that this was happening: Zoom spokesperson Priscilla McCarthy told TechCrunch: “We’re happy to have worked with Apple on testing this update. We expect the web server issue to be resolved today. We appreciate our users’ patience as we continue to work through addressing their concerns.” This entire saga began earlier in the week when security researcher Jonathan Leitschuh published his concerns over a serious vulnerability in Zoom that could allow any website to open up a Zoom conference call on your computer automatically with the webcam on. Even if you uninstalled Zoom, the web server persisted on your machine and could even reinstall the application automatically. In the day that followed, Zoom first defended the use of a web server that enabled this functionality, then bowed to pressure and updated its app to remove it. Speaking to The Verge yesterday, Zoom’s chief information security officer, Richard Farley, explained that the company didn’t really believe that there was anything wrong with its software, but it wanted to reassure everybody who disagreed: Our original position was that installing this process in order to enable users to join the meeting without having to do these extra clicks — we believe that was the right decision. And it was the request of some of our customers. But we also recognize and respect the view of others that say they don’t want to have an extra process installed on their local machine. So that’s why we made the decision to remove that component. As we wrote yesterday, all of the attention on the tactic of using a web server to do extra work on your computer has been focused on Zoom, but it has not been alone in doing so. A competing video conferencing service, BlueJeans, said that it too used similar software, but that it felt it was more secure. Sean Simmons, a senior director of product management at the company, told us: While BlueJeans does use a launcher service we have mitigated this vulnerability by only allowing bluejeans.com websites to launch the BlueJeans desktop app into a meeting. Secondly, an uninstall of BlueJeans on Mac or Windows completely removes the application and the launcher service described in the article above. We continue to review all of the points in the Medium post and expect to have another update shortly. The story, pardon the pun, may very well zoom out beyond this particular piece of web conferencing software and apply to other apps for the Mac. We’ve reached out to Apple regarding that question and will report if we hear more on that. Read the full article

Rod Rosenstein stares blankly into the distance at Mueller report press conference
Tumblr media
Attorney general William Barr held a press conference Thursday morning to discuss the long-awaited Mueller report, a move which has been criticized by Democrats as unnecessary and "inappropriate." Next to him stood deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein, who spent most of the conference staring intensely into the middle distance.
Remember when Chris Christie stood next to Trump during a rally and looked like he'd just woken up on a submarine to hell? This was kind of like that. Several people made "Sound of Silence" jokes.

Hours before U.S. election day, Facebook pulls dozens of accounts for ‘coordinated inauthentic behavior’ Zack Whittaker @zackwhittaker / 7 hours ago Facebook has pulled the plug on 30 accounts and 85 Instagram accounts that the company says were engaged in “coordinated inauthentic behavior.” Facebook’s head of cybersecurity policy Nathaniel Gleicher revealed the latest batch of findings in a late-night blog post Monday. “On Sunday evening, U.S. law enforcement contacted us about online activity that they recently discovered and which they believe may be linked to foreign entities,” said Gleicher, without naming the law enforcement agency. “We immediately blocked these accounts and are now investigating them in more detail.” The company didn’t have much more to share, only that the Facebook Pages associated with the accounts “appear to be in the French or Russian languages, while the Instagram accounts seem to have mostly been in English — some were focused on celebrities, others political debate,” he said. In his post, Gleicher conceded that the company “would be further along with our analysis before announcing anything publicly,” but pledged to post more once the company digs in — including if the accounts are linked to earlier account takedowns linked to Iran. When reached, a Facebook spokesperson did not comment further. It’s the latest batch in account takedowns in recent weeks, ahead of the U.S. midterm elections — later on Tuesday — when millions of Americans will go to the polls to vote for new congressional lawmakers and state governors. The election is largely seen as a barometer for the health of the Trump administration, two years after the president was elected amid a concerted state-backed effort by Russian intelligence to spread disinformation and discord on his Democratic opponent. Only earlier on Monday, a new report from Columbia University’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism found that election interference remains a major problem for the platform, despite repeated promises from high-level executives that the company is doing what it can to fight false news and misinformation. The most popular route is taking a (shared) chartered sailboat between the Archipiélago de San Blas, Panama and Cartagena in Colombia (per person US$550). The five-day trip usually includes a few days on the islands and two days’ transit to/from Colombia. There is also a shorter route to/from the border town of La Miel, Colombia and nearby Sapzurro, Colombia (per person US$400). For more information about the journey, contact the following. Blue Sailing This company keeps the schedule for more than a dozen boats that sail between Colombia and Panama. Look online to see photos of the boats, to learn about the captains and to book the trips. Sail Colombia Panama Does sailing trips to Colombia out of Puerto Lindo, Portobelo and El Porvenir, with an option for a (pricier) private cabin. Casa Viena A Cartagena hostel that helps with boat trips to Panama. Sailing Koala A recommended sailing operation. Mamallena Tours This tour company – based at the hostels of the same name in Panama City and Cartagena – organizes sailing trips between the two countries, via San Blas. Note that cargo boats are a risky business; smuggling is common on the Colón–Cartagena cargo route. All visitors to the Darién must register with the police. Read more Air All Central American countries have international airports.
