Admittedly, he felt a tinge of jealousy when he saw how tenderly she reunited with you. It left him feeling left out, wanting of such tender attention. And he felt as if he was an interruption for such an intimate moment.

Soon, he came across you two again with the proposition for his plans. Hesitant at first, more so you than Ziio, you both accept.

With you and Ziio, Haytham feels a wholeness to himself that been lacking since he was ten years old. Is there such thing as a life outside of his mission? Even with his actions past and present, can he afford this?

Ziio’s direct nature and forwardness is a refreshing approach for Haytham.

You are a different breed of optimism for himself, considering how for much of his life, he never saw the bright side to most of it.

For the few weeks he allows himself to be happy, enjoying the beauty of nature with you both. The heated kisses shared that pour life back into withered hearts.

However, all good things come to an end and when he leaves, both halves of Haytham’s heart stay with you and Ziio.

Hello! How are you? I just want to say a couple of things. First things first; I love your AC content, I was just reading your Vampire Haytham Headcanons and I just wanna ask a question or two.

1. Would Connor aka be a dhampyr in the AU? Since he is Haytham's and Ziio's son or would he be human? An assassin/vampire hunter? 👀👀👀👀👀

2. Would he want to turn his S/O into a vampire or would he keep them as a human? If he does turn then how would it work? Would Haytham even want to have a coven of vampires?

3. Is Haytham the first of his kind? Was he born as a Vampire or was he perhaps turned? If he was turned; who made Haytham a vampire? Who would be the frist Vampire in this AU?

4. What would happen if he was attending a masquerade ball with S/O? What would he during such event as a Vampire?

A/n: Hiyaaa! I'm good! These aren't stupid questions! And I'm glad that there are a few interested in this AU! Also TY THOSE ARE SOME CUTE GIFS EEEEEE

1. Oohhh good question, I never really thought that far haha but now I'm thinking about it, I would think that Connor is most likely a dhampyr since when I was writing the headcanons, I imagined Haytham being a vampire for sometime, definitely before he came to America.

2. If his S/O wasn't a Templar and didn't have any intention of joining then I think probably not. I don't think he would want to involve them in a cause that is clearly dangerous and requires the upmost devotion. It's not exactly a decision to be taken lightly or without trust. Maybe if they joined the Order and asked him to turn them then I could see him doing it as part of the initiation process but also because he wants them by his side forever. In my headcanons, I sort of just thought of the entire Order as vampires. Those who are interested in becoming a Templar; however, have no idea about the Order having vampires within and either join once they can be trusted or are killed off when they realise the truth and try to back out - as a precaution, of course.

3. Since I imagined him as being a vampire for some time, I would think that Reginald Birch would be the one who turned him eventually once Haytham grew old enough, experienced enough. Maybe after he finished his training or after his first kill.

4. I think the only real reason Haytham would go to such an event is for some kind of Templar business. Maybe a traitor needs to be assassinated or the host is holding important information that is useful to him. But I can also see him blending in with his S/O, whisking them away in a dance, if only for a short while to cross the dance floor. A thousand pardons here, a thousand pardons there, sorry madam, excuse me gentlemen... he's more focused on the mission at the end of the day. These types of events don't interest him much. (But man, now you have me wanting to draw him in a mask hhhh.)

modern au (dragon age) Untitled modern Thedas AU where the Conclave is a conference because I had a vision of Haven as a ski town and tourist destination... Very self-indulgent.

Sandor Clegane x Sansa (got). Like... Bookwise? Sandore really wanted to noncon Sansa at the revolt scene? Some more playthrough notes since I managed to get just enough time to finish up the Southgate episode today.

📢 Highlights 📢

I remember the scene in which the gang snuck up on the Southgate-bound convoy very well from Forsaken, and took my time marveling at how well it syncs up with the playable version...until Hickey ran out of lines to delay the guards and immediately hollered for Haytham to do something because he can’t hold the guards there forever 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, Thomas 😂 

Speaking of the team though, the things they pulled off on the ride towards the fort were a thrill to watch 👀 I’m sure it’s just part of the show to keep up the illusion that this is a gang of Assassins and not, in fact, a gang of Templars, but when you get to watch Pitcairn and Hickey dash by your periphery, smoothly clamber up a house, and then straight up pull a synchronized air assassination on two guards with bayonets of all things in the distance, that’s impressive as heck. Where did they learn how to do this stuff?? 😂

But oK when we get in the fort... How all your boys just disperse and melt into the crowd of actual soldiers, starting all kinds of conversation with them? Beautiful social blending 💯👌(and a great look into the gang’s bullshitting skills; I have to say Lee and Hickey are naturals at this, the confidence with which they deliver their cover stories is top grade)

Speaking of their interactions with the fort’s actual staff, I’m amused by how Pitcairn’s first instinct is to tell one of the soldiers to stop slouching 😂 

And then the fighting started, and boy I have never seen this many redcoats in one screen

I gotta admit I couldn’t even see myself 90% of the time in that crowd—at least everyone except Haytham had markers above their heads. The disguise worked too well 😂

I found Ziio while tumbling through the crowd and fought by her for 10 whole minutes completely forgetting about Silas, it was great 

It was also more great because Pitcairn also happened to be right close by, so that’s the three of us against the whole crowd, it was honestly a rather dramatic moment

Now I’m not surprised that there are a few glitches in this game, but while all this was going down ONE of the buddies was standing very still right there watching my ass get beat (Is that you Church? Betraying us a bit early, are you? 👀)

Lee is, again, being very adorable (the way he yells “I'll deal with this, sir!” is just...can we just keep this version and not the one he wound up becoming 😩

Overall it’s a really fun bit to play through bcs this is probably the only time the whole party’s working together, which honestly I can’t get enough of 😂 And everyone aside from Haytham had their own lines asfjsdfslfI feel so spoiled there is so much cOnTenT 

Also, shout out to the veeery slight smile from Ziio at the end of the mission, that was some serious butterflies-in-stomach material ⚰️😇 We know how you feel, Haytham.

Assassins As Roommates: Thanksgiving 2019

Arno extended a hand and Ezio tossed the vanilla extract. Catching it easily, he fiddled with the top and poured a bit on the dish. The sweet potatoes were cooking nicely, shout out to Shay. Aveline was keeping track of the rising bread, her final task, Ezio and Arno were working on the turkey, and Edward was off to the side waiting for the water to boil.

Maria ducked her head into the kitchen. “Lads need anything before we set off?”

“Who all is still here?” Aveline grabbed a mitt and Connor opened the oven door so she could safely extract the rolls. The kitchen smelled heavenly. Setting them aside to cool, Aveline continued, “I’m done if you need help with anything.” Swatting Connor’s hand from the food, she added, “And Connor has his truck.”

“We’re good on food.” Ezio voiced, looking at Maria and already knowing she would ask. “Take them. We three will hold down the kitchen.”

Edward dropped in the green beans just as Arno instructed and watched them shimmer. “Ave, you can also take mine.” He jut his chin to his coat from which Connor produced his car keys. 

“Yusuf and Claudia land in a few hours, Kassandra and Alexios as well.” Maria said.

“Who do you want us to get?” Connor asked, and she shrugged, throwing up her hands. What with Assassins and Templars running in and out of the house, it was beginning to get hard to keep track. But she kept a clear head, one of them had to because, you see, gatherings always made Altair a little....on edge.

“Whomever you want. Elise, Shay, and Liam are on their way back with Gerard, Demetri, and Phillip; your parents are setting up the backyard with the Fryes.” Maria pointed at Connor. “And Altair and Malik are about to leave for the airport. Bayek and Aya are grabbing a ride from their AirBnB.” 

Malik ducked his head into the kitchen. “Ah, Maria, apologies, but he’s getting....” Maria rolled her eyes, already picturing her husband, arms crossed, cheeks heated, scowling at the door. Maria nodded to Aveline and Connor, and they left. In their place, Altair entered. Exactly how she’d thought. The red at his cheeks couldn’t be hidden no matter how much he tried to appear pleasant. 

Under his breath, Arno said, “Hide all the chairs! Can’t let people know we sit!” 

Ezio and Edward hid their laughter. Altair’s stress for the holidays had become an expectation, and they’d all learned the best way to deal with it. Comedy.

“Habibi, is there anything else we need to do?” His words were controlled and huffed. He was getting better at this.

“Altair, I told you not to call me that in front of Maria.” Malik feigned shock. “Let’s get out of here before we stir gossip.” Maria blew a kiss to Altair, and he relaxed upon recieving it. 

“Love you!” She called after them. With the kitchen team busy and the decorating team done, there was nothing left to do but wait. Stealing some rolls and butter with cooks’ blessing, she headed to the backyard to feed Haytham, Ziio, Henry, Evie, and Jacob. 

It was comical the way Ziio had Haytham in the tree stringing up the lights, Jacob in a similar state with Evie. Maria pulled up at chair beside Henry and they waited.

The start of the holiday season. Each year was getting more difficult as their family grew. More to love, Maria thought fondly.

Claudia and Yusuf were the first to arrive, and Ezio was waiting with open arms. “Ezio!” Claudia ran up the drive way and leapt into his arms. Ezio caught her easily and gave her a spin.

“You’re here! You’re finally here!” He beamed and set her down. “How was your flight? I’ve missed you so much!”

Claudia’s smile completely covered her face, revealing her dimples. “I’ve missed you more! I’ve so much to tell you!”

“After we put the bags down, yes?” Yusuf displayed his cheeky grin and Ezio gave him a hug. 

“Don’t think I’ve forgotten about you.” Ezio clapped him on the back. “Good to see you. Have you changed your...” Ezio combed his beard and Yusuf beamed. Claudia rolled her eyes.

“Don’t get too attached,” She said, “We’re getting rid of it soon.”

Yusuf leaned to Ezio. “That’s what she thinks.” And received a raised brow. Louder, he continued, “Don’t I get spun around too?” 

Ezio rolled his eyes. “I’m not that strong.” 

A few hours later, Claudia and Yusuf comfortable in the backyard, there was a knocking at the door. “Desmond!” Maria threw her arms around him. 

Desmond hugged her back. “I hope surprising you was ok.”

“When we said this house is always open to you, we meant it. Come in!” 

“Desmond?!” Ezio popped his head out from the kitchen. Arno and Edward were already setting the table. Taking him into a hug, Ezio stole him from Maria and ushered him to the back. “I have someone you must meet.”

Arno held his phone between his shoulder and his ear, helping Edward put the finishing touches on the table. “Uh huh, uh huh, that sounds great! Thanks darling, just whenever you can.”  The table set, Arno put away his phone and admired their work. Clapping Edward on his back and massaging his shoulders, he stared proudly. “Good work! See! Knew you had it in you this whole time. Just in time too. Elise let me know the Frenchmen are set up at our house, and they’re heading our way.”

“Good job, Edward.” Maria grinned. “Now that we have another cook in the house, don’t think we’re letting you go any time soon.”

“Wouldn’t dream of it.” Edward wiped his brow and undid his apron. “Just in time to get ready.” Dashing up the stairs for a much needed shower, Edward disappeared.

Adewale arrived with bottles of rum and his signature mac and cheese. “I love you, Ade.” Maria’s stomach growled. Insisting on carrying them in himself, Adewale followed her to the table. 

“Now it’s a party.”

“Always a party when you come to town.”

Claudia, Desmond, Yusuf, and Ziio were catching up while Haytham, Connor, and Ezio were taking pictures when Maria and Adewale heard the door and saw this. Elise ran to Arno, or tried to, Demetri beat her to it. 

“Arno!” Demetri attacked both his cheeks with kisses.

Phillip ran right behind him and leapt into his arms, tackling him into a hug. “Arno!”

Gerard slapped his back and gave him a hug so strong that he lifted Arno, who was still carrying Phillip, an inch off the ground. “You ol’ bastard!” Arno couldn’t catch breath with how hard he was laughing. Shay, Liam, and Elise couldn’t contain their laughter either.

Aya and Bayek were the next to arrive. “I’m so sorry we were late.” Aya kissed one of her cheeks and Maria walked into Bayek’s hugs. “Someone couldn’t decided what he wanted to wear.”

“What my wife means,” Bayek chuckled, “is that it’s hard to pick an outfit when everything looks good on you.” Aya gave him a look. Bayek produced a beautiful bottle of wine and handed it to Maria. “I hope this is well.”

“Your presence is enough, you know that. Thank you.” Maria took the bottle and put it in the fridge to chill.

The evening was going well. Phillip had really taken to Yusuf and Adewale and the trio talked of their travels and similar interests all night. In the same manner, Demetri, Aveline, Shay, and Henry were deep in conversation. Connor, and Jacob were goofing around with Bayek, Desmond, and Edward. Evie, Liam, and Aya were excited to find another with similar thoughts. Maria and Arno were mid-talk when Malik entered the backyard. And thus, the party was complete. Altair was followed with Kassandra, and behind her a man who could only be her baby brother, Alexios. 

“Altair!” Gerard mock bowed. “Many thanks, Great Master, for getting the gang back together.”

“You know I love a good party.” Altair’s demeanor shifted happily, and he smiled a true smile. Raising his voice to get the attention of the entire backyard, he began his speech. “Everyone, we all remember the lovely Kassandra. We are blessed this evening with the presence of her brother, Alexios.” Various cheers and calls sounded. When they died down, Altair held up his hands. “We are so thankful for our family. This huge family.” His arms waved to the entire backyard. “Not by blood, well, not always.” Chuckles. “But that has never mattered. Maria and I,” he looked at Malik, “and Malik, want you to know that we love each and every one of you. That we are so lucky to have you in our lives. We’re thankful for everyone here. A huge thank you for the Kenways and the Fryes for tirelessly creating a space where we can enjoy each other comfortably. Thanks to our cooks, Arno, Ezio, and Edward, for their dedication and patience to express their love through food. For Aveline and Connor and Shay and Elise and Liam gladly being everywhere we need, no matter the need. That’s what family does. We stick together. Might not always agree, but we stick together, and there is no one else I would rather call my family than everyone in this backyard. Each and everyone of you.”

“Now let’s eat!” Malik shouted, and the backyard errupted into cheers. Maria watched the group with a smile and contentment in her heart. Thankful.

   I have little qualm with the AC Fandom, everyone is nice and everyone is welcoming! I’ve always hung out on the edges of the known lovely people cause AC is always a love of mine. (see. @khruseos​ and @onlyliberty​ ), but I do have one qualm with a theme I’ve seen all over the place. (be it in the tag here, or in pinterest or what have you.) is the subject of one-

   Haythem Kenway.

     What do I have to say about him? Well what I see everywhere is everyone taking the distant prospect of ‘what if’ and treating it more like canon. Like he very would is a capable father, which I’m not sorry to say, but he isn’t. And from the looks of the choices he made, he never will be. I say that because of the very key things that he chose to do in regards to Connor.  After admitting that he didn’t even know he existed he took him and dressed him up all spiff and spuff for English living. And seemed very content in using him for ulterior motives that are in regard to the Templar Order. Haythem, obviously valued the Order above all else, and even the known existence of a child that he had with a quick one-time-in-bed-and-leave (i love you Ziio, this is nothing on you- im just saying what he saw you as), did nothing to change that.

       The entire arc of Haythem was a journey unto preserving the Templar Order at all cost, and that very fact? is canon.

       And his dying words? He literally told Connor that he should have killed Ziio when he had the chance, and should have- WOULD have- killed Connor when he was still a child to save himself the trouble now. Again, not sorry to say it. But that’s not an ideal father figure, for anyone. Wishing with your dying breath that you killed him when he was a child, is not ideal parenting at all. And I find it weird that everyone is intent on ignoring that fact, and erasing all of his bad questionable things just to turn and make him this- paragon Ned Stark, like father figure.

Fandom: Assassin’s Creed III Characters: Connor, Haytham Kenway

Summary: Haytham asks Connor about his mother on their return to General Washington’s camp. It doesn’t go as planned.

Haytham crouched at the edge of a roof, balancing carefully on the balls of his feet. Connor came to a halt beside him with an irritated huff.  

"Why have you stopped?"  

"Patience, Connor. We'll return to your beloved General Washington in due time."

"Not if we just stand here."

Haytham turned to face him. It was difficult to see his expression when his face was half-hidden by the hood of his robes. Why did the Assassins insist on wearing those things? It concealed their features, that much was true, but it wasn't very inconspicuous.  

Connor stared back at him, eyebrow crooked. "What?"

"Never mind. Let's continue."

Connor gave a nod, and Haytham flung himself gracefully from the edge of the roof and onto a neighboring one. He was surprised that his body was still letting him run and jump like this so easily.  

He glanced back at Connor as he paused beside a chimney. He had a sturdier build than most of the Assassins Haytham had seen in years past, but he was just as quick, just as agile. How did he learn all of this from an old man who could barely walk? Was it from his mother, perhaps?

"You are slowing down," Connor said as he passed, scaling the chimney in a few quick jumps. There was a hint of challenge in his voice. One that Haytham couldn't deny. He clambered up after Connor, reaching the top just as swiftly.  

"Remember what I said about patience? No need to be so rash," he said.

"We cannot afford to waste time."

No, Haytham wanted to retort, you're just impatient. But he let it go and returned his focus to the task at hand. There was little to be gained from arguing.  

The entirety of New York -- or their small section, at least -- spread before them like a map. Haytham would have preferred to travel by horse on the streets below, but they were choked with people and militia; it would take too much time. 

"There's a stable out there," Connor said, pointing in the direction of the frontier. The dark smudge of green was just barely visible through the city's fine layer of chimney smoke. "We can rent horses and take them to General Washington's camp."

"Easy enough." He turned to his son with a wry grin. "Fancy seeing who makes it there first?"

"A race?" Connor asked, incredulous.

"A test of skill."

"Ha. You must be confident that you can best me."

"Oh, I am."

Haytham leapt to the next building and started to run. Connor gave an amused snort and followed after him a heartbeat later.

And Connor was so fast. Even with his headstart, Haytham found himself just a few paces behind the Assassin.

"Who taught you all of this?" Haytham shouted. He grabbed onto the bricks jutting from a wall and hoisted himself up. Connor tried the same and missed by inches. He fell behind.

"My mother," he called back. "So I could hunt. I did not see myself using my skills like this."

Ah. So Haytham assumed correctly. He darted up and around a wooden railing.

Connor was suddenly beside him again, and they were leaping through the city together.  

Haytham still couldn't see all of his face, but he didn't need to. Connor's half smile was enough.  

"Distracted?" his son asked.

Haytham returned the grin with one of his own.

"Never mind me. Just focus on keeping up."

They moved in silence for some time, eventually trading the roofs for the streets below when the buildings grew too far apart to safely traverse. The outskirts of New York were blessedly silent and empty – a welcome relief after weeks stuck on the Aquila that brought them to Benjamin Church.  

They ran side by side for a short while before Haytham slowed his pace to a jog. His chest was starting to ache; maybe his body was a bit more tired than he was ready to admit.

He assumed Connor would race ahead to the stables, but the Assassin stopped nearby.

"Done already?" he asked.

Haytham waved him off. "We'll need our strength for the ride to the encampment."

"I suppose that is true."

"This also gives me a chance to touch on something that I've wanted to bring up for a while now. Your response earlier reminded me."

"And what is that?"

Haytham risked a glance in Connor's direction. His expression was open, curious. He was staring back at Haytham, eyebrows raised.  

"I've had a few questions about your mother. About Ziio," Haytham said tentatively. This might be his only chance to ask Connor while he was still in a good mood; the last time he'd asked, in the darkness of Church's warehouse, hadn't gone quite so well.

"About what she taught me? She showed me how to climb the trees outside the village."

"She used to tease me, you know. By climbing to the treetops while I was stuck down below."

Connor laughed gently. "You never learned to follow her? It is easy."

"I never needed to. Unless I wanted to chase after her, of course."

"She told me once that one of her favorite memories was of you tramping through the snow beneath her, trying to keep up."

Haytham chuckled. "Yes, that happened quite often. She thought it was hilarious."

The laughter between them died down, and they walked without speaking for a while longer. Connor's mood seemed to have lifted a bit more – Haytham thought it might be a good opportunity to ask another question.

"Connor, how was she before she passed?"

His son's expression sobered instantly. "She was fine."

Connor seemed content to leave it at that, but Haytham pressed him.

"Did she raise you in her village? I would assume she did – she went there shortly after we ended our relationship."

"Yes. I was there until I began my training," he said, carefully. "She rarely spoke about you, but I knew who you were."

"I expected as much," Haytham said – though the confirmation still stung. "We did not part on the best of terms. I suppose I just... I wanted to know if she was happy. She must have been – she had you with her."

Connor stopped to look at him. His mouth was twisted in a frown, and his eyes... They were so hard to read.

"If you wanted to know, why did you avoid her?"  

"She wanted me to stay away. I was to have no contact with her – and with you, I see now."

A pause. Connor's voice was quieter when he spoke again. "Did you miss her?"

"Yes. I look back now, and I have to wonder what would have happened if I did go back? But I did as she asked. She would have been very angry if I went against her word. I wanted her to know that I still respected her wishes. That, above that, I still respected her."

"But the village was burned by your command-"

"It absolutely was not. I never would have given that command."

Something in his father's tone made Connor stop. Haytham kept walking for a few more moments, distracted by the anger that was rising up in his chest.  

"Then it was Charles Lee acting on his own," Connor said.  

"I doubt that. He's loyal to me."

"But his hatred for my people could have driven him to do it."

Haytham opened his mouth to argue -- and stopped. There was no point. He swallowed his words and pressed on.

"Come," he beckoned. "Weren't you the one who was so intent on seeing Washington?"

"I have one more question," Connor said.  

Haytham bit back a curse.

"What?"

"Did you love her?"

It was a question he'd asked himself so many times over the past twenty-something years, but Connor's words still punched a hole through his chest. Haytham closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers. How to respond? Even he didn't know the answer. Not really.

"Like I said, I had – have – a great respect for Ziio. And I cared very much for her while we were together."

Connor folded his arms over his chest. "That does not answer the question."

"That is the best answer I can give you."

The Assassin exhaled quietly and let his arms fall back to his sides.  

"Let's go," he said, motioning to the road. "General Washington is waiting for us to return."

"Connor-"

"I do not want to discuss it anymore."
