There's nothing more dangerous than rewatching a movie you used to be hyper-fixated on. I watched The Old Guard for the first time in years and now I'm reading first hand accounts of the Crusades and skimming wikis about Muslim raids on the Genoese coastline in the 11th century.
All this just for a more accurate mental picture of my otps meet cute

peaceful, easy feeling
Tumblr media
It's a snowy morning in Chicago, and Nicky wakes up in Joe's arms.
I wrote a little sequel to "in a space that they belong!" It's called "peaceful, easy feeling," and it's up on ao3. It's basically just tenderness, folks--it's what I needed, this week.
The genesis for this one was three-fold: first, these two have lived in my head rent-free since the first thing I wrote in this universe a few weeks back. I regret nothing. Second, we got a lot of snow in my corner of the world this week, and it gave me a lot of Feelings™️. And lastly, long ago, before my own crisis of faith, I was a counselor at a church camp where we used to sing a medley of "Amazing Grace" and the Eagles song that gives this fic its title. We sang the verses of "Amazing Grace" interspersed with the chorus from "peaceful easy feeling," all to the tune of the latter, and to this day, despite everything, singing it gives me a feeling of intense peace. I wanted that feeling for these characters, here.
Thank you for reading, friends, and for all the grace you put into the world, too. 💜
