Duel Nature
@zexalmonth
D - Duel
This little one-shot takes place basically during the last episode of the series, because I felt kind of cheated by how rushed the ending was.
Yuma wants to connect with Vector after all the Barians are revived, and what better way than a duel between friends? But Vector already has enough battles to fight.
----
They materialized on the school roof, of all places. All of them at once, coming to on the ground, like they’d all been part of some bullshit revival meeting—ha, revival, literally—and only fainted, not straight-up died.
For a moment, Vector thought to himself that this had to be some new form of hell. Perhaps the last dying gasp of his consciousness was playing tricks on him, or whatever fragment of him still remained within Don Thousand was being kept as a plaything—it would be fitting. But there was Astral, the smug glowing bastard, descending from the sky like the saint every one of his kind thought they were.
Wait. No, he wasn’t there, not fully. Vector couldn’t feel his presence like he normally could.
“What the hell?” Nasch was standing up, in his stupidly teenage body holding his head of stupidly teenage hair in his hands and grimacing. “We’re alive?”
We. Oh no. Oh, no, no, no.
Vector reached out to create a portal, to get away from Nasch and the other emperors before they all inevitably turned their attention to him, the guy who’d stabbed every last one of them in the back, and—nothing happened.
            There was nothing there.
Don’t panic. Vector affixed a manic grin onto his face and shoved his errant hands into the pockets of his pants, noting with relief that at least he hadn’t been revived in the idiotic school uniform. Instead his favorite black and white coat was a reassuring weight on his shoulders. Small mercies. Think.
The last thing he remembered was the torrential wind, the rock crumbling under his fingers, getting sucked into… well…
Vector felt as if that same invisible hand was squeezing his core again and sucked in a breath, arm twitching with the urge to cover his chest with one hand. Bright red eyes flashed in his memory, and his empty stomach twisted.
No, there was something else. A sense of time passing, like he’d merely been asleep. And he’d felt Astral’s presence somewhere close, unmistakably. That unnervingly clear resonance, artificial, perfect.
“I have used the numeron code to revive all of you,” Astral was saying, “because that is Yuma’s wish. These human bodies are yours to use as you desire, and will age and die the same as other humans’. Earth is your home now.”
Nasch looked stunned by this, until Yuma leapt down from who-knows-where like a whooping cannonball. “Shark!! Alito! Shark sis! Ahh, Astral, it worked!!”
The sound of his so-happy-I-could-cry voice shouting out the rest of their names was like razors in Vector’s chest.
“It’s Rio,” Merag snapped. “Or Merag, pick one!”
Yuma was too busy jumping Nasch, who honestly might have hit his head and lost all power of speech judging by the incoherent noises coming from his mouth.
Vector took a step backward, unable to tear his eyes off the sight. Yuma, the last hand that had touched his, promising to—
He turned abruptly for the door to the stairs, skin prickling with chills.
His hand touched the knob. “Vector,” Mizael said, and that’s the push he needs to hurry up and yank it open, slipping through before anyone else can say a thing.
With the door closed, he couldn’t hear their voices anymore. Still not a whisper of resonance, either.
Just humans, now? Forever? Until he dies again—what, of old age? The thought was so wrong Vector heard a breathless laugh escape him as he hurried down the stairs.
The laugh quickly turned to an embarrassing squawk as a glowing yellow hand gripped his arm and threw him against the wall. Ow. Fuck.
“Where are you sneaking off to?” Mizael’s pompous voice always made Vector fantasize about snipping off that stupid hair-wing (ear??) with a little concentrated chaos, and he wondered if it had that effect on anyone else. It had to, right?
“Ohoh, Miza-chan, you already miss me that much?” Vector strained to keep a suave voice. That was the problem with human bodies. They had inconvenient things like lungs and throats and flight instincts. And were too easy to pin against walls by someone with a body of condensed energy and crystal.
And why the hell was Mizael Barian anyway?!
“Don’t bother to lie. You’re always up to something.”
“Too bad, our private time is already getting interrupted~!” Vector hated the frayed edge of his own voice and forced his face into a foxlike grin as he saw the unmistakable burst of light and color heralding the arrival of several other Barians.
            One, two, three, four, five.
And Astral, floating in through the ceiling.
Vector realized with a bitter taste in his mouth that the only human heart pounding in this damn stairwell was his. And no matter how desperately he reached for that easy familiar power, it was gone.
“Let him go, Mizael,” Nasch ordered calmly.
Mizael made a reluctant noise. “And what? Let him slink off to scheme up even more ways to betray the rest of us?”
Ugh, he could feel Nasch’s eyes on him. That much hadn’t changed. That pompous, benevolent stare, measuring him up, deciding just how much pre-emptive disapproval to dish out. Vector looked carelessly toward the ceiling instead, keeping everyone in his periphery, and sighed as if this was all just a minor annoyance.
“The war for Barian world is over,” Nasch mutters. “We lost.”
Vector thought he had no feeling left in him for Barian world. But something about the defeated voice Nasch just used really pissed him off.
“Oh, Astral, you really wiped it all out?” A tiny hint of Shingetsu’s whiny voice broke through. “Then just took the seven of us back home to be your pets? I didn’t know you had such a taste for the exotic~”
Right then the sound of Yuma’s feet pounding on the stairs above them made Vector’s stupid human heart literally skip a beat, and not in a cute way—in fact it made him wonder if it was trying to stop entirely. That would have been convenient.
“Wait up, guys!” Yuma panted desperately.
Mizael let go of Vector’s arm with a hmph, but Girag had moved his bulk to block the path going down, so all Vector could do was straighten up and think fast. Nasch turned human again first as Yuma approached, then the others, but not so fast that Yuma didn’t catch sight of the transformation as he rounded the corner, panting and rosy-cheeked.
“W-what’re you all in such a hurry for?” Yuma laughed. “I mean, you can do whatever you want now that you’re alive again, but since the big fight is over, I was hoping we could all just be friends!”
Awkward silence. Nasch and Alito started to talk at the same time, then stopped and gave each other looks.
“To answer your question, Vector,” Astral said solemnly, “I did not destroy Barian world. It has been merged with Astral world, and all the souls that existed within each world now exist side by side.”
“All except for us,” Durbe said thoughtfully, adjusting his glasses.
Astral nodded once. “Yuma thought you all deserved a second chance, considering the way your human lives were cut short by Don Thousand’s manipulations.”
Yuma’s presence was bad enough on its own. But Vector was going to be damned—well, he already was—if he gave the other former emperors time to realize just how short his end of the stick was this time. Assuming they didn’t already know, in which case he wasn’t going to give them time to rub it in his face either.
“Yuma-kun~!” Vector cried out, just the slightest edge of Shingetsu still clinging on. “So you defeated Don Thousand after all?”
“Yeah!” Yuma looks thrilled, though there is a flicker of something in his eyes that Vector instinctively turns away from. “You don’t have to worry anymore. Uh, any of you! So, how about it? We’re not enemies anymore, right?”
“To exist in this world as humans means we will need some form of income,” Durbe said.
Astral pointed to each of them in turn, somewhere near their pockets. “I took the liberty of giving you all a modest starting amount. Yuma reminded me that Shark has quite a lot of money and a rather large mansion as well.”
Nasch makes an odd face with his shoulders tensed, like he’s suppressing his initial instinct to grimace. “Uh, yeah, you guys can crash there until you get your own places I guess.”
“I’m sure it’s for the best if I get a start on looking right away,” Vector said, a sharp edge slipping through the sickening sweet of his voice. “So excuse me please, Girag~”
Girag stepped aside at Nasch’s nod of permission, and with another prickle of feeling all their eyes on his neck, Vector hurried—but not too fast—down the stairs.
“Hey, wait right here, okay guys? I’ll be right back!” Yuma’s cheerful voice was already faint enough Vector could only just hear it.
Shit. Shit shit shit. He’d just been reaching into his pocket to see what Astral thought was a modest amount of cash. Vector looked for somewhere to hide. It would be so easy if he could just portal away like usual.
But there was nowhere except the nearest exit from the stairwell. He rushed for it and was halfway down the hall when the door clacked back open behind him. Ugh. There was no helping it.
At least the others weren’t watching.
“Shinge—ah—Vect—ehh, what should I call you??” Yuma laughed awkwardly as he approached.
“Vector,” Vector said in a low voice, not turning around.
Those puppy-like footsteps stumbled to a halt a little ways behind him. “O-okay, Vector! Hey, I was just coming to say, if you don’t want to stay with the other guys, you can come stay with me!”
            This guy. Was he serious?
Heat crept up Vector’s back. Not so strange, really. Yuma was like a human sun, burning into him even when his eyes were closed, and in front of Vector, all that existed was the black scar of his own shadow, distorting the hallway floor like another gateway to hell. Sweat trickled down his back. Ugh. Sweat. The smell of his own fear and human-ness was already rising from inside his jacket. And his stomach felt hollow and cramped.
He was going to have to eat soon. Sleep. Piss. Shower. Get a job… what a joke. Hilarious! Astral sure had a sadistic sense of humor. Either that or he was much more oblivious than Vector had thought, setting Vector up with the perfect excuse to tug on Yuma’s heart strings. It would be so easy.
Pull out the waterworks. Turn around with tears in his eyes. Yuma-kun, I think I’m the only one who can’t access my Barian powers! The others are going to murder me in my sleep if I don’t stay with you. But I don’t want to cause any more trouble….
And then. And then. He would be the fox invited into the hen-house. Curl up and play with the foolish little chick who thought he could be friends with someone who’d just as soon swallow him whole. Bat the dumb kid around a bit while he giggles, not even realizing he’s getting slowly crushed by this “game.” How could Vector do anything else? It was just his nature, like a cat chasing a mouse. And Yuma was such a good mouse.
“Vector?” Yuma’s voice was a little breathless, and too close.
Vector turned sideways with half a glare out the window, still not looking directly at him. Yeah, like the sun… too dangerous to stare at for long.
“Yuma… you’re a real piece of work, you know that?”
Yuma laughed. Of course he did. A sheepish little laugh, scratching his head and waving his hands.
“Everybody says that! But I’m just glad you’re okay now.”
“Yeah….” Vector said distantly, a strange buzzing feeling beginning under his skin. Like an inverted sense of resonance, like a phantom limb, like the part of him that had been Barian had simply gone numb and was coming back as pins and needles. For a moment it excited him, but when there was still no response to his reach for power, he realized he was shivering. No, this wasn’t a sudden awakening. Maybe it was more like a premonition of an addict’s withdrawal.
Yuma, to his credit, hadn’t touched him yet. He wasn’t even quite within arm’s reach. From the little Vector could see out of the corner of his eye, Yuma’s smile wavered for a moment, then burst back brighter.
“What do you want, Yuma?” Vector asked, with false politeness.
“I, uhhhh… I want to duel you!” Yuma burst out.
“Duel?” Vector let the incredulous slant to his voice stay. “You want me to duel you? Again? How long has it even been since you were last dueling for your life? Haven’t you had enough by now?” Something was seriously wrong with this kid. Maybe he really did get off on near-death experiences.
Yuma wasn’t intimidated, still laughing nervously. “But it’s the best way for me to know what you’re feeling right now so—!” He groped for his duel disk.
Vector couldn’t help it. A sick laugh burst from him. “Yuma… What am I supposed to duel you with?” He spread his empty hands, indicating his lack of disk, d-gazer, or even deck. “And what for? To understand one another? I already understand you perfectly!”
But how could he, when Yuma was so beyond logic. Was his will to save Vector actually unbreakable? All Vector knew was that he never, ever wanted to find out. No, there would be no more dueling with Yuma. If that shred of a conscience Yuma believed in really still existed, Vector would have to refrain from taking such bait.
“Well, dueling is fun!” Yuma said stubbornly with a childish pout. “Can’t we just duel as friends for once?”
“Maybe later,” Vector sighed airily, though his lungs felt like they were operating at half-capacity as it was. “I have things to take care of and youhave lots of other friends to catch up with, don’t you? So, I’ll see you at school tomorrow, Yuma-kun.”
Yuma lit up at this reassurance, just as Vector hoped he would. “Yeah!! See you tomorrow, Shi—v-Vector! Ahaha!”
He gave Vector a big thumbs-up and, though it cost him about five years of whatever his new human lifespan is, Vector gave him one back—barely restraining the impulse to cringe when Yuma taps knuckles with him—before turning to walk away.
He didn’t hear Yuma’s footsteps withdraw, and so he didn’t look back over his shoulder until he’s turned the corner toward the building’s exit.
The act was worth it. Even three more minutes of being in Yuma’s orbit might have destroyed his resolve. As it was, his mind still raced with the perverse impulse to think ahead, to anticipate another meeting, another chance to—what?
No. He was going to stay far, far away from Yuma and all the other Barians. And do what? All his ambition, all his drive, it was just the restless energy of a rabid animal. He could duel (once he managed to build a deck, he thought bitterly), but it would have to be with enemies. Enemies or nobodies. People who didn’t matter, who didn’t know what he once was, and didn’t know what he was (what was he?) now. Vector chewed his thumbnail as his shoulders crept up toward his ears, the sun setting to his right as he set out on the nearest path to the waterfront. The water itself was blindingly glittering when he came within sight of it, the light breeze a bit warm. He wanted to close his eyes against it but couldn’t help staring at the dazzling brightness.
It was going to be gone soon. The sun was setting.
To his left, his shadow was so long it crept up a building on the opposite side of the street. And when he looked at it directly, the neon afterimage of the glittering light on the water swam and danced on the darkness of it like mosquito larvae in a pond, expanding and swelling into the reaching pale sickly hands of ghosts.
He closed his eyes, but they were still there, even closer, behind his eyelids, the afterimage burning and burning until he was panting and all he could do was turn back toward the light in desperation.
At a bench on the edge of the water, he sat, watching the sun go down. He let his eyes take in every last ray, knowing exactly what would be waiting for him in the shadows when it was gone.

Zexal Month Week 2 Day 5: C is for Chaos
@zexalmonth Did I use this day to make the Barian Lore we never got from the show? Yes. Am I sorry? Hell no!
"Yuma don't touch the water!"
"Huh? Why?" Nasch or Shark, depending who's asking, sighed at Yuma who stood near a lake on Barian World and asked himself how he got himself in this situation.
'Oh yeah because no doesn't belong in his vocabulary.' Shark thought with a deadpanned expression. After the battle against Don Thousand and establishing peace between Astral World and Barian World with Yuma’s and Astral's help along with stabilizing the planet with the Numeron Code courtesy of Astral, Yuma had begged Shark to let him see Barian World now that the planet was decently safe for its citizens and outsiders. Shark had been unsure in bringing Yuma to his planet due to things he experienced there but Yuma assured him that compared to the time he went to Astral World it had been a walk in the park. (Shark didn't believe him for a second though given he saw Yuma's memories thanks to the resonance of his Baria Lapis and Yuma's Emperor's Key) So after much persuasion here he was acting as Yuma's guide to Barian World. And of course Yuma was driving him crazy.
"The waters are dangerous for Barians. It burns us. Who knows how bad it'll be for humans." He stated.
"But you and Astral helped fix things up with the Numeron Code, right?" Yuma asked. "So I'm sure it's fine."
"You’re too optimistic and a hazard to your health." Shark snapped. But he stayed close to Yuma as he kneeled down next to the water. Yuma carefully reached just barely touching the water surface and moved back.
"Well?" Shark asked.
"No burning but it is warm." Yuma admitted. "Come on, give it a try!"
Shark looked at the water suspiciously for a moment but then sighed. He did worked with Astral to make this place more safe for his people. Might as well test things out now then later. He reached and carefully touched the water just as Yuma said there was no burning but a warm sensation. He cupped the water for some to fill in the palm of his hand before letting it pour down his hand.
"Warm right?" Yuma grinned, making Shark glance at him and huff amused.
"Guess it is." He relented, moving his hand back. He waved his hands over the water letting his Chaos flow making it glow much to Yuma's awe.
"That was your Chaos, right?" Yuma asked.
"Yeah, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing dangerous in the water." Shark stated. Yuma looked at his best friend and a thought occurred to him.
"How does it all work for you guys?" Yuma asked. "I mean I get you guys aren’t entirely made out of energy like Astral so..."
"Well it's true we're not entirely made of energy like Astral beings but that doesn’t mean we don't need it either." Shark huffed, standing to which Yuma followed. "Barians have a Baria Crystal inside them that acts as our hearts in a way it’s also our Soul as well and keeps us alive with Chaos."
"But I thought you used your Baria Lapis to use Chaos." Yuma said, confused.
"It acts as more of a medium for us especially when we're in places that don't have chaos in the environment like on Earth." Shark explained. "The Lapis helps us control and refine our Chaos in use instead of just letting out a blast of it."
"Oh that would be bad." Yuma sweatdropped. "So then what about your bodies in general? It's not made of well flesh like me or energy like Astral."
Shark hummed and held out his hand to Yuma. He was confused that much Shark knew yet Yuma took his hand and grew wide eyed by the rough sturdy feeling.
"We're not made from organic matter but made and as hard as stone on the outside even our attire is a part of us and if we're damaged we can use our Chaos energy to reform our bodies hence why we have to stock up on Chaos energy inside us." Shark explained to an awed Yuma. "We also have veins but we refer to them as Chaos vessels that are attached to the Baria Crystal heart inside us and connect within our entire body. That's what allows us to move and such."
"But... Then how do you feel pain and stuff?" Yuma asked.
"You can think of our Chaos as a sensor with our Baria Lapis along with the smaller gems on our bodies." Shark replied, pointing at the one on his forehead. "And when connecting with someone close we would press our gems together to share our emotions, our memories, our very beings to one another. It's... The most open we can be."
Yuma looked awed looking at Shark as if staring at him for the first time and Shark had to admit it made him twitch but then Yuma paled as if something came to him.
"What?" Shark questioned.
"Ah.... Th-Then if the crystal that’s your heart...." Yuma began, as if afraid to ask. "If the Baria Crystal inside you shatters then.... Does that mean you..."
"Yes we would die." Shark confirmed with a solemn nod, making Yuma choke shaking. "But that's all the more reason why our bodies are what they are so that they won’t shatter."
That seemed to relieve Yuma a bit, sighing softly in relief to which Shark huffed fondly by Yuma's worry for his well-being per usual. He then patted Yuma's back, making the human yelp in surprise.
"Come on, that's enough exploring we should head back to the palace." He replied. "You said you wanted to meet Iris, right?"
Instantly Yuma brightened at the mention of the little Barian girl who was practically his best friend's daughter.
"Yeah! Do you think she'll be ok though? I mean she hasn’t exactly seen a human ever since she got here and plus I'm sure she's shy with strangers like Haruto was and."
Shark allowed Yuma to ramble, chuckling to himself his people were already made aware of this bright, hyperactive, and brave human who was close to their king and were just as curious about him as he was to them. And truly Shark couldn’t wait to introduce Yuma to the people he cared about as much as him.

do not have energy to finish drawings but still wanted to participate in the OC week (@ygoc-week) so here it is
this is the "Zexal" morph between Astral and Ryoga/Nasch
still figuring out his character design but I've been taking inspiration from Nasch and the existing Zexal morphs. I'm not sure if I like him with human skin considering both Astral and Nasch are aliens - so I preferred the light purple (Astral's blue + Nasch's violet). I'm also not sure about his markings or the earrings either and I'll probably keep on playing with it until I find something that feels good (these are the other designs I've tried here and here)
as for some backstory hmmm.... this is part of one of my AUs in which Astral and Ryoga are fighting side by side to protect Astral World (and keep Yuma out of danger), and they end up overlaying due to Nasch's Chaos influence over Astral. Canonically, the Barians lost their powers after the Numeron Code revived them, but I wonder just how much was lost actually. In my AU, they mostly retained their powers but without a Barian World to come back to, they are unable to transform on Earth normally. Since Ryoga has a "debt" to pay to Astral (and Yuma), he helps however he can. He is one of the most powerful Barians, and Astral one of the most powerful Astralians so it works out quite well, they are virtually unbeatable except.... Astral is still vulnerable against Chaos and Nasch is Chaos personified. It becomes a problem
this AU is still in development so I'm still figuring things out, I think there's a lot of fun things to explore as I develop this character further

I have a few questions that annoy me regarding Zexal and I would love to know if anyone has any answers.
First question: How old is Hart (Haruto)?
This one has always bugged me, especially when Quinton mentioned that he was with the Tenjo brothers 5 years ago which makes him in that flashback 15 (canonically 20), Kite 13 (canononically 18) but Hart is...?
10? 8? 12? 9?
I headcannon him being 10 in present day, making him 5 in the flashback but since he has no official age, it's only best to guess (not even his wiki page mentions his age)
Second question: How long was Rio in a coma for?
Another thing that was never mentioned and has annoyed me. No one, not even Shark mentions how long she was in the coma for.
A headcannon of mine is that she was in a coma between 6 months and 2 years. The reason for that is during the flashback duel between Shark & Quattro, Quattro has his scar and Shark wasn't known as "Shark" back then and was his name Reginald Kastle (Ryoga Kamishiro) was announced during the duel and he even was wearing a completely different outfit.
But I mostly look at her being comatose more on the 2 years side rather than the 6 months but that don't mean she wasn't!
Last question: How long did the journey last for?
I'm more thinking along the lines of: When Yuma first met Astral to Yuma uses the Numeron Code in the Yugioh world, how long did it take to get to that point?
A few weeks? A few months? A year?
It would be been nice to get a hint on how long it's been (I'm rewatching the show right now and I haven't reached the Vector reveal and duel yet so I'll see if it was mentioned later on)
I don't have a headcannon for now long it was.
But I'd love to know what other people's opinions and headcannon are! It would be quite interest as to what other people have to say

Welcome to my page! I go by Ellis (Or Yugi, but that's an old nickname) on this account It’s mostly dedicated to fan art of Zexal and Warcraft
Sometimes pokemon or digimon
There are 3 main AUs for now: Card keepers AU - In short: Don Thousand and Astral tampered with numeron code to foil each others plans. They are kinda aware about alternative timelines (Canon) and don’t want a repeat of certain things. Astral ended up with Eric and his friends, continuining his mission with number collection and dealing with chaos Anti-topia AU - What if Yuma had no friends and became Dark mist’s partner. Edge lord’s wet dream Tough love AU - Just shipping antics with Mist and Astral Warcraft - Anything world of warcraft related. Mostly mogu or pandaren. Or my odd obsession with Lei Shen

I'm sorry, but I just can't agree with your Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal 2 - When Splitting A Season is Shilling Bad Writing All Over post. And for 3 reasons.
1- You said that the characters didn't grow. That's wrong. Yuma was initially a hot-headed, stubborn, and poor duelist. But as the series goes on, Astral (who was a literal alien that didn't understand emotions, humans, the difference of fiction and reality, etc), helps him to be a better person as a whole. And in turn, Yuma does the same for him. Not only did Yuma become the (presumably) best duelist of his time, he also learned to listen and to control his temper. Astral learned about humans, what they did, and about the world they live in. And the two of them end up saving the world together.
2- You said that the villains weren't well-written. That's also not true. The first couple of "threats", so to speak, like Shark, Ukyo, so on and so forth, were essentially to build up the plot. The 1st season is never the prime of a show. And everyone knows that.
Tron was revenge-thirsty because of a wrong he was dealt a while ago. He was essentially sent to hell by one of his most trusted allies. And the only way he could come back was to be in the body of a child with a black hole in the side of his face.
Tell me who wouldn't be brutally angered by that?
But aside from that, because of his knew-found child-like persona and his thirst for revenge, his sons didn't even want to interact with him like they used to. They wanted the father they knew. And it would hurt me if I were Tron in this case.
But Yuma shed some light on him. He gave speeches, explanations, anything in his power to try to save Tron, even though it didn't even concern him. And eventually, Tron came to his senses, and he's the reason that Yuma, Kaito and Faker are still alive. And at the end of the anime, he even helped to hold off the forces of Barian world so that the world could be saved.
As for Kaito, who I would consider a villain of sorts, he collected Numbers to help save his brother Haruto, because he cared about him. And technically speaking here, it wasn't even a lie told to him by his father. Faker made a deal with Vector that he would cure Haruto if he destroyed Astral world. And that meant collecting the Numbers. So that means that here we have a son and his father who care that much about their son/little brother that they would literally risk their lives for him.
And after stealing dozens of innocent souls, Kaito finds out that his father was 'lying' to him. And he felt bad. Though he began to like doing it (because he is a sadistic kind of person), he didn't want to steal souls of anyone for some strange deal his father made.
And I can get that.
After his duel with his father, Yuma and Shark, he does become a better person. As does his father. And that very same episode, Tron proves that he forgave Faker, even though he would never even return to his normal self after what he did.
As for Vector, Don Thousand, No. 96 and the Barians, there is a lot more to them than you'd like to pretend.
Vector was a prince with an abusive father that abused both him and his mother. He was initially a very kind and caring person. But then he witnessed his father, drunken and kinda' crazy, try to hurt him and then proceed to kill his own wife. because she sacrificed herself to save him. And then he fell to an unknown illness.
Vector was struck with horrible grief, and that changed him. And then he was reincarnated into a sadistic, evil Barian by Don Thousand.
Why did Don Thousand want to reincarnate them? Because he saw the malice and envy in their hearts. And that would help him to get the Numeron Code.
But let's take a step back here.
Don Thousand had an ancient battle with Astral, and it resulted in the two of them being locked away. While Astral was freed, Don Thousand was not. And Vector only freed him in hopes to gain his power.
And after that, because Vector sacrificed himself to gain that power, Don Thousand had control over what he did. Which meant that it was Numeron Code time.
No. 96 was a part of Don Thousand that was separated in that ancient battle. He was there mainly for plot convenience, but that doesn't mean that he didn't have an at least semi-compelling character. He was the direct opposite of Astral. He "had envy and malice, things that Astral lacked" and for that reason, he wanted Astral to be on his side, because Astral would help him to complete his schemes.
He didn't much care for the Barians, but was willing to work with them for power. And that power was the reason of his downfall.
Now Don Thousand wanted the power of the Numeron Code to destroy Astral world in order to rank up his world. And he wasn't the only one. Eliphas wanted to, and that was the only reason that Astral was created. To help Astral World achieve a rank up. The villains weren't the only ones with faults.
But, as the story goes, he's found out and gets beaten by Yuma, Shark, and technically Kaito.
Though he and the Barians don't survive the battle, the Barians are later reborn as humans, like their past selves, and are forgiven, even though they hurt so many people and did so many bad things.
And let's not forget Nasch. He loved Yuma and Astral as friends, but was pressured by his past friends who he also loved into becoming the leader of the Barians. He didn't want to be enemies with the ones who made him better, but he also didn't want to essentially betray the others. And that led him to become a Barian. But after his duel with Yuma, he realized that he was wrong.
and 3- The show wasn't made dumber for a younger audience. If you watched the sub especially, you can see that BARIAN WORLD IS LITERAL HELL and that Don Thousand converted the Barians to being demons. Like pre-schoolers are gonna' go around watching a show that depicts demons, soul-sucking antagonists who claim that they have sold their soul to the devil, monsters, big tits and many other things (including a scene where Yuma kicks Guache in the nuts)? Maybe you watched the dub, which is significally more child-safe, but what part of that speaks "a show for really young children"?
And as an extra side, there are tons of people out there that really enjoyed Zexal. And if it's too child-ish for you, why don't you check out Sevens, where they are literal children with hilarious goals? Then you could go rag on an actual yugioh for young children.
Anyways, this wraps up my response to your latest post.
Zexalisliving out.
Sent more of this cry baby posts for me to roast.
It's like reading a bad fanfic out of the pokemon community on why Ash can't ever escape his kid years.
I don't see how this is nothing more shilling the show for every mistake it made that people like you can't accept or try to even see that Zexal was just made for children. It's not a show or it's a decent one.
The fact you had the balls to sent this monster of a review is why I am the asshole who hates shows like this.
HERE IS BREAKDOWN ON WHY YOUR WRONG COMPETLY!
You had a meltdown over a show that wasn't ever good and is more cringe than woke hollywood actors blaming Trump on climate change.
Deal with it.

"That other half of me..." Shark had made sure to put a bit of distance between himself and Nasch. "I tried to be that person, before Yuma and Astral got their hands on the Numeron Code. I wanted to throw away my friends and humanity. I wanted an entire world destroyed. I was so stupid, and now that person is real..."

Astral World
Here all about the Astral Word.
Tumblr media
1. The astral world is a realm that consists only of energies and is only accessible to people with a high spiritual level. So, Astralians exist on a level that is not visible to the human eye. 2. The astral world exists parallel to the human world. Because of this, Don Thousand was able to use the Numeron Network to fuse both worlds, harnessing the powers of the Numeron Code. If the astral word is destroyed, the earth go down as well. 3. In the astral world, any living being can use "Shining draw" (the creating play move). Also, it seems that damage done during the duel would remain instead of disappearing. 4. Eliphas is a kind of god or guardian of the astral world, created by the inhabitants, when Don Thousand brought chaos to the astral world. Astral was also created. The assumption is, that it was Enna. 5. The barian world emerged from a chunk of the astral world and represents the counterpart. Chaos reigns in this world, while the astral world has banished all chaos. Later Astral fuses the worlds back together with the nummeron code. 6. Astral world resembles a desert and many plants are dying. When Yuma enters this world, he fills it with life again and he can also heal the inhabitants who have cracks. 7. Eliphas notices this immediately and says that the residents are now infected with chaos. But apparently this world cannot live without chaos, which is why (a little) chaos also seems to be life energy. 8. When humans die, they can become reinincarnated in the astral world, if they´ve a pure soul. 9. From the astral world are the Duelmonsters. 10. Astralians all have fair skin that glows bluish or turquoise. Occasionally, some Astralians also have violet skin. Their empty-looking eyes also shine blue or turquoise. Her hair is white, blue, turquoise. Once lighter, once darker. The clothing of the Astralians looks old-fashioned. Astral, Eliphas, Don Thousand, and Enna stand out quite a bit with their looks. 11. Don Thousand is formerly from the astral world. However, he seems to have gotten his black coloring from the chaos. No other Astralian has such dark skin. The fact that Black Mist is also black is apparently due to the fact that he is a) a part of Don Thousand and b) the dark counterpart of the light-filled Astral.

A little fic about Ryoga/Shark and Astral/Apis's relationship before he ran away in my New Dawn AU :) btw, the flashback happens before Apis founds out that Adonis is his dad.
Italics = flashbacks
The school roof was always a strange comfort to Apis, even before his new friend group he just... Enjoyed being up there.
Apis had finished his lesson earlier than intended so he was given permission to leave class, this giving him time to be on the roof by his self for some time.
As he breathes in the pure air, a familiar, warm feeling snaked its way into his mind. He missed the days spent with Yuma and the others on the roof of Heartland Academy, but there was someone else he missed
Ever since Astral had used the numeron code, he was able to venture away from Yuma and the key. Though it was nice, it was extremely lonely to do so due to him being invisible to 98% of the population.
One particular cloudy day, he had decided to float to the roof after becoming bored of the lesson that Yuma was no doubt sleeping through. And there, he met a familiar face.
Ryoga Kamishiro seemed to be unkempt, his tie loosely tied and his hair knotted in multiple places, his eyes having bags under them.
There had been a incident after the war where many people turned their backs on the Barians, believing that they were no better than feral beasts, leading to harassment landing upon them. There was no doubt that 'Shark' had fallen victim to some of that horrid treatment.
"Oh, Astral." Ryoga said, looking at him with the dull expression. "Out of all of the people I expected to see me here, you were definitely not on the list. How are things?"
In truth, Astral felt awful for not being able to stop Ryoga and and the Barians from being harmed by people who failed to understand, but he didn't dare say it in fear of being misread and making it about himself.
"It has been well." "I can't help but notice that Yuma isn't with you, is that new? Or were you too scared to leave him before now?" 'Shark' teased, causing the Astral being to pout and turn away.
But even still, he couldn't help to giggle at the comment. "Perhaps. But, what about you? Are you not supposed to be in a lesson at this moment?" The comment made the former Barian emperor fall silent.
It was obvious, even if he didn't say it, constantly having to avoid the harassment had taken everything out of him, and it broke Astral's heart. "I apologize, you do not deserve that treatment, nobody does." "Hey, on the bright side, I don't have to deal with Rio's annoying voice or Vector, so I'm chill with it."
"Let's just say that people aren't treating me and the others the best, especially after all that's happened. So to avoid people ganging up on all of us, we've decided to not be seen together and not show up to lesson." He says, his tone more flat than it ever has been.
Astral laughed a bit more. After that day, they would never fail to meet on the roof each day to just... Talk. Talk about what? Anything really, they had found a comfort within one another that would be considered as taboo not even a year ago.
Apis held his phone and stared at the contact. It was Ryoga's. His mind was telling him to message him, assure him that he was okay and still alive, try to reach out. But his body wouldn't move, he was petrified.
What if 'Shark' didn't remember him? What if he was mad at Apis leaving without telling him? What if he tried to track him down? His mind filled with horrible possibilities before he was brought out of those thoughts by Yuki.
"Hey, Apis! How are ya doing?" Yuki clung around Apis's neck. "Oh! Hi, Yuki. I'm doing well, how about yourself?"
They were soon greeted by their others friends. "Honestly Yuki, and here I thought you only liked me." Minako said, making Yuki let go of Apis before clinging around her girlfriend.
"oh come on, you know you're my fave!" "Ew, get a room you two." Hayate said, smirking as he walked over to Apis.
As per usual, Saki was the last one there by 10 seconds, talking to Apis.
"You alright? I saw you leave class early, did anything happen?" Apis's face softened, putting his phone away before talking to his friends. Telling Ryoga could wait, at least for now

I feel like Astral should have had old beef with the barians. Like, the past season was Yuma's story, this second season should have been Astral's story, growing from the servant of a cruel master to being the one who decided to defy him and choose peace, as well as showing his past, particularily his relationship with the emperors, because you can't tell me they wouldn't have had an old rivalry. I could go on about his past, but right now, I'm gonna talk about my view of his relationship with the Barians
(BECAUSE THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD AN OLD UNRESOLVED RIVALRY)
I'm gonna start with Vector. He and Astral hate each other. They're rivalry runs deeper than Seto Kaiba's with Atem (which is why Astral lost it when he found out Yuma was keeping secrets with his literal life long enemy). I honestly feel like they should have been each other's dedicated rival, like even their colour palletes are opposites, and they are opposite personality wise too, instead of it being beef with Yuma and Vector over Astral.
Vector was the first Barian Astral met, which wasnt the best of introductions. He's the literal embodiment of chaos, even more so than Don who at least could behave in an orderly manner, while Astral was intended to be the being of pure order. They immediately clashed, and it only continued, a rivalry that got worse and worse, as Vector does whatever he can to make Astral feel miserable, by saying the most hurtful things he can, while Astral was unable to retaliate, as Vector just didn't care enough to be hurt, refering to Astral as a little bug (i blame a certain someone for this you know who you are). This rivalry is partly based on mutual jealousy: Astral is jealous of how free Vector is to do as he pleases, without worrying about reprecussions, while Vector is jealous of how Astral is (seemingly) valued, with neither really seeing the other's struggles.
With the whole Ray episode, Vector was less trying to break Zexal entirely as he was trying to tear down Astral in particular, with Yuma being just there, and that's why he chose to get close to Yuma, aware of how this would hurt Astral, and after that their rivalry just escalates.
Eventually Astral decides to be the bigger person (he is taller than him and he will use this as leverage) by resurrecting Vector with the numeron code inspite of what Vector's done to him.
Astral's relationship with the others is less complicated. They are rivals because of their opposite sides. His relationship with Alito and Girag was just very different people unable to get along, with Alito being extremely competitive and determined to take him down, he's astral world's best, after all. Girag is usually the one trying to stop Alito getting hurt. He himself doesn't actually have much against Astral, although he claims he does just to seem tough. Secretly he always felt a little bad for the fact that this tiny being was being tossed about as a living weapon on his own (he may have even let him go from time to time)
His relationship with Mizar, however, may be just as bad as his with Vector. This is partly because of Mizar's arrogance and attitude, which always gets under his skin, partly because Mizar's dragon has always freaked him out, and partly because Mizar reminds him of Eliphas. Mizar initially didn't think much of him, Astral was just a little annoying brat he had to squish. And then he failed to squish him. And Astral was sarcastic to him. After that first meet, where he lost to him, he's just not been able to stand Astral.
Astral and Dumon always had a much more cordial relationship. While still rivals, they always treated each other with respect and as equals (unlike how Mizar and Vector talk down to him or Alito sees him as a challange), and even had civil discussions when meeting.
Astral and the twins also had a fairly civil rivalry. While he and Nasch would be competive, due to Nasch being the Barain King and Astral being the champion for his world, the two unexpectedly kind of like each other, and their rivalry is more friendly, to the point that they might forget they're meant to be trying to kill each other (kinda like Yuma and Shark's rivalry- history repeats itself :D ) and also they both roast Vector together. Marin and Astral geniunely got along when they duel, similarily to how he got along with Dumon, and she is the only one who really doesn't like how someone so young is who Eliphas chose. The Barians had no choice, Eliphas did. She was also always more open to the idea of peace, and sometimes would suggest it, and Astral found himself agreeing. Overall, he had the best relationship with Marin, and although not quiet friends, they both cared about each other, to the point that Marin once actually helped him back to Astral World, after a duel with Vector left him badly hurt rather than letting him die there. Also, when the two were 'killed' Astral actually managed to send his condolences, and was geniunely sorry, and wished Dumon the best of luck with leadership. Dumon appreciated the gesture.
Post series, Astral gets along with every barian except Vector and also Mizar. He hasn't forgiven Vector for what he put him through, and he is still angry with Mizar for hurting Yuma, and hurting Trey, Quinton, and Kite (although he forgave everyone else-he just can't deal with Mizar, and Trey was the closest to him after Yuma)
TL;DR: Astral and the Barians should have had a rivalry. And the fact that they don't and they were more focused on Yuma makes me salty

"Me too," Yuma shrugged. "I don't know how I was there. But what Numeron Code showed me... is how Astral destroyed the Barian world fully with Shining Draw."
The new Barians
"No way! You're saying... you and Mira are Barians?"
V doubtfully asked back. It was the last thing he could imagine. Why? What was happening on the Earth?
Yuma nodded. "Yeah. My name is Symar. I'm really a Barian. Right, Mira?"

Zexal Month, Week 1 Day 1: A is for Astral
Im late Im late but Im here now! @zexalmonth here I am! And to our favorite blue alien Astral!
Astral stood in the large library of the palace in Astral World, looking over the archives that held the history of his home planet. Despite the fact of gaining all 100 Numbers and regaining his lost memories there was still so much he didn't know about the Astral World. He had been created with the sole purpose of defeating Don Thousand and to wield the Numeron Code to destroy the Barian World and protect the Astral World. Yet thanks to Yuma and his Kattobingu spirit Astral had been able to change that destiny for himself and his friends. Now with things at peace he could spend time familiarizing with his home planet. He could remember when he was created. The moment he had opened his eyes he already had all his dueling knowledge and loyalty to Astral World ingrained into him while his creator had given him his name as a symbol of being a guardian to Astral World in order to fight Don Thousand. And fight he did with no hesitation dueling with every fiber of his being and last breath before the final clash that resulted in his sleep within the Emperor's Key unknown to the time going past him and worlds moving around him.
"Ah so this has been where you were Astral." Astral looked up to see Eliphas walking to him. Eliphas had been the first sight he saw when he had been teleported back to Astral World after Blackmist attacked him. Albeit he had not been entirely conscious at the time when he saw Eliphas before he had been sealed in the Astralite to recover. But he hadn't been unconscious during that time. Having sensed Yuma's arrival to Astral World and his duel against Eliphas hearing their argument over Astral in regards to his condition and his mission. He remembered how much he wanted to deny Eliphas claims, how meeting Yuma and their friends had been the best thing to ever happen to him. That it was thanks to Yuma he was able to feel and experience so many things he never thought possible. Yet at the same time he could understand where Eliphas came from given he had fought with Astral during the battle against Don Thousand. Though that didnt mean he approved of how he treated his partner. But now thankfully Eliphas realized his mistakes and had changed for the better.
"Hello Eliphas." Astral nodded, while Eliphas looked behind him.
"I see you are looking in the more historical archives." Eliphas remarked.
"Yes I've been curious about the history of our world's creation and the time moving forward before Don Thousand." Astral replied, looking at the archives. "I hadn’t had a chance to do it."
"That is fair the moment you were created we had sent you to battle so we never thought to teach you of the history here let alone the customs." Eliphas admitted. "I’m happy to see you interested in learning."
"Yuma had often said I was like a child wishing to know everything." Astral admitted with a small laugh. "I suppose he wasn't too far off."
"Heh I see I suppose it's fair given you never went to Earth either let alone meeting humans." Eliphas nodded. "I'm sure you experienced many things while you were there."
"Yes I have." Astral nodded, smiling at the memories he made. "And I wouldn't trade them for anything."
Eliphas looked at Astral for a moment, his expression serious. "... I feel I owe you an apology Astral." He voiced, surprising Astral.
"An apology?" Astral asked.
"You were conscious during my Duel against Yuma, weren't you." Eliphas stated much to Astral's surprise as the Will of Astral World sighed. "I was right... I'm sure you must've been crossed with me for what I had said. For wanting to take away your memories of your time with Yuma on Earth. All against your own will as well. I never took a moment to consider your own feelings on the matter. I deeply apologize for that."
Astral was surprised for a moment before gently smiling and placed a hand on Eliphas's shoulder.
"It is alright Eliphas." He assured. "While it is true I was indeed crossed with you for taking my memories I could understand where you were coming from. You were after all there during that battle against Don Thousand seeing the damage he caused to the worlds. You wanted to protect our world, our home, while misguided your heart was in the right place."
Eliphas smiled before taking one of the scrolls from the shelves. "Well then why not as a way to make it up to you I teach you about the planet's customs." He suggested with a smile.
"That would be great." Astral smiled back.

I feel like regardless of who have used the Numeron Code (Astral or Nasch) we'd get a similar result because of Yuma
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
both Astral and Barian Worlds would be "destroyed" by fusing them together - I'm sure that, too, would be the compromise Ryoga would reach. He is kind. He would not get rid of another planet and all its denizens entirely just to save his own people (unlike Eliphas and the astralians at first)
Yuma changed them and, by that, he changed the future too

Durbe nodded. "Yuma told me everything. Our Chaos isn't enough to activate Numeron Code, but maybe we can use Chaos from pure Chaos core in the Astral world and Barian world."
"He's Yuma's brother...." Yudias whispered, looking at Durbe.
"Ahhh!!!! Ooops!"
(From Yuma to GoRush!Mirai, set during the episode 99)
"Oh, are you ok?" Mirai quickly helped the boy up
