2. There will be a doc attached to this post that goes VERY in depth about the story connected here. The images are included on that as well to make following along a bit easier. You don’t have to read it, but you will def get more context lol.

3. There is not a lot of Leosagi or Rise stuff in general here! There’s some mild things in the doc abt them, but most of this is about Yuichi/Miyamoto Usagi bc I love him, yet also love to traumatize him. Sorry king <3. AAAAND it’s a set up to something I have planned in the future that WILL be very leosagi/rise heavy.

Unofficial Guide to Yuichi Usagi's Friends and Family

This is for the fanfic readers who want to read about Leoichi but aren't as familiar with Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles. Note that I'm not a diehard fan but I did watch the two seasons so here are my thoughts.

This post is also spoiler-y to the show and have referneces to the Usagi Yojimbo comics.

Gen

Samurai Rabbit's Gen vs Usagi Yojimbo's Gen

Samurai Rabbit's Gen is based on Usagi Yojimbo's Gen. UY Gen is a self-proclaimed best friend of Miyamoto and constantly has him paying for the food and drinks every time they meet in their separate journeys.

UY Gen is a bounty hunter who knows how to wield a sword but refuses to follow the samurai code because of daddy issues (his dad chose to be faithful to the samurai code over providing a good life for his wife and kid).

More on Samurai Rabbit's Gen

SR Gen is also a bounty hunter but the similarity stops there. He was once from a rich family until his mother chose to heal a wanted convict. This made the people of Neo Edo mad at her which brought down her hospital.

Gen, upon growing up, had to make the hard decision to sell their mansion to the shogun and live his life as a bounty hunter.

Similar to rottmnt Raph, he's the oldest brother and carries that energy to his friends. He has a sister, Yoshiko, who looks like him. But they both insist they look nothing alike.

Toshiko is more free-spirited than Gen, but in Gen's opinion, she's more reckless, which ends up with him cleaning up her mess.

They also have a family car called Ashibasha that is possessed by a yokai that enters into any neglected non-living object. They keep Ashibasha in slight disrepair since they got attached to the yokai possessing it.

Other Stuff I Can Remember about Samurai Rabbit's Gen

He fights with a pair of kaikishi weapon of studded metal clubs called kanabo. Its special abilities are not yet known.

He and his friends are all staying in his ancestral home that his sister bought back.

He's a hypochondriac who would overworry over a paper cut and is a frequent patient of the Neo Edo hospital (which used to belong to their mother) run by three Shiba Inus who like to stay silly despite the horrors.

He's also a germaphobe and one of his greatest challenges against the Machine is going through the sewer part of their ship.

Aside from being a bounty hunter, he's also a sign spinner.

He and his sister has a background on fixing mech.

He sometimes is the advisor to Usagi's naïveté. Like telling Usagi to read the situation first in their first meeting or when he told him that the birthday venue for Kitsune should be something she likes because Usagi kept showing fighting venues.

He knows how to be intimidating for his advantage but is actually a big softie like following Usagi's idea to be their Kaiksihi sensei even when it's going badly so as not to hurt his feelings.

Kitsune

Samurai Rabbit's Kitsune vs Usagi Yojimbo's Kitsune

SR Kitsune is based on UY Kitsune. UY Kitsune is a street performer who robs her audience. A friendship was formed when Miyamoto stole back his wallet from her at the end of the chapter.

Despite being a righteous stick-in-the-mud, Miyamoto does have a sense of humor and doesn't seem to hold it against her when she robbed him of his money pouch that made him washed the dishes in a restaurant he ate in.

More on Samurai Rabbit's Kitsune

SR Kitsune is a street performer too. But instead of tricks with a fan and a toy top, she does puppeteering. She's also easygoing and has the tendency to make casual remarks about her life that ranges from zany to kind of concerning.

Like never having a birthday party in her life because she's an orphan, or that her childhood friend is a puff of gas that smells of fermented soybeans that she assumes is a ghost.

Similar to Mikey, she's just as playful and carries an energy of lightheartedness. She's the glue that holds Chizu with the others while Chizu is busy being the leader of the Neko ninja clan.

Other Stuff I Can Remember about Samurai Rabbit's Kitsune

She fights with kaikishi weapons which is a pair of bladed fans called Tessen. Its special abilities is not yet known aside from being able to return to her like a boomerang when thrown.

Has gay energy with Chizu.

She has a habit of stealing stuff but is trying to rein it in since she has her friends now.

Became sisters with a deadly alien ai that adapted its personality to her own. Her little sister is named Kiyoko. In the Usagi Yojimbo comics, Kitsune also has adopted a street orphan named Kiyoko whom she taught how to steal stuff.

Able to pilot a giant mech because of her puppeteering skills. Someone give that girl a gundam.

Chizu

Samurai Rabbit's Chizu vs Usagi Yojimbo's Chizu

Yuichi's Chizu is based on another character in the Usagi Yojimbo comics. Miyamoto's Chizu is also a ninja. But Chizu's brother, Shingen, got to know and work together with Miyamoto first.

I'm not yet finished with the comics, but all I know is that Chizu's brother died but she has heard of the samurai that he has worked with.

She has trouble with the ninja clan accepting her as their leader, and at one point was told by another ninja leading the clan to marry him so that the ninjas would take her authority more seriously. She refused.

In the end, the other ninja died after he tried to kill her to overthrow her. She then forced a kiss on Miyamoto as thanks or something and then left. (Seriously, I can count three female characters that forced a kiss on Miyamoto.) Chizu is a possible love interest for Miyamoto in the series.

I haven't finished the comics. But after a quick scan in Wiki, I find out she also fails to lead her clan and became a fugitive.

More on Samurai Rabbit's Chizu

SR Chizu has something like a mother complex but a third secret thing with Neko ninja crew leader Lady Fuwa. She was kidnapped as a baby by Lady Fuwa and was trained to be a weapon alongside other cat orphans.

So she kinda has a "You raised us but you kidnapped us. You destroyed our childhood for your gain but I wouldn't be here if not for you. You lie and cheat and backstab including me but I don't want to kill you" complicated thing with her.

Despite ninjas being famous for deception, she's the most strait-laced character in the group.

She tried to be loyal to Lady Fuwa. But Yuichi, Gen, and Kitsune reminded her of her childhood friend that Lady Fuwa took away so that Chizu wouldn't have any other bonds but her. It was Kitsune who was most hurt by her betrayal and Chizu made every effort to make it up to her.

Similar to rottmnt Donnie, she has a dry sense of humor. But again, that's where the similarity stops. If Donnie has evil-scientist-vibes, I think Chizu needs to be reminded to get loose sometimes. Well, at least Kitsune's there to remind her.

She really tried to lead the clan to no crimes but she has so much to learn first. Her clan, with the exception of one who was still loyal to her, turned on her in favor of Lady Fuwa.

Other Stuff I Can Remember about Samurai Rabbit's Chizu

Chizu fights with a kaiksihi weapon bow and arrow, along with her ninja gear of throwing stars and wrist-mounted crossbows. She's also familiar on how to use the naginata (it's like the Japanese version of a polearm).

Is ship-teased with Usagi but it's probably a callback on the Usagi Yojimbo comics.

Has gay energy with Kitsune.

Is looked up to by Hana and the other ninja kittens.

Tetsujin

Based on a sunbear, Tetsujin is the last warrior and guardian of the mystical ki-stone aka Kaikishi warrior. He's the tech guy of the group and his form became that of a sci-fi ghost because of the ki-stone.

He and Lady Fuwa used to be together (which neither Usagi, Gen, Kitsune nor Chizu wants to hear about), but it turned out Lady Fuwa was just using him.

Yuichi Usagi's Aunt

Usagi's Aunt's name is not yet known despite two seasons. She's not based on the Usagi Yojimbo comics. She taught Usagi everything he knows about sword fighting.

Although there was an implication of war a long time ago, judging by Usagi's aunt's leg and ear prosthetics, and that Usagi's parents are nowhere to be seen, there doesn't seem to be any samurais in Neo Edo.

Did She Ever Give Usagi Formal Training on How to be a Samurai? I don't know.

I'm not sure if she has formally taught him how to be a samurai, aside from sword fighting, such as the samurais' philosophies, virtues, and principles. But Usagi once quoted her words about protecting those who need to be protected. So it's possible.

But unlike Miyamoto Usagi, Yuichi Usagi didn't follow the traditional path of being a samurai:

Miyamoto received his sword, Willowbranch, when he was acknowledged by his lord and future master, Lord Mifune, upon proving himself in a tournament.

For Yuichi Usagi, he was given his Aunt's sword, Edgewing, when he wanted to go out to the city. In the Usagi Yojimbo comics, the sword of a samurai is his soul. But it doesn't seem to be the case for Edgewing.

So maybe it's more informal? Since Yuichi Usagi seems to be the only samurai around, the samurai tradition may have become obsolete by the time Yuichi Usagi became Miyamoto Usagi's thousand-year descendant. Similar to how the samurai class was abolished in the late 1860s. But that's just my assumptions.

Did They Pass Down Katsuichi's Unique Style of Swordfighitng? I don't know either.

It is Katsuichi, Miyamoto's sensei, whom Miyamoto learned the way of the sword that had made him a great samurai. But it is not yet confirmed if Usagi's aunt learned the same style.

How does the Yuichi Line Connect to Miyamoto Usago? I don't know that either.

While Miyamoto Usagi is acknowledged as their ancestor, it didn't say in the show if Usagi and his Aunt came from the line of Miyamoto's paternal cousin, Yamamoto Yukichi, or from a descendant of (surname unknown) Jotaro, Miyamoto's son that was raised by his childhood love, Mariko, and childhood rival, Kenichi.

Hana and the other Ninja Orphan Kittens

In the Samurai Rabbit series, Hana and the other orphan ninjas are basically child soldiers. Chizu and Usagi rescued them and the orphans now lived a peaceful life with Usagi's aunt.

They still have a long way to go as they're still trying to get used to civilian life without looting or destroying property (as they did when Usagi and Gen took them on an outing).

Karasu-Tengu

Karasu-Tengu is the Master Yokai of all martial arts and also a nature yokai who doesn't like how Neo Edo had become because it destroyed a forest for it to become so big.

She was going to seclude herself into the deeper parts of the forests to protect and live in it. But Usagi figured out where to find her. She tried to shoo him away like how one would be whacking a slipper after a bug, Usagi fights her as he asks for her to be his sensei.

In the end, Usagi proved himself worthy, and they make a funny pair by how small and harmless Usagi looks like next to her -similar to Miaymoto and his sensei.

Samurai Rabbit has a lot of references to the Usagi Yojimbo comics with more characters. But this post is long enough.

Misplaced AU Leo with Usagi’s friends!!

So when Leo arrives at Neo Edo he becomes friends with all of Usagi’s friends. Here’s his relationship with each of them:

Gen and Leo (Top Left Corner): Leo actually really likes Gen. He loves his company probably because Gen reminds Leo of Raph. Gen also likes Leo too. He likes how he can actually plan things and LOVES the fact that Leo is a medic. Gen will go to Leo to check for his medical needs and Leo will check for him while teasing him a little.

Leo and Kitsune (Bottom Left Corner): When they first meet Kitsune actually didn’t like Leo. Thought he was a goodie-two-shoes, then she actually spoke to him and realize how wrong she was. The two love hanging out and causing some chaos, Leo does make sure they don’t do too much damage but they have fun nonetheless. Kitsune reminds Leo of Mikey a lot so he really enjoys her company a lot. FYI Kitsune LOVES the fact that Leo can glow and Leo will have his stripe glow just for her.

Leo and Chizu (Top and Bottom Right Corners): So the Top Corner is when they first meet, they didn’t like each other at all. Leo had a vibe about Chizu that he wasn’t sure. He could tell there was something wrong with her but also felt the need to help her for some reason. Meanwhile Chizu kept insisting to everyone that they shouldn’t trust Leo because he was a ninja and he was going to betray them (Oof HEAVY projecting there)

However after some time passes the two of them do become friends. They actually really enjoy each other’s company a lot. Leo helps Chizu loosen up a lot and lets her have more fun and Leo learns to balance when he needs to be more serious. Then we get to Chizu’s betrayal…I won’t spoil that sorry folks

Update on the fic, I was working on the first chapter, hated it and restarting it again so that’s fun. Anways, it will come out eventually, I just need to actually get the actual episodes. Anyways love you all and stay creative!!

Lineups and outfit ideas for my TMNT x USAGI mega-crossover! Pt 1!

Heyo! so this was done a while ago (summer and a bit of autumn) but I wasn't in the mood to post it yet as I was very busy this past year.

Here we have: Gen, Chizu, Kitsune and Usagi in undercover outfit ideas for when they find themselves in New York city in 2023, where they're found out by a few strange older turtles... and some of the 2003 cast from 2023! Don't worry, I have another sheet for Mikey and Donnie, they are not absent from this crossover :)

Hope you enjoy! These were very fun to draw and put together :) I'm particularly proud of that Gen and Kitsune!

Hey yo! XD I bring sketches.

Sorry I haven't been posting for a bit outside of comic updates. Had to take a step back from social media. But I'm back now and I have a ton of stuff to share.

To kick things off, I have some sketches of my YGO next gens, Yuichi and Momoka Mutou. If the faces they are making look familiar, it's because the faces they're making are based off faces their parents have made. It's kind of the idea of, when you make a certain face, you somewhat look like your parent. So Yuichi and Momoka have a mix of Yugi and Anzu's facial expressions. (And Yuichi has a bit of Atem as well lol)

Honestly this was a fun exercise to flesh out these two more. <3 I have so much more I wanna talk about with these two but I don't wanna barrage you guys. Slow and steady now.

Pillow Talk (Usagi x Chizu)

Yuichi Usagi is still leaning against the door after ogling at Chizu in the bedroom, covering his mouth with his hands while being lovestruck. He heard a quiet knock on the door behind him, he opened the door, and it was Chizu.

"Chizu? I... I didn't know you were still awake... I thought you were going to sleep." said Yuichi Usagi. "I was going to, but I gotta ask... is it ok that I could sleep with you tonight?" Said Chizu. When she asked Usagi "can she sleep with him in bed together?", Usagi's eyes opened wide with shock and excitement.

"Oh my gosh! Yes, yes! She wants to sleep with me tonight! Oh yeah, baby! Yeah!" shouted Usagi's voice in his thoughts. "Why, yes you may," said Usagi. "Thank you," said Chizu, smiling before coming into the room. Usagi makes sure no one's around before closing the door. Chizu takes her robe off, revealing her bra and thong. Usagi watches her taking off her night robe, blushing with lovestruck. Chizu sits on the bed before she stretches, while Usagi lays back on the left spot of the bed. Chizu lies next to Usagi, placing her hand on his chest. Chizu feels Usagi's heartbeat going fast with nervousness and excitement.

"Uh, Usagi?" said Chizu. "Yeah?" said Usagi. "Why is your heart beating so fast? Are you OK?" said Chizu. Oh, yeah, I'm fine... I'm all good." said Usagi, trying to be normal. "It's just that I never had anyone sleeping with me until now," said Usagi. "So, this is your first time, huh?" said Chizu, smirking flirtatiously. "Yeah," said Usagi. "I was wondering about earlier, I heard someone sneeze. Was it you sneezing?" Said Chizu. "Yeah... It was me, that dust is killing my nose right now." Said Usagi.

"I'm pretty sure Gen will probably clean the dust off, so that you won't be sneezing so much." Said Chizu. "Yeah... Hey, Chizu?" Said Usagi. "Yes?" Said Chizu. "Is it true that you were staring at my butt the whole time when I was dressed up?" Said Yuichi Usagi.

"I had to admit, it's true. I stared at you and your handsome body, and even your butt. And I have to admit that you got a nice butt, not gonna lie though." Said Chizu.

Usagi blushed, he smiled with pure cuteness.

"There's something you should know, too... I stared at you and your beautiful curvy body back, I didn't know you wore a thong before." Said Usagi. "Wait, really?" Said Chizu. "Yeah, I mean. You're naturally beautiful and pretty. And your eyes are so charming." Said Usagi.

Chizu blushes very hard.

They looked at each other within 10 seconds with flirtation and passion, their faces went closer and then they share a one big, passionate kiss.

After a one big kiss, they're spooning and cuddling for the first time. Usagi lays beside as the big spoon, while Chizu is in a little spoon position.

They're both resting, a grinning Usagi strokes her hair while she is sleeping. Yuichi Usagi finally closes his eyes and they both sleep together.

The Next Day...

Chizu, Kitsune and Toshiko are hanging out, Usagi came by slapping Chizu in the butt, surprising her.

"Hey, Chizu." Said Usagi. "Hey." Said Chizu, blushing. They embraced like a couple. "Whoa, what's going on there?" Said Toshiko. "Did you guys hook up last night?" Asked Kitsune.

"Nooooo, but we just had a flirty pillow talk." Said Yuichi Usagi. "Yeah, we kissed one time while flirting in bed. That's it." Said Chizu. "Oh. My. God." Said Toshiko and Kitsune, shocked. "Whaaat?" Said Gen, shocked as he listened the conversation about last night.

"Yeah, we did have our kiss last night." Said Usagi. "Yeah." Said Chizu. "I gotta wake Spot up." Said Usagi before he leaves.

Chizu slaps and grabs Usagi's butt, surprises Usagi and causing him to blush and smile.

"Oh, Lord..." Said Kitsune, laughing. "What was that?" Said Toshiko. "I spanked him." Said Chizu.

"Chizu, you lucky cat!" Said Kitsune.

I don't ship Leosagi/Leuichi.

I don't dislike the ship. I just don't ship it.

Legit in SIL Leo and Yuichi are exes. It's uncomfortable for both of them. They don't hate each other.

But just because Jayden is a Holland Lop(species of rabbit) doesn't make them Usagi.

Just because Leo is married with kids with said rabbit, doesn't make it Leosagi.

It's kinda frustrating and a little insulting to see comments/asks/tags relating to it.

Not every rabbit x turtle is that. So please don't assume that Jayden is their own character. They aren't Usagi.

Somewhere in between overthinking Leonardo’s ‘date’ comment, being reassured by every single one of his closest friends and Leonardo’s own unchanged nature in their texts that it was just a figure of speech, and picking apart all of his other mild panic attacks over things that were probably pointless to determine how much of a freak he actually is, Yuichi breaks his promise to his aunt.

His thoughts are all turtle-shaped. Turtles all the way down. So his total ignorance about that invasion a little over a month ago has become this black hole in his brain. His curiosity is overpowering. He has to know.

Here’s the thing: the Hidden City has its own dedicated cell service, network space sourced from one of the major human carriers, but the internet is another story.

Yuichi’s phone doesn’t have a tether to an internet hotspot the way most of his friends’ do. It’s a lot of money and auntie already has enough monthly expenses as it is. Besides, between work and training and helping around the farm and wrangling five cousins, Yuichi has always had plenty to keep himself busy. When something really worthwhile happens online, Yuichi can count on Kitsune crawling through his bedroom window to make sure he sees it, or hearing all about it from Sunita at work.

He could probably ask one of them if he could use their WiFi and they would most likely say yes. There’s even a tiny hole-in-the-wall internet cafe somewhere in the more urban side of the Hidden City. Yuichi has options that don’t include breaking the rule Auntie has yet to rescind.

Here’s the thing. Yuichi is going to the human world.

He tends to jump in without thinking. It’s something every adult who has had more than a passing influence over him in his formative years has despaired over. He’s impulsive, reckless, he’s heard it all a hundred times.

But when his intuition points him somewhere, Yuichi follows. It’s the only time in his life he doesn’t overthink, he just goes. Sometimes it gets him into trouble. Other times it leads him toward something amazing. It’s how he found his sensei, how he met his best friends, the reason he has a magnetized yo-yo in his pocket, plucked cheerfully from the wall of an ancient temple he had no business wandering into, one that had disappeared by the next day when he tried to show Gen.

Now his gut feeling is telling him he needs to see for himself. He needs to understand.

So he slips out of bed when everyone else in the house has gone to sleep, already dressed. He ties up his ears, wraps a dark gray haori over his usual whites and navy blues, and lifts Edgewing carefully from its stand in his room to belt at his hip, just in case.

His door eases open quietly, and by some miracle he manages to avoid all the squeaky floorboards as he creeps across the landing and turns to lower himself down the short ladder to the second floor landing.

Spot watches him from the doorway, beady black eyes reproachful.

“Don’t look at me like that,” Yuichi whispers, refusing to feel any kind of guilty pang. “I’ll be back before anyone knows I’m gone.”

He makes it to the second floor landing without a sound, and he feels really good about it until a voice from behind him says, “Bet you won’t.”

If he didn’t recognize that voice he would have shrieked. As it is, his heart still leaps up into his throat, and he whirls around to hiss, “Yuma! You should be asleep!”

“Pot, kettle,” his eldest cousin says boredly. She’s actually almost a full month older than Yuichi, something she never lets him forget. “Are you really sneaking out to see a boy right now? I thought I wouldn’t have to deal with this sort of thing until Momiji was older.”

“I don’t like what you’re implying,” Yuichi says, doing what he always does when he’s uncomfortable and shutting down. Hands balled in the bottoms of his sleeves he adds shortly, “I just want to use the internet.”

Naturally, Yuma breezes right past his defenses like they aren’t even there.

“I know, moron, I heard you talking to Spot. I already texted you an address. Go up to the roof and join the network I gave you. For some godforsaken reason it isn’t password protected and it’s 5G.”

Yuichi blinks, then narrows his eyes at her. That sounds like a sideways admission that his mild-mannered cousin has been sneaking out to the human world on the regular.

“We’re talking about this later,” he says sternly.

“No one will ever believe you,” Yuma replies, and closes her bedroom door in his face.

At least there are no more surprises waiting for him as he creeps through the house and out the kitchen door into the side yard. Then he books it for the garage, footsteps falling silently in the overgrown grass.

When he slides the accordion doors open, he finds Spot sitting on the seat of his motorbike like he’s been waiting there for hours, long tail curled comfortably around his folded legs.

He gives Yuichi another judgmental look. Yuichi gets the feeling that Spot is less annoyed about sneaking out in general than he is about being left behind.

“Okay, okay,” Yuichi says, unwilling to admit to the stubborn lizard that his tiny presence gives Yuichi courage. “I guess you can come along.”

He pushes his bike down the road, until the lantern on the fence post in front of his house is out of sight, then he slides into the seat, pulls his helmet on, and brings it to life with a roar. Spot climbs up to his shoulder and coils neatly around his neck.

The way is familiar. It’s not a long drive. The Hidden City bustles at night, and no one looks twice at the motorbike tearing down the street. There are plenty of doors to the human world that aren’t policed or even registered, and Yuichi’s friends always use the one between the bath house and the laundromat, because it opens up into a tiny crooked side street in Manhattan, only a few city blocks away from all the action.

But as soon as he crosses over, a chill runs down his spine. Right away, those prey-animal instincts kick in. He stops the bike with a shudder, pulling up short and tugging his helmet off quickly. His surroundings are wrong. Something is wrong.

Yuichi has been here before. He knows this place. Him and all his friends came up here together just last year to watch a brightly-colored parade. If he didn’t recognize the street signs on the corner, the faded billboard across the street, he would never have believed he was in the same spot.

It’s as if a massive tornado rolled through and demolished everything. The road is all torn up, buildings folded into piles of rubble and rebar. He can trace the path of destruction as easily as if he’s watching Jomei drive a toy tractor through a pile of blocks.

If Yuichi’s ears weren’t tied up, they’d be pressed flat to the back of his head. His whiskers are slicked and his fur is bristling and his heart is about to runaway without him.

Spot’s weight against his leg reminds him to move. The tokage presses his head against Yuichi’s stomach, grounding him.

“Okay,” Yuichi says hoarsely, stooping to pick his little friend up and hold him against his chest. For his protection or Spot’s, he isn’t sure. “Let me hide the bike, and then we’ll go up.”

He’s shaky for some reason. The climb up to the top of the nearest building takes him whole minutes longer than it should, even with the convenient fire escape. He puts the address Yuma gave him into the GPS on his phone and it gives him an eleven minute walking route. Normally he’d have a good time rooftop running, but his heart isn’t in it.

The destruction is everywhere. The invasion left a visible footprint on this city. Yuichi sits on the ledge of the rooftop Yuma told him to find, tucks Spot against his side under the warmth of his haori, and connects to the open network.

He’s still doing this. He’s come all the way here. But now dread is beginning to outweigh curiosity.

The information he’s looking for isn’t hard to find. It’s still trending on social media. There’s a wealth of knowledge immediately available, and he doesn’t know exactly where to start, so he dives right in.

The videos are all a mess, shaking wildly or auto focusing through smoke and ash, unable to capture the full scale of the chaos within the frame. But there are thousands of them, uploaded by thousands of people, and one by one they piece together a story.

The sky that day was dark, even though the timestamps suggest that it should have been a little after noon. There was something horrible in the sky, some great hole torn open between the clouds and the reaching tips of the skyscrapers, allowing a giant ship to come through.

The size of the ship is immense, its own gravity field beginning to rip up the city before it’s even a quarter of the way through. Floating debris fills the sky. Buildings crumble and the rubble crashes into the ground at deadly speed.

People are shrieking, running, crying. Grotesque, contorted figures covered in squishy pink stuff, fill the streets dripping with tentacle limbs and glowing yellow eyes—and oh god, Yuichi realizes, those were humans. Turning on their friends and family like feral animals, puppeteered by that sick goo.

The humans try fighting back, of course they do. Their military assembles within the first hour, but it’s a joke. Their strongest defenses, their heaviest hitters, do absolutely nothing.

There’s a sense of hopelessness in these documented chronicles. Fear and uncertainty and despair. This danger is so big. Nowhere is safe to run.

A couple of times, in just a handful of uploads, Yuichi sees glimpses of a girl in yellow—it must be April—fighting alongside a masked boy her age and a small furry creature. Her face and the boy’s, when it’s not covered by his mask, are always conveniently blurred no matter what video they appear in, cellphone recordings or CCTV footage, and there’s no way to make heads or tails of the smaller creature running alongside them.

Yuichi is inclined to give credit for that to Donatello and the limitless scope of his tech savvy, protecting his family in one of the most understated, most important ways he can.

And then Yuichi finds it.

One person posted a video they took from their bedroom window, where they had hunkered down with their family to try to ride this whole thing out. They zoomed in as far as their camera would allow, and only then does Yuichi see what they’re trying to capture.

There are four small indistinct figures racing forward, meeting this giant looming danger head on. Flashes of bright light, of vibrant color, fighting back.

Leonardo and his family. It couldn’t be anyone else. Yuichi recognizes those familiar flares of spinning blue, his friend’s portals opening and closing at dizzying speeds, carrying his brothers toward an impossible threat.

There are dozens of videos of the same moment—triumph, incredulity, hysterical relief as the portal suddenly closes around the center of the ship, and the whole thing is finally destroyed.  

Yuichi doesn’t know why any yokai would choose to live in the human world, where they constantly have to hide what they really are, their true selves. But he doesn’t need to understand that choice to respect it.

And when the horror has faded to a dull scar in the back of his mind, Yuichi will have to grapple with awe and pride, too.

This strange, messy, human city is where the Hamatos have made their home. And when the time came to fight for it, they fought tooth and nail.

Somehow, Yuichi has more questions than he started with. He knows now that the invasion his auntie and neighbors speak of in hushed tones when they don’t think any children are around to overhear was of the world-ending variety, and he knows that no matter what the human news outlets have to say about it, it’s thanks to his friend’s family that the city is still standing.

Yuichi has no idea how Leonardo won. He doesn’t know what happened to him up there, how he could have been injured so badly he wound up in a coma, when he and his brothers have always seemed so indestructible, when just yesterday he said they were made to take a hit.

It���s frightening that all of this happened one magic doorway away from where Yuichi lives. He feels for the hilt of Edgewing and grips it, wrestling with a sense of guilt and inferiority and uselessness.

It’s really scary that Leonardo could have died and Yuichi wouldn’t have known until weeks later. No one would have thought to tell him. No one realized he and Leonardo were friends.

He has to change. He has to do better.

He spends the next few hours stuck in a mindless TikTok scroll, wrapping up his educational evening with celebratory videos of friends and family reuniting, of rescued people coming home, of mom-and-pop stores reopening with the help of their local communities, of crazy parties on rooftops and strangers with their arms around each other screaming proof of their existence at the empty sky.

All around Yuichi, there are already signs of rebuilding. The lights are as blinding as they’ve ever been. The humans are doing what humans do best—carrying on, living through it.

This is the world that Leonardo and his family were raised in. The world that shaped them into the people they are. They’re not human but they live the way humans do—clinging stubbornly to survival and the people they love and the place they call home

Yuichi sets his phone on the ledge beside his knee, lifts Spot into his lap, and drinks in the sights for a little while longer. Somewhere down the street, he can hear music. People are laughing. He doesn’t know this city very well, but he thinks he can understand why it’s worth fighting for.

After all, someone he cares about lives here.

Yuichi laughs out loud, sitting on the edge of a building somewhere in Manhattan, ten stories above the rushing cars and the constant foot traffic and the steady forward heartbeat of humanity.

Maybe he can find some things to love about this place for himself. He hopes so. Because the next time Leonardo needs to defend it, Yuichi is going to be there, too.

AU Name: Crazy Little Thing Called Life

AU Summary: Take Rise TMNT and Samurai Rabbit into a crossover world where they’re just normal human people with no magic or mystics, just living and experiencing this crazy little thing called life (hehe) and just go through normal human things.

Bruh so this is kinda embarrassing but my brain got scrambled really bad every time I tried to organize it so I’ll just tell you guys in paragraph form (´ω`)

Starting off on the ROTTMNT side, the Hamato kids are blasian but only Raph, Mikey and Frida are half Haitian since I’m making Big Mama Haitian but Donnie and Leo aren’t since their bio mom was born in the U.S. Splinter is still Japanese lol and Draxum is Native American, specifically Cherokee. Hueso is Mexican and born in Yucatán (I will not elaborate any further or else I’ll never post this thing bc I’ll over complicate my answer), Casey is wasian with her mom being Japanese and her dad being a white American and Foot Lieutenant and Brute are her gay uncles and they’re Japanese too but Brute’s been in the US way longer than Lieutenant, April stays the same as a Black American and Sunita is blasian as her dad’s also a black American but her mom is Indian. Mona will also be in and I’m writing her as Polynesian Hawaiian.

Now with the Samurai rabbit side. This is pretty easy since they’re all Japanese BUT Chizu is half Filipino, Gen has Polynesian roots from his dad’s side and Kitsune is Ainu which is a small indigenous group in the north side of Japan. Usagi, his aunt, Hana and Kiyoko are mainlanders so they’re pretty “average” I suppose you can say even though it feels icky saying that given Japan got their issues when it comes to people they don’t deem as Japanese

Legally married for nearly a decade but close to the end of their marriage they (more so Big Mama) opened their relationship so they could see/be with other people if they wanted to (Yoshi only saw 1 person and it led to Leo and Donnie to be conceived lmao)

Biological parents of Frida, Raph, and Mikey

Met the same way as they did in canon

Few years down the road Big Mama would later became Splinter’s boss for a bit since she got a huge promotion to be his manager (she’s just that girl ✨💵✨)

Were on bad terms for a while but for the sake of the kids learned to be civil with each other so they could healthily co-parent

Yoshi/Draxum (Current)

Started off as just a professional relationship as Yoshi hired Berry to be his personal chef since he was pretty much on his own taking care of the tots and cooking wasn’t really his specialty (spoiler, Berry wasn’t good at it either) and one thing lead to another and somehow Berry just stuck to the Hamatos since the tots saw him as their 2nd dad

They don’t want to label what they got going on but they do be cuddling each other most sometimes in bed

Yoshi/Dona (Past)

Had a rough introduction at the library after accidentally bumping into her and making her spill her coffee onto her shirt. She didn’t like that at all that it took nearly 2 months for her to forgive him

Started as just library buddies until she invited him out clubbing and then after series of events ended up in a friends with benefits type relationship

They were 30 and 29 when they had Leo and Donnie; Dona would’ve also been 30 if she hadn’t died a month before her birthday :( (yes I’m evil)

A lot of their hangouts consisted of them staying inside Dona’s studio, drink wine or smoke herb and vent about their childhood trauma with Depeche Mode or The Cranberries playing in the background

Yoshi didnt know Dona was pregnant until five months into her pregnancy when she finally confessed to him because she initially didn’t want to keep them but had no choice because she didn’t know she was even pregnant until she suddenly felt really sick and after a trip to the doctors found out she already close to her 2nd trimester already so she couldn’t get an abortion even if she wanted to.

There’s a lot more drama with them but I’ll just reveal that stuff in my future fics

In conclusion. Yoshi just has a thing for pretty and intelligent people who are mean to him and I think he’s so real for that 👍

Foot lieutenant/Foot brute

Leoichi but make it Oblivious x Oblivious

It was a fight at first sight.

Yuichi Usagi and his friends were running away from Big Mama. They went up and out of the Hidden City, but when they saw the turtles, they thought they were Big Mama’s henchmen.

It reminded Usagi of Miyamoto Usagi’s adventures of fighting ninjas. 

Usagi was first drawn to the one wielding swords. 

“Ohohoho! Bunny wants to play!” was the first words Leo ever said to him as their swords clashed.

Usagi scowled. “I don’t play, but when I do,” his voice went deeper, “I always win,” just like how his ancestor would do. Probably.

The groans were far louder this time. It was because it wasn’t only Gen, Chizu, and Kitsune who were doing it. 

“This isn’t one of your comics, Usagi!”

“Oh Galileo Galilei, there’s two of them!” said the purple one.

But Usagi wasn’t listening because there was a reluctant but growing delight in the turtle’s eyes (back when Usagi hadn’t known what he was carrying)

When the big plot was done, and they had to go home, the turtles and their group stayed in touch. 

It was Yuichi Usagi who introduced Leo to the Usagi Yojimbo comics.

It was Leo who introduced Usagi to Jupiter Jim comics.

The Usagi Yojimbo comics had a good chapter on kite-making in ancient Japan, Leo wanted to cut some bamboo to make a kite for the heck of it.

They did so when they went to the Usagi farm. It somehow caught on fire. 

Everything in New York, including the Hidden City, is so big that Usagi is always craning up his neck to talk to someone.

Leo has a habit of casually draping over his brothers, and Usagi became included in it when they became friends.

When they have to talk to a yokai, Usagi noticed that Leo would try to look comfortably confident by draping an arm around his shoulders with his face side-by-side with Yuichi’s. But also to force the yokai to look at both of them.

Yuichi, who had wanted to hug Gen, Kitsune and Chizu the moment they became friends, didn’t mind. 

The yokai in question would raise a brow but not comment; when they’d notice that Usagi would slightly stand up on his toes and nuzzle from the turtle’s contact.   

Everyone thought Leo and Usagi would start dating. But Usagi was sixteen and still chasing after his ancestor’s legacy. And Leo was sixteen and still trying to “make up” for losing the key and almost destroying the world. 

But Leo and Usagi carved up a day to spend together -be it New York or Neo Edo- just to hang out and talk about comics or swords or how Leo had to always make his best guesses on turtle mutant biology based on human med books and vet books or that Yuichi’s favorite yokai to draw was the Dare Mo because they don’t have faces and faces are difficult to draw. 

Or things that Leo couldn’t confide in his family without feeling like he was burdening them, or Usagi couldn’t say to his Aunt because he was supposed to be grown now or to his friends without worrying them.

It became their own thing.

Usagi knew that his ancestor had a rival since childhood (Kenichi) who married his first love (Mariko). Usagi was thankful that if Leo was his rival in swords, they at least were friends. 

He knew it was stupid, but what if he and Leo both fell in love with the same girl just like Miyamoto and Kenichi? Usagi never bothered with the romance aspect of his ancestor’s comic biography. If there was anything the comics had taught him, love was only a hindrance to the way of the samurai. 

While meeting his own “Mariko” sounded nice once he would choose to settle down, Usagi found himself thinking about his own “Kenichi” more.  

Usagi found out Leo was gay. Leo shrugged and said he just didn’t feel like wanting to date yet. The fact that Leo’s only reference to romance was his father’s doomed affair didn’t help with wanting to commit that way outside his family.

Usagi wondered if they would still have one weekend to themselves if Leo began to date. 

Usagi once saw Leo turning on the “Leo charm” to persuade someone to give them info. Usagi didn’t like it but kept it to himself. 

Leo noticed it anyway. Because Usagi’s foot was thumping irritably.

Usagi mellowed a bit after Leo told him that he wasn’t being serious, the guy wasn’t even that cute, and that Usagi would always be his best friend. 

Usagi was about to tease, “Do you like me?” like he did with Chizu after she hugged him in relief. For some reason, he found himself hesitating. 

He never asked.

In a true Yuichi Usagi fashion, Usagi one night worried what if he also liked boys and he and Leo would fight over the same boy?!
