Lineups and outfit ideas for my TMNT x USAGI mega-crossover! Pt 1!

Heyo! so this was done a while ago (summer and a bit of autumn) but I wasn't in the mood to post it yet as I was very busy this past year.

Here we have: Gen, Chizu, Kitsune and Usagi in undercover outfit ideas for when they find themselves in New York city in 2023, where they're found out by a few strange older turtles... and some of the 2003 cast from 2023! Don't worry, I have another sheet for Mikey and Donnie, they are not absent from this crossover :)

Wanted to draw Usagi with the tots in his world. It kind of looks like Leo's POV, and he's falling for him again, which I found cute, so I kept it ushwwkauha

Okay just so y'all know...

Leoichi and Leosagi are two completely different ships!! They are NOT the same!!

They are both Leonardo focused ships, yes, HOWEVER it's Leo being shipped with two separate characters.

"Leosagi" is Leonardo x Miyamoto Usagi

This ship mostly grew after the popularity of TMNT 2003 with Leo's close friendship with the character Miyamoto Usagi.

"Leoichi" is Leonardo x Yuichi Usagi

Yuichi is the main character of Netflix's show Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles. He is the descendant of Miyamoto Usagi. Also unlike Usagi, Yuichi is NOT a TMNT character, he is from his own franchise entirely, but fans have been shipping him with both Rise Leo and 2012 Leo.

Edit: I originally had this in the tags but I’ll say it here; when I say Usagi is a TMNT character, I'm aware he's apart of his own franchise, but he's well know to crossover with TMNT. He's interacted with many TMNT characters and been in TMNT series such as 1987, 2012, and as mentioned earlier, 2003. Yuichi has not, so Usagi can classify as apart of the TMNT character roster, but overall Usagi has his own franchise, but sadly lots of fans don't know that

And the most important detail to know is...

Yuichi and Usagi are NOT the same character!!

So please if you’re making ship art or a fanfic of Leo with Yuichi and tag it as “Leosagi” that is the incorrect ship name and vice verse.

Hopefully this helps so people can know the difference and tags things more properly and not get non shippers and new Leosagi and Leoichi shippers confused, cause even I will admit it can get confusing.

I've always really liked Usagi's design, and the few times I've seen them in crossover moments, I've enjoyed the interactions. Though, I can't say I've seen them together enough to have an opinion on the ship XD I can imagine why it would be popular though, from what I remember. (Added platonic cause they're already friends)

Also, looking for Usagi art made me want to find a place I could read his comic XD

Various pieces of information from the Rise Q&A back in February

It was revealed that there are other Hidden Cities other than the one seen in Rise & there had been plans for the Turtles to visit the Hidden City beneath Tokyo.

2. Splinter was able to use Leo's mystic odachi so easily due to the fact that Splinter had spent a lot of time in the Hidden City & because of this Splinter has a great deal of mystic knowledge, with Splinter also having developed his mystic abilities but he has stopped using those abilities until the events of the series.

3. More information was given about the missing Turtle Siblings & it was stated the Frida, Big Mama's Assistant would have most likely joined her brothers during the future timeline, it was also stated that the other missing Turtle Sibling would have possibly been named Camille after Camille Claudel.

4. When asked on how a Dungeons & Dragons episode would go it was stated that April would be the DM, Raph would be a fighter class, Mikey would be an illusionist, Leo would be an assassin or thief & Donnie would insist on being a scientist since he's sure that there was 'at least one sensible person back then'.

5. The Rise version of Renet could have possibly been used to explore different timelines that might have happened if certain events in the movie had happened differently.

6. After the events of the movie Casey is traveling around the world fighting remnants of the Krang & the Foot Clan.

7. When asked about the Turtle's relationship with Draxum it was stated that in contrast to Mikey who accepted Draxum the most easily, Leo is the most skeptical however it was also stated that Leo would have eventually 'gotten over' his grudge towards Draxum as there were multiple scrapped episodes planned where Leo & Draxum would have been forced to work together.

8. There were plans for the Turtles to eventually go to the Krang's original dimension meaning that it would have been likely for the Turtles to encounter the traditional dimension X/Z stuff such as the Neutrinos.

9. When asked about Casey Junior's relationship with the past/ present version of Leo it was stated that despite it being slightly different due to them being around the same age now Casey Junior can't help but still view Leo as a father figure.

10. It was stated that Splinter has never celebrated the Turtle's Birthdays in the past due to it being to closely related to his negative feelings towards his own mutation however it was also stated that after Splinter's development in the series he would start celebrating the Turtle's Birthday with them.

11. The reason that the Future Version of Leonardo was the one who raised Casey Junior was stated that it was due to the fact that the Future Version of Leonardo had a special affinity for Casey Junior & also felt particularly responsible for Casey Junior after his mother was gone.

12. When asked what the Rise version of Miyamoto Usagi would have been like it was revealed that a possible plan for Usagi was that his home dimension would have been overrun by the Krang causing Usagi to travel to the Turtles dimension for help due to them being the only ones who have ever defeated the Krang.

13. When discussing crossovers between TMNT iterations it was stated that a crossover between Rise & the 1987 cartoon or the 2003 cartoon would have been a possibility due to them also being 2D animated series.

14. April & Sunita were planned to have more 'girls night' episodes together.

It was also stated that Casey would have possibly have developed a dynamic with both April & Sunita so there is also a possibility that Casey would have been included in the 'girls night' episodes with April & Sunita as well.

I’m just asking you bc I don’t know who else to ask :,))) but yes they are confusing

So nearly every turtle except Rise has had a crossover with Miyamoyo Usagi written by Stan Sakai. The creators of TMNT have been creating crossovers with his comic “Usagi Yojimbo” (meaning Samurai Rabbit). A lot of people get confused and think Yojimbo is his name but that really just means “bodyguard”, so it’s more his profession.

Usagi’s first cartoon TMNT appearance was in the original 1987, where he was misnamed as Yojimbo (lol even the writers do it!)

Then he was in the 2003 series as an every now and then guest. Usagi and Leonardo were close friends, who bonded almost instantly during the Battle Nexus Championship, and later Usagi even came in to help Leo during a time when he was doubting himself and his skills.

In 2012 Miyamoto Usagi was introduced in the three part special “Yojimbo” during the 5th season. He and Leonardo butt heads at first, both thinking they knew the best way to lead, but eventually they learned to work together. In 2012 I’d say their friendship wasn’t as focused on as in 2003 or the comics, but those three episodes are probably the best episodes of the 2012 series. I’d definitely give them a watch even if you don’t want to check out ‘12 as a whole.

And then, unfortunately in Rise, we never got to see Miyamoto Usagi. I think there were plans, but most of the fandom saw Netflix’s new series “Samurai Rabbit: the Usagi Chronicles” and its main character Yuichi Usagi

Yuichi is the descendant of Miyamoto Usagi, and seemingly much more carefree and goofy. I can’t say for sure, as I’ve never actually seen the show, but I believe that’s what drew a lot of the fandom to his character for Rise Leo. They both have similar temperaments and were airing at similar time frames. I think us older fans tend to go with Miyamoto, since they’ve already got the history of being friends, but Leo x Yuichi is certainly interesting too! It’s definitely up to fandom interpretation, since we never got a canon personality or name drop for him!
