The Danganronpa books are all really good and here's why you should read them.

Danganronpa Zero is a really good origin story that explores junko's character and the a lot of the shady stuff with Hope's Peak along with introducing a lot of things that would become staples of the series like Izuru Kamukura and the reserve course. It's also consistently referenced all throughout the series.

Danganronpa Kirigiri is not only a great origin story for Kyoko, it also has plenty of great new characters, interesting mysteries, and amazing themes. The author would even go on to work on Danganronpa v3 and create all the crazy murder methods in that game. In my personal opinion this is probably the best written entry in the entire series.

Danganronpa IF is not only a fun what if story but also a great character study of Mukuro who now finally understands her sister and recontextualizes a lot of things, it's also just really fun in general.

Makoto Naegi Secret File is a short but entertaining story about the events that led Makoto to becoming a student at Hope's Peak. It adds some neat context and some interesting foreshadowing, plus it's just really weird lol.

Not my favorite (least favorite actually) but Danganronpa Togami is an absolutely insane read with one of the most baffling plot twists in the series. Only the most curious of souls should read this.

Ultra Despair Hagakure is just a generally really funny story about Yasuhiro in Towa City where he bumps into a lot of crazy people while trying to get money to pay his debts, it's silly and fun. Don't expect Shakespeare, it's just a fun time.

Danganronpa 1-2 Beautiful Days is a collection of non-canon stories similar to the anthology comics, overall it's just really neat but the story "Nanami the Adventurer" absolutely is a must read for perfectly explaining what makes Danganronpa 2's cast great.

Not technically a novel but Danganronpa Gaiden is a fun thriller with cool characters and interesting world building, it has some issues but it's definitely worth checking out.

Also not technically a novel but Kirigiriso is a really weird but interesting crossover story with Danganronpa and Otogiriso about kyoko discovering a plant infested mansion. If you enjoyed Danganronpa Kirigiri or Kyoko as a character in general, you might get some enjoyment out of this

you’d been injured on your last mission, bringing you to this sweet breezy paradise of one of the butterfly estate beds, your lover nursing you with a worried glare in his eyes.

“stay still.” yuichiro dabbed some antibacterial medicine on your knee through the involuntary jerks from you due to the sharp small pain every time he rubbed it against your scraped skin.

“sorry, it’s just— ow.” you winced, yuichiro’s other hand that was holding your leg down tracing small shapes to try to distract you a bit.

“it’s okay, i’m almost done.” he said as he quickly grabbed the bandages next to him and wrapped up the spot, kissing it when he was finished.

“thank you, yuichiro.” you smiled, willing your arm to ruffle his hair a bit, your muscles screaming from the strain of defeating that uppermoon.

you could see his face visibly turn a small pink before he packed up his materials and put them away in separate cabinets. “it’s what i’m supposed to do. now, take a rest.”

“but—”

“shinobu’s fine, she doesn’t need more help. in fact, if you want to help her, you should give yourself a break.” yuichiro cuts you off.

you rolled your eyes. “okay, fine. then, are you leaving now?”

“do you want me to?”

“no.”

“then i’m staying.” he confirms before sitting down on the side of the bed. you scoot your body to make room for him to lie down next to you, which he slowly does as to not hurt you. “are you okay?”

you nod before wrapping your arms around him, catching his breath in his throat as he sighs in relief, happy that you’ve lived another day and that you’re in his arms.

he softly kisses you on the lips. “i missed you. i’m so glad you’re safe.”

you laugh lightly, careful not to overdo it as you bury your head in his chest as he tugs you closer.

“shinobu’s going to talk to you again about resting with her patients,” you whisper playfully.

“we’re dating now, should be no problem,” he smiles at the memory, “also, it’s part of your recovery. she can’t say anything against that.”

“well—”

“she can’t. end of story.” he shuts you up with a kiss to your head, giving him another light laugh.

after a few quiet seconds, he murmurs, “i love you, and i’m glad we can spend this time together.”

“i love you too, yui. same here.” and then you both drift off to sleep.

“oh my!” shinobu smiles at the sight, muichiro by her side equal in expression, although his was a bit more less in size.

“we should leave them be.” he nods, backing away from the sight as his smile stays, truly happy that even in two separate lines of work with one that could one day take your life, small comforts like these were available to the both of you.

shinobu shut the door with utmost silence as she and muichiro made their way someplace else to give you two some more alone time.

Class had ended, the trio were preparing to leave when... 'KAMADO TANJIRO!!'

They went to the nearest cafeteria, once Aoi left the meals and left, Genya told him about his problem.

Sanemi, his older brother and a mathematics teacher, had threatened to confiscate his free festival tickets if Genya's rank was not the best. 'Oh... I understand... Mmmmm, maybe we could find someone to help you study! Something like a private teacher!'

'Hey, why don't we ask Aoi for help?! AOI!!!', Inosuke hadn't even received a response and was already taking action.

But Genya refused, covering his red face as he repeated 'Not girls! Girls noooo!!', fortunately when Aoi arrived, Inosuke asked her for the second dish. 'Hmmm, I was planning to ask Kanao or Shinobu-San for help... But I respect your decision of no women!'

Tanjiro snapped his fingers, he had the perfect candidate!

'TOKITO-KUN!!', Tanjiro knocked on the door of the residence. From it came one of the Tokito brothers, precisely Muichiro, who welcomed them.

After hearing the story, he agreed on the condition that Genya call him 'Tokito-San', and he reluctantly agreed.

'Wow...Tanjiro was right, you're terrible at this. I think I should have agreed to let Kotetsu use his robot on you instead of letting him go out with that boy in yellow and that girl face...', Tanjiro gasped and Genya resisted the urge to yell and curse him.

'T-Tokito-Kun! That was very rude and impolite!'

'Telling the truth is not being rude and ill-mannered... I gave him easy exercises and he still took too long to answer the questions...'

Genya growled, it was the only thing missing, first Sanemi and, now, a child were complaining to him about his grades. But Tanjiro wasn't going to sit idly by, it wasn't the right way to help his friend.

'Tokito-Kun... I feel obliged to do it... Excuse me' 'What-? T-TANJIRO NO!!', Muichiro grabbed Tanjiro by the wrists and tried to push him away, but he wasn't so successful.

Genya was also an older brother and knew what Tanjiro was trying to do, so he approached him and held him by the arms, pinning him in a hug.

'Well, this can be resolved in two ways... If you say a few words of support to Genya, I'll let you go free. Otherwise, you'll know what will happen...'

'WHAT?! BUT HE'S TERRIBLE AT MATH, I HAVE TO BE HONEST!!', Tanjiro sighed and knelt down.

Muichiro thought it was ridiculous, it wasn't the first time he was tickled, Yui always did it, but now?! Although... He wasn't Yui...

'T-Tanjiro... Thihihis is... RiHIdiculohohous...!! Mhmhmhmhm!! G-Gehehenyahaha!! L-lehehet me gohohoho!!'

'No. Tanjiro is right, be a better teacher and tell me some words of support or I won't let you go~'

'Buhuhut yohohou suhuhuck in mahahath!!' 'Then deal with this'

Genya simply laughed and started running one of his fingers down his neck, trying not to laugh when Muichiro shrugged from laughing. As if it were worse for Muichiro, Tanjiro dared to tell Genya to give him a raspberry on his neck while he continued to squeeze his sides.

'W-wahahaihit!! I wihihill dohoho ihihihit!! EAHAHAHAHA!! NOHOHOT THAHAHAT!! O-okahahahay!! No no no no no!! COHOHOMEHEHE OHOHON!!'

'Come on, you think you could fool us with that "I'll do it" bullshit?! Please! We have siblings and they ALWAYS do the same thing when they realize the tickling won't stop, right Tanjiro?!', Tanjiro nodded.

'LEHEHET ME GOHOHO!! THEHEHE LEHESSOHOHON-!!' 'The lesson will continue after you say something nice to me, say it and we'll stop~'

Muichiro was stubborn and flatly refused, he was being honest, right?

Muichiro put his head back, he thought of something that is short but convincing enough for both of them. 'GEHENYAHAHA!! YOHOHOU AHAHARE AHAHAHAHAHA GREHEHEHAHAT MHMHMHMHM STUDEHEHEHENT!!'

'Sorry, what did you say? I can't understand you if you laugh so much~!', Tanjiro laughed and stopped Genya.

And he did it just in time, Yuichiro came in looking for his brother and found him in a ball. When he asked them, their response was 'he was surprised by Genya's math skills', Yuichiro didn't believe it until his brother gave a thumbs up in approval.

'You are better?'

'Y-yehehes...'

'Well, we have to continue with the lesson and I hope that this time you treat me with more respect unless I want that "break" again~'
