Apostolic Youth Ministry
I never really think about who may read whatever you want to call what I write, until I meet them in person and they tell me. If you are in Youth Ministry today I want to speak directly to you.
Sarah and I drove from Alabama to Virginia this last weekend to attend the funeral of a man who had been a young person while we were leading youth ministry. Being there and seeing the teenagers-now grown people with families-whom we spent nearly every Friday night of our 20s with brought back a flood of memories. I love those people. And I still recognize a familiar connection that is not easilyâŚ

Love Letters from the Skies to the West Coast Chapter 7 - Sixteen & Wild
Pairing: Armin Arlert/Annie Leonhart

Summary: They say the most judgmental people are those who attend church on Sundays. Despite growing up in a Christian household, Armin Arlert felt overburdened by the pile of ministry activities assigned to him. So he made a pact with himself to never follow in his father's footsteps and become a pastor. With the goal of saving enough money to persuade his parents to let him move to another state after high school, he started accepting paid essay projects in school in secret. Everything in Armin's busy life seemed manageable until he met Annie Leonhart, a Californian girl whose parents had moved her against her will to Vermont. Upon discovering Armin's secret business, Annie approached him with a unique request- to write love letters for a long-distance lover. To craft the perfect love letters, she would help Armin embark on a journey of firstsâ his first kiss, first hug, first date, and first everything in a relationship.
A week had passed since the camp. Usually, after big events like this, the youths would have a week of rest from their ministry duties in the church. As a result, Armin had ample time to finish all the essays in his backlog, draft half of Annieâs letter, clean his room, bathe the kitten, complete his assignments for the weekend, summarize the topics he would discuss in the Bible studies, and submit them to the church leader. For him, nothing was more satisfying than seeing all these tasks finished on a Friday night.
Having a Saturday without much to do was something new for him. His parents werenât blasting worship songs on the stereo at seven in the morning or barging in to force him to come down and eat breakfast with them. He took this chance to finish his devotion for the day.
Besides his usual routine being disrupted, waking up without seeing Annie next to him made him feel like he was missing something. Lately, more clients had been coming into the clinic, so Hange asked Annie to work a half-day shift today. Armin considered dropping by later to see herâbut then what? Bring her food? Ask her to go to the mall with him? Hang out in the treehouse? Was it considered asking her for a friendly date?
Maybe not today.
She was probably tired after working the whole week following the exhausting days at the camp.
Armin shook his head, forced himself out of bed, and locked his window before taking a fresh towel from the cabinet. He switched on the heater before stepping into the bathroom.
Examining his hair, he found it annoyingly frizzy but decided it might not need a wash today since he had no plans to go out. He sprayed dry shampoo on his hair, massaging his scalp until he was satisfied before brushing the strands with his powdery fingers. He took one black elastic band to tie his hair up, noticing it had grown a bit longer now that the tie could hold it more tightly, though some shorter strands still escaped and fell to his ears and cheeks. He glanced at the mirror to examine his appearance. His long hair, soft features, and petite frame made him look fragile. He didn't need to wonder why Annie liked him.

NA: Extraordinary Forgetfulness
When I was young I was extraordinarily forgetful. It was just how I was. Later I learn that this is related to some sort of ADHD or Autism. BUT. That's not the whole story.
I'm a Video Game enthusiast. One day I was requested to bring in a SNES-Mini to work for a holiday party. Normally I would be all over this. A chance to play games at work.
And I completely forgot... This isn't something I had done since before I enlisted... I've experienced mental fatigue and fog before, but this kind of forgetfulness isn't something I experienced in... Forever. When did it start back up?
My youth had a slurry of negative influences, and in all my self-examination I couldn't nail down any single thing. And my family and whomever else had an influence couldn't solve it.
I was expected to figure out how to solve a lot of problems most kids shouldn't've. My family members can tell you just how routinely forgetful I used to be. And to an extent, I still am.
But during depressive episodes it's so much worse.
Some a* said: "You forget youre a men all the time." Butch, I'm more manly than you and I rejected my manliness...
So what is *this* depression? Vitamin-D deficiency? I don't think that's the whole story. It's a part of it. Going from a mainly outdoor job to an indoor job is. But I was also really depressed when I was younger, and outdoors more.
Somebody said it's puberty. Puberty makes you depressed especially when it initially boots up.
That doesn't explain the entire first 24 years of my life. As many as 4 years of my life, maybe. But the other twenty? That's a drop in the bucket.
Let me clarify: Depression isn't being unhappy. It's not being sad. It's the inability to feel most emotions. This includes a commonly noted observation of people unable to feel the *reward cycle* from a completed job.
Depression looks closer to that *robot persona* stereotypically linked to autistic people. I'm not saying that depression and autism have a causal link. I'm noting an observation.
Because you can't feel and process any emotions, that leaves you in a perpetual fugue state. Not one where you lost your identity, but one where you can't build one.
If I was to suggest a link between the Trans and Detrans experience, it would be this perpetual depressive state that doesn't clear up ever. And being told that it's just typical. "Life is perpetual suffering, if you're not depressed, you're doing it wrong."
Simultaneously, that's why people will cling to which ever depiction that shows people *happy*. Something I've seen from teens cling Youth-Ministries, Drugs, or any other *promise* that the pain *can* end.
It's not the promise of being perpetually happy, it's the promise of being able to experience [not suffering] for a moment. And there's a difference.
That doesn't afford a one-size fits all solution. This could be abuse, oppression, or just life experiences (death). This could be internal, such as clinical depression and being trans, or having a hormonal or dietary imbalance. Even a lack of sleep that relates to your circadian rhythm.
So the question really is; When did *that* depression clear up for me the first time? That would be from the stability and security offered to me by the military, as well as the ability to pursue self-substantiation.
To be clear; it didn't go away--it only eased everything else that prevented me from being able to address it. I still had social anxiety and an inability to confirm without intentionally suppressing emotions to do so.
And those emotions didn't stay at that level, they increasingly got worse and worse as I dealt with them the only way I knew how. Especially as my level of responsibility rose.

Voices from Gaza - Episode 5 - With Hamas Under Attack, Can It Govern Gaza?
Based on what we can see, Hamas is not above ground here. We don't see anyone -- not even the police. The economics ministry used to impose order on the shops. The shops are still here, but there's no inspection. Any conflict among civilians, there's no government.
Everyone piles into the bread stores, schools, and clinics, with no officials or protectors. As youth activist, we've formed youth organizations to provide some help to civilians in the schools, to the displaced and the wounded.
We provide aid by way of our friends in the U.S., Africa, and European countries. We're forming youth councils and defense committees to organize people in the bread lines, or other stations.
Right now, though, most of our organizational work is confined to UNRWA institutions, (U.N. refugee agency) all of them located in schools due to the danger we face in the streets. Because of the intensive bombing, we can't walk the streets to organize people's affairs.

If you had to choose a sin that represents Secundo and/or Copia best, which would you choose and why?
for secundo it's definitely lust. maybe not for the reasons you might think. of course, secundo is a hedonist by nature. i think he is probably more-so than the others, though terzo is a rival in that. of course his main coping mechanism is sex, & he doesn't consider it an addiction but clinically it may be considered as such. it's his largest vice for a reason. learned behavior, from nihil. though, the mistake here is to just think of lust as sexual desire. it's about longing for things. lusting for power, money, or -- truly anything. the actual definition is more along the lines of: a psychological force producing intense desire for something, or circumstance while already having a significant amount of the desired object. he's very into his art, his alcohol - he's a collector of fine things. he also longs to be taller, to be better looking... for youth, i suppose. though this theme is central in my headcanons for him. whether it was longing for a relationship with his father, for more attention, for his powers to go away --- for him to be able to utilize them, more effectively. longing to know his mother, longing to be loved. a lot of the things he kept inside for the good of his brother, or for lack of ability to communicate or work through the emotions effectively.
copia gets good old envy. pain at the sight of another's good fortune, stirred by "those who have what we ought to have". sounds about right. a little on the nose. there's evidence that some who envy, begin to emulate those they do envy. one may draw comparison between copia's stage persona - his speeches - to terzo. not to mention, even while cardinal he one upped terzo (& the previous papas) 10x over. he kept adding musicians, upgraded the stage, added costume changes & did make an immediate change to the ghoul's outfits/masks. (before the eventual HUGE changes). he wanted to have everything the old papas had, & more. i personally believe copia has always imagined himself being papa, from the moment he found out who his father was. i think he also very much envied his 'brothers' for having their father in their lives (though he never understood what that really meant, or that nihil wasn't really around). he didn't know much outside the ministry, but any child who spoke of a 'mother'. any child like terzo who were treated special by the sisters, & by the other children. & knowing he was different from them was never easy either, so he always wanted to be like the other kids. there's also other little thematics. i personally headcanon that copia wounded his own eye to look like his brothers & his father, so that also slips into the emulation category. in copia's main verse i play with the first type of envy - the benign envy. & in his darker timeline i created, i played with his malicious envy. so i think in his main verse, the envy motivated him to be a better person and to succeed. it's why he was so highly decorated as a cardinal, & why he was ultimately the next in line for what should have been his birthright. he worked for it. (with help from mommy, of course). in his alternate universe, he wanted to bring down the other papas including nihil, even at his own cost. he conspired with his mother & put in heavy groundwork, to get where he is.

Medical Students Wishing to Study in GeorgiaMedical Students Wishing to Study in Georgia Should Have Adequate knowledge About Medical Practice Rules in Georgia.
Medical students wishing to study in Georgia must have a comprehensive understanding of the country's medical practice rules and regulations. Studying medicine abroad involves more than just academic learning; it requires familiarity with the legal and ethical framework of the country where the student intends to practice or complete their education.
Innocent students and parents often realize this deception only after they reach a foreign country and face difficulty in practicing as an independent doctor.
In Georgia, any student who has completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a one-year internship is allowed to work as a junior doctor assisting a senior doctor. Most of them do not fulfil the criteria required for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) and struggle to obtain a medical licence to practice in India.
MBBS Study in Georgia: Understanding Georgian Law
According to Georgian law, medical graduates have the right to work as a junior doctor, a position that can be held by an MBBS graduate from a state-recognized higher medical institution who performs duties according to the instructions (Article 5 â Georgiaâs Law on Medical Practice). To pursue a postgraduate residency course and obtain the right to independent medical practice, one must pass the Unified State Certification Exam (Article 17, Georgiaâs Law on Medical Practice).
To practice medicine, students must pass the National Medical Council examination to obtain a license. Medical ethics, patient rights, and legal responsibilities are also key components of the legal framework that students must understand to comply with Georgian healthcare standards.
Santosh Biradar, a practicing lawyer from Hyderabad, is trying to create awareness about foreign medical education. âMedical colleges in Georgia provide license for âindependent practiceâ only after a total of 9 years of education in the country. Agents claim that after completing a 5-year MBBS course (known as MD in Georgia) and an additional year of internship, the student will get a license to practice. âTo obtain the right to independent medical practice, students will have to spend 9 years in Georgia within the 10 years as per the timeline set by the NMC for completing a medical degree abroad and pass the FMGE in India,â says Biradar.
MBBS Study in Georgia: Clinical Duties Under Guidance
On August 9, 2024, the Georgian Embassy in India informed Indian students about the recent changes implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia regarding the medical education framework. The communication indicated, âAccording to Article 14 of the Law of Georgia on Medical Practice, graduates of the MD program (equivalent to MBBS in India), called junior doctors, are allowed to perform the responsibilities of a physician.
In the absence of a certified physician, a junior doctor is authorized to independently provide emergency medical assistance.â The communication further stated, âAll the above-mentioned points clearly demonstrate that the medical education system in Georgia follows the updated regulations of the NMC.â
MBBS Study in Georgia: Strict NMC Rules
The Indian Embassy in Armenia (which also has Georgia under its jurisdiction) has issued advisories and RTI responses about Georgiaâs medical education system. After completing undergraduate medical education, students are required to pass the NPDQE exam to continue postgraduate studies and residency, following which the right to âindependent medical practiceâ is granted by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.
The response shared by the Indian Embassy in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia states, âTo obtain a license to practice medicine in Armenia and Georgia, it is mandatory to have postgraduate in a particular field. The duration of postgraduate varies as per the specialization course which can range from one to four years.â
Georgiaâs medical graduates cannot be compared to Indian MBBS doctors who are eligible to work independently in OPDs. In a session of Parliament in 2023, former health minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that India will not accept any foreign-returned student who has not obtain a license from the nation in which they completed their degree.

good news for women - february 2024
The EU has reached a historic agreement to protect women from different forms of violence. The new legislation will include improved access to justice as well as protection and prevention services across the EU. Member states will have to establish helplines and rape crisis centres to support victims, and ensure an easier reporting of crimes of violence against women and domestic violence â including an option to report online. The law will also criminalise online violence, such as cyberstalking, cyber harassment and cyber incitement to hatred or violence. Once adopted, the new law will set common rules on the definition of these offences and related penalties. However, protections against rape lag behind as member states are divided on its legal definition.
Cambodia has spent $1.4 billion in assisting the poor and vulnerable people in the country since 2019, Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation Chea Somethy said on February 5, 2024. Speaking at the ministryâs annual conference, Somethy said to date, the government has offered a total of $1.4 billion in cash assistance to more than 1.43 million families and 360,000 pregnant women. The UN agency said the poverty rate in Cambodia had declined to 16.6 percent in 2022 from 36.7 percent in 2014, and that the number of poor people was halved from 5.6 million to 2.8 million.
On November 13, President Biden announced the first-ever White House Initiative on Womenâs Health Research, an effort led by First Lady Jill Biden and the White House Gender Policy Council. The $100 million will be used to invest early in âlife-changingâ work being done by womenâs health researchers and startup companies that cannot get private support, Biden said.
âWe will build a health care system that puts women and their lived experiences at its center,â she said. âWhere no woman or girl has to hear that âitâs all in your head,â or, âitâs just stress.ââ Where women arenât just an after-thought, but a first-thought. Where women donât just survive with chronic conditions, but lead long and healthy lives.â In addition, the Initiative welcomes written comments and input, which can be directed to [email protected] (PDF or Word attachments only).
The World Health Organisation estimates that endometriosis affects around one in ten women during their lifetimeâroughly the same as the proportion of the global population with diabetes. But whereas doctors understand why diabetes occurs and how to treat it, their understanding of endometriosis is languishing â30 to 40 yearsâ behind. But things are starting to change. A clinical trial of the first non-hormonal, non-surgical treatment for endometriosis, started in 2023 in Scotland, is showing promising results. Dr Horne says that the trial, which he co-leads, grew out of closer examinations of how endometriosis lesions form. There is also a new tool being tested which would make diagnosis of endometriosis fast and easy.

The ETBU Baseball team departed Texas for the Dominican Republic on Sunday morning as a part of ETBUâs Tiger Athletic Mission Experience (TAME). This is the 17th trip as a part of the ETBU Athletic Department TAME initiative and second for Tiger Baseball, after the Tigers traveled to the Dominican Republic Rica in 2017. ETBU is partnering with Dominican Baseball Camp, as they will conduct free youth baseball clinics, conduct service in the local communities, various ministry activities, and play five games.
Graduate student Brett Wagner stated, âAs we started the day off early this morning in the airport, we knew it was going to be a long day but a day that was worth it. As soon as we arrived in the DR we were greeted with a staff that acted like they already knew us and took us in with open arms as if we were family.
As soon as we arrived at the resort, we set out all of the clothing, shoes, bats, and backpacks that we were donating and then got settled into our rooms. Before dinner the team set out on a little expedition to the beach and this is where we were greeted by the community and got to see a whole different perspective and culture of the country. Locals would stop and engage with the team, asking us to buy their items or just to crack some jokes before dinner.
Once we ate dinner, it was time to visit a local church service. With heavy eyes and open hearts, the one thing stuck out to us the most was the pure happiness and joyfulness that these people had and it was an energy that fed into us. The Lord was moving in different ways than we were used to seeing, but no matter their surroundings, no matter who was around them, one thing never seemed to change, and that was the happiness they expressed.
We are looking forward to the upcoming days here in the DR and looking to make memories that will not only impact ourselves as a team but as well as those in the local community for Christ.â

SDA opens S.Y. '22-'23, resumes in-person classes after two years
by Mel Christian Verona and Vinh Marco Tumang
Dominicansâ grand comeback is real!
After two years of distance learning, St. Dominic Academy of Pulilan, Inc. started School Year (SY) 2022-2023, Tuesday, August 16, which marked the SDAâs participation in limited to progressive in-person classes.
Themed âTransforming Dominicans for a Synodal Community: Journeying Together for a Christ-Centered Education,â the new school year is also known as Safe Delivery of Accessible, and Enhanced Learning Environment for Authentic, Transformative Education or the #SDAELEVATE.
Sr. Annaliza F. Hipolito O.P., the schoolâs new director/principal personally welcomed the students. She expressed her gratitude to the students and to their parents for choosing St. Dominic Academy of Pulilan Inc. In her welcoming speech, she also emphasized Faith, Hope, and Love as three of the most important things and reminded the students to always do their best as some things in life can only happen once.
Furthermore, to welcome students for this new academic year, programs and activities filled the first week of classes.
Supreme Student Council (SSC) officers prepared an opening salvo for the Dominicans which included song and dance numbers, spoken word poetry performances, and a music video.
Also, Campus Youth Ministryâs (CYM) Music Ministry serenaded the students with live band performances while the Dance Alliance Club members grooved to the beat with their TikTok dance performance.
Meanwhile, select Grade 12 students Carmella Dizon, Charles Bryan de Torres, Sean Paul Llave, and Therese Angelie Balagtas featured their daily routines for both face-to-face and online classes in their âDaily Life of a Dominicanâ vlogs.
Alongside the opening program, SSC officers held a âCampus Tourâ for Grades 7, 8, and 9 students, with the transferees to familiarize them with the school and its facilities.
First week of classes centered on a three-day students' orientation with the first two days done in-person with their respective advisers.
A virtual orientation on the third day was held where the services of the Registrar, Library, Clinic, Prefect of Student Behavior Formation, and Campus Ministry Offices were explained. Finally, a training on the usage of Phoenix Aralinks CLE, SDAâs learning management system, for the Grade 7 students and the transferees also took place in the afternoon.
All said activities strictly adhered to minimum health and safety protocols such as handwashing, temperature checking, daily health monitoring, physical distancing, and disinfection among others to ensure the safe reopening of classes.
Week two of the school reopening is set to center on subject orientations and actual teacher instruction.

'Outdated': BC to amend laws, removing gendered & binary language
'Outdated': BC to amend laws, removing gendered & binary language British Columbia will be the first Canadian province to change provincial laws to remove outdated gendered and binary language, which will, according to officials, better reflect its diversity as well as improve access to programs and services. Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, Brenda Bailey, introduced the new legislation to âcorrect outdated languageâ by amending more than 2,300 instances of gendered and binary terms from 21 ministries across 210 provincial statutes. âWords have a powerful effect, whether written or spoken, and all British Columbians deserve to see themselves reflected in BCâs programs and services,â said Bailey. âWe know that outdated language across government can exclude thousands of people. Thatâs why weâre taking action to replace these words with diversity, equity and inclusion at the top of our minds.â The Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act, 2023, will â when approved â group together gendered and binary language changes âas a streamlined wayâ for government to correct and repeal the language. Terms such as âhe/sheâ or âsister/brotherâ have been axed in exchange for âgender-neutral alternatives,â as have terms such as âchairmenâ and âworkmen.â âTrans and non-binary people, particularly youth, can be erased by laws that use only he and she,â said Adrienne Smith, litigation director at the Catherine White Holman Wellness Society trans legal clinic. âThis change signals to those people that they are important, and that they are included and protected by the law.â The province already amended more than 1,400 instances of âoutdated gendered and binary languageâ from provincial regulations. The move was announced on International Womenâs Day, and despite officials reiterating it helps âall British Columbians see themselves in legislation,â many biological women express they feel â to use the provinceâs word â âerased.â Premier David Eby and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were respectively applauded and condemned on International Womenâs Day for stating that âtrans women are women.â "And with a disturbing rise in anti-transgender hate here in Canada and around the world recently, I want to be very clear about one more thing: trans women are women. We will always stand up to this hate â whenever and wherever it occurs," said Trudeau. In lockstep with the prime minister, Eby said, "Rather than amplify the hateful voices targeting trans people in the replies to previous posts, let me just say, on International Women's Day, and every other day of the year, trans women are women." Spirit Of Warrior Unleashes Exciting Mixed Martial Arts Fighters In Lagos
10 entertaining international fights are expected to fire up the atmosphere at Muson Center in Lagos as the Battle of the Gladiators Mixed Martial Arts MMA showpiece takes centre stage.
The action packed championship organised by Akalaka Spirit of the Warrior promotion will come up on 28 January 2023 from 7PM. Gearing up to display some striking and grappling clinic in the co-main event are two lady warriors who are well versed in the MMA business.National Sports Festival 2022 gold medalist in judo Terlumun Doose of Nigeria faces Togolese striking sensation Cynthia Jibidar in an all ladiesâ bantamweight affair that promises intense heat, doggedness and elegance. The main event in the menâs lightweight category throws up some Nigeria/Ghana jollof rivalry as Nigeriaâs Black Panther Onem Richard squares up to his Ghanaian foe Richard âBoykaâ Asiedu. The Ghanaian champion would be angling to right the wrongs of last yearâs March when he suffered a disqualification defeat to Cornell Thompson of Nigeria at the Akalaka 1 Streetfight contest in Ahoada, Rivers State. The promoter Dr Ebere Bernard, a Nigerian Army veteran and combat sports specialist, believes in focussing on grassroots development of youths in the sports where discovered local talents can be nurtured to systematically graduate into professional MMA fighters. âThe promotion is focused on grassroots youth development which constitutes about 70% Nigeria population, with a target of grooming 200 MMA prospects every year across the country for the next five years.â
Dr Bernard the Director of Youth Development in the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation, NMMAF, the latest federation to be granted full recognition by the Nigeria Sports Ministry, also added that the January 28 fight night at Muson Center was in line with the promotionâs values of using combat sports to tell the African story of pre-colonial and post-colonial struggles.Such struggle is also epitomised by 2015 African Games gold medallist in Greco Roman wrestling Nigeriaâs Emmanuel âThe Working Machine â Nworie who braved various adversities while growing up as a kid before attaining professional status in MMA.The Working Machine will slug it out in the welterweight class with Daniel Appah âThe Road Mapâ in the Battle of the Gladiators while Ebenezer âIron Fistâ Vincent and Geoffrey John The Skullcobra have got some old scores to settle in a lightweight battle.Vincent took down Geoffrey in the semi final of last monthâs Spirit of the Warrior Akalaka 2 Streetfight which he eventually won at the Lagos National Stadium, however, Skullcobra disagreed with the judgesâ decision on the day and promised to make it easier for the arbiters on January 28.Completing the main card is a potentially all action featherweight bout between Uchejim Onyeka of the Nigerian Army and Ghanaâs Edmond Akhator. The Ghanaian could be on a revenge mission to Nigeria after losing to a reverse spinning elbow by Jackiel Ayana last year in Rivers State where Akalaka 1 Streetfight thrilled fight fans in Ahoada.https://www.completesports.com/spirit-of-warrior-unleashes-exciting-mixed-martial-arts-fighters-in-lagos/
