Don't Look Away
"I am 85 years old.
I have experienced the American Dream because I was born a white, American male; I was privileged.
Women did not have that privilege, African-Americans did not have that privilege, people of color did not have that privilege,
Native Americans did not have that privilege, non heterosexuals did not have that privilege--it was reserved for white, American males who presented as heterosexual.
In the 1960's and 1970's a sense of optimism filled the air in America, a genuine feeling that the American Dream could be made available to all people regardless of sex, color, creed, race, national origin or sexual orientation.
It was a tumultuous time, the civil rights movement, assassinations, the Watergate scandal, the Vietnam War protest movement; nevertheless, there truly was the feeling of a promise of a better tomorrow.
Because we were so optimistic, we let down our guard; we took our freedoms for granted, a big mistake; freedom is a fragile gift that must be closely guarded.
I can't pinpoint the exact time when the change began, I think it was when Ronald Reagan was elected President in 1980.
A popular actor, a gentle-speaking likeable man, a convert to "conservative" values, a perfect puppet for the elitists, white supremacists and authoritarians who have been ever-present in our society since its very beginnings.
"Trickle-down" economics seeped in, anti-trust regulations were relaxed, “Free Markets” was the slogan of the day, human beings were reduced to chits on a profit board, consumerism took hold as the gap between the richest and the poorest widened into an insurmountable divide during the ensuing decades.
Money became the weapon of the rich and powerful white supremacists and Fascists who now seek to overthrow our tattered republic. Donald Trump is their latest puppet.
We are in a very dark place--BUT WE ARE STILL A LIVING, BREATHING REPUBLIC.
On November 5th, American citizens will be voting to decide whether our nation will remain a living, breathing Republic or will go the way of Russia, China, India, Hungary and all the other regimes that oppress their people under the heel of totalitarianism.
THE CHOICE IS OURS; EVERY VOTE IS CRITICAL; THE SUM TOTAL OF OUR VOTES WILL ECHO THE VOICE OF FREEDOM.
Donald Trump has a fixed base of mindless supporters that will not grow significantly.
If freedom-loving voters go to the polls, we can have a decisive victory and we can then begin the long and challenging task of restoring the promise of a better tomorrow, not just for American citizens, but FOR ALL HUMAN BEINGS.
I am an old man; I will not live to see my AMERICAN-DREAM-FOR-ALL come true.
I have devoted my life to. this cause.
Please allow me to celebrate the beginning of a better tomorrow for America and the world.
IT CAN HAPPEN ON NOVEMBER 5TH!
Be well... ~Alan "DontLookAway" Dornan~ "

Your art is amazing! I would suggest you use more tags on your posts for wider spread. Like for the Beelzebub post , you could use obey me , obey me beel , obey me Beelzebub , obey me fanart , obey me swd , etc.
So I'm always concerned about using too many tags that would eventually just dilute my audience, but if the people say more tags I'll use more tags
Looking back at it part of my problem is that I don't know a lot about the stuff that people ask me for. Like, 90% of the stuff people want is stuff I've never heard of before

That's a big win for the OP and a big loss for the company who kept a "boss" who didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. I worked for some IBM 1st level management, back in the 1980's. They were clueless and just as arrogant and indignant as the OP mentioned here. I also embarrassed a Senior MFG Engineer that tried to overrule a suggestion of mine (while secretly trying to steal my idea without my knowledge). I was a mfg Technician in IBM's Circuit Packaging & Manufacturing from 1980-1983. Then I got promoted to Senior Methods Specialist in 1984, and again embarrassed a 3rd Level manager (my boss's boss's Boss, with a 6 year degree in Electrical Engineering 😆🤣) because he didn't know how to setup his Office IBM OS2 tower computer to connect to the internal network (intranet)! By the OP's example here, I see nothing has changed in 40 years! 🤦🏽‍♂️😒 😑

if a character means enough to me i will truly never stop thinking about them. i just retire them into a little back room in my brain and periodically bring them out to stare at them under a little light

Imperialism & Colonialism have dominated, suppressed and destroyed much of the ancient world's knowledge and wisdom that significantly includes the origins of the human species, sans organized religion & religious practices. The Roman Catholic church is/was a prime violator of indigenous customs and shamanic practices, for many centuries.... AND, the Roman brand of "Christianity" was edited, censored, "cherry picked" and corrupted to fit with the Emperor's dictation and policies, starting with Constantine, from 306 AD (CE) to 337 AD (CE). The Roman Empire's version of Christianity is false and has no real representation of the the real Jesus...who was NOT a Christian! Jesus actually has a far different history that in part, includes his trek to the Far East via the established "Silk trade route" from Europe to Kashmir India and beyond between his age of 13 until he was about 30 yrs old and when he returned to Jerusalem. Of course, the Christian churches deny this story and dismiss it out of hand because it contradicts their bullshit stories that were canonized in the mid to late 4th century AD (CE) during the Nicene Councils (325-329 AD (CE) and other Roman empire forced policies (386 AD (CE)).
Epistemicide can be broadly defined as the destruction of knowledge systems and the knowledge that they generate. The Latin American sociologist Ramón Grosfoguel explains how epistemicide played a crucial role in Europe's colonization of the rest of the world, including the settler colonization of the Americas. It granted European philosophy an “epistemic privilege,” allowing it to become the “new foundation of knowledge in the modern/colonial world.”
In other words, it created a world in which only knowledge produced by European colonists and settlers was deemed legitimate, while colonized societies were compelled to construct new systems from scratch — often mirroring those of their colonizers — because their own systems had been destroyed. As a result, the structural conditions of knowledge production that facilitated the mechanisms of their colonialization also imposed constraints on their liberation.

I don't belong to the "dinosaur" club by attitude and race, but I *am* 74 years old and a Boomer; which some gens classify me as a conservative who's to blame for all this... However, I've never been a conservative or a capitalist or a "crew cut" haircut, white suit & tie wearing asshole who's pro-war and pro-USA 24/7/365. I grew up in the 60's and discovered that judging other people by their skin color, lack of religion, nationality, lack of "higher" education than High School, and different gender than I was, was Not a way to live my life. It took a while to drain out all the racist, sexist, nationalist, war mongering, capitalist attitude that I was exposed to and assimilated internally when I was an adolescent in the 1950's and early 1960's. By the time I was 19 years old (1968) I was beginning to grasp how really phucked up this American social construct really was...and still is.

Love when writers do an insane amount of unnecessary research for their fics. I follow an author that did like 8 months of intense research into 14th century Scotland so they could write smut about it, and guess what. It was some fucking incredible porn AND I learned about old Scottish politics
