Some facts about Davrin (and also Grey Wardens and griffons) gathered from the banters

I went through all companion banters on DanaDuchy's channel after playing the game to write down all facts about companions/the world that I haven't seen brought up anywhere in the game as a writing reference (and for funsies).

Note: This list may not be exhaustive. I might have missed some something or didn't write it down because I considered it common knowledge. If you have anything to add, please DM me or send an ask! (do specify what banter the information is coming from, though)

Note 2: Posts from this series (mostly) don't include information from banters specific to quests or between companions and faction members. I plan to do another playthrough to capture more of those and will add any relevant info to the character posts.

About Davrin

Family and past:

When he was a kid, Davrin broke his arm when his aravel sailed off a ridge 

Davrin stlll considers himself Dalish and thinks that will never change

Davrin hasn’t seen his clan since he left the forest. He misses the clan (‘it comes and goes’), Dalish food – especially halla milk and butter — and the sense of a common purpose. The last is why he joined the Wardens

Eldrin lives on his own, not together with Davrin’s clan

Just like Bellara, when Davrin was little, he wondered what it was like to his own house, shop at the market and make friends with outsiders

Davrin isn’t bothered by the idea of fighting the Elven gods because he never really believed in them, but he is worried about how the events of the Veilguard will impact the reputation of the elves

The first group of Wardens Davrin fought with had a special system for fighting ogres. One of them would be “Cheese” (bait), drawing the ogre's attention while the others shot it with arrows (so Davrin can either use a bow or was always the Cheese) 

Monster hunting: 

Davrin can't take most books about monsters seriously, as they are not up to his standards

Fighting monsters is all about the thrill of the chase and tracking a target down rather than the victory

Davrin prefers to fight flesh-and-blood monsters rather than demons

Davrin takes full payment upfront when he hunts monsters for coin

"Can he pass the "Orange peel" test?"

Characters : Isagi Yoichi, Itoshi Sae, Karasu Tabito, Bachira Meguru

Content : A scenario in which you ask them for an orange and ask them to peel it for you— seeing how willing they are to do acts of services.

Disclaimer : Some of you readers may be sensitive, so prepare yourself for things you might not expect like harshness in some characters

SET : I set the scenario where you and the (character) have dated for 2 years, but kaiser is not healed. Sae might come off as cold, rin might seem detached or some other traits that you might deem as a red flag. So read at your own accord, taking this warning into consideration. I won't add a description of what type of personality reader is for everyone to feel welcome.

Note : I am glad ya'll enjoyed the previous scenarios, now let us explore more. Take it into consideration that when you guys send me requests or asks, you can freely set the setting to however you'd like, if you'd like it if it is set into a time where kaiser is healed, or sae and rin have opened up, which might take ages if done slowly. Or when isagi haven't met you so he isn't in love with you, and so on and so forth with other characters. Now enjoy.

Isagi Yoichi - he would

I am sure it doesn't come off as much of a surprise if someone like Isagi would do this act of affection. For him, it might even be natural— his way of showcasing how much he cares for you. If this was set at a time where you just started dating, he would feel flustered and might even mess up a bit, but for Isagi, this act would be a symbolism of how he is willing to do anything to minimize your workload as well as please you.

Yoy two are spending some time on the couch, intitially planning to watch tv, and not let any interruptions occur. However, you had a different plan in mind. Isagi was invested in the movie and glances at you from time to time to check your reactions. Until you asked for an orange, which draws his eyes to you— away from the tv now. You repeated your request as it sinks into his mind. He chuckles lightly— an apology exiting his mouth, from how he didnt hear you the first time.

You asked for an orange and he wouldn't even question it, just thinking you might be tired as he makes his way to the kitchen. After grabbing an orange, he walks towards you then stretches his hand out to give it to you, you didn't reach out for it and instead asked him to peel it. Isagi might feel confused at first but would happily do it, seeing this as a sign of affection rather than a workload.

(Isagi's part is short, because he does it no hesitation and no complaints)

Itoshi Sae - he would begrudgingly do it

The fact that you were able to handle him for 2 years, much less get into a relationship means he can see you in his future, or you managed to really convince him that you won't get in the way of his plans and goals. Which is amazing in its own way— since it might've took you years to get him convinced. So you might already be aware that he won't give in to such pointless acts of affection. But you tried it anyway, since he isn't really always present, so why not make the most of it?

You two were just sitting on his couch. Yes— his couch. You never brought up the idea of living together since Sae seems to really like his space. And even if he secretly wanted to, you can't see him telling you about it or bringing up the idea. You are watching TV, eyes darting to whatever he is working on— eyes meeting some soccer data stuff on his laptop which is rested on his lap. You waited for a while, and there he goes. Sae places his laptop on the center table as his body relaxes, leaning more on the back of the couch— looking at whatever you were watching.

You called out his name, followed by your requests— an orange. You can see him squinting his eyes a little at your odd request, since normally you would get it yourself, but with a sigh, he stands up and heads to the kitchen. He grabs an orange and goes back to you sitting on the couch, looking at him with anticipating eyes— the upcoming second request reluctantly but successfully leaving your mouth. "Can you peel it for me?" You ask.

"Why can't you peel it yourself?" Sae questions you. Despite him intentionally trying to not sound mean, he genuinely wants to know why— his question coming from a place of pure confusion rather than a harsh reply. You might just sigh to yourself, feeling upset and grab the orange to peel it yourself till he raises his hand— keeping you from taking the orange away. And with a big sigh, he decides to sit down and peel it. But the situation is confusing for him; why couldn't you peel it yourself? He questions himself. In the end, he peels it but instead of it coming from a place of care, his decision to peel it comes from a place of "obligation". He felt the need to peel it, since he sees it as something he "needs" to do rather than "want" to do.

(It would be a surprise that he would peel his orange for you. If he never was your boyfriend, he wouldn't see the need to do it, nor the care)

Karasu Tabito - he would

For Karasu, doing something as peeling an orange might be a natural thing for him, he sees it both as something he needs and also wants to do. How he would do stuff for his partner is a sign of genuine care and affection, rather than pure obligation.

The room was quite dark. The curtains closed— the only source of light is emitted from the tv. Both you and Karasu are having a movie night, and the atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. You didn't want bother him with this, but you wanted to try it out on him; though you have a rough idea of how he might respond.

You asked for an orange, and he looks at you with his eyebrows raised, and no question— he stands up and goes to the kitchen to grab one for you. You looked at him with a smile, perhaps already knowing this is how he'd respond. And he sits back on the couch, handing it to you. He notices your silence, and has an idea on what would come next. And thus, he pulled back his outstretched hand, already peeling the orange before you could open your mouth and ask which surprised you. After he peeled it, he gave it to you as if it was the most normal thing to do, and at that moment you are reminded of why you chose to be with him— eating the orange with a small smile.

(I feel like if you really mattered to him so much, he would literally read your mind. He is smart after all, he can read body languages)

Bachira Meguru - he would be more than happy to

For Bachira, this act of peeling an orange for someone is a natural act of love. He would see it as a natural thing to do and he'd do it, no complaints. If he hands you the orange, he might even ask you if you want him to peel it, wanting to please you with acts of services.

You could be spending some time together in the living room, watching a movie. Bachira would feel more excited about spending time with you rather than the Movie. Might even let you pick the movie, and if you want him to watch something in particular, he would watch and comment on each scenes, would gladly let you talk too and explain to him about stuff regarding the movie. He would switch from looking at the movie, then to you, then the movie then to you, having fun with the feeling of watching something with another person, which is quite different to what he is usually used to.

Now if you asked him for an orange, he would no doubt say "okay!" And immediately do your request. He wouldn't see it as something to complain about, but rather it is something that he wants to do for you since to him, you are special. It wouldn't take long for the orange to arrive, and he gives it to you, and to your surprise, he would even ask to peel it for you.

It makes you smile how you don't need to voice out your needs since he already does the things you want him to do without needing you to voice it out.

( I see Bachira as one of those types that will feel the need to make themselves feel needed by their partner in some way, especially if he views his partner as someone he doesn't deserve, or a person that cures him of his loneliness)

Sacrifice

Yeah...I decided to do Whumpuary 2025 last minute. Here's my first fic. And if you have any requests for the other days, feel free to ask!

Summary: Batman’s life has been declared forfeit long ago, as he stood in the candlelight and swore an oath. But Robin? Robin is off limits.

Characters: Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson

Warnings: Kidnapping, attempted human sacrifice, fight scene with broken bones

If the choice came down to Batman’s life or the life of a single civilian, Bruce would sacrifice himself in an instant. It has to be that way. Because the moment he starts viewing his life as more important than those of the people he’s protecting, there can be no Batman.

So, Bruce is not a selfish man. He understands sacrifice on too deep of a level for most to even contemplate. Every day, he shrouds himself in shadows and goes out into what might be his grave, throwing himself into the flames, the bullets, the paths of madmen. He cares if he dies, because the death of Batman would put the whole city at risk. And yet, he will gladly die for the people he protects. His life has been declared forfeit long ago, as he stood in the candlelight and swore an oath.

But Robin? Robin is off limits.

Bruce races to the location of the peripheral temple his informant gave him, entering immediately through the roof. He’s been trying to track these cultists for weeks so that they could unwittingly lead him to their main temple, where they have the records of all their members and past—and future—victims. He had held off on compromising his informant, with the knowledge that the delay would save countless lives. But Batman will burn all those plans in an instant, because now the cultists have Robin.

Carefully, Bruce pries open the cover on the skylight—the one over the room that the informant said is where the cultists conduct the sacrifices. Bruce scans the room below. He registers the cultists, clothed in bright, lurid colors. The arched doorway. The brightly-colored snake statues throughout the room that could provide cover. But his vision focuses on the stone table at the center of the room, where the cultists have cuffed Dick, and the woman with her glimmering dagger raised above Dick’s chest.

Normally, Bruce would plan. But he can’t afford to do that. Any more than the second he has already taken, and the dagger held above Dick’s chest could fall. Bruce was almost too late. He will not fail Robin like this.

Batman descends from the rafters like a demon, cloak swirling behind him, and the cultists shriek in fear.

Strategically, Bruce should go for the cultists at the door, the ones armed with guns. But they are not the priority. Dick is.

The woman who was about to kill Robin falls to the ground, her ribs cracking under the force of Batman’s boot. The guards fire immediately, but Bruce whirls around so that his bulletproof cape covers the table where the cultists cuffed Dick. Bruce needs to leap into action, but he can’t abandon Dick. Even if Bruce tries to draw their fire, one of the cultists could slip past him and attempt to complete the ritual. Worse, a stray bullet could hit Dick. The probability is low, but the risk is too terrible to allow.

With a quick motion, Bruce detaches his cape, draping it over Dick’s trembling body. And then, with only his speed and the far worse protection of his suit, Bruce launches himself towards the cultists who tried to kill his ward.

Bruce moves purely on instinct. A kick to the wrist sends the gun flying out of one of the cultists’ hands. Crack. Someone’s arm breaks. It’s not Bruce’s. A bullet grazes Bruce’s arm, sending a flash of pain through him, but that doesn’t matter. Tackle. Duck. Disarm and disrupt.

One of the cultists makes a break towards the table where Robin is cuffed and Bruce throws a batarang, catching the man in the shoulder. Two more, and the man goes down, bleeding profusely from his leg.

Elbow to the face. A kick to the back of the knees. A punch to the neck. One of the cultists stumbles and Bruce catches his arm and snaps it like a twig. Batman, when provoked, is brutal.

When the fight is over, less than two minutes after it began, Bruce is standing above the unconscious or sobbing cultists, their ankles and wrists cuffed or ziptied. They’re alive, but they won’t be having a fun next few months. Good.

Bruce lifts his cape from where it’s draped over Dick like a blanket and gently removes the gag from the boy’s mouth. Dick doesn’t say a single word, let alone resume his near-constant stream of chatter. It’s wrong. Robin should never be silent.

Quickly, Bruce gets to work on removing the cuffs. While Batman clothes himself in blacks and greys and most of the evil cults that crop up in Gotham force their sacrifices to wear white, this one focuses on the brightest colors possible. So when a few of their members fought Robin, in his emerald green and ruby red and canary yellow, they thought he was made for them.

Well, they can’t have him.

When the final cuff is removed, Bruce expects Dick to spring to his feet—or, at least, sit up. But he doesn’t so much as move. Bruce has to help him up, stooping low to catch Dick as he half-falls half-slides off the stone table. This is nothing like Robin. This is wrong.

Dick leans against Bruce’s side. “They followed me,” he whispers, voice hoarse. He must—he must’ve been screaming, before they put the gag in. “They wanted Robin.”

Bruce wraps an arm around Dick’s shoulders and bows his head. He understands, now. Dick has been kidnapped a few times before, by people far more terrifying than poisonous snake cultists. But they always wanted Batman, and Robin was just a means to an end. These people went after Robin, and Robin alone. This time, Dick, in his traffic light colors, was a bullseye.

Bruce tries to blink away the image of Robin, cuffed to the stone table and trembling. But he can’t. He can’t. Because the cultists may have wanted Robin, but that was Bruce’s fault. He’s the one who let Dick put on that costume, with too many bright colors for Gotham’s dreary nights. He’s the one who trained Dick to fight by his side. He’s the one who taught Dick the oath and had him swear it by the candlelight, just like Bruce did.

And—

Bruce had had plans. Those plans are pointless, now that he’s revealed the existence of his informant with this attack. He’ll have to start from scratch, and it’ll take weeks more to find the cultists’ main temple. But when Bruce had found out where Dick was, he hadn’t even hesitated.

That oath made Bruce’s own life forfeit. But that can’t be the case for Dick. Because, unlike Bruce, Dick’s life is worth everything.

Batman will sacrifice anything for the mission. Anything, except for Robin.

Bruce tucks Dick’s head against his chest. “I’ve got you, Robin,” he says. “Let’s go home.”

I wanted to ask for an Idia x reader comfort type thing? For context, a game I love is currently doing a rerun banner for a costume I really really want. I saved for a year to try and get it because I failed last time and, low and behold, I didn’t get it now either

I do still have time before the banner’s over but it’s just kinda disheartening after I tried to save for so long and still didn’t get the costume (especially cause I’m f2p)

Idia Shroud

He's definitely been in your shoes, maybe even recently. He does spend on his favorite gachas every now and then, but with the amount of games he plays and the speed at which banners come out, he can't just sink all his money into gacha currency. Besides gacha, there's also new game releases and DLCs after all! And it feels better if you actually earn your win, too.

It goes without saying that he's going to be hyping you up before your pulls, whether through messages or live, and that you'll be exchanging screenshots with each other too, so he knew how much you were looking forward for this one banner. He's made it known he's your biggest supporter.

Even if it's not something he also plays, he feels the loss when you're all out of pulls, and the character you were hoping for never comes. He's not really the best at comfort in general, that applies both over text and in person, but you know he understands the feeling.

He reaches for you a little awkwardly, depending on what it looks like you want to do about it. What would it be better to offer? Encouragement for reruns, or ingame currency for a few more pulls? He wonders nervously while he tries to pick whatever looks better for your case. If he happens to have the character that you wanted he'll actually apologize and definitely offer a few extra pulls.

Honestly, he finds that it feels even more sad than the times he fumbled his pulls. He'll scour the internet for any talk of reruns and send it to you within the hour, and if he finds none, he's always here to commiserate.

Oh, Jin isn’t standing for this. No way. You’re his and no ex is going to win you back on his watch. Yeah, he knows you don’t still have feelings for them. That doesn't matter. Jin has no qualms throwing his status around.

He’s not going to pin any blame on you for this. Your ex shouldn’t even still be sniffing around. You’re in a new relationship now and with the captain of Frostheim no less. Doesn’t this fool know who they’re dealing with?

He’s certainly the type to get jealous but more because he doesn’t know why you put up with him than because he lacks trust in you.

He’ll also trust your judgement in this situation. If you tell him to back down or not pick a fight with your ex, he will. But he’s got to make sure everyone knows you’re off limits.

Much like Jin, Thoma’s not going to stand for anyone trying to win you back. But he’s going to be a lot more lowkey about it.

Blackmail’s not off the table when dealing with your ex, especially if they’re not taking no for an answer. He’s got the resources for it and has no problem threatening to leak information.

Like Jin, he can be prone to jealousy but does a good job hiding it. He’s not going to control your every move but that doesn’t mean he has to like everyone you interact with.

He’ll make sure your ex isn’t going to bother either of you again, especially if you're annoyed by your ex’s return. The last thing he wants is for you to feel uncomfortable.

Luca’s going to take more of a backseat role in this than Jin or Thoma. Not only does he trust you to make your own decisions, he also wants you to make your choice without him influencing you.

Sure, he wants you to choose him but he doesn’t want to feel like you only did so because he was pressuring you.

If you ask him for help driving your ex away, he’ll happily step forward to defend your honour. He’s tried to keep the feelings of jealousy hidden but he thinks it’s disrespectful that your ex is sniffing around when you’re clearly taken.

He’ll be firmly polite when talking to your ex though. He’ll make sure he doesn’t start an all out fight but there’ll be no doubt that your ex isn’t welcome around you anymore.

Kaito’s going to spiral into self-doubt. There’s no chance you’re going to stay with him when your ex is trying to get you back.

So he’s going to distance himself from you for a while. He’s not even going to try to fight for your affection, not if he thinks he’s already lost.

You’re going to have to go to him yourself and tell him that you only want to be with him. It’s going to take a while to convince him but once he puts two and two together, he’s over the moon.

He’ll still probably leave it to you to send your ex off but he’s definitely going to be poking his tongue out at your ex and puffing up his chest as soon as your back is turned.
