everyones freaking out over the brothers thing, but they state that they arent actually related, and the term brother for men youre unrelated to has a long homoerotic history. especially during the victorian period, of which piltover is inspired by. you guys dont need canon reasons to ship things, you can ignore canon thats fine to do. regardless, here is another reason you all can ship the yaoi brothers guilt free: they arent actually brothers, therefor you can ship them.

jayvik is purposefully vague about its status om whether its romantic or familial love. you can interpret it however you like, thats no sin. what IS the sin is that riot games (allegedly) has a history of doing this with their characters. there are many more instances of LoL characters that are clearly intended to have gay vibes with others of the same gender, but they cant just outright confirm that. fucking. udyr and lee sin come to mind as blatant examples of this, they have extremely gay vibes and lore and dialogue (they even love to be nebulously fused like jayvik), but have no actual word on their relationship. they could genuinely just be really good bros, or they could be gay! its up to you.

in conclusion, if youre letting this stop you from shipping fictional characters: stop it! get some help! have some creativity of your own and make things up that may seem out of character. thats the point of fandom- have fun with it. if youre scared about something not being canon, i have something i regret to tell you: none of your interpretations of either of these characters is anything close to canon!! nobodys is!! theyre our interpretations, so do whats most fun!!

OKAY. SO. Imagine with me for a second: Why does Spencer willingly stay with a family who locks him in their basement with only minor complaining? Why would someone so powerful, so terrifying, so dangerous that a group of people decided to seal him away forever stay with the first family he finds in sub-par conditions for years - especially someone who’s seen to be as high-maintenance as Spencer? Let me hit you with a theory: He’s chasing the feelings of validation, safety, and love - no matter how rarely it’s shown - that a family can provide. Being socially isolated for even a few years can do a number to a person’s psyche (I should know, I’m projecting onto this character right now), let alone thousands.

Now maybe Ghost can’t match thousands of years in isolation, but damn if he doesn’t have a few years of crippling loneliness on his record too.

I can see the two of them learning how to be vulnerable around others together, emotionally and physically; learning how to open up and how to talk through issues; and some third point, because points are better in threes.

and the farthest reach that makes 100% of the theory: the fact that kiris a fan of kouha in his character sketch page. westies took a quick peek at the wikipedia page and stamped yaoi on it despite literally every other problem in the text. even ignoring the freaky power dynamics it still isnt even gay bc the men entered relationships not bc they liked men but bc they hated women, which shouldnt be the reason kiri ‘even girls can be manly’ eijiro appreciates it in the first place

on the protection of the idea that kiri is gay is another thing entirely

kiris become a source of comfort for the lgbt fans, most notably gay boys, and theres a personal rage seeing a character popularized to be gay being with a girl. its not as easy to say ‘its just an hc’ when literally all his focal points revolve around male characters. (obv this is just a writing problem given theres literally like 5 girls in class and only 2 of them have had anything close to a major arc)

so given the notion that kiri is widely accepted to be gay + his lack of interactions with the girls there is reason to be a lil suspicious abt behind the shipping. 

the common defense i hear is that he could be bi/pan but given all the kiri/girl content ive been exposed to none of it actually acknowledges his bi/pansexuality and its ultimately just used to get away with giving a mlm character a female love interest

both sides r frustrating and dont rly matter to me bc i hold the multiverse but thats my take
