Credits to Baek Sun-Woo for writing Doctor Slump & making sure that there wasn't a single part where there was a misunderstanding between the characters atleast during the initial ep, all of them talk maturely about their feelings
Every time, the characters have something to say they don't beat around the bush and say it directly leaving no space for any misunderstanding, which also helps in making the series less predictable

My choice of binge in drama drought? Rewatch of the delicious delicious melo Missing You.
Why yes, it IS young Yeo Jin Goo and equally young Kim So Hyun as child version of the protagonists whose adult versions are played by Yoon Eun Hye and Park Yoochun (both of whom have not done any dramas in over a decade; him because of scandal and not sure about her but who back before all that stuff I used to adore so you can imagine my glee watching this first time.)
Missing You (also known as I Miss You) is the kind of old school melo that does not get made any more or at least if it would, it would be crazy makjang, not this earnest vibe that is somehow low key despite the dramatics, if it makes any sense.
This is the type of story where terrible things happen to good people and every time you think it's done, the story goes "well, actually..." (but yes, it ultimately has a happy ending.)
Our FL's life sucks. Her father is abusive, her mother a drunk. Then her father gets convicted for murder and she becomes utterly persona non grata in their small town. Her one ray of sunshine in Jeong Woo, the only son of a wealthy family, who is just sunshine in human form and who becomes her friend. His father btw is a total psycho even if not to his son (at one point he sics the dogs on his own small child half brother his wealthy dad created in his dotage because he does not want to share his fortune.)
But ultimately, this is not a story about a girl mistreated by the town who makes a friend or even of a rich family's money mad shenanigans.
This is a story of adults haunted by an act of horrific violence in their childhood. Because both Jeong Woo and Soo Yeon, two sweet 15 year olds, get kidnapped by a psycho. And while Jeong Woo manages to escape. Soo Yeon is raped before she's rescued.
And so Soo Yeon has to live with that trauma and Jeong Woo has to live with his moment of cowardice (understandable as a kid of course but...)
When they meet as adults, her as a fashion designer living with wealthy, mysterious "Harry" (not really a spoiler - he's the grown up version of the kid she helped, the kid half brother of ML's dad I mentioned - yes the love triangle involves an uncle and nephew, I told you this is MELOOOOO) and him as a cop who's dedicated his life to atonement, they are both vvvvvvvv fucked up and deliciousness goes from there.
Have a MV aptly titled "Cry"

Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness
#kdramas#so many orphans#you would think that Korean children never have parents who make it to 60#if they manage to be alive they are the worst

Drama rec masterlist | Drama rant thread (beware of spoilers)
This drama was very comforting to watch. I was going through a pretty rough patch myself, and this drama had some moments that just really hit. Though you may not be as low as they are, I still think this hits several points that young adults go through as they grow up and realize being grown up is harder than you first think. Learning to seek the small moments of happiness all around us instead of letting yourselves get consumed by the hustle of trying to survive.
We have two people who have both hit the rock bottom of their lives, and no one in their lives truly understand just what they are actually going through. And though they are not feeling the same pain, they can both empathize with each other in a way their friends and family can't.
I really love how the drama never tries to compare their problems - they never make one out to be worse than the other. They both struggle and both need help, and so they help each other. It doesn't matter who's got it "worse", they support each other the best they can.
And I love love love how openly they communicate. Very rarely do they let misunderstandings cause trouble, and even if it does happen, they clear the air almost immediately. They do everything they can to support the other, but are not afraid to hold the other accountable if they cross a line.
Also the actors they picked are actually perfect, and their chemistry is off the charts. Even for the second couple, it is a perfect match. I loved them so much!!
It's somewhat like Fight For My Way, in a sense that they have to work to overcome their hardships and find new dreams to work towards. And I think you would like this one, if you've watched Hometown Cha Cha Cha and liked that. It gives me the same vibe.
There is one thing that bothers me a little bit though -it was actually a friend of mine who first pointed it out to me, and afterwards it became so obvious. Both of these main characters are shown to go to therapy and as a result both get some medication they need to take regularly for their mental health. Yet we see them drinking in almost every single episode - a lot of the times it's not just one drink either, they drink a lot. Considering both of them are supposed to be doctors, it just feels all kinds of weird tbh. And they never do address it properly, either.
That is also why the drama hit a little bit of a lull for me around the half-way point. They just seemed to forget for a couple of episodes what the drama was supposed to be about - but they do get back on track again. It felt a little superficial. And because it is a drama, all their troubles magically go away in the end, but I guess I can't complain too much because people want their perfectly happy endings.
All in all, I really did love this drama. It came at a time when I needed it, and it gave me some comfort. It's definitely one I'll watch again someday.

* 10 : 09 PM . POSTURE: jan. 13, 2016.
CHARACTERS: melanie bae & yoon yeeun. WORDS: 739. WARNINGS: swearing.
Easily attached. Those were the words noted by Yeo Joo-eun in Heri’s file after her 6-month trainee evaluation. Always a half-step behind, Joo-eun pitied the fourteen-year-old whose bold features never seemed to match her muted nature. Uninteresting, at most. Those were the words remarked by Jeong Ka-rin to her creative director when Heri broke down in the practice room at sixteen, heartbroken for reasons other trainees would’ve been overjoyed.
Disappointment always seemed to hang over Heri’s head. Following her like a shadow, reminding anyone who glanced at her of the muteness that defined her personage. That muteness, somehow, never attacked her talent. Everyone knew Heri was talented— quite so. She was known for her voice, effortlessly high with a natural airiness. For her ear, musicality is embedded in her every thought. And for her kindness, like snow with its beautification of everything it covered. If it were not for the permanent sadness stitched into the creases of her eyes, Heri could have had her every wish. But self-sabotage never allowed for many wishes.
Within the group, Melanie was regarded as Heri’s direct opposite. Where Heri seemed to dampen with melancholic disappointment, Melanie blossomed with poise— the same elegant poise that escaped Heri the moment she debuted. Jae-jin, the girls’ manager from the beginning, liked to joke the two were yin and yang. Melanie, known to scoff at any comparison between herself and Heri, liked to make the point that yin and yang were direct opposites, equal opposites. And Heri was never Melanie's equal.
No one quite knows when ‘Heri and Melanie’ became ‘Heri’s obsession with Melanie’. but sometime between their debut and Melanie's first solo project, Heri's eyes gained vitality. The muteness that dominated her bold features grew lost in a glaze of enchantment. For the first time, “possibly in her life” (Naira was known to scoff at any mention of Heri), Heri allowed herself to be. Casting a wish as blissfully as the white snow cataloged on gorgeous winter days.
“It's like she puts you on a pedestal,” Juniper mutters half-heartedly. Melanie's eyebrows raise, making eye contact with the group's leader through the mirror.
“And you don’t?” She speaks with a laugh, drawing an unimpressed stare from Juniper.
“Personally, I think it’s cute. like-” she pauses. “When was the last time she looked like- I don’t know… like she didn’t dread her existence?” Juniper giggles at this, deep dimples appearing in her pale, apple cheeks.
“Can't remember.”
Melanie hums in affirmation of her point. A brief silence enveloped the two girls before Melanie spoke up once more. “Apparently she’s pretty good at making songs. like, producing them.”
It is Juniper's eyebrows that rise this time, surprised brown eyes watching Melanie and anticipating her next words.
“Jae-jin told me they’re giving her a chance. She might end up producing something with Carter for some kids’ show.”
“So they're like… testing her.” Melanie nods, “Yeah, Carter gets to evaluate her, see how good she really is—”
“Potentially make her cry.”
Juniper interrupts, adding in the thought with a brief chuckle released from Melanie.
“He's excited about it for some reason. Don’t know why, really.”
“Mels,” Juniper begins, sending the golden-haired singer a deadpan look. “Because he can be an asshole to her and get paid for it.”
She nods, slowly, pensive in her agreement. “He's mean for free, getting paid for it? That’s like- the perfect scenario for him.” Juniper mutters, shifting in her position perched on her closest friend's bed sheets.
“How do you think it’s gonna go for her?” Juniper speaks up quietly, almost as if she was afraid of posing the question. Her gentle fear is validated through Melanie’s casual scoff accompanied by a roll of her eyes.
“Honestly? I don’t give a fuck.”
Juniper's eyebrows shoot up in surprise once again. Despite her increasing awareness of how much Melanie resented the group’s second-youngest, the depth of her disdain for Heri never ceased to catch Juniper off guard.
“I want her gone. If Carter can’t manage to do that, I’ll go to Trenton— shit, even Ka-rin if I have to."
Juniper breathes deeply, fear creeping into her eyes as she takes in the words of the woman she’s looked up to since she first entered the company. In that moment Juniper understood the depths of Heri’s reverence for the group’s most popular member.
And Juniper knew better than anyone else that when Melanie Bae wanted something, she would get it.

Build Up Ep 6 Recap Part 1: Bad News
Welcome back to the only recap series about MNET’s Build Up that is being written by me! In the previous post, we finished episode 5 (almost) and covered the first performance of round one of the 3x3 death match, Pray (I’ll Be Your Man). In this one, we’ll cover the ranking from the end of episode 5 and then dive in to the second performance, Bad News. There will also definitely be some actual bad news, no matter which team you prefer. Let’s face the music.
First things first I’m the realest: Let’s cover the ranking from the end of episode 5, which I forgot to mention in the previous recap. I am not clear what these rankings are for, as a lot of the people on the list have already been eliminated, but here we are. Those who have been eliminated already have a strike through in their name. I also will note how much they rose/fell since the previous ranking. Here we go:

Ok, let’s get to episode 6!
Once we get the recappy stuff out of the way, we get back to the second team to perform, the team consisting of Bain, Bitsaeon, and Kim Minseo. In the previous round, Bain and Minseo sang River and came in second place; new recruit Bitsaeon had been partnered with Jay for their excellent (but losing) performance of Dangerously.
The team is really nervous because the stakes are high and the previous team, Jeup’s team, did really well with Pray (I’ll Be Your Man).
Dahee asks Team Bitbain if they’re nervous. The English captions punk out a bit, but it’s the same clip that we saw at the end of episode 5. Basically Bitsaeon just says that the other team did well, but they themselves practiced hard too and believe in themselves.
VCG encourages them, saying “You were my top three in the last round.” That doesn’t quite make sense, since they weren’t a team of three in the last round, but I get what he means. They’re good! They’re really good. We’re reminded of how well Bitsaeon did with Dangerously and how well the other two did with River.
Then we’re also reminded of the Rival Choosing ceremony, when Jay’s team went to the Moodboard of Doom and set it so that Team Bitbain would have to face the team they most wanted to avoid -- Jeup’s team. Guys, I don’t feel well. Why did these two teams have to get matched up? Sigh.
Bitsaeon says he’s been thinking about song selection.
When he thinks about Jeup’s team and their harmonies, it makes him feel dizzy. He kind of wants to avoid going straight up against Jeup’s team by also doing insane high pitched harmonies. Instead, he wants to come up with a song that will be unexpected. Bain and Minseo feel like Bitsaeon knows what he’s doing and are happy to let him strategize.
On a day that we’re told is the next day but clearly isn’t based on how much everyone’s hair has grown…
Check out Bitsaeon's s w e a t e r !
Bitsaeon says he wants something kind of like River or Dangerously, but “upgraded” -- something new. Bain seems to be the one who suggests Kiss of Life’s song Bad News. I knew I liked Bain. You guys, I’m a Bain fan for life.
You guys, I don’t even talk about how much I love, love, love, LOVE Kiss of Life because I feel like they’re invisible somehow. I just don’t see people talking about them. But omg, I love them. They’re so talented, and they’re all adults. They’re like a supergroup but they’re rookies. I love them so much. Let me just tell you about them for a moment.
Natty was the ultra talented li’l baby on Sixteen, the show that created Twice. She’s Thai and is a fantastic and charismatic dancer, and also a singer of unusual range
Belle is an S+ tier singer with whistle tone ability. She’s like Ariana Grande or something, but she also writes songs, and in fact co-wrote Unforgiven by Le Sserafim.
Julie is from Hawaii and has a velvety vocal color and the best smile and the most swag and can also pirouette on one foot like what what are you
Haneul is the only fully Korean member and is a cute maknae who attracts a lot of stans, and is also a very good vocalist
They do a thing where their videos are like mini movies with intersecting storylines. So, if you want to watch the video for Bad News, be sure to watch the video for Nobody Knows right after it to get the rest of the story. Also, then you should watch a live performance of Nobody Knows because their live singing is unbelievable and also the choreography is EVERYTHING.
I’ve been thinking about how a team should have done Nobody Knows as their song for the second round, because it’s so sexy and interesting, but then I thought, yeah, but Kiss of Life are rookies -- would anyone even know these songs? And they do! And my favorite team is going to do one! I’m so happy!! Even if they lose, this is going to be a great performance.
Ok anyway back to it. The on screen captions describe Bad News as a mix of rock and hip-hop, which is fair, and Bitsaeon says that it’s different from anything they’ve done so far, which is also true. They’re having a little trouble deciding how to handle Belle’s really cute squeak on the word “moves” in the chorus. Bain is a little stressed out about it but it sounds good. He says he’s going to practice it to death.
Oh no, Bain, please don’t overpractice and destroy your voice.
The performance begins.
Here’s an in-studio audio version for you to add to your Youtube playlist. Omg, I love it. I love it so much. The arrangement works so well. I actually like the song slightly better in this key, and they made it more Western-y and less hip-hoppy and I love it, which surprises me because I don’t listen to country music or anything. But this WORKS. Ok, let’s see the live version. Please, oh please, may Bain’s voice hold out.
Full version without reactions
Sorry, I just thought this freeze frame was so funny
My thoughts:
Well, this was obviously fantastic. Amazing, great, loved it, perfect, wouldn’t change a thing about the performance itself. I have to assume, without seeing any of the others, that this performance would have/could have/should have beaten almost any other performance.
And just as obviously, it will lose this round.
They spent too much time rapping and not enough time showcasing their fantastic vocals, and the song is just not emotional enough to overcome the juggernaut of Jeup’s team.
I mean, maybe I’m wrong and they win but I feel pretty sure that they lost. I’m just glad they went down swinging and hopefully they won some new fans.
Minseo was possibly the weakest of the three, and he was still fantastic. I think some of the notes were slightly too deep for him, and others were a tiny bit too high, and it made him occasionally a bit pitchy. But I still love, love, love his vocal color, his absence of nasality, and his swagger and confidence on stage. Minseo, fighting! I hope you debut soon!
I also love Bitsaeon’s voice. He shines so much better with this team than he did with Jay’s. Like, ok, maybe he didn’t wear a fuzzy sweater this time, but he sounded like a real rapper when he rapped and his power notes were powerful. No nasality, no pitchiness, just all good technique and plenty of stage presence. Bitsaeon, fighting! I’ll keep up with M.O.N.T. to keep up with you!
Bain has my favorite voice of the three. Ok, is he Park Jeup? No. He doesn’t have Jeup’s insane range. But Bain’s natural vocal color is nicer than Jeup’s (to me) and he can still hit fairly high notes without straining or using falsetto. I can feel the proper technique just oozing out of him. He’s so good. Also, he raps just as well as he sings. He hits every consonant and vowel and brings interest and *blam* to it as he goes.
I don’t know, fam -- for me he’s got that RM / Joohoney energy that I love so much in an idol. Like, ok, maybe he doesn’t meet Kpop beauty standards but he doesn’t have to because he has an “it” factor on stage. Like his “to the left to right back and forth…” part in the bridge, I mean, it was kind of sexy, wasn’t it? Also, I’m predicting now that his “on & on & on” toward the beginning will get an instant replay and reaction. Let’s see if I’m right.
So many awkward screenshots
In the MNET edit, we hear a judge call out “Oh, cowboy!” in English at the start. And overall, everyone seems to be having a great time watching. The other contestants look amazed and the judges are bopping. And yes, of course, Bain’s “on & on & on” did get an instant reply.
VCG cheers for Bain’s high pitched squeals.
Jaehwan jumps to his feet.
I feel like this is the most we’ve seen Wendy enjoy a performance on the show.
Backstage, balladeer Yoon Inhwan turns to Donghun and says, “It’s as if he’s possessed!” (I think he’s talking about Bain.)
Dahee is also having a great time.
When they’re done, everyone cheers.
Sorichir-ra! (MAKE SOME NOISE!!)
Geonu points like, “that’s my teammate!”
Everyone loved it. Someone -- I think Wendy? -- says “I was completely slain by Bain.” Yes, Bain was undoubtedly the MVP here. VCG and Jaehwan, still talking about Bain, say “He’s at his peak. He totally knows what’s going on. He totally knows what he’s good at.” Wendy agrees, saying, “IT all comes out on stage.”
It’s time for the judges to evaluate, and they don’t really want to, you can tell. They’re like, “how do you judge something like this?” It’s like choosing between a pair of shoes and a bowl of ice cream. Like, what do you want to do with it? What do you need right now?
Baekho says, “I have nothing to say. It was just so good. I forgot that it was a survival program -- it felt like I was just watching a concert.”
Dahee is grinning, looking over at the guys to see how this praise is affected them, but you can see that it’s not quite enough. They won’t feel at peace until they know the actual outcome.
But Dahee is still the best. What is she wearing? What is that? She’s still the best.
Baekho goes on, “There was a part that was particularly impressive. Bain-shi, the performance really showed how well you use your voice.” And we get the “on&on&on” part again. Fair.
EVERYONE, I TOLD YOU ABOUT BAIN. I TOLD YOU.
Baekho continues, “Bain gets possessed on stage! If there were someone like him on my team, I’d feel so thankful.”
Wendy says, “I really enjoyed watching it. I felt like I was watching a concert, too.” She likes how they walked in at the beginning, like cowboys, and how they kept the energy up.
VCG asks Minseo how long he has been a trainee, and he says 4 years. VCG says that if Minseo is this good after only a few actual performances, what more is he capable of in the future? Both VCG and Solar are excited to see where he goes next. Solar is like, “You’re obviously with an agency, right?” And Minseo says, “um, actually… no…” And Solar is like WTF? VCG says that if he were CEO of an agency, he’d take Minseo immediately. I think that’s on the horizon….
Backstage, Woong looks right into the camera and says “Brand New Music! Call him right now!!!” (At least, I think that’s what he says. They bleep out part of the company name.)
I guess there’s no time to compliment Bitsaeon, which is a bummer; I think he also did really well. But now it’s time to make BPR Unnie unhappy.
The judges have to vote for which team did better, and they joke about going on strike, saying that they just can’t choose. But they do choose, of course.
Who are we losing of my two favorites, Jeup or Bain?
COMMERCIAL BREAK!
I repeat, who are we losing of my two favorites, Jeup or Bain?
The blue votes are for Team Bit-Bain, and the red votes are for Jeup’s team. So guest judge, Wendy, and Jaehwan went with team Bit-Bain, while Baekho, Solar, VCG, and Eunkwang went for Jeup’s team.
We’re losing Bain, Bitsaeon, and Minseo.
They hold it together with dignity. Bain even has it in him to give the other team the thumbs up. Class act.
Jeup is sort of pacing around with his hand on his ribcage, as if he’s trying to calm his heart. He’s crying a little. Oh, no, MY heart! And your heart! WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT ALL OUR HEARTS?
Suhwan steps forward to speak on behalf of his team, and says things like they worked hard and think both teams did well and thank you everyone and yadda yadda.
Dahee talks to Jeup, saying, “You must have been very nervous.”
Baekho picks up his mic and says, “Careful now, you’ll lose your muscles if you don’t stop crying.” If anyone would know, it’d be Baekho!
Jeup clears his throat and says, “I normally don’t cry. Actually, this performance was a bit scary. The other team was so good, and I’m the oldest member of my team. I thought I shouldn’t let my teammates know about my anxiety. I think it was very difficult in many ways. Before the performance, I told my teammates to be calm, but I think I was talking to myself. Thank you, everyone.”
Dahee says that Bain, Bitsaeon, and Minseo have been eliminated.
Bain says, “I had a lot of fun on stage. Bitsaeon and Minseo worked so hard.”
He’s fighting back tears, but he goes on. “Of course, I do feel sad. But it was great to show you myself through Build Up.
The judges reassure them that they really did a really good job too. They’re sad that they have to send away a team that did so well.
But backstage, Bain’s team seems to be relatively at peace. They know they did well and they’re still proud of the job they did, even if they’re sad that they lost. At least they went out on a high note.
If you’re sad about losing Bain, watch this video of him singing Unholy by Sam Smith.
And I think I'll end this post here, because this is almost 30 pictures already. So I'll see you in the next one, when Team Gruff N'Smooth takes on Team sweeties. Take care until then!

Guild Member Next Door (kinda) translation - Part 11
Click here for the previous part - or click here for Part 1!
Disclaimer, as always: This is based on an MTL translation, I do not know Korean myself, I am trying more to stick with the impressions/vibes of a sentence instead of a strict word-for-word meaning - and most importantly, this is only for fun.
Now, let's get to the text!
Jeong Se-hyung: Soo… how’s the interview gone?
- I have so much to tell you
Jeong Se-hyung: Haha sounds like it’s time to get roaring drunk
- Sure, come by this evening...
Jeong Se-hyung: Ok
He’d flunked the interview. It felt like everything he tried to say got stuck in his throat, words leaving his mouth in an endless stutter and to add insult to injury, after it was all over another interviewee went right up to the HR head, calling him “uncle” and joining him for lunch. Of course, he’d also applied to other jobs and he hadn’t expected this to be an easy job to get, but he still felt cheated. If they already had someone picked out for the position, why waste everyone’s time by doing these interviews?
Before the memory could grow distant and this awful anger burn out again, Yeo-woon wanted to at least write down a raw, heartfelt review of his experience, on a job searching website. But all the closest cafes were overfilled, every seat taken. He couldn’t help but think that there were just too many people around this area. So, like last time, Yeo-woon went across the street and found the now-familiar road to another cafe.
When he opened the door, a little chime sounded and the aromatic smell of coffee filled his lungs. Here, every seat was also taken, but he saw one customer who had just finished up, leaving with their tray. It was perfect timing and Yeo-woon headed straight for the empty seat, placing his bag on the chair. Some people nearby, who’d eyed the chair like hungry wolves and made a move to get up, all settled back down with a sigh.
Yeo-woon wasn’t sure why so many people would want to switch to this particular chair. There wasn’t even a convenient plug to keep one’s laptop charged and the cramped spot could barely fit a single person.
‘It’s some popular spot that everyone except me understands the reason for, is that what it is?’
“…?”
When Yeo-woon took his wallet and made a move towards the counter, to order a coffee, he noticed a familiar face. The man behind the counter, who stared off into space with an expression like he’d prefer death over being here, because the world was a horrible place and having to stand behind this counter was somehow even worse. So Yeo-woon sat back down for a moment. That’s how he learned that his seat actually had a pretty clear view of the counter, even from a sitting position.
“Would you like to order?”
He’d finally approached the counter and as he looked over the menu, that’s what the man behind the counter asked him. Yeo-woon took a glance at his name-tag. ‘Yoon Jigu’* were the yellow letters engraved on a simple black background.
(* = translator’s note that Jigu is written and said like Earth in korean - so this name is like being called Hope or Hunter - no idea how to localize that lmfao)
“I’d like an Americano and cheesecake.”
“Are you eating here?”
Yeo-woon just nodded, otherwise staying silent.
‘I was scared when I met him last, because of the hat and jogging clothes he wore, but now he’s still intimidating, just a little less than before.’
Even dressed in a professional uniform like that, Yeo-woon’s heart sped up whenever their eyes met, maybe because he still had those glinting piercings in his ears. But even if he’d lean over and ask Yeo-woon how much money he had on his person, he wouldn’t be too worried. So he took a deep breath, trying his best to calm down.
“That other time.”
As soon as Yeo-woon said this, the man looked up from where he’d been inputting the order into the register. With the sharp glare sent his way, Yeo-woon was left to wonder if he’d said something bad.
“You were there to feed the cat in the alley, right?”
“…You live around these parts?”
“No. I’m that one person who asked you for directions.”
“So what, you know me?”
“I not really sure?”
“Then why act as if we know each other?”
“…So you don’t remember me. I asked you for directions and accidentally surprised you. I hope that helps you remember...”
After Yeo-woon said that, the man’s gaze seemed focused in on his face for a strangely long time, but eventually he pursed his lips, shaking his head. Somehow, Yeo-woon felt disappointed that the other didn’t remember him. But the man himself seemed strangely displeased too.
He tapped on the register a few more times, made sure Yeo-woon’s card was in the card reader and then finished the transaction. With a slight crackle, a receipt with Yeo-woon’s order appeared. The man tore it off and held it out to Yeo-woon, together with his card.
“The things you ordered-”
“Hyung, the cheesecake out front has run out, so I’ll cut some more real quick.”
“…are on this receipt.”
“…?”
“...”
At first the man didn’t seem to realize what he’d said. The part-timers behind him instantly looked away and tried to stifle their own laughter, while the man’s face now slowly got redder and redder. Yeo-woon only remembered to take the card and receipt from him, once the man had turned completely red, from his nape all the way to his previously white ears.
He didn’t want to laugh at someone who was so clearly embarrassed, so Yeo-woon instead clutched his card tightly as he went back to his seat, keeping his head down for a while, until the impulse to laugh out loud had finally passed. Some minutes later, he collected his drink and cake from the front and brought them back to his seat, where he finally got to turn on his laptop and access the job-search site, where he wrote his feedback with more passion than he’d put into his own job application. Reading it back, he really liked the way it was devoid of any swears, but still showed his anger about the situation in a very polite way.
Jeong Se-hyung: I’ll get there a bit late, maybe at 9.
- K
Jeong Se-hyung: Remember to clean up before I get there~
- ㅗ
There wasn’t even a point to cleaning, when it was just his friend coming by. And even if he put in the effort, they’d just undo it all with their plans to drink, so it’d be like he never did anything by the time tomorrow morning would arrive. So Yeo-woon just calmly closed the job search page’s tab, thinking to himself that he may as well stay at the cafe for another hour or so. He opened up some other things to invest his time. First a news page about current events, then a newly updated webtoon he’d recently become invested in and finally, he remembered something else he’d wanted to do and so he looked up the very cafe he was sitting in.

★★★★★
It’s a new cafe, so their bathrooms are really clean! The coffee is kinda mid, but not the worst coffee I’ve bought. The real highlight is that one part-timer who’s really good-looking. Pretty sure that’s single-handedly raising the value of the entire neighbourhood.

What’s up with these reviews? Is this some viral marketing stunt? Hmm… maybe I’m just more handsome, so I don’t get it. The coffee is cheap and nice tho.

I just happened to be in the neighbourhood and at first I just thought this was some company’s interview location. Was a bit skeptical, but everyone’s honest, helpful reviews convinced me to give it a try and I’m really glad I did... so thank you :)

Last time, he hadn’t even bothered with reading the reviews, just looked at the overall rating and accepted those, but now he saw firsthand how many reviews were just complimenting some person’s looks. Yeo-woon looked up and over at the counter, where the man was still busy moving back and forth. Was that why such a remote cafe was always full of customers? Was it really all because of one employee?
“...”
“...”
By chance, the man looked over and since Yeo-woon was still looking at him, they happened to make eye contact. Strangely enough, the man frowned and then quickly looked away again.

I’m here the second time now and their cake is really delicious!! I’ll probably visit again, if I’m ever in the area.
After leaving that review for his visit, same as some might do in a guestbook, Yeo-woon closed his laptop and finished his coffee. Then he looked back down at what he’d doodled on a random napkin throughout his stay here. He’d done it just to keep his hands busy while the soft music played on in the background. Now he finished it, by putting a little dot below one of the eyes.
‘It’s not like I did it on purpose. I just draw whatever I see. That’s all there is to it.’

K-Group: LEE DA EUL (20 5'7")/F/F/F CHOI JI HO (20, 6'0")/F/P/F JEON WOO SEOK (21, 5'8")/F/F/F JEONG I CHAN (23, 5'10")/P/F/F KIM MIN HYUK (25, 5'11")/P/F/P - none of em were good. but i'll pass the one with the short-sleeve blazer cause he WAS the team LEE SEUNG HWAN (24, 5'10")/P/P/P - and the rapper with the blazer LIM JUN SEO (19, 5'10")/F/F/F

K-Group: KIM JI WOONG (25, 5'10)/P/P/P HAN YU JIN (17, 5'10")/F/P/P JI YUN SEO (19, 6'0")/F/P/P - the tall kid with big ears was borderline, but no one stood out as horrible. KIM MIN SEOUNG (20, 5'8")/P/P/P KIM TAE RAE (22, 5'8")/F/P/P KUM JUN HYEON (22, 5'11")/F/P/P YOON JONG WOO (24, 5'9")/F/P/P
KIM JI WOONG (25, 5'10)/P/P seems chill? plus he's cute comforting that other kid. I just googled it, he's the BL actor.
I mean it was fine. They all get passes.
HAN YU JIN (17, 5'10")/F/P/P - all this kid does is fuck up and cry and whine. HOW did he get into ZB1?? Like??? fuck that. He's not even good in ZB1 and his attitude is piss poor. "If there's a member thats ruining the performance, it's you" - still accurate.
G-Group: RICKY (20, 6'0")/F/F/F - this bitch has to cover his tattoo every damn day? *eyeroll* BRIAN (22, 6'1")/F/F/F CHEN JIAN YU (26, 5'10")/P/?/F FENG JUN LAN (25, 5'10")/P/F KRYSTIAN (24, 5'10")/P/?/F NA KAMDEN (23, 6'0")/F/P/F ZHANG SHUAI BO (22, 6'0")/P/F/F
So is KRYSTIAN (24, 5'10")/P/? really a dick or did he get an MNet edit?
Awwwww, they got NA KAMDEN (23, 6'0")/F/P crying! :/ There must have been SOME truth to it! eff you followers.
So I've decided. I'm Team KRYSTIAN (24, 5'10"). I think he was unjustly evil edited and NA KAMDEN (23, 6'0") is a whiney baby. And that's proven throughout other episodes too. yes, it's frustrating, but he took it to a place he didn't need to take it.
RICKY (20, 6'0")/F/F has the ability to both look boring as hell yet charismatic at the same time.
Honestly trainer bro, eff you. KRYSTIAN (24, 5'10") looks feminine and uncharismatic? fuck all the way off with that.

K-Group: CHOI SEUNG HUN (16, 5'7")/F/F/F JEON HO YOUNG (19, 5'10")/F/P/F JUNG HO JIN (21, 6'0")/F/F/F JUNG SE YUN (16, 5'8")/F/F/F PARK GWAN YOUNG (23, 5'7")/P/P/P - the only one I'm passing is the older one with the bolero tie in the white. PARK MIN SEOK (22, 6'0")/F/P/F
WHO PUT this angel baby on a show like this? CHOI SEUNG HUN (16, 5'7")/F/F
G-Group: YUTAKA (25 5'7")/F/?/F CHEN REN YOU (20, 6'0")/F/F/F HYO (22, 5'8")/F/F/F KEI (18 5'7")/F/F/F QIU SHENG YANG (23, 5'10")/F/F/F RIKU (19, 5'11")/F/F/F XUAN HAO (28, 5'11")/F/F/F

okay this baby PARK JI HOO (18, 5'9")/F/F is cuuuuuute.
wait, how did PARK HAN BIN (22, 5'9") end up on this team??
G-Group: NICE (24, 5'11")/F/F/F CAI JIN XIN (20, 6'2")/F/F/F CHEN LIANG (24, 6'1")/F/F/F LIN SHI YUAN (25, 6'0")/F/F/F OLLIE (18, 6'0")/F/F/F OSUKE (21, 5'4")/F/F/F TOUI (21, 5'11")/F/?/F

okay but OH SUNG MIN (23, 5'11")/P/F over here acting like the leader
HUI (31, 5'7")/P/P doing too much though and it doesn't match the group :/ Like take it down 3 notches. Idk man. I'mma pass him though.
yeah KIM GYU VIN (20, 6'0") struggling. I've said it 100x. He's NOT good.
G-Group: DANG HONG HAI (20, 5'11")/F/F/F - failing knock off hansol ANTHONNY (20, 5'8")/F/P/F HARU (18, 5'6")/F/P/F HARUTO (19, 5'7")/F/P/P JAY CHANG (23, 5'9")/P/P/P WINNIE (25 5'7")/F/F/P WUMUTI (25, 5'9")/P/F/F
I'm liking WUMUTI (25, 5'9")/P/F alot more here than in Build Up. Here he seems real and in Build Up he seemed fake. Like not even real cunty, like put on cunty.
hahaha, omfg HUI (31, 5'7")/P/P "It's K-pop, but he's singing Pop." Um, who's gonna tell him?
haaaaaaaaaaa, the judges being in love with JAY CHANG (23, 5'9")/P/P/P. GIRL, SAME!
omggg, WUMUTI (25, 5'9")/P/F is so cute in the backround when they say the other kids ears are red!
also fr though, how CAN JAY CHANG (23, 5'9")/P/P/P sing like that while dancing? And how did he not win this whole damn competition?? AND HOW DID HE ONLY GET 66??
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait, how did they pick which ones arm wrestled?
