What I read in September 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love this series so much!!!!
Tumblr media
Such a disappointment
Tumblr media Tumblr media
very silly nostalgic read, got it in a @shiftythrifting book box XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How is this story so good!!!!
Tumblr media
A very slow, kinda philosophical, kinda slice of life, kida biology textbook on snails ^_^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loved that Touya didn't take a specific side when he reaches the one kingdom, just tries to prevent any further killing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really sweet slice-of-life manga
Tumblr media
Cute-reread, could have been a bit longer to fully flesh-out the message. But over all cute.
Tumblr media
Another cute slice-of-life
Tumblr media
Preparing for the agony...
Tumblr media
a fairly good sequel Arden can be yeeted into the sun.
Tumblr media
I love this series every time I reread it.
Tumblr media
Not a bad overview
Tumblr media
He's in her clutches!
Tumblr media
I didn't know much going into this and there was a lot more murder than anticipated XD

Tiny Review: A Man 2022. Investigative procedural with a theme of identity.
Tumblr media
I like the 1st act, where the mystery is set up in a heartwarming manner. The procedural 2nd act is good too. But the last act kinda peters out. I think it’s because there isn’t really any shocking or twist reveal.
That ending scene left me wondering what happened though. And it took me a while to puzzle out what happened: Akira finally understood the appeal of switching identities.

A Man (Japanese: ある男, "Aru otoko") is a 2022 Japanese psychological thriller film directed by Kei Ishikawa, based on a novel with the same name by Keiichiro Hirano. It stars Sakura Andô, Satoshi Tsumabuki, and Yôko Maki.

Summer Time Machine Blues (サマー タイム マシン ブルース)
Tumblr media
Summary: On a hot summer day, a group of university students accidentally break the remote control to the aircon unit in their hangout. After finding a time machine, they decide to go back in time and bring the remote - before it breaks - to the present day.
A breezy, sweet sci-fi comedy that successfully navigates usual time-travel pitfalls and has a cast of fully believable characters.
Rating: 4.25/5

Let's be honest...did you really think my inability to read Japanese would stop me from buying manga while in Japan? 🥴🥴
Japanese manga sometimes come with bonus material, so I scoured every bookstore in the area in the hopes I could score some cool stuff. I was pretty successful! ☺️☺️ I wish US publishers would follow suit... I'd gladly pay a little extra for some bonus goodies. 👉👈
I also grabbed the first volume of 7SEEDS, since all the publishers in the US are too scared to publish masterpieces these days. 🤔🤔 Speaking of Yumi Tamura, the Kaleidoscope collection was on my wishlist! 🥰✨
I wasn't able to find the official Akatsuki no Yona art book, but my sister pointed me towards the 2021 calendar that was made to celebrate volume 34...close enough! ☺️💖
