Hands down the best experience for us in 2023 was a week long Yoga retreat at @veda5wellness . Not only was it a new experience for us, but it was also extremely necessary. We got an opportunity to pause, focus on ourselves, on our health, body and mind, we got to live in Himalayas, breathe fresh air each day, we got to learn Yoga and meditation while keeping our laptops and mobile away. We took so much back to our regular lives that we can't imagine a better return on investment. . . After a lot of research, we are glad we did this with Veda5. It was a perfect experience as their staff pampered us with great satvik food, ayurvedic therapies and tons of namastes each day (yes each staff member would always greet you with a smile, hands joint together and a namaste). They teleported us to a different world that was so much more polite, considerate and caring than the world we know of. Rishikesh, also known as the Yoga Capital of the World, is jam-packed with several yoga centres and ashrams in every lane. So why did we choose @veda5wellness , perched on a secluded mountain 10 kilometres away from Rishikesh, for our week-long yoga retreat? Well, many reasons. This is how we filtered: ▶️ Overcrowding - Rishikesh attracts a large number of yoga enthusiasts, which makes the town as well as the yoga centres very crowded. ▶️ Lack of spaces - Every other narrow lane in Rishikesh has at least 2-3 yoga centres. The buildings take up so much space, there's no room for gardens, open areas, fresh air, or greenery. Practicing yoga in such an environment didn't feel too befitting. ▶️ Quality and Authenticity - Most centres prioritise quantity over quality. Not all centres have experienced and authentic teachers. ▶️ Lack of individual attention - We didn't want to learn and practice yoga with 50 more students who are all on different levels of yoga experience. ▶️ Other forms of Vedic healing - Yoga is just one form of Vedic healing. There are others like meditation, pranayama, Ayurveda, mantra chanting, and sacred sounds. We were looking for a centre offering multiple forms, if not all, of such treatments. With Veda5, we did not have to think about all the above issues. The campus is spacious with lots of greenery and fresh air to breathe. The yoga teachers are qualified and reputable. And they take in a small batch ensuring that each guest gets individualised attention, refining each of our yoga techniques. In addition to that, there's doctor consultation, based on which Ayurveda treatments are prescribed daily, the centre teaches different forms of meditation each day, serves us delicious sattvic food, and keeps us busy with fun activities.
