The worst part about dating Homelander isn't even the fact he's fucking terrible it's that you KNOW how good he can be when he tries.

Like he can be gentle. Give thoughtful gifts. Say sweet things. But it's not like his usual public bullshit. He's doing this genuinely. Because mixed into whatever the FUCK the terrible thing is that you two have. He does love you.

And knowing his past only makes it worse. Considering how terribly he's been mistreated and how much it influenced his psyche...you kinda wonder at times how he isn't...worse, somehow. You've seen people in movies attempt to blow the whole world up for much less.

But it's a lot to think about. Enough so that it gives you a headache. So instead, when he's offering flowers instead of insults. Loving touches versus forceful. You indulge in it for as long as it lasts.

Lu fandom I love you to death but PLEASE write centric about other characters BESIDES WILD I'm begging y'all. Like yea he's good, he has trauma and stuff like that but what about SKY The guilt of starting everything and getting told "you suck bitch" to his FACE And wind who had to stab a man and save his sister at 12 and wars like yea wild has war trauma but what about WARS ITS IN HIS NAME I love wild but y'all use him WAY TOO MUCH, and water him down to "funny depressed gender man that sets things on fire" and ignore the fact that he's actually pretty mature sometimes. Like yea there's a bunch of interesting things you can do with him but be honest HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DONE THAT ALREADY What about Times magic, wars not being canon, four and the minish, Sky and oh my god the OPPORTUNITIES y'all miss with this man. And its sad bc if wild isn't your favorite in the fandom, then your basically in the trenches when it comes to finding good centric fics for literally ANY other character. No hate to y'all wild lovers out there, but as a wars fan, good angst for this man is like a delicacy. I love wild when he acts like how he does in the comics, a little chaotic but still mature. Y'all don't have to hate him I sure don't, but there are so many missed opportunities yall dont use over something that's arguably been done a million times.

im fully expecting the show to go the way of the movies. it doesnt help Sea of Monsters is almost unanimously the least favorite book of the first series. People frequently forget it even exists or what happens in it, especially more casual fans.

Heck, just look at how little fanfare the second season has gotten so far as compared to the build up to s1. I wouldn't be surprised if s2 totally flops. It would be a little funny.

"jentry did kit dirty!" oh no teenage girl reacts to a centuries old demon who attempted to prey and take advantage of her for her powers, reflecting the same demons traumatizing her for weeks when approaching her for the same intentions, by deciding to do a bit of manipulation because its harder for her to fully internalize that he is a complex individual that is different from the many other demons giving her hell & trauma by being capable of not wanting to do mind games or violence to her or feeling genuine emotion that isn't just a ploy to approach her for her powers, and decides to reject him because he invades her boundaries and is a reminder of the demons trying to traumatize her. oh no teenage girl reacting in an understandable and even valid way in context of the trauma she's going through is bad! most tired take of the week.

as someone who loves safield immensely ( and is a firm believer that those two were in love with each other in game ), i will say that i actually agree with safi not being a love interest in de? honestly, i think explicitly heavy handed romance scenes would’ve dampened so much of what makes them special in my eyes … mainly because them loving each other so entirely speaks more volumes than if the game made a specific turn towards romantic or platonic affection? like, safield thrives in de without a specific label and while existing in that ‘are they?’ dichotomy. and, on the other hand, i just can’t think of any way they could’ve made a safi romance arc work with max’s and safi’s character directions. safi was always going to leave at the end and max was always going to stay. and, on top of that, as much as they both care for each other, there were many things standing in their way : themselves, other people … their respective ghosts. i much prefer safield being a slowburn in the sense that safi would become a romance option later on, as it gives safi and max room to breathe with other charactera and to find themselves more.

plus, lets be honest, safi’s plot would feel cluttered as all hell if they added a romance plotline on top of it ( my girls were already dealing with a lot, i genuinely cannot comprehend them acting upon their feelings in game ).

“it’s their show” and “it’s an adaptation” don’t both get to be used to defend tlovm’s weaker choices btw. either it’s just their show (that the cast has explicitly said one of their favourite parts of tlovm is doing it for the fans and seeing reactions — notably different than the campaigns which are For Them) or it’s a story they are trying to tell in a different medium while maintaining the things that made it poignant and significant to an audience in the first place. and, uh, i think the problems i see in tlovm is literally that the show seems to be trying to thread the needle of both of these and it’s failing. truly. i need you to choose one and commit to it. make it just your show and write the version of the story you most want to see or start making more compelling and consistent writing choices. one. i might suggest in a show committed to 7 main characters, is giving all of them depth, given that every person i’ve spoken to who hasn’t seen the campaign and watched the show has told me how they think the characters aren’t always strongly written and the pace is weird and that there are many things that get touched on with characters and their arcs that are interesting but do not have enough depth. i think tlovm has great entertainment value. i think it’s depth as a cohesive story about a party of adventures turned found family is a bit more questionable (which is unfortunate given its title). i don’t need the campaign in animated form, but if interviews are going to consistently reference wanting to appeal to og fans while bringing in new ones, paying attention to what actually kept people watching 4 hours of occasionally meandering plots and long dnd initiatives every week might be a better guiding point than the shock and surprise they have frequently cited in interviews. and obviously that varies from person to person, but one of the most significant strengths of a table of actors playing dnd was, surprise surprise, the characters and their interactions.

Nene’s Dead Corpse and her ghost bf

Anyway I’m a biomed class where unit 1 is studying medical investigations forensic science style

and one of the things is like, what happens to a person after the body has been dead for a while (post mortem or sum, see im learning :D)

Things like algor mortis, livor mortis, I’ve heard of. In fact I’ve even studied the clouding of the corneas before, but it never got to me till today

maybe it’s cause I cannot for the life of me study forensics without my wild imagination giving me nightmares or just panicking when I’m alone but aNyWays

I tend to imagine characters associated with death in these scenarios so I don’t lose it in class💀

So as I was taking notes on the slideshow, some of the images of clouded corneas reminded me strangely of something familiar, but at that point I couldn’t tell. There’s something haunting about the eyes (or maybe it’s just my over-analytical brain loving small details like this) they’re GORGEOUS

no reflection, no emotion…nothing (which is so hauntingly beautiful leave me alone I’m a sucker for this now)

it’s literally just an eye with nothing but color

and then it hit me…it’s exactly the look Nene had when Mirai fast-forwarded her time

you can see in the image it’s just her plain magenta eyes with a fuzzy de-saturated blob in the center…aka clouded corneas

And that honestly made me realize that in this scene she’s not—she’s not even unconscious

No she’s literally, physiologically dead

THAT IS A CORPSE HE IS HOLDING

she is literally a dead body this hits me so hard😭😭

and I can imagine algor mortis kicked in by then, her body was probably cold to the touch

so imagine how he felt, and I’m aware people have analyzed his emotions but just think about it

he’s always seen her so full of life and hope, and now all he has left is an empty shell of her, cold and dead with no life left inside

…just like him

the more I think about it Hanako is just an animated corpse

he has no reflection in his eyes most of the time because he is ✨dead✨

I mean Mei, Mitsuba, and Hanako don’t have a little white reflection dot like Nene and Kou

Or maybe I’m overthinking it and Nene’s eyes are just super reflective

even for someone who presumably took his own life, he probably never saw tsukasa’s body start postmortem and actually feel dead bc it looked extremely bloody ngl (I’m guessing he killed himself right after 💔)

and now he’s holding someone he cares about like this for the first time and I’ll bet that scarred him

and he figured out that never, never ever did he ever want to see his sweet assistant like this again, lifeless in his arms

and so after that, cue Hanako in his villain era who basically became a yandere the entire picture perfect lmao

and he was unbelievably adamant about it too

I mean honestly if I held anybody I knew lifeless like that I’d be scarred for life and crying for days

seeing the light drained from someone’s eyes is so interestingly sad to me
