TAG GAME

I thought this looked super fun when other people were filling it out so thanks for the tag, @impossiblefangirl0632! I’ve seen people reblog OR copy the questions into the new post - I will just do a new one for the sake of neatness. :)  

Favorite time of the year: Probably October/November because the weather is so nice then (I live in the US, in Texas) and I also have more days off from work during that time so it’s just more relaxing in general. Once we reach the beginning of December, though, the leadup to Christmas becomes stressful since I have a big family. WAY too many people to buy presents for, lol. 

Comfort food: Homemade spaghetti! Also, Lifesaver gummies, for some reason. 

Do you collect something: I collect a few different things! I’ve cooled on the habit a little but I have a pretty substantial collection of Disney pins (my two main collections are Nightmare Before Christmas and Tiana from Princess & The Frog). It’s also pretty cool because some of my pins have risen a LOT in value over the past few years, including one that’s easily worth over $1,000 now. I mostly like to collect pins with unique art, like older-style pins from Disney Auctions (RIP, does not exist any longer.)

(Sometimes, I’m like “I should buy some Encanto pins” but that’s difficult because NONE OF THE RELEASED ENCANTO PINS ARE INTERESTING AT ALL AND IT MAKES ME SAD. Part of me wishes this movie had come out earlier so it could have some really beautiful pins with unique artwork like Nightmare Before Christmas does, waaah. Maybe one day! I’m keeping an eye out.) 

I also collect a lot of figures that come in blind boxes, especially one specific set of characters named Bobo & Coco. Look them up, they’re so adorably silly and I can’t get enough. 

Favorite drink: I drink a hazelnut latte every day of my life or I am incapable of functioning (yes, it IS an expensive habit, thank you for noticing). Other than that, I love orange juice and and consume a LOT of sparkling flavored water. 

Current favorite song: Hmm, I don’t have a favorite, but the three songs I probably listen to the most right now are:

(I honestly just let Spotify take me down the algorithm loophole when it comes to finding new music.) 

Favorite song: THIS IS TOO HARD but my favorite ALBUM of all time is probably Inland Territory by Vienna Teng. Basically just anything Vienna Teng has ever done is my favorite, so much of her music makes me cry like no other. 

I am so delayed in doing this that I honestly think everyone I follow already filled it out. If you’re following me and you’d like to do, please go ahead! Reading the answers has been really interesting!

I wanted to write a long post about why I liked 1502 but soon after the episode aired, I got my period and you can kiss my train of thought goodbye for a week. 

Essentially, I really liked the episode. There were one or two things I didn’t gravitate to, but I am not damning the episode because of it. 

*I will state my bias here: I am a show positive person. My main motto with any show I watch is “go with the flow of the show”.

Sometimes I feel like bucklemming episodes really do have people watching who are expecting to find bad things, so sometimes, the good pass right on by. Are they the strongest writers in the land? No. 

Over time, I likened it to when people lose someone in a sea of people like a fair or a train station. You know they’re wearing a green shirt, so your eyes start pinging to every green shirt in the crowd around you. But, if your friend decided to put on a jacket, or take their color off (say it was a cardigan or something) you’re going to miss them. 

Not saying all bucklemming episodes have been Emmy worthy -- of course not. But they aren’t hopeless cases either. However, if that’s your opinion, that’s your opinion! I also always say if everyone watched the same way, Fandom would be very boring. This post is mostly for people out there I’ve seen and who I have spoken to over time who don’t mind bucklemming episodes. 

And I’ve seen a lot of people this time actually voice a liking for 1502 on here which is nice! 

I liked 1502 because it gave us more information. Not on the ghosts or anything -- well, some on the ghosts but others and I have determined the ghosts are a pink herring (read the reblog additions! There’s a few and they are all fantastic)

I also enjoyed Dean’s existential crisis, which do to some spoilers (particularly in PR) that it will last several episodes. There’s the sneaking suspicion that the Dean/Cas conversation wasn’t actually written by bucklemming (Brad) but instead Dabb or Bobo or both. I”m down for anyone really writing it, I don’t really care who did in the end, I just know it’ll follow them both into episode 3. I don’t know to what intensity, but the crisis will definitely follow Dean. 

I also enjoyed seeing Amara. Some have said her character felt OOC in some regards, but, to me, that was completely on purpose. She’s not who we last saw her as. She’s found a love for humanity, and she’s learned to stand up to her brother. That made me happy. There’s more comprehensible meta on that, which I don’t have on hand at the moment, but the point is, I do love how she was written. 

I also loved seeing the response of The Wound, how it really is connected to Sam in a way that’s going to cause issues. Seeing God/Chuck also powered down to the point he is where he’s essentially trapped in the hellscape he created is, to me, wonderful. 

One thing that occurred to me is that TFW don’t understand that God is that powered down. Dean still thinks God’s around (which won’t do well for his paranoia and existential issues) while Sam thinks he’s fucked off. Well, he’s less powerful than he was and he’s actually yes, still around. I can’t wait to see what he’s going to try and do in the coming episodes. 

Going back to the Ghosts, 1502 only drove home to me, even more, the point that the ghosts aren’t meant to be scary, aren’t really the problem -- they’re only the current problem because they’re there but like @postmodernmulticoloredcloak mentioned, it’s a re-hashed storyline from God who doesn’t pay attention to his own characters. Very meta. Very fun. 

I also liked the knowledge that Kevin was sent to hell and not heaven, setting up that thought that God really is cruel. Some people questioned the “he can’t go to heaven because he’s been to hell”, but, it makes sense to me -- Dean went to heaven (along with Sam) because Zachariah wanted them there. God was taking the back seat on that one, Zach and Michael and all those lovely assholes were running the show so they had the power to do that. 

Bobby got to go to Heaven because Naomi was in charge at the time as well. 

But, by the time Kevin’s turn came around to go to Heaven, God had him in his grips, and God lied because writers lie and shoved the Prophet down to hell. Now, there’s no one in Heaven really calling the shots at all -- but God’s back! So! God won’t let Kevin back. There’s no skirting around the rules for that kid. 

Also just more Bel goodies -- and I do like the line they gave Ketch of “He’s a threat to humanity”. A little overt, but still significant. 

A lot of people I know didn’t understand the need for Ketch in this episode and I had to think about it as well. But, my conclusion became: Characters are allowed to exist to boost other characters only. Ketch wasn’t needed OTHER for the demonstration of things: The foreboding line about Bel, the fact that Rowena’s ghost snatcher toy wasn’t going to nab everyone, and that Cas was slowly beginning to lose his ability to heal -- given that Ketch still had to be loaded into an ambulance. 

Some people wondered why now Cas’s powers are being affected with God injured and depowered when they were seemingly unaffected during 11 when God was getting fucked up as well. 

I have to rewatch season 11 which isn’t going to happen now, so I’m going to purposefully ignore that and go with the flow of the show. 

So that I think scraped the surface of why I liked --

oh WAIT we never dove into the Dean/Cas scene huh?

Well, it’s been meta’d to death and basically all you need to know from me is:

1) Dean’s existential crisis coming into the light

2) “We Are” to me, was very much hinting at him and Dean but was still nervous to outright say it so he covered himself with a more vague word choice. But it was very very much about only them. 

3) This lovely meta about Dean’s interaction with Sam vs Cas (again, thank you @postmodernmulticoloredcloak and also @mittensmorgul!) 

That scene will be analyzed to death and will also be, I assume, furthered analyzed after Thursday’s 1503 and whatever that will bring. 

...so yeah this is messy

but

I liked 1502, and I 99% of the time really honestly enjoy bucklemming episodes for what I can extrapolate out of them.
