Comic: Batman In Darkest Night

Context: The rings of the seven lantern troops duplicated themselves and sought new people to wield them. Scarecrow, due to his great ability to spread terror, was chosen by the yellow ring to become a member of the Sinestro Corps. The yellow ring gave Jonathan the possibility of feeling fear again, which left him ecstatic with joy.

Listen, I have a lot of free time and doodling my Jonathan is a lot of fun XD

So, if you been keeping up with me or just seen my random ramblings from time to time, or have no idea what I'm talking about

My Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow, is in fact a Yellow Lantern

Happened in the comics and I just really love it, because the idea of Jonathan getting power of imagination based on FEAR would be a recipe for disaster

So, that's why I'm giving it to mine, who has a god complex and gets drunk on power super easily!

Anyway, my Jonathan gets the ring during a big crisis that was happening between the lanterns

Without hesitation, just started to go on a fear inducing rampage and gave everyone nightmares for days on end. Turns out combining fear toxin and the yellow ring gave disasterous results, and Jonathan couldn't be happier

Except Jervis, he was the only exception during his entire rampage

After that, he (and Jervis against his will) are taken to Qward and that's when they're swept into the Sinestro Corps' battle!

I'll share more of the story later, but all you have to know is that once the great crisis was dealt with, Jonathan and Jervis are sent back to Earth with a now depowered ring which will reactivate whenever the Sinestro corps need him

But for now, Jonathan mourns on not getting to use the yellow ring whenever he wants

I know addressing the actual continuity of a buncha people having gotten latern rigns is a dangerous prospect and everybody kinda has to stay in their own corners for the DC universe to not fall down the slippery slope into hypderdense drama singularity, but I really wish there had been some precedent set for Johnathan Crane showing up in Coast City to like bang on Hal's door and demand he send him to space and/or call Sinestro to earth because he doesn't want to fight he just wants to have a little talk...

Because Crane having touched some kind primordial/aeatheric/cosmic fear elemental should be a truly addictive high that he should be chasing for the rest of his life. All the messy, clumsy chemical and biological meat based transmission medium for fear just pales in comparison to having the raw unfiltered fear energy just beamed right into your very mind and soul. The man could shape fear with his mind for a glorious golden minute and now he has to settle for going back to concocting chemical formulae and weaponizing agents and vectors to induce phisiological responses that maybe can trick the brain and abstract perception of reality into something resembling the specific, deeply personal fear of any/every random victim? He glimpsed the luxury and intoxicating power of a better method and had it stripped from him, he should be damn near ready to do almost anything to get that fucking ring back...
