Yasuaki Shimizu 清水靖晃's "Kakashi" has been a shop favourite amongst the plethora of modern Japanese re-issues, and easily one of our most requested titles over the past few years. The Mariah member's 1982 solo LP delivers a unique blend of left-field electronica, smooth exploratory jazz and ambient dub, making it a stand-out of early 80's Japanese experimentalism (along with the aforementioned Mariah's 1983 "Utakata No Hibi") Palto Flats are continuing the Shimizu re-issue series with "Kiren" - the unreleased 1984 follow-up to Kakashi, now seeing the light day for the first time nearly 40 years later! Kiren is Yasuaki Shimizu's work for experimental dance music.
