Genius - All I Want
Cairo Sweet x female (G!P) Reader
Summary: It was such a cliché, a reunion she didn’t expect to ever happen, let alone six years after she last saw you. It was supposed to mean nothing, a bit of nostalgia, maybe a brief catching up while waiting for class, it was supposed to be a small wave of nostalgia, not a tsunami that disrupted her entire life. You were her opposite, and as hard as she tried she couldn’t resist your pull.

-All I want is a place to call my own, to mend the hearts of everyone who feels alone-
There was nothing quite as comforting as the freedom of an open road and the clear night sky above you. It was peaceful, though lonely sometimes.
“Well, you’re still as creepy as you were when I was a child,” you said as you watched the dense forest covering the hill ahead of you. Lovell Hill certainly didn’t get any more inviting since you last visited the forsaken small village you were born in. And it certainly didn’t look any more inviting in the middle of the night, close to midnight.
At least you didn’t have to go on foot.
That would be kinda scary, even now that you were technically an adult. At least as far as age went, yeah, you were an adult. You hardly had the life experience needed to call yourself that, though you did spend the last two years away from your parents and the safety they provided. You turned sixteen and took off on your Yamaha Star Venture, staying at one place only long enough to finish one semester at school and then moving on.
Why did you suddenly decide to come back? To this small village in Tennessee? You weren’t sure, maybe it was nostalgia, maybe you wanted to come back and see how much you changed, to measure yourself to the place that shaped your childhood, now with a different outlook on life. Like a frog from a well that learned of the ocean and yearned for the calm of its well, at least for a short while, at least until you closed the chapter of your life called high school.
The road ahead of you narrowed as you entered the dense forest, the sky above you vanished, and the only source of light came from your motorcycle. How long has it been since you ran through this forest as a child, playing hide and seek without a care in the world, without any pressure, creeped out by the random sounds and shadows, but happy to be with your friend. That was so long ago, you weren’t even going to school back then.
As you drove on you saw the lights ahead of you, and you knew exactly what they were. A lone light coming from one room of a huge mansion, the only one on the hill that was still occupied back when you still lived here. From the looks of it that didn’t change. You didn’t look at the mansion though, you just drove past it. The only person you’d be interested in seeing from that mansion probably no longer lived there. She was too good to be stuck in this small village. You remained unaware that someone in that mansion caught a glimpse of you riding by, confused and intrigued by the random person passing by.
~X~
The random biker passing through the Lovell Hill reignited her muse as her fingers glided across her keyboard. Where were they going? Where did they come from? What made them take the road few traveled? Cairo didn’t know, but she liked to imagine the strange traveler. Perhaps they were familiar with the area, confident in their ability to take a shortcut across the hill. Or perhaps they took a wrong turn and she’d soon hear the roar of the engine coming back.
Maybe it would wake her up when she finally tries to fall asleep.
Lonely girl, in a lonely place, longing for some kind of connection, for more than she already had, even if it was just a moment, she’d forget sooner rather than later. She still typed away, contemplating the biker’s decision to pass through the haunting dense forest, all the while feeling the tiny legs crawling up her bare calf. The cigarette she lit just before she picked up on the sound of the motorcycle slowly burned away, forgotten just like she was.
~X~
You parked your motorcycle in the garage, next to your parents’ car and took a deep breath. You were back home, because, truly, nowhere else ever felt as much like home as rural Tennessee. It’s been six years since you moved out with your parents, but they kept the house, kept it clean and took care of the car so everything was set for them when they visited to escape their jobs every few months or so.
It wasn’t a huge mansion, especially compared to the one you just passed, but it was a fairly big, two-story house, with several bedrooms and plenty of space in the living room, as well as a very nice, well-furnished kitchen. The pictures were still hanging on the walls as you stepped inside and took your boots off. Some were from your birthdays, some from your first day at school, some were you and Cairo, or her parents and your parents. They were all attorneys, so of course you and Cairo ended up spending a lot of time together as kids. Well, you did until you started going to school. You placed the backpack you packed your entire life in on the floor of the living room, and a bit too exhausted to go and set up a bed in your childhood room, you just crashed on the sofa and used your motorbike jacket as makeshift cover.
The house still had an admirable book collection, mostly for show though. You read as a child, there wasn’t much else to do here, but most of the books were just bought for show, never to be opened. But, they were there and they gave the house a certain aesthetic, you guessed.
As you looked at the books you noticed an old copy of ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’ by Jules Verne sticking out like a sore thumb with the damaged and stained spine separating it from the well-kept pristine condition of most of the books around it. How many times did you and Cairo read that as children? You smiled at that, promising silently to get the spine fixed up a bit. Just enough for it not to fall apart the next time someone took it, but not to the point of downright replacing it. You wanted to preserve the memories, but that was a task for another day. For now, you just closed your eyes and drifted off,
~X~
Two days later you found yourself in the vice principal’s office, just filling out the last few papers to finalize your transfer.
“You can attend classes right away, miss L/N,” vice principal Manor told you as you signed the final document.
“Right, and the locker?” you asked, ready to put away your helmet and not carry it around at all times.
The woman just slid a key toward you with a copy of your schedule. “Here you go.”
You nodded, smiling gratefully and getting up with your copies of the documents and the things your were given in hand.
“Oh, and welcome back,” vice principal told you.
She knew your parents, as they were very active in the community while they still lived here. It was the connections they still had that allowed you to make such an abrupt decision and transfer on such a short notice.
“Thanks, I appreciate it,” you still found it a bit awkward when people much older than you acted friendly toward you because of your parents. You understood, but you also felt they only saw your parents’ child, and not you yourself.
“Say ‘hi’ to your parents for me,” vice principal Manor justified your feelings on the matter.
You just chuckled lightly at that. “Of course. Have a good day,” you said politely while stepping out of her office.
You and your parents had a good relationship, you loved them, they loved you. You often talked to them over the phone, and you texted at least one of them almost daily. You didn’t see much of them though, you wanted independence and they were more than willing to give you a chance to experience life on your own, all the while making sure you knew you could turn to them if you ever needed. And you were more than happy with that.
You checked the tag on the locker key and looked around, searching for it in the hall, it wasn’t a huge school, so it wasn’t too hard to find. The almost empty hallway was a bit haunting, though, you did get here early thinking paperwork would take longer to sort out. Finally, you did find your locker, not too far from another girl that came early.
Perhaps it was the abrupt way you stopped when you noticed the number on your tag, or maybe it was your jacket and boots, but the girl looked at you.
“We don’t get new students that often,” she commented, her raspy voice catching your attention immediately.
“I better not disappoint then,” you opened the locker and placed your helmet inside. You’d have to go and pick up your books and other things you might need later. Why did you sign up for a literature class again? Oh yeah, you wanted to reignite your passion for reading after all these years.
You could feel her eyes looking you over. “Need help finding your first class?”
“Thanks,” you grinned, meeting her eyes and taking in the way she was dressed. “I like to figure new places out myself, but I appreciate the offer,” you really did, both actually. If you got lost, well, you could find your way out, again, it wasn’t that big of a school. You found your locker just fine, surely you could find a classroom.
“Well, see you around, stranger,” she winked and walked away. “I’m Winnie, by the way!” she exclaimed once she put some distance between you two.
“Y/N!” you answered and went in the opposite direction. It would be a bit awkward if you went the same way when you just rejected her offer to help you find the classroom you were supposed to go to for your first class.
~X~
The next time you saw Winnie it was less than ten minutes later, and this time she was accompanied by a shorter, black-haired girl, you didn’t pay much attention to the though, too focused on finding the classroom you needed to go to.
“Still don’t need help?” she asked as you crossed paths.
“Still no, I’ll be sure to cry for help if needed,” you joked earning a small laugh from he girls, and somehow the laughter you heard sounded familiar. A bit shy and reserved, but soft, but by the time you fully registered the familiarity of the sound the girl with Winnie was too far for you to call her.
It couldn’t be… Right?
Why would it be her? For once maybe you were wrong. Maybe being back in this place made you hear what wasn’t there.
Even if it was, well, you had half a year to come across her again.
Finally, you found the classroom you were looking for and were immediately hit by words you did not expect to hear, especially not in school, in a classroom, read loudly by a middle-aged larger male to at least slightly older man.
“Marcelle wants me to fuck her. She leaps off the couch and pushes herself between the girl and me,” the taller one, dressed in a more comfortable gray tracksuit, perhaps a PE teacher, read.
You weren’t sure how to react as the older man tried to make his colleague stop reading… well, not exactly the material you were expecting. You just entered the classroom, hoping that would be enough to get their attention. It wasn’t and you wanted to erase the ‘split fig’ line from your memory, alas, you were cursed! For you memorized what you heard like a damn recorder. Split fig would remain in your memory likely until something even more jarring replaced it.
You nearly walked out, not wanting to witness any more of this when they began going through student’s things, and that was a line you didn’t like being crossed. The student left that there trusting it wouldn’t be touched, it was private, and they had no business looking through someone’s stuff.
“Well, this is an interesting first impression,” you said without a care in the world making the two men freeze and turn to look at you. “Guess I found the literature class. Good morning, by the way,” you checked the doors again and sure enough, this was the classroom. Not that you needed to check again. Between the books on the shelves, framed pictures of famous writers, general feel of the room as well as everything written on the blackboard there was no doubt in your mind you were in the right place.
The man you guessed was the literature teacher at least had the decency to look ashamed. “Uh, good morning, are you here for the class?”
You nodded, taking a chair along and setting it next to the one where the pile of books was. “Sure, I was going to leave my stuff here, but,” you glanced at the teacher who was now next to you and then at the book in his hand that belonged back on the pile. “Maybe that’s not the smartest decision.”
You weren’t even subtle about it as you leaned back on your chair and pulled out your phone. “Don’t mind me, just passing the time until class starts,” you said, fiddling with your phone in the process.
“This isn’t how we usually are,” the teacher grabbed the book out of his colleague’s hand and placed it back where it belonged. “The school year just started, and Boris might be a bit too excited.”
You raised an eyebrow at that. “I noticed,” you said, briefly shifting your attention to the book the teacher, now named Boris, was reading out loud.
The man next to you quickly raised his hands. “Not that kind of excited, just so we’re clear!”
You just gave him a thumbs up and turned back to your phone. Things might be a bit awkward from now on, but you could live with that.
~X~
Almost an hour of awkward silence broken briefly only by the teacher, Miller, giving you a list of all the books the class was meant to cover later, the students began coming in. The school kinda came to life about ten minutes ago, as more and more students rushed through the halls to their first classes. You hoped your motorcycle was still fine, the first few days at a new, well old but kinda new in this case, place were always a bit worrisome in that regard. You’d cross that bridge when you get there, if it needed to be crossed in the first place. And then, sure enough, one of the students, a girl dressed in black sweater and white shorts sat down next to you.
“I haven’t seen you around, you must be new,” she said as she settled down and opened her notebook.
Again, her voice sounded vaguely familiar, as if you used to listen to it so often as a child but then it changed as she grew up and now only some familiarity remained. Just a small hint here and there to remind you that maybe you did, in fact, know her. Which wouldn’t be surprising, they were all your age, and it was a small village, and if you remembered correctly there were three classes in your generation. Or was it four? Either way, chances were you knew at least some of your current classmates. “Yeah, hi, I’m-“ you turned to look at the girl so you could introduce yourself and your breath hitched.
She raised an eyebrow, puzzled by your reaction. She didn’t change one bit, well, sure, she wasn’t a kid anymore, but you knew exactly who the girl standing in front of you was. Her dark long hair, flowing and framing her freckle-covered face, the soft, curious eyes studying you and an easy, friendly smile, and the adorable dimples on her cheeks. There was no way you could ever forget her, and the pile of books only confirmed your suspicions. As stupid as it was, you were genuinely surprised. You saw the lights on your way back home, though you just assumed it was her parents, not her. Why was she still in this small village? Why wasn’t she out there, making the most of the potential she had? You expected to see familiar faces, but you thought you wouldn’t get to see her again, and your heart raced as fast as your motorcycle through an open road.
“Are you okay?” she asked softly, and you felt two more pairs of eyes on you now that you remained silent for too long. The teacher, as well as the girl she was with were looking at you as well, but it hardly mattered.
“I, yeah, I’m fine, Cairo,” you finally pushed the words through your dry throat. You swallowed, getting over your surprise and smiling at her as her eyes widened. “It’s been a while.” She took a better look at you, and you saw recognition in her eyes as she took your appearance in. You couldn’t blame her for taking a bit of time to recognize you, you changed a bit since she last saw you. “Y/N,” she finally said your name, though with a hint of uncertainty in her tone, and you nodded, the somewhat shy smile on your face turning into a more confident, cheeky grin. She remembered you, and while you didn’t expect to see her you couldn’t hide how happy you were. You just hoped the way the two of you left things off all those years ago wouldn’t be an obstacle to catch up at least over a coffee or tea or something.
A/N: Well, here's the start of the next story. Enjoy! Also... Taglist? Yes? No?

The first time I actually saw Vale was at a gala in Barcelona for the Sport Awards sponsored by IWC. I was the only journalist in a tuxedo. The editor-in-chief of Donna Moderna had told me to try to snag an interview with him on the sly. So, I kept my eyes on him all night, and when he got up to chat with some friends and Arianna, his girlfriend at the time, I slipped into the group and asked him a question. He turned to me, laughing, and asked, “Who are you?” A journalist, I replied. I was just starting out, a bit naive, thinking of being a journalist as some kind of status. Not for Valentino, though: “Then I’m not talking to you.” He turned away and completely ignored me. End of story.
Then I joined Riders, even though I knew next to nothing about motorcycles. So, I started studying. And only then did everything start to connect for me: his decision to switch to Yamaha to prove he was the best, even without Honda, his rivalry with Biaggi, the tax controversies, his comeback victories, and the antics to celebrate them—all of it was already framing a legend, an incredible story. That’s when I got the idea to dedicate a cover to him and his father, Graziano. They’d only been interviewed together once before, and it hadn’t gone well. I was sure mine would be a hit. We set it up. I interviewed Vale and Graziano separately. I spent nearly four hours with Graziano in the Yamaha hospitality and had 15 minutes with Vale in a small office in the same place. Was I nervous before meeting him? I remember I was—very much so. At the end of the interview, I suggested he pose nude, embracing his motorcycle, both of them lying down, shot from above, inspired by that famous photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. He replied that, no, he’d never do it nude. And then he left. I was left with the impression that he had no real sense of the legendary status he held or of the power his story already had. I liked that, honestly—it made him feel more relatable. Someone you could talk to about Inter and girls, and nothing else.
I reentered Vale’s world when we arranged an interview with Uccio. Uccio was his personal assistant back then; now he’s in charge of the VR46 Academy. In those days, he also drove the motorhome. We agreed to do the interview on the road, so we met outside Milan, and I joined him for the drive to Barcelona. Uccio struck me as a bit of an enigma—a tough guy, not one to warm up easily. We spent the journey listening to Vasco and Cremonini, chatting, and smoking. Vale called him only once, just to ask when his Nike sneakers would arrive. Uccio said to me, “Do you know how many people would like to please Valentino?” Uccio, who calls him “il Capo,” Uccio who, at one point, sang out loud against the windshield to Cremonini’s song PadreMadre: “Padre, occhi gialli e stanchi, cerca ancora coi tuoi proverbi a illuminarmi…”
After reading the interview, Uccio crossed paths with me in the paddock and simply said, “Nice article. Nice.” Then he walked back into hospitality. Only later did I understand that giving that compliment, with the way he is, had cost him a lot.
In the meantime, I got a call from Gabriele Romagnoli, one of Italy’s finest journalists—narrative and romantic. He called me to Rome, and over coffee in a fading bar, he proposed I write a book about Rossi for the publishing house 66thand2nd. The idea was to portray Vale in the aftermath of the accident with Simoncelli. A story of human tragedy and novel-like fate. Life and destiny. The book never came to be. I’d wake up at 5 every morning, writing from 5:30 to 8:30, but what I wrote lacked truth. I wasn’t deep enough into Vale’s mind to pull it off, and the more I wrote, the more I realized that he was slipping through my grasp.
In an attempt to understand him, I even sought advice from an astrologer, Chiara Viola. She told me, “Of course he eludes you—you’re used to seeking the meaning of things in depth. Vale doesn’t even question the meaning of things. He just lives. You’re vertical, he’s horizontal. You live in the past and the future; he seems superficial, but in reality, he’s a constant present.” That description helped me more than anything else in understanding how Valentino overcame everything, especially Marco’s death. And today, as I see him calmly approaching the moment of his last race, I recall that phrase.
What luck I’ve had. What luck we’ve all had to have you, Vale. Luck for those who stood by you every day, for those who admired you only on TV or in the papers, for those who commented on you, interviewed you, and even for those who never missed a chance to give you a hard time. What luck we’ve had. To experience you, to grow up with you. Because that’s exactly what it’s been about. To rejoice and despair with you. Yes, what luck. Today an era ends. A generation comes to a close. It’s been splendid. And that, dear Vale, no one can ever take from us. No one. Ever.

Chapter 1
As she stood there, the thrumming pulse of the Ferrari reverberated through the asphalt, sending subtle vibrations up through the soles of her shoes. It was a sensory experience, feeling the raw power of the sports car resonate in the ground beneath her, almost as if it were alive.
Impulsively, she turned her head to the side, her curiosity piqued by the familiar rumble. Her gaze landed on the sleek lines of the Ferrari, its glossy exterior catching the sunlight in a dazzling display. And there, behind the wheel, was a figure that exuded an air of confidence and charisma.
The Spaniard seemed engrossed in inspecting her motorcycle, his keen eyes scanning over every detail with a discerning gaze. It was a moment of unexpected connection, two individuals brought together by their mutual appreciation for the machines they rode.
With a casual wave, she acknowledged his presence, the gesture a simple yet genuine expression of goodwill. In that moment, she didn't dwell on the significance of the encounter, merely allowing herself to be swept up in the rhythm of the city streets.
As the light finally shifted to green, she smoothly accelerated, the engine of her motorcycle roaring to life as she merged onto the highway. Unbeknownst to her, Carlos, drawn by the allure of the chase, followed suit, his Ferrari seamlessly blending into the flow of traffic as he pursued her.
What ensued was a thrilling game of cat and mouse, each manoeuvring through lanes with precision and skill, their vehicles dancing in harmony with the rhythm of the road. With every twist and turn, they pushed the limits of speed and control, the adrenaline coursing through their veins fueling their determination.
In her mirrors, she caught glimpses of the sleek Ferrari gaining ground, the distance between them shrinking with each passing moment. It was an exhilarating pursuit, the thrill of the chase igniting a competitive fire within her.
And then, in a daring move, Carlos surged ahead, the Ferrari darting past her with effortless grace. In that moment, a surge of determination washed over her, igniting a fierce resolve to reclaim the lead.
With unwavering focus, she pushed her motorcycle to its limits, the wind whipping against her as she chased after him, the highway stretching out before them like an endless ribbon of asphalt.
After a heart-pounding ten-minute exchange of speed and strategy, she made the split-second decision to veer off the highway, her sights set on the nearest gas station. It was a calculated move, a chance to catch her breath and regroup after the exhilarating pursuit.
As Carlos pursued her off the highway, the rush of adrenaline coursing through his veins was unlike anything he had experienced on the racetrack. As a seasoned Formula 1 driver, he was accustomed to the thrill of high-speed races, the precision of every turn and manoeuvre ingrained in his muscle memory.
But this... this was different. The chase, the unpredictability, the sheer exhilaration of the moment stirred something deep within him, reigniting a passion that had lain dormant for far too long. Behind the wheel of his Ferrari, he felt alive, every twist and turn of the road awakening his senses in a way that no race ever could.
Gone was the familiar routine of the racetrack, replaced instead by the raw excitement of the open road. Here, there were no rules, no boundaries—just the exhilarating rush of speed and the thrill of the chase.
As he followed her into the unknown, a sense of liberation washed over him, the weight of expectations and obligations fading into the background. In this moment, there was only him, the road, and the enigmatic figure ahead—a tantalising mystery waiting to be unravelled.
For Carlos, this impromptu pursuit was a welcome departure from the structured world of Formula 1, a reminder of the pure joy that came from simply letting go and embracing the thrill of the ride.
As she sat astride her motorcycle, preparing to refuel, the familiar hum of the gas station's pumps reverberated through the ground beneath her. Turning slightly, she caught sight of the sleek Ferrari gliding into the station, pulling up to the pump behind her with a quiet confidence.
With practised ease, she dismounted her bike, the rumble of the engine fading into the background as she focused on the task at hand. As she began to pump gas into her tank, she felt his eyes on her, the weight of his gaze lingering like a tangible presence.
Carlos, unable to resist the magnetic pull of curiosity, stepped out of his Ferrari, his movements graceful and deliberate. Though he tried to appear nonchalant, his stolen glances betrayed a deep-seated intrigue, an unspoken desire to learn more about the enigmatic figure before him.
As she continued with the task of refuelling, she sensed his presence lingering nearby, his gaze never straying far from her. And then, in a moment of quiet confidence, she reached up and removed her helmet, revealing the face that had captured his attention.
With a fluid motion, she released her two plaits from beneath her jacket, the cascading strands of hair framing her features like a halo in the soft light of the gas station. It was a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes—revealing not just her physical appearance, but also a glimpse of the person behind the helmet, the individual beneath the facade.
A playful smirk tugged at the corners of her lips as she casually placed her helmet on the seat of her motorcycle, her gaze meeting Carlos's with a hint of mischief dancing in her eyes.
“Hey.” She greeted him, the word laced with an easygoing charm that seemed to dissolve the tension between them.
“Hey.” He replied, his voice soft, almost tentative, as he returned her greeting with a shy smile, his eyes lingering on her with a mixture of curiosity and admiration.
A comfortable silence settled between them for a moment, the air tinged with a palpable sense of anticipation. And then, with a casual observation, she broke the ice, her words light and playful.
“Nice car.” She remarked, nodding towards the sleek Ferrari parked behind him, her tone casual yet appreciative.
Carlos's smile widened at her compliment, a faint blush colouring his cheeks as he returned the gesture.
“Nice bike.” He countered, his eyes flickering briefly to the motorcycle beside her with genuine admiration.
With the teasing glint in her eyes, she extended an invitation that hung in the air like an irresistible dare.
“I could take you for a ride.” She teased, her words laced with a playful challenge that dared him to seize the opportunity for adventure.
Carlos chuckled at her teasing remark, a warm smile gracing his lips as he shook his head lightly.
“I'm happy with my four wheels.” He replied, his tone light and playful, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.
She chuckled in response, her laughter a melodic sound that filled the air between them with a sense of camaraderie.
“Too bad, then.” She teased, her words carrying a playful undertone as she finished pumping gas into her motorcycle.
As she replaced the nozzle and secured the gas cap, the moment lingered, suspended in the air like a shared secret between them.
Carlos's curiosity piqued as he took a step closer, his eyes scanning over the sleek lines of her motorcycle with genuine interest.
“What type of bike is it?” He wondered aloud, his curiosity evident in the way he lingered over each detail.
Her heart skipped a beat at the unexpected question, a flush of flustered surprise colouring her cheeks as she fumbled for an answer.
“Oh, this is a Yamaha YZF R6.” She replied, her voice slightly breathless as she struggled to compose herself in the face of his scrutiny. Carlos chuckled at her response, a knowing glint in his eyes as he took in the information.
“Sounds fast.” He remarked with a playful grin, his admiration for her motorcycle evident in his tone.
As he stepped closer to inspect her all-black motorbike, she couldn't help but feel a surge of pride at his genuine interest. It was a rare moment of connection, a shared appreciation for the machines that fueled their passion for the open road.
“I wasn't expecting to see a Ferrari Roma today.” He stated, changing the subject as she removed her gloves, the gesture a subtle invitation to continue their conversation.
Carlos's bafflement at the woman's unexpected knowledge of cars was evident in his tone as he posed the question.
“You know cars, too?” He asked, his curiosity tinged with a hint of admiration for the intellectually captivating woman dressed in full riding gear.
“I like pretty things.” She countered, her words carrying a hint of mystery that only served to deepen Carlos's curiosity. She responded with a sly smile, her eyes sparkling with playful mischief as she offered a simple yet intriguing explanation.
His laughter filled the air, a warm and genuine sound that echoed in the space between them.
“Good to know.” He replied with a grin, his amusement evident as he marvelled at the enigmatic woman before him.
A comfortable silence settled between them for a moment, the air charged with unspoken tension as they lingered in the aftermath of their playful banter. And then, with a boldness that surprised even himself, he seized the opportunity to extend an invitation of his own.
“You don't perhaps fancy going for dinner sometime to tell me more about your... Yamaha XYZ?” He proposed, his tone teasing yet genuine as he met her gaze with a mixture of anticipation and curiosity.
“YZF R6.” She corrected him with a breathy chuckle, her amusement evident as she clarified the name of her motorcycle. Carlos chuckled in response, his tone light and teasing as he acknowledged his lack of knowledge.
“Precisely. I have so much to learn.” He teased, his eyes dancing with playful banter.
But she wasn't one to back down from a challenge, and with a quick-witted retort, she turned the tables on him.
“Depends. Will the nameless man with the Ferrari pick me up too?” She countered, her words laced with a hint of mischief as she playfully tested his manners. Carlos, caught off guard by her boldness, felt a flush of embarrassment colour his cheeks at his oversight.
“The man with the Ferrari most certainly can. His name is Carlos.” He replied, determined to make amends for his earlier oversight. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she met his gaze, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
“Well, Carlos, it sounds like you have a date with Lola.” She remarked with a playful grin, her tone light and inviting.
“Lola?” Carlos repeated, a note of curiosity in his voice as he echoed the name she had given him.
“Technically, it's Louise, but everyone calls me Lola.” She explained, her smile widening at the revelation. Carlos nodded as he retrieved his phone from his pocket and handed it to her.
“Your number, please, Miss Lola.” He insisted.
Carlos's insistence drew a warm smile from Lola as she typed her number into his phone, taking a moment to add a playful touch by including the full descriptor of her bike beside her name. With a chuckle, Carlos accepted his phone back, the corners of his lips perking up at her playful gesture.
“Now you have to remember what kind of bike I ride.” She joked, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she watched him lock his screen and tuck the phone away in his pocket.
“It was lovely meeting you, Lola.” Carlos greeted her warmly, his voice tinged with genuine sincerity. “I'd love to stay and chat, but I need to get to a meeting.”
“Nice meeting you too, Carlos.” Lola nodded in acknowledgment, her smile lingering as she watched him climb into his Ferrari.
With a wink, he pulled out from behind her, the sleek sports car purring to life as it rolled past her, leaving her with a sense of anticipation for the adventure that lay ahead.

Oliver and I went to the brewery for one.
While I was there I noticed a couple in their late 30s. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. When she got up to get another beer he went to the restroom. On the way back he stopped to pet Oliver and tell me about his two dogs.
He also said he was on a first date. I asked how it was going. He replied it was going well. They met via an online dating app, he explained. He's been single for five years after getting divorced.
I have been married 32 years. Dating apps weren't around when I was single, so I'm curious to hear about the connections, whether at the brewery or on Tumblr.
When his date returned he gave Oliver one more good ear rub, which Oliver loved. I wished him well. He gave me a big smile. I was already in a good mood, but that made it better.
Prior to going to the brewery I had a flat tire fixed on my motorcycle. A guy around the corner from me has the same bike I do. We met a few years ago. He's extremely mechanically inclined. The guy installed a supercharger on his Cadillac, and it's run reliably for 100,000 miles since then. That tells me a lot.
He told me he changes motorcycle tires. The other day I got a puncture. Luckily I was close to home and got back to my garage. I called this neighbor. He said he'd be glad to help. So I ordered a new tire online.
This afternoon I limped the bike with my new tire to his house. An hour later my Yamaha was back in action. I paid him. This saved me from either renting a trailer or having a tow truck bring my bike to a dealership to get the flat fixed. There's no way I could have changed a tire myself.
Broken things weigh heavily on my mind at times. With the tire replaced a new sense of calm returned to me.

Adler/Yamaha connection
Heinrich Kleyer was the first to manufacture typewriters in Germany. He started in 1898 in Frankfurt and eventually built his Adler company – German for eagle – into something of an engineering powerhouse. Adler followed typewriters – his revolutionary Model No. 7 acquired legendary status before the word digital ever reached a dictionary - with bicycles, automobiles and motorcycles. Post WW II motor car manufacture was not resumed but in 1949 motorcycle production restarted which soon led to the Adler MB250, a high quality, two-stroke machine whose design features were then given to BSA as part of the Allies' war reparations program; BSA used some of the Adler design concepts in the Ariel Arrow and Leader models. Soon Suzuki and Yamaha took notice, too. Meanwhile Adler focused on all kinds of other office equipment, too is bought by Grundig, merged with the (German) Triumph typewriter company to form Trumf-Adler, then taken over by Olivetti. Motorcycle manufacture ends in 1956. - Classic Motorcycle. (Adler Kaputt! Yamaha bought the Adler factory. Why reinvent the wheel. - rj)
1957: The 250cc twin-cylinder YD-1 is an improved version of another German bike, the Adler.
1958: The first Yamaha motorcycles are sold in the USA by Cooper Motors, an independent distributor. The models are the YD-1 (250cc, 2-stroke, twin-cylinder streetbike) and MF-1 (50cc, 2-stroke, single-cylinder step-through streetbike). (I worked for Cooper Motors, The Royal Enfield distributor - rj)
1959: The YDS-1 mounts a tuned-up version of the YD-1 motor in a double-cradle frame (the earlier version was built on a pressed-steel spine). The YDS-1 establishes the pattern for the next 20 years of sporty Yamaha two-stroke Twins. ((https://www.motorcycle.com/.../history-yamaha-motorcycle...))

Yamaha Celebrates 25th Anniversary of the Revolutionary R1
Yamaha Motor Europe is proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ground-breaking R1 with dedicated activities planned at the Yamaha Racing Experience (YRE). This year the YRE will be held at the legendary Mugello Circuit in Italy on the 21st and 22nd of July and will bring together some of Yamaha's biggest stars and enthusiasts to honour the remarkable legacy of the iconic machine. Since its launch, the Yamaha R1 has redefined standards of performance and innovation in the industry. Its 25-year journey of evolution is a testament to Yamaha's dedication to engineering excellence, which cemented the R1 as an icon of speed, power, and cutting-edge technology that revolutionised the sports bike market. Making its grand entrance in 1998, at the core of the R1 was an innovative, compact, and lightweight 998cc, liquid-cooled, 20-valve, double overhead camshaft, four-cylinder engine which featured a five-valve-per-cylinder head with redesigned valve sizes to boost torque and improved porting. However, the real game-changer came from Project Leader Kunihiko Miwa's ingenious decision to create the world's first vertically stacked gearbox in a production motorcycle, which resulted in a lighter, shorter engine that allowed for a longer swing arm, enhancing traction while maintaining a conventional sports bike wheelbase. In addition to its innovative powertrain, the 1998 R1 introduced an all-new aluminium Deltabox II chassis, a heavily braced alloy swingarm, a Yamaha Monoshock shock absorber, and upside-down 41mm fully adjustable front forks developed in collaboration with Öhlins. This Grand Prix-inspired compact chassis and suspension setup offered unrivalled handling and manoeuvrability, setting a new benchmark for modern sports bikes, with the R1 producing an astonishing 150PS while weighing only 177 kg. The R1's racing success was equally remarkable. At the prestigious Isle of Man TT, the bike made history in 1999 when David Jefferies stormed to the TT Formula One victory, in the process setting a record 121,235 mph lap, before going on to win the Senior race and the Production TT, confirming the R1’s racing pedigree to the world. As Yamaha continued to refine and improve the R1, the 2000 model was launched with revisions to over 250 parts, including engine and chassis enhancements, more aerodynamic bodywork, and a new titanium muffler. Two years later, in 2002, Yamaha introduced the next generation of R1, led by Project Leader Yoshikazu Koike, which showcased a groundbreaking vacuum-controlled fuel injection system that provided refined power output and a new Deltabox III frame which was lighter and yet 30% stronger in torsional rigidity. The year 2004 marked the arrival of the fourth generation R1 featuring new engine with larger bore and shorter stroke and closed-deck cylinder design, as well as fracture-split (FS) connecting rods, RAM-air intake, new under-seat exhausts, revised chassis geometry and a sharpened body design. For the first time a production motorcycle was achieving the 1:1 power to weight ratio, thanks to the 180PS delivered by the completely new power train. The R1 that was unveiled in 2007 boasted Yamaha's innovative YCC-T ride-by-wire throttle system and electronically controlled variable air intake funnels (YCC-I). Project Leader Makato Shimamoto also introduced a new four-valve design motor, slipper clutch, an improved Deltabox frame as well as improved brakes and suspension. Building on its legacy, Yamaha launched the next generation R1 in 2009, featuring a ground-breaking crossplane crankshaft engine, directly derived from Yamaha’s MotoGP M1. This unique design reduced inertia forces and delivered a more linear throttle connection. Next to that, Development Leader Toyoshi Nishida introduced twin fuel injectors, a new lightweight aluminium Deltabox frame, cast magnesium subframe and cutting-edge electronics. This model set the standard for handling and performance in the world of racing in 2009, highlighted by the incredible performance of American Ben Spies in WorldSBK, with the rookie recording 14 wins in 28 races to claim the 2009 title. Reinforcing the competitiveness of the R1 that year, the YART Yamaha EWC team was crowned Endurance World Champions, while Leon Camier won 19 out of 26 races on his way to lifting the British Superbike Championship, and Katsuyuki Nakasuga clinched his first Japanese Superbike Championship title. Constantly looking to innovate, the 2012 R1 incorporated a traction control system that adjusted ignition timing, fuel delivery, and throttle opening to maintain optimal traction, enhancing drivability and fuel consumption. To mark another ground-breaking step, the 2015 R1 was launched with a powerful 200PS engine and was the first production motorcycle equipped with a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and electronic support systems – developed and proven in MotoGP. With a dry weight of 179 kg and a host of racing features the 2015 R1 has been a sensation. Project Chief Hideki Fujiwara also introduced the top-of-the-line, limited edition R1M which featured electronically controlled suspension, a lightweight carbon-fibre cowl, and an onboard data logger to cater to the needs of serious racing and track day devotees. The 2018 R1 model offered riders an even more extensive array of sophisticated electronics, and the addition of a Quick Shift System (QSS) with a blipper function for clutchless up and downshifting took the R1 and R1M’s performance on the street and track to the next level. The R1’s handling performance was refined with more progressive mapping on the Lift Control System as well as revised suspension settings – and the Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension on the R1M featured a revised interface for a more intuitive set-up. For 2020, the R1 featured a CP4 engine with new cylinder head, camshafts and injection system – while the extensive electronic rider aids were refined to ensure even higher levels of controllability. A new EBM (Engine Brake Management) enabled the rider to select one of three different engine braking forces to match riding conditions – and the new Brake Control (BC) system gave added confidence and control when cornering. With revised damping valves and a reduced spring rate, the R1’s 43mm KYB forks provided increased feedback for a more natural handling feeling. And for improved chassis performance and reduced lap times the R1M was equipped with a new rear shock and uprated Öhlins ERS NPX gas pressurised forks. Over recent years, the R1 and R1M have continued to evolve and remain a dominant force on the racing scene, with Pata Yamaha Prometeon Official WorldSBK Team’s Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Andrea Locatelli leading the charge in the FIM Superbike World Championship. The highlight of which was Razgatlıoğlu’s 2021 WorldSBK Championship winning season that saw the Turkish rider rack up 13 race wins and 16 further podiums on his way to the title, while Italian Locatelli has grown from strength-to-strength on the R1 and has 11 podiums to his name so far. On top of this, the R1 has demonstrated its prowess all over the world, with the Yamaha Factory Racing Team winning the historic Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race four times in a row between 2015-2018, plus Cameron Beaubier (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020) and Jake Gagne (2021, 2022) securing seven of the last eight AMA Superbike titles. In 2021, Nakasuga would lift an incredible tenth Japanese Superbike Championship, with Tommy Hill (2011), Josh Brookes (2015), Tarran Mackenzie (2021), and Bradley Ray (2022) all being crowned British Superbike Champions on the R1. As the legacy of the R1 continues to grow, Yamaha remains committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation with the introduction of the R1 GYTR. GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) is Yamaha’s in-house specialist racing component division that has been developing performance enhancing technology for over 40 years. Designed specifically for track-day riders and racers who recognise Yamaha’s winning performance and premium quality, the 2023 R1 GYTR is faster and more precise than ever. Manufactured to comply with FIM Stock 1000 regulations, this high-specification machine provides individuals and teams with the ultimate canvas to create their own unique superbike. The R1 GYTR is available exclusively from GYTR PRO SHOPS. To mark such a momentous anniversary, the Yamaha Racing Experience at Mugello will host the celebration activities for the R1, with the Tuscany circuit, renowned for its fast and challenging track layout that makes it a favourite among riders and fans alike, providing the perfect setting to honour such an incredible machine. Usually the event is exclusive to R1M customers, however the 2023 YRE will be open for the first time to R1 owners to mark this momentous occasion, with two different options available to them to attend. The true meaning of spirituality is to cut yourself from the continuous life distractions that prohibit you to communicate with yourselves. For some riders, motorcycle riding is something that connects them to their inner self given that the surroundings like weather condition, the road, and the view are of rider’s liking. Riding can calm and bring inner peace. #motorcycles #motorcycle #bikelife #motorbike #moto #biker #harleydavidson #bike #bikersofinstagram #r #yamaha #motorcyclesofinstagram #honda #bikers #ride #motorcyclelife #instamoto #harley #motolife #kawasaki #ktm #suzuki #motorsport #motor #ducati #instamotorcycle #bikes #bikeporn #instabike #caferacer (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoNOzanyTRx/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Summary: In a chance encounter at a gas station, a mysterious woman on a Yamaha YZF R6 catches the attention of Carlos, a charming Ferrari driver. Little did they know the journey they would both go on.
Warning: Smut, fluff
Pairing: Carlos Sainz x OC (Lola)
Masterlist
Chapter 5
Lola wheeled her bike out of the garage and into the driveway, and Carlos followed behind her, his eyes fixed on her with a mixture of admiration and excitement. He watched as she effortlessly manoeuvred the bike, her confidence evident in every motion.
As they reached the driveway, Lola came to a stop and turned to face Carlos, a serious expression on her face. She reached for a helmet from a nearby shelf and handed it to him, her tone firm as she began to speak.
“Firstly, safety is everything.” She started, her voice carrying a sense of authority born from years of experience. “You have to wear protective gear at all times, because you never know what could happen around the next corner.”
Lola's words hung in the air, a reminder of the risks that came with riding a motorcycle. Carlos nodded in understanding, his expression serious as he listened intently to her instructions.
“That includes a proper leather jacket, gloves, and a helmet.” She continued, her gaze unwavering as she met Carlos's eyes. "Usually leather pants, but the chinos will do for tonight."
Carlos nodded again, a sense of determination settling over him as he took in Lola's words. He understood the importance of safety, and he was grateful for Lola's guidance as they prepared for their ride.
“You'll be what the biker community calls a 'backpack.’” Lola continued, her tone matter-of-fact as she explained. “You're my backpack on the bike because of the position you sit and how you have to hang onto me.”
Carlos nodded, taking in her words as he absorbed the information. He understood the concept; he would be riding pillion, holding onto Lola as she piloted the motorcycle. It was a position of trust and intimacy, and he was eager to experience it firsthand.
As Lola took a step towards the bike, Carlos followed closely behind, his anticipation growing with each passing moment.
“The rider always gets on first.” Lola stated firmly as she swung her leg over the bike and settled into the rider's seat. “Then you climb on using the pegs at the back.”
Carlos listened to her instructions, his heart pounding with nervous excitement as he watched Lola demonstrate. He took note of the foot pegs she pointed out, his hands gripping the helmet he held tightly.
With hesitant steps, Carlos approached the bike, his movements cautious as he reached for the foot pegs at the back. He hesitantly and nervously climbed onto the bike, his muscles tense with anticipation as he settled into the seat behind Lola.
Instinctively, Carlos rested his hands on Lola's waist, his touch light yet reassuring. He could feel the warmth of her body beneath his fingertips, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of connection.
“When we get going, you rest your hands on the tank when I'm braking.” Lola instructed, her voice steady and confident as she took Carlos's hands and guided them to the gas tank between her legs. “And when I squeeze your thigh, that means I'm going to start speeding up. Then you just hold on tight.”
Carlos felt Lola's hands on top of his own, her touch gentle yet firm as she continued to explain. He listened intently, his nerves beginning to ease as he absorbed her instructions.
“When I lean into corners or turns, you lean with me, kind of mimicking my movements; otherwise, we will fall over. When I come to a stop, don't lean against me; try to keep yourself in place, otherwise, I'm going to get squashed against the tank, and our helmets will more than likely bang together.” Lola concluded, her voice steady and authoritative. “Any questions?”
“How fast are we going to go?” Carlos wondered, his voice betraying a hint of apprehension.
“I won't go faster than 100 kilometres per hour. I'll take it slow.” Lola assured him, her tone calm and reassuring.
Carlos nodded, a sense of relief washing over him as he listened to Lola's words. He trusted her judgement implicitly, knowing that she would prioritise their safety above all else.
“Okay, that sounds good.” He replied, his voice steady as he met Lola's gaze. “I trust you.”
With a smile, Lola returned his nod, her confidence unwavering as she prepared to lead them on their ride.
A few moments later, the bike rolled down the driveway and out onto the street, its engine purring with anticipation. Carlos took a deep breath, his heart pounding with excitement as they embarked on their journey together.
Lola led Carlos through winding roads bordered by towering trees, their branches reaching out to brush against the night sky. The air was cool against their skin as they sped along, the rumble of the engine beneath them filling the night with a sense of excitement.
As they rode, Lola guided them through a series of twists and turns, each one more exhilarating than the last. They leaned into corners together, their bodies moving in sync as they navigated the road with precision and skill.
With each passing moment, Carlos felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through him, his senses heightened by the thrill of the ride. The rush of the wind against his face, the roar of the engine in his ears—it was a feeling unlike any other, a sense of freedom and exhilaration that filled him with a sense of joy and excitement.
As they continued on their journey, Lola led them to a secluded lookout point high above the city. They parked the bike and dismounted, the cool night air wrapping around them like a blanket as they took in the breathtaking view below.
Carlos's heart was racing as he stood on the edge of the lookout, his breath coming in short bursts as he gazed out at the twinkling lights of the city below. It was a moment of pure exhilaration, a feeling of being alive and free in the vastness of the night.
Lola removed her helmet, shaking out her hair as Carlos followed suit, his movements slightly shaky with residual adrenaline. He couldn't help but feel a rush of exhilaration as he took in their surroundings, his wide eyes and flushed cheeks betraying the intensity of the experience.
Lola chuckled at his reaction, her laughter echoing in the night air as she watched him with amusement.
“Was that too fast?” She asked, a hint of concern in her voice. Carlos shook his head, a wide grin spreading across his face as he met her gaze.
“Not at all.” He assured her, his voice filled with genuine excitement. “That was... wow. I don't have words.”
Lola smiled at his response, a sense of pride evident in her eyes as she looked at him.
“You didn't do too bad.” she informed him, her tone teasing yet genuine. “For a first-timer, that was pretty impressive.”
Even though Carlos was accustomed to the adrenaline-fueled world of high speeds and technical driving in Formula 1, the experience of riding on the back of Lola's motorcycle was an entirely different thrill. There was a rawness to it, a sense of vulnerability that heightened his senses and quickened his pulse in a way that he had never experienced before.
Carlos felt an exhilaration unlike any he had felt on the racetrack. There was no protective barrier between him and the rush of the world around him, no safety net to catch him if things went wrong. It was just him, Lola, and the open road stretching out before them. Carlos understood why Lola enjoyed the ride so much. There was something undeniably addictive about the feeling of freedom that came with riding a motorcycle, the sense of liberation that came from leaving the cares of the world behind and embracing the thrill of the unknown.
If anyone had known what he had been up to, Carlos would have found himself in a heap of trouble. Racing on the back of Lola's motorcycle through the winding roads under the cover of darkness was a far cry from the controlled environment of the Formula 1 track. It was a risk he had taken, one fueled by a desire for adventure and a longing to break free from the constraints of his carefully curated public image.
As a professional athlete, Carlos was well aware of the scrutiny that followed his every move. His actions were constantly under the microscope, his reputation carefully managed by a team of publicists and agents. Any deviation from the expected behaviour could result in damaging headlines and consequences that extended far beyond the racetrack.
But in that moment, as he clung to Lola's waist and felt the rush of the wind against his face, Carlos couldn't bring himself to care about the potential repercussions. There was something liberating about throwing caution to the wind and embracing the unknown, something exhilarating about experiencing life in its purest form.
“Maybe on the way back, you can go just a tad faster.” Carlos implored, his voice filled with a hint of excitement as they stood together, gazing out at the twinkling lights of the cityscape below. Lola turned to him with a playful grin, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
“Are you sure you can handle it?” She teased, a hint of challenge in her voice. Carlos chuckled, the thrill of their earlier ride still coursing through his veins.
“I think I can manage.” He replied, his tone confident as he met her gaze.

[ ◟ MAY. ◝ ] ⸻ have you ever heard renegade by big red machine & taylor swift , well it is RODRICK FELL to a tee . the THIRTY FOUR year old owner of notting hill cafe has been spotted wandering down portobello road markets just last sunday , do you know them ? would you say he is more reckless or more loyal ? anyway , they remind me of grey shirt and blue jeans, whiskey on the rocks, late nights at the cafe, yamaha motorcycle, smell of fresh coffee , maybe you'll catch them around yeah ? ⸻ [ ◟ SEBASTIAN STAN. ◝ ]
Triggers - death (mentioned)
Basic Info -
Full Name: Rodrick Fell
Alias: Rick
Age: 34
Birthdate: October seventh
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Pronouns: He/him
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Occupation: Owner of Notting Hill Cafe
History -
Born in Notting Hill to a well-established family, Rodrick never felt like like he's missing anything throughout his childhood. His mother was a school teacher, and his father owned a cafe in town.
Rodrick always looked up to his parents, and alongside his twin sister he always felt loved and cared for.
Rodrick found himself many days after school in his father's cafe, helping out with work, that's actually what he remembers most of his childhood memories with his father.
It was interesting growing up with a twin sister, they had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the years, and there had been many years throughout their twenties where they haven't spoke much, or fought a lot once they did, both being prideful and stubborn individuals.
around their late twenties, Rodrick's father became ill, and eventually when Rodrick was 27 his fater passed away.
Rodrick was devastated and with the great loss him and his sister grew a very strong bond, and now she is one of the people he feels closest to.
Rodrick decided that he shouldn't let his father's business die, and picked it up as his own. It was definitely not his major plan in life, but life brought him there, and he's not regretful of that choice. While there are moments where he wonders what would happen if he were to choose a different path for himself, he's not letting those thoughts linger.
A few years after, Rodrick met a woman that changed his life completely. He was so focused on learning how to run a business that he couldn't really think of anything else until she walked in.
He dated her for three years and eventually decided to marry her. The marriage lasted half a year before they both realized that this isn't working out for them. The fights were too big, there were too many things they didn't see eye to eye, and frankly, she realized that she wanted bigger things than to spend her entire life in a small town, doing the same job until she's old enough.
Something about the divorce broke something inside of him, and he's definitely not the same as he was before that. He became a lot less trusting, has less faith in things lasting, and became a lot more closed off to those he's been involved with.
Extra Info -
He loved working at the cafe as a kid/teenager, and he also loves running it. He considers himself a good business owner and he takes everything about it very seriously. His workers might call him uptight for that.
He probably wouldn't rush into a relationship even if he feels something strong for someone.
He's super protective of those he loves, he looks overall like the kind of chill guy but he could easily pick up a fist fight if he knows someone he loves is getting hurt.
He owns a motorcycle, one of his biggest loves.
If he isn't working you would probably find him at the local bar, one of his ways to lay off after closing the cafe at nights.
Wanted Connections -
Twin sister
Ex-wife
Co-workers
Close friends
Exes/flings/crushes
all is open for discussion !!

Upgrading to LED Headlights on the Yamaha MT09
The Yamaha MT09 is a powerful motorcycle known for its agility and sleek design. However, like many motorcycles, its stock headlights may not provide the brightest or most efficient lighting for nighttime riding or low-visibility conditions. Upgrading to LED Yamaha MT09 aftermarket headlight is a practical modification that offers increased visibility, longer lifespan, and enhanced style. This guide covers the benefits of an LED upgrade, the selection process, and step-by-step installation.
Benefits of LED Headlights on the Yamaha MT09
Upgrading to LED headlights offers a range of advantages for MT09 riders:
Improved Brightness and Visibility: LED headlights produce a bright, focused light that illuminates the road more effectively, enhancing nighttime visibility and helping you spot obstacles sooner.
Energy Efficiency: LEDs consume less power than traditional halogen bulbs, which means less strain on your bike's electrical system and battery.
Longer Lifespan: LED lights last significantly longer than halogens, reducing the frequency of replacements and maintenance.
Modern Aesthetic: LEDs emit a crisp, white light that gives the MT09 a sleek, updated look, adding to the bike’s overall visual appeal.
Quick Response Time: LEDs turn on instantly, which is especially useful for brake lights and turn signals, providing faster signaling to other drivers.
Choosing the Right LED Headlight Kit
To find the best LED headlights for your Yamaha MT09, consider the following factors:
Brightness Level: Look for headlights with a high lumen rating to ensure they offer enough brightness. Most LEDs range between 6,000 and 10,000 lumens.
Color Temperature: A temperature between 5,000K and 6,500K offers a bright white light ideal for visibility without creating glare.
Compatibility: Verify that the LED kit is compatible with the MT09’s headlight housing and won’t require additional adjustments to fit.
Durability: LED headlights should be weather-resistant, with a high waterproof rating (IP67 or IP68) to withstand rain and dust.
DOT Certification: For street-legal use, make sure the LED headlights are DOT-certified, ensuring they meet road safety standards.
Tools and Materials Needed
Before starting the installation, gather the following tools and materials:
LED headlight kit compatible with the Yamaha MT09
Screwdriver set (usually Phillips and flathead)
Allen wrenches (if necessary)
Electrical tape and zip ties (for securing wiring)
Owner’s manual (to check specifications)
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install LED headlights on your Yamaha MT09:
Turn Off the Engine and Disconnect the Battery: For safety, make sure the bike is off and disconnect the battery’s negative terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Headlight Housing: Locate and remove any screws or bolts securing the headlight housing. On the MT09, this may involve loosening bolts around the headlight assembly or nearby fairings to gain access.
Remove the Stock Bulbs: Carefully twist and remove the stock halogen bulbs from the headlight housing. Handle the bulbs gently, as they can be fragile.
Install the LED Bulbs: Insert the new LED bulbs into the headlight sockets, ensuring they are positioned securely. Check that they’re facing in the correct direction to maximize light output. Some LEDs have adjustable bases for proper alignment.
Connect the Wiring Harness: Most LED kits include a plug-and-play wiring harness. Attach the harness to the bike’s wiring connector, and ensure it is secure. Use electrical tape or zip ties to organize and secure any loose wires, preventing them from interfering with other components.
Reassemble the Headlight Housing: Reinstall any bolts or screws to secure the headlight housing, taking care to check that everything is aligned correctly. Tighten screws firmly but avoid over-tightening to prevent damage.
Reconnect the Battery and Test the LEDs: Reattach the battery’s negative terminal, turn on the bike, and switch on the headlights. Verify that the LEDs are functioning correctly and check the high and low beam settings. If the LEDs appear too high or low, make adjustments to the headlight alignment.
Adjusting Headlight Aim
Proper headlight aim is essential to ensure optimal visibility without causing glare to oncoming traffic. To adjust:
Find a Flat Surface and Wall: Park the bike on a level surface facing a wall approximately 25 feet away.
Measure the Beam Height: Mark the center of the headlight beam on the wall using painter’s tape. The beam should be slightly below the headlight height to avoid shining too high.
Adjust the Beam: Use the adjustment screws on the headlight assembly to lower or raise the beam as needed.
Maintenance Tips for LED Headlights
After installing LED headlights, follow these maintenance tips to keep them in optimal condition:
Clean Lenses Regularly: Wipe the headlight lenses with a soft cloth and mild cleaner to prevent dust or dirt buildup, which can reduce light output.
Check for Moisture: LED headlights are generally sealed, but condensation can still form. If you notice moisture inside the housing, inspect the seal and dry it out to prevent long-term damage.
Inspect Connections Periodically: Ensure wiring connections remain secure, especially if you frequently ride in rough conditions. Reapply electrical tape or adjust zip ties if necessary.
Upgrading to LED headlights on the Yamaha MT09 enhances both safety and style. With improved brightness, energy efficiency, and longevity, LED headlights are a worthwhile investment for MT09 riders. By following the steps outlined here, you can enjoy a more comfortable and safer nighttime riding experience while giving your MT09 a modern, standout look on the road.
