“That’s a great plan, but what they don’t have a plan for is how they’re going to do it without impact and damage to existing residents and how they are going to maintain the communities as safe places to live,” she said in an interview with Postmedia Thursday. (Link➡️ https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/proposed-river-valley-gondola-business-case-to-go-before-council) One thing I’ve noticed with #yegcc Planning and Development is they are great in planning but not the execution. The city annexed land to the detriment of mature neighbourhoods. Most mature neighborhoods were built around big events such as WWII or the oil booms. There are many things that need to be dealt with when doing infil; the biggest concerns are that the projects are built to close to the property lines. There is actual math involved as to how the house to land works. Also how does the project affect the infrastructure? Such as waste management, sewage, CEPTED, etc. Who thought it was a good idea to build not 1 but 2 big apartment buildings when the sewage system needed to be upgraded? It was difficult to deal with the sewage smell. We need to get this right. Hopefully the next #yegcc will get it tight. https://www.instagram.com/p/CnkASrPJ1J9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

City of Champions are Edmonton volunteers dedicated to preserving and promoting the deep grassroots tireless community spirit with hands-on involvement that encompasses our whole region. Working together to improve the lives of our fellow citizens through community involvement is what makes CHAMPIONS of us all. _____ What makes Edmonton the City of Champions?   The metro Edmonton area is so much more that just sports. There are thousands of reasons why we are known as the City of Champions. Yes, of course we are all very proud of all the sports and non-sports local, regional, national, international, world champions, awards, recognitions and advancements that our citizens, teams, organization and companies have collected over the years.  This makes for a positive foundation that we all have the opportunity to build our lives on. _______ What makes Edmonton the City of Champions?   The population with more than a million in the metro region is made up of an amazingly diverse mix of people from all corners of the world creating a rich blend of ethnically diverse communities.  This diversity is highlighted by the very flavourful, colour annual Heritage Days Festival attended by hundreds of thousands of people. www.heritagefest.ca _______ What makes Edmonton the City of Champions?   Edmonton’s River Valley, “Ribbon of Green”, surrounding the North Saskatchewan River is the largest stretch of urban parkland in North America, reinforced by its neighbourhood parks makes for Canada’s highest area of parkland per resident. www.tinyurl.com/RiverOfGreen ______ There are thousands of reason Edmonton is the City of Champions. I've seen a lot of people on social media describe Pekiwewin as a “homeless camp.” While there are people there who are houseless, it is so much more than that. It is a community on sacred ground. It is a place where a grassroots group of young people are filling gaps left by the City and Province in the wake of the closures of Kinsmen and Expo Centre. It is a visible reminder that we need to do better as a city and a province on the issue of houselessness, and that the unhoused are our neighbours and community members and should be treated as such. -- Support the Pekiwewin relief and prayer camp. Donate money by e-transfer to [email protected] with the note “Pekiwewin.” Donate goods daily at the donation tent from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The camp always needs cigarettes, bus passes, snack food, blankets, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, and rain gear. Donate your time by volunteering. Contact [email protected] and let them know what skills you can offer. -- #yeg #yegcc #yeghousing #edmonton #yegdt #pekiwewin #defundthepolice #landback (at Rossdale) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD4Eg81gG4-/?igshid=1cboonyef315p

Never thought I would say this..
I pulled a “Karen”, Tuesday.
As you may recall, last summer was a fucked up neighbourhood renew. I’ve spoken a lot about how those that struggled to get into and out of their homes was frustrating. It took most of summer to get 1 piece of sidewalk and a sidewalk put in so the bus could pick me up safely. I swear to gawd someone is going to get hurt if this isn’t fixed. I need the handicapped sign (sidewalk 1) moved from where it currently is to he other side; strictly for the bus.
Tumblr media
The van we have works fine in the current location; it’s the one on the north side of the tree.
As I wasn’t getting anywhere with the city person, I asked to speak to his supervisor. He called me yesterday; turns out the sidewalk was put in further than it was supposed to be. The sidewalk was to be placed where the sign is, then they just needed to move the sign where it aligned with our property line.
It’s been so frustrating dealing with all of this.

A moment in history. A photo record of the City of Edmonton councillors who will fund the Bike Plan … or kick the can down the road and potentially hand billions of dollars of infrastructure damage and negative health impacts for future councillors to fund. #yegbike #yegcc (at Edmonton City Hall) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl9Kx0jve2r/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
