Omori Crossover AU except it's actually Angst [Various Spoilers]

All the characters don't appear at once, only when it's most thematically or dramatically appropriate.

Canon Sunny meets (O)Mari and both think they're hallucinating.

Endless Sunny and Omori meet up with other Sunnys and they start to panic about whether their own Omori was real or not. TMAWH Sunny knows for a fact his is not, but now everyone else is not so sure.

Characters from Fluff writing where no one dies just spontaneously see one of their friends be utterly depressed or out of character, only to find out this one apparently killed somebody. (Fluff Aubrey working a Cafe shift sees depressed Mari order twelve expressos and smile her way through the day).

Eye for an Eye Basil meets YBM Basil and they have a much needed heart to heart.

Sunny's mom and Hero are horrified to hear about YBM Hero.

It's the climax of Pursuit AU, and Hero is running away, but runs into one of the Maris. She is horrified by him.

The Pursuit characters having a REAL hard time trusting any of the Heros.

The Bad Endings exist as well, and multiple unfortunate sightings happen.

A bunch of the Good Ending characters get together like a council and decide what to do for the Bad Ending characters. Should they get directly involved? Guide them gently? Help them heal? Straight up tell the truth as they think they know it (some patterns are obvious, some are not)?

Then the Emori gang shows up as Comfort/ Comedy Relief, because they are somehow the healthiest group as a whole, but different enough that any trauma associated with that specific character is muted.

Also, there are now at least 6 Graves where before there was only Mari's.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I honestly have not read the fic in a while. Some of the things I'll say might not be completely accurate, but he's mentally unstable. It'll be in character if he lies.

This variant of Pursuit Hero is 1 year post-good ending where he has been arrested, then placed into a mental institution. He is a little ... Fucked in the head, and he definitely got worse overtime.

I think he's fuck(ing hot)ed, just the way he's written is amazing like, he's meant to be hated and we all hate him but you know how some of us used to pity him in YBM until he did the most fucked up thing (then) as to

kidnap Sunny (well technically Sunny went with his own volition, but Hero was gas lighting him to join) and then had the audacity to let his family think both him and Sunny committed Oyasumi by writing suicide notes (Pursuit Hero and 12yro Recital Day Basil would've made a dream team 💀)

Seriously, I can't describe how much I adore him and how utterly repulsed i am by him at the same time.

Then he killed Keith 😭 which I skimmed through reading and just caught up with the comments because at this point Hero is like this eldritch monster that looms around everyone while last chapter we got like a semblance of Suntan Fluff now we are just dreading for what's to come.

Then Chapter 12: Allegro came

And it broke me, like it literally had me on the edge of my seat! Because now we know what Hero is capable of, I was just thinking up of what he might resort to take Sunny away again. And just oh just that SCENE of Omori JUST BEGGING FOR SUNNY TO RUN, TO GET HELP, TO FIND KEL THEN TO RESORT TO GOING INTO THE FOREST IS JUST- Chefs kiss 🎇

I was literally biting my nails to prevent myself from shouting at the screen, from yelling at Sunny to fucking run and HOLY SHIT WHERE THE FUCK IS KEL?!?!?!?

Ugh the confrontation is so GOOD! Sunny used Hero's (trademark) gas lighting back on him and Hero getting stab somehow did nothing to comfort because I feel like Hero wouldn't really get affected by it AND I WAS RIGHT! then Kel teleported into the scene and Hero PULLS OUT A FUCKING GUN

I'm pretty sure it was foreshadowed that he had a gun somewhere, or we should've expected it, but IT WAS SUCH A SHOCK TO ME, LIKE HOLY SHIT A FUCKING GUN! (Probably because I kind of skipped the last few scenes with Hero leading up to this moment)

Ok I'm just gushing about the fic at this point but I dont care, I LOVE IT!

I don't care that there's some controversy regarding this fic and YBM because Masterpieces like these shouldn't be undermined by peoples inability to comprehend its greatness. It's not perfect but like if people actually READ the fic they wouldn't have misunderstood Hero's infatuation with Sunny as romance.

So yeah, my thoughts on Pursuit Hero, he's pretty cool. Dope ass guy, but he should really die in a gutter alone.

If you haven't yet (but I'm sure you did), you should definitely read all of @otomerson 's other works, for a writer, their works are so aspiring to me. I wish I can write like them one day.

Yeah he's devoted or whatever but will he literally process your death so badly he falls into a year long depression and then switches gears to pretending everything is fine and represses your memory to maintain a facade of normalcy and then three years after that starts he goes to visit the town you both are from and his friends decide to visit your grave and he's with them and he mentally cannot handle being there because he's afraid of confronting his grief and then he starts hallucinating the flowers that were at your funeral because they're like fragments of your ghostly will to him and then that night one of his friends (who's also your younger brother btw) gets seriously injured and while he tries to stop the bleeding his hallucinations get worse and he thinks he sees your ghost but it's all in his head and your "ghost" asks him to protect your brother and reiterates a promise you made with him years ago when you were still alive and then over the next month or so he has to watch your brother put himself in perilous situations again and again that causes him to break mentally so bad that he kills your mom and tries to kidnap your brother but thankfully some of your friends are emotionally competent (including your brother despite his instability) so the situation gets diffused and partially resolved and then after some therapy and really tense talks the group decides they're gonna do one final send-off for you in an effort to let go of your grief but the day before this all happens despite all the therapy your boyfriend has been going through he throws it all away because he's convinced he's irredeemable and so he kidnaps your younger brother and fakes suicide notes so everyone thinks they died and then he locks him in an apartment to keep him safe from the outside world for the foreseeable future

And then five years later turns out the brother of your boyfriend didn't actually believe they died and has managed to locate your brother and rescues him while your boyfriend is out at work which sparks a chain of events where it's revealed to the group that your brother is now insanely traumatized due to what happened and all of the people you were friends with are now really dysfunctional adults who can barely hide their disordered thinking and while the entire group is getting their shit together your boyfriend has committed himself to finding the person who rescued your brother (and he's so deluded that he perceives the rescue as a kidnapping) and so he goes to a friend for help but then the two get into a fight and he kills them and then proceeds to trap himself in his own mind for a month about it because he is mentally unable to process grief and while this is happening the group learns that your younger brother tried ending his own life but failed due to the efforts of your boyfriend trying to keep him alive and then he passes out for like three days and after he wakes up he spends a considerable amount of time processing his trauma through a coping mechanism he developed while he was missing and now your boyfriend is out of his mental prison and has cleared his mind completely and is back on his mission to kidnap your brother for the second time but this time he's 100% aware of his actions and has no remorse and after your brother manages to process everything he and the group decide to try living normal lives together and being in the moment but he keeps having these moments of paranoia and terror but he doesn't know why and then he decides to visit your grave to sort out his thoughts but it turns out your boyfriend was there because he decided to visit right before your brother arrived at the cemetery and so the two end up in a chase and wind up at a clearing and then your brother stabs your boyfriend and runs away but its revealed your boyfriend's brother was nearby when this all happened and got too suspicious about your brother being out for so long so he panicked and started searching for him and managed to find the clearing after your brother had fled from it and then he and your boyfriend shoot at each other with real actual guns and he gets pretty badly injured and drops his weapon and your brother hears the gunshots and goes to help and your boyfriend is holding his brother hostage in an attempt to get your brother to comply but then your brother picks up the gun on the ground and shoots your boyfriend and then the police show up because they were called and heard the gunshots and so they arrest your boyfriend and the injured are taken to the hospital for recovery and the entire group cant believe that the horrors have ended and they can finally breathe and so they spend the rest of their lives together supporting one another and helping each other heal

And this entire time you've been a ghost watching over them and watching everyone make these horrible mistakes alongside their beautiful choices and you've been completely unable to help them and have been trapped in the position of an outside observer watching the people you love hurt each other and themselves over and over again. And this all started because you decided to start playing the piano after you tore your ACL because you played softball in high school. You are 15 years old

Okay so basically it's a sequel to the fic that I refer to as YBM. I refer to the whole AU as "YBM/Pursuit AU" so if I refer to an individual part I just say the singular name (like if I'm talking about Pursuit specifically I just say "Pursuit"). I'm so normal about this AU

Anyways it's an Omori fic series so spoilers for the game under the cut

So the plot of YBM (full title "You're Back, Mari" which in itself is an Omori spoiler LMAO) it's complicated but it can be easily summarized as "Hero goes batshit insane and everyone has to deal with the consequences." The long version of it though is that Hero has spent so long repressing his grief over Mari's death that he starts hallucinating her ghost. You see, in this AU not long before Mari's death (iirc anyways, Fake-Ghost Mari could've said this it's been a long while since I've last read the fic tbh) the two of them had a conversation and Hero made a promise that, if anything ever happened to Mari, that we would look after her younger brother named Sunny. In the present, since Hero is currently Losing It™️ this promise of care turns into extreme overprotective behavior that actually ends up harming Sunny more than it helps. Don't worry though there's a happy ending to the fic where Hero starts his journey of healing and regaining his friends' trust

Anyways the Pursuit story takes place after the bad ending of YBM where Hero honest to god kidnaps Sunny. I am not joking this actually happens just stay with me here. After a timeskip of around five years after the events of YBM, Sunny gets rescued by another major character (Kel). The rest of the fic follows two major plotlines: the friend group all learning to readjust to having their (presumed to be dead but clearly still alive) friend back with them and working through their different traumas together, and then the process of Hero on a mission to find and (in his mind) "rescue" Sunny. There are three endings to this fic and they all make me want to saw off my feet (POSITIVE)

YBM is around 197k words and Pursuit is around 160k? I think?? This isn't even addressing stuff from YBM's cut content and the Pursuit Hero x Reader (queerplatonic) fic that the author wrote <- I AM DEAD SERIOUS THIS IS REAL. This all went on from like March 10th, 2021 to April of 2022. The fic series itself is close to 400k words of total posted/published writing. Right now the fic is listed under anonymous because people can't fucking read and think the fic is about shipping 😭😭

ITS NOT ABOUT SHIPPING.... ITS ABOUT THE TRAGEDY OF HOW DEEP CARE FOR OTHERS CAN TURN SOMEONE INTO SOMETHING UNRECOGNIZABLE...... the story is so deeply entrenched with concepts revolving around love and care and protection and the lengths people will go to in order to "save" the people they care about. It's about who's your favorite mentally ill person it makes me so insaneeeee

This comparison does not even begin to describe the insanity that was Undertale in 2017. Omori was and never will be anywhere near that point and I need you to understand that

I don't want to sound rude in my reply, but i want to emphasize that I am extremely passionate about this AU. It means a lot to me, and I don't think this one singular AU is comparable to the entirety of the Undertale fanbase from 2017 where people flanderized the characters the point of them being unrecognizable. YBM/Pursuit builds off of the themes of Omori in ways you could never imagine

I witnessed the Undertale fandom with my own two eyes as a 13/14 year old on the internet. I made my post to explain to people who weren't there how much of a chokehold the AU had on people, not to point out how insane and crazy AUs were in the fandom.

People who weren't in the Omori fandom from 2021-2022 completely missed how insane YBM/Pursuit AU was and the chokehold it had on the fandom. It was an actual point of discussion for a lot of big fans of the game because of how well-known the series was and I'm dead serious. When the final chapters of Pursuit were about to release there was a countdown on twitter, and when it came out it released alongside an ACTUAL ART PRINT OF THE CHARACTERS (I own one!). There was a tag specifically for spoilers so people had time to read and a place to ramble without spoiling anyone on the insane events that transpired in the endings. I'm not fucking kidding when I say there was a whole ass discord server dedicated to this shit
