So some people have been theorizing the parallels between yasammy in s3 of jwct to jwcc s3

And saying they want a parallel to the long run where this time Sammy saves Yaz. While as a huge yasammy fan it would be cool to see how that would play out but

I don’t want that to happen.

I think that Sammy only going to Yaz because she’s hurt would undermine the real reasons they broke up.

Throughout s3 Yaz is determined to help Brooklynn and while she’s in the right for that, she’s also wrong for constantly dismissing Sammy’s feelings.

Sammy feels abandoned by Brooklynn and it’s triggering some old feelings about Yaz abandoning her for Wyoming and her family abandoning her by not talking to her.

Yaz doesn’t understand that in s3. Now this isn’t to say Sammy is right and Yaz is wrong in the whole thing, both had valid points but both need to work on fixing things together. They need to communicate in a better way that isn’t gonna hurt either of them.

Now there’s also another reason why I stated I don’t want this parallel to happen. Sammy shouldn’t run straight back to Yaz because of a near death experience.

Yaz has to be the one to come to Sammy, to be open on fixing things. Both need to do the work but it’s not gonna work if Sammy runs to Yaz because Sammy is putting herself first instead of running to put someone else before herself.

Yaz needs to prove that she’s not abandoning Sammy. These girls love each other so much and they can work it out.

But not because of them almost dies, but because they know what problems they can work on and improve.

YES!!! I loved this so much, it was such a good way of acknowledging the potentials, the unknown (very Ian Malcolm/Chaos Theory of them might I add) and feels like a realistic response to the situation. And hopefully foreshadows better things to come

I also appreciate that even Gia doesn’t necessarily see the breakup as a done deal.

“Not knowing what, if anything, the future holds for you” definitely gets more at an uncertainty between them. As do a few other lines of dialogue from other characters. I don’t think anyone fully sees this as permanent. It could be, but no one knows where it’s going. Least of all Yaz and Sammy themselves.

But honestly the first time they’re in a room together without decisions about Brooklynn hanging over them they’re probably gonna talk about it. They’re both very obviously not okay with how they left things.

Yaz constantly disregarding Sammy stating how she feels because "Oh you can't be mad at brooklynn despite her choosing to go with the woman that nearly ended our lives, resulting in us going to two different continents just to look for her even when she doesn't wanna be found because she's family!!!" makes me feel SO DAMN ANNOYED.

"We're a team, and i dont think we're acting like a team rn" Oh gee! Maybe because teamwork requires communication! WHICH INCLUDES LISTENING. YOU ARE NOT LISTENING YAZ. SHE IS ACTUALLY SPEAKING OUT AND YOU ARE DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE.

Sammy was completely right about the "You said you're always there for your family, but you havent even tried to see where im coming from!" part. Because Yaz calls her ridiculous, talking about Brooklynn, disregarding Sammy ONCE AGAIN. its extremely frusterating

In ep 5, Yaz IMMEDIATELY blaming SAMMY for Brooklynn hanging up is just so unreasonable. Yaz saying how if Sammy passed the phone sooner she would've gotten Brook to stay on the line, but what happened was unavoidable. either way, she'd still hang up after Yaz says maybe one sentance because Davi was stalking her (why did he give me jeffrey class 09 vibes i dont like him).

Yaz needs to actually GO to sammy instead of waiting for sammy to go to her. Because sammy already has, yaz is just going further away

Holding the breakup scene so gently. It was done with such care and is so indicative of their relationship and the details just- UGH

The entire set up. It opens with them sitting on opposite sides of the bed. They aren’t facing eachother because they’re uncomfortable doing this. They’re doing it anyway because they know it’s important and they don’t want to keep hurting eachother.

The fact they had to default to “I feel” statements? Therapy style? They were going in to that conversation BLIND

Neither of them have done this before!! They’ve never had to come back to a fight and work through not agreeing. There’s no convincing either one of them, they’re both firm here, neither of them are explicitly in the wrong, and that is something they haven’t had to deal with.

Sammy was hugging a pillow. Yaz was hugging herself.

Sammy is the first to turn around and break the script. Yaz was the first to throw an insult.

They both stopped and apologized at the same time.

Neither of them said the B word on screen. (Break up)

And after all of this they went to dinner anyways because once again the circumstance takes priority over their relationship.

There’s something in the details about how in tune they are even when they can’t understand. The way they find comfort in eachother’s comfort. Holding and wanting to be held. Knowing when lines are crossed. The main source of pain not being from insults but from the realization the other is being hurt by their thoughts their words their feelings. From the realization that those things won’t change.

Neither of them wanted to break up. Neither of them wanted to keep hurting her girlfriend. The latter was stronger.
