okay um tryna lock back in now, i've got a couple notes:

so overall, this game was VERY if-y. it had some good moments, but the storyline was super unstable and it felt like they didn't really know what they were doing while writing it.

I liked the concept of a multi-versal murder mystery, but once they drifted away from that and started spiralling into the weird Super-Safi storyline it got kinda confusing to follow along

I truly think they had a really great idea with this game, but the weak plot-twists and boring storyline absolutely bombed it. (I guess you could say that the only murderer in this "murder mystery" was the game's plot killing itself)

I also think it had a really lovely messege about overcoming trauma, and I liked how they treated Max's PTSD with the storm (plus her heartbreak from Chloe was actually well handled, which was a huge concern for me when I heard abt it). I think her Dark Room trauma was treated kinda weird bc of the time vortex thing but honestly that was more of a plot-clarity issue over a conceptual problem.

At the beginning, I was HEAVILY judging the music. Maybe my tastes have changed in the past month or sum but now the music isn't that bad (I still HATE the intro song tho) and I actually like the new vibe this game brought to the LiS world. It was def different from the OG LiS game but I feel like thats a good thing since a huge portion of this game is proving that Max isn't that same teenager anymore. She's changed, the world around her changed, and so her new game is a reflection of that.

Also, the cat content... I LOVED customizing the cat, but I thought the add-on was gonna be more obvious and didn't even realize that I had missed the actual content until I went into the trophies menu after playing lmfao😭😭

I have like a million more comments abt this game but I feel like I got all my major stuff out already so I'm gonna stop rambling lol. Negatus's full name is James E. Negatus

It is implied that he has at least one child

He has pjs with houses on them

He cannonically has at least two stuffed animals

Admiral Anous attempted to burn one of them (Toby) but pissed off Negatus enough to get axed in the chest and thrown into a freezer instead

Negatus is very boastful, mostly in an attempt to impress and be liked by others

He's generally smart but tends to overlook major flaws in his plans

He had 381 demons, most of which he killed when they failed to win a tournament, which he wanted to win because he thought that would make people like him

the remaining demons are Rita (the Negatus simp), Niel (the Rita simp), and Jeff (the dumb one)

Negatus usually calls his boss, Imperatrix "your eminence" but behind her back calls her bossy boobs

when his demons fail him he calls them cretins

He once sent his demons on a teambuilding retreat and joined when he saw the instructor was hot. He failed to remember however, that he killed the instructor's parents and most of her village

When he thinks Imperatrix is dead he plans to stage a coup, creating his famous logo and planning the new layout of Yonderland (Negataland) which just so happens to be an exact replica of the Mona Lisa.

When Imperatrix does die (spoilers), Cuddly Dick takes over, who throws Negatus in jail. Debbie breaks him out of prison but not before he establishes himself in the prison library. He and Debbie totally have a moment together before Negatus finds out she's married.

At this time too, we learn about Negatus's rough childhood and how he was forced to eat his pet dog Scratchy which his father baked into a pie

meanwhile the Elders are being forced to do the same with their new pet rabbits but Negatus is there just in time to save them

Negatus serves as a spy for the Elders after this but eventually goes back to working for Dick and betraying Debbie.

Finally in the Christmas special, Negatus catches Chompus (the monster that eats everyone's presents every year) and goes to steal more presents from Yonderland as well as Debbies house.

Here, there's a Grinch moment where Negatus sees Debbie's daughter who makes Negatus feel bad for stealing her presents and he FINALLY has a full redemption arc.

Negatus usually wears his leather outfit complete with black eyeliner, black nail polish, and occasionally red lipstick

for attending (sneaking into) a meeting with the overlords, he wears a red version of his helmet (the same thing + some red fabric) plus some more lipstick and a cape with camping badges on it.

since he tends to brag a little too much, the overlords are convinced he actually did kill 2 or 3 megadragons and he is invited to hold a seminar on being evil... and he accidentally kills everyone there

Negatus is totally in love with Debbie as on multiple occasions he has described her as pretty and eaten deodorant when she says to him "I see you in a totally different way now" (approximately 2 seconds before telling him she's married)

So. Finished Kiwami 2.

I can feel the details fading from my brain already, what the fuck was that. Even without the weird anti-Korean bullshit (seriously EVERYONE is Jingweon except Kazuki and Suyeon bugger this honestly) it was so fucking BORING, I didn't CARE about the fate of the Tojo, let it fall, who cares. The only reason I'm mildly interested in it staying is cause the Omi are worse. I wasn't as invested in the combat but in fairness I got into this series thinking the quick-changing between four unique combat styles was this franchise's gimmick but turns out I'm wrong :) That's fine, it's just one of the main reasons I picked up the game, that's okay.

The game's best bits were Ryuji and Daigo. Also I like seeing Yuya and Kazuki and Sayama, whilst not given the best treatment via the writers imo, is a really cool character.

Oh and Majima Saga was MUCH shorter than I expected which eh, lil disappointing, but I got closure with him and his Sotenbori past so I'll allow it (even though it makes me fucking CRY)

Why is it that the Jingweon's whole 'death before dishonour, revenge above all else' is simply Bad And Evil And Backwards when I swear like....don't yakuza have similar creeds? Never back down, loyalty to the cause, to the family, debts must be repaid in blood and money alike. Maybe they're go a bit more with it but yakuza aren't above playing the long game for their goals (see Sera and Shimano). Is it bad when they Jingweon do it cause they're Korean? They're the bad guys I guess so.
