Xander: We Just got onto the helicarrier. From what we can tell these only host JARVIS.02- Smarter than the one in your average Stark Phone but not the personal smart AI that Tony Stark has himself. Which is good, we should be able to skim some of the data we need off before we're noticed... Gonna have to sift through it all but Scott is down to help us with that- it was his bug in anycase. i don't know if it's just me but hope peak labeling Xander as an "ultimate rebel" feels soooo insanely shady of them to do and so backhanded. like can i- we just talk about that for a moment. i Think too much. one could argue that they used a term with simpler meaning such as 'rebel' to refer to his activism and revolutionist work for the general public to digest the complexity & heaviness of what he stands for & does while getting the gist of what he specializes in.

thing is that this term has negative connotations which are usually heightened when applied to young adults and teenagers. typically this term is attached to an certain appearance and how the behavior affects others more than what is being said itself. that way when it is applied to people, it is used as as a way to dismiss their genuine criticisms of the status quo. it's assumed they're not justified to feel so strongly about criticizing norms in society because of it's heavy association with young people and as i've mentioned, how it makes others feel when you are critical of norms.

using the words "revolutionist" and "activist" may be uncomfortable but at least it directly tells you the complexity going behind his work and perhaps beliefs. yet using "rebel" is such an interesting word to describe his work, as it appears more like Hope peak is undermining his work & beliefs and calling him a trouble maker at once. even more so as he is a pretty young person himself, it is assumed by the story that he is a fresh adult going into college and finally facing the real world.

if hopes peak is willing to treat his work and activism like this, there is the question to why let him be in college in the first place? why bother accepting a student like this if they're aware that he will be a reflection of the school. hope's peak actions make the title of his more suspicious, specifically their cover-ups. i can't help but interpret Xander's presence in the college being thought of because Hope's peak wanted him into the school hoping that he could be "tamed" or perhaps watched, while taking advantage of his image by making the school appear "progressive" than it is.

there are various of possibilities to why Hope peak even got the thought in the first place, i have a few but this post is going on too long and i need to sleep. i don't know what to end this post at because these are just random thoughts i got.

as much as Hope's peak is very suspicious and calculated, his ultimate title seems unnecessarily damn petty to the point it's kind of funny.

The question catches Xander off-guard, and he hesitates in front of the fridge, fresh bottle dangling in his fingers. The truth is, his love life is an embarrassment. It always started out well enough, but inevitably, his one true obsession clashed with his relationship, and it'd peter out. It was his fault, really. He shuts the fridge door and meanders back to the living room.

"Yeah man, I've been in love. There have been some really amazing women in my life." He drops into a chair, eyes falling shut as faces pass through his mind. "Never lasted though. It's a cliche to say it was the music, but..." He raises his bottle.

OK I JUST CAME UP WITH A CRACK THEORY BUT I MIGHT BE RIGHT:

ok so I’ve seen some ppl say that phone girls name is Calla or Lily bc we all know her dad gave her a calla lily right before he went and offed himself and that there is calla lilys on the cover of tgg

BUT I’ve always disagreed with both partly bc I don’t think she gives of Lily vibes and also bc I speak Spanish and calla, in Spanish means to be quiet or shut up…WHICH IS WHERE THE THEORY COMES IN

WHAT IF: the flower was a gift/ sign from THE Hawthorne (maybe Tobias, maybe the OTHER Hawthorne) that led to Phone girl’s dads suicid3.

The flower was meant to be a sign to signal to her dad to be quiet BY ki11ing himself….bc idk if you guys know but lilys are funeral flowers. It would have been a threat like “shut up or die, or shut up AND die”

Also I thinks this can be supported by the fact that Tobias sent flowers to his funeral….calla lilys maybe.

Looking at it like this maybe it’s creepy that he gave his daughter a funeral flower that was meant to shut him up but maybe it was meant as a warning to her.

Sidenote: how does she know it was a calla lily? Did he tell her as he gave it to her? Bc if so that might also suggest that he understand my hypothetical meaning behind this flower, and understood the threat. Or did she maybe see them at the funeral and someone told her the name of the flowers? Does she come from a gardening family lol? Just how?

I think about that scene in the Ocular where Ryne suggests she fuse with Minfilia properly so so much. It manages to very clearly demonstrate exactly what is wrong with her & Thancred's current dynamic.

First of all: Minfilia. The ghost of Minfilia is constantly haunting them both, it's the root of Thancred's grief and reticence as he doesn't want to lose her again, but nor does he want to lose Ryne. And for Ryne, she's the source of the constant objectification she's been subjected to her entire life, proof of her worthlessness as an individual person. The scene has the existance of Minfilia be the main point of tension, being that this whole plan will decide once and for all if she comes back or not.

And secondly: The complete lack of communication and, as a result, massive misunderstandings. Thancred says everything but the things he should, never telling Ryne anything regarding how he actually views or feels about her, be it in regards to Minfilia, or as her own individual person. And Ryne in turn assumes so much about how Thancred DOES view and feel about her, believing without a doubt that he wishes she was gone just so Minfilia could return.

This scene is the first and only place were Ryne actually confronts him about this, directly telling him 'I know you haven't told me anything because you thought it best for me'. She also says she thought it the best at first too, meaning that the sentiment she repeats throughout shb of 'I wish he'd just say he hates me' is a (relatively) more recent thing. What she has wrong, however, is that she actually doesn't know Thancred's true feelings like she claims. And when she says she does, Thancred immediately tells her 'No. No you do not', all while never actually saying anything to indicate what he actually feels (his ability to avoid voicing is feelings is almost impressive at this point. Also very depressing).

And the cherry on top is that the one who actually manage to grasp and voice the truth in this interaction is fucking Emet-Selch. Mr. I-dont-even-consider-you-alive is the one who is open about the feelings involved. Emet-fucking-Selch. Thancred gets so pissed off about it, too(tbf he gets pissed off at everything Emet does but, ya know).

And then he storms out and Ryne, who isn't looking at anyone let alone Thancred, doesn't really see his full reaction to Emet's words and therefore still hasn't quite grasped what Thancred is actually feeling, the poor girl.

Adding every character I've seen people complain about even if I find it baffling

Xander: Well fuck... we've known that Stark has been recruiting new pilots ever since Warmachine got taken out of action.

But here's their first public appearance. Clearly not as high tech as the og. Looks like they're based off of the old MK7 armor.

I say public because I've gotten wind that these have been used in dawn EVRA raids in a couple of places up and down the country. So clearly Stark isn't choosing the most morally pure people here.

Funnily enough, despite all his talk of accountability the identities of the Pilots haven't been released yet... There's a lobbying group putting together a FOIA request but we'll see if that ever comes to anything. Officially to comply with the EVRA all you need to do is register with the government. There's no rule that you have to go public.

... sigh

On a related note there's been even more EVRA pressure at home. Hank has been under a lot of scrutiny and hasn't been able to make it out to the warehouse as much. I had to go to his main Lab this weekend to pick up some components. Met his intern, Rhona. She's nice, a bit intense though.
