Suga DUI and The witch hunt:

How SK media handled suga DUI Vs the other DUI cases in that country where a DUI of falling over an E-scooter gets more coverage than BTS Grammy achievements alone and when there were other DUI cases happening in that month too ,even the following months with even SK ex president daughter having DUI but guess here we have media leaving no chance to use BTS to cover every issue in south Korea.

Total of 271,525 articles were published about this incident and among them SK media alone published 263,913 articles .29,990 articles were published on 10 aug 2024 alone making upto almost 5000 articles per date ,alot of these articles were almost identical and only 6% factual .During period ( 7 Aug- 15 SEP ) most articles were written in earlier dates.

Top media houses which include JTBC ,Dong -A ,X -spots ,Ten Asia ,Yonhap ,Top star shaped public opinion ( by sharing fake CCTV footages and other misinformation) with this much reporting and while neglecting the imp cases or issues such as deepfake etc but even with this much reporting media failed to teach public and authorities about these E- scooters and rules , regulations about their usage and classification because even the Head of Urban Transportation Office couldn't recognise which scooter was suga using when shown picture ,so people clearly need to be educated.

By this post I am not defending crimes or saying DUIs are nothing , the problem is if DUI is so worse in Korea then all the other DUI cases should be treated like this too but they were solved in one or two weeks,got almost no media coverage,no tabloids articles written,no blogs mentioning those cases,no fake information and the media and witch hunt happened only in this case.If this is fair treatment and a standard for how a criminal and DUI case is handled why I am unable to see the same for other cases which were worse where there was property damage ,car involvement .If crime and law is important every citizen should be treated equally just because they are BTS it doesn't mean that they have to tolerate this much . Journalists ,blogs ,media dont have to treat BTS like this and this is without antis which also contributed a lot ( by creating fake DUI challenges ,sending funeral wreath etc which is still happening to even this date).

The last time I wrote fanfic, it was canon characters or OC’s - which is what both Gold Rush and Chiffon (my first) are written in. So in order to try out the format I started with Marcus and what is now the Sweet Jane series. I have plans for those two, I have how they met mapped out in my head, that I hope to explore soon!

This was another nerve wracking foray - reader insert Joel and because it was a challenge to write Joel with someone other than my OC. It started as a one-shot, that then was three parts, then four and finally finished at five. It’s also the only series I’ve managed to complete 😆. I’m so proud of this one, it has a special place in my heart - this is the ending Joel deserves, living on a little farmhouse being taken care of and a reluctant chicken dad.

This was a late night epiphany - where I realised that I was trying to force writing and make my two OG series’ fit into more palatable moulds for others consumption rather than writing the story I wanted. It’s also a good reminder that it’s okay to take a break from something that isn’t currently serving you. If you come back to it two day later, two weeks later or never - it’s okay. You’re not beholden to anyone. This is all supposed to be fun first and foremost, if you’re not having fun then it may be time to step back and re-evaluate.

I still get sad when I think about this piece. Like real sad. I don’t know if I could write something like this again now - or ever. I was well and truly in my feels with this one. I made the decision to watch a walkthrough of all the cut scenes of TLOU2 and it broke me. I knew what was coming, but knowing and watching were two different things. I do like that I left this one open to interpretation - meaning I can revisit one day if I want, so who knows.

Herd immunity occurs when enough people have immunity so that most infected people cannot find new uninfected people to infect, leading to the end of the epidemic/pandemic. The Great Barrington Declaration (GBD) was premised on the idea that the mass infection of unvaccinated “not vulnerable” people would end the pandemic. For it to have “worked”, 330 million Americans would have had to determine whether they were “vulnerable” or “not vulnerable” and then been willing to play their assigned role. That didn’t happen. In a previous article, I explained that for that reason, we don’t have to wonder if the GBD could have worked, in the real world it failed. However, this was not the only thing what actually went wrong with the GBD.

With this in mind, let’s turn to the concept of herd immunity.

What is herd immunity?

Herd immunity occurs when enough people have immunity so that most infected people cannot find new uninfected people to infect, leading to the end of the epidemic/pandemic.

That reasonable statement comes from the GBD itself. Even though SARS-CoV-2 was less than a year old when the GBD was written, its authors were certain that the simultaneous infection of 230 million unvaccinated, “not vulnerable” people would lead to herd immunity, protecting more “vulnerable” people. They said:

When herd immunity is reached, they (vulnerable people) can live normally again with minimal risks… If focused protection is used, it will likely only take 3 to 6 months.

In 2020, the GBD used the universally accepted definition of herd immunity. They discussed it with regards to new infections and the risk the virus posed to those without immunity to it. Herd immunity occurs when enough people have immunity so that most infected people cannot find new uninfected people to infect, leading to the end of the epidemic/pandemic. This wasn’t controversial at all. Everyone agreed with it.

While the GBD’s definition of herd immunity wasn’t in dispute, many people wisely doubted whether natural immunity alone could lead to herd immunity in under 6-months. Because babies aren’t born with natural immunity, humanity never achieved herd immunity to any virus through infections alone. Only vaccines can lead to herd immunity. Prior to the vaccine, for example, measles cases would rise and fall every couple of years as a new crop of newborns were infected. Herd immunity didn’t arise until the vaccine arrived and measles cases plummeted. There have been 214 cases this year, which is 214 too many, but thanks to herd immunity from the vaccine, measles cases are not rising exponentially. We will lose herd immunity if not enough children are vaccinated.

It is also not possible to reach herd immunity for a virus/vaccine that does not create durable immunity. Unfortunately, neither SARS-CoV-2 nor the vaccine does this, and reinfections were discussed by doctors in the mainstream media as early as September 2020, specifically in response to Dr. Scott Atlas’s pleas for herd immunity through mass infection. Thanks to @evita-shelby for sharing this link so that I was able to do this top 10 list too - I was sad when I didn’t see the option for seeing my year in review, but love that I was able to see which 10 fics were my most seen/liked for 2023.

I studied Islam, Arabic, Middle Eastern history, Israel, Palestine, and LGBTQ+ rights for 2 years in graduate school. My focus was all over the place, for sure, but it means I have a lot of knowledge that I can offer on this stuff. I am w h i t e and not Muslim. I am both queer and transgender. This is something I'm incredibly invested in, so please enjoy this infodump.

The idea that queer and trans folks aren't welcome in Palestine is absolutely false. Multiple Gazans have talked about having trans or queer neighbors or friends and not blinking an eye. Obviously, mileage varies based on who you run into... just like it does in the good old US of A.

And? LGBTQ+ identities were openly and freely embraced before colonization fucked it up. Whether it's recent history or pre-colonization, this has been researched and well-documented.

This is just one reason why, when we have folks like Tom Daley calling for a ban on Olympians from countries who have both a history of experiencing colonization violence and struggling to undo that RE LGBTQ+ rights, it pisses me the fuck off.

If you do not know the history or the context, you're doing everyone a disservice.

Whether it's in Africa or the Middle East, w h i t e colonizers act like we're so much better than these countries - countries that did not generally have homophobia or transphobia until we entered and fucked them up.

Instead, we view them as "barbaric" and "savage" and all the other racist buzzwords.

Victoria Kishoiyian wrote a bit about this, specifically focused on Africa, for the Harvard Political Review in 2022:

CTS A | Week 5 Growth Mindset

A1. I think having a growth mindset is changing perspectives. “Shifting perspectives can help you thwart automatic thoughts and navigate situations with a balanced outlook. It also gives you the chance to unpack your biases, develop a growth mindset, and even reinvent yourself as a more positive person.”(Perry). I believe the most important thing is maintaining a positive mindset, especially in challenging situations. When I face difficulties, I always try to see them as opportunities for growth. In today’s class, I tried drawing with my left hand. It felt really uncomfortable at first, but then I thought, 'if I used my left hand to draw, I might create unique drawings that don't usually come out.' That shift in perspective made the experience more enjoyable for me. Understanding and accepting my situation while approaching it with positivity and an open mind.

A2. I redesigned the I Jooz logo, and my favorite design is this drawing.

 I used the letters "I" and "J" to form the shape of a cup, giving customers the impression of a juice brand. 

What I don’t like is this drawing. 

It’s just the words "I Jooz" written plainly. I created it while exploring different ways to write the logo, but it doesn't fit the brand's vibe and is hard to read, so I consider it a weak design. However, through this process of trying different approaches, I came up with the idea to form the cup shape with the letters. "Every failed attempt gives you an idea of what doesn’t work and what should work."(Maxwell). If I hadn’t tried out the simple design, I might not have discovered the one I really liked.

AuDHD Annotated Bibliography as of fall 2024. MH

Methodology

The purpose of this annotated bibliography is primarily to broaden the understanding of AuDHD literature and media that is publicly accessible for myself and other interested peeps. The formatting style originates from MLA with some differences based on my own preferences (and the fact I’m not in academia anymore so this is not being graded or peer reviewed). Organization of this AB has also been changed to my personal preferences.

I also want to say that this AB’s focus is primarily research/expression for adults. Some of the content is primarily for adults diagnosed/discovered their neurodiversity later in life. I acknowledge that there is a lot of content on social media (Instagram, tiktok, etm.) but I do not consider these sources to be open access because many of them require an account to view media and the rules around what content is allowed seems to be mercurial.

They use multimedia – pictures, videos, as well as written. The venn diagram is not as good as Dr. Neff’s. Explanation of co-occurrances between ADHD and autism does not feel fleshed out. *they do not cite the studies they discuss in the section of how pregnancy could be connected to autism.

I appreciated that under treatment approaches they say expressly “Please know that the goal of behavior therapy must NOT be to turn you into a neurotypical person. It is to help you find ways to cope while living in an allistic world and be TRUE TO YOURSELF!” [italics in original].

*Clarified that autism and adhd could not be dual diagnosis until publication of DSM 5 which acknowledges the wide range of symptoms clients can experience.

This article discusses the gendered omission of women and girls from autism and adhd diagnoses and the theoretical and practical implications of the co-occuring conditions. This research aims to “bridge the gap” since previously late diagnosed ADHD and late diagnosed autism have been researched but not both together.

This study was among 6 participants who were white women between the ages of 34-55 in the UK. Two had PhDs, four worked full-time and two were unemployed. The study used Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and interviews were conducted via email, which was a much more autistic-friendly approach.

Some women identified being weird and also having to perform femininity, learning to be social was considered important but could be somewhat overlooked if the woman performed well in school. Women internalized their experiences and masked for normalcy as well as femininity. Some said that due to autistic inability to read social queues or adhd inattention to situations could lead to bullying and later SA. Gendered masking weighed heavily on women due to sensory sensitivities such as wearing bras, high heels, and other clothes they wore to mimic other women’s style of dress. One woman said that she had trouble advocating for herself, her coworkers and boss did not see her struggles so it felt like a burden to let others around her know that she was not doing well. All participants said being undiagnosed was a traumatizing experience, that they knew they were different but not knowing why led to negative self judgement. The women also said that there was a lack of post-diagnosis support, leaving them to process the information by themselves.

*I liked that it touched on - barriers around AuDHD includes lack of descriptive language to this day. Women are often dismissed when trying to get diagnosed and are diagnosed later than men. A woman with a diagnosis often dismissed when she states that she is AuDHD or otherwise neurodivergent.

The conclusion of this article (that was most interesting to me) was that social difficulties are subtly different between people with ADHD and people with Autism. The subset of individuals with AuDHD they include because of their own interest and the authors note that the group with AuDHD is very small as a limitation.

KYIV, Aug 23 (Reuters) - India's Narendra Modi urged President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday to sit down for talks with Russia to end the war in Ukraine and offered to act as a friend to help bring peace as the two leaders met in wartime Kyiv.

The first visit by an Indian prime minister in modern Ukrainian history came at a volatile juncture in the war launched by Russia in February 2022. Moscow is making slow gains in eastern Ukraine as Kyiv presses a cross-border incursion.

The optics closely resembled the Indian leader's visit to Moscow last month where he called for peace and embraced Russian President Vladimir Putin, angering Ukraine, where a Russian missile strike hit a children's hospital on the same day.

"The road to resolution can only be found through dialogue and diplomacy. And we should move in that direction without wasting any time. Both sides should sit together to find a way out of this crisis," Modi said in Kyiv.

"I want to assure you that India is ready to play an active role in any efforts towards peace. If I can play any role in this personally, I will do that, I want to assure you as a friend," he said.

It was not immediately clear what Kyiv made of his remarks and whether they were part of a diplomatic push taking place behind closed doors with a November presidential election looming in the United States, a close ally of Ukraine.

Speaking later on Friday in his regular address to the nation after the visit had ended, Zelenskiy said it is "important to us that India remains committed to international law and supports our sovereignty and territorial integrity".

He also said he appreciated that Modi had begun the visit by paying tribute to the children killed in the July hospital strike.

India, which traditionally has close economic and defence relations with Moscow, has publicly criticised the deaths of innocent people in the war, but also strengthened its economic ties with Moscow.

Both leaders described Modi's visit as "historic" in their statements during their meeting, in which Modi spoke second and Zelenskiy had no opportunity to respond to the call for dialogue.

Zelenskiy said that "the matter of ending the war and a just peace are the priority for Ukraine".

Ukraine has repeatedly said it wants the war to end but on Kyiv's terms, not Russia's. Ukraine has been pushing to hold a second international summit later this year to advance its vision of peace and involve representatives from Russia.

The first summit, held in Switzerland in June, pointedly excluded Russia, while attracting scores of delegations, including one from India, but not from China, the world's second largest economy. Zelenskiy urged Modi to sign the summit's communique, which India has not done.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that talks were out of the question after Ukraine launched its incursion into Russia's Kursk region on Aug. 6.

Kyiv's top commander has touted the capture of almost 100 settlements in the assault, part of what military analysts see as an attempt to divert Russian troops from eastern Ukraine where Moscow's forces are making gains.

'CERTAIN INFLUENCE'

Modi's visit to Moscow prompted Zelenskiy to criticise the Indian prime minister when the trip coincided with the missile strike that hit a children's hospital in Kyiv.

As he welcomed Modi to the Mariinskyi presidential palace in Kyiv, Zelenskiy embraced him with a frowning expression before they began talks. Modi issued renewed condolences over the missile strike on X in a post written in Ukrainian.

"Conflict is particularly devastating for young children. My heart goes out to the families of children who lost their lives, and I pray that they find the strength to endure their grief," the post said.

In the run-up to the visit, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser in Zelenskiy's office, told Reuters it was significant because New Delhi "really has a certain influence" over Moscow.
