Este 2 de abril 2023, descubre la música de Kizaba, artista de la República Democrática del Congo, en el scenario del Parque del Festival WOMAD Chile a las 21:30 hrs. Cantautor y multiinstrumentista, Lionel Kizaba es un pionero de la música electrónica afro congoleña, radicado en Montreal (Canadá), que canta en francés, inglés, kikongo y lingala. Su espectáculo se plantea como un “viaje afro futurista” para el cual crea vocalizaciones inspiradas en sus ancestros y mezcla sonidos del soukous congoleño, afrobeat y pop rock. En el escenario, usa su voz, batería y percusión, combinando música electrónica y sonidos tradicionales del Congo para crear un universo particular. ‍La potencia musical se incrementa a través de su puesta en escena, en un diseño de atmósfera cautivador para la singular experiencia que podremos disfrutar en WOMAD Chile 2023.

The promotion of a K-pop event taking place in Israel ahead of a state-sponsored festival in South Korea has sparked outrage and calls for boycott from fans of the genre, who are accusing Seoul of "artwashing genocide".  The K-Pop World Festival, an annual Korean pop talent competition hosted by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), is an initiative that utilises the popularity of Korean culture - commonly referred to as the "Korean wave" - to promote the country globally. Korean embassies around the world are responsible for organising a preliminary regional round, and selected finalists then make their way to the stage in South Korea. After the South Korean embassy in Israel started promoting tickets for the 15 July auditions, K-pop fans took to social media in anger and called for boycotts with the hashtags #KpopFestivalOutWithZionism and #NoToArtwashingInKpop. "Artwashing in the middle of a genocide is a new fucking low, even for KBS. Participants and guest performers will never wash off this stain," posted one user on X, formerly Twitter, referring to the use of art and artists by groups to distract from or gloss over rights violations.

2/14/25 Writing Challenge Poem: Annoy/Holiday

Defiance comes at a cost I pay happily, If it means my intrepid comrades remain annoyed, I accept it. Because I do not live my life in falsehoods, even as I craft reality, Surely I’ll return to reprimands and a scolding if not a full on fit. The sweetness of your smile and crumbs of mooncake on your lips, Lighting lanterns for our lost mothers making strangers into Family, Guiding a Dancing Dream through dark barrows into my hand his slips, Commandeering gondolas and making love beneath a starlit tapestry, Every moment I manage to steal, to draw out with my Prince is worth any price. This elaborate ruse of our affair being anything but right is grating, But festivals like these remind us of what makes it worth the sacrifice. That in time we will not be confined to secrecy and enjoy this celebrating. Every holiday festival is brighter, when wrapped within your arms, And every dream feels closer when you promise me you’re mine, In your love I lose myself, not blinded by the surface level charms, One day I will make this world ours as one, like when our souls entwine.

No but hear me out on what would happen during Jewel’s dream you guys -

I suck at writing don’t judge me!

Everybody finds themselves in a strange setting, filled with faces of people they’ve never met. But one stood out. Amongst the crowd of people, who laughed, danced and cheered, stood Jewel, smiling so bright they almost forgot what was happening.

The moment they stepped forward they too were dragged into the festive crowd. Twist and turns each one went, until they realized what was going on. It wasn’t just Jewels dream, that caught them by surprise, but that this was her life back in her own world.

“You guys made it! I was worried you were lost!” She laughed as the tried to drag them along with her.

It was the happiest most of them had seen her, but they had to pull her out of her dream. “Jewel this isn’t real!” Their voices echoed, and her smile faltered slightly.

She laughed lightly tugged at their sleeves again. “Cmon guys… let me introduce you to everyone!”

“Jewel… this isn’t real… they aren’t here…”

She stopped trying to drag them along, frozen in her place in front of them. She knew. Deep down, a part of her was screaming in her mind that none of it was real. That this wasn’t her real family. Still she wanted to cling onto the illusion of them. Her fist clenching as she stared angrily at them with tears beginning to weld up in her eyes. Any sign of the happiness she was beaming with slipped away.

“Can’t you guys just let me be! Go away!” She yelled, unsure herself why she was getting so angry with her friends. She wasn’t angry at them, no, but all the pent up anger she hid for so long suddenly started to unleash itself on them.

“Jewel they’re-“

“I KNOW THEY’RE NOT REAL!! But they’re here…” her voiced strain as her tears began to fall, her body trembling with the cruel reminder that she would never see her family again. Turning to look back at the illusion that was her home, she sobbed. She didn’t want this dream to end. She wanted to stay, she wanted them to stay, even if it wasn’t real.

“Please… don’t make them leave…”

“NHK WORLD – JAPAN MUSIC FESTIVAL” ~ Magia

Today is the broadcast day of "Japan Music Festival". The first broadcast was a couple of hours ago so fans of already uploaded some footage online. Find the performance of "Magia" HERE on Bilibili. YK's entire appearance can be watched HERE.

Yuki Kajiura performs a special medley, including the main theme of Kimetsu no Yaiba, and (!!!)Magia(!!!) [featuring Hikaru!], the theme song to Puella Magi Madoka Magica, along with SOUKYUU NO FANFARE, the 10th anniversary theme song for Sword Art Online featuring special guests ASCA and ReoNA.

The next live broadcast on the official website is about to start in 20 minutes so be sure to tune in. The video will also be available on demand (free) for a couple of months so it will be possible to watch it as many times as you like.

Thoughts: Waaaaahhhh, Magia sounded amazing. I am so HYPED!!! Wish it had been longer T_T The main theme of Kimtesu no Yaiba was also a nice treat, I love Keiko SO MUCH in that song.
