Antiquated Brindleton

An 1890s Decades Challenge Save File

This save has been almost a year in the making, but it's finally here! It includes a completely rebuilt Brindleton Bay inspired by historic New England towns and set in the 1890s. This save uses a light amount of historical cc and most of the packs.

Includes:

Eight new residential lots

Seven new community lots

Six new households

Builds and households are all located in Brindleton Bay. The world is intended to be historically accurate to about 1890, though some liberties for functionality have been taken.

Builds in other worlds have been deleted. The necessary buildings, like dorms, active career lots, and the high school, have all been left in place.

Townies have been evicted, but not deleted, as I prefer EA townies to fully randomized townies.

If you’d like more period appropriate townies to add, the lovely @jewishsimming has some great historical ones to download and @cowplant-snacks has an amazing tutorial on how to manage your townies with MCCC.

REQUIREMENTS: I have all the packs except Batuu and some of the kits. I didn’t limit myself when building. I don’t have everything listed out here, but I will be uploading all the lots and households to my gallery, so if you’d like to know specific pack usage you’ll be able to check there. If you load in and things are replaced or missing and you think it looks obvious feel free to message me, I’m always happy to try to help you find something else that fits! This save includes historical CC, some is included in my download in folders and some you will need to download from the creators directly. The CC required is listed and linked below, you need to download these linked pieces in ADDITION to the included cc folders.

DOWNLOAD: There are five zipped folders to download, four of which contain included cc, and one which includes the save itself.

Download the "AB_SaveFile" folder, unzip it and simply move the file inside to your saves folder inside your Sims 4 folder (where your mods folder is located).

The included cc is in four folders (to allow for easier upload/download) for build, buy, clothing, and hair. Simply download the folders, unzip them, and place them in your mods folder.

After this you should be good to load up your game and get playing, let me know if you run into any issues, I'm happy to try to troubleshoot. portsim is a small city in the south. it was established as a town in 1752, and the current population is 97,915. it's full of history and has a lot of culture. with increasing poverty rates, gang violence, and a drug epidemic, crime is at an all time high. will the city’s new mayor be able to make portsim a safer place?

4 months in the making and it’s finally here! huge thank you to everyone that’s been following me through the process. ♡ y’all are so kind and supportive and i really appreciate all the love. this was originally going to be a personal save, it’s inspired by my hometown (portsmouth, virginia) most builds are based off real places around me, and some households are based off my friends and family. this is very much still personal to me!

willow creek, newcrest, and magnolia promenade have been rebuilt, repopulated, and transformed into one large town

i own all packs and kits, if you don't you can still play this save but build and cas objects will be missing

21 residential lots / 19 community lots - please read community lot descriptions because most are multi functional! i also left some empty commercial spaces that are “for lease” so i can add things as new packs come out

added new holidays - i changed names to be more realistic and added a few (spring cleaning day, easter, independence day, halloween, christmas eve)

added 5 new clubs (city officials, a gang, a cult, a record label, painting classes by a townie)

i’ve never made a save file before, and this is just the first version. please let me know if you run into any issues. i want to eventually add more households, and i also want to add + rebuild other worlds

i highly suggest turning the eco lifestyle ep’s eco foot print + npc voting off, unless you want the town to look apocalyptic and the trinity church community space to be set to the winter version during summer etc

i turned neighborhood stories off, but sims were still adopting babies and divorcing each other so i kept them all in the my households tab, you don’t have to keep them there!

shoutout to @cowplant-snacks and @nightlioness for letting me use some of their sims as background townies so there's not as many ugly npcs

Welcome to The Bee Save!

This is a total redesign of the Sims 4 worlds and townies. The lots come in new and interesting architectural styles not explored in the base world, and the sims inhabiting them are stylish and have full personalities. New world descriptions, community lots (a bowling alley! an ice rink/diner! a movie theater!), and everything else you would want when you open up the game. It also includes plenty of multi-generational families spread across the worlds.

This is a pack-integrated save file: All packs (except Journey to Batuu and the dust kit) are utilized across the worlds. There are eco-friendly and industrial neighborhoods outside of Evergreen Harbor, lifestyles outside of Mt. Komorebi, vet clinics outside of Brindleton Bay, and more. Because of this, items or CAS details may be replaced or deleted by the game if you do not have all the packs.

Version 2.0 Changes

The hospital, police station, and science lab are all built now. If you want to download them for previous saves using this file, they are on the gallery. Username is the same as my Patreon.

No more kleptomaniacs...because apparently they just steal stuff.

DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS:

To download, simply place the attached file in your saves folder. THIS IS NOT A MOD; IT DOES NOT GO IN YOUR MODS FOLDER. Read it, then read it again if you aren't familiar with downloading custom saves. If you already have the same slot filled, you can rename it to a later number as long as it has the same amount of digits. You may have to scroll down when you open the game and hit 'load game' in order to find it.

Remember to adjust your gameplay settings when you start up. As it is, the save file has autonomy and aging off.

Please note: This is an integrated pack file. If you do not have certain packs, certain CAS items and objects will not appear.

Sometimes my screenshots even make it to the other world. I'm into bookbinding and made a new cover for my tarot book. (out of old wallpapers, amazon packaging, coffee dyed printer paper and tomato paste tubes ^^').

I took this screenshot of Dtui, Rita and Francine (our three witches) for the cover ;)

On the library card you can see that they all borrowed the book from the 'Men of Letters' library (from Supernatural) which I rebuilt in Sims 4 in my 'Wolves of Letters' bunker.

Jules and Francine (Jeb's grandmother) are a couple for a while and it seems they both did a tarot reading on their relationship. How sweet <3

so, i watched the jenny nicholson video on the star wars hotel and something that's kind of insane to me (and that i don't think i've seen anyone talk about, ever) is that almost all the points of criticism of the star wars hotel and the star wars land in disney world are the exact same complaints that people had of the star wars game pack for the sims 4.

i guess there just isn't a huge overlap between theme park fans and sims players, who'd have thought.

but when that pack came out it was one of the few packs that for once didn't cause controversy because it introduced game breaking bugs—but because everything you can do in it feels like menial busywork.

the game rebuilt the star wars section of disney world to a t and all you can do there, just like in real life, is scan things around the environment and hack into crates.

you also get to do fetch quests that repeat over and over again to gain reputation points with the different factions, just like you do on that disney app.

and even influencers who were sponsored by ea and usually only have good things to say about each and every dlc couldn't hide how much they hated it. even today you can go on the sims gallery and the first suggestions you get with the tag #journeyto are journey to boredom instead of batuu.

so the star wars land opened in 2019 and the sims pack came out in 2020 and both times the gameplay consisting of "busywork where you go back and forth between set dressing and scan crates" fell completely flat. with two completely different audiences.

and i just can't wrap my head around why disney still decided to go ahead and open a luxury hotel where you do the same thing over and over again and expected a different outcome.

My goal with this save was to provide a new take on this version of the game. There will be EXTENSIVE lore in the final version of the save file, but it's coming out in pieces along with the newly created worlds. I hope you enjoy it, happy Simming!

So now that the laptop has been repaired and returned, I've been very happily updating and backing up everything again. When I reached the point of doing anything with The Sims 4 yesterday, I found myself thinking about how, prior to going down to Toronto, I was considering resetting TS4 entirely so it was back in a default state, and starting over from scratch. Which I felt even more like doing as I was playing my most recent sim at a horse ranch and just... not really enjoying it. And then during the couple weeks of waiting for the repair, not knowing if I'd have to reinstall all my programs or not, I found myself thinking "...I could just not restore my saves game for that" and kind of liking the idea. Among other things, it'll allow me to tweak the MCCC settings to (hopefully) prevent the pruning of family trees, so I'll always be able to see how they interconnect.

So, yesterday afternoon I moved my TS4 directory off to a backup location, which forced the game to recreate the save game files from scratch. Reinstalled my preferred mods. And created a new starter sim, Teresa Abbotsford.

Once I was able to get in-game and go to Manage Worlds, I also dug around on the Galery to re-obtain the MaxisCreates TS4 versions of the Grunt, Spectre, Curious, and Smith families from TS2, as well as a reasonably decent version of the Beakers (whom MaxisCreates seems to have missed). Also grabbed versions of their houses that different people created (mostly the versions by XQueenOfHe4rtsX). Decided to squeeze them all into StrangerVille, as it vibes the closest with the old Strangetown, though for reasons of space the Smiths have ended up over in Oasis Springs instead. I've done some minimal editing to the houses, mostly things like replacing observatories with telescopes, or tweaking some of the wall textures. The Curious brothers' house came with a bonus structure in one corner of the lot that had a lot of the scientific equipment available in-game, with a rocket kit staging area on the roof. I moved and rebuilt that slightly so that it fits into the layout of where the lot is in-game a little better (mostly just rotating it 90 degrees and changing it from a fenced-in area to an actual outbuilding).

And I built a starter house for Teresa. She's beginning the family line in San Sequoia, a neighbourhood I haven't had anyone playable live in yet, since there was a nice 20x40 empty lot there that gives her plenty of elbow room to grow. Literally - she's in the gardener career and has the Freelance Botanist nature aspiration. Though I think I need to rotate the house; it fits better on the lot facing the short end, but the zone-in point is partway along one of the long edges. But I digress.

Her house is currently pretty minimally furnished, though that's slowly improving over time. She has the option of working from home with her current job, and since the tasks required for that tend to take very little time (read a book, research gardening on the computer, give someone produce from your garden) I've mostly been choosing that and spending a lot of her time working on assorted skills and going out and about to meet people. I'm playing her as a much more gregarious sim than I usually do, as a result of which she's been following up on a lot of invitations to attend events, go on dates, and go out dinner as friends. She's also joined the Partihouse social club, where she's finally met someone she clicks with who isn't already married or engaged - Paolo Rocca, one of the Partihouse household members.

I think the main thing I may work on the next few play sessions is things like editing commercial lots so I that like them better, making sure all marriage venues have washrooms, adding houses to Newcrest (since by default it's entirely empty lots), and the like. Basically re-doing some of the changes I'd made over the years.

The Haunted Chocolatier Challenge

I'm obviously excited for the next installment from ConcernedApe so I decided to make a mini challenge out of the information we have so far.

The rules are whatever you want. Money and skill cheats kind of defeat the purpose though.

Your goal is rag to riches a restaurant based on specific food types each generation.

I demolished the entire Moonwood Mill world and rebuilt it with some residential rental homes for spouses and townies. Made the library a restauraunt lot, and the others I either turned into community gardens or community lots in general. I felt like the world gave haunted vibes and demolishing everything made it feel fresh. I moved my founder onto an empty lot in the world and it was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy this silly little challenge too!

The Founder:

Any gender young adult sim.

Foodie trait and any others you'd like

Food aspiration of your choosing or fortune.

I gave mine the name Alaska Bake (after baked alaska)

A Guide to The Sims 4 Save Files

Are you tired of your game looking the same way every time you start a new save? Same old, boring looking EA-built houses, EA-made families and lack of interesting story lines...

Well, then a save file might be exactly what you're looking for to spice up your game!

In this post I'll:

Teach you how to install a The Sims 4 save file

Let you know how you can create your own save file

And finally, share the save files I've been a part of.

How to install a The Sims 4 save file

The process of installing a save file to your The Sims 4 game is very simple.

Save files are usually shared on simfileshare or mediafire.

Just click the "Download" button (some websites have ads and other links, make sure you do not click on anything else to keep your computer safe).

After your download is completed, go to your Downloads folder and unzip the file. The file you'll need will usually be named something like "Slot_0000001a.save".

Generally your Sims 4 save files folder is located at: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Saves, but it can be located somewhere else if you changed it upon installing the game.

Locate your way to the Saves folder. And this is important:

Make sure to backup your old save files before installing a new one. You can do this by just copying the folder to your desktop.

Also make sure that you don't already have an existing file with the same name as the new save file (eg. "Slot_0000001a.save"). If you do, make sure to rename the new file before installing it (you can do this by changing one of the digits).

To install your new save file, all you have to do is to copy the "Slot_0000001a.save" file to your Saves folder. And you're done!

Now when you open your game and choose Load Game, you'll see your new installed save file as an option. Enjoy!

How to create your own The Sims 4 save file

Also, very simple. All you have to do is create a world, fill it with houses, new families, lore or what ever you want it to be in your own save file. Then: Save your game, and exit to the starting menu.

Click Load Game, and select your save file. Make sure to give it fitting name! Then hover over the little icon that says "Copy the save file path to the clipboard". This will tell you what the save files "Slot" name is in the Saves folder.

Go to your Saves folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Saves) and find the correct file (eg. "Slot_0000001a.save"). Copy this file and paste it to a new folder on your desktop.

Zip the folder and upload it to any file sharing platform to share your own save file with the world!

INFO:  1. I rebuilt 1st part of the castle with Great Hall, Clock Tower and two bridges - Wooden and Stone. Original lots had terrible bug and were sinking.

2. Hogsmeade settlement. I used lots from vssdgames’s Hogwarts Wizarding World. Only The Shrieking Shack is made by me. Lots are a bit modified, partially funrnished. Commercial lots are: 

city hall (with police station), theatre, nectary, hospital, art gallery,science center, library, bookstore and spa, food store, consigment store, military base, stadium, school and graveyard.

Settlement features 10 houses for your sims.

Foreword: This city is slightly rebuilt from Tariya. During the game, I identified for myself some points that I wanted to correct. By clicking on the link to the old city, you can see photos of the city and its environs.

DIFFERENCES FROM THE CITY OF TARIYA 1. Swapped the cinema and the shopping center. Now their location is more concise in relation to other buildings. Picture 1. 2. Added hostel "Tenant". Picture 2. 3. Added an abandoned house on the cliff. Picture 3. 4. Added the house of the Ordones family. Picture 4. 5. Added hunting mod. If you buy a meadow and put it in a Sim's luggage, then when choosing to hunt for example a bird, the Sim will run to one of the stones. Circled in the picture are the places where the stones for hunting are placed. Picture 5. 6. Rebuilt some areas.
