coffee caffeine: steady, reliable, even refined. a complex profile. not overly aggressive, it displays a polite restraint rarely seen in stimulants
red bull caffeine: hypnotically european. sharp, crisp. a drink with a superiority complex. every word spoken to you is heard somehow in clean, grotesque fonts. you speak a bit of german now. sudden interest in formula 1 and rallycross.
monster caffeine: hypnotically american. you just bought a gopro. you’re talking too loud at parties. is that an affliction t shirt youre wearing? no… you wouldn’t… sudden interest in snowboarding and bmx
nos: this is not sustainable. you should quit now, while you’re ahead. the world is dark, but there is beauty left, in the rare corners and in guarded secrets. you must never forget that. hold your heart close, and remember there is life to live beyond the gleaming blue cannister.

I picked my poison 😈
Rally racing I choose you!!!!!
so, let's start with some context.
rally is a type of racing defined by sharp turns, mixed road surfaces, and narrow, technical racecourses. it's split into two categories, stage rally and rallycross, with the big-name series for each being the World Rally Championship (WRC) and World Rallycross (WRX) respectively.
rallycross is the more conventional of the two, taking place on a circuit (racetrack that loops back to the starting line) built specifically to host races. there are a set number of laps, and the first driver to the finish wins. there are some other details, such as a one-way starting area outside the track where cars build up speed before entering the circuit, and whatever the fuck a Joker Lap is (i think it's a one-time shortcut per driver? idk WRX isn't my main interest)
stage rally is a bit more of a standout. in its modern form, it consists of frame-reinforced, six hundred horsepower, jacked-up hatchbacks absolutely screaming down back-country roads, paved or not, in any weather as long as drivers can see about a dozen meters ahead of themselves. here's an example of a modern WRC rally car from a few years back:
races are centered around a specific area, and are divided into "stages" (hence the name). stages are point-to-point courses on closed-off public roads, often having the edges of the track marked only by flexible plastic fencing. cars run one at a time, with the shortest time from point A to point B being the winner. each car carries a crew of two: driver and navigator. the driver, as one would assume, operates the vehicle (throttle/brakes, steering, gear changes) while the navigator holds a map of the stage and calls out "pace notes," which include the direction/sharpness of upcoming turns, road hazards such as water or jumps, and advises caution where necessary.
a major difference between rally and other forms of racing is how drivers treat loss of traction. in conventional racing, if a car loses grip, something has gone very wrong, and the driver has to immediately attempt to regain traction in order to avoid being passed. in rally, loss of traction is simply a given, and serves as a tool the driver can use for particularly technical sections of a stage.
time for more context! when a wheeled vehicle loses traction, it can either occur as an all-wheel slide, or a partial loss of traction. for partial loss, it presents as either oversteer or understeer. understeer occurs when the front wheels lose traction in a turn, resulting in the car simply continuing in a straight line (not good).
oversteer is the fun part.
you see, maneuvering in a vehicle is a matter of directional stability, and two out of four wheels losing grip results in extremes of stability. where understeer makes a car very stable in terms of where the nose is pointed, oversteer induces instability, causing the car to spin. and when horizontal grip is limited (i.e. you're driving on dirt, sand, gravel, or snow), forward grip can actually be used to steer.
by breaking the rear wheels into a slide by means of hard steering, sudden throttle input, or a hydraulic emergency brake that exclusively locks the rear wheels in place, an experienced driver can induce instability, causing the rear of the car to swing in the opposite direction the driver is turning. basically, turn sharply to the right, and the rear wheels will slide to the car's left. since the 80s, basically all rally cars have been all-wheel drive, meaning the engine sends power to all four wheels. by spinning the car to face the direction you want to go, the front wheels can then be used to course-correct, letting the driver slide sideways through a corner without letting off of the throttle while the rear wheels push the car towards the inside of the corner.
due to the benefits of managing instability, rally tends to naturally favor cars with a shorter wheelbase (distance between front and rear wheels) which have more leverage to effectively spin the car around on demand.
the technical term for this kind of maneuver is "functional oversteer," but is known more commonly as powersliding or drifting. it's basically an alternative to ordinary cornering for loose terrain. or for being stylish, if you're on pavement.
since the cars can handle losing traction, races occur regardless of things like fog, rain, snow, or time of day. this differs from pure-pavement motorsports such as Formula One or NASCAR, which only race in slight rain (with NASCAR racing exclusively in dry weather).
lemme know if you wanna hear more!

will be posting more wrc gifs later!
tbh not rly feeling f1 these past weeks (mostly bc i am not a massive fan of the circuits lately), but i will always try to make gifs. might post some later but i’m busy this weekend
ALSO: if you are interested in other motorsports, check out WRC and rallying!!
i love rally so much. got into it this year, and i am so obssessed. if you follow me here, you know that i also make wrc gifs.
there is 30% off on the wrc+ live annual pass this weekend (i think there is a 14-day trial period as well). it comes with WRC, ERC, and WRX (world rally, european rally, and world rallycross championships), so you could also get a taste of those series!
at the moment, i have only thirst-trapped a few of my friends (and maybe some followers? idk HAHA) into liking rally bc of my kalle rovanperä gifs, so it would be cool if a few more ppl hopped onto the rally train

Button mulls WEC for full-time return and would love to try NASCAR oval | World Endurance Championship
Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula 1 world champion, is looking at making a full-time return to racing next year. The 43-year-old raced in F1 between 2000 and 2017, though his final year featured just one grand prix in addition to an appearance in Japan’s Super GT sports car series. Button competed full-time in sports cars until the Covid-19 pandemic. That, along with F1 broadcasting commitments and an advisory role with the Williams F1 team, restricted him to three race outings in three years. This year Button moved into stock car racing, committing to a three-race programme in NASCAR’s top level Cup series. He also joining its Garage 56 project for the Le Mans 24 Hours alongside Mike Rockenfeller and Jimmie Johnson. Button made his NASCAR debut at COTA in March His first appearance was in March at Circuit of the Americas, where he finished 18th, then he raced a modified NASCAR car at Le Mans earlier this month. Speaking to media including RaceFans ahead of his Cup series return on the new Chicago street circuit next month, Button said his return to racing has made him hungry to scale up his efforts for 2024. “There’s lots of emotions, positive and negative, from COTA. Does it make me want to do more? Yeah,” Button said. “Road courses, yes. Ovals, I would love to try an oval one day, but it’s another world. These guys have driven ovals since they were five or six years old. So why would I be good at it? I don’t know. Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free “It’s a possibility, but it’s a lot of work and it’s already enough getting used to driving such a big car for me. And that style of racing is a big step as well. Button was also part of NASCAR’s Le Mans entry “So maybe one day. But I’m very happy and very lucky to be doing the three races that I’m doing this year. Looking forward to Chicago and then obviously Indianapolis [road course] a few weeks’ time after that.” Having sampled various forms of motorsport since retiring from F1, Button is now looking at committing to a series full-time again. “I have jumped around doing lots of different things over the years. I also raced in GTs in 2020, I did one race in the UK in the GT3, and rallycross. Basically because I’ve always wanted to race in those series, so I’ve been very lucky that I’ve been able to jump into certain cars here and there and race. “I didn’t think that I would want to do a full season again because of how busy the schedule always is, but I feel that I’ll be racing in something next year doing a full season. It’s great doing one-off races, but you don’t get the best out of yourself. “That’s why for me doing three races here in the Cup has been really good, because I get to spend time with the team, I get to spend more time in the simulator and really working with my engineer crew chief to develop the skills between us and to have a good understanding. Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free “So, yes, I want to do a full season next year. Time-permitting. I need to balance a few things, as I’ve been very busy this year. But it will be endurance racing, which will be either IMSA or WEC.” However Button stressed he is open to further NASCAR outings. “Who knows what could happen in the future, whether it’s WEC, IMSA, or maybe some more NASCAR races. I don’t know. But I’ll definitely be leaning on Jim [France, NASCAR CEO] maybe a little bit for that.” Become a RaceFans Supporter RaceFans is run thanks in part to the generous support of its readers. *sigh* So...as much as I want a Real but Chill experience in Project Cars 2....I think I just need more Chill than Real cos while I can sit down and study the game in full for the realistic value (especially the detailed tuning aspect of the game) most of the realism in the game I'm figuring out is for beating world record time trials and some campaign invitationals that require more finesse, which I can get to later (not the world records...i'm not gonna be that tryhard jfc).
So I've turned off the authenticity of fuel and tyre completely for now until I can really read the telemetry hud properly during practice runs as well as fix and adjust it for easier reading, turned on drive assist to suit my taste of driving (ABS is low, Stability is On, and Traction Control is low. These are usually the settings I'm familiar with in all racing games I've played so i'm sticking to it till I want a bit more of a challenge. Authentic settings in Formula A is...actually very doable, I just gotta stop flooring the gas out of corners cos umm...SPINNING REALLY SUCKS =( ).
I honestly do like the mechanical challenges and understanding the more authentic settings but eh...finding out that there's a bit more to do than I'd like right now.
I'm probably still gonna flinch and avoid the GT/Touring, Rallycross and Ice Racing tiers of cars despite my love of their design cos umm...they're a goddamn box of gravy with wheels for me ;QxQ; and drifting with this wheel needs external tweaks so I'm not wearing out the centering spring quickly.
#irrelevant babble#The bigger issue is that I'm also taking what I know from Gran Turismo 3 and 4 on the playstation 2 and umm...#yeah no it's not fully working for me to make the general adjustments that I've noticed#In time I'll get there and get better at the technical stuff#just right now ain't feelin being too technical and want to drive more than being on the engineering side of the game

After four years, it won't be the rallycross promoter, an arm of the WRC promoter, that will organize the world and European rallycross championships. According to Fia president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, “the world rallycross championship has evolved a lot with technology without losing its roots”. Fia is looking for a promoter who wants to create a very competitive championship that can attract new constructors. Initially, the 2025 calendar was scheduled to start on January 25 at Trois Rivieries in Canada on a snow track.

BP becomes the first official partner of the Audi factory F1 team
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/00d9980964ff8c89b3d0c50a60485fd5/5717a14e3ef74874-92/s540x810/0bf2ada8670f08e5ab44da80373e15f8c88ca511.webp)
Audi Canada News – Audi and BP Forge Strategic Partnership for Formula 1 2026 Debut
Audi and BP have announced an extensive new strategic partnership in preparation for Audi’s entry into Formula 1 in 2026. This move coincides with the introduction of new FIA F1 Technical Regulations emphasizing enhanced electrification and the use of Advanced Sustainable fuel. Audi and BP aim to leverage their combined technical expertise and innovative drive to shape the future of motorsport.
Co-Engineering for Maximum Performance
For almost two years, BP and its specialist lubricants business, Castrol, have been working closely with Audi to co-engineer BP fuels and Castrol lubricants to achieve maximum performance from the Audi F1 Power Unit. This collaboration includes developing the FIA-defined Advanced Sustainable fuel required by the 2026 regulations, which mandates at least a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil-derived petrol.
BP will also supply Audi with a range of bespoke Castrol lubricants and greases, including Castrol EDGE, Castrol’s most advanced engine oil, for the V6 turbo engine. The Audi F1 Power Unit’s electrical components will benefit from the Castrol ON range of EV fluids.
Long-Term Sponsorship
Building on their technical cooperation, BP has become the first official partner of the future Audi factory team in Formula 1. This long-term sponsorship deal includes marketing and branding rights for BP, Castrol, and Aral, BP’s leading fuel and retail brand in Germany.
A History of Success
Audi and BP’s collaboration in motorsport dates back to the 1980s, with Castrol products contributing to victories in every Audi motorsport factory program. This partnership began in the World Rally Championship with the Audi Quattro and extended to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours, the FIA World Rallycross Championship, the FIA Formula E World Championship, and the DTM race series. The highly efficient two-litre four-cylinder turbo engine developed by Audi and used in the DTM in 2019 and 2020 became the most successful engine in the Class 1 era of the DTM with Castrol lubricants and high-performance fuel developed by Aral.
Leadership Perspectives
Andreas Seidl, CEO of the Audi F1 team, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Audi and BP have always worked together successfully in motorsport. We are delighted that we can take this special partnership to the next level in Formula 1. Audi stands for ‘Vorsprung durch Technik,’ and BP and Castrol also aspire to deliver the best technologies in fuels and lubricants. This is a perfect match. It is a strong signal for Audi’s future F1 factory team that we have been able to establish this partnership at such an early stage. We sense the appeal of the Audi F1 Project and how many renowned companies want to work with Audi in Formula 1.”
Audi and bp join hands
Nicola Buck, SVP of Marketing at BP, echoed Seidl’s sentiments: “We are proud that Audi has once again chosen to partner with BP and Castrol, this time for their entry into Formula 1. It allows our premium brands to showcase our technical expertise at the pinnacle of motorsport. We are already making great progress with the Audi F1 Project on the development of BP fuel and Castrol lubricants as we seek to innovate and unlock maximum engine performance for the Audi F1 Power Unit from 2026.”
Adam Baker, CEO of Audi Formula Racing GmbH, highlighted the partnership’s significance: “This partnership is of great importance to us. There will be strong competition in the field of sustainable fuels in Formula 1 from 2026. Given the high-performance potential, it was important for us to start our fuel testing at the end of 2022 with BP as our partner. The combustion process is highly complex and can only be optimized by developing the engine in combination with the fuel properties. That’s why at Audi Formula Racing, where we are well advanced with Audi’s F1 power unit development, we use all three single-cylinder test benches allowed by the FIA regulations intensively for fuel development. It is impressive how many different fuel variants we have developed to date as we prepare for our 2026 race season. I am convinced that we are perfectly positioned with BP and Castrol.”
This partnership is set to make significant contributions to the development of sustainable fuels and advanced lubricants, positioning Audi and BP at the forefront of innovation in Formula 1.
