How To Handle Religious Discrimination In The Workplace
Tumblr media
Religious discrimination in the workplace can take many forms, including harassment, unequal treatment, and retaliation. It is important for employees to understand their rights and the steps they can take to address religious discrimination.
Understand your rights: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination based on religion. This includes discrimination in hiring, promotion, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Document the discrimination: Keep a record of any incidents of discrimination, including the date, time, and details of the incident. Also, document any conversations you have with your supervisor or human resources department about the discrimination.
Report the discrimination: If you feel you have been the victim of religious discrimination, report it to your supervisor or human resources department. If your employer is not responsive or if the discrimination continues, you may file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Seek support: If you are experiencing religious discrimination, it can be helpful to seek support from friends, family, or a counsellor. You can also reach out to organisations that specialise in protecting the rights of employees who have experienced discrimination.
Educate others: Religious discrimination is often a result of ignorance or misunderstandings. Educating others about the importance of respecting different religions can help create a more inclusive and respectful workplace.
In conclusion, religious discrimination is unacceptable and illegal in the workplace. Employees have the right to work in an environment free from discrimination and harassment based on their religion. If you are experiencing religious discrimination in the workplace, it is important to understand your rights and take steps to address the situation. This can include reporting the discrimination to your employer or filing a complaint with the EEOC. Additionally, seeking support and educating others can help create a more inclusive and respectful workplace.

What Are Examples Of Age Discrimination In The Workplace?
Tumblr media
Age discrimination in the workplace is a serious issue that affects mostly older workers. It occurs when an employer treats an employee differently based on their age. It can take many forms and can happen at any stage of employment, from hiring to firing. Here are some examples of age discrimination in the workplace:
Hiring discrimination: An employer refuses to hire an older candidate for a job, even though they are qualified for the position.
Promotion discrimination: An older employee is passed over for a promotion in favour of a younger candidate, even though the older employee is more qualified.
Salary discrimination: An older employee is paid less than a younger employee who has the same job and qualifications.
Harassment: An older employee is subjected to age-related comments, jokes or harassment by their colleagues or superiors.
Forced Retirement: An employer forces an older employee to retire, even though they are still able and willing to work.
Training discrimination: An employer refuses to provide training opportunities to older employees, which can limit their ability to advance in their careers.
It’s important to note that age discrimination is illegal and prohibited by federal and state laws. Employees who believe they have been the victim of age discrimination can file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or their state authority. Employers are also encouraged to create policies and procedures to prevent age discrimination in the workplace and promote age diversity in hiring and promotion.

Video of a black woman HR professional is going viral after she says “we discriminate” against Hood names. People with cultural black names are often judged by society before their experience and personalities are seen. They’re seen as “Ghetto” before they can even leave a mark. A black woman who’s a director level HR professional is under fire for saying her and her department discriminate against “Hood” sounding names. Stating that if your name has a “La” “Ka” or “iqua” in it,  “we’re judging you” She also gave a suggestion that you hide your first name and utilize your middle name. #workplacediscrimination #discrimination #racism #codeswitching https://www.instagram.com/p/CLkU1hbHWdI/?igshid=4v91ipqutm3t

Do Employers Care About Age?
Although it is not exactly legal for an employer to discriminate based on age, it happens much more frequently than most of the business world would like to admit. Discrimination in the workplace based on age is common and some organizations even make it a regular habit. Listen to the Podcast: https://smartstartmoney.podbean.com/e/employment-age-discrimination/

12 Common Types Of Discrimination In The Workplace
Tumblr media
Discrimination in the workplace can take many forms and can have a serious impact on the individuals who experience it, as well as on the overall culture of an organisation. Here are 12 common types of discrimination that can occur in the workplace:
Age discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their age. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to older workers or making age-related jokes or comments.
Gender discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their gender. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to women or making sexist jokes or comments.
Racial discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their race. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people of colour or making racist jokes or comments.
Religious discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their religious beliefs. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people of certain religions or making religious jokes or comments.
Sexual orientation discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their sexual orientation. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to LGBTQ+ individuals or making homophobic or transphobic jokes or comments.
Disability discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their disability. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people with disabilities, or not making reasonable accommodations for their needs.
National origin discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their national origin. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people of certain national origins or making jokes or comments about people’s accents or cultural backgrounds.
Pregnancy discrimination: Treating a woman unfavourably because she is pregnant or has a pregnancy-related condition. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to pregnant women or not accommodating them with reasonable accommodations.
Marital status discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their marital status. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people who are married, divorced, or single.
Political discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their political views. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people who have certain political affiliations or beliefs.
Genetic discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably because of their genetic information. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people who have a certain genetic predisposition to a certain condition.
Retaliation discrimination: Treating someone unfavourably as a form of retaliation for complaining about discrimination or harassment. This can include denying opportunities or promotions to people who have made a complaint or participating in an investigation.
It is important to note that discrimination can also occur in subtle or unconscious ways. For example, an employer may not intend to discriminate, but their hiring practices may have a disproportionate impact on certain groups of people. Additionally, it is important to note that there are laws and regulations that protect people from discrimination in the workplace. Employers have a legal responsibility to create a work environment that is free from discrimination, and employees who experience discrimination have the right to take legal action.
In conclusion, discrimination in the workplace can take many forms, and it is important for employers to be aware of the different types of discrimination and take steps to prevent it. A work environment that is free from discrimination is not only legally required, but it is also essential for creating a positive and productive culture.

my darling, cj, hello!! 9-1-1 as marvel characters or disney character 💛
Well hello, sunshine! How I’ve missed your face.
I’ve already done a 9-1-1 Marvel AU so let’s talk Disney.
Now, your girl loves her Disney so we’re going to narrow it down to Walt Disney Animated Studios Leading Characters.
Let’s go!
Bobby - Elsa (Frozen). Has a dark secret that no one in their life knows about. A family death is the inciting incident for change that causes initial stress but ultimate happiness. Perpetually tired of their family’s sh*t and having to explain very basic concepts (like: you can’t marry someone you just met, or don’t use an axe when there might be a baby in the wall). When their secret finally does surface, it’s explosive and hurts their loved ones. Ice Skating.
Bonus: Bagheera (The Jungle Book). Ends up with more immature children than he knows how to handle.
-
Athena - Esmerelda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). Fights for what she thinks is right. Thinks outside the box. There’s a softness for those she cares for and a swift kick in the nuts for those she doesn’t. Enjoys some sexy times but only when she’s in control. Has a kid who is ready to throw down at all times. Falls for the boring guy.
Bonus: Shang (Mulan). Motivated by the loss of a loved one and a desire for parental approval. Would love to kick your ass if you even try to give up the good fight.
-
Chimney - Judy Hopps (Zootopia). Big dreams in a tiny body. Smart and fast and endearingly ambitious. Makes friends everywhere just by being a decent human being. #WorkplaceDiscrimination. Big family and growing by the second but somewhat ignored by their parents. Uneasy friendship with an old bully (Tommy). Generally underestimated which proves to be an asset. Falls for a fox.
Bonus: Bernard (The Rescuers). Superstitious. Dragged into danger by his kind-of girlfriend.
-
Hen - Lilo (Lilo and Stitch). “Ohana” means family. Family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten. Sees someone she likes and immediately adopts them. The definition of Chaotic Good energy. Will bite a bitch because she deserves it. Struggles to keep her family together (and kind of messes it up). Will go to the ends of the earth for her found family. Mistakes are forgiven, your past is your own, she just loves you now.
Bonus: Nala (The Lion King). An endearing troublemaker and a serious but kind-hearted rebel who fights for what’s right.
-
Buck - Jim Hawkins (Treasure Planet). Comes from a broken family but no matter what, there was an older female family member he could always rely on. Adventurous and rebellious to the point of destruction. Finds a guiding hand in a mentor who isn’t perfect but loves him like a son. Uses his skills to save people and do good. Previous hair choices we don’t like to talk about.
Bonus: Hercules (Hercules). Falls for an older woman. Knows less about the world than his muscles would suggest. Has headbutt a horse.
-
Eddie - Eric (The Little Mermaid). Struggles to find a balance between duty and desire. A traditional beauty with a booty and dark, flowing locks. Relies heavily on the advice of his elders. Humble and kind. Abhors the spotlight despite his profession/nobility. Loves doing reckless things if it means saving others. Kind of a dumbass but in a mature way...somehow - like you don’t notice it right away.
Bonus: Tiana (The Princess and the Frog). Driven by duty and hard work and yet, somehow, veers straight into danger with another dumbass.
-
Maddie - Wendy (Peter Pan). Placed into a maternal position way too young, but she loves her brother(s) and will do anything to care for those in her charge. Kind and curious and maybe a little judgmental, but look at the people she spends time with. Seems helpless but in the face of real danger, she will throw down. She is also completely unafraid to stand up for herself in any situation.
Bonus: Rapunzel (Tangled). Escapes an abusive relationship. Has definitely hit her boyfriend with a frying pan.
-
Michael - Pacha (The Emperor’s New Groove). Constantly getting pulled into other people’s sh*t but eventually finds it very fun. Loves his family more than anything. If he can teach you a lesson and judge you while doing it, he absolutely will. Almost loses everything but ends up gaining something special because two people are trapped together for an indeterminate amount of time.
Bonus: Pongo (101 Dalmatians). Weird meet-cute. Will fight for his family but not, like, directly.
