TO SUMMARIZE !
born in the bustling city of sydney, australia, taerin is the daughter of south korean immigrants who settled in the country a few years prior to starting their family — the patriarch of the family worked as an accountant, while her mother managed a café in their neighbourhood.
her childhood was typical of that of the average young kid in australia, but at the age of five, her father ran off with a woman he worked with ( who they later found out was pregnant ) and moved to across the country to be with his mistress and raise their baby. it was a complete and utter shock for their family. it was incredibly hard on her mother, as well as her older sibling. at the time, taerin was a little too young to understand it, but the sudden and unexpected loss of her dad was confusing and it weighed down on her heavily. they had little contact with him, except for a call on birthdays and christmas. it was that way for a few years before the calls stopped.
she always struggled with that, because prior to her dad leaving, she was so close to him. his little princess, but as she got older, that sadness turned into anger. knowing he had a child out there, her half-sibling, stung her because it left her wondering what was wrong with their family? did she do something wrong? she wanted to know why he did what he did, but in all honesty, she was afraid of the answer.
at the age of nineteen, she packed her bags to move to london after securing a spot at the royal ballet academy — something she had been dreaming of since she was a kid. ballet was her passion, the love of her life. she sees it as her purpose and it took her pure blood, sweat and tears to get to where she is today: prima ballerina.
while she takes her craft incredibly seriously, she’s so meticulous about staying dedicated and in the perfect shape — the rest of her life is a mess. she parties a little more than she should, searches for approval & adoration in every lover… self-destruction seems to be her forte.
all in all, she’s a sweetheart — the type of person who can make friends with everyone. for some, she’s a little too over-the-top and outgoing, but she really does mean well.

Top 5 Group Activities in Melbourne to Strengthen Teams
Fun team building activities in Melbourne are a great way to help strengthen teams. They allow participants to step out of their comfort zones and build new relationships. They also provide Managers with an insight into their people that they might not see in the workplace.
Whether it’s unwinding with a Gold Class cinema experience or taking on a group cooking class, Team Days have an extensive range of melbourne group activities.
Short Film Fest
If you’re an aspiring filmmaker, participating in a short film festival can be an invaluable experience. Not only will you be able to see what others are making, but you’ll also have the chance to meet people who can help you make your own films. The best part is that you’ll have a chance to win an award for your work, which will be a big boost to your career.
The first step is to find a festival that is open to submissions and submit your film. Then you’ll need to check if the festival has an entry fee and what their requirements are. For example, some festivals require a signed release form from the director and a video file.
Short film festivals are the perfect place to get your film seen by a large audience. Unlike big-budget feature films, most short films are independently funded and don’t have huge stars attached to them. This gives them more freedom to tell unique stories.

Alternatively, head to Melbourne’s park and beach areas for some old-fashioned team bonding with boating, kitesurfing, and cricket or soccer. Or challenge yourselves with high-ropes courses, a thrilling scavenger hunt or a bungy jump for the more daring. You can even test your head for heights with a ride on the Melbourne Skydeck. Just remember to bring your Myki card!
Amazing Race

2 weird, low sleep days. On Friday we had my (unofficial) work Christmas party and they apparently didn't have vegetarian food at the venue - and also didn't provide the food that everyone else had originally paid for. The other vegetarian and I got a bowl of plain boiled veggies and chips for dinner... but the drinking and hanging out was nice, it was my first out of work function since I've been at this job (2.5 years 😮) so it was definitely about time.
Yesterday we went to see a dinosaur exhibition (for Chris, who loves dinosaurs), and then had a Christmas dinner with a couple of friends. My dinner was a plate of roast veggies. They were delicious, but I feel like restaurants really aren't trying with the veg options at the moment.
All exercise has been incidental walking, because it is so hot in Sydney and I'm very overtired.

Inside the Miami Wedding of Soccer Stars Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris
By Alexandra Macon : Vogue
Orlando Pride and U.S. Women’s National Team goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and defender Ali Krieger are one of sport’s most beloved couples. They first met in 2010 at USWNT training camp, where they became fast friends. “I just found her to be so captivating and always wanted to be around her,” Ali says. “She’s someone who seemed so confident and comfortable with herself, and I was so attracted to that.” The two began a romantic relationship, which they kept secret for a long time out of fear of losing endorsement deals, despite the fact that hardcore soccer fans suspected they were a couple long before they ultimately decided to go public. After almost 10 years of dating, they tied the knot over the holidays in a wedding that was a non-stop, weekend-long party and served as a reunion for many of the USWNT team members. It also capped off a World Cup winning season in which these athletes made front-page headlines for their powerful stances off the field as well as their talent on it.
Ashlyn and Ali’s official move toward marriage started when Ashlyn asked Ali to marry her in Clearwater, Florida. They were enjoying a weekend away after a long season. Just before dinner, “we headed down to the beach to watch the sunset and take in the beautiful scenery,” Ali remembers. “We had a glass of champagne and then wanted to take photos to capture the moment. I proceeded to take a selfie and Ashlyn’s arm was in the back of the photo. I asked her to put it down and stop being silly, only to realize she had actually been holding the engagement ring the entire time I had been snapping photos. She pulled it around in front of me, and then asked the big question! I was in shock but so happy and excited at the same time. It was an incredible sunset, and just a perfect moment.”
Wedding planning kicked off soon after. From the start, the goal was to create a classic, clean environment. “Vizcaya Museum and Gardens [in Miami] is this kind of Mediterranean Castle-like vibe right on the water,” Ali says. “It has this European feel that we were going for, so right when we walked into the venue for the first time, we were like, ‘Oh my God! It’s breathtaking. This is it!’”
The couple worked with Sara Lowell from Sara Renee Events to bring their vision to life. “She’s so badass and beautiful and just absolutely crushed it for us,” Ali says. “We’re so grateful for her and her incredible team of fantastic people working to make our dreams a reality.”
“Ali and I really wanted to align ourselves with people and brands that spoke to our soul and were really about nonconforming and understood the same vision we were going for,” Ashlyn adds. “I just wanted to feel like we could fully express ourselves, our sexuality, and our community.”
To that end, Ashlyn wore Thom Browne, the designer she turns to for all of her red carpet events, and a TAG Heuer Monaco watch. Thom Browne dresses the Barcelona soccer team, which is how Ashlyn first became acquainted with the brand. “Honestly, I love that it’s all very gender neutral, very fluid, there are women in dresses and men in dress, and men and women in skirts. I can really feel how he expresses himself through clothes. It’s just so nonconforming and so far out. I’ve been wearing his stuff ever since.” She and the Thom Browne team created a custom tuxedo with a beaded argyle pattern for the wedding day.
Like a lot of brides on the hunt for the right dress, Ali took a weekend trip to New York City with her best friend and maid of honor, Elizabeth Mumley, to search for her wedding gown. They found a Pronovias fit and flare dress with long sleeves and a V in the back that was exactly what she wanted. “I tried it on, and I knew it was the one!” she says of the “Helio” gown. “I fell in love and knew I would get married in this dress. It’s simple but sophisticated and elegant at the same time. I have personally always loved Pronovias. It’s a brand with which I think I share a lot of values as they believe in inclusivity and diversity.”
On Saturday, December 28, just three days after Christmas, the couple married in the round so that friends and family could see the ceremony and feel part of it. “We wanted simple white flowers and a rose-petal-strewn aisle,” Ali says. “We also wanted to walk ourselves down the aisle as strong, confident, independent women. We felt like it was right.” Ashlyn’s best friend, USWNT team captain and the World Cup’s MVP, Megan Rapinoe, served as maid of honor; Ali’s brother, Kyle Krieger, was best man; and Orlando Pride player Sydney Leroux was the officiant.
For the reception afterward, guests found their seats at tables named after LGBTQ icons including Marsha P. Johnson—a pioneering activist known for her role in the Stonewall uprising—and Anderson Cooper. Dena Lowell Blauschild and The Cook and the Cork catered a colorful menu with an incredible attention to detail. And just before the party really got started, Ali changed into the Condesa dress, also by Pronovias. “I wanted to make it into a mini dress but keep the train, so I customized the hem to give it a high-low effect,” she says. “It was very nice to be able to dance without worrying!”
Meanwhile, Ashlyn seemed to strip off components of her wedding ensemble as the night went on—her pants were switched out for shorts and her tuxedo jacket was traded in for a sleeveless shirt and vest, also by Thom Browne, which allowed her to dance more freely. The newlyweds cut their rainbow cake and did their first dance to a live, acoustic version of Kina Grannis’s “Stand by Me.” Toasts were given over the course of the evening, with Ali’s brother Kyle voicing the sentiments so many there (and those taking in the festivities from afar via Instagram) were feeling: “Since you went public with your relationship, it has been a gift to watch you grow together. It’s amazing because you guys are like a beacon of light for all young queer LGBTQ women and men who just need someone to look up to, like we get happy endings too. In the media and the movies, so often...you know, queer stories have a devastating ending, but not here. In real life, we get to see you guys live the dream.”

10 Songs
The the top ten songs on my mind, tagged by the beauteous @firesign23
Caveat: most of these are a) old, and b) Australian - like me, basically.
1. Apocalypso (wiping the smile off Santa’s face) by Mental As Anything. I am still hugely sad that the Mentals’ secondary lead singer, Greedy Smith, died suddenly earlier this week, but for some reason this song, rather than the ones that Greedy sang lead vocals on, has been on my mind since. It’s a Christmas song about Santa Claus drinking beer and gin, and... a possible apocalypse. And that really makes it the quintessential Mental As Anything song. They were a band with a weird sense of humour and a great sense of fun, and their shows were all about dancing and having a good time.
2. Don’t Change by INXS. I called D at work the other day when he happened to be at the office Christmas party, and they were doing an ‘80s trivia quiz. D asked me, “What’s that INXS song with something about being on the ground in the first line?” THIS is that INXS song with something about being on the ground in the first line. It’s also my favourite INXS song, and the one they often used to finish their shows with. It’s from three albums before the one that made them internationally famous.
3. In Too Deep by Jenny Morris. Hey, she’s originally from NZ, but that never stopped Australia from appropriating any musical act before. This is my primary song for the Aussie Coffee ‘verse. Some bits belong to Jaime and some bits are Brienne. Which are which should become very clear in the next few stories in the series, if they’re not already.
4. Oh, No Not You Again  by Australian Crawl. This song was on my mind a lot when I first started writing the Aussie Coffee ‘verse. Most of the lyrics aren’t relevant, except for the opening line: “Let me tell you about the two young lovers that lived down the coast.” Aussie Crawl always had a bit of a vibe of the Australian summer, though, which also helps. But the most important thing about this song: the lead singer, James Reyne, does NOT mumble sing lead vocals. Instead, the guitarist sings, so you can actually understand the lyrics!!!!!
5. Like Wow, Wipeout by the Hoodoo Gurus. This is probably not the first song most people think of when they think of Jaime and Brienne, but in some ways it fits them very, very well.
6. & 7 Love Me and Bedazzled by Dudley Moore and Peter Cook. The other day I saw some reference to the chattering nuns of St Beryl in Good Omens, and it reminded me that they MUST be a shout-out to the leaping nuns of St Beryl in Pete and Dud’s 1967 movie Bedazzled (NOT the 2000 remake *shudder*). If you don’t know the plot, basically the Devil (aka George Spiggot) played by Peter Cook, gives short-order cook Stanley Moon - played by Dudley Moore - seven wishes in exchange for his immortal soul, so that Stanley can find a way to win the love of the waitress Margaret Spencer. These two songs are from the wish-incarnation where Stanley is a rock star appearing on a TV show and Margaret is a lovestruck fan. Unfortunately, George turns up in the form of the next act of the show, Drimble Wedge and the Vegetation, and Margaret is... Bedazzled. Both of these songs were written by Dudley Moore, who was a musical prodigy who accidentally got into comedy, and they’re just so memorable and clever when you listen to them one after the other. The way Peter Cook as Drimble Wedge delivers the line (in the song) “You fill me with inertia” is one of my favourite things ever. (Also, that suit he’s wearing!!!!!! This movie could ONLY have been made in 1967.)
8. Bedazzled by the Dudley Moore trio. This is an instrumental only jazz version of the song that Drimble Wedge sings in the movie. It’s just Dud on piano accompanied by drum and double bass, and it opens up this no-frills song into something else entirely. It’s a fabulous bit of jazz piano.
9. Alone With You by the Sunnyboys. The ‘80s were an amazing time in Australian music. Unlike now, with lockout laws and other dampeners, the pub scene was ALIVE. (A place that holds some very particular memories for me, the Rose, Shamrock and Thistle Hotel - aka the Three Weeds - is a gentrified gastro pub that no longer hosts live music now. *sigh*) In Sydney and Melbourne in particular, there were so many little venues, and so many local bands to fill them.  Some legendary bands and legendary songs emerged from that scene. It’s all gone now, but the music lives on. This song is sort of the ultimate 1980s Australian pub rock song for me. It’s one of my perpetual ear worms. (The band was named after a tetrahedral-shaped orange ice block, just in case you were wondering. ;)
10. I See Red by Split Enz. D mentioned this song to me the other day and said that the band used to cover the stage in red flags when performing it. It really doesn’t have a lot to do with communism, though. It’s just a lot of intense feelings being sung by people jumping around in silly costumes and wearing lots of make-up. Another ‘Australian’ band from NZ, notable for many things, including being Neil Finn’s brother’s band, which Neil joined for several years before forming his own band, Crowded House.
Tagging: @doctordearie @woodelf68 @ophidiae @intoni @sinick and anyone else who wants to do it!

Corporate Christmas Party Planning
Finalising entertainment options to match the tone of your corporate Christmas Party is definitely not an easy task, but we’ve got a few options. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small in-office bash or a Christmas Party cruise on Sydney Harbour!
Tumblr media
The Office Christmas Party has quite the reputation - it’s, on one end, either an absolute snoozefest for everyone (except the extremely drunk accountant) OR to the other extreme, it’s the one annual event everyone’s waiting for!
The highlight of any event eventually boils down to three elements: Food & Beverage, Venue and Entertainment. Food & Beverage; a wise option would be to opt for catering. When it comes to venue, budget is the primary factor that one needs to look into. On the more economical end of the spectrum would be an in-office bash. All it would take is a few streamers and decorations, perhaps a fun photo-booth and we can call it a day! For a more extravagant affair, renting a banquet hall or a unique venue (museums and zoos are quite the rage now) might work out well for you. However, for a mid-budget Christmas Party, of late, harbour cruises in Sydney are quite popular.
The advantage with a Christmas Party cruise is that you wouldn’t need to worry at all, once you secure your booking, you only need to show up. A Sydney Showboats Christmas Party cruise will spoil your guests with a traditional Christmas feast, incredible roving views of the harbour and an hour-long spectacular cabaret show. So, it’s as good as hitting three birds with one stone!
Now, coming to the most important part of the Christmas Party. Don’t fight me on this - imagine now that all your guests are gathered at your premium venue, enjoying delicious food and drink. And staring idly at the walls as a pin-drop silence surrounds them? Doesn’t sound too good now, does it? Entertainment is just as important as any other aspect of party planning - this is especially the case for corporate parties since all the guests know each other only in formal-controlled settings. It’s going to take a lot of liquid courage (Christmas-sy mulled wine, anyone?) to get them to loosen up! Let’s explore some of the best (tried and tested) entertainment options ideal for corporate Christmas parties.
Venue-based Entertainment - These are     definitely the easiest of the lot. Your entertainment options are     integrated into the venue and theme of the party! Here are two of our     favourite options:
·Paintball - Corporate paintball parties are certainly not unheard of, but celebrating Christmas playing paintball with your colleagues is quite the experience. Also, build morale and encourage working together as a team, all while having a great time!
·Showboat Christmas Party cruise in Sydney - Booking or chartering an authentic paddlewheeler for your corporate party is sure to get heads turning. The highlight of Christmas Party cruises in Sydney is plenty - the ease of booking online, all-inclusive packages with dinner and a cabaret show!
The cabaret show is the showstopper; this hour-long masterpiece in colourful costumes and captivating choreography is sure to get your guests’ feet tapping and hands clapping!
 2. Santa Claus and his elves
What’s a Christmas Party without a jolly Santa and his elves? There’s two ways you could go about this. Persuade someone in the office to be a sport and don the hat and beard! If you fail to convince someone, there’s always the option of hiring a Santa Claus to grace the occasion - extra points (and funds) for song & dance performances by the costumed Claus!
 3. Magician
Bring magic to your event - quite literally. Hiring a magician seems like something out of a kid’s birthday party but it needn’t be. An illusionist or even a hypnotist with ample experience of performing in front of a crowd may keep your guests on the edge of their seats!
 4. Stand-up Comedian
There’s nothing better than free-flowing alcohol and laughs to get everyone to loosen up and get the party started! And this is where a stand-up comedian comes in. You could get someone with an observational sense of humor or a performer who focuses his jokes primarily on the corporate life - relatable & winning!
 5.Tarot Reader
Hiring a Party Psychic is a fun way to invite the mystical power of magic into your party. Their mind-boggling insight is sure to have your guests wowed. Also, keep your concerns at bay since most psychics are inclined towards giving positive readings so no one’s going home thinking too hard and long about their reading! It’s all in good fun.
 6. DJ and Dancing
This is probably the easiest to organize for your party. A great sound system, party lights and a local DJ hired for the evening! Watch your coworkers bust out their best dance moves!
The annual party planning shenanigans are not just an uncalled expenditure of money - a well-executed Christmas Party boosts morale among the employees, enhances interpersonal relationships between teams and is a fun way to blow off some steam at the end of the year. So, get planning. It’s never too early to start!

After settling into the city-bordering venue with a pint and a cigarette – unfortunately not simultaneously due to the ever-oppressive laws against smoking in ‘outdoor dining areas’, even if the mild but consistent rainfall would discourage anyone from utilising the area for such reasons- I passive-aggressively remind my friends that The Shifters were due to play any minute. Naturally, once we got upstairs, the band were still in the early stages of soundchecking. Feeling awkward standing around with my hands in my pockets, I got my greasy mitts around another pint. Before too long, and a couple foldback-related requests, The Shifters launch into their first number. Turns out this was merely the conclusion of their soundcheck, and my chest-tapping applause had me feeling as dumb as those punters that cheered after Radiohead tuning up at Glastonbury ’17. (Just googled the incident to clarify the year it took place and turns out it’s fake news – although my embarrassment was still very real. Too gonzo?) This was the best I’d seen The Shifters. In the three months I’ve lived in Melbourne, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them play three times. The first was at a house party on Sydney Road, a farewell to the band before they were to embark on a European tour. Apparently these Melbourne bands are all cripplingly superstitious, as they are unable to leave the city without playing a gig to see them off. The second was at the Gaso, a solid set I’m sure, despite my view being obscured – both by tall people and taller glasses of beer. And now the third, confident and energetic – even more so than usual. Staples of the set were as reliable as ever, with the riffy intro and simple ‘Son of a Gun’ drumbeat of ‘Boer Hymn’ flowing seamlessly into the biting lyricism of ‘Work/Life, Gym Etc’. I’m pretty sure they followed ‘WLGE’ with ‘Photo Op’, a tune I have noted to be similarly sneering with its lyrics in my review of their ‘Hip Blister’ split record with Parsnip. They also announced at the start of the set that they would be playing three new songs – Christmas in May – and I had a particular affinity for a number in which “On a Sunday(?)” was the hook. Maybe the reason I got so much out of The Shifters’ set was because I was relatively sober, but after a couple trips to the bar (and bathroom), Constant Mongrel’s farewell set doubled as my farewell from a mindset capable of comprehensive critical analysis. A messy memory of metallic post-punk, unrelenting in pace and ferocity. Snarling yet nihilistic vocals that I’m sure complimented whatever was happening with the lyrics. To me they were just another layer of sweet noise; a call of action to veraciously nod my head to every beat and strum. The combination of synths and sax add a level of sinister sheen to the more traditional punk instrumentation being thrashed out behind them. Upon their return to Melbourne I will definitely be going out of my way to see them whenever possible. Post-gig, I hatched a cunning plan to intercept frontman Miles after noticing he had left his group of friends and followers; alleyway-bound for some hasty urination. Waiting around the corner, I ‘coincidentally’ bump into him, and after a speedy encounter, was able to half-schedule an interview to take place at some point in the near-future – so look forward to that. The gig and my chat with Miles were definitely highlights of the evening - as it gradually sunk further and further into the depths of depravity. Before I knew it, I found myself homebound in an Uber at 6:00am, where I would soon get familiar with my dwellings for the night; the cold comfort of my bathroom floor.

children’s rock & roll apparel designer before launching Odd Twin in 2009 christmas@……&! dresses for women.
It is important to go into a marriage with the right set of expectations to avoid any disappointment, conflict or misunderstanding. 'While it is not wrong to want to make your spouse happy in a marriage, I feel that the main aim of marriage is to make each other a better person so you can work towards your life goals together,' Mr Albert Lim says. 'Happiness is a by-product. Men shouldn't marry women with the hope that they will never change, and women should not marry men with the hope that they will.' A passion for vintage shopping has connected her to nearly every single vintage store in Manhattan, inspiring her to also serve as spokesperson for New York City vintage shopping. She's been featured on the Nate Berkus Show, My Fox NY, USA Today and in the book Wearable Vintage Fashion. She's also written for Huffington Post, Time Out New York, AOL StyleList and contributed features to leading vintage fashion blogs. Her ebook The 100 Best Vintage Shops Online is now available on Lulu and Etsy.com. I specially requested for an after party because I've attended many weddings where after the banquet was over, many friends leave the ballroom feeling like the night was still young and they could have had more fun. So, after we were done with the surprise game, everyone, including Kenneth and I, changed into our swim wear and jumped into the pool which was right smack in the middle of the whole venue. We even played old clubbing songs! Yuji: We were both in Sydney, Australia in 2013 ?C at a festival called Singapore Day. The organizers flew Aliya out to Sydney to perform while she was living sygdljdress20112 in Perth, and I was from Singapore performing as well. We met backstage while Aliya was warming up before her performance. We chatted very briefly in the glorious summer sunshine (ridiculously scorching Aussie heat). I guess I was, at that point, smitten.

With pieces from the '20s through '80s short mermaid dress, it's surprising that the store feels so modern lace flower girl dresses. Beautifully edited and curated thanks to the tastes of owner Francesca Neville, who previously worked as a [get this!]: children's rock & roll apparel designer before launching Odd Twin in 2009 christmas dresses for women. Get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, and eat regular-size meals for stamina. Remember that you'll be stepping in and out of wedding gowns all day, with some of them going over your head, so low-maintenance hair and light, fresh makeup work best how much does a sondra celli dress cost. It's important to remain true to your focus: finding the gown that makes you feel your best. Finding your dream wedding dress takes trial and error and plenty of patience. Chances are, the first dress you try on won't be the one, and you may have to devote some real time to searching for it. But with so many different styles to choose from slim fitting dress shirt, it can sometimes be challenging to even know where to begin. Planning an off-beat Christmas party at work
Tumblr media
If you’re in Sydney during December and you’re planning to surprise your employees by throwing an offbeat Christmas party, you ought to make sure it turns out to be a memorable one for you and your buddies. From planning a festive potluck to picking up gifts for your Secret Santa, there are countless things you can do at your office for Christmas, true! But wouldn’t it be even more fun if you could tweak it up a bit to make it more Christmassy and peppy? Let’s take a look at some of the exquisite christmas party cruises.
If you and your folks love to take a day off and spend time outdoors, here’s a great option for you. Christmas cruises have been indeed one of the most popular Christmas party venues in Sydney and it’s worth it. A Christmas cruise could be your perfect pick as it is an all-inclusive package that serves everything from a scrumptious meal to premium beverages. Also, enjoy the scintillating views of Sydney Harbour while you much on your favourite dish. Besides having earned the reputation for delivering quality, these Christmas cruises are also known for the sightseeing opportunities they provide. Gifting your colleagues a once-in-a-lifetime cruising experience such as this, would be a great way to build up a great rapport. Now isn’t that a perfect idea for a corporate christmas party?
Christmas, known worldwide as the most wonderful time of the year, is uniquely a time when everyone stoops down to gluttony and greed. But it is also a time when ‘giving’ is synonymous with the spirit of Christmas. Perhaps, you’d like to share your goodness and wealth with the less privileged to celebrate Christmas in a more meaningful way. Before you look down on this option(because it may sound boring to some of you), celebrating Christmas this way could be more memorable than you think. Because, once you’ve spent a day with the homeless or the orphaned, there’s no going back home as the same person. Pack up some Christmas goodies and head to the streets with your folks to celebrate Christmas right.
The world as we see today is never the same and Christmas is a time when we embrace our old ways and traditions, at least for a day. However, there might be a few ways that have become obsolete and it may be past the time that we bid goodbye to them. Since Christmas is also a time when we’re anticipating the new year, you may rethink making room for a new tradition, such as inventing a new game or recreating an old tradition. This could be a fun thing to do with your colleagues for Christmas or even your family.
Every year, when Christmas arrives, we’re often pumped up to invite the new while remembering the old. Ring in this year’s Christmas by ditching the old ways. An out-of-the-box Christmas celebration with your work buddies might be just right to serve this purpose. Now, if that’s the sound of perfection you hear, have fun going offbeat for Christmas!

Top 10 Sets To See @ Middlelands
For Texas natives, Cinco De Mayo is just as much a holiday as Christmas or Halloween and is celebrated heavily throughout the state. To most, celebrating Cinco De Mayo involves taste-bud wowing foods originating from their southern neighbor, Mexico. From Tamales, to corn tortilla tacos, and enchiladas -overflowing with molten cheese, our Mexican-American amigos really know how to throw down; they also are well known for their varieties of music, like mariachi and Tejano music, which can be heard in abundance during Cinco De Mayo celebration, or really any day in the life of a Texan.
But this year, in Todd Mission, Tx, we suspect there will be many bumping a different kind of tune. This 2017 Cinco De Mayo weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival grounds, hosted by Insomniac and C3, we lads here at Hippie Noise Party will be attending the increasingly hyped and highly esteemed music festival Middlelands an Adventure for the Ages.
Themed after the venue’s biggest attraction, TRF, Middlelands Music Festival aims to usher in a presence of medieval entertainment and fun. Hosting musical acts on 5 different stages starting Thursday, May 4th and following through until Sunday, May 7th, we expect to have our minds warped and our faces melted as we witness such acts such as Bassnectar, Kaskade, Big Gigantic, Griz, Marshmello, Gramatik, Alison Wonderland, Phantogram, Illenium, Datsik, Space Jesus and so many more truly fantastic performers.
Of course, being the venue that it is, there will be the ability to camp, which always adds to any experience as the crowd out in camping tends to keep the party live until the following sunrise.
No matter if you camp or if you commute, though, anyone in attendance is sure to have a phenomenal time as this venue was ripe for a music fest of this capacity a long time ago.
Now without any further delays, we here at Hippie Noise Party present our compilative review of the top ten acts to see at Middlelands. Keep in mind, that we left out obvious headliners like Bassnectar, Kaskade and a Big Grizmatic performance we are hoping will secretly take place, as we all should know by now that there sets are incrediballs and anyone in their right mind should not miss their sets:
 1.       Crystal Castles
The brain child of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass, the duo split ways two years back after a decision from the vocalist, Alice Glass to focus primarily on a solo project. Since their schism, Crystal Castles has picked up a new vocalist, Edith Francis, and we here at HNP are very excited to see her energy on stage with Ethan Kath’s hauntingly genius melodies. Dominating the Witch House genre, almost before witch house was even respected as a genre, attendees can expect this to be one of the weirdest and most enlightening sets played this weekend.
2.       Alison Wonderland
Alex Sholler, afka Alison Wonderland, has been rocking the EDM world with banger after banger for the last two years after releasing her ‘Run’ album. Based out of Sydney, Australia, we here in Texas welcome her with open arms. Having never witnessed one of her performances, but from someone who jams Wonderland on a daily basis, I can tell you this writer does not intend on missing her set. Bringing her cool, empowered feminine touch to the genre, we look forward to hearing her wow the crowd with her trance wave dub at Middlelands.
3.       Phantogram Musical duo Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel are not new to the touring rock star lifestyle. They’ve been making headlines since 2007. Hailing from Greenwich, New York they’ve dropped top hits such as “When I’m Small”, “Black Out Days”, and “Mouthful Of Diamonds” over their career and just recently dropped a third studio album, ‘Three’ last year in October. They’ve since compiled a new project called Big Grams which has been extremely successful recently. These guys have always been on a bucket list and it will be a true pleasure hearing their electro synth pop sound at Middlelands this year.
4.       Marshmello
Ghost producer and icon of anonymity, Marshmello has hidden behind his signature mask and somehow still gained quite the reputation. This EDM producer has released multiple hits in relatively a short period of time winning him the Best Break Through Solo Artist award back in 2016. No telling what kind of stunts Marshmello may be up to as he is infamous for pulling publicity stunts around his shows.
5.       Bonobo (Live)
British musician Simon Green, better known by his stage name ‘Bonobo’ plans to entrance the crowd while on stage at Middlelands this summer with a mind-numbing, ear-pleasing melody of piano riffs and entrancing deep sounds. Having just dropped his sixth studio album ‘Migration” back in January, we speculate we’ll hear a lot of tracks from this new album. We can’t wait to see the visuals he will implement into this live set, who will he bring on stage to play with him, what display of artistic endeavor does Bonobo intend to leave his audience with? We don’t have the answer to that but believe me, we intend to find out.
6.       Big Wild
After gaining fame from touring with Odesza, Big Wild has been touring heavily since. Dropping major tracks like “Aftergold” and his remix with Zhu, “Generationwhy”, he has been moving up in ranks per se and is now working on his Invincible EP while simultaneously touring around. We saw Big Wild dropping a tropical house set at Euphoria last year in ATX, and he easily was our favorite set for the entire four-day music and camping festival.
7.       Galantis
Hailing from Sweden, DJ duo Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklow move forward into Texas territory spreading good vibes after their new single last year “No Money” became pretty successful. Made famous by their hit single back in 2014 “Runaway (U & I)”, Galantis has produced a series of hit singles last year including, “Make me feel”, “Love On Me”, and recently in December, “Pillow Fight”. Their newest single came out in February titled “Rich Boy”. So we can be certain to hear most of these during this DJ duo’s set at Middlelands.
8.       Getter
In recent years, getter, aka Tanner Petula, has taken the internet community over by storm. His hilarious antics and iconic catchphrase, “Suh Dude” are recognized through various social media forums and threads. Having signed to Datsik’s media label “Firepower records” back in 2012 we’re interested to see Getter pair up with Datsik who will also be featured in the sets played at Middlelands this year. We think it would be amazing to see these two play side-by-side. I can only imagine what kind of gettup Getter will don for his Middlelands performance, but we look forward to his grimy, sometimes wacky dubby sound.
9.       Space Jesus
Space Jesus has been making waves in the dub fest community. Rivalling bass riffs that of the almighty Bassnectar, I’ve seen this guy play twice and let me tell you, there will be a lot of physical motion during his set. Somehow this producer out of New Jersey has made his way out to Texas again to show you guys how to hold Bass Church from Outer Space, right?  Jasha Tull, afka Space Jesus sports a cross-genre field of bassfueled psychedelic style and sound. It ought to be a wicked little party.
10.   Goldfish
Goldfish is an electronica and dance group hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, consisting of Dominic Peters and David Poole. They create dance music containing elements of jazz and African music. The band has released a number of albums, including ‘Perceptions of Pacha’ and ‘Get Busy Living’, and Goldfish was named "Best Pop" at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2014. They create dance music containing elements of jazz and African music, combining live instruments like double bass, saxophones, keyboards, flute, and vocals with samplers, effects and synths. We intend to sit in on their set and jam accordingly during their time spent out at Middlelands.
That’s our HNP top 10 list. We hope to catch some of ya’ll outside at this event coming up this Cinco De Mayo weekend.
