A page in my commonplace book, as seen in my 'how an art historian & folklorist spends her days' video ☺️
It's a small article called 'Bringing Magick into the Ordinary' by Amanda Paulson, a paranormal investigator from Washington (known online as 'prettyfnspooky').

Journal Entry 3/18/24 - Pumpkin's Types.
Tumblr media
Some are very specific, but I'd like to note gender is not a factor when it comes to who I'm attracted to. You could have multiple of these things or none of them at all, but really, what matters is who you are as a person. I'm not making this like for a dating thing, really. I just thought it would be fun, and I'd like to start making more journal entries similar to this one. These are in no particular order.

New phoenix journal I have been working on for a while. This is modified from a base journal I had. It's hand painted and I attached a beautiful silver leaf design with star chain and a lock and key for privacy. I also added swarvoski AB crystals to the cover. This journal is almost ready for a new home and will be listed in my Etsy Shop and website soon. Follow my page to be notified when it's released.

Actual everyday "witchy" habits
I've seen some lists around the website, but they're too fancy for me. Here are things I actually do everyday.
🌱First thing, open all the blinds for the plants.
☕Put cinnamon in my coffee filter (not in the cup itself, it blends better this way).
📿Wear 2 charms currently. One for general soothing & protection, the second to find a new job.
🃏Bring some magical item with me, like cards, potion, crystals, herbs, book. Even if I don't use it, it keeps my mind at a better place.
🌳Take the path with the most trees. I try to take the path that will provide me with more nature & sunshine, to & from work.
📜Try to learn one thing. Either I scroll witchy media or read a page or two. It's usually one small new fact.
📔Easy journaling. Journal entries of only a few lines, multiple times a day. One thought, one entry.
No pressure. Also drink water 🥤

Deity Journal Inspiration
I've always loved being creative for as long as I can remember. Though I've never felt like I've been really good at it or would consider myself an artist. Though creating and being artistic have been one of my favorite ways to spend time with my deities. That along with journaling.
Of course, there's no shame in your journal not looking neat or "pretty" and in my opinion, there's a kind of beauty in chaos and mess. Especially if that's just how you do things. Though something I've learned that makes adding a little something special to my journals and is incredibly easy is washi tape and stickers.
I saw a tumblr post from @/breelandwalker about a witchy inspiration journal and I took ideas from that post to implement in the notebook I have dedicated to Psyche. I've been making random inspiration pages with quotes I really like or that feel like Psyche to me and decorating with different washi tapes and stickers. I even like adding washi tape to decorate regular journal entries or lists I make in my journal.
I've been really enjoying my time with Psyche and devotional act of creating something and journaling, as well as having this physical journal that I can give as a sort of offering to her. Totally recommend doing something like this for your own deities if that's something you would enjoy.

Update on me
Hello my friends. I was just journaling (which I unfortunately haven't been doing as frequently as I would like), and I really want to share this entry with you all:
16 September 2023
I think that things are going pretty well for me as far as life goes. I am making better choices, getting better at taking care of myself. I got the job I have been wanting for so long. I feel confident in myself. I give myself more credit now. I "get by" better than I would have ever thought.
I need to sit and absorb what I have achieved--for the longest time I could not allow myself to be excited or hope too much for things to happen for me. Well, I think it's time for me to celebrate a little and let things sink in somewhat.
I am two weeks away from finishing my M.S. in Library & Information Science. I work at a library. I get paid to work at a library, a really nice, pretty shiny library in a beautiful area. I made this happen by myself--I did all of the work myself. I am so fucking proud of myself. I make things happen.
It is absolutely abominable that such horrible things had to happen to wake me up--but I should not focus on that because I'm here now, and I'm super grateful for that. I think, for the most part, I can attribute these changes to my interest in witchcraft, which I have now been studying for a little over a year. Witchcraft and nature worship have transformed my life in immeasurable ways and have infused my life with beauty, meaning and possibility. Everything goes back to that decision I made last year to "get witchy," as I put it at the time. Boy, I had no idea what I was in for.
/end
So that's how things are going for me at the moment. It's insane that two years ago I was 5150'd for suicidal ideation. Who was that girl? I went from that to being absolutely obsessed with life and how multifaceted, infinite and beautiful everything is.
What am I trying to say? I don't even know. I guess if you take nothing else from reading this, please remember to never give up because things can get better and you are more powerful than you realize.
I love you all--thank you for being part of my path.

Yet another witchy post from Gen to honor the total solar happening today April 8, 2024. According to the Austintexas.org website, the eclipse will be visible from 1:32pm to 1:41pm CST in Austin with totality happening at 1:36pm CST, which is local time for Texas. As I am typing this up, it is 1:06pm EST which means it is 12:06pm CST. Meanwhile, here I am having had this posted at 1:34pm EST, 58 min before the eclipse is visible in Austin and an hour and 2 min before totality happens in Austin. Hmmm... Here she is talking about "new moon eclipse intention setting". According to this post, she has on here "speak my truth, give myself permission, follow my job, take up space, gratitude". As for what on earth is in that jar, I can't say but can guess there's either some kind of oils, flower petals, or heck maybe just a big giant candle inside of it. Looks like there are several other empty jars in front of her for God knows what reason. I also see she started writing in a journal during this video, which is part of an intention setting aspect of a ritual.
instagram
Now, as for what on Earth intention setting is for, according to this site The Aerial BVP here, it states: "Intention setting is the process of creating a clear and focused mental or emotional intention for a specific goal or outcome. It involves consciously directing your thoughts and energy toward a desired outcome or experience, with the aim of increasing the likelihood of achieving it. But while intention setting might seem strictly cerebral or spiritual, there’s a practical element to it as well. And that element makes all the difference." Given Gen talks about using crystals during colon cleanses, her taste in books becoming increasingly witchy, etc., I am going to have to go with her intents being more spiritual but also with a practical twist. She does like her cushy lifestyle. Below, I derived from this website here The Moon School an intention setting ritual specifically for eclipses I found.
1. Center yourself through breath Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inhaling for a count of four and exhaling for a count of four. Allow your breath to anchor you in the present moment, letting go of any external distractions. 2. Cultivate inner stillness Shift your focus to the rhythm of your breath, allowing it to guide you into a state of inner stillness. Spend at least six minutes simply observing your breath, allowing thoughts to come and go without judgment or attachment. 3. Connect with your higher self From this place of calm and centeredness, invite a dialogue with your higher self. Here are some questions you could ask: What is the energy I most need to cultivate? What is the attitude that will most serve my highest path? How can I serve the collective? What will bring me joy? What approach can I take, to reach fulfilment? Listen to the whispers of your soul, trusting that the answers will reveal themselves in due time. 4. Journal your insights When you feel ready, open your eyes and take out your journal. Write down any insights or guidance that arose during your meditation, even if they seem unclear or fragmented. Pay attention to any recurring themes or emotions that surface. 5. Clarify your intentions As you reflect on your journal entries, begin to crystallize your intentions for the future. Envision your life as if your desires have already been realized, describing in vivid detail how it looks, feels, and unfolds. This exercise helps to anchor your intentions in your consciousness, guiding your actions and attracting opportunities aligned with your vision. 6. Offer your intentions out to the universe Bring your hands together in prayer position, leaving a small space between your palms. Visualize this space as a vessel for your dreams and aspirations. With a slow exhalation, imagine releasing your intentions into the vast expanse of the universe, trusting that they will be received and supported. 7. Embrace the energy of the eclipse Take a moment to bask in the powerful energy of the solar eclipse. Feel the cosmic currents surging around you, infusing you with renewed clarity, purpose, and vitality. Allow yourself to be fully present in this moment of transformation. As you practice this ritual, remember that you are co-creating with the universe, aligning your intentions with the divine flow of life. Your intentions are for the greater good of us all! Trust in the process, stay open to the signs and synchronicities that emerge along your path, and embrace the infinite possibilities that await you.

A random update on how my art journaling/junk journaling as a witchy activity is going:
I think pretty well. I'm enjoying the challenge of assembling each page in a way that is both artful and fun and gives me the information needed to know what I did and what I used. I definitely need to make sure that I keep a backup journal so that if I get too "in it" to form whole art pages, I still have a record of what I am doing.
I also didn't consider that the form itself would impact my spellcasting but it already has. There are ways to hide things in junk journaling and ways to reveal things. I've realized that if I start to design a page layout in the spell planning stages, I can make my recording of the spell a part of the spell itself. I'm learning to let the pages be infused with my magic in a way that it never has before.
I still have a ton to learn. The journal style that I chose - while convenient - isn't ideal for this intense a journal style. Also, my pickets and other pieces are pretty sloppy at the moment. I'm sure that is something that gets better with practice.
Also, for those other ADHD witches who sometimes have a challenging time maintaining the focus on a candle, for instance, that may burn for 2-3 hours, you can junk journal your entry while you burning your candle and use that as a means to keep you inside of your spell for longer.

02/10/24 | entry #01
general thoughts and feelings:
today i went to disney on ice! vv fun. def reccommend. but not what im here to talk about rn. i absolutely cannot stop thinking about Bobs Burgers. its my MAJORRR hyperfix rn and im all about it.
i started planning a fanfic?? its rlly good but idk if ill write it tbh, im not that great w following through w my ideas. after this post im gonna obsessively read the wiki and make notes. then im gonna draw.
"draw what?" you ask? literally anything related to bobs burgers. i made a morning kisses drawing yesterday, today i might just draw them and their restaurant (like the intro) as a whole. thatd be so mega fun actually
also yk when you watch a show for so long that you pick up on their speech patterns? thats literally me rn like actually. my speech pattern is closest to tina or bob with the excessive amount of "uhm"'s and pauses in ym sentences. and this digital diary is kinda like tinas journal that everyone reads
sometimes i wish my family was like hers but other times i appreciate what i have. they have such a perfect and supportive family dynamic that i cant help but be jealous sometimes. most of my thoughts are comparing the two, but i know that reality will usually win. well i think thatss all until i add a "p.s" at the end
overall emotions for the day:
pretty good! im very sickso i woke up a few times in the night so i was a bit upset about that but itll be okay once i get over my sickness
academic items:
mr conrad gave us this major lab to do to prepare for our simple invertebrates practical. it has like. over 40 items on it! me and arianna are working together. it was supposed to be me and lexie and arianna, but since sierra o left for disney, ashley joined our group. me and arianna dont like her mainly bc she doesnt do any work when shes supposed to.
religious thoughts:
started an online bible course a few days ago! hoping to continue it when im not so hyperfixed
writing goals:
plotted that fanfic i was talking about! its called "veiled lament, chromatic whispers between twilight" and it only has 10 plotted chapters but i wanna turn it into a big thing.
i keep seeing this fic called "Baby Steps" for zekina and im sure its great but the author posts so much smut with the fic and i am so. against that. mainly because theyre minors
language goals:
started latin a few days ago. havent done anything else with it besides organize resources
self care goals:
got my new mary kay skincare set! trying to use it every night
shadow work:
havent touched anything witchy in 2 months
other:
attempting to shift tonight!!! i wanna be at hogwarts so bad

2023 Witchy Resolutions
In 2022:
I was consistent in doing a ritual for each quarter and cross-quarter, including a tarot spread and oracle card pull and journal entry for each.
I started doing some shadow work and gratitude journaling.
I settled more firmly on which pantheon and main deities I want to work with and have received signs back from them.
I started doing courses online and earned my Crystal Foundations Certification, along with completing several non-certification courses.
For 2023, I want to do the following to continue to build my practice:
Move up to at least one tarot reading per month;
Move up to a weekly oracle card pull;
Work on learning the Elder Futhark runes;
Work up to a half-hour Holding the Bowl ritual in honour of Sigyn (right now, I think I'm managing around 10 minutes);
Complete at least three of the following: Tarot Master Certification, Crystal Healer Practitioner Certification, Crystal Reader Certification, Chakra Crystal Certification, Crystal Astrology Certification, Professional Psychic Medium Certification, and/or Reiki Level 1, Level 2, & Master Certification
Complete the Pusheen Positivity Journal and/or the Gratitude Journal Prompts I've saved;
Do more consistent Shadow Work;
Read more of my witchy books cover-to-cover; and
Spend less money on crystals, herbs, candles, and incense, and use up more of what I already have.

The Oracle's Grimoire - Table of Contents
As of writing this in August 2023, four years ago in October 2019, I decided to become a witch. I had never been a huge practitioner, although I wanted to be, but in the recent year, I've especially fallen out of it. I want to start again--start over from the very beginning. I need to remind myself what made witchcraft so good for me in the first place, and really iron out my beliefs.
I'm keeping this blog as both something to reblog resources, as well as create my own analyses and articles on certain topics. Just something to gather all this information in one place that my autistic little brain will actually be able to grasp. Other posts of mine may be personal journal entries about my own journey and thoughts, things that I don't mind shoving out into the world.
This blog is mostly for me. I'm putting out some of this stuff in the hope that it'll help someone in the future who struggles with understanding these things like I do.
This post will be updated with my various tags for things and with links to certain posts as I go. (Those without links are those that I plan on making later. Order is subject to change.)

so it's been an established thing in my witchy practice basically since day one that unintentional tiny injuries to my hands are par for the course. i theorized for a while that it has something to do with fueling the spell, in that i am drawing on my own energy too harshly, or not properly directing it to draw external energy without being channeled through me on the way (such as with drawing on the moon or weather).
and i know i've been feeling pretty separate from my practice for a while now. chloe passing in fall, changing jobs, getting maple and never quite readjusting my space to accommodate those changes—my altar hasn't been set in months because that space is no longer my own. and it's not a candle-safe space anymore. and i've honestly been pretty apprehensive about even dabbling back into it after that (admittedly) hasty spell i did last month backfired on me.
but... for unrelated reasons i have had a lot of finger pricks this week. and they're not healing all that great. and it just occurred to me... spell payment. as i'd gotten a bit better at casting this hasn't happened often in a long time but... if i didn't take deliberate steps to prevent it, it always happened.
and some of the witchy blogs i follow might be proud of my baby witch theorizing, but i'm thinking about the apartment i saw today and applied for (it was gorgeous!!) and how i've been so determined to not let my positive vibes be a jynx for what is meant to be. and i know there is a lot of talk about the weight intent carries in spellwork. and to some degree, i agree that intent alone is not enough. a spell is in the doing, not in the vibes. and then i thought, what about a spell with a lack of (conscious) intent? if intent isn't necessary, then a spell still ought to be able to happen without it! and i do feel like something has been manifesting.
and i think, all my little finger pricks were the price to pay to cast.
we'll see what happens. it's an odd experiment, and definitely worth an entry in my journal once this is all through.
i'm excited to see where this goes
