The City of Altus
(Lore post! YAY!)
Tumblr media
In the Age of the Gods, there were tales of a city -a civilization- of people who had harnessed and controlled a mineral that emitted its own magic. They used these crystals to build machines and vehicles beyond the scope of their peers. It was said, as well, that their discovery and advancement was an affront to the gods. For it, they were banished to the bottom of the sea.
Altus is a coastal island sitting not far East of Pyroxene. Most that live on the mainland tout that the island just 'sprang up' out of the sea about 300 years ago. The island itself consisted of packed spires and temples, along with tiered swaths of land once the ocean fell away. Along with them, the inhabitants of the island had brought impressive technology saved from a bygone era. It was noted that the resource powering their machines was finite; their exile below the waves seemed to make the new neighbors keen to how their influence might affect the world at large.
The leaders of this island, a native royal and scholar supposedly from the Queendom of Roses, still wanted to share their knowledge with the world. So in a bid to open commerce, they began to build. They built boats to fish, homes to house, and opened their arms to the rest of the world. Altus, as it began to call itself, thanked the Queendom of Roses for their outreach and assistance as they gathered materials to make good on their promises.
News of mechanical testing intrigued minds across Twisted Wonderland. Many flocked both to observe the pristine time capsule of an island, with just as many finding themselves rising to the challenge of reverse-engineering this crystalline technology. What Twisted Wonderland's greatest minds found most effective was wind and steam power.
Surrounded by ocean, they had an endless supply of pressure. Salt accumulated from machine filters would go back into the economy or an early form of Reverse Electrodialysis, and steam would continue the water cycle. As for the heat to build said steam: algae biofuel and hiring fire fairies. The fire fairies are compensated appropriately, and the algae is almost never outpaced in its growth vs harvest. And with how blustery the island could get, wind energy was never difficult to come by for more stationary purposes. This is all to say, Steam power and magic made this once ancient technology accessible to the rest of the world.
Modern Day Aspects of Altus:
The outermost ring consists of the train system, delivering people and cargo from one side of the island to the other. The circuit halos the ports, which frame the innermost residential and urban areas.
The largest building is actually the central hilltop that most Airborne Afternoon's festivities take place. It sits protected by the soil, and serves as a community center, city hall, and disaster shelter.
Flying above the urban areas is the one remaining dirigible of Altus' early air fleet: the S.A.S Admiral. It currently serves as the city museum, accepting and letting loose tourists with each lap around the island. You'll hear locals call it 'Old Admiral Boom', namely for the decommissioned front cannons still mounted on it.
The further towards the east end of the island -facing out to open sea- houses a large population of merfolk. Altus hosts one of the few 'Land Camps' offered across the world for mero to integrate towards land living. Schools, in turn, offer language classes in the more common forms of the mero language. (This is how Albert learned Azul had asked the Twins to keep an eye on him)
Whatever forces of nature allow it, Altus finds itself with an almost consistent schedule of their most windy day. That couple of days has so far been predicted with accuracy, so scheduling Airborne Afternoon has not ever been very short notice. Many theorize that its the literal Winds of Change blowing summer away to usher in autumn.

Our Own Good
CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS AHEAD! Don’t read this fic if you haven’t reached this in your game yet! Just some more KehXReader for ya. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So much had happened with this investigation, that the Ovenist was tired. They had been chatting with Plant Lady in the garden about the whole thing today and all the events that had transpired, from Keh defending his mock-up, to Cicero admitting she stole the ancient dough and now all of a sudden the dough needed to be frozen.
“It’s just been one thing after another....” The Ovenist said as they drank the herbal tea Plant Lady had made for them. It was a nice, windy afternoon and they were sitting in the Ovenist’s gazebo by the garden. “I don’t know how much more of this investigation I can take, to be honest....”
Plant Lady sips her tea and nods. “It’s a lot, Ovenist, I know. But you’ve been through so much before, and you were triumphant! You’ll finish this challenging event even better than challenges you’ve had before.”
You smile at her. “Thank you. You have a lot more faith in me than most people in this city....”
Plant Lady nudges you. “Aw, I think Alicante and Keh wish they had the brain that you have. They’re just frustrated! Deep down I’m sure they respect how far your business has come.”
You shrug. “I guess....”
“Well,” Plant Lady started. “You certainly have the best garden in all the city! If there’s anything you should be extra proud of, it’s that! Plus it seems you are always out here harvesting, which is great!”
You chuckle. “Leave it to you to always look at the bright side of things when it comes to botany!” You sip your tea again and groan. “Luckily a friend of mine got me something to enhance Keh’s freezer, but....I still dread going back to his shop.”
Plant Lady was in the middle of stroking a ladybug gently with her finger, but suddenly stops and looks at the Ovenist. “I thought you two were getting along better lately?”
“We were, but....he still has to be a jerk and it’s frustrating. I think the guy is destined to never have friends or....any kinds of relationships....”
Plant Lady smiles at the ladybug and puts it on a leaf of a hedge. “Dr. Keh’s been well-known for his abrasiveness, Ovenist. I really think it’s for show; you are his competitor after all.”
You shrug. “I guess. He seems to be that way with everyone but....I don’t know. He seems to seek me out personally sometimes, like he’s got a vendetta with me.”
Plant Lady widens her eyes and looks at you. “Really?”
You nod. “Yeah. He says he’s always got eyes on my shop and he comes over....like a LOT. He claimed I’m not a threat but he acts like I am.”
Plant Lady smiles. “Oh Ovenist. I think my suspicion has been true all along....he likes you in his own way!”
You chuckle. “Very funny. He already knows I like him because I basically outed my emotions to him a couple weeks ago. But he hasn’t even said anything back....”
“Exactly!” Plant Lady exclaims. “He knows how you feel, but he is unsure how he feels about you himself! So he picks on you to make you and others think he doesn’t like you!”
You chuckle again. “That’s something I did in like 3rd grade.” You think for a minute, and remember who you’re talking about. “But then again....”
You notice the sun go down in the sky, and remember you told Dr. Keh you’d meet him at his shop when you found something to enhance his freezer. You hand Plant Lady your teacup.
“I gotta go freeze the dough now. I’ll see you again soon!”
As you leave, Plant Lady waves to you. “Good luck, Ovenist! Let me know how it goes!”
You go inside your shop and grab everything you need, including the ancient dough and the medallion you got from Jingles. It was time to try and save the city....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as you park your car in Keh’s parking lot, you grab your backpack and walked inside Keh’s shop. Keh hands a customer their order, sees you and motions you to a table. You sit and he walks over.
“Ugh, you’re back...”
You smirk at him. “That customer didn’t look too pleased to receive that order, you know.”
Keh crosses his arms and smirks back at you. “Unfortunately he has preset expectations from when he ate at your sad parlor.” He pulls the chair back and sits down at your table. “Now that you got your cheap shot at me, did you find something to enhance my freezer?”
“I sure did!” You pull something out to show Keh, who grimaces at you.
“How is that going to enhance my freezer, you fool? We’re doomed!”
You look at him funny, and realize that you pulled Alicante’s photo out of your backpack by accident. You carry every piece of evidence with you, just incase, and it had been a rough week...
“Oops, wrong thing!” You quickly find the medallion and put it on the table for Keh to see. “It’s an ice medallion. I’m told it can deep freeze anything!”
Keh takes it into his hand and studies it. He’s not sure what to make of it. “Hmmph. I don’t know where you got this, but we’ll see if it actually works....”
“It will!” You confidently say.
“I’ll attach it to my freezer and you seal the dough. Don’t mess this up.”
“I won’t!” You tell him as you both get up to walk to his kitchen.
You marvel at all of Keh’s cool things in his kitchen, from his ingredient storage to his equipment. You’re snapped back into focus as Keh attaches the medallion in place.
“It’s all yours. Try not to kill us and the entire city, okay Ovenist? I have to document my sales for the day, so call me if you need help.”
You nod as he walks away. You had taken a picture of the stone tablet you completed and studied it for a minute.
“Hmm, it looks like I need to put red sauce on one half and then cheese on the other half.”
You put on gloves and get to work. Once you put the toppings on, you look at what to do next.
“Then I put it through the freezer once. Sounds easy enough!”
As soon as you put it through the freezer once, you put it into a special ancient-looking container, take your gloves off, grab your phone and backpack and find Keh, who’s writing something down at the counter. He hears you walking toward him, and he looks up.
“Is it done? Did you defeat Julius Cheeser?”
“Not yet. There’s three steps, so I gotta come back the next two days to do the other steps.”
Keh sighs. “I can’t believe I’m letting you in my kitchen for two more days, but I suppose it’s for my own good.”
You roll your eyes. “Well, mine too! You’re saving me, you should feel good about that....”
Keh blushes. “I-I-....hmmph, whatever, Ovenist. Just come back tomorrow....”
And so you smiled and laughed as you left.
Day 2 went well and you felt like you were really going to save the city!
And then Day 3 comes....
You try to look at the picture of the tablet on your phone and you struggle to see what you need to do next. You start to get knots in your stomach. Not wanting to screw such a big thing up, you begrudgingly go find Dr. Keh.
You go to the counter and see him assisting a customer. You hide behind a wall so the customer doesn’t see you in Keh’s shop and start asking questions. You wait til the customer leaves and call for Keh.
“Psst!”
He hears you and follows you back to where the dough sits.
“It’s about time you asked for my help, Ovenist. I feared you became too arrogant for your own good.”
“Pfft, you should talk. Listen....I took a picture of the stone tablet with my phone and I’m trying to see what the last step is, but the picture I took is too blurry. That’s why I went to get you.”
“Well, let me see,” Keh asks, and you hand him his phone. He looks at the phone and chuckles. “Cute. For some reason, I imagined you’d have this exact phone-”
You cross your arms and scoff. “Real original, Keh. Make fun of me because I have a different cellphone than you, laugh it up.”
“You cut me off. I actually have this exact phone.”
You look at him. “How do you have my exact phone? I figured you’d have the newest model.”
Keh scoffs. “For what? They all do the exact same thing. I save my hard-earned money on other things. Anyway, I was mentioning your rhinestone case. Quite hilarious. Now let me look at this picture....”
Keh tries to zoom in on the picture, change the filters, but still has the same problem.
“Hmm. Let me try something. I’m gonna send this picture to my phone and see if I can use one of my photo-editing apps to enhance it.”
As soon as he sends it and hands your phone back, your hands touch briefly, which causes you to blush. What makes you blush even more....is the realization that THE Dr. Keh has your number! And he didn’t even have to ask you for it!
You start to daydream, but Keh brings you back, his face looking up from his phone.
“I fixed it in the app. It looks like you’ve done everything except freeze it one more time and slice the pizza into eight even slices.”
You nod. “And that’s all I have to do? Nothing else left?”
Keh nods. “That’s all. Seems easy enough that even you can do it.”
You sigh, looking deflated. “I don’t know. You have a lot of confidence in me all of a sudden. You said that wasn’t good....”
Keh notices your sullenness and puts his hand on your back and gently rubs it. “It’ll be okay, Ovenist. I’m right here. If you somehow mess something this easy up, at least we’ll die together, won’t we?”
You nod. “Yep, it’s now or nothing!”
As soon as you freeze the pizza one more time and use Keh’s pizza slicer to cut the pizza, you place it into the ancient-looking box and all of a sudden time stops as you see a flash of light and....
“J-julius Cheeser....”
“Oh my...” Keh says as he looks on and stands in front of you, as if to protect you.
“YOU’LL REGRET THIS OVENIST!” Cheeser yells to them. “I WILL CONQUER THE PIZZA INDUSTRY! MY CHEESE PIZZA WILL PREVAIL ONCE MOOOORE-”
As quickly as he came in, Cheeser disappears into the ancient box as it closes itself. You can say nothing, your mouth stuck open until Keh smiles at you.
“You....you did it! You defeated Julius Cheeser!”
You look dumbstruck. “I-?”
You can’t say any more as Keh has graciously roped you into a hug, and since he was taller than you, he practically lifts you off the ground. As soon as he puts you down, he grins at you.
“All thanks to me!”
So many thoughts are in your head at once. “Huh?”
Keh puts a hand on your shoulder. “Oh, no need to thank me, Ovenist. I’m just glad my freezer saved the day!”
You shake your head and laugh. “Yeah, I guess so. All thanks to me having that photo ready on my phone to send to you. I guess now you can delete my number and all....”
“Oh yes,” Keh coughs and then smiles. “Well, I think I’ll keep your number for now. When PNN writes an op-ed about me and posts it online, I’ll send it to you so it can brighten your day, as it will be very enlightening.”
You roll your eyes and wave goodbye. “Yeah, yeah. See ya later.”
As soon as you put your things in your car and sit down, the realization hits you and you smile as you think about Plant Lady.
“I’ve got so much to tell her!”

Haunted States of America: Illinois
Tumblr media
A Field Guide to Chicago Hauntings (2001) by Jim Graczyk
Unsurprisingly, Chicago is a very haunted city. There are quite a few books out there with stories of Chicago's spooks, but Chicago Hauntings is less story, more places to visit. It's a list of various haunted or otherwise spooky places in Chicago, with a brief description and the address where you can find it.
Some places you may have heard of, like Jane Addam's Hull House or H.H. Holme's "Murder Castle," but some are more obscure. Did you know there's a bleeding stop sign at the intersection of Riverside Dr. and Olmstead Ave.?
Chicago Ghosts also includes short histories on major disasters in Chicago, including the Iroquois Theatre fire in 1903 and the capsizing of the SS Eastland in 1915. You can also find information about famous plane crashes and murders that took place within the city limits.
If you're interested in other books about Chicago hauntings, we have:
Chicago Haunts: Ghostly Lore of the Windy City (1997) by Ursula Bielski
Chicagoland Ghosts (1997) by Dylan Clearfield
Windy City Ghosts (2000) by Dale Kaczmarek
If you'd like books about Illinois hauntings outside of Chicago, check out:
Dark Harvest: The Compleat Haunted Decatur (1997) by Troy Taylor
Haunted Alton: History & Hauntings of the Riverbend Region (1999) by Troy Taylor
Ghost Stories of Illinois (2000) by Jo-Anne Christensen

May I ask what is on the surface of Thalamhan? I see the cities are underground. Sorry if you've already answered this question I am just bad at following people's pages and I was curious :)
Tumblr media
There's nothing on the surface. It's dry, dusty, and occasionally windy. There are no bodies of water anywhere, and a few mountains are sprinkled about. Thalamite researchers who've been studying the planet have theorized that the desolate landscape is the result of a supernova that decimated the planet's surface flora millions of years before Danuas's arrival, with the remaining particles from the collapsed star refining into the ununtrium veins that are harvested by the colony.
Not many Thalamites go to the surface, the only ones who do being researchers, Titan's Guard and military, and the Starbound Society who follow in Gealach's footsteps. They go in and out through cave entrances in hills and mountains, marked by a ring of stones.
Because of the planet's unexciting landscape, extraterrestrial lifeforms overlook it, failing to pick up any signs of life or important resources with their radar. In a way, that fact protects Thalamhan, but further isolates it from the rest of the galaxy at the same time.

More questions...
Question: What do you say?
Response: 'You... feel it when someone drowns?'
Check notes for previous instalments
You can't hide your horror. 'You... feel it when someone drowns?'
Lex leans back on their hands. They don't look at you. 'I feel anyone who's close enough to the sea. That's how I knew no-one else was at the anchor with us. When someone's in danger - I only felt it twice, but twice is heaps - I feel something burning behind my sternum that wants to pull me to them. I'm one of the lucky ones, I've never felt someone drown. Or maybe I'm just too new. Mira, my mentor, says your chest feels... empty for a moment. Like you take a step and realise nothing's under your foot, but there's no ground to stand on and stop the feeling.'
'That's... how does that not drive you crazy?'
'There aren't a lot of people here,' they say. 'No way could I be a coast witch in the canal city. Maybe their ritual's different, I don't know. But yeah, they have a bit of a reputation. The one who saved me still freaks me out, and I owe literally all of this to her.'
'And they're coming to the witch meet?'
'Yeah, there's always a gaggle of apprentices. They'll start trickling in soon.'
'What other witches are coming?' The drowning talk's making you more queasy than the waves under you and you're desperate to change the subject.
Lex ticks them off their fingers. 'Bunch of coast and weather ones. A handful of smaller road ones. Some harvest ones, maybe healing ones if we're lucky. Usually one or two graveyard ones...' Their voice drifts off and their eyes go wide.
'Lot of witches.'
'I gotta run home,' Lex says suddenly, hauling themself up.
You look up. 'Is anything wrong?'
'Yeah. No. See you.' They pick up the baskets and hurry away before you can say anything.
--
You take a moment to gather yourself before standing up. Fair to assume Lex doesn't want to be followed, so you return to the cottage.
Isla must have left by now but you knock anyway. 'Can I come in?'
Deema yells for you to open the door. The warmth inside wraps around you and you pull your jacket off.
Deema says, 'We'll be maintaining the weather over the next week to be all nice for some visiting witches.' She rolls her eyes.
'Oh, the witch meet! Lex told me about that. So, what, just make sure it's not too cold and windy?'
'Yes. It's ridiculous, if you ask me.'

can we learn more abt soji.. theyre so cool... theyre a demigod???
Tumblr media
soji!
theres a few things to know about soji:
1 - theyre a demigod! their mother is soremone (pronounced "so-REH-moh-nay), the moon, so theyre called a "moon-born".
Tumblr media
being a demigod is kinda wacky, and has different effects depending on the godly parent. godly parentage generally gives the half-mortal offspring unusually colored skin, eyes and hair, but the ~magical godly powers~ are where it really gets weird.
soremone is the primordial moon, but she also embodies the air and atmosphere (the moon is essentially a massive, half-glowing cloud), so soji gets some neat air-based powers from that, but its not quite as direct as, like, air-bending.
demigods have passive, involuntary influence over their godly parents domain around them, like moving your arm around in the bathtub and making waves. so even though sojis only "domain" is their own body, the air around them will (figuratively) interpret commands directed towards sojis body as also applicable to said air (for example, when their brain says to their arm "move that way" the air around their arm also takes that command). theyve trained this ability to aid them in combat by propelling their movements and the swings of their sword. it also gets windy when theyre upset.
this ability comes in handy for when theyre moonlighting (get it) as a stage actor, frequently portraying their own mother.
2 - theyre an okoman! okomen (named for okomat, god of the hunt) are a fictional race i made up that are just bigger and hairier than the gideians (named for gidera, god of the harvest), who are basically normal humans, except theyre exclusively herbivorous, while okomen are exclusively carnivorous, hence their sharper teeth.
Tumblr media
sojis a bit on the smaller side for an okoman, and has to hide or shave most of their hair to fit in with high society.
3 - theyre a knight! soji works as a knight for the noblewoman beoma whos in charge of the southern city of melowai. they are her dedicated champion, fiercely loyal to her and the city. theyre also miserably in love with lady beoma, which isnt great because shes super evil.
Tumblr media
its actually because of this that they meet pep and co! during the gangs adventures, they travel to melowai for Plot Reasons and get the attention of lady beoma, who sends soji to stop them from doing Hero Things
Tumblr media
they get their ass beat and end up joining the gang once they become disillusioned with beoma
and thats the run-down on soji!

As The Snow Melts
Part 1: Mondstadt boys
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ Waking up with spring
Tumblr media
☄️a/n: the seasons changing right now is completely mucking up my sleep schedule so here I am, making a new account and writing at 5a.m.
{Contents: domestic, drabble}
{Warnings: none!}
Tumblr media
Albedo would be up and about long before you roused from sleep, he's a man of routine. That's not to say he left you alone, however, how cruel would it be to let you wake up alone on a morning this beautiful? He sat nearby, soaking in the fresh spring sun as it fell through the windows. The room was peaceful, the warm silence broken only by his graphite against his paper as he sketched your sleeping form. You were his favorite muse after all, and the sun rays lit you up like a star- his star. His calm focus is broken as you rouse, turning to yawn into your pillow and blinking open your tired eyes. "Oh, finally awake?"
Diluc would be up first as well, he's hard-wired to be as productive as possible- up early to start checking sales, stock, or even harvests, should it be the right season. Waking up to see the sun wearing down the snow outside meant he had a lot of work to start, but thankfully it could be done from the comfort of his own manor- for now. The hustle and bustle from downstairs eventually reached you though, and as you made your way down the stairs you caught his eye. "Oh (name), you've awoken," he greets, striding over to you. Once met, you're given the usual kiss on the forehead, the heat radiating off the man before you nearly lulling you back to sleep. "Come, I've had breakfast prepared for us before we head into the city."
Kaeya only wakes up before you by chance, the two of you often trading the ability to tease the other about sleeping "so cutely". Grinning with his win, he gently untangles himself from you to leave the bed. Half stretching, half walking to the window, he pulls the curtains open with an exaggerated flourish, basically flash-banging the room, you included. He turns back towards the bed as you half mumble a protest to the sudden brightness, turning the opposite direction with an annoyed whine. Kaeya makes his way back to the bed, leaning over you and peppering every exposed surface he can reach with kisses. Chuckling warmly at your half-hearted attempt to swat him away, he eventually gets an opening to your lips, washing away the remnants of your sleep in his favorite way. "Get up sleepyhead, you've already missed lunch!" (You haven't.)
The wind would stop blowing before Venti ever woke up before you. In an ironic comparison, he was quite like a cat, gladly curling up near you and sleeping as much as he pleased. Despite his small stature, he somehow managed to take up most of your shared bed, and getting yourself untangled from his unconscious grip was a feat in itself. Glancing around the room as you shook the last of your sleepiness away, your gaze fell on the narrow strip of sunlight breaking through the closed window. After a far too early workout, you managed to pry yourself away from the bard, leaving him in bed in favor of pushing the window open and relishing in the morning breeze greeting your skin. "You left me again?" The faux sadness had you turning back towards Venti, whose pout was crafted so perfectly, and you wondered if he ever was asleep on such a windy day to begin with.

Shiv, After
Siobhan’s hair flamed in the late afternoon light skimming her deck. Scotch after a run always tasted better. The air here tasted better. Maybe she missed the buzz of the city, but the bees inside her never quit.
She’d done it. She’d pulled a Connor. Not a full Connor, she wasn’t a complete idiot and she didn’t have a call-girl girlfriend, and this was only 20 acres, but after all, after all of it, after Methuselah’s parting shot— “Oh, Pinky… you’ve never had an idea in your life”— she was done. It took awhile to get there, but she took the cash and ran.
She’d run for two years, from billionaire playground to millionaire playground, until her sensible side grew bored and noticed just how much money was gone and never coming back. She needed a reset.
Oddly, it was Nan she wanted to call. Not her own mother, not Romy, absolutely not Ken Doll. And Conn had gone full Nazi since Willa left, so, no.
It was Nan who suggested Montana. Painfully red, she’d said, but low taxes, and if you want to, you can be running the town in a year or two, and if you don’t, well, the vistas are exquisite.
So Montana, not too far away from an airport. Twenty acres of land, cheap, because the only thing you could harvest out here was wind or sun, so that’s what she harvested.
People still shunned her in town, city slicker with enough capital to pay cash, enough to put in the turbines and the panels, enough to build a house that held her, the baby, and a nanny, small compared to what she’d been accustomed to, but enough.
“Will it be enough, Siobhan?” said Nan, who had taken them for ten billion. Shiv chuckled at that. Even Nan had a price.
The western hillside sloped down toward the river, singing with the windmills as they gathered what the earth gave. If she kept this up, her freckles would yield to weathering. She’d grow up to be another Nan, with less money. And less family.
But was it enough? All her life she’d been chasing more and more and more. More money, more power, more of the old man’s attention. She’d run with people forever on the hunt. She still had the impulse, but— fuck off, she told herself.
She’d run into the neighbors on her run today— improbable, since their doorways were some five miles apart. Ann and Sam, the lesbian sheep ranchers. “Settlin’ in okay?” said Ann. Oddly the girlier one had the butch name. Shiv had nodded and smiled, then run on.
It was, she thought, okay. The hustle of permitting and hiring, making nice to local aldermen and craftsmen had been exhilarating, almost as much as making billion-dollar deals, but the peace now, somehow, satisfied her. Wearing jeans and boots now satisfied her. Fresh fucking air, hot, cold, windy, always windy, satisfied her. Was that what enough felt like? Was that it? Maybe. For now. For now, it was enough.

your oc world actually sounds really cool! what are each of the four territories like if Spring is more urban fantasy?
thank you!!!
here's a quick rundown
Spring -- inspired by modern technologies and urban fantasy; machinery needs magic to function, to power things as simple as transport (trains, elevators), but magic has since been mostly outlawed so most innovations are purely man-made. people still wear a lot of old-fashioned clothing, but think more modern-architecture. skyscrapers and modern suburbia. this technological influence is still super prevalent around the capital, just not Working for the most part. Spring produces crops and a consistent source of food thanks to their widespread harvests. the weather tends to flip between hot and breezy and light rains, letting their natural environment really thrive and grow quickly.
Summer -- this season is far more fantastical; the entire season revolves strongly around magic and its population of people/elves who use it. Summer is most well known for that magic, and their fascination with the arts and creativity. they love music, literature and in particular textiles; their trades consist mostly of fabrics and clothes and the fine magic silks that aren't accessible anywhere else. magic and religion play a really heavy role in Summer, so for the majority of the time the capital city is alive with festivals and celebrations; in terms of architecture, think Renaissance style. the weather is usually hot, playing into the ocean culture that Summer likes to foster.
Winter -- this season is very nomadical and doesn't usually stick to a strict aesthetic other than fantasy because it's mostly inhabited by dragons. much of the territory is pine forests and mountains and is generally either snowing or incredibly windy (and, obviously, very cold). there are a lot of small medieval-style towns underground; most settlements are in a network of caverns beneath the surface. Winter is very reclusive and have now closed their borders fully; prior to that they mined through the mountains and exported minerals and raw materials.
Autumn -- architecture inspired by the middle ages/fantasy. currently a mystery to most characters; the entire season is shrouded in fog and shielded with magic.
there's so much more but im sparing you all from my insanity rn

Coffee Tour at Doka Farm
In the morning I was treated to a very early, very cold shower in temperatures that were definitely not the 30 degrees of Jaco! I packed my day bag quietly for my tour and then sat in the main living room where there was a little cat curled up asleep that I must not have noticed last night. The driver was right on time for pick up and I was the first person so had my pick of the seats, although he asked me to sit right behind him. I sat there until we arrived at the next hotel for pick up but it was too cold and windy there to do it all day! It was cool to see the city of San Jose wake up and come alive at 6am as we drove through the streets to pick up all the tour participants. Everyone walking around was carrying an umbrella – it was a 100% chance of rain today, and they seem to trust the forecast! One queue at a bus stop ran all the way down the street, around the corner and down the next street, it was organized mayhem! Our driver introduced himself as our tour guide Max who had his first coffee at 6 months old. He told us that the traffic is crazy in San Jose because 2 million people visit everyday but luckily we were heading out the opposite direction. Once everyone was picked up, our last folks were picked up from an airport hotel, Max gave us the itinerary break down for the day. We’d be spending it in the Alajuela province which is famous for its mango which is unfortunately not in season! Our day began with a visit to Doka coffee farm owned by the Vargas family at 5000 feet. On the drive us Max gave us all the facts about Costa Rican coffee – it’s Arabica only, 95% of Costa Rican coffee is exported to other countries, coffee grown at 3000 feet tastes like citrus and coffee grown at 6000 feet tastes like sweet fruits. Max also told us about how he gets woken up at 4am everyday by his 2 cats Catalina and Nutella – one cat has another house though. As we drove further up into the coffee plantations Max explained how coffee productions is one of the biggest industries for migrant workers from Nicaragua. 200,000 Nicas work in coffee plantations in Costa Rica, another 200,000 work in banana plantations, and 200,000 more in pineapple plantations. These migrants get around $20 a day, which is much better than the $4 a day they would get in agricultural work in their home country just across the border. They are also given housing as part of their employment since they do the work that Costa Ricans are unwilling to do. At the Doka coffee farm, we started with our buffet breakfast where I finally tried gallo pinto on my last full day in Central America! I also piled up my plate with fried plantains, sausage slices, a tortilla and some fruit. They had 3 black coffees on offer, made from their own coffee beans. The standout was the Peaberry which I ended up buying a bag of to take home with me.
Max took us on a tour around the plantation, we first saw the peeling machine that has worked for 160 years without electricity and Max explained how the coffee harvest is synced with the school year so that the teenagers can also come to help pick the cherries when all hands on deck are needed. A sack of Costa Rican green coffee beans, washed, peeled and dried, goes for about $300 but up to $4000. In comparison the average price of a sack of Brazilian robusta beans fetches $100 meanwhile the most expensive sack is a geisha tree specialty from Panama which sold for $200,000. The peaberry is also more expensive as it’s a perfectly formed seed but smaller than average, they need to be handpicked out of the regular seeds. Max explained that the sweetest coffee is grown at the higher altitudes, but the honey process can also lead to sweeter coffee. The honey process involves leaving the greasy layer on the beans rather than letting them ferment to wash it off. When it dries, the honey process will take 12 days to dry the greasy layer too whereas the fermented beans would only take 5 days. The beans are all dumped outside in the sun to dry, with the workers walking through the beans with a rake to move them around for even-drying. After the tour we were led purposefully to the gift shop where I purchased the peabery blend for just $9 as well as some chocolate coated coffee beans for Alanna. We then piled back into the van to our next destination - the Poas volcano.

Why Consider Professional Services For Urban Beekeeping In Chicago
Beekeeping has become increasingly popular in urban areas, and Chicago is no exception. The Windy City, with its diverse flora and commitment to sustainability, offers an excellent environment for beekeeping. However, managing a hive in an urban setting can be challenging, especially for those new to the practice. That's where professional beekeeping services in Chicago come in. These services can help you maintain healthy hives, maximize honey production, and contribute to the local ecosystem. In this blog, we'll explore the benefits of professional beekeeping services in urban areas and why Meyer Bees is a top choice for beekeepers in Chicago.
The Growing Popularity of Urban Beekeeping in Chicago
Urban beekeeping is growing in cities worldwide, with Chicago leading the way. The city's abundance of gardens, parks, and green spaces offers a rich source of nectar and pollen for bees. Additionally, Chicago's residents and businesses are increasingly aware of the role honey bees play in maintaining biodiversity and enhancing food production through pollination.
However, urban beekeeping comes with unique challenges, including limited space, potential conflicts with neighbors, and the need for specialized knowledge to navigate the local environment. For these reasons, many Chicagoans are turning to beekeeping services in Chicago to help them manage their hives effectively and responsibly.
Benefits of Professional Beekeeping Services
Professional beekeeping services offer a range of benefits for both novice and experienced beekeepers. Here's how these services can make a difference in your beekeeping journey:
Expert Guidance: Managing a hive requires knowledge of bee behavior, hive management, and local regulations. Professional beekeeping services provide expert guidance to help you navigate these complexities. Whether you're a beginner looking to start your first hive or an experienced beekeeper seeking advanced techniques, having access to expert advice can significantly improve your success rate.
Hive Maintenance: Regular hive maintenance is crucial for keeping your bees healthy and productive. This includes tasks such as checking for pests and diseases, ensuring the queen is laying eggs, and monitoring honey production. Professional beekeeping services handle these tasks for you, ensuring your hive is well-maintained and thriving.
Swarm Management: Swarming is a natural process where a hive splits, and a portion of the bees leave with a new queen to form a new colony. While swarming is a sign of a healthy hive, it can lead to the loss of bees and honey production if not managed properly. Beekeeping services can help you prevent swarming by identifying signs early and taking appropriate measures to keep your bees in their hive.
Honey Harvesting: Harvesting honey is a rewarding aspect of beekeeping, but it requires skill and the right equipment. Professional beekeeping services can assist with honey extraction, ensuring it's done efficiently and hygienically. They can also provide advice on how to process, store, and market your honey.
Compliance with Local Regulations: Beekeeping in urban areas like Chicago is subject to local regulations, including hive placement, size, and management practices. Professional beekeeping services are familiar with these regulations and can help you stay compliant, avoiding potential fines or issues with neighbors.

"The Sickle." From Mark 4: 26-29.
Tumblr media
Everyone thinks Jesus was selling doves, but that is not what He was doing. Jesus was not hocking eternal life or something pearly white, but the Kingdom of Israel, AKA the Kingdom of God. It has so far been a seed that fell on the wrong persons, but that time is past. The seeds are in the air and they will come to ground soon.
Jesus explains using the Four Winds as His Method. First read this passage from Chukat:
27 That is why the poets say:
“Come to Heshbon and let it be rebuilt;     let Sihon’s city be restored.
28 “Fire went out from Heshbon,     a blaze from the city of Sihon. It consumed Ar "city" of Moab,     the citizens of Arnon’s heights. 29 Woe to you, Moab!     You are destroyed, people of Chemosh "as if he saves"! He has given up his sons as fugitives     and his daughters as captives     to Sihon king of the Amorites.
30 “But we have overthrown them;     Heshbon’s dominion has been destroyed all the way to Dibon "two cakes dominion". We have demolished them as far as Nophah "the windy place",     which extends to Medeba "waters of grief.”
=
“Come to think and let it be rebuilt;     let the uprooted city be restored.
28 “Fire went out from thinkers,    a blaze from the city that was uprootedIt consumed Ar "city" of “father’s water”,    the citizens of cheery  heights.29 Woe to you, father’s water!    You are destroyed, people of "as if he saves"!He has given up his sons as fugitives    and his daughters as captives     to the uprooter king of the talkers.
30 “But we have overthrown them;     The Entire Library’s dominion has been destroyed all the way to Dibon "two cakes dominion" ( yesterday and today, there are two shabbat loaves, one is taken at the beginning one is desert at the end).We have demolished them as far as Nophah "the windy place",    which extends to Medeba "waters of grief.”
The fukchucks say "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," well that is a bunch of bullshit. As God told Moses, "From Liberty's Domimion, I will uproot them, I will overthrow them, I will dry up the waters of grief."
The Parable of the Growing Seed
26 He also said, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground.
 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.
28 All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.”
v. 26: The North Wind. He also said, meaning He revealed for the first time: The Number is 3345, גגדה‎‎, gegada, "everything must be cut off, we must start anew."
"The feminine noun γη (ge) means earth (hence our English prefix "geo-") but predominantly as fertile and producing ground. In translations our noun may be interpreted as earth, land or ground but always with the underlying idea of being fertile and bringing forth. When our word is juxtaposed with ουρανος (ouranos) or "heaven", it should not be understood to denote our planet in space, but rather as the dry land that had risen from the seas and now brings forth produce, and has clouds over it and water exchanging between all of them (see for more about the hydrological cycle in the Bible our article on the Hebrew equivalent of our word, namely ארץ, 'eres, meaning earth).
When our word denotes the arena in which something like news propagates, it denotes basic humanity as the fertile field in which culture sprouts and grows (the actual world-wide human civilization is most often referred to with the familiar word κοσμος, kosmos).
It should be clearly understood and diligently remembered that where the English translations use words that expresses vastly different things and properties, the Greek consistently uses this same word: γη (ge), not a place or territory or particular substance, but "that in which things grow; anything in which whatever grows". Dry land sits in between sea and heaven.
It sprang from the sea (Genesis 1:9, 2 Peter 3:5), which represents the formless beginning of all growth. And it evolves to be like heaven, which contains its final form (Matthew 5:48, 6:10, Revelation 21:1-2)."
Things are too predictable right now. The future must not be so certain. Palestine is a mess, it is wrecked. The Mormons and the rest have ensured it will never know peace. Palestine is a sacred place and its people- it's real people- deserve a good life. For this to happen Israel must start over before it was carved up like an Easter ham.
v. 27: The East Wind. All sins have to be blown away as the seeds of Grace are blown in. The Number is 7337, ז‎גגז‎, "zigzag." The process of elevation, according to the Torah happens in the pattern of a zipper. In order for the Age of Reason to dawn, the Age of Agony has to close.
v. 28: The South Wind. "Understanding." Jesus said a "full kernel in the head" is a requirement of the Gospel Torah.
Once one applies effort to the end of humankind's troubles, one has to apply oneself to the making of an intelligentsia. Harmless, cuddly, fugly dumb people whose ideas of a good time used to include sawing each other's legs off are not what God ordered on His plate.
Tumblr media
Once the Torah and Tanakh are learned, they format the brain on their own provided the mind is growing in every way. To hide from the outside world is not what God intended. We learn this the second we get springy downstairs and the urge to explore the world becomes overwhelming.
The Number is 3339, גגגט‎, "a gadget on the roof."
v. 29: The West Wind. Shabbat! The Age of Enlightenment. Once the mind and the behind catch up to each other and the Self is well known, one detaches from the field of work and retires. The Sickle is the most important aspect of the study of the Torah and the Gospels. It represents emancipation from all the forms of oppression, whether they are physical, intellectual, spiritual, political, digital, all of them.
The Number is 3477, גד‎ז‎ז‎, gadzzzz, "the moment you get moving."
From:
Ga= the moment, the minute, the instant
Dz= then
Zz=moving
Z= is the Seventh.
Grief must no longer consume the cities. It is time for the wind to change directions. The Kingdom of Israel, called the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kindgom of God by the scriptures is waiting.

Day 79 Heading to the desert
Today we start our private four day tour with Mustafa from Colourful Morocco Tours, Marrakesh to Fes. I had another terrible nights' sleep with a consistent headache so I may have missed some interesting sights as I couldn’t keep my eyes open 🥴 Mustafa said I missed “road”. But what I saw out the window was really interesting, a photographer's dream. I did ask a couple of times to stop to take pictures of green doors in Boumalne Dades, near where we are staying, but either it got lost in translation or Mustafa doesn't understand my obsession with doors! He said "you'll see a lot"! But I wanted to take pictures of the best ones!!
First stop was a picture opportunity of the High Atlas Mountains, which we drove through.
Then onto a local argan co-operative where Rose and I tasted argan oil with bread, interesting, a bit tasteless really, we also tried the local honey and almond butter with argan, which was very good. We purchased lip balm and hair masks.
Next stop the famous Aït Benhaddou which was used as a site in films and tv series such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Game of Thrones and the Amazing Race Australia 6! Our guide said that all residents left the ksar and moved to a neighbouring area and the original Unesco town is used for business, although we did not see it thriving as many businesses are still closed due to Eid public holidays. Rose declined the walk to the view point at the top 😳
I had the best chicken pastilla at a nearby restaurant, with icing sugar and cinnamon on top, and not fried and we also tasted Moroccan olive oil. It does have a different flavour to the Italian oil I'm used to, but it is still good. I have asked Mustafa if we might pass an area to buy some. It is usually harvested late in the year, so let's hope they are not sold out or closed.
On to Ouarzazate and the Atlas Movie Studios. We decided not to spend an hour inside the studio but had a look from outside.
We drove through the Valley of the Roses, which I imagine is spectacular in May (so for those looking for travel tips, I'd definitely recommend adding this to your list at the right time of year). I asked if we could stop at a co-operative to view the products, but sadly they were closed too. Mustafa also didn’t stop so I could take a picture. I’m going to be more assertive tomorrow 😂
What has been noticeable, when I was awake, was the quality build of all the mosques in every village compared to the state of the village itself. In some small places there was a mosque on either side of the road. Mustafa said the government pay for the mosques to be constructed. And the storks and their huge nests are here as well, using the mosque as home.
Overnight we’re staying at Sultan Dades which overlooks the city of Boumaine Dades. It’s quite windy. They have an unairconditioned gym! While I was in the gym Rose went with Mustafa and a friend of his to find vapes, I just asked for water 😂

7 Farming Tips for London with Weather Insights
Tumblr media
In the bustling cityscape of London, where skyscrapers punctuate the skyline and parks provide sanctuaries of greenery, urban agriculture is taking root. From rooftop gardens to community allotments, Londoners are embracing the idea of growing their own food in the heart of the city. However, successful farming in an urban environment requires more than just seeds and soil—it also requires an understanding of the unique weather patterns that influence crop growth and garden maintenance. Here are some essential farming tips for London, with insights into weather forecasting to help you make the most of your urban farm.
1. Monitor Microclimates:
London's diverse landscape creates microclimates—localized variations in temperature, humidity, and wind patterns—that can significantly impact plant growth. Use weather forecasting tools and apps to track microclimate data specific to your area, such as temperature variations between sun-exposed rooftops and shaded balconies. This information will help you select the most suitable crops for your microclimate and optimize growing conditions accordingly.
2. Plan Planting Dates:
London's maritime climate is characterized by mild winters and cool summers, but weather fluctuations can occur throughout the growing season. Consult long-range weather forecasts to plan your planting dates strategically, taking into account factors such as frost dates, heat waves, and periods of heavy rainfall. Early spring crops like lettuce and peas can be sown as soon as the soil can be worked, while warm-season crops like tomatoes and peppers should be planted after the risk of frost has passed.
Tumblr media
3. Prepare for Extreme Weather Events:
While London generally experiences temperate weather, extreme weather events such as storms, heat waves, and heavy rainfall can pose challenges for urban farmers. Stay informed about weather warnings and advisories issued by the Met Office, and take proactive measures to protect your crops and infrastructure. Consider investing in sturdy trellises and supports for tall plants, securing lightweight containers during windy conditions, and providing shade and adequate hydration during heat waves.
4. Implement Season Extension Techniques:
London's relatively mild climate allows for year-round growing with the help of season extension techniques such as row covers, cold frames, and polytunnels. Monitor weather forecasts for temperature fluctuations and inclement weather that could threaten sensitive crops, and deploy season extension structures as needed to prolong the growing season and protect plants from frost and wind damage.
5. Manage Water Wisely:
Despite London's reputation for rainfall, water management is still a critical aspect of urban farming, especially during dry spells in the summer months. Incorporate weather forecasting into your irrigation schedule, adjusting watering frequency and duration based on predicted rainfall and evapotranspiration rates. Consider installing rain barrels or harvesting rooftop runoff to supplement irrigation water and reduce reliance on municipal water sources.
6. Adapt to Climate Change:
As climate change brings increased variability and unpredictability to weather patterns, urban farmers in London must adapt and innovate to mitigate its impacts. Stay informed about climate projections and trends affecting the region, and explore resilient farming practices such as drought-tolerant crops, soil conservation techniques, and agroforestry systems that harness the benefits of trees and shrubs to enhance ecosystem resilience.
Tumblr media
7. Foster Weather Resilience:
Ultimately, successful urban farming in London requires resilience in the face of variable weather conditions. By integrating weather forecasting into your farming practices, staying adaptable, and building community networks for support and collaboration, you can navigate the challenges of urban agriculture and cultivate a thriving, resilient garden in the heart of the city.
In conclusion, weather forecasting plays a crucial role in the success of urban farming in London, helping farmers anticipate and respond to the ever-changing weather conditions that influence crop growth and garden management. By incorporating weather insights into your farming practices and embracing resilient techniques, you can cultivate a flourishing urban farm that not only provides fresh, nutritious food but also contributes to the sustainability and resilience of London's urban landscape. So, embrace the forecast, adapt to the elements, and let your urban farm thrive amidst the dynamic rhythms of the city.

Step, another step, and then get down. Quietly, carefully, smoothly. No doubt the night was his time, but still, Claud was afraid of being detected.  Though it has never happened to him. Claud turned around. And one more time, to be extra sure he is going unnoticed. He pushed through the bushes and crept up to the house. Now only time will help him.
Claud has seen her closely only once. At the market during the harvest festival. He was annoyed with the local children. They have found him crying over away canary on the outskirts of the city. He buried his beloved Lucy under an old apple tree and was up to mourn for it. All the locals have heard about the miserable giant with an ugly face and tried to scare their children. However, it had the opposite effect. The children considered his grief hilarious and had nothing better than stoning Claud. He ran fast at full speed, and they were chasing him right down to the city center. The Left was aching badly so he could not distinguish the road. Unexpectedly for himself, Claud jumped out from around the corner to the crowded street and ran into her. The blue eyes, as blue as early spring's sky amazed him and her shy smile ingrained in his memory.
It was windy and drizzly. The cape didn’t protect him at all. Claud was sitting next to the window for half an hour or so. He was eager to shiver, but suddenly she came into the room. It was all worth it. Octavia in a plain milky dress leaned on the sofa with a book. So beautiful and elegant. Her soft golden curls flipped down her shoulders and laid on her back. She looked like an angel. Heaven creature lost on the Earth. Oh, how he wished he was brave enough to hug her, bury his nose into her hair, and smell the sweetest taste of youth and innocence. The thoughts excite him. Soon the image came as a flash. Such a realistic image. The desired image.
He takes off her dress, baring pale tender skin kissed by the moonlight. He squeezed her fragile shoulder and held her closer and closer. She’s smiling. She’s happy to see him. And she wants more despite her shyness. She hugged him and let him kiss her. Kiss right on her lovely coral pink lips. Like lovers do. Claud slid into his pants and grabbed his willy. He knew that it was bad, and he knew that his mother would punish him if she found he did such a thing, but his desire became stronger every second. She closed her eyes and arched, showing him the strength of her body. His fingers caressed her shoulders waist and hips. He smothers her neck with violent kisses and squeezes her breast. She’s moaning softly and asking for more and more…
Suddenly something bumped into his back in the dark. Claud uttered a cry and fell taking out the hand in a hurry. It was the dog, that appeared out of nowhere, scared as much as Claud was. The dog growled ready to attack. He moved carefully. But when he almost reached the bushes, it began barking. The Left starts to ache, and Claud puts pressure on the eye. He was looking for something to make it stop when he saw a frightened glance from the window. She wasn’t glad to see him. She was scared to death. She screamed. Dedicated to the inspirer @vikkirosko
