I wish Knight Rider had a gimmicky fifth season like Quantum Leap with wacky episodes like… an episode where Michael and KITT reverse their roles. Something truly bizarre happens to make Michael a car and KITT a human. David Hasselhoff having the time of his life in a recording booth while William Daniels goes on an adventure

At the moment I’m fantasizing about actor William Daniels. He’s up there in age now but I found him attractive from the ‘80s on. Your feelings?
-Yeah, I had a thing for him, but he didn’t hit my radar until Boy Meets World. Ahh… Topanga and Mr. Feeny. I wore myself out to those two on that show. And I never watched Knight Rider the same way again after I found out he did the voice of KITT.

Knight Rider: Next Generation
I've done a Stargate Next Generation post before, and now here I am doing one for Knight Rider!
The Idea:
Michael Knight {David Hasselhoff} puts F.L.A.G. back together. He takes on the role that Devon Miles used to have in the original show.
Michael finds KITT's old memory banks in an old F.L.A.G. storage vault and uses them to help rebuild KITT. William Daniels reprises his role as the voice of KITT.
Michael hires his granddaughter, Mica Knight, as KITT's new driver. She's very much like a younger female version of Michael. Michael develops a new appreciation for Devon and how the man managed to stay sane throughout all of Michael's shenanigans! KITT and Mica become fast friends, with KITT experiencing a lot of deja vu moments whenever Mica does something especially Michael like.
Bonnie returns with her Grandson, James, to the foundation as KITT's mechanic once more. Bonnie teaches James everything about KITT and how to maintain him.
James and Mica develop a sort of romantic-ish relationship, with a will they won't they get together bit throughout most of the show.
Maybe we find out that Garth had a kid of his own before he died in the original show. And now that kid is all grown up and causing havoc for Mica and the Foundation. The kid blames Michael, KITT, and the Foundation for their father's death and they want revenge. Maybe they even have a kid of their own whose around the same age or maybe a little younger than Mica. They've tried to raise their kid to hate Michael and the Foundation as much as them, but the kid wants nothing to do with their parent's revenge schemes. The kid didn't even know their grandfather, and is able to recognize that Garth was a bad guy who caused his own death. Garth's grand kid defects to the Foundation becoming part of team F.L.A.G.
And maybe we find out that somehow KARR survived as well and makes a come back of his own. Maybe he starts out still being evil, but somehow Mica manages to rehabilitate him. Maybe Garth's grand kid who defected to the Foundation becomes KARR's driver.

My Book Review
I finished this book a week ago. I’m still struggling to put my thoughts into words because this book jam packs a load of history in 430 pages. Where does one start?
Bright Boulevards, Bold Dreams travels back in time to the founding of what would be Los Angeles in 1781 by a group of eleven families—forty four Black Spaniards— before building upon the land and establishing what would be the home of the film industry. This book spans six decades within the history of Black actors in Hollywood beginning with Madame Sul-Te-Wan, the first. It even includes those surrounding the Hollywood scene like dancer Carmen de Lavallade and Paul Williams, the foremost trailblazing Black architect who created the blueprint for the eye-catching structures and homes of the stars still standing firm today.
Tumblr media
Bright Boulevards, Bold Dreams is a lot to take in from the bad to the good. It’s partly because the wealth of info would be more digestible had it been fleshed out further without creating a sweeping effect (like snippets) through moments in time to build the larger framework. After all, we’re talking sixty years.
I’m a cinephile so I would’ve enjoyed more focus into the actual creation of a number of films, particularly the all-Black productions in those days. As for the gossip scene and the 👀 happenings in their world, here’s a snippet: Duke Ellington had an affair with Freida Washington, whom she felt was the love of her life. Duke wouldn't leave his wife so Freida did work in Paris to keep busy and get over him. When she returned, she ended up marrying a member of Duke’s band 🙃. Also, Lena Horne had an on and off-again affair with heavyweight boxer, Joe Louis. Might be hella messy and pearl-clutching in our world, but you gotta remember Hollywood is its own world. Small. They operate differently and nothing is swept under the rug in their society. Though discreet, everyone knew everyone’s biz.
I can’t even imagine the amount of research that went into making this book. It’s def worth the read. Just know that it may feel a little dense because it’s so many actors, gigs ands so forth spanning decades.
PHOTOSET: Madame Sul-Te-Wan, Ernest “Sunshine Sammy” Morrison, Ethel Waters with Freida Washington, Daniel L. Haynes with Nina Mae McKinney, Mildred Washington, The Nicolas Brothers, Eartha Kitt with Sammy Davis Jr, Joe Louis with Lena Horne, and the Dandridge sisters: Dorothy and Vivian.
SN: Off-topic. The author’s surname, Bogle, caught my attention when I first got this book, which had to be about about 10 years ago now. (Yes, this book has been sitting on my shelf for that long...among the other 600+.) The only Black Americans I’m familiar with with that surname are from Philly dating back to chef Robert Bogle, the creator of catering:
Tumblr media
Whad'ya know? The author too is from Philly. I’m curious if they’re related. That’s a book in and of itself.

The Caribbean entered modern history “as the pawn of European power politics, the cockpit of Europe, the arena of Europe’s wars hot and cold,” wrote Eric Williams almost a half century ago [...]. Indeed, Shalini Puri and Lara Putnam argue that military operations and the political culture of militarism make for the coherence of the region [...].
Certain zones -- including Guantánamo, the subject of the collection by Don E. Walicek and Jessica Adams -- have borne special, enduring burdens in this regard. [...] The Caribbean moved into the twentieth century on a major martial note. In 1898 the United States intervened into the armed Cuban anticolonial struggle against Spain, [...] and taking on the imaginary white man’s burden. For North Americans, the many consequences of this speedy and “splendid” war included the appropriation of Cuba’s Guantánamo Bay (1903) for use as the republic’s first overseas naval base. [...] Diana Coleman, for example, locates the symbolic significance of the base and prison in a deeper past, a history that goes back to the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. [...] Walicek’s essay establishes that the very embeddedness of Guantánamo in an imperial past has been erased by official discourse. He notes that even before the post-9/11 war on terror, Haitians and Cubans seeking asylum found themselves detained in Gitmo. [...] Examining visual representations, Esther Whitfield emphasizes the struggle of local artists to show Gitmo, against the cliché as a “no man’s land,” to be a place inhabited by people. [...] The greatest physical expansion of Gitmo came during World War II, a period of profound militarization across the Caribbean  [...]. Also set in wartime Trinidad, Rita Pemberton’s essay plays up the paradox of food scarcity and insecurity in the midst of Yankee-sponsored prosperity. [...]
---
Meanwhile twenty-first-century Caribbeans have had to deal with a nominally novel form of warfare, the U.S.-led “War on Drugs.” This campaign, Deborah Thomas recounts, pushed Jamaican security forces to invade the Kingston community of Tivoli [...]. How residents have remembered this “Tivoli Incursion” and how their memories expose doubtful feelings about sovereignty in Jamaica is Thomas’s central concern. [...]
Grace Johnson focuses on the early twentieth-century U.S. occupation of Haiti, stressing [...] the way these women played a central role in the protests that eventually led to the end of the occupation. [...]
Vieques also serves as the setting for Daniel Arbino’s piece on the violent history of the U.S. military presence and the protests that led to the demilitarization of the little island in 2004.
Don Walicek brings awareness to the landing of British paratroopers and marines in Anguilla in 1969 after leaders on the island declared “independence” from St. Kitts and Nevis. Little known outside of Anguilla, this British Invasion (“Operation Sheepskin”) reminds us that in the age of decolonization tiny Caribbean societies too were caught up in militant struggles for self-government. Unlike the case of Anguilla, the U.S. invasion of Grenada in 1984 has been the subject of numerous studies [...]
---.
Two other essays concerned with Trinidad also center on music.
Jocelyne Guilbault insightfully links the anxiety about armed violence to the increasing use of militarized policing at the large soca “fetes” that define the island’s Carnival season.
And Louis Regis (recently passed) turns away from the insecurity of soca fetes and toward the texts of songs to examine the treatment of military issues in calypso and soca across the twentieth century. Dealing with a massive discography, Regis stresses a range of themes, showing how lyrics have moved from warning women about predatory policemen, to condemning the U.S. invasion of Grenada and pleading for peace. [...]

Goblins of Discord 👹 Enneagram Type Database 🤓
All typings have a corresponding youtube video (linked). Many more on their way. Please note, that some of these are likely to change a bit in the future.
I’ll probably update a handful of older ones soon, as my understanding of the Enneagram has evolved since some of them were made (and is still deepening). This obsession is all-consuming and I won’t stop until I can psychically intuit every single type + instinct combination on sight, within 10 seconds and am rebirthed into my next form as the 🧞‍♀️👁️ human pixie frequency diviner of the apocalypse. 😈 🔥
If you think you’ve found a weirdo type and might want to join a typing call, DM larissa on the goblinsofdiscord instagram, or post the type below in the comments.
🍄 👀 If you want to book a typing call or submit an introvert video (of you or someone you know) to be picked over, spitroasted, impression’ed on, click here.

Important context: KITT was voiced by William Daniels aka Mr. Feeney:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"KITT is a sentient AI car. he can think, talk, crack jokes and drive around on his own, and he fights crime with his human friend and gets into like cool stunts and stuff. the thing is, i think his voice is really cute and kinda hot (think a mixture between HAL 9000 and Edgar from Electric Dreams if you know those) and his personality is really endearing; he's witty and sarcastic sometimes, but it's always in good fun, and sometimes when his friend makes a joke at KITT's expense he'll get a little sensitive about his ego in a really cute way. you can tell he cares about his friend and about saving the day in whatever episode, and... i don't know but i just. really want to kiss the car. he has this red scanner bar thing (as he's supposed to be super high tech and he can like scan for bombs or other cars and stuff), and it's a nice deep red colour; similarly, on his dashboard there's a display with little bars that light up red when he talks, and i think all his little red lights are really nice to look at. i'm embarrassingly attracted to this car. whenever i see this show is on, i tune in just to see him and hear him speak... i don't exactly know how he'd fuck, but he's equipped with so many different gadgets and stuff i'm sure he could like make his seats vibrate or something. in summation KITT my beloved what that gearstick do"

William Daniels and his wife, Bonnie Bartlett, in 1986 winning Emmys for St. Elsewhere. William was also the voice of KITT in Knight Rider, and the wise Mr. Feeny. I remember Bonnie as well from Little House On The Prairie and V The Mini Series in 1983. But wow they married each other back in 1951. Both in the 90s now and still going strong.  God bless them!

My favorite musical!
Oddly enough, Nixon didn’t object to “Cool Considerate Men” when 1776 was on Broadway (it opened some 8 weeks after his inauguration), perhaps because he figured only a few people would see it. On the other hand, it ran for 1217 performances over 3 years. If no one ever saw it twice and the house was full at every show, that’s almost 2 million viewers.
John Adams of Massachusetts (the short one in brown) is William Daniels, who would later star in St. Elswhere and be the voice of KITT in Knight Rider. John Dickinson of Pennsylvania (the tall one in green) is Donald Madden, a Shakespearean actor who died too young (aged 49 from lung cancer). Apart from this, he was best known for Hamlet on Broadway in 1961.
