"Faerie Tale Theatre" Posthumous Reunion: The Stars' Final Resting Places
Some people might think I'm obsessed with death. A minor hobby of mine is to research celebrities' final resting places, via the website Find a Grave and the YouTube channel Hollywood Graveyard. And I like perusing themed guides to famous graves. For example, Hollywood Graveyard's videos themed to Christmas, Halloween, the cast and crew of The Wizard of Oz, cast and crew members of The Twilight Zone, etc., or Find A Grave's "Posthumous Reunion" pages for famous movie and TV show casts, sports teams, etc.
I decided to create a similar guide for the cast of Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. Sadly, all too many stars of that cult classic series are no longer with us. Here's a guide (with links to Find a Grave pages) to the various places where those stars are buried, in case anyone here might like to visit a few someday.

The day of Lillian's funeral coincided with the first snow of the winter. All around the neighborhood, families huddled together by fireplaces, the warmth of their love shielding them from the cold.
The Mosleys were not so lucky. They couldn't afford a plot at the cemetery so Lillian was buried at the farm. "She'd be happy to still be close to you all", Cousin Celeste had said to comfort Willard but he was in no mood for such. He was in no mood for much except sobbing.
As the children listened to their father's cries echoing through the tiny cottage, they couldn't help but feel that though they had only buried their mother, they had also lost their father.

Animator no. 7 - Willard Bowsky
Although 'Popeye: the Sailor man' is one of the oldest animated series in the history of animation I remember watching it as a kid and being entertained by every second of it. So of course, I should do some research on at least one of the animators to show my respect and appreciation for this cartoon.
Willard Bowsky
(Unfortunately, I couldn't find a clearer picture of him on Google)
Art Style
Willard Bowsky is a motion picture animator best known for his contributions to the 'Popeye the Sailor' cartoons of the 1930s.
He was born on September 26th, 1907, in New York City.
He joined the 'Fleischer Studio' in the last 1920s and quickly became one of its star artists, winning promotions to animator at the age of 23.
His drawing skills and instinctive feel for jazz rhythms made him an asset in creating early cartoons of 'Betty Boop'. His work was quite stylish in its fluid movement and well-chosen compositions.
He became a supervising animator in 1933 and had his own team where he could handle staging for films credited to 'Dave Fleischer'.
He was the animation director for over 30 Popeye cartoons from 1933-1941.
When Paramount pictures reorganized the Fleischer company and famous studios in 1942, Bowsky left for World War 2 service.
On November 27, 1944, Bowsky was killed in a nighttime firefight with German forces east of Paris, France.
He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
He is buried at the American Cemetery and Memorial in Saint-Avold, France.
Below is the link to one of the Betty Boop episodes animated by Bowsky

Day 7. Monday Sept 11, Post I of II: Washington DC. OMG, I have long wanted to visit DC, and now I know why. This place is a goldmine of landmarks and history.
I start off the day buying a hop on hop off bus tour ticket and walking downtown to the nearest stop. As I wait for the bus, I realise that I am across the street from the Ford Theater where Lincoln was assassinated and in front of the Peterson House where he was taken for treatment but unfortunately died.
Looking to cheer up I hop on the bus which has justcartived. Simply speaking, Washington DC is aligned north to south with the Potomac River running along the west side and the National Mall running east from the river for about two miles, parallel to Constitution Ave.
At the far west end of the National Mall, overlooking the river and the Arlington Memorial Bridge stands the Lincoln Memorial. If you go west and cross the river, you are in Virginia and at Arlington Cemetery. This 269-acre national site holds over 400,000 graves, including JFK and Jackie Onassis and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I also happened to trip over Robert McNamara's tomb stone.
Meanwhile, back in DC, if you look east from.the Lincoln Memorial down the National Mall, you see in sequence the Reflecting Pool, the WWII Memorial, the Washington Monument and far in the distance the US Capital. About one third if the way down, immediately to the left (north) of the Washington Momument, sits the White House.
Washington DC is chock full of significant historical buildings. Rather than trying g to recreate my route, let me just run down what I saw and remember:
Fords Theater
The White House
The Willard Hotel, located near the Whitehouse, it was a prime location for dignitaries. It is rumored that those wishing to petition their causes would often wait in the lobby, hoping to bump into their intended targets, thus begat the name lobbyists.
The FBI building where J Edgar Hoover ruled from 1935 to 1972.
The US Capital
US Treasury
Library of Congress
The original US Post Office, now a Waldorf Astoria Hotel
Numerous Smithsonian Museums, all free
L'Enfant Plaza
The International Spy Museum
Washington Monument
The Holocaust Memorial
Jefferson Memorial
FDR and MLK Memorials
Lincoln Memorial
Albert Einstein Memorial
Arlington Cemetery
WWII Memorial
The National History Museum
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing where paper mo ey is printed (as opposed to the mint which strikes coins).
There was more, but for now, that's all I can remember, and you get the picture.
The highlight of the day, however, turned out to be my trip to The Capital. Following a structured tour where I saw the inside of the rotundra and the original meeting rooms for the House and the Senate, I was permitted as a visitor to the US to witness a vote in the Senate. They were not actually sitting in session, so I sat there for an hour while the senators dropped by to vote. I didn't know many of them, among those I did see and recognize were:
Cory Booker
Susan Collins
John Cornyn
Ted Cruz
Dianne Feinstein
Chuck Grassley
Amy Klobuchar
Lisa Murkowski
Mitt Romney
Marco Rubio
Bernie Sanders
Chuck Schumer
Kirsten Sinema
Tommy Tuberville
Elizabeth Warren
It was quite the day. I walked back to my hotel in the Union Market area through the gentrifying areas to the north and east of the historic downtown core area I'd been prowling. DC's population is currently circa 720,000, but it is clearly growing and expanding.

Yesterday morning I drove out to Ithaca to begin work on the suitcases documentary that I am working on with Peter Carroll and Deborah Hoard.
After a quick lunch at the Lincoln Street Diner, Peter and I drove up to Willard to shoot some B-roll in the Cemetery.
It is a special place to visit in so many ways. When I took this photograph, the smell of mint was intense. It seemed odd that it was…

Reid’s Chapel Baptist Church and Cemetery, Georgia
Reid’s Chapel Baptist Church and Cemetery, Georgia
Willard, Putnam County I am unable to locate much information on the church. The cemetery is active with burials as recent as 2021. The names on most of the headstones were some version of Clements, Clemons, and Clemmons. Several of the headstones had impressions on the back of the headstones.

Tom (Thomas T.) Julien, 91, Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2023.
Tom was born June 27, 1931, in Arcanum, Ohio. He was the sixth of Russell and Clara Julien’s seven children. Raised in a Christian home, he received Christ as his Savior at an early age and during his teenage years dedicated his life to the Lord for missionary service. It was at Bob Jones University that he met Doris Briner, whose spiritual experience was identical. They were married Aug. 21, 1953. The year following, they moved to Winona Lake, where Tom studied at Grace Theological Seminary and received his MDiv in 1957 and his Doctor of Divinity in 1996. During their years in Winona Lake, they started the Grace Brethren Church in Fort Wayne.
In October 1958, the Juliens left for France, serving under Grace Brethren Foreign Missions (now Encompass World Partners). After language study in Geneva, Switzerland, and initial attempts in evangelism in Grenoble, France, they acquired the Château, a 14th century property in Burgundy which became a center for encounter and discussion. During the next 20 years, they were involved in the ministry of evangelism, teaching and church-planting. During this time, the Europe team grew to over 50 missionaries in four countries.
In 1986, the Juliens were asked to return to Winona Lake where Tom became the executive director of the mission. He served for a year as its moderator. Upon Tom’s retirement in 2000, the Juliens moved to Paris, France, for three years, where they were in a ministry with university students. Since moving back to Winona Lake, Tom became involved in the development of leadership training both for the mission and the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, where he served on the pastoral staff.
Tom’s wife Doris went to be with the Lord in 2009. Tom is survived by three children, Becky (David) Schwan, Willard, Ohio, Terry Julien, Winona Lake and Jacqueline (Jeff) Schram, Winona Lake; five grandchildren, David (Emily Hobert) Schwan, Ellensburg, Wash., Rachel (Steve) Williams, Houston, Texas, Philip Schwan, Willard, Ohio, Jonathan Schram (fiancée Heather Cummings), Charlotte, N.C. and Joelle (Brandon) Haun, Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Gray, Van, Wren and Warren. He loved his family well and was deeply loved by them. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and four sisters.
Friends and family may visit from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Tom’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Kip Cone and Terry White. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Tom’s service will be livestreamed on Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WLGBC on Saturday.
Encompass World Partners has created the Tom Julien Memorial Fund to honor Tom’s life of ministry.
