Jäger x GN!Reader: Human After All

Trigger Warnings: angst with a good ending, body horror, near death experience, slight body takeover, Archæan infected reader, shapeshifting, implication of PTSD (Jäger)

The outbreak started so suddenly all those years ago. With the crash of an old spacecraft infested with whatever alien parasite that was in it, you and two other CBRN operators joined Rainbow to figure out what’s going on in the first place and how to get rid of it. Once that mission was complete, you continued to work with Rainbow throughout the years until suddenly—the parasite resurfaced. Your previous studies and research came to use for the ones you knew how to deal with but there was something different about them. Several new Archæan have come into existence and are able to resist the previous cure made by you and several other professionals.

It had gotten so bad in the beginning, that even you got infected.

You had no clue how you were even conscious, as the parasite’s way of infection was through host control. It horrified you, to see the spikes that replaced the very limbs you once called arms and legs. Your entire body was seemingly covered in what was a type of goopy and disgusting slime. Looking at yourself in the broken glass once you had first been infected made you want to cry, as the moment your fellow operators saw you—they’d surely kill you. You feared most if it was Marius, your boyfriend of 7 years, that came to be the one to stumble upon your new and grotesque form. What would he do if he saw you? Would he scream? Would he be so disgusted that he just flat out killed you? Or would he try to save you?

Whatever it was, you were terrified of the reaction.

Days turned to weeks where you figured you weren’t even being looked for and you hoped it would remain that way. But sometimes, it doesn’t work out the way you want—after at least one year of the second outbreak, you were finally found by your fellow operators. Instead of the usual 5 like your previous missions, only 3 of them showed up. And from the way their new and improved uniforms looked, you figured they were better prepared than you were when it started. “It seems like the irregular reading is in the room across from us. Let’s proceed carefully.” a familiar voice said. Julien was the one that was speaking, and you watched the other two nod and turn to where you had been hiding.

“There it is…move carefully and quietly, we don’t want it to alert the others downstairs…” another one said softly. Shuhrat’s voice, one you barely heard when you worked together but could identify easily. The third of the trio didn’t speak as they began to slowly and carefully inch towards the room you were in. Afraid of being taken out, you begin to back away until you hit the wall behind you. They carefully enter the room, weapons drawn and aimed right at you. You make a small click of fear, putting your arms in front of yourself as a method of defense.

“Is that you…Y/N…?” the third finally says softly.

And just as you were hoping to avoid, Marius had come on the team of operators sent to scout the area for a strange Archæan. “Mar…i…us…” you croak hoarsely, lowering your arms to properly look at him. He slowly places his carbine on the floor and raises his arms, coming closer to you. “Marius, don’t get too close. We don’t know if they’ll attack or not.” Julien warns. Marius doesn’t care however, walking closer to get a better look at your face. Despite many of the new Archæan looking completely different than the ones that were previously here, you were the only one that managed to keep your face. You didn’t even know if other humans had been infected like you, as Archæans seemingly came from their reinforced nests.

“How…” Marius whispered as he reached out to touch your face. You flinch a bit, only to relax slightly once his hand comes into contact with your cheek. “Stop touching their face. You already know what we’re here for.” Shuhrat says coldly. You have to look hard just to see Marius’ eyes, and you could see the pain within. “Right…” he says softly. Marius then takes something out to take a small vial of your blood, and you keep yourself still. He hands it over to Julien once he’s finished, and then Julien nods once he processes it.

“Tier Three Archæan: Tormentor. Can shape-shift to the organic growth, Sprawl, to ensure a fluid-like speed. Uses small homing projectiles in rapid succession or a larger and slower projectile to attack. The weak point of a Tormentor is its head.” he explains, turning to look at and giving you a cold, hostile glare. “Stop looking at Y/N that way. They haven’t even resisted or alerted any of the others. If they’re truly going to be of use to getting rid of the Archæans, it’s better to bring them back to us.” Marius says in defense of you, crossing his arms. “And for how long will they be unresponsive to our presence, hm?” Julien says.

Marius falters slightly, only to remain firm in his belief of you being harmless, “They’ve been missing for a year and don’t seem to have moved from this floor of the building. There was no other Archæan up here but Y/N—it’s safe for us to bring them back to base.” he says. “They risk infecting the entire facility if we bring them back.” Shuhrat says curtly. “So then we keep them in a completely quarantined part of the facility. That containment room is finished, right? We can just leave Y/N in there until we figure out the best way to get rid of these new variants of the Chimera bacteria.” Marius says sternly. “Marius, even if that was possible, who would be the one overseeing them? Who would make sure nobody gets infected?” Julien asks.

Marius falters once again and shakes his head, “We have tons of doctors working with us. Only one will be closest to the and will gather samples the further along they go with their research.” he says. “Tsk…we’re going to have to ask Eliza and Elena if this is a good idea…” Julien says softly. He then exits the room to report to Eliza about this new proposition and after a few minutes, he then re-enters the room. “Let's hurry to the extraction zone, we have to go now before the other Archæans get any ideas somehow.” Julien says.

“Danke…I’m grateful you considered my words. Come on Y/N, let’s go…” Marius says, turning to look at you. “No…danger…” you say softly. “We’ll be okay, please…” he pleads. You shake your head, carefully extending your arms and pushing him away. “Hey. Don’t push him.” Shuhrat says, raising his LMG and aiming it at you. “Leave…please…” you say. “I’m not leaving without you. I spent so long searching for my lost love—just come with us and we’ll help.” Marius says, turning back to look at you. “Make a decision now, Y/N. Either you come with us or you stay behind and die.” Julien says.

Frozen in place upon hearing his words, you think for a moment before finally deciding to go with them. You carefully lead them towards the safest path towards their extraction zone, only to have a few isolated Grunts become alerted. “Shit! Run to cover!” Julien exclaims. The Grunts come towards you all quickly, and you quickly become defensive of the trio as they make their way to some cover. Shape-shifting into Sprawl, you make your way towards the Grunts and attack them in order to protect your former colleagues. Though primarily under the impression that you were going to aid them in attacking Marius and the others, they didn’t think much once you came right towards them. You let out a screech to establish your dominance.

Firing your projectiles right at them, you make critical hits on them to ensure their deaths. One of them still seems to be alive however, and this enraged you. “Protect…Marius..!” you exclaim. Rushing the straggler, you use the sharp point of your arm and drive it right into the Grunt’s face to effectively finish it off. Breathing heavily, you wait to see if any other Archæans will make its way to the 4 of you. You’re lucky, as you detect no others coming up the stairs. Turning to look at the trio, you then go back into Sprawl form and reappear with them. “How are you able to do that?” Julien asks. You simply look at him like he’s stupid and gesture to your practically humanless figure. “Right, right…sorry…” he apologizes nervously.

You then shake your head out of disappointment and safely lead the trio to their evac site. Once there, you see a helicopter already there and waiting to take them. Unsure whether or not it’ll be a bad idea for you to get on with them in the state you’re in, you turn away from them and take a few steps. “Grab them, now!” a voice you couldn’t quite recognize yet yelled. Before you could move, you were captured and made unconscious. Hours would pass and you’d soon wake up once again, finding yourself tied down and hooked up to machinery. Nobody was inside the bright room with you, but you could see several doctors outside discussing things you wish you could understand.

Scared more than everything, you see the doctors scrambling to try and calm you. The entrance to the room you were in was then opened, and a figure heavily covered in a hazmat suit frantically ran towards you. “Mein Engel, what’s happening? Why are you panicking?” the figure asked. “Marius..?” you ask. He frantically nods, gently putting his hands on your face to hold it. “Don’t…tie me up…let me go…” you say. “I-I…mein Engel I can’t do that…” Marius says sadly. “Please…” you beg softly. Marius’ heart aches upon seeing you in the state you’re in, and he turns around to look at the doctors that were watching on.

They seemed to be deliberating to figure out what decision should be made, only for them to look back at you and give Marius the signal. Marius then begins to shakily and quickly remove everything from you to keep you happy. Overwhelmed with a sad emotion upon finally being reunited with your lover, you embrace him tightly. Stunned and slightly afraid of this, Marius pushes you off of him. You then become even more upset and back away from him, figuring he must be detested by your form. “N-No, no wait, please! I just…I will admit I got a bit scared…it reminded me of the time I was surrounded by so many Roaches…” he says, reaching out and carefully grabbing your arms.

Looking into his eyes, the level of pity and grief he held for you was genuine. “I…missed you so much…sorry…” you apologize softly. “I missed you too, Y/N. I promise we’ll fix you…we can be together again and live our lives until the end…just promise me something, too.” Marius says softly. You nod, your piercing red eyes staring into his, “Please, promise me that you will never hurt anybody that doesn’t deserve it…” he says. “I promise…love…you…” you whisper, voice shaky as your emotions continue to overwhelm you. “Ich liebe dich auch, mein Engel…” Marius whispers back. This time he embraces you tightly, holding onto you as he begins to cry.

Though you are unable to shed tears of your own, you wished it was possible.

pop report #8 (today's top hits, 9/24/24)

today's top twenty – short n' salty

A whole Brat Summer has come and gone since we last left off. I tumbled belatedly down Charli’s rabbit hole in January, when I was looking for something to flatter a high, and she ended up blowing my world apart. I’d slept on her a decade ago, when she was both sugar and spice – everything nice, really – in hits which have aged varying degrees of well. Yet her 2015 union with PC Music was what put the form to her urge to soundscape – unlike the DMT-addled Todd Rundgren of fifty years ago, of whom she’s a fan, she’s nothing if not collaborative. When I first played brat, besotted as any sane person would be by the effervescent “360”, I found its music too metallic and its melodies overly astringent. Mea culpa – now no less an authority than our next president [knock, knock] has validated her cultural primacy.

So you won’t catch me complaining anymore – it couldn’t have happened to a more visionary icon. But of course, the year belongs to neither Charli, nor the victor in the battle of the quarter-century (not talking about Beyoncé v. Swift, who I think it’s safe to say overdid themselves into a draw this time out). Armed with little more than a wand, a rabbit, and a kabuki-meets-Cyndi Lauper aesthetic, the Midwest Princess finally completed her year-long rise this fall. Meanwhile, in Chappell’s shadow, the Last Straight Femme has put a bow on a fascinating saga that kicked off with “Drivers License”, while Olivia takes sour selfies abroad. And the season of the sticks is long over, with the cabal of bros who once threatened to turn 2024 into the Year of the Dude proving one-hit wonders – or if not one, at least a lot less than F-1 trillion.

But the bro atop half of Today’s Top Hit, Bruno Mars, is a different breed altogether – like his duet partner, one L. Gaga, a star so massive he’s transcended this plane, if not the material world. The languidly soulful waltz “Die with a Smile” sounds to me like an AI dream about “Beautiful Things” being less annoying, and as with everything else America can’t stop listening to (including “Beautiful Things”), someday soon I’m sure I’ll love it. But it still turns on vocals which grind into sincerity, yielding more sawdust than sparks, and presumably won’t unite a wedding dancefloor like “Uptown Funk” or “Bad Romance” ages from now. I suppose each artist thought they had to remind us that they were alive, and forgive my cynicism that the song is doing so well on branding power alone (well, and maybe those outfits).

Tate McRae is another one who feels greedier for the public than vice versa, but it’s ok – “It’s ok I’m ok” is a bit more than OK, the rapid-fire rap hook and sudden wash of synth atmospherics disrupting its relative self-repetition. It's another one that promises to grow over a slow fade; I’d say pop hits are fading slower than ever, but really, it’s always been this way. It does boast some brevity, said to be the soul of something in limited currency – its brisk two and a half minutes feel closer to 75 seconds. Lasting as long is #3, a single about lingering, Short n’ Sweet (ha)’s attention-seizing opener “Taste”. Whereas Olivia’s overtures to authenticity made her so compelling, Sabrina leans into the prefab, and it’s fab every time, fam. Its throwback feel is one of its chiefest virtues – it’s a dead ringer for the Divinvyls, and who doesn't dig the Divinyvls?

The fun of Chappell Roan is which of her big hits you can’t escape at any given moment – only “Pink Pony Club”, which is basically a standard now, is falling behind the rest of the pack. #4 on today’s TTH is “Good Luck, Babe”, its chorus such a pristine flourish of frosting it’s always good for getting through, coming out or kissing off. It’s the first in a trio of queer victories down the list, followed by Charli’s zero-melody banger “Guess”, feat. Billie E, whose subsequently-slotted “Birds of a Feather” is to “we can’t be friends” (#21) as Sour is to Short n’ Sweet. Here’s a girl who writes like she earned both her Oscars. This sapphic streak goes up in flames with the Weeknd, a painfully-straight whose strongest hits sound super gay anyway. After The Idol, the flames are all he can dance in.

#s 8-12 are five stalwart inescapables – that me espresso, H-O-T-T-O-G-O, J.J. Abrams’ nepo baby keenly cornering the “wounded submissive with an acoustic guitar” half of the Taylor Swift market (her vocals softening Olivia’s bratty diction with Billie’s volume control – “I Love You, I’m Sorry”, not as good as “Risk” but still good), Hozier cornering the Adam Levine market (it’s not my aphrodisiac, but the sky still splits open at that wailing instrumental break), errybody in the bahr gittin’ tyup-seh. Then the crisp, honeyed “Apple”, one of a handful of excellent hooks (not to mention lyrics) I missed like a dumb bitch when I was being a brat about brat. Benson Boone’s “Slow it Down” (no one asked you to, BB) sounds extra hoary directly after – though yet again, he builds up to something more worth your while than you expect from the first minute.

Depending on how you look at it, no two bros need more or less help than Post Malone and Morgan Wallen. But for their stab at the song of the summer – per Billboard, it worked – six additional bros lent a hand (though, credit where due, one of them is named Ashley). “I Had Some Help” is solid, and as with all decent-plus generic pop hits gets better or worse depending on the weather in your town or head. Still, the main takeaway is that both men would love to be Sabrina Carpenter, if not Chappell Roan. Next in line is the only member of the Tortured Poets’ Department that doesn’t sound asleep, "I Can Do it With a Broken Heart", a missile aimed directly under Joe Alwyn’s skin – the same summer the latter decided it would be a canny career move to play a rapist in Yorgos Lanthimos’ hasty surrender of his newly-acquired feminist cred.

After Tommy “Temporarily” Richman’s programmatic percolator “Million Dollar Baby” – his album will be called Coyote, though he might’ve just as easily gone with I, Robot – comes a new one for the stomp-clappers Noah Kahan pulled out of the woodwork: Myles Smith’s “Stargazing”. Anyone who’s ever wondered what Chris Martin would sound like fronting Mumford & Sons will be free to turn their attention elsewhere. Then there’s an arresting little club-designed mystery I haven’t heard before – “Move”, by two white guys (Adam Port and Stryv) and a Black vocalist (Malachiii) gently cashing in on a bourgeoning Afrobeats bubble (on this hemisphere, anyway – it’s an embarrassment of riches on the other). It’s a big hit in Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Austria – shades of ABBA, who never crossed the color line in their lives.

I’d call #20 the secret song of the summer – while many of us are feeling hot to go and so Julia, there are still plenty of shitty vibes to go around, not to mention shitty men (this writer included). Justice doesn’t get more poetic than “Please Please Please” hitting the top in a surging crop of penis-pop. While Sabrina’s triumphs are often trifles, “Please” nails an almost unprecedented level of sexual-politics profundity without a speck of strain or waste (I’d be shocked if it featured more than three instruments). Sure, Olivia’s righteous rage always hits like a tonic, but something about Carpenter’s straight-to-the-point disappointment feels a great deal more potent. Imagine if Lesley Gore, not to mention Aretha Franklin, had had “I beg you, don’t embarrass me motherfucker” at their disposal. Even then, neither would’ve delivered that last word with the same score-settling perfection. Morgan Wallen and Post Malone will always have some help. 2024’s pop queens don’t need any.

My Top Ten Favorite Characters are

1. Asta

I think part of the reason why I love Asta a lot stems from the fact that my expectations for Black Clover were pretty low. A lot of people complained about Asta's voice and personality so I thought I would just have to do my best to ignore Asta. But his voice didn't bother me and I'm glad I watched it because I love Asta.

I also love Asta because what's not to love about him. He's such a lovable goofball and he reminds me of myself when I was his age. Not to mention, I love turning on Black Clover when I'm exercising because it's easier for me to stay motivated to keep going.

2. Finral

I love Finral so much. He's such a nice guy and such a wet cat of a human being.

Also, I'm used to characters like Finral being annoying and perverted and that's what I expected when he was first on screen. But he's exact opposite. It's obvious that he's just a touch starved guy. To use an example, when Finral learned that Nero was actually a girl and he immediately flirts and just as quickly apologizes for it.

3. Yami

HE'S SO WEIRD in the best way possible. He kinda just does whatever he wants and doesn't let anything stop him.

Not to mention, as a neurodivergent person, it's nice to see an adult in powerful position give a chance to the weirdos and outcasts of the world.

4. Mereoleona

She's weird in her own way. She decided that instead of joining the Crimson Lions to just... live alone in the wilderness. Iconic.

Then when Fuegoleon was in a coma, she makes fun of him in the way that older sisters do. Like Yami, she just kinda does whatever she wants, sees the potential in people no matter their walk of life, and cares deeply for her squad and her little brothers.

5. Vanessa

Vanessa has a lot of personality traits that I wish I had. She's pretty laid back, takes shit from no one, caring, and can stand up for herself. I stress myself out a lot in life and it's honestly gotten in the way of me forming some friendships and has made me a yes woman when I really shouldn't.

6. Leopold

I want to put him in my pocket. He's so cute and nerdy. He loves competition and cares a lot for his friends. Also he reminds me a lot of a few friends I had in middle school.

7. Mimosa

Mimosa is really sweet but she still has other parts to her personality. She's gets annoyed at her brother a lot. I also relate to the fact that she sometimes is just really mean on accident. She can't read people's emotions to save her life.

I also really like the fact that she's a healer but treated with respect. I'm used to characters like her just being thrown in the background and portrayed only as weak and expendable. But she's give her moments to shine and the fact that she's in the Golden Dawn is proof of that.

8. Noelle

I didn't think I would like her when I first started watching Black Clover. Characters like her are typically one dimensional, shoved in the background, and are simply just the main character's love interest. But Noelle is different. She stands on her own two feet and can snap a bone when she needs to.

9. Yuno

I just think he's neat.

10. Klaus

From the Golden Dawn trio, I feel like Klaus is the straight man out of them. He's pretty calm but he does have his intense moments.

Honorable mentions: Luck, Zora, Fuegoleon, Rill, Julius, Liebe, Nacht, Gordon, and Dorothy.

My Favorite Ships are

1. Magluck (Magna/Luck)

I'm actually pretty sad that this ship isn't that popular. I started shipping them pretty early in the show. I think I started shipping them in Arc 5 (Seabed Temple Arc) but I was completely sold on their relationship after this hug.

2. MarsFana (Mars/Fana)

Not much to say here. These two have a very simple but nice romance. It's a very cookie cutter romance and some times that's all a romance needs to be. It's really hard to ruin childhood friends to lovers anyway.

I'd love to see more of them though considering how important they were in the beginning.

3. Finral x Finesse (do these guys have a ship name?)

I know that this ship isn't really popular and it makes sense. Finesse was added later in the show and. But I think she's good for Finral and it's clear he loves her. His devotion to change is strong and is another reason why I love him.

I don't have a lot a romantic ships for this show. Some honorable mentions: Astelle (Asta/Noelle), Greyche (Grey/Gauche)

My Favorite Platonic Ships are

1. Finral and Vanessa

These two share one (1) braincell and I love it.

Not to mention I love their parallels. They're both very flirty and come from a family that treated them poorly because of their magic. For Vanessa, Witch Queen saw potential in Vanessa and locked her away while Finral's skills were overlooked in favor of bother's. Vanessa is more confident while Finral is pretty cowardly. Their similarities and differences really help to balance their relationship and it works very well.

I also like when they fight together because it feels very much like they step up to the role of being Asta's older siblings.

I'm also just a huge sucker for physically affectionate m/f friendships.

2. Gauche, Gordon, and Grey

The trio I didn't know I wanted but the one I needed.

So while it's clear that Gordon and Grey are pretty similar to each other, Gauche is a great addition. They're the least social characters in the show and while Gordon and Grey want to make more friends, Gauche wants to push people away. Also, as the story progresses, it's clear that Gauche is starting to care about the Black Bulls, especially Grey and Gordon.

I think the best way to describe it, they remind me of the "they asked for no pickles" meme.

3. Asta and Leopold

As mentioned, Leopold reminds me of friends I made in middle school and Asta reminds me of me. So their relationship feels more personal to me. They clearly love each other and both encourage each other to do better.

4. Asta and Yuno

They both parallel each other in the way that Vanessa and Finral do. Asta represents the journey of hard work while Yuno represents the journey of natural talent. They constantly challenge each other in a way that no one else could do and neither of them would be where they are today without the other.

I sure do parallels.

5. Vanessa and Luck

These two are criminally underrated. Vanessa is definitely the Black Bulls' older sister but her relationship with Luck just hits different. She loves him and he clearly thinks highly of her too (in his own special way).

6. Nero and Lumiere

Lumiere is such a dork rivaled only by Julius and Nero keeps to herself for the most part but she is clearly soft for him and I really like that. In fact, in a flashback, Lumiere annotated a part in a book that said something like "Secre would love this."

7. Vanessa and Magna

Vanessa clearly enjoys poking fun and getting a rise out of Magna. But despite their bickering, they do like each other. You don't have to twist their arm if it came to helping them train.

8. Klaus and Asta

I like their relationship in the anime more than in the manga. Klaus worries and thinks about Asta a lot more in the anime more than magna. He also becomes the mom friend™️ when it comes to Asta.

9. Yami and Jack

These two are just really silly by themselves and together, their chaotic behaviors increases tenfold.

10. Sol and Magna

I'm putting these two last because they're not really friends (and I don't like Sol all that much) but they have potential. During the tournament arc, their bickering reminded me a lot of my siblings and I when we were teenagers-early twenties.

Firstly, here is the drawing done of the reunion in KH3. I thought this scene captured the Wayfinder trio the best, and their raw emotions, especially Terra’s:

Here is the conversation I had with Terra for Day 7. Ideas were still a mix-up when we had this chat, so it sorta goes all over the place but works out in the end. Terra also decides to give some of his own closing statements:

START CONVERSATION

Terra: “Hey, what’s going on? I heard there’s been some trouble with me?”.

Me: “Yeah… This energy has been seemingly messing with you lately and trying to derail me from my Terra-Week work”.

Terra: “Oh! Oh.. Awe. Would you like to tell me more about it?”.

Me: “I don’t think we need to regail the Terra-Week audience with that”.

Terra: “Alright; we’ll save that for another conversation then. But you said you’re stuck right?”.

Me: “I was stuck, and have been for days; but then I jammed all these fines up my subconscious this morning, and I think it finally got the message… Again”.

Me: “It depends on how you answer it. Since I didn’t know what to do about ‘Hero’, I’ve decided to go with last year’s Day 7 prompt which is ‘Self-Reflection’. So I was just wondering if you could pretty much reflect on yourself”.

Terra: “I think I get where you’re coming from, but that’s a bit of a vague ask. Can I have more details?”.

Me: “If you could just simply talk about your Kingdom Hearts life, any of it. Re-tell some stories from your own perspective, or look back on some of your actions and state if you would do them the same or differently this time around”.

Terra: “Ah, alright. Well as you know yourself, I would have done a lot of things differently, especially if you remember what I said for your Day 3 thing. In terms of how I went, not only did I fail my Mark of Mastery exam, but I screwed up everything else after that. I’d rate that experience with a big fat doughnut, only I got my friends back in the end, so I guess it’s not entirely that bad”.

Me: “Connections are important to you, aren’t they?”.

Terra: “Totally. And that’s the reason I made it to the other side. Like I said; amongst all the anger, despair and trickery, Aqua and Ven served as a reminder for hope, and were my reasons to not completely give in”.

Me: “That’s where the Lingering Will came from”.

Terra: “That’s right. The entity that would keep fighting on even when my heart and body could not. And the Lingering Will also wears a cape… You said you didn’t know what to address for a hero?”.

Me: “Well; not all heroes wear capes, Terra. But I get the visual tie-in”.

Terra: “Well I’ll ask you a question then. Do you think I’m a hero?”.

Me: “In some ways I guess you are, being unbiased here of course. You did come in when Ventus was about to be exterminated by Eraqus, so you spared Ventus in that sense. And then in your comeback, as the ‘guardian’, you swooped in and broke the chains that were about to end the lives of Aqua and Ventus, as well as Sora. And then only after Sora proved himself worthy enough to you [KH2.5 Secret Boss], you sacrificed yourself when then Terranort guy wanted to blast Sora. With the ‘rule of three’ in mind, I did manage to list three things, which confirm you’re a hero, sooo… Yeah”.

Terra: “Mmhmm”.

Me: “Wait a minute… You just led me to addressing the prompt I thought I didn’t know how to address”.

Terra: “That’s me doing my job as your dream guide [one of three]. But aren’t you forgetting something big about the word ‘Hero’?”.

Me: “What do you mean?”.

Terra: “”Well, there’s someone in Olympus Coliseum that I met with. We had a match or two, although one was a bit off”.

Me: “Zack”.

Terra: “Yeah. So only if you have enough time left, you could draw me with Zack”.

Me: “It sucks that I still can’t do custom posing though”.

Terra: “It’s alright. All your other drawings have been fantastic so far. Hey; I’ve got one request if you’re okay with it. For the last day, could you please also draw me with Aqua and Ven? I understand that it’s supposed to be ‘Terra-Week’. But it doesn’t feel right not recognising the hearts of those who led me back here”.

Me: “In the case, I’ll prioritise that one over the Zack drawing”.

Terra: “And I’ve also got another idea for Day 4”.

Me: “Okay Terra; but aren’t we doing a bit much discussing our itinerary out in the open?”.

Terra: “It’s the last day. I’m sure the Terra-Week team would be interested to see how you did your work. So I was thinking about that 2022 prompt of New Friends and Hangouts. Your household and reality are basically my new friends. So why don’t you draw yourself and I, and a bunch of those teddies doing something together? I’m sure that’ll be appropriate, and we can add some Kingdom Hearts flare to it to make it more-so. And hey, if you’re wondering what happened to me, I’m making up for when I seemed to be missing earlier in the week”.

Me: “Hey Terra, we’ve hit three pages [in the writing book]. Would you happen to have any final comments for Terra-Week as this will be posted on Day 7?”.

Terra: “Hmm, let’s see. Well… I know Terra-Week is supposed to be all about me, but then there are people that make it happen, like you. So I want those guys to know that I’m giving you a massive shout-out. What I find fun, but also a bit confusing, is that there are other versions of me? So I guess I’d be fascinated to see how other people choose to interact with me; or if they just make pieces about me. Like I wanna see what I’m doing in all their works. I must say that despite some difficult prompts, you’ve been very kind to me, and again, I’m sorry about any trouble I put you through. Like at least in your reality, I’m not too angry; crying all the time; wanting nothing but violence *chuckles*. But like I said, each person has something special to bring to the table; and I know everyone doing this project loves me in their own way… So thank you. And if there’s another Terra-Week next year, I’ll definitely be back. To the ‘mods’ though, could you not give such painful prompts next year that I have to bite my tongue while trying to help Karla?”.

Me: “Sorry Terra; that’s a ‘no-can-do, or more than half your cannon character would be gone lol. But I’d like to make a special admission before we close. To this day, I still sometimes want to wring the life out of Aqua and/or Eraqus for their occasional insensitivity which planted seeds for my dream guide’s ‘ruin’. However, Terra is always begging for me to let it go, and sometimes I perceive an energy where he gets hurt from my rants. That’s how much he cares about everyone and has a really good heart. This person had mountains of integrity, which is why in my reality, I’m trying to show him what he can become with his highest potential and minimal obstacles or doubts”.

Terra: “Mmm. Thanks to you, and the green guys too; the tots that come after me when I’m not feeling good. I’m also blessed to have Riku as a dream guide partner; so he and I get to strengthen our bond, and no matter what happens to the others, Riku and I have been guaranteed to experience this new reality together. Oh! And I can’t leave without quickly mentioning Karla’s mom. Once she found out about me… I’m the only dream guide in the house that’s loved by more than just one person, which makes it a house I never want to leave. Her mom’s said heaps of times that she feels bad for me. Alright, I think that’ll do it for Terra-Week this year. As the star, I’ve gotta be the one to finish it”.

Called LEGS, short for Lunar Exploration Ground Sites, the antennas represent critical infrastructure for NASA’s vision of supporting a sustained human presence at the Moon.

The first three of six proposed LEGS are planned for sites in New Mexico, South Africa, and Australia.

LEGS will become part of NASA’s Near Space Network, managed by the agency’s Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) program and led out of Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

NASA’s LEGS can do more than help Earthlings move about the planet.

Three Lunar Exploration Ground Sites, or LEGS, will enhance the Near Space Network’s communications services and support of NASA’s Artemis campaign.

NASA’s Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) program maintains the agency’s two primary communications networks — the Deep Space Network and the Near Space Network, which enable satellites in space to send data back to Earth for investigation and discovery.

Using antennas around the globe, these networks capture signals from satellites, collecting data and enabling navigation engineers to track the mission. For the first Artemis mission, these networks worked in tandem to support the mission as it completed its 25-day journey around the Moon. They will do the same for the upcoming Artemis II mission.

To support NASA’s Moon to Mars initiative, NASA is adding three new LEGS antennas to the Near Space Network. As NASA works toward sustaining a human presence on the Moon, communications and navigation support will be crucial to each mission’s success. The LEGS antennas will directly support the later Artemis missions, and accompanying missions like the human landing system, lunar terrain vehicle, and Gateway.

“One of the main goals of LEGS is to offload the Deep Space Network,” said TJ Crooks, LEGS project manager at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. “The Near Space Network and its new LEGS antennas will focus on lunar missions while allowing the Deep Space Network to support missions farther out into the solar system — like the James Webb Space Telescope and the interstellar Voyager missions.”

The Near Space Network provides communications and navigation services to missions anywhere from near Earth to 1.2 million miles away — this includes the Moon and Sun-Earth Lagrange points 1 and 2. The Moon and Lagrange points are a shared region with the Deep Space Network, which can provide services to missions there and farther out in the solar system.

The LEGS antennas, which are 66 feet in diameter, will be strategically placed across the globe. This global placement ensures that when the Moon is setting at one station, it is rising into another’s view. With the Moon constantly in sight, the Near Space Network will be able to provide continuous support for lunar operations.

As a satellite orbits the Moon, it encodes its data onto a radio frequency signal. When a LEGS antenna comes into view, that satellite (or rover, etc.) will downlink the signal to a LEGS antenna. This data is then routed to mission operators and scientists around the globe who can make decisions about spacecraft health and orbit or use the science data to make discoveries.

The LEGS antennas are intended to be extremely flexible for users. For LEGS-1, LEGS-2, and LEGS-3, NASA is implementing a “dual-band approach” for the antennas that will allow missions to communicate using two different radio frequency bands — X-band and Ka-band. Typically, smaller data packets — like telemetry data — are sent over X-band, while high-resolution science data or imagery needs Ka-band. Due to its higher frequency, Ka-band allows significantly more information to be downlinked at once, such as real-time high-resolution video in support of crewed operations.

Further LEGS capacity will be sought from commercial service providers and will include a “tri-band approach” for the antennas using S-band in addition to X- and Ka-band.

The first LEGS ground station, or LEGS-1, is at NASA’s White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, New Mexico. NASA is improving land and facilities at the complex to receive the new LEGS-1 antenna.

The LEGS-2 antenna will be in Matjiesfontein, South Africa, located near Cape Town. In partnership with SANSA, the South African National Space Agency, NASA chose this location to maximize coverage to the Moon. South Africa was home to a ground tracking station outside Johannesburg that played a role in NASA’s Apollo missions to the Moon in the 1960s. The agency plans to complete the LEGS-2 antenna in 2026. I think this spread is supposed to be for people asking about staying or leaving their relationships, but I'm gonna interpret it as "should Charlie stay in his role assigned to him by the group or do his own thing?"

The wildcard role is represented by The Tower card, and Charlie is the definition of sudden upheaval and destruction this episode. Despite being on board with the plan and having no nefarious motives, he foils every stage of the already flimsy scheme. He doesn't help intimidate the gas station attendant, he assures the bank teller will never get into any of their pants by stepping on Dennis's role as the "looks," scared the rich old lady when selling door to door, and in a final act of chaos, cut the van's breaks and jumped out. He lived up to the wildcard role by being completely unpredictable even by the gang's standards.

Staying within the role system, or rather properly fulfilling his role in the gang's eyes specifically (because by all standards he really did fulfill the wildcard role), would have maybe appeased Mac and Dennis, and perhaps even advance the plan (granting him the success and public reward indicated by the 6 of Wands) but his only involvement would be appearing as a menacing presence, essentially from Charlie's point of view, "doing" nothing. A rest, but not a wanted one.

Leaving, on the other hand, gives a sense of clear-mindedness (if only in a "brain empty" way) that favors rapid action and decision making and is conducive to creating chaos. It makes sense to Charlie, historically the most confused member of the trio ("he's listening he's not understanding"), because haphazardly following your intuition requires no forethought, and there's no need to grasp the bigger picture of someone else's plan when you're working for yourself. At the end of the day, Charlie goes with the option that gives him the most freedom, satisfies his curiosity, and is ultimately something he knows how to do well: his chaos climaxing as he jumps out of a moving van that ends up hurting everyone else.

That's a lot of what the Swords are about (which appeared 3 times), including the harming others part. He is noticeably missing from the "Bruce Mathis" identity reveal at the end. Was leaving best for him? Depends on how hurt he got jumping out, but he clearly had a lot more fun following his bizarre intuition. The two Wand cards and the Tower (which is associated with Mars, another fire card) point to the aspects of desire and passion as the main driving forces of his decision making, as opposed to the (relative) logic behind the gang's plan that's lost on Charlie.

SO MUCH TO UNPACK.

1.) Cyrus was masterfully thought-out, so it's quite appalling that in the actual D/P games little of this is present. He barely has any screentime, the one backstory mention from an NPC is highly missable, and at the end he comes off as a megalomaniac who just wants power rather than doing what he's doing for some higher purpose in his mind. WTF happened?

2.) Him "naming" Team Galactic is obviously retconned now thanks to Legends: Arceus. I guess the new story is that their connection to Team Galactic is why his parents were wealthy, and its name probably inspired his space fixation rather than the other way around.

3.) So Mars is 22, Jupiter is 24, Saturn is 25 and Cyrus is 27. Interesting.

4.) Many differences in the beta plot from the finished product show up: the whole thing with the Lake Trio and their Lakes is totally different, the Lake Trio cause the distortion of time/space rather than Cyrus using the Red Chain at the Spear Pillar, and above all the climax locations are swapped around: whereas in the finished game it's Galactic HQ then Mt. Coronet, here it's Mt. Coronet then Galactic HQ. And originally in place of the Red Chain, Cyrus' means of fusing with Dialga/Palkia was going to be through a machine...a concept that was later blatantly repurposed with Xerneas/Yveltal and the Ultimate Weapon in X/Y.

5.) Lastly, I wrote here that "I believe some of the writers did want Cyrus to be a Complete Monster: to be a villain who attempted something that had higher stakes than anything that had come before, who didn’t care about his underlings and just manipulated them as pawns, and who refused to change his ways after being defeated unlike any of the previous ones. However, other writers disagreed, and wanted Cyrus to instead be a complex, tragic figure." Turns out that I had it backward in my phrasing: Masuda and whoever else worked with him to create Cyrus wanted him to be a complex, tragic figure - this document clearly proves this. However, other writers likely balked at how extreme he is written up to be here (attempting something high stakes, manipulating people whom he only sees as pawns, and refusing to change his ways after his defeat) and wanted him depicted as more evil. And looping back to point 1, Masuda for some reason or other allowed that depiction to pass in the initial games.

The giga Game Freak leak has definitely made me feel something, but somehow out of everything the last thing I was expecting was to get blasted with Cyrus lore.

Not only do we find out about his family (wealthier family where he possibly has younger siblings, given he's stated as the oldest), where we find out he's autistic (unsurprisingly), but then we get a full page of Cyrus lore, of his past, of how he became who he is, and how his emotions seem to be masked by a lack of the very thing.

I genuinely was more expecting to see more Giovanni lore, or even Ghetsis lore. Somehow I didn't expect Cyrus of all the villains to have an entire page of lore for his story in the games.

I'll include the image below, if the text is choppy I'd suggest saving it to your phone, or whatever device you're using, and it should be clear, though I'm pretty sure like 5 other people have shared it. But, read if you'd like to, though I apologize if my own mutterings above are a little inaccurate to the lore.

Just watched the first 3 episodes of season 4, let’s do this

Mars. Look, it was cool to have the first episode completely focused on it, but all three, with nothing but some end cards to fill us in with what’s going on over on Earth. The large cast is what made the show, and while it’s nice to learn more about Mars, I want to check in on some other characters as well.

Racism. Not really understanding racism on Mars, it feels poorly put together. There are 4 races, and you can’t just change your appearance to look like a different race (except for the yellow ones, who do change their appearance to look like a different race) because you can tell the difference between the races psychically, but the only difference between the races is their skin, which they can change?

Simple fix to this I suppose would be that the skin pigmentation gene is connected to a telepathic gene that makes the connection different in a way that the Martian's can notice, but this isn’t the established and I doubt it will be.

Garfield. Well that problem was establish and solved rather quickly.

J’onn Jonzz. I really thought they killed him off. I guess they couldn’t because it’s so close to the wedding, but it would’ve be interesting.

I feel like I’m being a bit harsh on these episode, but they, while intriguing, just felt meh for Young Justice

One positive note

Time Travel Trio. I want to know more. Maybe they’ll bond with Bart, both being from the future and all, but they’re probably not from the same future as Bart, so they might not have much to bond over

Spirit Box Radio is an indie horror audio drama which follows Sam Enfield, the unlikely host of Spirit Box Radio, a show for witches, arcanists, and the magically-inclined. Sam took over the show after the mysterious disappearance of his mother, the Illustrious Madame Marie, a renowned psychic. With no penchant for the Arcane Arts, Sam struggles to find his feet, and as he does, he discovers that Spirit Box Radio may be haunted by something much worse than ghosts: secrets.

Season One followed the mystery of Madame Marie's disappearance and uncovered Sam Enfield's true place in the conspiracy surrounding it. In Season Two, Sam, his sisters - sardonic Kitty and cynical Anna - and his snarky immortal boyfriend will try to unearth the mystery of the Man Who Walks Here and There (AKA The Man in the Flat Cap and Shell Suit, or The King of the Blood Rose Crown) whose many titles are found under almost every stone they turn. It's a story steeped in mystery, horror, trauma and grief, with plenty of softness on the side.

The show is made primarily by its creator, Pippin Eira Major, who wrote, directed and edited every episode in Season One.

Spirit Box Radio wouldn't be possible without the incredible cast of the show. Now 15 Voice Actors strong, the cast of Spirit Box Radio brings to life an array of characters, including; a shady but eloquent florist who cant be trusted; an Ominous Phone Guy; a trio of Inconvenient and malevolent entities; and numerous others.

Just like the characters in the show, our cast is mostly LGBTQ+ and many of us are young and trying to break into the industry. Here's who we are:

If this crowdfunder is successful, we're also hoping to add five more fantastic VAs to our cast!

Being such a tiny studio, Hanging Sloths can't afford to compensate our cast for their amazing work and provided the amazing performaces you hear in Season One on a voluntary basis. They've all agreed to come back for Season Two on a Profit Share model, where they'll all get a percentage of the money made on this crowdfunder. Here's a handy graphic breaking that down:

Our main priority is to make sure the cast are making something for their hard work on the show. Up to our main goal amount, we'll be splitting the money like this:

- 50% towards the actors' profit share (which exludes me, Pippin)

- 25% towards guest writers and directors

- 25% towards other essential costs including hosting the show on Acast.

Our initial goal amount (£2500) has been worked out to make sure everyone (besides Pippin) who is providing acting, directing or writing for the show can be paid an industry standard amount.

If we don't make our full goal, whatever we DO make will be divided up according to the percentages you see above!

Anything made above that will go towards compensating Pippin for his work on the show, too.

A brief personal statement from Pippin on why the payment is being structured this way:

honestly I can pretty strongly recommend dart frogs, with a couple caveats. Depending on the species (and the individual frog) they can be quite active and fun to watch, and they’re also just really pretty.

The caveats:

Do your research. This is a basic “I love dart frogs” overview, not a care guide

CAPTIVE BRED. One, the wild populations are nearly all heavily endangered, two, wild dart frogs are very poisonous (they get their poison from their food so captive-bred are completely nontoxic). They breed readily in captivity though, so they’re usually pretty accessible!

They require bioactive terrariums with plants, leaf litter, and wood for climbing. They don’t have to be fancy plants though! Dart frogs will be perfectly happy with hardy greenery like spider plants and pothos, which I’m pretty sure would grow happily on the surface of mars if you watered occasionally (the frogs would not be happy on the surface of mars it is too cold and dry)

They have strict temperature/humidity requirements. It depends on the species a bit, but on the whole they can’t tolerate temps outside of a 17-25c range or humidity below 70% at the *absolute* driest, with ideal conditions being 18-23c and 90+% humidity. If you live somewhere temperate and humid (I’m in the pnw) this is easy to maintain! If you live somewhere dry, hot, or cold, it will take more work.

They are not for handling. If they’re captive bred they’re not dangerous to you, but they’re very small, delicate, and sensitive to chemicals: catch them in a cup, only when absolutely necessary.

Dechlorinated water only. Depending on local water quality tap is probably fine as long as you treat it first

…That sounds like a lot, but once you get their homes set up and stable with good environmental conditions their maintenance is extremely simple, it’s just, spray lightly once a day or so (or use an automatic mister), drop in some fruit flies ~3 times a week, go in with a brush/cloth once a month or so to clean the glass and spot-clean the substrate. Fruit flies can be tricky but they can also take teeny crickets and a couple other micro feeders so you have options.

They don’t need heat, they don’t need a water feature, they don’t need special lighting, they can be kept in same-species groups, and they’re really small, so you can give them a nice roomy enclosure without taking up that much shelf space: depending on species, a pair or trio will generally do really well in a 18x18x24 terrarium, with the smallest species even being happy in a 12x12x18.

Frog tax: this is my buddy Mint, he’s a Ranitomeya vanzolinii. He’s super brave and active, I’ve got at least one vid on here of him doing a full-on circus routine around his tank and he actually comes out of hiding when I come by to see if I have treats for him! He’s too small to easily hand-feed but he’ll take big springtails off the edge of a spoon it’s really cute.

I know amphibian are not your specialty but what amphibian would you recommend as a pet?

I'm really sorry, but this is outside my wheelhouse! I've never kept amphibians as pets, never plan to, and couldn't even begin to recommend any. Just not my thing.

I'm almost sick

So I'm not usually an Amphibia blogger. I follow the show from a distance; I got into She-Ra about a month after the finale, a bunch of the people I followed for that got into the Owl House, I caught up with that right as Season 1 finished, and then I started seeing Amphibia stuff on my dash. I followed some Amphibia people, because the one's I saw on my dash are some of the funniest/chillest people I've seen on tumblr. And a bunch of YouTube Reaction channels I followed for Owl House stuff also did Amphbia. But I didn't really watch it myself, just learn through osmosis.

But I wanted to see True Colors before I got too many spoilers… so I watched it.

I wasn't ready.

I didn't know what to expect, and there were some definite twists and I was left with a tight feeling in my chest when I finished half-an-hour ago that hasn't gone away. I get emotional watching shows, but I've never felt sick like this. Matt Braly has created a wonderful shows that can tug on heartstrings in ways I didn't know they could be pulled. Now, I say twists, but… this is the old-school kind of twist, the GOOD kind--not the half-assed completely-out-of-left-field shit modern spoiler culture is designed to obfuscate. In fact, I can recall just about every twist being called MONTHS ago. But how Matt wove those into the story kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

And we have the season 3 new opening to give us some hints of whats to come:

Anne and the Plantars are back in the human world; the Boonchuys seem like they've welcomed the Plantars in. Also, Mr. Boonchuy confirmed.

Marcy's in some sort of Bacta-tank looking device; is Andrias healing her because, or is she to become a vessel for Andrias' mysterious master? Poor Mar-mar.

What happens to Sasha and Grime; despite going to far and having Anne official end their friendship, Sasha proved herself to actually still care and Anne instinctively trusted her again in the fight. Are they simply tossed in a dungeon, do they manage to escape?

We see… a LOT of military helicopters in certain scenes of the opening. Are they preparing for the invasion (which would mean believing a teenager, even if she has talking frog people with her), are those scenes from AFTER the invasion begins, or are they hunting Anne and the Plantars?

Super Saiyanne is awesome, though in typical power-up mode style she can't hold it for long and it leaves her vulnerable. How quickly will she improve? I wonder if the other parts of the trio will be able to reclaim some of their gem power, or if it will remain uniquely Anne's thing (in other words, how Main Protagonist versus Ensemble will the Gem Trio be?).

Looks like when Season 3 roles around, I'm going to be getting up early to watch some cartoons.

SUDDEN BONUS:

I was at my grandma’s house today and I ran into these chrysanthemums. The flowers were more of a burnt orange colour IRL, but some of them were this deep red too.

I kid you not; these flowers immediately caught my eye and energetically screamed Terra (I channel and pay attention a lot to ‘energies’ these days).

Not only do the flowers have an oriental colour scheme to them, but I found out that they’re native to China and JAPAN. To me, when I looked at the flowers, the colours screamed passion and desire (for his friends and to ‘set things right’, as well as strength and perseverance). And pretty much the colour of fire that burns within the heart. Now to some synchronicities.

I happened to catch these on Day 3 of Terra Week.

When I opened the phone to take the photos, the lock-screen clock said 3:33.

: 3+3+3 = 9, the divine and most powerful number of the universe (Nikola Tesla’s number and frequency theories); going back to power and passion.

24/3 or 3/24 (today’s date). 2+4+3 also = 9.

333 is the angel number for ‘Optimism’, ‘Creativity’ and ‘Intuition’; the latter two are signs for me, but the first one may be a signal or encouragement for Terra?.

3 also represents ‘Trinity’. We can look at this this way: Terra came back in KH3, and he was reunited to be a trio again; him, Aqua and Ventus.

Terra was the 3rd out of the trio to be brought back.

Out of the current group of 3, Terra is the 3rd and final dream guide to awaken his unobstructed mentorship and full authority over me. This change flourished this month (M3).

Are you sick of the number 3 by now? 😂

Lastly, I don’t normally have my phone when out with mum, but I brought my phone this time… Was I being universally guided to this moment and post?

THE CONVERSATION

What has already been set up for Day 3 is a conversation with Terra re. the prompt of ‘Deception’.

Please excuse us for 2 reasons: 1. First task and tough prompt means Terra went into emotional shock. 2. I had a heavy subconscious blockage during production.

But without further ado, please enjoy TW23’s first insight from Terra!:

- START CONVERSATION -

Me: “You recall that I said after I got my drink, you’d have to start talking”.

Terra: “I know… After spending almost three years in your world, completely carefree, and having the time of my life… Just as I’ve forgotten all the horrible things about my past. And now I’m being subjected to going into total PTSD mode. Who’s asking for this stuff?

Me: “The Terra-Week community. I mean what the heck Terra? You said you were going to help me, and you were even excited about it, being the whole event. You even said not to put too much pressure on myself and to approach you and utilise you as much as I needed to”.

Terra: “I know… I just didn’t think it was going to be this difficult. Like can’t I just share all the fun stuff I’ve been doing lately and the good things I’ve learned? Aqua and Ven have been a part of this too”.

Me: “It may not suit the wider audience as it’s not a part of everyone’s, the central, collective timeline. You have to be just a bit more structured for this, which I’m guessing you would have remembered from 2022? Think about it this way; you have to give them a history lesson with a bit of philosophy involved.

Terra: “Oh, alright. You’ve been very patient with me… I guess I owe you. So what it is that you want to know regarding the prompt of Deception? You wrote down a few questions before speaking to me?”.

Me: “I wrote down two main parts, but who knows how many sub-categories or additions will come out of that”.

Terra: “Okay. So what’s your first question?”.

Me: “I guess ever since you heard you failed your Mark of Mastery exam, did you ever suspect that Xehanort had this entire plan, centred around you, to mould you into a suitable vessel for his darkness?”.

Terra: “Well, no; because if I did, I would have done something about it a lot sooner and stopped him. I wouldn’t be under someone else’s control while terrorizing a little girl [Kairi] in the meantime. And Ven’s heart wouldn’t have to sleep, nor Aqua be trapped in the realm of darkness for ten years trying to save my behind. There’s a good reason I didn’t wanna come back to this… Because I’ve always believed that I’m responsible for the things that happened. Do you remember that line I spoke in the keyblade graveyard?”.

Me: “I was stupid and helped Xehanort do it?”.

Terra: “Yeah… That one. Sorry, I’m getting a bit emotional. Go brush your teeth and hopefully I’ll have myself sorted by the time you get back”.

— 10 Minutes later —

Me: “I’m back”.

Terra: “Hey. I’ve got Ven here and he reminded me that everything’s alright, and that all my friends are back”.

Me: “Are you going to be okay to answer the rest of the questions?”.

Terra: “Yeah, I’ll be alright. I don’t wanna ruin that week and create more work for you. Ven’s gonna sit in with us”.

Me: “We left off with the keyblade quote; I mean the location of it”.

Terra: “Right. So as I was saying; the reason for that quote. If I was saying I was stupid, that means I was tricked. I just went along with anything, without looking into it too much and questioning people’s motives. Any questions I did have, they’d just give me a convincing answer and I thought that was it”.

Me: “Do you think that anyone else besides Xehanort was using you, or I guess throwing you under the bus?”.

Terra: “Nah. Not outside some of the Disney villains maybe. Ever since you revealed it to me, I still find it hard to believe that Master Eraqus was sucked in by a letter from a childhood friend. But then I guess I’ve been told the sad truth. That means that Master Eraqus was deceived too. Like me, he wanted to see the good in people and give them a second chance”.

Me: “But then how many chances do you give someone before enough is enough?”.

Terra: “That’s a hard question, especially if you don’t know what a person is really like. Like is it selfish to not give someone enough chances? That’s where I was coming from. I can see you’re getting sleepy, so I’ll sum up some ideas for you and try to finish it. Xehanort obviously knew what he was doing from start to finish. With Master Eraqus allowing him to remain in the room during our exam, how come I didn’t rule out that it was Xehanort who caused the balls to go dark and radiate me? How come they didn’t radiate Aqua or Ven when they also hit them? And then the plot to isolate me and have me journey without my friends. People are easier to manipulate when they’re by themselves and there isn’t, I guess, a Jiminy to the Pinocchio. But the thing I never suspected was that the stage had been set for me to kill my own master, with Ven being the subject. Like if I care for my friends so much, would I do anything it took to save them, even if it meant taking someone else’s life? Or at least contributing to that. It had to go that far for me to finally see what Xehanort was all about. And then you’d think it’d be safer for me if I didn’t go to the Keyblade Graveyard, and I just tried to restore things from my broken homeland. But because I was tricked, I became very angry, and I wanted revenge. The guy who I thought was all for me, took everything away from me. So, that’s what I’ve got for your Deception prompt”.

Me: “Thanks Terra”.

Date: Apr 12th, 2021 Time: ~ 5:31 h It is not always easy to give sense to Demizu's perspective, but I do my best!!! In this I am *so* happy with how Don and Ray turned out, they look neat! The background on the other hand... It took hours to make ahah. I'm not fully confident in the perspective, but I'm happy with the details I've added- I really did my best to make it look like athe other manga panels and I think it paid off!!!

I don't really like the fading effect on the right, but 8h in I got pretty tired of working on this ahah

It can be a little frustrating, but it's so satisfying to see the final cleaned piece!! With this panel, I also learnt to use copy and paste, which is something I had never done before beyond texture

Date: Jun 14th 2020 Time: ~ 12h 41min (5h 45min of cleaning panels in the edit + 5h 37min of cleaning panels that didn't make it to the edit + 1h 19min of resizing) + time spent cleaning panels I've deleted the file of so I can't see lmao This is overall very nice!!! The concept of an Emma evolution through her back is cool, and I think overall the edit turned out very aesthetically pleasing. The concept idea came to me while I was working on the 2019 Emma's birthday edit, a long time before the manga ending announcement- back then I wouldn't have imagined using it in occasion of the manga ending, but I think it ended up making a nice tribute. The colors add a nice touch, since so far my edits had always been black and white- it makes a sweet closure. To make that edit I selected 76 panels of Emma framed from her back; I plan to make other versions of that edit using the discarded panels eventually!

#2: Emma - Chapter 181: Beyond Destiny

Date: Jul 12th 2020 Time: 2h 57min My last edit for the manga 🥺🥺 I think this one is my very "manga ending edit" because to me it really signed the ending of weekly chapters and their weekly chapter edits. It makes me a little sad to look at it, but it's also, I don't know, kinda sweet to see how I grew both in my panel cleaning and as a person since I first started my blog. I'm glad I got into TPN!

#3: Emma birthday edit 2020

Date: Aug 22nd 2020 Time: 8h 54min This one turned out so well!!! Though I used the same concept for all the trio edits, I think this one is the best one. The two panels on the left / two panels on the right alternation combo never fails ahah. The colors are nice (shout-out to my sister for making me a palette), despite the fact that it was hard for the lighter ones to make them work with the images without having those disappear. I'm very satisfied with the panels I chose for this, I think they work really good together! Also, it got me very happy to read everyone's comments saying they liked the fading effect in the last panel :)

Started the edit in September, finished it in December. I'm overall very happy with how it turned out... I hope I will be able to make more in the future!
