Yeah I'm starting my Bestiaryposting design work really late; what can I say, time is fake and the world is filled with distractions. Here I'll just put whatever comes to mind, and then later hopefully find a way to put it all together.
carnivore (or at least ingests blood)
greyhound build??
strong jaws
can't turn neck around
"lives on its prey", parasite?
sometimes terrestrial, sometimes carried by the wind ((decided this was the wrong interpretation of the phrase))
hunts far away from its vulnerable young
has paws
tapetum luci-whatsit
wins if it sees a human first; loses if a human sees it first -> ambush predator
it can't literally be a wildcat (even if that's what this is intended to describe) because some of these features don't make sense with actual wildcats
magical patch of hair on the tail
don't eat for a while, and then eat a whole lot at once
manes in so many different colours (between individuals, or in a single individual?)
jumps like Superman; doesn't actually have wings
I'm like 95% sure this is describing some large cat, but it goes against the spirit of the event to just draw the animal I think it might be. There's only one bit here that doesn't make sense to me, like I'm genuinely not sure what it was trying to get across: "It is said to live sometimes on its prey, sometimes on earth and sometimes, even, on the wind." ...unless "live on" doesn't mean "physically reside upon", but rather "be nourished by", in which case things make more sense, but also I'm just left with like, a mythologized lion or leopard or tiger or whatever.
I don't want to draw a normal-ass large cat for something that's prolly a cat, I want to draw something WEIRD. Also because the description given for the creature would feel RIGHT at home in an old D&D 2E sourcebook, if they replaced "Solinus" for a more fantasy-sounding name.
Think I'll stick with a "wildcat as filtered through my vague memory" build though, to reduce the cognitive load. "Mane" can be like a lion's mane, but also like a horse's or donkey's, so that can make it weirder; and even if I stick with just viable fur colours, having a bunch all together will still look weird. Or it could be... I was going to say "tentacles", then I realized I'd end up unintentionally recreating the akata from Pathfinder/Starfinder, and I don't want to do that. "Fibre-optic cables" would be hilarious, but I don't know how I'd pull that off, and not sure if I want to try, depends on what all ideas I get.
"Can't turn head" makes possible sense as something with really highly developed jaw musculature, where everything's going towards force instead of flexibility. It said that strength was "least of all in its loins", but how to mesh that with something that can "tall buildings in a single bound" kind of jump... very springy legs I guess? The creature looks oddly unbalanced, in my head (because I haven't doodled anything yet), I need to consider what kind of features can "balance" it so it seems plausible, yet still deeply odd. Like, platypize it.
The bit about how it lives "sometimes on earth, sometimes on wind", going by the interpretation of "nourished by", that could be that it's an opportunistic insectivore, digging for grubs or snapping up flies. The "mane" could be something like a frill, to help tunnel bugs to its mouth; I don't know if that makes actual biological sense, but it's the "iunno, seems plausible enough" that you get in bestiary entries so I might go with that, if I can find a way to depict it that I like.
So, next stage is "staring blankly off into space while I consider things"; it's going to happen anyways, might as well make it an official part of the process. I might end up including some bat-like features, as there were bits in the description an made me think of bats, even if it was due to a misreading.

Zealot/Lady Zannah of Khera reading guide
Lady Zannah is a high-ranking member of the CODA Sisterhood, a women-only group of warriors and a very influential party in the Kheran government.
After being stranded on Earth, Zealot created her version of the CODA, training women on the kherubim ways of war and fighting. After thousands of years of having a hand in many Historical events, Zealot (and Grifter) stepped out of the shadows and joined the WildC.A.T.S, a superhero team financed by the HALO Corporation and composed of descendants of the other kherubim living on Earth, to help fight in the war against the Deamonites.

Druids in the London Sourcebook for Shadowrun (1st Edition)
Ok, I joked about it in the previous post, but there really is a Grand Druid.
Look at these fraggin’ LARPers.
Hamish Campbell, Earl of Dundee, is the current Grand Druid of Britain. Despite being Scottish, he is the highest of the English Druids – who are hermetic magicians. They form the core of the New Druidic Movement (NDM), which is part of the currently politically dominant Green Party (hold 70% of seats in Parliament). English Druids use the same rules as other hermetic Mages, just with snazzier robes.
THIS ROBE IS SO COMFORTABLE!
The other group of Druids are of the Shamanic tradition and are associated with the various Celtic traditions (Welsh, Cornish, Scottish, and Irish Tír). Being not really related to the type of shamanic practice the core magic rules are based around (indigenous American), there is a different list of totems that Celtic Druids follow:
Eagle (mainly Scottish)
Wolf (Scottish only)
Bear
Wildcat (new)
Owl (from The Grimoire)
Wyrm (new; Welsh only)
Of these two new totems, and in fact amongst all of these, Wildcat is the best for shadowrunning Druids: +2 dice for Combat and Health spells, +2 dice for summoning nature spirits when it’s dark out. Their disadvantage: they will fight to death to protect their home stone circle (equivalent of an American shaman’s medicine lodge) and have one fewer die to resist illusions.
What, you don’t have a home stone circle?
Hmm… what else is in this section on druids?
Oooo, nice try to fend off the PMRC and BADD (Bothered About Dungeons & Dragons). They will later print rules for blood magic in the Aztlan sourcebook and, OH YEAH, the game of Earthdawn.
Finally, those of a certain age will remember how difficult it would be to become a Bard in 1st Edition AD&D? How they had to under go druidic studies? Well…
The adventuring party is nearly complete.

Hello, Lovelies! Have yourself a Smokin' Hot Cowboy Christmas - Smokin' Hot Cowboy Christmas (Smokin’ Hot Cowboys #7) by Kim Redford https://bit.ly/2S6YHkf It's been one fiasco after another for newcomer Belle Tarleton since she began trying to turn her ranch into an arts center. Local workers seem determined to ruin her Christmas party plans, and she hopes bringing in down-on-his-luck Rowdy Holloway to help with renovations will get things back on track. Rowdy is the unluckiest cowboy in the whole of Wildcat Bluff County, Texas, and things are not improving this holiday season. Sure, he's the object of many local women's drool-worthy fantasies, but the town has decided he's the man who should stop Belle's renovation plans. It started as a simple mission, but now Rowdy's so twisted up he doesn't know whose side he's on. With only days until Christmas, Rowdy and Belle need to tap into their fiery personalities and off-the-charts chemistry if they're ever going to find a way to thaw the ice on this reluctant town's heart. #Christmas #christmasromance #holiday #cowboyromance #cowboy #kimredford @Sourcebooks @Sourcebookscasa #Sourcebooks

COWBOY FIRE by Kim Redford: Excerpt & Spotlight
NOW AVAILABLE / SOURCEBOOKS CASABLANCA
This cowboy is more than just a perfect face…
Violet Ashwood arrives in Wildcat Bluff County with one agenda: convince the hunky Mr. July from the Wildcat Bluff Fire Rescue’s annual benefit calendar to be the face—and body—of her new lonely hearts online dating service. She didn’t count on his firm refusal, nor did she count on seeing him again. Until she discovers he’s her new landlord.
Kemp Lander, aka Mr. July, wants nothing to do with Violet’s schemes to make him a model for her Cowboy Chat Corral, particularly once he finds out she fudged the truth on her rental contract by claiming she was a cowgirl. He’s got enough problems trying to keep trespassers off his ranch and doesn’t need the distraction of his sexy renter.
All Violet and Kemp want is to save their livelihoods and have their lifelong dreams realized. But it’ll take joining forces and discovering they’re better together to finally meet their goals.

“I need to get Heart-to-Heart Corral up and running.” Violet Ashwood glanced at Kemp Lander where he sat across from her at the dining table.
He sighed and leaned back in his chair. You haven’t given up on me representing your lonely hearts club, have you?”
“No. Your photo in the Wet & Wild Cowboy Firefighters calendar drew me here. That hasn’t changed one bit since I got here. ”
He nodded, then pulled the plate with his piece of pie close to him and dug in with a fork.
She followed his action, but she didn’t feel hungry now.
He ate a couple of bites before he set down his fork. He looked out the windows, then back at her. “Maybe we can compromise.”
“What do you mean?” She felt her taste come back with the advent of sudden hope.
“You’ve invested a lot of time and effort in something you’re obviously passionate about.”
“I am. Everyone deserves true love.”
He raised an eyebrow. “What about you?”
“Me?”
“True love.”
“I’m looking for others…not myself,” she said.
“Why not?”
“It’s just that I’ve never been lucky in love.”
“I can’t imagine why not.”
“Let’s let it go at that.” She forked a bite of pie into her mouth, but she’d lost her taste for it again.
“I don’t see how you can promote something you don’t believe in.”
“I do believe in it.”
“Prove it.” He leaned toward her with a challenging gleam in his green eyes.
“Prove it?” She didn’t trust that gleam. “How?”
“Kiss me.”
She took a deep breath, wanting that very thing and not wanting it at the same time. Mr. July was getting more dangerous to her heart every moment she was in his company.
“You’re not willing to put yourself on the line?”
“I didn’t think you were interested in—”
“I’m not interested in posing for your website, but I am interested in you.”
“Oh.” She felt her face flush at his words as heat rushed through her entire body.
“I thought you might be interested in an experiment, seeing as how you’ve come all this way from San Antonio.”
“Experiment?”
He tossed his napkin on the table, stood up, and held out his hand to her. “Let’s go out on the patio and discuss our options.”
She gestured toward the dirty plates and table full of dishes. “Shouldn’t we clean up?”
“It can wait. I can’t.”
She grasped his hand, palm to palm, as she stood up. She could feel the roughness of his skin, see the stubble of his beard, and smell the soap he’d used in his shower. It was all heady stuff.
He led her into the sunroom, turned on a lamp for soft illumination, and opened the back door so that pale light spilled outside. The scent of roses in bloom filled the night air and moonlight cast a silvery glow over the patio.
“Why don’t you sit on the glider while I go back and get our wine?”
“Okay.” She really couldn’t say more as she watched him go inside because she felt as if her heart were in her throat.
When he returned, he handed her a glass, clinked hers with his, and nodded as if he’d made a decision.
She took a sip and returned his smile. She felt good, happy, contented. It was a mild, sweetscented spring night with a handsome man by her side. If she could convey
this setting, this feeling, to her lonely hearts club, she felt sure people would positively respond in droves.
He leaned toward her. “Now, about your lonely hearts club…”
She leaned toward him. “Yes?”
“Do you really need me?”
“I want you.” She immediately wished she’d chosen different words.
“I want you, too.” He set down his glass. “What are we going to do about it?”
“I meant—”
“I know what you meant, but can’t you mean something more, something personal, something just between us?”
She felt her heart pick up speed. She caught his gaze…and felt as if she’d always belonged here in this moment with this man.
“Something special?” he asked.
She had to respond, but she couldn’t find the words. If he looked at her with any more heat in his eyes, she might spontaneously combust. “I…” And then she threw caution to the wind, leaned forward, and kissed him. It was just a soft, fleeting, tender touch before she moved back.
“I hope that was only an appetizer.” He clasped her shoulders with both hands and gently tugged her toward him.
She leaned into him, feeling his heat, his strength, his power. She wanted it all. She didn’t want to compromise. She raised her face, waiting for his kiss…waiting…waiting…
“I want you to know I don’t do this lightly. I know you really only want me for your lonely hearts club. I know you’ll go back to San Antonio when you get what you want here. I know all that, and I still want to kiss you. I need to kiss you. I plan to kiss you. It’s just that I’m a serious kind of guy.”
“Kemp, I swear if you say one more word, I’m taking the pie and going home.”
He grinned, chuckling. “You’d take the pie? That’s serious.”
“Yes, it is. And I’m serious, too.” She put her palms on each side of his face. “Please, just kiss me.”
And he did…tender at first, then with growing passion until he lifted her up, set her on his lap, leaned her head back against his arm, and held her tightly.
She felt his heat and strength and desire build as one kiss followed another and he delved deeply into her mouth, hugged her closer and closer as if desperate to meld their bodies so they could never be separate again.
Finally, he raised his head, kissed the tip of her nose, gave her a slight smile. “And I thought that fire I just fought was hot.”

Excerpt
Althea giggled. “You sound just like your mother.”
“Yeah, well, there are worse things,” Larry said, laughing along with her. “I happen to like my mom.”
“So do I.” A note of sadness slipped into her voice. “I miss her—and all you guys. Seems like everything changes as we get older.”
“I guess so.” His smoldering gaze met hers and held it as every trace of mirth vanished from his face. “I figured we’d all grow up eventually, but I never thought you’d run off and leave us like that.”
“You’re one to talk,” she shot back, a tad defensively. “You went off on your own ship with only a Scorillian for company.”
“Yes, but I actually visit my family once in a while. Geez, Al. Four years and not a single word from you?”
Althea didn’t need to be an empath to feel his pain. The anguish was right there in his facial expression, the sag of his shoulders, and the wistful note in his voice.
“I know it sounds strange, but it didn’t feel like four years to me. Time took on a rhythm of its own and sort of carried me along. Besides, sending deep space coms from Barada isn’t exactly easy.”
He exhaled sharply. “If you’d bothered to ask me before you left—which you didn’t—I could’ve given you a comsystem with an extended battery life and a range that would reach any planet in the quadrant. But no, you had to run off to hide in the jungle where no one could find you.”
“You found me.”
“Only because I needed you, Al. Not because I missed you.”
His words were like a knife to her soul, hurting far more than she ever would have expected. “I’m sorry. I hadn’t realized—”
“Of course you didn’t. You’ve always been so aloof. The only feelings you have are the ones you pick up from other people. Never your own.”
Her jaw dropped. She might’ve expected him to be angry but not to resort to that kind of personal attack. “I have feelings.”
“Oh, come on, Al. You’ve always acted like you were a notch above the rest of us, and you know it. You were the only one of your siblings to inherit your mother’s powers, and you liked it that way, because it gave you an excuse to set yourself apart from the rest of us.”
Her own temper flared. Stomping her foot, she bared her fangs. “Dammit, Larry. My ‘powers’ had nothing to do with it. Out of the five litters born on that ship, I was the only girl. How did you expect me to behave? Like one of the guys?”
His expression softened slightly. “We all loved you, Al. You could’ve at least loved us back.”
“I did,” she insisted. “I do. I just…” She shook her head, trying to make sense of it all while at the same time hoping she could make him understand. “If you’d grown up with other Zetithian girls, you’d know that being standoffish is a part of who we are.” She threw up her hands in a gesture of futility. “It’s genetic, Larry. We can’t help it. And when you add the Mordrial witch line on top of that, we—”
He snorted in disgust. “Look, I know all about that ‘finding The One’ crap. Okay, great. So I wasn’t The One and neither were any of my brothers. Big deal. I don’t know who you’ll wind up with, but I do know you’re sure as hell not gonna find the one man who can father your children on Barada Seven.”
“I know that,” she said quietly. “I’d come to the conclusion that such a man doesn’t exist, so I quit looking.”
To her surprise, he laughed. “You’re all of what, twenty-five? A little young to be giving up, don’t you think?”
“Maybe. Or maybe I’m just taking a break. Seems like everywhere we went, there were guys who had hopes of being that man. None of them even came close. I didn’t feel the slightest interest in any of them. It’s as though my Zetithian blood has made the possibility of finding someone even less likely than it would have been if my father had been Terran or some other species.”
“What about other Mordrials? I know we went to their homeworld a few times.”
She shook her head. “Granted, we were never there for very long, but—nothing.”
“And that’s why you came here?”
“One of the reasons.” She hesitated, catching her upper lip with her teeth. Making him understand was more important than she ever would have dreamed. “I know I’m not likely to meet my perfect mate on a planet populated with skinny orange toads, and I’m pretty sure the toads know it too. But I can actually relax here. I don’t know if you realize what that means to me.”
“Are you saying you don’t want to leave?”
For a moment, she almost said yes. But this was Larry, her lifelong friend, and she’d already given him her word. “No. I said I would help you, and I will. Just promise you’ll bring me back here when I’ve done as you asked.”
Once again, she didn’t need to be an empath to know what he was thinking. His expression and his silence said it all. Although he might give her his promise, he certainly didn’t want to.
“If that’s what you want,” he finally said. “Just don’t expect me or any of your family—or mine—to like it.” His eyes narrowed, his brow flattening to a nearly straight line. “I can tell them where I’m taking you, can’t I? Your whereabouts isn’t a secret anymore?”
“No. I was wrong to keep you all in the dark for so long. I wouldn’t mind a visit now and then. That is, if anyone is still speaking to me.”
“Oh, they’ll speak to you. They might not speak to me when they figure out I’ve known where you were all along.”
“You guessed, Larry,” she drawled. “You didn’t actually know.”
“I wasn’t guessing.” Chuckling, he ran a hand through his hair, looking simultaneously guilty and pleased with himself. “That bag of yours has a tracking device in it.”
“How did you—”
“Know you were planning to leave? Geez, Al. It didn’t take an empath to know you were about to run off into the blue.”
“Was I that obvious?”
“Maybe not to anyone else.” With a sly grin, he added, “But you were to me.”
