I have a vere theory!! So i was thinking,, why did the senobium even chain him? They dont rlly seem to care for ppl’s lives at all so why “protect” them via chaining him right? Its already established that he has this special access to the truth, and since the senobium wants to have a monopoly on info this is a major threat. Here’s my theory: the chain doesnt just keep him from harming humans (implying mc isnt human?) but also from having him speak the truth! Remember what ais said? Yea i think its the collar doing that. Every “truth” he gave us was so convoluted that the collar couldn’t have picked up on it i think.

Aside from having chronic liar syndrome™️ and chronic fucking with people syndrome™️ as a fox spirit I can see this happening.

Back on my flower bs

Vere is old as shit like Kuras, and if Vere's flower is anything to go by, the two could very well have had something to do with "the ancient Senobian ritual gone wrong." Origins of the flower are unclear, so maybe attempts to obfuscate history has been done by the Senobium. If we take the flower to symbolize Vere himself, we could connect the fact that Vere was "born from the depths of the Shroud" to the appearance of the flowers as resulting from the emergence of Fogfall.

Considering the other origin idea that the flower is borne from the "spilt blood of a scorned lover" and Ais mentioning Kuras probably was close to others but "got burnt," Kuras's long history with Vere may involve priveleged Senobian information. Other fans have also talked about how Kuras probably imprisoned Vere himself.

ANYWAY what I mean by all this is that Vere likely knows a lot of shit about the Senobium so yes, I totes agree that the collar and chain could be silencing him as well.

Vere explains that he got imprisoned simply because he's the best at killing. But when others talk about why he might have been imprisoned it's kind of vague: "whatever he did was bad enough" or shit like that. Now this could just be the others respecting that "information is currency" rule and knowing that divulging too much about others could bite them back in the ass; but considering Vere's words are a hit or miss, it's not unreasonable to think that there's more to his imprisonment than simply being a valuable killing machine for the Senobium's enemies and pests.

Also I just reread what you said and yes. Yes. My dumb fucking ass. Of course. My brainless ass totally forgot about Vere's literal SOUL READING ability that grants him access to EVERYTHING about a person. Of fucking course. That IS a power the Senobium concerned with control over information would go insane about wouldn't it. God damn. In a world of secrets that is fucking OP. OF FUCKING COURSE. [SHAKES YOU BY THE SHOULDERS] YOURE SO FUCKING RIGHT I WAS SO BLIND.
