Gonna have to block my first tag
#The wicked muscial was just too inaccessible for too long so I don't care about it any more#+ I can't stand Ariana Grande#Also it's my understanding that these bitches aren't half as gay as they are in the book#Admittedly that still allows for a lot of gay but#Anyway manifesting a Wicked (book) tv mini series soon

YES THIS IS MY TIME TO SHINE (callback to my two wicked! jondami posts i made a few months back)
OKAY so this is a really unpopular opininon it seems BUT i think that Damian could be a damn good Glinda
yes damians main color scheme is green and the animals and what not but damian has, canonically, more friends then jon does, can take the line of popular
in a wicked esque universe i think damians family no matter who hes with would be pretty high up in terms of money and less of power, plus doting doting parents who probably spoil the shit out of him
plus, damian i could see having glinda's whole "maybe a tiny bit closeted and the jealousy/negative emotion turns into anger which i take out on you" BUT THATS A HC DONT COME AT ME WITH PITCHFORKS I BEG
elphaba is a "child of both worlds" kind of thing, which fits jon in terms of the half-kryptonian and blah blah plus learning to control his powers fits with elphie learning to do that with hers
PLUS damian with the passive agressive remarks and backhanded compliments seem right up his alley for someone he doesnt like, and jon letting emotions regulated both his magic and tongue???
Explain why
#anyways#damian al ghul wayne#damian wayne#jon kent#jonathan samuel kent#robin#superboy#super sons#supersons#damijon#jondami#wicked#gelphie comparison#wicked muscial#wicked 2024#i havent seen the movie yet but ive seen the musical#waiting for the book in my library

THOUGHTS ON THE WICKED MOVIE (a week late bc I was busy on opening weekend)
-The soundtrack was AMAZING. LOVED IT. Cynthia and Ariana are both such amazing singers so not really a surprise but still very much appreciated.
-I enjoyed the scenes of Elphaba's childhood, thought they were a nice touch (esp. the bear nanny)
-Cynthia's Elphaba definitely comes across a bit more level headed. She still obviously has moments where she loses control but the moments in the muscial where she just gets angry and no magic happens (like the whole 'no I'm not seasick' bit) are definitely much more subdued. I'm assuming it's mainly bc film acting tends to be more toned down in general. I don't necessarily prefer one way of doing the scene over the other, just thought it was notable.
-Popular was INCREDIBLE. I loved it so, so much. I loved how I could see so many similarities with various performances of the musical I've seen (like Glinda face planting on the bed reminded me of Alli Mauzey) but also it felt original to the film. Also, thoroughly homosexual.
-The Ozdust scene was great. Especially love how they somehow made it even gayer by having Glinda leave with Elphaba instead of going back to dancing with Fiyero.
-Glinda in general was perfect. They nailed the act one energy so well. All the little lines they added fit her so well. I honestly still have a hard time looking at movie Glinda and not just seeing Ariana Grande, but I don't think that has anything to do with the performance. My only complaint was that I needed her to look a little bit more heartbroken and tortured during NOMTW because I enjoy making myself sad. (/hj)
-I do still mourn the loss of Glinda's muscial costumes. I wish she was allowed more than a tiny sliver of the colour wheel to choose from. The costumes are gorgeous, I just wish there was more colour variation. That being said, I did love Elphaba's costumes.
-I really wish they had given Ariana Grande the stupid ringlets for the bubble dress. Partly because I just enjoy them, but also I think the different hairstyle is a really easy way to show that a significant amount of time has passed even though the actress looks otherwise the same.
-I loved the Kristin and Idina cameo. It felt like such a nice nod to the musical without wearing out it's welcome
-I really loved the little parts of for good in the background during couple of scenes. Still upset I have to wait until next year for the full version
-Fiyero is more likable, but I honestly think I preferred when he was more of an asshole initially bc it gives his character more room to grow (but let's be real I don't give a shit about Fiyero I'm just here for Gelphie/j)
-They seem to be doing more to set up Fiyeraba in general, but it's not at the expense of Gelphie so I'll allow it
-I didn't hate the CGI Animals as much as I thought I would
-I miss Dr Dillamond eating paper. It was a good bit

i also think where wicked muscial humor shines the most is where it's punchy and concise so the fact that the movie tried to really draw out some of those bits. NOT that i don't think it was ultimately good that they tried to vary the script while maintaining the spirit. i don't want a remake to be the exact same thing copy paste reskinned. but in the bit where glinda tries to makeover transform elphaba's 'simple frock' into a gown, fails, and then chucks her wand away and goes 'just wear the frock it's cute', movie glinda calls elphaba's outfit a frock, then alters to coat, then settles on calling it a 'froat.'

"Run."
An explanation? I don't have one of those. This AU is nothing but vibes built upon the foundation of whatever music I'm listening to at the moment. For example, this drawing's musical inspiration is Defying Gravity from Wicked the muscial.

hello. hope you are ok and your family member has recovered and is feeling better ? any plans for the upcoming weekend ? thoughts on muscials ? any favourites or wish to watch ?
Thanks! they are feeling better now and hopefully will just have to remain vigilante about their health in the future
This weekend is a birthday celebration for a few members of my extended family, so I'll be seeing a bunch of them. And I have a friend visiting from out of town, so we're getting brunch :)
Musicals? LOVE THEM. my music taste in general has always gravitated toward "very talented vocalists" almost irrespective of genre or lyrics or production, so musicals are right up my alley.
I love both stage productions and movie musicals, some faves (both sentimental and not) are: Wicked, Mean Girls (mostly the Regina numbers lmao), Moulin Rouge (the movie), Sound of Music, Hamilton, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Twisted, Come From Away, Anastasia (the movie version), Kinky Boots
I really want to see Hadestown, The Lion King (the stage version), Waitress, Fun Home, SIX, and probably a whole bunch more that I can't recall right now lol

Wicked (2024)- Filmkritik
Filmreview in Kürze:
The best way to bring folks together is to give them a real good enemy.

First week of December
Dan gave me one of my Christmas presents early and I LOVE it. Harrison is the silliest baby in the world.
I made some cheddar scones and we had them with eggs for breakfast this week. They were pretty good, I do think I went a little crazy with the salt though.
Harrison HATES Brazil nuts. Another update: got him an automatic litter box and it has made my life so much easier.
We went to trivia and lost for the first time. Here's a picture from the walk there.
Saw wicked with my friends! It was pretty good. I thought it was hilarious that just as the movie was starting April goes "This is a muscial?" I got chips and queso and a drink called a witches brew, twas good!
One of our dinners from the week that Dan and I made together. Steak and yogurt is amazing together.
Some cozy pics... I've been playing some magic AND with my new heated blanket I've been a lot more motivated to read and quilt. I feel like if I'm cold I'll just stay in bed and sleep. So with this, I can be anywhere and do what I like.
AND competed in the RISE cup! It was a lot of fun and here's a scene of Will and I in a car.

Normally I get unreasonably obsessed with one musical a year. 2021 was Groundhog Day the Muscial, 2022 was Frankenstein: A New Musical, 2023 was Wicked. I don't know what happened this year. I am DROWNING IN MUSICALS.
Falsettos, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, plus a revived love of some of the songs from Count of Monte Cristo
#i also just re watched newsies with my sisters#and started re listening to some book of mormom songs

do you have any favorite musicals or songs from muscials? also, whats your opinion on cheese? (yes the cheese question is a genuine question)
ooh hello 👁️ 👁️
i do love musicals! I’d say my top three are Wicked, The Greatest Showman, and Six
And as for cheese… hmm I’m not gonna say I like all cheeses but I really like the mild ones like colby jack and havarti. although sharp cheddar and ghost pepper cheeses are really good too-
