Girlfriend V / S Bestfriend
Girlfriend v / s Bestfriend
Word count: 4245
Prompt: “Free Day” Day 7 of Digiweek 2021
Features Characters: Yamato, Mimi, Taichi, Sora, Takeru, Kari, Koshiro and Joe
A / N: I had written this a while back and thought I would post it during day 7 of free day. Hope you enjoy my attempt at this little humours fic.
Also Today is August 1st - Happy Odaiba Day
@digiweek
Summary: Yamato finds himself in between yet another argument of Taichi and Mimi, but this time Sora has a solution that just might solve the age old question or just make things more awkward for Yamato
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I hope we are not too late,” Sora commented as she, Yamato and Takeru were making their way to Taichi’s house.
“We are very late,” Yamato replied blandly.
“We would have been on time if you hadn’t taken so much time in picking out a gift for your girlfriend,” Sora shot back caustically. “besides, you asked us for our help.” she further pointed out.
“She’s right you know,” Takeru added; “who knew you would take so much time!” he muttered “in choosing a dress,” last part almost to himself.
“Yeah, whatever,” Yamato said rolling his eyes, clearly having heard what Takeru said.
“Thanks for helping though,” Yamato murmured after a bit of walking in silence. “I really want this date to be special.” And Takeru; Yamato said halting and turning towards his brother, “She better not find out about this surprise.” Yamato commanded Takeru in a playful warning tone, remembering how Takeru had a habit of confiding in her in just about anything and everything.
“My lips are sealed!” Takeru said enthusiastically. “Relax, she will love it! I’m sure, besides your anniversary is next week! He said beaming at a nervous Yamato.
Sensing Yamato still needed some assurance, Takeru added, “You got the black dress, the necklace, you booked the table at Il Ristorante - Luca Fantin,” he stopped and looked at Yamato, “You booked it right?”
“Yes, of course, a month ago” Yamato added.
“And we got the limo, I know because I booked that one, Sora’s going to give you the flowers in the morning” Takeru added counting down the list on his fingers, “We have the perfect coverup story so now,” he continued as they reached Taichi’s house “let’s just hang out with the others and not let her suspect anything.” He said beaming to a somewhat confident Yamato.
Great, poker face, Yamato thought as they rang the bell to Taichi’s door.
When they arrived at Taichi’s all 3 of them were revising their excuse as to why they turned up together and that too late. The excuse was going to be that Yamato and Takeru were held back by their mum and on the way to Taichi’s place they bumped into Sora who was going to say she came from her tennis class that was near Takeru’s place and thus they ended upcoming together.
As it turned out they didn’t really have to worry about their excuses because they could hear Taichi and Mimi arguing while they waited outside for someone to open the door.
“What’s the argument about this time?” Sora asked as Joe opened the door.
“You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you” Joe sighted back rubbing his forehead.
“Are they finally here?” Kari called out from the room.
“Yeah,” Joe shouted back.
“Tell them to come here and end this now.” they heard Koshiro say clearly sounding annoyed.
“We have been friends forever.” They could hear Taichi claim loudly at Mimi.
“So have we! and we’ve been dating for 3 years now.” Mimi shot back.
“Ha please, you’ll didn’t even talk with each other during elementary school.” Taichi declared assuming his victory.
“So what! I know things that you would never ever know,” Mimi replied back with a smirk, “I am the one that sleeps with him.”
Yamato blushed bright red overhearing this conversation as he, Takeru, and Sora entered the room.
“Are you two fighting; over who knows Yamato better?” Sora asked with amusement.
“Obviously I do!” Mimi smiled as she approached Yamato and gave him a quick kiss.
“Kissing someone doesn’t necessarily mean you know them,” Taichi said shrugging his shoulders. “I kissed Catherine a couple of times; didn’t know she already had a boyfriend.”
“That’s because all you guys did was kiss,” Sora commented back dryly.
“Touché!” Taichi smirked at the guys as Sora and Kari shook their heads.
“Anyway,” Yamato said butting in “I guess I would say, Mimi does know me better than you, sorry Taichi.”
“That’s my man,” Mimi said happily sending an air kiss in Yamato’s direction.
“Whipped” Taichi smirked as he received a glare from Yamato.
“Anyway, I know you are just saying this because you want to continue sleeping with her.” Taichi continued now rolling his eyes at Yamato. “and you know I am right, thus further proving my point that I know him better,” Taichi concluded with his hands gesturing and looking at everyone to agree with him.
As Yamato opened his mouth to argue back, “A quiz!” Sora chimed in quickly.
“I will ask both of you’ll a few questions about Yamato, and whoever answers most of them correctly is the winner.” Sora continued excitedly as Yamato, Mimi and Taichi looked at her with confusion.
“That’s a good idea but obviously Yamato will agree with Mimi and cheat,” Taichi said shooting a look at Mimi.
Before Mimi could argue back to that, “Written cards” Koshiro butted in. “Sora can ask the question, all 3 of you’ll get a card to write the answers and then everyone can reveal the answers that they wrote at the same time, so no one can cheat,” Koshiro explained.
“You can’t be serious!” Yamato said facepalming while Taichi and Mimi were giving it a serious thought.
“This is a great idea” Takeru chimed. “Although technically I am supposed to know him better than both of you’ll.” He said pointing at Mimi and Taichi, “but this way I will find out things I don’t know about you” he added with excitement.
“This is going to be so much fun” Sora smirked with gleaming eyes as she looked directly at Yamato.
“I’m sorry Yamato”, Joe added sympathetically patting Yamato on his shoulder.
While the others prepared the questions, Yamato, Taichi and Mimi waited in the other room.
“Better game up Tachikawa,” Taichi said stretching his neck, getting his game mode on.
“You’re going down Yagami,” Mimi said narrowing her eyes at Taichi.
“Oh Boy!” is all Yamato could mutter.
“Okay, we are ready,” Kari giggled as Taichi, Yamato, and Mimi entered the room.
“Please sit at your assigned seats,” Joe said, pointing to the chairs that had each of their names, a bunch of empty cards, and a marker for them to write with. “This way no one can cheat,” he said as Yamato, Mimi, and Taichi took their seats.
“Rules are simple,” Koshiro continued, “Sora will host, asking you’ll questions about Yamato, you get 10 seconds to write your answers on the cards and when asked you will reveal what you have written after which Yamato reveals his answer, Kari keeps score, and we can see which one of you’ll knows Yamato best.” He finished taking his seat near Joe and Takeru as Sora stood in front of the three participants.
“Welcome to the game of Girlfriend v/s Best friend; a game where Mimi, the girlfriend, and Taichi, the best friend or is it the other way around?” Sora spoke commanding everyone’s attention as she began the game joyfully in her best host voice.
“Anyway, where both will try and answer some questions about Yamato. The person with the most correct answers wins the game and proves to the other that they do indeed know Yamato better.” She continued gleefully.
“Okay, let’s do this!” Mimi said with a determined look on her face.
“Bring it on!” Taichi answered equally determinedly.
“You all are enjoying this way too much,” Yamato said annoyed.
“You have no idea,” Sora replied giggling.
“Starting off with an easy Question, Question 1 for girlfriend vs best friend is What colour M&Ms are Yamato’s favourite?” Sora asked grinning at the three.
As soon as Sora finished asking the question Mimi, Taichi, and Yamato quickly wrote down their answers as Koshiro timed them.
And “Mimi” Sora said pointing at Mimi as Koshiro gave her the nod indicating the time was up.
Blue – Mimi’s card read. “He always snatches up the blue ones while I go for the red ones.” She said smiling broadly.
Blue – Taichi’s card also read “this is too easy.” He said lazily.
“And now for the reveal, Yamato?” Sora asked turning to Yamato.
Yamato sighed and held up his card, where it was written Blue, “remind me why I agreed to this again?” he asked in a defeated tone.
“Because it’s fun and we get to take your case,” Sora said with a bright smile. “Also, I get my revenge on you for dragging me through 20 different shops” She added the last part softly to Yamato while Mimi and Taichi were busy taunting each other. “A point to both Mimi and Taichi” She concluded loudly pointing at Kari who giving a thumbs up and wrote down the score on the board.
“After an easy start moving on to Question 2!” Sora continued with the same enthusiasm; What is Yamato’s favourite food?”
As before all 3 of them wrote down the answer as soon as Sora asked the question and Koshiro began his timer. With a nod from Koshiro, Sora asked Taichi and Mimi to reveal their answers.
Pizza – Taichi’s card read. “obviously” he muttered while showing his card.
Onigiri/Mochi – Mimi’s card read “I know this because I cook for him.” She answered giving Yamato a sweet but dangerous look indicating his answer better be this.
Onigiri – Yamato’s card read. “I like pizza and mochi as well,” Yamato said looking at Taichi apologetically, while Mimi gave him one of her widest smiles.
“Oo bad luck Taichi, looks like Yamato’s favourite food is Onigiri.” Sora concluded in her host voice. “and that’s a point to Mimi." She said pointing at Kari who put another point up for Mimi.
“Whose favourite food is not Pizza!” Taichi said out loud and annoyed as he threw his answer card down.
“We all like pizza but you have an unhealthy obsession with it Taichi,” Kari said sighing. “Seriously I once saw him finish 2 large pizza’s in 1 go,” she added looking at the group.
“Hey, those pizzas were to die for,” Taichi said defending his love for pizza.
“Oh, is it the place you insisted we go for my birthday?” Koshiro asked. “Oh yeah, those pizzas were really good” he agreed, much to Taichi’s delight.
“The very same” Taichi answered happy that Koshiro was there to back him up.
“Which reminds me, we should order some food for later,” Joe said taking out his phone to place an order. “Any suggestions?” he asked looking around.
“Pizza” Taichi answered before anyone else could. “And Yamato my Pizza is on you for not answering pizza.”
“And mine too” Mimi added. I agree with Taichi on this, she giggled much to Taichi’s delight.
“Wait, What! But Onigiri? Fine!.” Yamato said just throwing his hands up and giving up.
“Hey, I am the host, my Pizza is on you as well,” Sora added to the mix.
“I keep the score” Kari chimed in.
“and I time you guys,” Koshiro added.
“and I am your brother,” Takeru said giving his best puppy dog face.
“you guys torture me like this and expect the pizza to be on me?” “Some friends you are!” Yamato started protesting.
“Pizza is on me and Yamato,” Joe said giving Yamato an apologetic look as Yamato put his hands on his face in annoyance.
“As Joe orders the Pizza, we move on to Question 3, What is Yamato’s preferred pizza topping?” Sora continued in her host mode.
“Was that question on the list?” Koshiro asked giving Sora a confused look.
“Well, I just thought of it” she added. “come on guys it’s a relevant question!”
Alright, muttered the three as they wrote down their answers.
“And for the reveal,” Sora said pointing towards her best friend, “Mimi”
Double Cheese – Mimi’s card read. “Yamato really loves cheese”
Double Cheese – Taichi’s card read as well; “you better not answer anything else, our friendship is literally at stake now” Taichi said dramatically.
Double Cheese – Yamato’s card read, “you know it” Yamato exclaimed as Taichi grinned chanting, “Our friendship is saved.”
“Mimi leading by a point, we move on to Question 4,” Sora said laughing at the exchange. “Which is Yamato’s favourite band?”
“And answers,” she said as she got the nod from Koshiro.
Mimi and Taichi held up their cards at the same time
Nirvana – Mimi’s card read, “Yamato absolutely loves them, he also likes Linkin Park though.”
Nirvana – Taichi’s card also read. “Yeah, I remember this from elementary school.” He said shooting a look at Mimi.
Nirvana – Yamato’s card also read. “I think everyone knows this.”
“Apparently they do, adding a point each to Mimi and Taichi.” Sora concluded.
“For Question 5” Sora continued; “Which sport does Yamato least suck at?”
“Thanks for putting it that way,” Yamato said rolling his eyes at Sora.
“My pleasure, and Mimi?” Sora smirked, clearly enjoying her role as the hostess.
Basketball – Mimi’s card read “He loses against Takeru every time,” she said earning a grin from Takeru and a very annoyed “hey” from Yamato.
“Taichi?”
Basketball – Taichi’s card also read. “He really sucks at soccer.” Earning a further “hey!” from Yamato.
“I can beat every one of your asses in Basketball,” Yamato stated as he showed his card that read Basketball.
“and yet somehow you always lose to me”
“Shut up Takeru.” Yamato glared at Takeru as everyone laughed.
“Moving on to Question 6,” Sora continued. “What is Yamato’s favourite guilt trip series to binge?”
Doctor who – Taichi’s card read when Sora called out his name to reveal his answer. “I don’t know why but he loves that show.”
Glee – Mimi’s card read next.
“Mimi that’s your favourite guilt trip series, not mine” Yamato said, showing his card that read – Doctor who.
“but you always watch glee with me” Mimi pouted.
“yes, because you enjoy it, I watch it with you,” Yamato said smiling at her, at which she further pouted.
“Looks like Taichi knows Yamato’s Tv preference here better than Mimi” Sora concluded. “With a point to Taichi, he is now caught up with Mimi.”
“And for Question 7,” Sora continued in her best hostess impression. “If Yamato could have anyone’s superpowers from the Avengers team, who’s powers would he want to have?”
“Great question!” Kari said looking at Koshiro, who had suggested the question. Blushing at Kari’s comment, Koshiro nodded to Sora as the time ended.
“Mimi? Your answer please” Sora asked her friend.
Captain America – Mimi’s card read as she looked at Yamato with a dreamy expression.
“Oo Captain America, that would be a hot choice,” Sora giggled. “Taichi?”
Iron Man – Taichi’s card read. “Please, Yamato is more like Tony Stark, also he’s the coolest.
Thor – Yamato’s card read. As everyone gave him a bland expression. “What?” he added.
“Seriously? I thought you like Captain America, you have a keychain of his shield” Mimi squealed, somehow offended, “also he’s the hottest! and you definitely have the Ass, perhaps not America’s but definitely Japan’s Ass.” Mimi added winking to a very red Yamato.
“Hmm I don’t know, maybe; Yamato, give us a twirl now, will you?” Taichi said trying to check out Yamato.
“And deleting that image from my mind,” Takeru said making a face at Yamato.
“Yeah, but I would prefer Thor’s powers, I could fly and manipulate thunder and also not to mention I would be a God.” Yamato tried defending his answer.
“Okay, no points for anyone, looks like you guys need to buck up your game, if you wanna win who knows Japan’s Ass better,” Sora concluded laughing.
“Shudd up.” Is all Yamato could say red in his face as everyone laughed.
“Moving on to DC, Question 8!” Sora continued as the laughter died down. “Who is Yamato’s all-time favourite DC character?”
“I actually like DC more than Marvel” Takeru added to the room.
“Nah aa, marvel all the way” Kari shot back at Takeru. “They have better movies”
“Please, who can compete against Batman?” Takeru chimed in.
“Have you read any of the comics?” Koshiro asked them both.
“some” Takeru mumbled while Kari shook her head.
“And before this gets into a Marvel vs Dc or TV vs Comics, answers please!” Sora slipped in halting that discussion.
Batman – Taichi’s card read. “obviously”
Nightwing – Mimi’s card read. “This time it’s definitely the butt," she added with a squeal.
Nightwing – Yamato’s card read. “It's not because of the ass” Yamato added to a gleaming Mimi.
“Okay, seriously Yamato, you have got to give us a twirl!” Taichi exclaimed.
All Yamato could do was glare at Taichi as the girls giggled and the boys laughed.
“We are just getting started on to the good questions” Sora added cheekily as the laughter subsided. “Moving on to the next question! Question 9” “What age did Yamato have his first kiss?”
Yamato and Mimi both blushed hiding their faces behind their cards as they wrote the answer.
“And Mimi?” Sora asked
13 – Mimi’s card read
16 – Taichi’s card read. “He was a late bloomer” Taichi teased
13 – Yamato’s card read as he held it up to cover his face.
“13? Really? Who?” Sora asked surprised, asking the question that was on everyone’s mind as Yamato was extremely closed off as a person that time.
“Mimi,” Yamato answered slowly “the day she was leaving for the states”
“But you guys weren’t together that time,” Koshiro asked. “or were you already secretly dating”
“Well, it was unexpected for me as well, I mean I did have a crush on him that time but didn’t think he had, so imagine my surprise when I went to tell him goodbye, he kissed me.” Mimi smiled at the memory, “And he’s really improved a lot since then in that department” she added in a teasing tone.
“I knew I saw the two of you kiss, you told me I was seeing things,” Takeru exclaimed at Yamato.
“I didn’t really want anyone to know,” Yamato said apologetically to Takeru.
“Those mood swings make so much more sense now” Takeru added laughing.
“Okay, moving on” Yamato gestured to a smiling Sora.
“This game is just getting started,” Sora said amused at Yamato’s embarrassment.
“I am going to kill all of you,” Yamato replied pointing towards Sora and the other spectators.
“Kari, would you tell us the score please,” Sora said sticking out her tongue at Yamato.
“Taichi needs to game up, as Mimi is leading by 2 points.” Kari added with a giggle.
“Revealing more secrets of the lone wolf, moving on to Question 10” Sora smiled “What is Yamato’s favourite alcoholic beverage?
Even before sora could ask for an answer,
Beer – Taichi’s card read. “phh please” he added with an air of confidence.
Old Fashioned – Mimi’s card read. Please, Yamato likes his classic gentleman’s whiskey drink”
Old Fashioned – Yamato’s card read.
“What old fashion? Are you kidding me!!!! We always drink beer together” Taichi bellowed.
“But I like a good whiskey, bourbon, or scotch.” Yamato tried to defend himself.
“And you don’t like the beers we drink together?” Taichi asked absolutely furious.
“Yeah, of course I like beers but that’s not my favourite alcoholic beverage Taichi” Mat tried to explain.
“oh! So now beer isn’t sophisticated enough for you! First, you turn your back on Pizza and now Beer!” Taichi crossed his arms absolutely fuming.
“Taichi” Yamato tried to continue.
“Next boys’ night you get your own fancy-ass drink” Taichi pouted cutting Yamato off “Sora, next Question”
“Taichi” Yamato tried again.
“Next Question Sora”
Giving Yamato an apologetic look, Sora continued “Moving on to Question 11, What is Yamato the most afraid of?”
Ghosts – Taichi’s card red. “Remember the time when me, Takeru, and Mimi pranked Yamato” Taichi said laughing at the memory as they had spooked Yamato quite badly.
Ghosts – Mimi showed her card, smiling at the memory.
Ghosts – Yamato’s card read as well, cursing Takeru for revealing his secret.
“With Mimi still in the lead, Question 12” Sora continued with a knowing smirk towards Yamato. “Which celebrity is on Yamato’s list? Basically, which celebrity does Yamato wish to sleep with?” she further clarified.
Mariya Nishiuchi – Taichi held up his card excitedly
Merei Kiritani – Mimi held up her card with a stoic expression.
Mariya Nishiuchi – Yamato held his card, looking anywhere except at Mimi.
“oo she is pretty” Joe let slip to everyone’s amusement.
“Didn’t she come for one of your shows?” Takeru asked with an innocent curious look, while Mimi looked surprised, and Yamato tried to signal him to shut up.
“I don’t know what you are talking about” Yamato dismissed Takeru.
“Hang on!” Mimi added looking at Yamato now. “When was this? And how do I not know about this?”
“She came backstage as well” Takeru added. “I remember it was when you were in New York for your work visit,” Takeru said looking at Mimi.
“Mimi, I swear, nothing happened. She came to meet the band and that was it, I walked out of my dressing room when she came in”
“Okay this even I didn’t know,” Takeru said amused. “I just remember she came backstage to tell you guys she really enjoyed the show.”
“Are you telling me, you had the opportunity and you chickened out?” Taichi roared with laughter.
“Excuse me?” Mimi said tartly to Taichi.
“I didn’t chicken out Taichi, I didn’t want anything to do with her.” Yamato replied just as tartly.
“Not what you said when we were watching ..” Taichi continued in a teasing tone
“Shut up Taichi” Yamato cut Taichi off. “Mimi, babe, its not ..”
“We shall talk about this later,” Mimi said narrowing her eyes.
“Is this over yet?” Yamato asked to the room where the others were just giggling at his misery.
“no no, I want to see what else I don’t know about you.” Mimi replied in a teasing manner.
“Is it lets torture Yamato Day, today?” Yamato asked rhetorically.
“Mimi,” Joe asked cautiously, still not convinced of her mood, to which the ever bubbly girl just smiled and winked. Satisfied that Yamato won’t be in much trouble, Joe cleared his throat, “I think we have 3 more questions” to which Sora and Koshiro nodded.
The bell rung indicating the pizza was here. Joe and Yamato went to get the pizzas and pay for them, with Yamato insisting to pay for the whole thing and Joe politely but sternly telling him that they can split it amongst both of them.
Handing everyone their food and beverages, as Yamato and Joe got back in their place, Sora continued the game.
“To continue on to Yamato’s torture, Question 13,” she asked, “What type of porn category does Yamato like?” in a very serious and calm voice.
Joe almost choked on his drink while Koshiro spat out his drink, as the remaining two roared with laughter.
“Taichi?” Sora asked barely able to contain her laugh,
Cheerleader – Taichi’s card read. “I remember the time when he used to fantasize about Mimi in her cheerleading outfit all the time. I don’t think he’s gotten over that.” Taichi said raising his eyebrows cheekily at Yamato and Mimi.
Threesome – Mimi’s card read. “Really? You used to fantasize about me back then?” she asked amused. “And here I thought you were dropping hints for a 3way.”
Cheerleader – Yamato’s card read. “That wasn’t a hint, Mimi. I told you it was a misunderstanding.” He said blushing furiously than he ever had.
“Shame,” Mimi said casually checking her nails, “I might have been game.” She added with a wink towards him.
Taichi nearly fell off his chair, while Koshiro did fall off his chair, his mouth open with shock.
“You lucky lucky son of a gun,” Taichi added to a blushing Yamato, with a slight hint of jealousy in his voice.
“Misunderstanding?” Sora asked trying to fish for the story, while Kari just laughed and Joe looked down embarrassed.
“Okay, too much information for me,” Takeru said clearing her throat. “Next question please,” he said gesturing towards Sora.
“So having that opportunity taken away from him, moving on to Question 14.” Sora continued still between her laughs. “What is Yamato’s safe word?”
Sora wiped the tears rolling down her cheeks and gestured for all of them to reveal their answers.
Orangutan – Taichi’s card read.
Orangutan – Mimi’s card also read.
Orangutan – Yamato’s card read as well.
Seeing the shocked look on everyone’s face, Mimi looked over to Taichi’s card and in a very loud pitch voice, almost shouting exclaimed, “What!!”
“What! No way, What! How do you even know that?” Mimi bellowed.
“Are you fucking kidding me right now?” Taichi laughed falling off his chair, as Yamato just stared at Taichi with total shock. “Dude we really are soulmates.” Taichi managed to say between laughs as he struggled to get off the floor.
“I’m done, you know what I am done. All the other questions are irrelevant now” Mimi dropped her cards, got up, and walked out the room.
“Mimi come back,” Taichi tried calling behind her. “Princess,” he called after her as he got up and ran behind her still laughing his head off at the coincidence.
Yamato just shook his head, covering his face with his hands, as the rest of the people in the room erupted in laughter that went on for quite a while.

Review! Digimon Adventure: (2020) Episode 56: The Gold Wolf of the Crescent Moon
In this episode, Gabumon takes it upon himself to risk his neck to end an ancient curse, knowing there’s a cool alternate evolution at the other end of it.
For most of the child-Digimon partnerships, it’s pretty evident who’s in charge: whatever situation they’re being dragged through. The lack of true agency has been an issue throughout the series. Gabumon has, strangely, been an occasional exception. While Yamato has complied with every situation since DarkKnightmon, Gabumon still likes to call the shots sometimes, and even if much of his decisiveness here stems from a recurring dream, it spurs him into actions when everyone else is stuck. Nobody shows off much personality here and the story is as basic as it gets, but it avoids recent pitfalls and manages to showcase an alternate evolution without feeling forced or arbitrary.
Its a simple pleasure, but there is something refreshing about the trouble going after them for once. Yamato and Gabumon are just chilling by a fire, pondering their next move, when they’re wrapped up in the rampage of a cursed spirit. While in survival mode, they witness the local resistance and its tragic failure. Actual death! How about that? Right away, we have Yamato and Gabumon in the thick of it, experiencing actual loss and getting true sense of the danger, realizing regular attacks don’t affect Zanbamon, and at a point where running away would be kind of a dick move no matter what the locals say.
You do kind of miss the days when Yamato would try, however. Were he in his earlier, harder, Takeru-starved days or he actually had something important to do, he might be less inclined to play along and stay in the fire, seizing whatever opportunity he could to continue the main quest. He would have been wrong and it would have made him look bad, but the lack of basically anything from him here, doing all the right things and following Gabumon’s lead, makes him the least interesting thing in the episode. It’s a clear, sustained growth—few others have anything like that—but it would be a shame if the first sign of intrigue the series gave us is already done and stuck in this neutered form through the duration.
At least Yamato calling Koshiro for information yields results. He’s the first to recognize the value of having a teammate stationed in the Digital World’s knowledge base. Koshiro comes through not only with the background they needed to unravel the mystery, but sending a ringer to help. It’s yet another instance of Taichi jumping in only to not contribute very much, but here there’s a logic behind it. Yes, that’s what Koshiro would do to offer Yamato some support while gathering the information. Would it have been more fun to throw in another kid that isn’t over-exposed? Sure, but if Taichi’s bound to make pointless run-ins all the time, better that they make sense.
In the end, this is Gabumon’s episode and he’s not sharing with anybody. In the same way that Patamon and Tailmon have proved to be the true main characters of this story, Gabumon seizes his moments. While the role of the steadfast, loyal pupper doesn’t always translate into a cool leading role, it’s interesting to see how that translates when the drive is internal. He’s curious about the dreams he’s been having, and when he spies a connection to them and the legend cursing the forest, he’s all-in on taking the steps to make the dreams reality. He doesn’t take them as a warning, but a destiny to fulfill. It would have been nice if Gabumon felt the need to communicate some of this with his partner, but as Yamato’s become a steadfast, loyal pupper too, it’s all good.
Once the legend is introduced, the rest of the episode goes exactly as expected: they’re going to find the sword, Gabumon’s going to use it to evolve to ancient rival CresGarurumon, and that’s going to be able to harm Zanbamon. Taichi will help. Strange how ancient spirits and a curse make for the most fundamentally reasonable alternate evolution we’ve had so far, but that’s Digimon for you. BlitzGreymon was tacked-on and kind of pointless while Ponchomon was a spot of madness in response to an inundation of it. The episode doesn’t offer a whole lot, but in avoiding mistakes it’s easier to appreciate the flashier elements of CresGarurumon and what brought him out. We’re still a far cry from any substance, but that sound foundation makes it all right to be cool.
My Grade: B
Loose Data:
It can’t be understated how much this episode hinges on Gabumon realizing his dream was a good prophecy and not a bad omen. There’s enough fire and steel in the dream that it would be easy to imagine that as a doomsday scenario to avoid at all costs.
Taichi ditching Sora, Joe, Takeru, and Hikari made sense since they presumably still have arrows to follow (not sure why Sora still does after getting Hououmon, but it wasn’t suggested her path was fulfilled), but what’s Mimi supposed to be doing right now?
Also, it’s pretty unclear whether Yamato’s reached his destination. Awfully anti-climactic if it was since he really didn’t do anything.
The legend surrounds two swordfighters, which is timeless and all, but it’s really stretching the definition to call CresGarurumon’s weapon a sword. That’s a long-ass hilt! The kiju engetsuto comes off more like a spear, albeit one with a sword-ish looking blade at the end of it. It’s one of those weapons in Digimon that’s better off not trying to categorize.
In keeping with the episode getting the fundamentals right, they picked a perfect time to use a longer evolution sequence for WereGarurumon. The action elements often come off like the whole thing’s in slow motion, and this just helps feed into that. It comes together well.

Digimon Adventure tri. ~ Character Songs + Analysis
I think too much. This is just the danger of being a Creative Writing major and a great lover of anime/fiction in general.
But I feel it is my duty to get purposely in too deep and get into the nitty-gritty of the character songs produced during the Tri era.
Because, when you think about it? There’s A LOT in them.
I ended up writing a lot, so all analyses are under the cut.
Chosen Children Compilation
Taichi/Tai ; Eien no Puzzle
Like all of these songs, Tai’s song is incredibly in-character for him. His song speaks of the adventure he’s found himself on ever since that fateful encounter years ago. His song doesn’t necessarily mention Agumon explicitly, except for one key line:
“I can go anywhere with you.”
Tai has always been constantly moving forward, even when reflecting on the past. Sometimes he doesn’t even think about where he’s going (”You don’t have to know where you’re going”), due to his impulsive nature, but in his eyes, going forward is the key to making it to tomorrow. (I know it’s cheesy. This is Digimon.) I’d like to think that despite his internal struggle throughout Tri, this song represents everything he learns by the end of it all.
I give Tai a lot of tough love about his impulsivity, but this song showcases the positive side to Tai’s almost consistent “let’s go and think about it later.” There’s nothing wrong with going into something without a plan, or without a lick of common sense, so long as the adventure turns out good in the end. (Didja catch that reference to “Butter-fly”?) Although the DigiDestined have gone through a lot, and being impulsive has sometimes turned out bad, the real adventure is spending time with those you care about. In Tai’s case, this means going and “adventuring” with Agumon. He’ll probably get lost along the way, but that’s the fun of it all! After all, the DigiDestined were lost the first time they went to the Digital World, but look at all they accomplished!
Life is a bit of an Eternal Puzzle, but going forward will get you to tomorrow. I don’t know about you all, but I’d follow Tai on his adventures!
Yamato/Matt ; Boku ni Totte
A good number of these songs directly match up with their human/Digimon partner’s, so naturally Matt’s would be the first to do so.
We may not always see it through Matt’s tough exterior (that he rarely lets down even as the years go by), but he has a great capacity for love in his heart. Gabumon is one of two characters we see him express this affection for (the other being T.K.) directly, and this song is entirely dedicated to his Digimon partner.
Multiple times throughout the various installments of Adventure, Matt finds himself separated from Gabumon. Hence the repeated “Don’t say goodbye” with the very clearly pained tone.
I think my favorite line would be this one: “You laughed a little when I said I wanted to become stronger and to protect you / But I thought it was still okay”. The beautiful thing about the human/Digimon bond is that one will always want to protect the other, even though one may be more capable of doing so. Matt’s desire to protect Gabumon most certainly stems from his protectiveness over T.K., but that doesn’t make it any less real.
Matt has a very intense love for Gabumon; his Digimon partner will always be close to his heart and soul. The “I need you” at the end of the song says it all. And it probably explains why this is the song I listen to most out of all of these.
Sora ; Yume no Kanau Basho
Sora’s had her moments of doubt and fear. Of course she has. But let’s not forget that for the most part, she remains optimistic and supportive with everyone in the group.
This song is about missing her Digimon, but it’s so optimistic about seeing her again, it’s hard to remember the pain involved.
The verses of the song seem to linger on good memories with Biyomon (”You stayed by my side when I felt hurt”) while the chorus discusses Sora’s desire to find the Digital World and meet up with Biyomon again (”No matter how far the future is / You and I are connected now”).
One of the most beautiful parts of the song is the verse before the second chorus.
“‘I’m sorry’ for how I’ve changed I wish you would always stay the same ‘Thank you’ with all of my heart I want to send you all of these feelings”
Sora changes a lot over the series, and lots of things change around her. The one constant, however, has been her love for Biyomon. These two are close in a way that the other partners aren’t, and that’s what I love about the series. No human/Digimon relationship is the same, although the forms of love are. The great thing about Sora and Biyomon is that we get to see in action what the others have emotionally/mentally. And that’s pretty much summed up in these two lines (which are my favorite in this song):
“If I could make only one wish It would be to stay with you from now on”
Koshiro/Izzy ; Kioku no Kakera -Koshiro Side-
We all know it; Izzy has never been the most in touch with his emotions. Hell, he can barely handle his crush on Mimi during Tri without turning into a mess. When he does get his emotions together, though, it’s usually because of Tentomon in some way, shape, or form.
Although Izzy’s song is not expressly about the Adventure as a whole or Tentomon entirely, we do see a bit of insight into how Izzy truly saw his connection with Digimon affairs. He reflects on the first time he met Tentomon (”Your body was small / When I met you”) and even ponders the future (”The future we spoke of making has disappeared”). What remains is him struggling to put to words how he feels about all of this.
“I don’t know why I am crying”
This line is pretty self-explanatory. Izzy will probably always struggle to completely connect reality with his emotions, but because he learned to love Tentomon, he’s also learned to love others and he’s slowly getting there. I love our boy genius to death. Even if emotions don’t make sense, what he does understand are connections, hence, “Always, With you, I always want to stay connected with you”
I must also point out this line: “When walls are closing in, you encourage me/ ‘That’s right’ ‘tell me more’ ‘try again’, over and over again”. In a world that didn’t understand how Izzy could be so embroiled in technology, Tentomon was always the one to encourage him, and for that, Izzy will always be grateful.
God, I love these two.
Mimi ; Go My Way
The very tone of this song is so Mimi, it’s almost painful.
It’s hard to tell who exactly Mimi is addressing in this song: the gang? Palmon? Meiko? Who can really say? Perhaps it’s all of them at once. Although it’s hard to tell, this song has very much the same feeling as Tai’s. There’s a very upbeat feeling to it, one about moving forward even when times are tough.
Mimi’s always struggled to handle the heavier parts of Digital affairs; she’s not a “heavy” person by nature. She kinda reveals this in-song (”I don’t know and I want to give up” ; “Don’t tell me that I don’t understand”), though. Her Crest, Sincerity (or Purity, but Sincerity’s always made more sense to me ANYWAY-), has helped her overcome this struggle bit by bit. You can see that in these lines:
“I want someone to live for” “I want to live by moving forward one step at a time without fear”
What I love about Mimi is that even though, on the surface, she keeps the superficiality, we know that she has always been in the process of becoming more genuine with others. She is the star of her own life, sure, but she knows she can’t do things alone. Now, she’s capable of apologizing for her own actions (”I’m so sorry for hurting you”), expressing love for those important to her (”I’m so glad to have met you”), and even accepting her own shortcomings (”Whether or not I realize how much of a miracle it is”). She’s grown a lot, and thanks to the reboot, we get to see her grow even more.
Jou/Joe ; I can’t
How much can I scream at one character?
Joe will always be the pessimist. There’s really no way he can’t be. He’ll always be the one to put other things before Digital World affairs, and that’s okay. He has priorities, just like we all do. Sometimes, I prioritize anime over sleep, and THAT’S OKAY TOO (unhealthy as it is).
We don’t necessarily see it in the series (even in Tri, it’s not expanded upon too heavily), but Joe does feel an incredible amount of guilt for not being there with the others on a constant basis. “Why can’t I just make up my mind?” ; “I wish I could make an excuse and pass like always / I feel like you will leave if I do…” ; “I’m not confident enough to do anything” are just a few lines that express his guilt/struggle with himself over this “abandonment” of his friends.
However, Joe does want to change. We see that clear as day in Tri and even in this song: “I sincerely want the strength to protect you too”. Gomamon is hella different from Joe, but that doesn’t stop them from loving each other. Gomamon will always be the one to bring him back, whether he wants him to or not. That is the power of the Joe/Gomamon team. Joe may not have faith in himself, but he’ll always have faith in Gomamon, and Gomamon will always feel the same about Joe.
“I don’t look back on the past I want us to keep living together like before I’m so glad to have met you I think I can be someone who speaks his heart I can’t help thinking of you all the time…”
Maybe Joe can fail the others, but he can never truly fail Gomamon.
Takeru/T.K. ; Kibou no Tsubasa
When did T.K. become this cutie pie with the fedora? WHEN. (I know when, don’t mind me.)
Similar to Sora, T.K. has always tried to be optimistic about things. But similar to Mimi, his comes out in this very idol-ish way.
This song is most definitely for Patamon, who has always been the cutest Digimon (to me, at least). T.K. and Patamon have always been close, and Patamon will always be incredibly important to him (”What is important to me is right here / Your smiling face here with me; I love you”). Ever since Devimon, T.K.’s protective streak with Patamon has been intense. We see that in 02, and we see it in Tri when Patamon gets Infected.
“I want to protect you forever and ever I wish I could capture your innocence I want to evolve from when I was a crybaby”
Even when T.K. grows up and knows that Patamon is technically the one to protect him, he wants to protect him. The T.K./Patamon dynamic is incredible in ways I can’t talk about without crying. They’re so fantastic, and the love they have for each other is beautiful to behold. No wonder T.K. says,
“I won’t lose you ever again”
Hikari/Kari ; Ring
Everything about Kari has always been hard for me to understand, and this song is no exception. (She has such a complex role, like damn.)
Like the others, this song is a message to her Digimon, but it’s a little less sentimental than we would normally expect from Kari. I think, for the most part, she reflects on her role as a DigiDestined and her dreams for peace between Digimon and humans. However, there is also her expressing how much she loves Gatomon: “My heart fears losing you as I wait for tomorrow.”
Kari’s always had a bit of an old soul. Even when she’s made of pure innocence, a part of her has always accepted the hard facts of life with grace. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t dwell too much on her fear of losing Gatomon. Obviously, she was completely shattered when it happened in Tri (indirectly), but that was probably because of the method by which it happened and her role in it.
I think the most powerful part of the song lies near the end, mostly because of its direct reference to Tri itself:
“Even if you have forgotten everything A sense of nostalgia will find you”
Kari will not be the last to reference the Digimon losing their memories, but the fact that she so casually brings up the hopefulness she felt in having Gatomon remember her again is so powerful. It speaks to the bond every pair of Digimon and humans have. And that is exactly what Kari’s always around for: demonstrating that bond.
Meiko ; Mebaeta Tsuyosa
Meiko’s song gives us the Meicoomon narrative in music format, and I actually really like it. This song speaks of the bond these two felt and how difficult Meiko finds it that her beloved partner has such an antagonistic role. It’s not the most positive of songs, but it does speak to the “I’d do anything for you” type of bond we see in just about every pair in this series.
“I felt like I knew everything about you, But the reality I knew has collapsed now”
Meiko had no way of knowing things would turn out the way they did, but she still felt an incredible guilt for something she did not cause at all. Though Meicoomon causes her plenty of pain (”You’ve given me courage, but also darkness”), Meiko cannot simply let go of the bond they have (”It will always be you and me / No matter what fate we are given”). In a way, it’s like a reverse Ken/Wormmon type of relationship.
It’s really too bad Meiko gets the flack she does for her role in this series. I found something rather relatable in her, and I liked her dynamic with Mimi especially. Her bond with Meicoomon is one that the rest of the DigiDestined related to, and that was why they wanted to help her. The bond between the two Mei’s isn’t something to sneeze at; it’s quite beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. This song puts that bond into more perspective.
“I’m sure the bond between us will never change Only I can quietly tell you that now forever”
Digimon Compilation
Agumon ; Agumon SUNba
There is absolutely nothing sentimental about this song and it remains perfect in every way.
Agumon! The ever hungry dinosaur! What better song for him to have than one where he talks about how hungry he is!
I love this song for how purely Agumon it is. We see how Tai has to deal with how hungry his partner is, while also seeing a sillier side to the little dinosaur that I, for one, love to joke about.
Not everything in Digimon needs to have a heavier undertone, and Agumon here just proves it.
Gabumon ; Kimi ni Totte
We see a lot of Matt’s perspective on things, but sometimes, we don’t hear enough of Gabumon. Personally, I think this song gives us all the perspective we need on the Gabu/Matt front. Like damn.
Gabumon has seen a lot of sides to Matt. He is witness to a lot of Matt’s softer and gentler moments, which is always fantastic to see. Although Matt without his harder outer shell wouldn’t be Matt, there’s a part of Gabumon that hopes he continues being gentle and kind in his own little way (”I want your gentle sound to continue, always”).
What I like about this song is that’s it’s a direct response to Matt’s “Don’t say goodbye” - he directly says “This is not goodbye,” which I’m sure Gabumon knows is the exact phrase Matt is looking for. Matt wants to know that Gabumon won’t leave him, and Gabumon makes sure to tell him that that will never happen.
Matt will always try to keep to himself, even though he trusts Gabumon (”Though you wouldn’t tell me how lonely you were”). Gabumon sees this, and while he accepts it, he wants Matt to know that they’re still a team (”I want to be able to run anywhere you will let me”).
Like Kari, Gabumon makes a very blatant reference to the memory loss that still makes me cry a bit:
“If you ever happen to forget everything about me I promise I will meet you again”
OKAY, GABUMON. MAKE ME CRY. IT’S FINE.
Gabumon has always been a calming force, but it’s nice to see him exhibit such strong emotions in regards to his partner. We know he has them, but it’s nice nonetheless. And of course he says “I need you” at the end of the song, which is the same thing Matt said. Even though they express their emotions differently, Matt and Gabumon have such an intense connection to each other, and they acknowledge without pause how much they need each other in their lives. They are a powerful force, even in music.
Piyomon/Biyomon ; Heart wo Sagase
Am I surprised that both Sora and Biyomon make reference to the sky and rainbows in their songs? Of course not. That’s just their way.
Both songs relay a search for “something,” whether it’s the “land of dreams” or “the heart”. Biyomon has a lot less sentimentality, but then, Biyomon has never been one to dwell on the sad side of their relationship. She’s always been a little more positive than even Sora, and we see that here.
Still, Biyomon does mention their connection (”Let’s hold hands to stick together”), and, in general, it’s a sweet song that embodies Biyomon’s heart. Which explains a lot, since the song is called “Search for the Heart.”
I don’t have much to say about this song, but I will admit, at first hear, I thought it was Sora singing and not Biyomon. Very interesting.
Tentomon ; Kioku no Kakera -Tentomon Side-
What I love about this song is that Tentomon isn’t really singing in the traditional sense. But then, he doesn’t need to.
This entire song is dedicated to Izzy. It tells us just how concerned Tentomon is for Izzy and his hardworking ways. He spends an entire verse telling Izzy to take care of himself, ending it with, “You’re my important partner / It’s natural that I’m worried about you.”
Tentomon has always been more in touch with emotions than Izzy, but he doesn’t fault his partner for it. In fact, it’s what makes them so compatible. He has such faith in Izzy (”Koushiro-han will succeed”), and he doesn’t want Izzy to ever lose faith in himself (”Don’t you see what a great person you are?” ; “It’s no good for you to give up hope”). Their connection truly is special; no wonder I started a side-blog dedicated to Tentomon.
Tentomon is the THIRD character to reference lost memories, which is interesting in an of itself:
“Even if I forget everything I can start over again from the beginning”
I’ve noticed when the Digimon discuss this, they’re very optimistic about their connection with their partner. Kari, meanwhile, was a bit neutral on the topic but still somewhat positive. Very interesting.
Palmon ; Blooming your Heart
Palmon does not directly address Mimi like Tentomon addresses Izzy, but the message remains the same.
Palmon and Mimi’s relationship has always been tinged with more sweetness than the others’, in my eyes. They exist to make each other smile and grow stronger in heart. (”I’ll make you smile more and more, whoa~”) I especially love how Palmon mentions Mimi’s famous hat: “And that ten-gallon hat forever, my heart with you”
Still, there is the presence of comfort between these two. Palmon will always be there for Mimi (”If your pain won’t wither and pain blooms, I’ll be by your side“) and will always treasure her, no matter what. It’s the same for the other Digimon, for sure, but Palmon’s love for Mimi is, somehow, more pure than the others, and that’s what’s lovely about it.
“Because you are my world, my best garden”
Gomamon ; You can
Like Gabumon’s, Gomamon’s song is a direct response to Joe.
Gomamon has always known how different he and Joe are (”We may fight, but we laugh a lot too”), and in some ways, their relationship is rougher than the others - when they argue, it lasts longer than the others arguments with their partners. Yet despite all this, Gomamon understands Joe in a way I don’t think even Joe does. (”But I understand you / You have to go your own way”) Gomamon accepts Joe for who he is; a prime example is this verse here:
“I think that’s just the way you are You have a gentle presence But you only show it to me I don’t mind it being that way”
Even though he understands and loves Joe, Gomamon still expresses frustration at Joe’s hesitance when it comes to involving himself in the various Adventures (”You can, so when are you going to stand up?”). Gomamon knows for a fact Joe can do anything he sets his mind to, but anxiety always holds him back. And therein lies the most important line of the song:
“But I don’t want you to forget that you are not alone”
Gomamon knows he can; Joe says he can’t. In some ways, both are right. But I think Gomamon will always be right to push Joe to step outside and face those fears of his.
Patamon ; Daisuki-ism
This is the absolute cutest song ever. This one and Agumon’s have my heart wrapped around their notes.
I don’t have much to say about this song either, as it’s pretty direct. Patamon loves T.K. a whole damn lot, and this song is such a sweet song dedicated to their relationship.
T.K.’s lucky to have Patamon. He so genuinely loves his partner that he’s not afraid to say it, and he’s not afraid to protect him, no matter the cost.
“When you’re happy you show it with your cheeks You always make me smile Every time you hold me I won’t forget that wonderful feeling”
Tailmon/Gatomon ; Together as one
Gatomon has always been more quietly sentimental about her relationship with Kari, and this song is no different.
Because of the nature of their meeting, Gatomon loves Kari in a very gentle way. They met under trying circumstances, and Kari gave her a love she wasn’t used to. Yet together, they lost someone important (Wizardmon), and from then on, they seemed almost closer than a lot of the other partner pairs.
In fact, unless I’m mistaken, Gatomon makes a reference to Wizardmon in the song: “I miss holding hands with my beloved friend”. This could, of course, be a reference to Kari, but I’d like to think that Gatomon never has Wizardmon far from her mind.
In any case, Gatomon’s song is sentimental in a way Kari’s isn’t, and it’s a nice balance between the two. There’s direct reference to a “light,” which surely means Kari’s Crest (”I can believe in the light” ; “I believe the light will guide us towards a bright future”). Gatomon also mentions a “warmth,” which she feels when she’s around Kari, which makes sense, since Myotismon never gave her any such warmth.
Kari’s song mentions nostalgia; I think, in some ways, she was referring to Gatomon. This song has a very nostalgic feel to it, especially in the last line:
“Let’s go back to the time where we can smile together again”
I think sometimes even Gatomon forgets that she is capable of very strong sentimentality and nostalgia. It’s very nice to see in a show like Digimon.
Meicoomon ; Ura-omote Crossroad
I think what we often forget is how much pain Meicoomon was in throughout Tri. She didn’t want to cause all the trouble and pain that she did; she was not in control. This song gives us insight into her hopelessness and how Meiko was the only thing that could really lead her back to a Digimon version of sanity.
Meiko deeply loved Meicoomon, and Meicoomon felt exactly the same way. They’re a very sweet duo, and while their existence in general is a topic of debate in the Digimon fandom, I think it was very interesting to see. Considering all the original eight were wholly good, and so were their partners (you know, despite past hiccups), it was nice to see one of them purposely being an antagonist in spite of their partner’s alignment.
Anyway. In this song, we see Meicoomon’s struggle to stay true to herself and her relationship with Meiko (”I can’t escape them, but I don’t want to lose you / I can’t separate the light from shadow”) as well as her own inner turmoil with everything happening to her (”What should I do if I’m left here all alone?”).
The true point of this song is that Meicoomon was lost and looking for Meiko during the entirety of Tri. She wanted nothing more than to find her way back to her, but of course, that wasn’t up to her. Meicoomon desires nothing more than to be with Meiko, but those of us who have seen Tri know that she doesn’t get to see that through. Still, she can’t help but say:
“Let’s keep smiling forever”
Tri always gave me a lot of feels, but somehow, Meicoomon gives me more of them than I ever think at first glance. So kudos to Meicoomon for being one of those characters that frustrates me as well as makes me cry.
-------
So this turned out longer than expected, but there it is. Some of these are more tangent-y than I meant, but that’s the way I analyze, I guess. At least I’ve got my thinking cap on, right...?
I highly recommend both “compilations”! I personally listen to “Boku ni Totte”, “Kimi ni Totte”, and “Kibou no Tsubasa” a lot, but I’ve been listening to “Yume no Kanau Basho” a lot lately. “Agumon SUNba” and “Daisuki-ism” are, of course, classics, but the rest are gems in their own right as well!

Thing's that makes me believed that Yameiko should be endgame.
Hello! It's been a long time huh!
First of all, that's my opinion about the digimon series, and it's not my intentions offend anyone. Only thing that i wanted here is just express my opinion and all of us put on a reflection moment about the serie.
It's been a long time that I wanted to talk about this, since that i watched the first Tri movie, but I felt like I was only person that thought that way and my opinion wouldn't be well accepted.
But i see some Yameiko post's, i rebloged then and when i posted photostos or talk about them, people starting liked, and i felt more confortable in post this, even there's a little people talk about them, and i felt that i need to share this and who knew more people posted more about this ship.
So let's get started!
So I'm going to start with this list, with the times when Yamato saved Meiko's life. That's the part more evident in this ship.
Since i watch first move of digimon tri, there's only thing that kept me whatch all serie, i mean, there was two people that makes me watch the whole serie, Yamato and Meiko.
Why? Beacause the first interaction betwen them it was so intense and effective that it made me wonder if this wasn't something to keep an eye on them, for some possible development in the future.
They were also developing Koumi and, as far as I imagine, the first part it was to introduce us to the story that was being told. This also applies to any story being told.
Anyway! Let's go to the scenes.
The first scene them together, without anyone of the group, it was a scene that yamato saves Meiko, in a moment very vulnerable for her in the first Tri movie.
I don't think Yamato in that moment saved her because she is someone importat to him, but he does because she needed help and we know he have these protect instinct when he’s see someone in danger.
But ask yourself, do you think that other times that his saved her life, it was only for because she was in danger?
For example, the way he screams because he is forced to accept that Meicoomon needs to die, and when he ran to stop Meiko (when she went after the meicrackmon) and wold end up killing herself along with meicoomon, he doesn't think twice before running up to her (as Taichi did and, he only did because Yamato ran after Meiko).
Do you think that there's not something more behind, and what could be?
And if you were Meiko in these situations, do you couldn't feeling something for your savior? ...
I think this may be possible had some feelings for each other in a life-or-death situation. Because it brings good feelings of comfort, safety and protection.
See how in this scene it’s seems like them try to come closer to each other
Or in this scene when Yamato say to her don't apologizes for what happening with Taich and move on.
You didn't find it weird the Meiko’s reaction when she find that Yamato is Takeru’s brother?
What If she does that expression because she started know more about Yamato, the one who saved her life and, and she felt grateful to him, and the guy who was more close to her until then (Takeru) it was your brother?
See how Takeru be impressed with this?
Probably he getting something behind the Meiko's expression. He knows better than everyone in the group how treat a girl, and how she could feellt and there’s a lot of scenes that could prove that.
And don't you think it's strange the way Yamato gets introspective in this second film?
Okay... We know it's because he and Taich weren't well, but is there the only reason he's a recluse?
Did you see this scene when Meiko talked about Meicoomon to the girls, and said that her digimon never evolved before?
Yamato had his back to her and when she says so, it soon shows him leaving the table where the guys were sitting and Nishijima looking at him with his face that he didn't understand what was going on.
That doesn't seem like nothing important, but why put this part in this scene? There any meaning behind it?
What if he was introspective and watched her and tried to get to know her better and how would she act with the rest of the group, at the same time he was still mad at Taich?
I think it might be possible because no one knew much about her, and he saved her and of course he'd keep an eye on her after that.
I started thinking that way when I realized how Takeru at the beginning of the second film, he was very attentive to what Meiko was doing, like trying to make her more comfortable with the group, when he saw her talking to Himekawa or when he was asking questions in front of everyone in the group.
(Oh! See this reference that she lived in a city in the city where Yamato and Takeru's grandmother lived).
It may sound crazy, but what if Yamato and Takeru were suspicious of something and were wondering how Meiko ended up getting into this whole situation?
No one would suspect Takeru's behavior, since he was always a very kind guy and Yamato was always a more observant and reserved guy and both could draw their own conclusions in different ways.
And I think everyone agrees that Yamato would be able to do this kind of thing, like when he went to meet Himekawa and Nishijima to learn more about the Meicoomon’s investigation.
i know this scene would be less important to defended this ship.
Anyway i still think this scene is very weird don’t you?
Now let's talk about how much he's worried about her and her feelings and always put her in the group as a member.
It’s so cute that scene!!
The second time he saves her, she still wants to run after meicoomon to try to stop her, he stopped her immediately and say don't do it because she could get hurt and Meicoomon would become more unstable.
Okay again it looks like he's protective instincts, but I could believe it if he'd done it a few times. but if you put other times that he done that, it seems something more envolved.
for example see this scene when Meiko comeback to school after days without talk with anyone in the thirth Tri movie?
This scene call’s my attention for only two things:
Did you see the way Yamato talk to her and how Mimi call him?
Tundra (or correct term tsundere) is a Japanese proverb, used to describe someone who hides his good feellings by someone being rude to that person ( as like Yamato did in this scene). Usually this term is used in shoujo mangas or animes to develop a couple.
So ... why put this if there's not meaning behind that?
We know how Yamato it’s a person who hide he’s feelings and can’t get express them. So ... it’s could be possible that Mimi, Taich and Sora say the truth in this scene.
But there’s much more!
This scene is very curious to analyze. For us who were watching, we knew that Takeru wasn't thinking about Meiko in the first place when he said that, but in Patamon who was infected.
But look at that curious, Yamato looks directly at Meiko, thinking that his brother was referring to her, he apologizes and is sad to have been insensitive.
But look what's more curious this, at first Yamato wouldn't bother to defeat the digimons if they were infected, but when it happened and Raguelmon had to be defeated, he had that reaction.
This act for me has more meaning than any words.
Yamato is one of those who scolds Joe for talking like that of The Meicoomon, because he knew how it affected Meiko.
Now let’s talk about the cave scene! ... Meiko’s talk about your insecurites about meicoomon and your friedns try to say her to don’t give up to Meicoomon and don’t close yourself and share with them all your problems and ...
Only people talk to her to comfort and were Taich, Hikari, Sora, Mimi and Yamato, and the Yamato's words, there's more impact than any other said before.
And remember how the trailer made us thought that was Yamato holding Meiko’s hand?
And it’s not only time that he does that!
This scene is so interesting. Look how mad Yamato seems for not being able to say the right thing for her. He tries so hard to say that she and Meicoomon are not undesirable and felt part of group.
And his not your first time do this.
In this scene Taichi, Yamato and Joe were talking about Meicoomon and Taich doubts whether they would be able to save Meicoomon. Yamato doesn't think twice before saying that both are part of group and leaves the place very mad.
It is curious to see how Taichi did not seem very sure that Meicoomon had salvation, but Yamato was willing to do anything to help because Meiko and Meicoomon were part of the group.
And don't forget Yamato's reaction when he sees Taichi raising Meiko and how he seemed to want to cut that scene quickly by telling them to move on.
You think this scene he wasn't feeling at all about seeing both together?
These scenes It made me think that this kind of behavior is not typical of someone introspective like Yamato.
And why does he have such an intense feeling if he's met Meiko a couple days ago, is there something more than partner or friends?
A random curiosity!
Do you realize that in the scene where the digimons recover their memories, Meicoomon appears discreetly in only in Gabumon's and Palmon's memories?
This may sound silly, but if the digimons have a strong connection with their partners, they sure know what's going on in their hearts, and Gabumon knew that saving Meicoomon was important to Yamato, but why?
Did he have any hidden feelings that only Gabumon knew?
And last! Did you notice that the boku ni totte song the lyrics fit perfectly with Meiko and everything she went through?
Okay! ... know the song has another meaning, but doesn't that mean she can't have another interpretation either, right?
If you take the lyrics song sung by Yamato's Japanese voice actor. The lyrics speaks of a very vulnerable moment and this person says he wants to be strong enought to protect someone and Yamato has a very great protective instinct for Meiko as we saw earlier.
In the chorus it says things like "You say good bye!" and “Don’t say goodbye” At the end of Tri Meiko left everyone for returned to Tottori.
In addition parts of the song the lyrics say how the person who is leaving is irreplaceable for him, and as i said earlier, Yamato always tried to comfort Meiko by saying that she was part of the group.
Now it's coincidence or there's a deep meaning behind?
See for yourself!
I'm not trying to say that my opinion is the only truth, only the producers and writers behind of the series can answer that, but with all this evidence, wouldn't that be more than enough not to underestimate them?
I hope see more Yameiko's fans here, even them not being canon in the future, because i think them deservered a especial attention in the fanbase for your "development" as a possible couple.
I hope you like it, and if you could, comment too, even if you don't agree with me, as long you argument be respectfull.

Episode 22 - The Saddest Episode of Adventure? (Not Clickbait)
Oh boy is there so much to unpack in episode 22. This episode is a lot. If you’d like to witness someone scream about just how much of a lot episode 22 is, then welcome. I have some screaming to do.
(this is literally just a recap of the entire episode and I’m pretty terrible at analysis so this probably makes no sense but hey, I have spirit)
I don’t even know where to start there’s just so much going on here. Okay, from the beginning. Taichi gets back to the digital world and finds Tokomon passed out from hunger with Takeru’s discarded digivice and crest. Obviously some shit went down, and Tokomon is nice enough to explain.
Through this, we find out that Taichi and Agumon have been missing for at least a month and a half, which is where Tokomon’s flash back explanation starts, and that the kids stayed in the desert looking for Taichi for this month and a half. We see the group arguing over what they should do next. Sora wants to keep looking, Yamato thinks it’s hopeless, Koushiro wants to find Gennai, Mimi wants to go home, and Joe doesn’t actually say what he wants. (In the next episode it’s revealed he went to look for food before being led astray by PicoDevimon, but in the context of this episode he just kind of goes). But anyway, important thing to point out here is:
the saddest images I’ve ever seen in my life. Takeru is sitting off by himself, which may make sense while they’re having big kid talk and he stays warm next to the fire, but he also sleeps by himself while the rest of them are all huddled together. Also to note is that Takeru and Yamato are on the complete opposite ends. Here we can see how disconnected Takeru is from the rest of the kids, including his brother. This’ll be important later, but let’s put a pin in it for now.
Here is where the group falls apart, with Sora heading off on her own first. She lets Tokomon know that her and Piyomon are off to look for Taichi, to try to keep Takeru from crying if she doesn’t tell him.
(A month and a half in this desert, by the way). Koushiro heads off first, followed by Joe, and finally Mimi, leaving the brothers and their Digimon as the only ones left together. Once it’s just them, they finally leave the desert. We also learn that during this time they haven’t encountered any new enemies. Takeru wants to go back into the desert and look for Taichi.
But as we already know, Yamato has given up. You can’t blame him either, how long are they expected to just wait in a desert? Of course, Takeru cries, and Yamato instantly apologizes, and says that Taichi and Agumon are probably doing fine somewhere.
I’m telling you, this is some heavy shit. Yamato agrees, and says they’ll see them again someday. If he really means that, or is just saying that to keep Takeru happy is another matter, and probably something Yamato is conflicted on himself. Regardless, they continue on, and come across an amusement park. Yamato thinks to himself that it looks safe, and they explore the deserted park. And here is where things take a turn.
We see Takeru holding back tears before saying that he’ll be okay, and will wait.
He asks Yamato to come back quickly, as Yamato has decided to go check things out in the infamous swan boat, planning to only be gone for two to three hours. Now, it’s easy to judge Yamato a bit for leaving Takeru alone in the first place, he could have taken Takeru with him, but Yamato needing some time alone to think things over without upsetting Takeru would make sense. I wouldn’t judge him for that, can relate, but it’s unfortunate how it ultimately turns out. In any case, Takeru insists that Yamato come back quickly, and waves him off with a smile. Once Yamato is out of sight though . . .
And my heart breaks again. This boy is too good at hiding his feelings when it’s something that deeply hurts him. But that’s a long rant for another day. For now, unfortunately, Yamato does not end up coming back. Takeru waits until nightfall, and refuses to eat, before eventually falling asleep on a bench next to the wharf Yamato set off from.
Please my heart can only shatter so many times. Takeru continues to wait on the wharf, wondering why his brother won’t come back. He said he was just going to take a look around. He said he’d be back soon!
Takeru reaches his limit and breaks down. But unfortunately, it’s not over yet. A certain bat shaped Digimon decides that this small sweet boy isn’t broken enough yet. He approaches them, pretends to have good intentions, thanks them for being involved in defeating Etemon, and offers to go look for Yamato. No good intentions can be found in PicoDevimon, and he comes back to spout some dirty dirty lies.
“Yamato said that he doesn’t want to see your face anymore. He said that he really, really, really hates you. He doesn’t want to be your brother anymore.”
“Oh, Yamato also said this. He really hates you for being a crybaby.”
This is too much for Takeru, and he runs off in tears.
Tokomon of course tries to tell Takeru that Yamato would never say anything like that. But Takeru is in no state to listen right now.
I’m not even halfway through the episode oh god. Tokomon runs off to confront PicoDevimon about being a lying little bitch, but he of course denies it, since Tokomon has no proof. Tokomon is pissed, and hits PicoDevimon with his baby bubbles. Unfortunately, Takeru chooses this moment to arrive on the scene, and he’s an anti-fight boy.
PicoDevimon sees his chance to cause a rift between the two, and says not to blame Tokomon, he was jealous that him and Takeru had been getting along. Tokomon scoffs at this, causing Takeru to get mad at Tokomon’s attitude, and tells him to apologize to PicoDevimon. Tokomon refuses, they argue, and Tokomon claims that he’ll leave if Takeru keeps trying to force him to apologize. So, Takeru tells him to go ahead and leave.
Tokomon gives Takeru the chance to change his mind, but Takeru is hurt, extremely hurt, and is taking it out on Tokomon.
And this is where the flashback ends, and we’re back to Taichi. Taichi is worried about Yamato, he knows that Yamato would never willingly abandon his little brother, but finding Takeru comes first. Meanwhile, Takeru is spending a very depressing time in the amusement park with PicoDevimon. PicoDevimon is trying to get Takeru to forget about Tokomon using the rides, but it’s not working out for him.
Yeah, Takeru’s not in the mood for fun. PicoDevimon asks if Takeru is worried about Tokomon. At first, Takeru says who cares, but follows it up with wondering if Tokomon is okay by himself . . . . but he really doesn’t care about him at all. PicoDevimon sees through the tsundere act, knows he needs a new plan, and heads off to regroup, leaving Takeru alone.
He deals with this by sleeping (relatable), and this is where Taichi finds him. The first thing Takeru says to Taichi is “Taichi! You’re alive!” and it’s just really heartbreaking that these kids had to seriously consider the fact that Taichi could be dead. They don’t dwell on it much in the show, but it’s pretty dang dark.
A rare non-Yamato related hug from Takeru. Taichi apologizes for making Takeru worried. Takeru notices that Tokomon is back, and ruins the happy mood by asking Tokomon if he realizes he was wrong now. Tokomon angrily replies that he did nothing wrong, which is true. And the arguing starts again.
They really are kids. Imagine Angemon having this argument. This time, Taichi is here to break it up and tells them this isn’t the time to fight since they should go look for Yamato and other others. But Takeru doesn’t want to. Everyone left him. First Sora.
Can you here those screams in the distance? That’s me. Takeru has taken PicoDevimon’s words about how Yamato, and has applied them to everyone else too. Why?
Because he had already had those types of thoughts himself. PicoDevimon was voicing his worst suspicions. Whether they did it intentionally or not, we can clearly see that there was some excluding of Takeru going on. We don’t get to see what happens during this month and a half, so unfortunately the why is unknown. Maybe because their conversations are more serious in general and they don’t want to deal with Takeru crying. If he was crying often, maybe some resentment/annoyance was growing. Or maybe Takeru himself was distancing himself. However it happened, negative feelings were brewing, and being a kid sensitive to separation, everyone leaving would enhance those negative thoughts. PicoDevimon’s lie has grown from Yamato hates me, to everyone hates me. And that makes my heart hurt.
Taichi tries to counter this by saying that there was no way Yamato could ever hate him (which is true, but mention the others too Taichi!). And here’s where Takeru says something veeery interesting.
(episode 3, directed at Taichi)
It’s like they say, kids are more perceptive that they’re given credit for. Takeru isn’t exactly wrong about this, but he goes a bit overboard, and connects it with Yamato being against searching for Taichi when Takeru wanted to, and then adds an extra reason for why Yamato hates him.
Taichi is not equipped to deal with this. Takeru’s thoughts are really spiraling at this point, all centered around how everyone hates him and why. Let’s not consider him potentially thinking that his dad and brother left because they hate him. It’s a good thing Yamato isn’t here to see this, because Takeru claims he wants to be Taichi’s little brother instead.
That’s an understatement, Taichi. Taichi is currently the only person Takeru has who he doesn’t think hates him, so of course he’s going to latch onto him. Taichi is essentially the fun friend and Yamato is the strict brother. It doesn’t help that since the brothers don’t get to spend a lot of time together, there’s some awkwardness in their relationship, mostly from Yamato. There’s some awkwardness from Yamato just in general. He completely adores Takeru, but isn’t always great at showing that in ways Takeru can understand.
We don’t get to see the in-between of this conversation, but Taichi is able to calm Takeru down and coax him into agreeing to at least hearing what Yamato has to say in person. Things are going well, but of course liar mc-lying bat shows back up with a bunch of memory erasing mushrooms. Like he hasn’t caused enough damage. PicoDevimon tries to start an argument with Tokomon, but Agumon interrupts to ask about Yamato. PicoDevimon doubles down on his claims, because he sucks, and Taichi asks to be taken to where Yamato is.
PicoDevimon agrees, but offers them some of his sketchy mushrooms to eat before they head off. He’s just the worst. Everyone is hungry, apparently hungry enough for some sketch mushrooms, but Agumon needs a convenient bathroom break where a mysterious voice that sounds a lot like Sora warns him that the mushrooms erase memories. So convenient!
Thank god Takeru tried to eat the mushroom whole without biting into it. Phew. When Agumon reveals with the mushrooms do, Takeru finally gets suspicious. (Why no one is suspicious about PicoDevimon from his name alone I’ll never know. Shouldn’t the whole Devimon part set off some alarm bells?)
Panicked and with his cover blown, PicoDevimon admits to everything being a lie.
It sure is buddy. Takeru apologizes to Tokomon right away for treating him so horribly, but of course Tokomon tells him not to worry about it and isn’t angry at all. It’s like Takeru said in episode 12, fighting between friends is okay, because you’ll make up soon. But fighting between adults . . .
With the partners friends again, Taichi gives Takeru his digivice and crest back. Thanks to the reveal with PicoDevimon was lying, Takeru has restored some hope that maybe everyone doesn’t hate him after all.
This is enough for the Crest of Hope to regain its light (what a tease considering it won’t be properly activated for 30 more episodes). And here we see a first for Takeru. He actually wants to fight.
This is the same boy who initially wanted to try to talk it out with Devimon first, so this is a big shift for him. PicoDevimon 100% deserves it, but it’s sad to see how he’s losing his innocence. But it means the return of Patamon! Hurray! Making his battle debut, since this marks the first time Patamon is in a proper battle on his own (the Elecmon battle was half a fight that turned into tug of war).
. . . it could be better. Patamon really gets slammed all over the place. It’s surprisingly violent. But with Takeru cheering him on, Patamon is able to ultimately win (unfortunately PicoDevimon doesn’t die, we’re stuck with this asshole for awhile).
Takeru once again apologizes for what’s happened, but Patamon is a pure precious bean so everything’s okay.
Takeru also says he needs to apologize to Yamato later too, though if Yamato knew the full details of what happened here he’d freak as much as I have. The episode ends with Taichi explaining that the distortions in the Digital World are affecting the real world, and that they’ll need everyone’s strengths to fix it before they can go home.
And with that weight on Takeru’s shoulders, the episode finally ends.
Phew, that’s a rough one. There are so many insights into Takeru’s character here, but I don’t want to get too much into all that until the rewatch is finished and I can look at the whole package.
Does anyone else internally scream when they think about this episode? Or am I just losing my mind? Let me know.

Day 1&2: Daughter / Son
Hello! My original intention was to post some drabbles or Oneshot for Epilogue Celebration but I still have school and exam and can't finish it on time ( Yes it still not canceled despite the numerous cases in my country, stay safe everyone !) so I decided to post some headcanons instead.
Joe Son:
-He picks up Gomamon's sense of humor since he was pretty attached to the Seal Digimon much to Joe's dismay. -He the first in the family that does not follow the family tradition of being a doctor from the beginning and Joe fully support his decision -He is similar to Joe, faint at the sight of blood... bad singing ... but one difference is that he doesn't put Salt & Pepper in his egg -He had a strong interest in computers and learn from Koushiro, a fact Koushiro is glad for since his daughter didn't have that much of an interest in technology. -He often the target of Takeru Son prank. It escalated into a prank war when he retaliated
Sora and Yamato Son:
-He good friend with Taichi son but like Yamato and Taichi, they argue often and Sora can’t believe that she had another pair of boys to handle. One is more than enough -Yamato often dresses him up in wolves design clothing when he was young and he likes to pretend to be Gabumon. Gabumon Costume for Halloween is a must too -He likes to cloud watch with Piyomon -He good at drawing and often doodle with Sora when she designing -He gets flustered by girl easily but is still pretty much surrounded by them, Yamato insist is cause he inherited his dad good look
Daughter:
-Her first word is “Dada”, also happens to be a daddy girl. She knows how to manipulate Yamato and Sora had to keep telling him not to fall for her sweet girl act -Mimi like to dress her up( since she had no daughter of her own) and she can’t escape from it -She has a crush on Taichi Son and Yamato hate it when Taichi keeps referring her as his future Daughter-In-law. Taichi and the rest actually had a bet if they would get together -She loves sport and music and often plays her newly thought out tune for Gabumon -She loves riding on Birdramon and often pestered Sora about it when her own partner can’t evolves yet.
Taichi Son:
-He a natural at soccer! But Takeru introduces him to basketball and he enjoyed it too! Every day, Taichi waited with bated breath to see which sport he will join -He taught Agumon to play basketball but gave up when the sharp claw tear through at least a dozen of it -He popular with girls too but no one approaches him as many assume he and Sorato daughter are together. He often wonders why he still single, what did he do wrong? -Sora often told him that he lucky he didn’t inherit Taichi IQ and is smarter than his father -He the only one who loves Mimi strange creation and actually ask for more
Hikari Son:
-He probably the most polite and well manner of the bunch due to Hikari being a teacher -He soft-spoken and naïve, often took advantage of, lucky he had others to look out for him. The baby of the group -He and Tailmon like to take naps together -Joe and Koushiro gift him a camera for his birthday one year and he never goes anywhere without it. All the others Instagram post are taken by him - He one of the youngest but when it comes to academic, he really smart and like to geek out with Koushiro daughter
Mimi Son:
-He never inherits Mimi taste bud and could never figure out the beauty of fried rice with whip cream & strawberry -He not close to the other children at first as he grows up in America but moved to Japan when he older -He can be very open, blunt and cool. Because of this, He had a hard time fitting into Japan more reserve and tradition culture (eg: he hug the rest when he first meets them ) -He knows what plant is safe to eat and what is not safe because of Palmon and had a small cactus in his bedroom -He has a habit of pretending not to know Japanese when he feels it better for the situation. Another habit is going into full English when frustrated or when he insults others.
Koushiro Daughter:
-She learns how to pick up the important point from Koushiro rumbling from a young age -She a young genius like Koushiro and good in technology but never had an interest in computers. Her main interest is science -She clashes the most with Mimi son at first and find him rude but later become his closest friend -She learns Kansai Dialect from Tentomon -She takes pride in beating the other boys in video game
Takeru Son:
-He learns about his dad crush on Hikari when they were still kids and always tease Takeru about it -He received a hat from Hikari as a joke and he always wore it out since then -He learns guitar from Yamato. His first owned guitar is gifted by Yamato -He and Patamon are the Prank Duo -He was forced to learn soccer by Taichi who insist it only fair and actually enjoy it, he and Taichi son are debating which team to join together

What are some characters you wished interacted more in Adventure/02? I always wanted to see more Joe/taichi (because wow they both have some shit regarding responsibility) and sora/koushiro! Also in 02 I wanted more sibling moments between the Yagami and Ishida/Takeshi siblings :’)
Immediately Sora/Kou and Joe/Taichi jumped into my head before I even finished reading so like same
Your icon is super cute btw!!
Sorry if all of this is a mess apparently if you give me a platform I just spout nonsense about digimon for days lmaoo
TL;DR: Sora/Kou, Joe/Taichi, Mimi/Yamato, the siblings but with maybe some closure to the Yagamis on some level if that makes sense at all
I feel like Sora and Koushirou were the two characters who believed in Taichi the most and really stuck by him, and supposedly knew each other before the digital world, but it’s honestly hard to recall any scenes where they acted incredibly close to each other? I know she defended him when Taichi was teasing Koushirou and trying to whack his computer and they also shared their opinions on Taichi during the Skullgreymon issue. There might be some scenes, but I’m honestly blanking. Yet I can think of specific examples for Taichi and Koushirou and Taichi and Sora off the top of my head (the gate episode for the former and Taichi saving Sora from nanomon). So maybe the series didn’t mean for them to be very close friends (I think there’s a chart and they aren’t shown with arrows between each other), but I always felt like they would mesh well together even if their main reason was just to bond over Taichi. But I think Sora has shown and would be open to just listening to Koushirou and encouraging him and I think Sora is mellow enough for Koushirou to be comfortable around. I actually kind of wish Sora and Koushirou had gone together in Adventure to look for Taichi because it seemed important to both of them, though I get narratively why they wanted everyone to split up. I kind of wish there was just more Sora, Taichi, and Koushirou being tight-knit overall and something more of an overt trio, since again they were the one’s who already knew each other more closely iirc.
I agree on the Joe and Taichi bit, too. I think there could have maybe been a few more instances where Taichi, well, relied on him and the two kind of commiserated about everything. Joe clearly had a lot of worry for the team and was willing to like risk his own life for Takeru and stay beside Mimi a few times because as her counselor he felt responsible and Taichi had a lot of baggage trying to do right by everyone all the time and wanting to be The Very Best and it felt like sometimes he could kind of feel the heaviness of it especially when Hikari came in; it just felt like they should have a late night therapy session together and there could have been some times when Taichi turned to Joe for some advice. If there was more than once I don’t really remember it right now? I know Taichi had a support pillar in Koushirou and Sora and Yamato at some point, but I honestly think it would have been nice to sprinkle in more of Joe there, and maybe have Joe even gain more confidence in his role in the team to just put his hand on Taichi’s shoulders and say, “Take a break,” but instead it always felt like he micro helped, which I guess was big, but idk Taichi should have his mom bake Joe a cake just to say he’s swell. But I also think it would be nice if Taichi could be a pillar back in kind. I don’t really remember if anyone was specifically there to support Joe back when I think about it except maybe Sora when she helped at the diner arc?? I also think this would have been nicer to explore in 02 and have Joe help herd some of the new youngsters more, but it kind of felt like by Our War Game Joe was a little more… not around? Was always kind of weird to me that the “reliable” one was never around. I know his crest in some iterations is honesty or sincerity, so maybe that’s why haha, but he did always come off as trying to be reliable, so I always fall back on that.
Also Mimi and Yamato would have been interesting to see…. interact at all?? I think in the novels he makes her cry at one point iirc and there was the scene at the graves of the fallen digimon, but I can’t recall any other impactful scenes where they straight on interact?? I feel like the scene where Sora breaks down and Yamato is pretty understanding could have also translated into some scenes with Mimi, like he could go from being annoyed by her and agitated to accepting her strengths and maybe through her find that being more emotional isn’t always a weakness, idk. I also remember Yamato once grilled a fish and so I always thought he’d end up being the cook of the group down the line so when it was Mimi in the epilogue I would kind of imagine her having him on her show for a segment, like cooking in rough conditions or something and talk about the food he eats in space idk it was a weird thing that stuck with me as a kid and it’s hard to kind of forget…
Overall with 02 I really wish there was just more of the original cast and they expanded their relationships from 01. Maybe not get rid of the new 02 cast members because I do really love them, but just integrate the original digidestined in more. I get that it’s hard to balance a large cast, though, so I get why they didn’t. I really feel like Sora, Joe, and Mimi just got forgotten about in the full narrative, though. I also would have still liked more relationship building between like the siblings as you said as well. Family was a pretty integral part of the original series in many ways and while they did seem to kind of bring it back in the ending iirc, there was a HUGE emphasis on the sibling dynamics in 01 I felt was kind of dropped by 02. Like it was even written in a prophecy?? I will admit my memory of 02 is fuzzy and due for a rewatch but I recall Hikari getting something of a developing episode re: her attachment to Taichi or some comparison she was making towards him about herself that I don’t remember, but I’m pretty sure he like… had no part in it really? I think even the dub just was like, “Let’s not even write in that issue.” I could be wrong on that, though. It just felt like Taichi was more distant than he had been at the end of 01 and maybe that’s just age and he grew up, but I still feel like it needed a resolution and he could have either had residual fears or at least have a “letting go” episode maybe so they could both grow together or something for the audience to bare. I felt like if anything Taichi and Hikari’s arc should have ended with him trusting her more and I guess he kind of does since he leaves the fighting to the new kids on the block but it was more like… he gave the responsibility to Daisuke (not a bad choice, this is nothing about Daisuke ofc). It just would have been more full circle imho if he maybe gave Hikari the goggles or something— like she didn’t have to be the leader I guess but it would have been kind of symbolic of him seeing her as strong finally and acknowledging her, you know? That’s probably a different road entirely haha Hikari and Taichi just had a really sweet bond in 01 so I remember it being a little jarring when I watched 02. I can’t remember much about Takeru and Yamato together either so :(
I think they balanced a lot of relationships and backstories and a huge complicated plot pretty well in general just overall and they made the characters so goood but I guess that’s on my essay on some of the things I would change re: their relationships i’msosorry
#this is long I'm sorry there is a tldr to ignore the rest#grimtactician#I'm sorry if it's all nonsensical#Ahh and if you have anything to add/disagree with feel free#I always find opinions/other ideas interesting!!#I can also delete if you preferred in private!#Digimon is a Fun Series

[10- Emergencial Reunion!!]
“You said it was an emergency so you have to be straight and tell us what’s going on.”
Iori didn’t want to sound rude, but considering everyone at this point is full of work to do, like Joe having many appointments with hurt or sick digimon as example.
“It’s about him” Ken said with a serious tone.
Everyone stopped talking or complaining, creating a heavy and uncomfortable atmosphere in the room. It wasn’t like they had given up on Daisuke, and yes that they had no clues to solve that issue. Taichi had gotten no time to search for him, and had given a lot of excuses to the media to keep everything under control. If not… How would’ve Taichi explain that without revealing that Daisuke is one of the DigiChosen?
“What did you get?” Miyako broke the silence, yet her voice was cold. They were talking about her husband after all.
“We never learned what happened to him” Ken began, “Two years ago, we got a message on our digivices about a mysterious S.O.S. signal. Daisuke and I went to check it out, but we had been ambushed by a digimon.”
“That we know, Ichijouji” Takeru vaguely commented.
“The jogress was an option for us but, we got separated in combat. When we found each other, Daisuke shoved me into the gate to save me from being captured.”
“Then, what have you discovered about the case?” Taichi acted as the good and old leader once again “You said on the phone that it is connected to the Roar of Freedom, am I wrong?”
“It’s an assumption” Ken explained “This group had been spotted on the same area Daisuke got caught, and they know who we are. Because after someone executed the Strikedramon brothers… We found that they left a message addressed to us.”
“Are they threatening us…?” Yamato clenched his fist, but Takeru calmed him down.
“We didn’t give up on finding Daisuke, and this may be the very first clue we got since two years ago.”
“... What you want us to do?” Koushiro asked him, and that was everyone’s question as well.
Ken hated to feel pressured by glares, somehow it brings him bad memories from his childhood. However, he was on Daisuke’s position in the group -- While Taichi is the first and Yamato the second… Daisuke is somehow the third. And Ken does not like to be the lead despite being the head of the Special Digimon Cases Unit.
“Nothing for now” he answered a few moments later, trying to formulate words in his mind.
“You want to go there and investigate, am I wrong?” Taichi said, then looked at the others.
“If Ken goes, I’m going” Miyako raised from her seat “Daisuke is not only our friend, it’s my husband. And I have to protect my family.”
“I’d like to go too but… I’m busy” Iori mused.
“I have a lot to do too” Hikari, Mimi and Sora replied, some frowns were visible.
“The hospital needs me, I’m sorry” Joe was honest as ever, deep down he wanted to do more for the group but he was the most busiest of the them right now.
“I could go, but” Takeru spoke “I have a book release to attend. After that, I can lend you a hand Ken.”
“The next mission is settled to the next week” Yamato was pouty “I will help giving support here. Could go investigating those cases in the meanwhile” then he glanced at Taichi.
“Sorry, I can’t go” and he answered “I had been a target, while I can still fight… Handling with the role as a Chosen Child and as the digimon’s Ambassador wouldn’t be good. I trust you two though. If you need help, I will do my best to send backup.”
“Taichi, our identities are a secret!” Yamato argued “You can’t simply ruin all of our efforts to keep our families safe!”
“I won’t, I prefer to call Ken’s unit to give him and Miyako support.”
Daichi was sleeping when someone had entered in his room. Luckily, Ulforce and Natsu were still spending the night at the old Daisuke’s office room so no one suspected about them.
A very quiet voice was what made Daichi wake up, seeing a blurred human holding a pink ball.
Wait.
“Daichi, please wake up and help” Kiyoko was the one he saw now that his vision went back to normal “This lil’ guy is needing some help!”
“Lil… W-wait, that’s a digimon!?”
“No, it’s a plush. Duh, of course he is!”
“What happened?!” he got up from the bed “Where did he come from!? Where did you find him!?”
“Uhh, long story short… He was running away from some baddie and de-evolved back to this form. Is it a… Poromon right?”
“Hm yes” he examined the borb-like baby “I think it is.”
“Why don’t you use that shining thing on your desk?”
“Shiny thing--” he looked back and realized he didn’t hide the D-TimeRune before going to sleep!! “Aa- Um, that thing!? It’s a phone! A normal phone!! Old phone I meant…!”
She smirked, “I know you’re hiding something from me dear brother. Because after getting your message, I phoned Mitsuki and he said you weren’t at his home. I also phoned your other friends and they said the same!”
He gasped.
“You can’t hide it from me, Daichi. I’m sly as a fox, faster like a cheetah and your sister.”
“A… Uh… Please, don’t tell anyone about this” Daichi sighed “I’ve got a digivice and a digimon partner.”
“YOU WHAT!?”
“Y-you’re going to wake mom up!!” he whispered to her “Please don’t tell mom or anyone else.”
“Fine fine!” Kiyoko muttered and pouted “Now please help me with this digimon, he seems hurt!”
Daichi grabbed the digivice and told Kiyoko to follow him to the room no one ever had opened since Daisuke’s disappearance. When they stood in front of the door, Daichi muttered:
“This is also a secret, don’t let anyone else know,” and he opened the door. They walked in and he closed the door, turned the lights on and made the sleepy digi-duo wake up.
“Aww, they’re cute!!” she was looking at them and almost squishing the hurt Poromon “What are they? Digimon too? That’s a Chibimon and… I never had heard of a pink bun!”
“Daichi isn’t your identity supposed to be a secret?” Natsu squinted her eyes but her expression changed to concern “Uh-oh, you have an injured digimon here! Let me heal it…!” and she switched forms in front of them, took the Poromon from Kiyoko’s hands and put it on the couch by Ulforce’s side. she send an energy from her hands to the bird-like digimon, healing him slowly.
“A secret?” Kiyoko glanced at Daichi “I thought you wouldn’t hide something from me…!”
“Natsu said to me to not tell anyone else, there’s some things you cannot know--”
“And there’s more!? And you can’t trust me!?”
“I think y’all should tell her” Ulforce interrupted the heated discussion. Both Daichi and Natsu looked at him “Sorry guys, the girl needs to know now that she’s aware of us here.”
“Fine, Daichi tell her I’m busy to give details. But you must keep quiet about it, Kiyoko.”
“I… I will, don’t worry!” the girl nodded “Not even mom and dad must know right…?”
“Especially them, or else they will lock me in the depths of the Digital World.”
“Ok…?” Kiyoko wasn’t able to understand that, but she promised to not tell anyone about whatever it was Daichi’s secret.
“... Mom and dad are legendary heroes” Daichi began “Remember of those stories about the Digital World’s warriors? They were real… And our dad is a brainwashed enemy right now.”
She stared at him for a while. Then she snorted and laughed but not too much loud.
“Seriously? Have you been talking with Junya lately? Our parents are heroes!? How funny!”
“Kiyoko I’m deadly serious here! They are, I just saw--”
“Wait, How can a digimon researcher and a worldwide famous chef be secret heroes? It makes no sense, big bro. You’re talking like Junya about the conspiracy theory of ambassador Yagami hiding the truth from everyone about the legends.”
“... He is right. But not for something evil, actually it’s about our safety.”
“Daichi, I don’t know what happened to you to jump from ‘our dad is dead’ to ‘our dad is alive, and our parents are part of the legendary Chosen Children’ but I know dad is on a business trip and our parents aren’t heroes.”
“He’s telling the truth” Natsu turned back and stared at Kiyoko “Daisuke, Miyako and Taichi are DigiChosen. Most of their friends are.”
“I… It’s strange knowing that our babysitter is a digimon but...”
“Kiyoko, my sweetie… I’ve been with your parents from a long time ago that I’m basically an honored digimon partner. Believe me, I tell no lies.”
“Why would dad be an enemy? He’s a good person!! Makes no sense!”
“He had been captured, but Daichi knows how to fix it… You have to stay here and not tell anyone about it--”
“Urk…” the Poromon woke up, his vision being pretty blurred but slowly coming back. His noise called the kids, Natsu and Ulforce’s attention though “I need to find the… C-Chosen Children.”
“Don’t talk, you’re badly injured!” Kiyoko said, worried with the poor bird “You’re safe, please rest.”
“Why is he looking for them?” Ulforce tilted his head.
“What happened to him, Kiyoko?” Daichi asked calmly.
“I don’t know, I was coming back from school and…”
… It fell from the skies devolved in front of me.
“Hey little one, are you okay?!” I approached from, super duper concerned with him. I took from the ground and examined him for a few seconds. Then he talked to me:
“... Human kid-- W-watch out…!!” He said and then he shove me to the ground. A light hit this poor Poromon and he fell again on the floor.
“Ugh, h-hey why did you-- Huh!?” I looked behind me and saw a shadow. It was trying to catch the Poromon so I grabbed the bird orb from the floor and ran away.
Daichi, Ulforce and Natsu looked at Kiyoko, then to each other. To Daichi, that sounded like the plot of one of the old games he and his father had played together.
“So, someone’s looking for him” the boy mused “And, probably is going after you now.”
“Yeah, I think so…”
“Do you think it chased her at home?” Ulforce looked around “I mean-- Not like I care of someone trying to invade your home...”
“The house is safe” Daichi said “There’s alarms and mx. Hawkmon lives here. He’s mom’s partner after all.”
“Uh… About that…” The three looked at Kiyoko “... Mom and mx. Hawk are not here, they went to an important meeting.”
“So we’re all alone!?” Ulforce babbled in panic, then he started to verify every corner of the room “Are we safe!?”
“Are you scared…?” Natsu smirked “Aren’t you the grand hero Ulforce?”
“Me!? Scared!?” the tiny-mon took the bait “I gonna show ya how great I am! Daichi kid, evolve me and I will protect everyone for the night!”
“Uh, no need to--” suddenly a noise was heard from outside. Kiyoko grabbed the Poromon and hid behind Natsu, while Daichi took the D-TimeRune to see if it was a digimon signal.
“Wha-what was that!?” the girl asked “It sounded like someone crashing the restaurant’s entrance door…!”
“Stay here” Daichi whispered, “Ulforce come with me.”
“F-fine…??” he nodded, then jumped to the boy’s arms. The duo left the room, leaving Natsu and Kiyoko to protect the injured Poromon.
“... Mom’s going to not like if they damage the restaurant” Kiyoko mused “Natsu, can you see if there’s someone inside?”
“I don’t feel anything from here, and Poromon is injured we can’t--”
Kiyoko left the room and Natsu sighed. No matter how much she worked to keep the siblings safe for the sake of their lives… Those two always find a way to get into trouble. Quite like their parents.
When the girls arrived at the restaurant floor, they saw Ulforce on child level already and chasing a shadow, with Daichi going after the blue digimon.
“It’s… It’s that one who was chasing me!!” Kiyoko shouted, Daichi glanced at her but turned back to the battle “P-please don’t damage the restaurant, dad wouldn’t like it…!!”
“I won’t!” He assured her “Ulforce, Kiyoko, Natsu, try to lure it to the outside!”
“Wait will you put YOUR SISTER in danger!?” Natsu babbled.
“She’s fine, she’s with us!”
“Yes, but do you forgot she’s a not a tamer!?”
“Oh screw that!” Kiyoko yelled “With or without a digimon, I’ve raised to fight! I’m made of fire!” then she ran towards the mysterious silhouette, with the Poromon in her hands “Hey, dummy dumbo thing! Come catch me, leave this place alone and come after me!” She left the restaurant by the main entrance, forcing the shadow to chase her.
“Good job, Kiyoko!” Daichi nodded, then looked at Ulforce and Natsu “Let’s go, we need to prevent that thing from hurting Kiyoko and the Poromon.”
“Ok” they nodded and with this the three left after the shadow.

Part one
The Light had left her Islands. The King of all had promised peace for her home when Mimmi bend the knel. Peace for The Honest Islands, there would be a most pure wish?
Iory and Ken were on The Salt. The prison Island. A desertic place were the worst criminals past their last years. Around the Island there were just salt water, infested with the worst leeches and the hottest weather. It was no scape.
Iory could feel his own sweat draining. The air was heavy and salty, everything stink and in front of him was Ichijouji. HIs brother had always been handsome, always elegant and altive. Now Ken looked like a shadow of himself, skinny and pale, but most important, quiet. At first Ken had been loud and gross. He had cursed Davis name on all the ways posible, he had called Iory a coward and a fool. The guards had not come for them, just had given them an occasional meal. FInally, Ken had reclaimed his own corner on the cell and had leaning over himself to think on silence.
“It isn't going to work” Iory said. The words between them sound weird and wrong. Ken did not answered “If you are trying to scape you better don't. We both know that it wouldn't work”
Ken kept quiet.
“You design this prison, you know how cruel it is going to be our death”
“They should give us separate cells” Ken said at last. And Iory actually laugh at the comment.
“They are waiting for us to kill each other” Iory said “that is why they let you kept that piece of blade on your clothes”
Ken turned to look at him for the first time.
“I only asking if it is going to be for resentment or mercy”
“You always surrender so easily”
“No I don't”
And that made Ken laugh.
“I should had killed you long ago” Ken said showing him the blade.
“When? When I lost the Ikkaku Island? When I let Davis come back?”
“That time when you replaced all my clothes with pink ones”
“OH MY GOD, that was so stupid”
“Even then I was the best dressed on the Gala”
“You and Davis dance all night”
The silent showed again.
“I am sorry” Iory said.
“Good” His brother answered.
Other day past and Ken didn't kill him. At night Iory hear Ken crying. When they stopped to bring them food, Iory cry too.
“Three days” Ken said “They are going to feed us again in three days to kept us alive”
Mercy, Iory tough looking at Ken’s blade again.
Ken was right, after three days they started to feed them twice a day, one time at afternoon and one time at morning.
Fifteen days had passed since they had been arrested when they heard the lock of the cell opened early.
“They are going to take us to forced labor” Ken said.
“Or they are going to feed the fish with us” Iory answered.
The Queen Mimmi entered at the room. Iory knelt and reverence until his front touch the floor while Ken lie uncaring over the dirty floor.
“Your majesty” Iory said.
“Iory, Ken” The Queen greeting “The Light had left the Honest Island. Taichi had left to me to decide what to do with you both”
“Left” Ken said “my favorite eye is the left one, in case you are wondering”
The eyepatch of the Queen was broided with a rose. She had come to see them alone.
“Force labor would let the people watch our punishment and would kept the memory of our treason alive, but it would give us the best chances to scaped. The public execution will be better” Iory said calmly.
“The King last will was for you to be alive”
Iory remember the last word of Joe. ”Don't kill the children” He trembling at the thought of he and Ken as Joe’s children.
“Children doesn't lead revolutions” Ichijouji said.
“Well… the KIng of all didn't know that” Mimmi answered
Iory looked at the Queen. She was composed, but she was not in peace, her purple eye shine and an old blade of the desert rest on her side.
“What do you want?”
“The Light come to the Island with false promises of peace and when we had solve our problems THe Wolf Knight killed my husband”
“Your majesty” Iory claimed as Ichijouji raised from the floor.
“Joe was the best of us and they killed him” The Queen said “i am going to do what it has to be done” She get at the door and opened the cell “Stand up, my knights, I, The Queen of the Honest Island, had proclaimed our independency, join me and this land would remember you as libertadores, refused it and you would be forgotten”
“You are asking for another war, and for what? the people would suffer, Joe knew…” Iory claimed.
“But Joe is death and his murderers are free and ruling!”
“Joe never want a war and if you truly love him you would honor his memory and would rule over the peace that he left you”
Iory was standing in front of the Queen. He was short for his age, his eyes were brown as his hair. A little rock in the sea, standing. The son of Joe that wasn't hers.
The forgotten Prince felt the cold iron on his back “For the back, brother?” The child said with sorrow to Ichijouji, who removed the blade from the back of his brother with no hesitation.
Iory’s body hit the ground and Ken Ichijouji kneel in front of the Queen.
Mimmi left The Salt with a new knight and that same night she wrote a letter to her sister, the Queen of the Desert would be happy.
Part two
When he wake up she was already gone.
The remorse craw on his head, why she would stay? What else would she want for him?
Taichi was not ready for another day, he didn't want Hikari´s eyes over him, her empty words, her endless patient, her lies, her light.
But behind his door was still dark, no sister, no wife, only one soldier guarding the room.
None of them were ready, Taichi hold his breath uncertain, he want to talk, to come close, but he didn´t know how, Sora´s touch was still fresh on his skin.
“Yamato.... “Since when was he there? did he saw the queen go? did he notice her sweet, her bed hair, her trembling legs?
“Your majesty” The knight do the formal salude, so much melancholy
Taichi flinch, it had been so long since he hear his voice, one word of Yamato and he was able to breath again.
The short distance between them feels like a thousand miles, but it doesn't matter, Taichi run and hold him against the wall, Kissing him had always been easy, they belong together.
“i´m sorry” he murmur at some point when he was able to finally articulate words ”Im so sorry” he repeat while Yamato hands trip under his vest
“good” he smile while his armor fall over the floor, when they enter to room?
“Yamato.. wait” he use all his strength to separate their bodies “we must be careful, we canot... we cannot make the same mistake twice”
“mistake?” now he was mad, Taichi knows his frowning forehead and the trembling lips
“No like that, please listen”
“I miss you” somehow it´s feel like a reclaim
“I.. I... “ No, he wasn't strong enough and once agains he rush to him “This is dangerous”
“That's a brilliant discovery your highness, it took you all this time to get to that brilliant conclusion?”
“Shut up!” the skin behind his neck where so soft, her blonde hair has grown at least a few inches since the last time he get to touch him, Taichi get scare for all the new scars on his lover back “ I'm serious”
“Im aware of that, im the lover of the King, i know everyday could be my last”
“I will never allowed that! i promise …”
“stop, don´t do that” he saw him in confusion “ don´t make any promise”
“I will protect you”
“That's my job”
“I can…”
“No you cannot!” Yamato yells “I´m not afraid of death, look at me Taichi, im not a good man, im a bastard, a liar, a murder”
“You are not…”
“Yes im, and if you love me you must accept it , what we do is not right... Taichi there are only two ways this could end”
“What are you talking about?”
“or I die, or worse”
“Or what?” he could not imagine something more horrible
“Or you grow tired of me and you find a new boy toy to fool around”
“Don't ever said that again”
“Is that an order you majesty?”
“Yes”
“Good, Then it's decided it, i will die for you my love”
He wish to be stronger, wiser, to dream about something else than his blue eyes, to be selfless enough to make him go away from him; but by the end he was sure, there was no risk in this world he would not take for him.

The Eternal Digi-discussion: “Koumi or Jyoumi”
After watching the 4th Digimon Tri Movie: Soushitsu, i’m getting the feeling that the relationships between each of the digidestined are taking shape.
From my point of view, Takari seems to be a very close friendship between Hikari and Takeru, i don’t know if Takeru feels atractted to Hikari in a “romantic” way, but he does feel a great love for her, and he cares a lot about her and what happens to her, like a sister-brother bond. For Hikari, it’s a little different, because it seems she’s starting to develop some kind of feeling for him, maybe a little atracttion outside their brother-sis-kinda-like relationship, maybe they would end up together, but it’s not certain.
On the other side, “Taito” feels completelly like a love-hate friendship from both of them, like a bromance, that could be fueled by their shared interest in Sora.
Sora does have feelings for both of them, in Digimon Adventure 01, we saw a close relationship between Taichi and Sora, and later, on the Our War Game OVA, it’s proved that there’s something going on with them, but it seems like Sora it’s in love with Taichi, but he doesn’t go for it, so Sora just moved on, with her broken heart. Later, on the Diablomon Strikes Back! OVA, we can see that Sora and Yamato are dating, just like it’s told on Digimon Adventure 02, so it’s like Sora was in love with Taichi, but he didn’t make up his mind, so when Yamato started to ask her out, she just gave the chance.
But in Tri it seems that Sora and Yamato do have something going on, but Sora seems to feel something for Taichi, making their love triangle very complicated.
On the Epilogue from Digimon Adventure 02, it’s implied that Sora and Yamato did had a family together, but maybe on Tri, we’re going to have some Taiora that’s not going to work, ending up on the Sorato canon epilogue we all know. And at last, but no least the girl that is breaking all the ships on Tri, Mimi Tachikawa. It’s very common to find Jyoumi shippers arguing that Joe and Mimi do share many things and have a lot on time together on screen in Digimon Adventure 01 and Digimon Tri, which, in fact, it’s true. But to me, the relationship between Mimi and Joe it’s like a “best friends” thing, in which Mimi feels very confortable with Joe to talk her things and that kind of stuff, because Joe it’s a very comprehensive person, so it’s easy for Mimi to feel confidence with him as a close friend.
Joe, on the other hand, it’s a very protective person with his friends, and he does care for all of them, not only for Mimi, for example, when he goes to visit Koushiro to see how is he doing.
But from my point of view, i don’t feel like Joe and Mimi have interest in a “romantic” way for each other, they’re just good friends, just like the relationship that Koushiro haves now with Takeru.
I am a Koumi shipper since like, the past 17 years, since i watched the Digimon Adventure EP 10, i thought they were a funny couple, althought Koushiro has always been my fav digidestined. But in the Adventure 01, it doesn’t seems to be a lot of evidence from a “romantic” relationship between Mimi and Koushiro, but what it do seems to be it’s the fact that Koushiro it’s a very distant self-centered kid, and Mimi is a very attention needed girl, who always wants to be the center of attention. The fact that in Adventure 01, Izzy doesn’t seems to give a damn about Mimi, gave Mimi a reaction like “Why on earth you don’t see i’m so pretty, but not in a Notice me, senpai, way”. Later, on Adventure 01, Koushiro starts to have more especific weight in the digidestined team, being in charge about taking decissions, and the fact that all the other digidestined rely 100% in Koushiro for what all are going to do. Mimi noticed that, and in some kind of way, she felt secure leaving things on Koushiro. Later, on Digimon Adventure 02, Mimi moved to North America and lost contact with all the digidestined except with Koushiro, maybe because he is like a tech freak and he is always in his laptop sending e-mails and stuff. Maybe, when she was in North America, the fact that she kept in touch with Koushiro made her miss less Japan and the other digidestined.
In the Diablomon Strikes Back OVA, Koushiro was the one who knew that Mimi was coming, and as soon Mimi arrived to Japan, she went directly to Koushiro’s. I guess that she felt Koushiro was trying so hard to find a solution for the conflict, that she wanted to help him being just there as a company. I feel like it’s a cool relationship because Koushiro always is so hard pusher with himself, and Mimi does help him in taking things easy and calm. In all the Diablomon Strikes Back OVA, Mimi and Koushiro were together, Koushiro was so stressed about the situation, taking the boss position, telling everyone what to do, and Mimi was just there for him, trying to make him chill out and relax.
3 years later, on Digimon Tri, things were just too similar, Koushiro was the one who kept in touch with Mimi, and he just invited her in a cassual way to cross the whole ocean just for a football game, which it’s illogic and ridiculous, BUT, Mimi did reply the message and accepted to go, asking Koushiro to book her flight and that stuff. Mimi was joking, but Koushiro did check flights prices, and when she arrives in Japan, as soon that she sees Koushiro, she starts to tease him with flirting jokes and things like that, because she notices that Koushiro has developed atracttion to her, which it’s exactly what she always wanted on Digimon Adventure 01.
It’s pretyt obvious that Koushiro it’s in love with Mimi, and i think that it’s pretty obvious too that Mimi knows it.
When the digidestined hang out all together, Mimi always seems to be close to Koushiro, in the Hot Spring Bath trip, Koushiro was choosing his clothes but was in despair, so Mimi just went by, so chill and relax and told him what to wear, which it’s very funny, and i think that way are going to be the things if those two end up together, Koushiro being in despair for not knowing what to wear and Mimi choosing for him, just like a regular wife. Other interesting things it’s the fact that Mimi it’s always making compliments to Koushiro, like, about his office, his software, and stuff like that, saying that she is impressed. To me, it sounds like she’s in impressed with the man who is becoming Koushiro, and that reinforces the fact that she always had 100% trust in Koushiro and his decissions, aknowleding him as the true leader, instead of Taichi, who appears to be distant in Tri, and clearly not qualified on Digimon Adventure 01 and 02.
I’m not saying that Mimi is in love with Koushiro, but i feel like she is developing a clearly interest on him.
But let’s move on to what matters, the fact that in Digimon Tri, Koushiro and Mimi seem to get along very well, but it’s clear that both of them crash in discussions, mainly for the reason that their personalities are so different.
But to me that’s not a bad sign, i think it’s a good sign for Koumi shippers because both of them have some kind of chemistry thing going on, a love-hate thing, but the thing that makes it different its the fact that Koushiro likes Mimi in a “romantic” way, and she appears to know it.
But that doesn’t stops them from getting in a hot discussion between Koushiro and Mimi, so in a twisted kind of way, it’s pretty much like those relationships between two people that like each other, but no one is going to make a move.
Digimon Tri is a sea of Koumi hidden references:
When the reboot occurs and all the digimon return to the digiworld, Koushiro is trying so hard to keep them all together, which he fails because the digiestined ended up splitting each one from the other. There’s a scene when Koushiro is calling everyone to find a way for them to recover their digimon partners, and he calls Mimi, she sees the phone, and it’s thinking to answer or not, which it’s a curious thing, because Mimi rarelly doubts of herself. But that is maybe because she was sad about losing palmon, or maybe she was still mad with Koushiro from their previous discussions.
But then, there is this other scene…
Koushiro is in his office, working the shit out of him to find a way to recover their digimon partners, on the edge of becoming crazy, and then… Mimi enters to his office.
He didn’t notice her, just like in the past.
But her reaction it’s different, she doesn’t made a scene or any noise, she was just there, watching him, in a confussed way, like she’s is doubting something. Then she cleans off the mess, and leaves him his Tea, and she just walks away, having a sad look, but to me it seems like she was in fact, still mad with him, but she does worry about him, and she is praying with all her heart the Koushiro founds a way to solve this thing, like he has always done in the past.
Koumi in the Digiworld:
The digidestined arrive and found their partners, just like Koushiro planned it, but their partners didn´t recognize them, which makes everyone sad, but Koushiro, who is so energetic telling Mochimon about all the stuff, talking everending just like he always does, and then…
the scene.
Mimi just gets by, on side from Koushiro and starts with that attitude that she always gives to Koushiro like “It’s ok, let’s take a rest, stop talking Koushiro-kun, and relax” and she interrupts him BY FUCKING TRYING TO FEEDING HIM.
I know Mimi it’s a very expressive person, and she always demonstrates her feelings, in special when she loves someone, she just goes there and hug, like Mei, just the opposite of what Koushiro does.
But that, that was just too much…
this time she did worry about Koushiro and wanted him to take a rest, and, in some kind of way, which i don’t clearly understand, she thought that feeding Koushiro was a nice way for her to say thanks for everything, like don’t giving up on recovering their partners, just like all the others.
Koushiro blushes to death and cuts the biggest and best Koumi scene ever, but the message was sent.
Mimi does have feelings for Koushiro.
But we still don’t know if Mimi knows.
Then we have this scene when all the digidestined are sent far from each other (just like in adventure 01, which ended up with Mimi and Koushiro being together), but in this time, Mimi ended up with Tentomon, and then she starts talking good things about him and she says that it’ll be useful if Koushiro was there, with her, because she knows, no matter what, Koushiro always have a way to solve things up, which is proved later when they battled on ice.
For ending up, i still don’t know if Koumi is going to end being a real thing, like in canon, but it my eyes, we have evidence that Koumi IS A THING.
And i will say that in all the ships which Mimi is involded with, Koushiro is taking the lead. Thanks for reading.

The bells of the Light church rang at the sunrise. Queen and King wake up on the big bed. The King rolled over it and tried to cover himself with the bed sheets.
“it is going to be late” It wasn’t and order, but everything that Sora said feels like a comand now.
Taichi turned to his wife. She undressed herself unceremoniously and walked naked until the dresser. For years both had kept themselves to some shy decor but shy had died on her wife.
“You are going to miss your audiences” She said when she come out full dress and Taichi was still sitting over the bed on his bet´s clothes.
She looked gorgeous on that big dress, it was embroidered with the Light emblems and it left place for the sword that Sora carried everywhere.
“Your audiences” She insisted.
“Yes, yes, I know. They can wait for me, I’m the King” Taichi said as he stand up and walked at the dresser.
“I am on my way then. I had a reunion with the sisters on the morning, but I’m going to take the audiences of the afternoon”
When she opened the door Yamato wasn’t standing outside. Nobody cared their door anymore. No one follow the Queen anymore. Taichi waited until Sora’s steps were far away to change his clothes. When he opened the door Hikary was waiting outside.
“Brother” the girl said smiling. “Let me accompany you at the ceremony”
Taichi take a deep breathe. The words “I want to be alone” die on his troat. Hikary take his arm and they walked together at the throne room.
The royal guard was waiting on the throne room. Most of them wearing the Light armor, Yamato Ishida, royal guard and leader of the soldiers, wasn’t.
The King crossed his look with the handsome soldier. Restrained himself to touch him had never costed him this much.
“Brother” Hikary called him “Your majesty” she corrected promptly “We are ready to star”
Taichi sat on the throne. HIkary welcome at the guests of the ceremony and recited a five minute prayed.
“I can’t believed they made us attended this” Kouji whispered at Takuya on the back line of the army.
“And you don’t go at the daily mass, they are longer everyday” the fellow soldier replayed.
“What is she wearing?”
“It is a ceremonial sister thing”
“It would be easier pay attention to her if she hasn’t three layer of clothes on”
“The sisters of Light are illuminated, it is supposed that if they don’t cover to head to toe when they pray they would break the souls of the weakness with her sacred grace”
“What?”
A sshh called the attention of the soldiers.
Hikary finally retired of the spotlight and Taichi stand up of the throne. Davis Motomiya knelt down in front of him.
“Outrageous” Kouji said on a quiet voice “the man betrayed the King that he swore to protect and received a title”
“Is he that good?” Takuya asked.
“What?”
“Is he as good to be the new protege of the King?” the knight asked with disdain.
“The protégé of the King?”
Izzy Izumi standed behind the young men and they shut up immediately.
Kouji looked at Takuya. His brown eyes were glued at Motomiya, the guy had returned from the war with the favor of King, he was now his new apprentice, not Takuya. Kouji had seen Motomiya in action on the battlefield, if he had the favor of the King he can easily ascend on the royal guard. Kouji could had been worried about his own position on the royal guard, but the subtle hate on the eyes of Yamato Ishida when he accepted Motomiya on the guard were even bigger than the envy on the eyes of Takuya.
When the little ceremony ended the supreme alchemist come close at the King and whispered something at his ear. Sorrow plasted on the face of the monarch. His eyes went to Yamato. The royal guard was at some steps of The King.
“That concludes the ceremony, thank to all of you for coming”Hikary said with the sweetest voice “That the true god of Light enlighten your days” She said as she looked at Yamato.
Kouji knew that look. That was the look that the enlightened had for him and his brother. That people always talk about saving the souls, but their solutions always were torches and murders.
The King left the throne room. His sister followed him.
Yamato left the throne room, but he cannot follow the king any more. The royal guard assemble the guard, it was time for training.
Kouji had to admit that this was the funniest training that they had ever had. Yamato wasn’t subtle about his hate for Davis Motomiya, his exercises were excessive, no soldiers talk to him, he felt and get hurt. Even Takuya mock him. Takuya whose first move always was befriend the new recruits.
Prince Takeru knel to help him when Motomiya felt for the third time.
“It’s enough!” The Prince claimed.
Yamato actually listened to him and called out the soldiers.
“Your training are really hard, I’m not surprise of the good reputation of your army” Motomiya said at the prince with some tenderness.
“The Captain need time” Takeru said.
“What?”
“If you act right, this could get better” The prince handed some water at Davis. Kindness was so strange to him right now. The prince was gone for when Davis tried to said thank you.
“this could get better” Davis repeated to himself. Hope was never his strength. He was optimistic on the battles, but it was Ken and Iory work to do the planning. Ken and Iory. He shouldn’t miss the brothers that he betrayed. He missed Ken’s warm and Iory’s clarity. What would be their brothers advice on this situation? Ken would kill at anyone who mock him, he would made some cruel revenge plan. Iory probably would take it as a challenge, maybe he would try to win at the superiors, his little brother was good for that. Ryo would resolve this problem for him. But his master was gone and Davis was alone. He cannot plan a evil revenge or charming his way out. He did the thing that he do when he can’t do anything else.
The afternoon came at the palace. It was quite and warm and Davis was boring, the trained had let him wounded and sad. He walked by the gardens through the hallways, until the big doors of the wall around the castle. Takuya and Kouji were guarding the doors.
“Where are you going?” Takuya asked
“I'm going to the port, I would come back by the sunset” Davis answered
“I dont think so”
“ i dont had orders to complete or anything to do here”
“You can't leave without permission” Kouji interested
“Do we need permission to leave the palace-” Davis asked. The two soldiers look at each other with smuggled smiles.
“I don't think you understand what is happening”
“ You are just being mean” Davis accused them.
“mean?” takuya laughed “it is a way to said it”
A whinny interrupted the conversation. When Davis turned it was Yamato Ishida infront of him riding a black horse.
“What is happening here?” The royal guard asked
“Motomiya wants to leave the Castle” Kouji said
“ Trying to escape already?” Yamato looked down at Davis since the horse.
“I'm not quicking I just want to visit the port” Davis claimed. He isn't scaping anything, he was a free man.
“You can't leave the castle, Motomiya”
“What? Why?”
“Orders of the King”
“Liar”
Yamato get down of the horse.
“How do you call me?”
“You heard it”
Davis saw the fit of his superior officer and got ready to take the hit, but the hand of princes Takeru hold the elbow of the royal guard.
“Yamato!” the princes called “what are you doing?”
The older man shake it off his anger.
“I was going to teach a lesson to this vermin”
“I had a name” Davis said challenging Yamato, the blond turned to him with hate on his eyes. “I need to go at the port to pray, when did you go?”
“Excuse me?”
“You are too a son of the ocean as me”
“I’m nothing like you” Yamato claimed as get closer to the soldier.
“Every soldier of the King is a soldier of the Light” Takuya said firmly. Kouji grown smaller and Takeru and Yamato evaded his look.
“I had seen the big walrus on your neck” Davis said at Yamato “You are a son of the ocean”
“SIlence!” Yamato scream and moved his hand with force “You don’t have the right to call the old names of the ocean, how you dare, you… dirty traitor”
The words of Yamato hang on the air, Davis listened it but need a few seconds to understand the meaning of the words.
“I betrayed your enemies, I joined your army, I won your war, your men and your King are only alive because…”
“You betrayed YOUR KING! YOU KILL HIM!”
Yamato’s hand was over his sword and the hand of Takeru was holding his
“No” Davis said “You are the one who killed Joe KIdo”
Takeru looked at Davis with surprise and slowly released Yamato. Finally he turned over himself to don’t watch the ugly show.
The fist of Yamato finally hit Davis face. The young soldier tried to evade the second one, but Kouji hold him by the back and kept him in place. Yamato broke his lips and hit his stomach. Davis couldn’t breathe,he was only bleeding. Finally he hit the ground. Someone, probably Takeru, let him at the infirmary.
Davis wake up on a cold room, alone. The wall of the palace were probably the last wall that he had ever seen. He had been wrong, he wasn’t the protege of the KIng or a soldier of the royal guard, he was a prisoner and he was so far away of the ocean than no god would heard him.
The old god had abandoned him. His master had leave him behind. His new King had lied to him. There was no more place to go. Davis entered at The Light church. There were angels and figures of old criatures singing and howling, there tails were long and there arms short. Davis walked for the corridors and stopped in the garden.
The young boy stand next to the fountain and with a hand in the water and the eyes on the sky, he pray.
A suddenly noise alerted him. He turned the head and saw her standing next to fountain, beautiful as a new day, an angel.
“What hails you, brother?” The angel asked, but Davis has no words to share with so gracefull presence. He broke over her and cried all his laments.
"Holy mother in heaven, shelter of the poor and support of the weaks" Hikary pray "show the way at this lost sheep".
Since they balcony of the church Izumi watch the encounter with an impy smile.

The war was over. It only remains the pain and the injuries. Yamato rested over his bed, the movement of the boat was a lullaby. His closed eyes a window at the horrors. The battlefield, the smell of the blood, the screams and the soldiers falling. Brothers of the Honest Islands against the army of the King. The ghost of his sword still on his hand and the arrows of Joe flying, aparting the enemies from him. They had win a battle, but his injuries were bad, the soldiers transported Yamato at the boat.
He closes his eyes and lets the movement of the boat lullas him. A knock at the door. It must be Joe, all concerned by his health, panicking already.
Taichi entered at the room with a discreted smile over his face.
“We won” The King said and then, Yamato remembered the horrors of this war. “How are you feeling, Love? are you hurt?”
Yamato didn’t answered, but his hand found Taichi’s
“Kouji had send the news at The Capital, the pigeons are going to arrive before us. They are gonna received us with a big fest for shure”
The injuries burn inside Yamato, maybe Iory hadn’t hit him so much, but he had fight at the limit of his strength. Any way, the little menace is going to have worst.
“Davis Motomiya and Ryo Akiyama are on the boat behind ours, some of our best soldiers are watching them”
Fourteen, Iory Hida had only fourteen, the age that he had when he went at the war for the first time. How few you know at fourteen years old.
“I know you don't like them, but I can see good on Motomiya, I’m glad that he join us. And the summon alchemist had told me some things about Akiyama, for what I understand he is all talk and no action”
Joe Kido was death.
“You need to rest” Taichi said and kiss him sweetie “You look bad, I´m gonna send someone to attend you”
He killed Joe Kido and he was crying with Taichi on his arms, who kiss him and clean his tears and talked about nonsense bullshit that Yamato couldn't care less about.
“You were right, Yamato. I didn't understand what war was” Taichi said and hold his lover’s hand when he closed his eyes. Yamato was tired and the ship kept moving. At the end, he heard the voice of the King, reciting with a musical cadence “ Forgive me God because I had sin, forgive the soul of the fallen. True God of Light, heal the sick, protect the weak…”
.
.
The war had been a mistake. Davis was thinking while he walk. The Light ship was big, the tropes were organized and fast. They weren't as the tropes that he had commanded. How much they could had avoid if his brothers would had listen to him? If they hadn’t be taken by the heat and the hate? He was in the winner said of the war, but he had lose so much.
“You did the right thing” his master said rounding his shoulder with his arm “History will give you the reason, believe me, I know about wars”
“My brothers…”
“They made mistakes” Ryo said “Big mistakes, that are on them, not on you”
“But I felt…”
“Betrayed, disappointed, maybe alone, those are perfectly reasonable feelings, but listen to me young man” Ryo take him by the shoulders and look at him directly at the eyes “ Never felt guilty for winning”
A moment of silence. The looks of the two men were intense and Ryo could feel the brain of Davis processing his words.
“That scar is horrible” Davis said and his master punch him on the head.
“You thing I didn’t know it?” Ryo claimed “I’m going to use a eye patch forever”
The scar of the poison arrow that Joe throw at his eye. The sea King failed at kill him, but he let him desfigurated, his precious face was now marked. What is his wife going to think?
“It's not that bad”
“That is good lie, son” Ryo said recovering his usual confident posture “We are going to need more of those”
“Master?”
Ryo walking him at the least crowley part of the ship.
“Going at the King side was the right move, but don’t get confused, The Light is still the enemy”
“Our enemy?”
“The enemy of humanity” Ryo said with undeniable certainty “The brothers and sisters of The Light are the lovers of the evil. Under any circumstance you must trust them. Over all never, never trust the summon alchemist, Koushiro Izumi is the worst”
“Koushiro Izumi?”
“Memorice the name Davis, is the name of the devil”
“The war is over, why we are still worry about enemies?”
“Oh Davis, enemies are not a business of war, is life”
The tone of his master was jovial, but Davis felt sadder every minute.
“I’m not going with you at the Capital”
“What? Why?” Davis said alarming
“The Light is there, and they don’t like me very much, but don’t worry, I’m not going to lose the track of you. I will come back for you, you just need to remember my wise advice, okey?”
“Don’t trust The Light”
“Specially...?” Ryo asked
“Don’t trust Koushiro Izumi”
“See, you are ready for the real world, Davis”
A pat in the back and Davis felt his world trembling.
.
.
.
The ships of The Light arrived at The Capital. White pendants where everywhere and despite the sun of the summer women are wearing long shirts and men all the buttons fastened. A Light committee was waiting for the King, the summon alchemist in person leading.
“Kouji”
The knight heard his name and turned himself to found his brother on the ship.
“Kouchi! What are you doing?” Kouji asked noting the casual clothes that his brother was wearing.
The brothers hug each other, happinest and release were palpable.
“You are alive, Kouji!” the youngest twin exclaimed “I don’t had much time, The Light had forbidden the entranced of warlocks and wizards at the first circle of The Capital”
“What?!”
“But I had to see you, the news of your victory are flying, brother. The moon knight, is how everyone is calling you, they said you won the battle of the Ikkaku Island”
“We won together, Kouchi” said Kouji with tears on his eyes “It was your sword the one who give me the victory”
“I had to leave soon, but I’m steading on the old house of my mother, at the end of the city”
“Kouchi…”
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry.”
Kouji look around himself, the symbols of The Light were for all the city, they were no merchants on the streets and the festive music sounding was a praying at the true God of Light. Kouji hold his sword and his brother’s arm and walked to found Davis Motomiya, it was his duty to escort him and his master to land.
Davis and his master were talking on a corner of the ship.
“You both had to come with me” The knight commanded.
The two foreign look around them with fear. On land The Light Committee was talking at The King. The summon alchemist turned his head at the second ship, were the four men were standing. Kouchi and Ryo Akiyama kneel to cover themselves of the look of Izumi.
The two men look at each other with surprise.
“Not a fan of The Light?” Ryo asked.
“Lets said that I more slippery that the other warlocks”
“Ryo Akiyama”
“Akiyama? I’m Kouchi Kimura, my mother had a lot of stories about you”
“Kimura? You are the son of the dusk witch? ”
“I am the dusk warlock now”
“Awesome…”
“Guys” Kouji interrupted “I had to escorted Davis and Akiyama at land.”
“Oh boy, I’m not going to land, believe me, the next war is going to start as soon as the alchemist see me” Ryo said as look with curiosity at the two identical boys.
“twins” said the brothers at unisone.
“Nice”
“You can stay in my house” Kouchi offered “Any person who hide from the summon alchemist is welcome”
Kouji coughed a little.
“Come on, brother do it for the dusk in the universe”
“Alright, but Motomiya is coming with me”
“Thank you, I own you one, pretty boy” Ryo said
“He is the moon knight” Kouchi corrected him.
“Whatever” Ryo responded “Don’t forget my advise, Davis”
And after a last warning the two men scuttled out of the ship.
Kouji knew that he had disobeyed direct orders but if The Light had this much power now the heretics had to help each other more than ever.
.
.
.
The festive on The Capital was opulent. Taichi saw with enthusiasm the long pendants on the street, there was music that he didn’t heard since his time on the old Light monastery and the sisters of Light are wearing their festive attire. He turned his head to saw at Yamato, but the eyes of the knight were lost on a wall of the street when the words <king predator> were written over a draw of a wolf head. Taichi new Yamato was a little lost, a peaceful time on the palace will help him. They could organize a haunting travel when the festivities were over. He had ending the war, the people couldn´t ask him more than that. It was true that The Light had take some liberties at his absent, but the King is back, he wish nothing more that return at his old day to day life.
HIkary and Takeru were waiting at the entrance of the palace. The face of the King and the Knight illuminated when they saw their little siblings. Taichi could hug his sister, for Yamato and Takeru a careful <master you are back> was enough for Yamato to fall at the floor.
“Yamato” Takeru called alarmed.
“He is tired, he hadn't rest well” The King spoke “Prince Takeru, please scorted The Wolf Knight at the infirmary”
Takeru hurry to accomplish the order, Taichi knew that the time with his brother will help Yamato more that anything else.
“Brother” HIkary called him with tears on her eyes “Thank the True God of Light you come back”
“The Honest Islands are in peace” The King said with pride “we had made sacrifices but all had been for the good of my people”
“Your victory is not the only miracle that God has conceived us your majesty” Koushiro said with the biggest smile that Taichi had ever see him.
“What you mean?”
“On your absent the Queen had converted at The Light” HIkary said.
“What!? Sora converted? What said the Queen mother?”
Hikary and Koushiro saw each other with sadness.
“The Queen mother was murdered by some foreign assassins”
“Assassins? for where?”
“Your highness” Koushiro said “It looks like the crown had more enemies that we thought”
“How is my wife?” Taichi asked, Sora and her mother were opposite poles but they were as close as the storms and the clouds, she had to be devastated.
“The Holy Queen is illuminated, brother”
There were something on the way that Hikary said the title that made Taichi freeze his blood.
The King finally come back at the throne room. White flowers and golden feathers were decorating the room. In the center was the Queen, sat on the big throne of the King. wearing a gold armor with a embroidered phoenix next to The Light symbols, the crown shine over her head and the big sword of the King Gennai was tide it at her wip. Beautiful was not the word that Taichi would use to described her, she was illuminated, but it wasn't the kind warm light that Hikary irradiated when she heal his wounds, it was the light of fire, violent and free, burning the world.
The Queen stand up before Taichi could order her to leave the throne. She walked toward him and with the fakest of the smiles she said.
“I had been waiting for you”.
His wife was in front of him, holding his hands. HIkary and Koushiro were each one at one side of him. He had come back home. He had won the war. The Light had won the war.
