Green-spored parasol 》 Chlorophyllum molybdites

Also known as the false parasol and the vomiter, this species is highly toxic but not usually deadly. It is the most commonly consumed toxic mushroom in North America as it is often mistaken for the edible parasol mushroom 》 Macrolepiota procera and the shaggy parasol 》 Chlorophyllum rhacodes. It can be distinguished by the green-tinted gills in mature specimens and its pale green spore print, whereas its edible look-alikes will have a white spore print.

Meet Fallohide!

They cleaned up beautifully! 8 vertebrae, 3 ribs, 3 tail bones, sacrum, both femurs, right tibia and metatarsal, right half of a pelvis, and 7 little discs that popped off of the vertebrae.

Many of these are partials/broken, but that just means I get to see all the beautiful textures of the trabeculae inside. 🤍

Fallohide is not a feral hog as I originally suspected but is in fact a white tailed deer!

The moth orchid (Phalaenopsis sp.) is what comes to mind when most people think of an “orchid”. This genus has many different species that have been hybridised to produce a myriad of different colours and patterns. The genus comes from Southeast Asia and Australia, where it naturally grows as an “epiphyte” on the branches of trees.

A scientific illustration of some oak leaves I did for an application. The shading on both is done with stippling! Back home, all we had were coastal live oaks. When I went off to college, I was so surprised to learn that these big rounded leaves were also from oak trees! So different from the spiky little bastards I know.

Hi! I saw you post my friend's cat and I'd like to share mine!

This is Murphy and he's verrrry large. I have to take him places in a stroller because he's too big for a carrier.

He's been my best friend for 15 years now and I love him so much. Also, that rug used to be blue but he loves shedding on it so it always ends up grey again. (Also also, he loves paper bags. I have to give them to him to roll on.)

This lovely paper-bag roller looks like a black mackerel tabby with medium white!

I saw this beautiful moth outside my house a while back, it looked like it was still drying off its wings. I was wondering if you could tell me what it is? I live in North America if that helps :)

I believe this is a white-lined sphinx moth!

I posted in that rock hounding group mostly to get an id on this and while people id'd many other rocks... they all just liked this one or said it was pretty. (Which is TRUE.)

It's from the general Presque Isle campground area in the Porcupine Mountains in the UP of Michigan, fresh outta Lake Superior.

Reverse google image says it's llanite... which it can't be because of the location... my other guesses are like... maybe labrodorite inclusions in something else? Maybe? I have spent many cumulative hours googling and I genuinely have no idea.

Green-spored parasol 》 Chlorophyllum molybdites

Turns out my apartment complex is FULL of this species. This is the first summer I've spent here and the lawns are covered of some of the largest agaric mushrooms I've ever seen!!! Many more pics to come.
