Married, Colleagues, Divorced
This thought would enter his mind: Something about it is definitely different. (Gaara Hiden, Ch. 1) | Ten Days of Tenzo (@tendaysoftenzo) Day 5: Kakashi | AO3 |
                          ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Yamato to Kakashi of the Two Normal Eyes: Kakashi. Can I ask you a question...?
Kakashi to Colleague I Think About Such a Normal Amount: Yes, Tenzō?
Yamato: Did you date Iruka?
Kakashi: Why do u ask?
Yamato: Something Naruto said about going on outings with the two of you. Apparently, you even paid.
Kakashi: We are amicably divorced
Yamato: Elaborate.
Kakashi: The outings are part of our custody arrangement. The ramen is alimony
Yamato: I understand all of these words but not in this order.
Kakashi: What’s not to understand. It’s important to model healthy separation for the kids
Yamato: So you two did date?
Kakashi: No. Next question
--
Kakashi to Standing Tenzōvation: Come sit here
Yamato to Hatake a Bow: I’ll come find you after. We’re going to get in trouble for texting during jōnin council deliberation again.
Kakashi: I tried talking to u with Anbu hand signals. U said those were too obvious
Yamato: They are too obvious; you should see the message Genma sent me after the last council. Why do I need to sit there anyway?
Kakashi: I want to eat with u today and if I’m not already occupied after we finish I will be caught in a meeting vortex
Yamato: Comes with the new job-title, Rokudaime-sama.
Kakashi: Not until next week, officially. And I didn’t enjoy any part of that sentence.
Yamato: Well, aren’t you emotionally forthright today? It’s refreshing.
Kakashi: Does that mean u will buy lunch?
Yamato: You’re the one who just got a promotion. Hokage’s treat?
Kakashi: I’ll spar u for it
Yamato: You’re on.
--
Kakashi to Magic Mountain: Soup on your windowsill
Yamato to Lord Sixth Flags: Thank you. You could come in, you know.
Kakashi: U need some rest. Plus I have been assigned a mission to have tea with Hyuga-san 2nite
Yamato: That’s a new one. Who assigned that?
Kakashi: Me. 😔 I’ve been told clan relations are my problem now
Yamato: I can hardly wrap my head around you being a politician.
Kakashi: I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around u nearly getting chakra exhaustion from a spar
Yamato: How many times have YOU gotten chakra exhaustion?
Kakashi: I haven’t kept a count
Yamato: I have. 16.
Kakashi: That’s not bad. 1.4% of missions. Point is that’s what I expect from me, not u
Yamato: Give me a break. I’ve only ever fought you when you had your sharingan. I didn’t account for how much stamina you’d have without it. My hospital check-up was quick and painless.
Kakashi: Easy for u to say, u weren’t awake for the berating when I hauled u in
Yamato: Tsunade-sama or Sakura?
Kakashi: Sakura, thankfully. She still feels bad about hitting me, unlike her shishō
Yamato: Are we in trouble?
Kakashi: Don’t think so. The killing intent stopped after u woke up
Kakashi: Sakura threatened to abandon her post and become a rogue ninja if we ever do it again, but I have a plan for that
Yamato: Do you anticipate Sakura leaving Konoha?
Kakashi: Not really. But after Sasuke I figured the other two should have contingencies, and I kept adding as u and Sai joined
Yamato: Are you saying you have a plan for a scenario where all five other members of our team abandon the village?
Kakashi: Don’t take this the wrong way but I have a 14-step-plan for that scenario
Yamato: Both impressive and concerning.
Kakashi: That’s what they tell me in ninja therapy
Yamato: You have a therapist?
Kakashi: Yeah. Don’t u?
Yamato: Don’t take this the wrong way, but I’ve never been more attracted to you.
Kakashi: Hm. What’s your average amount of attraction to me?
Yamato: I abstain from the question.
Kakashi: 🤔😈㊙️❓

Sakura to Team Thanks for Pardoning Sasuke, Sensei: reminder that our new team photo will be taken tomorrow. naruto buy a hairbrush. sensei and sasuke remember to show up on time
Naruto: i own a hairbrush!! it just doesn’t work on my hair y’know
Sakura: bring it and i’ll help. i’m not breaking another one of my combs
Sasuke: Why do I get lumped in with Kakashi? I’m on time.
Sakura: you missed the last three years of team meetings
Sasuke: Touché.
Sai: Do Yamato-taichō and I need to do anything?
Sakura: i think you’ll both be fine. don’t worry too much about what kind of smile you need. be natural
Sai: I will join you early so we can practice being natural.
Sakura: that’s not what i meant. but sure we can get breakfast
Naruto: me too!!!!
Sakura: NOT ichiraku.
Naruto disliked “NOT ichiraku.”
Sasuke liked “NOT ichiraku.”
Naruto: :(((((((((((( ok
Yamato: Kakashi and I will both have a meeting about the new housing developments first thing. I can make sure we get there.
Naruto: should u be spending so much time together?
Naruto: i don’t want yamato-taichō to catch ur chakra exaustion again kaka-sensei
Kakashi: For the last time, I did not GIVE Yamato chakra exhaustion. U can’t catch it
Sakura: debatable.
Sai: Sakura does offer medical credibility to Naruto’s theory.
Kakashi: Tenzō, tell them.
Yamato: I haven’t ruled it out.
Naruto: SEE. ur contagious sensei
Kakashi: I miss when u all found me intimidating
Sasuke: We never found you intimidating.
Sakura liked “We never found you intimidating.”
Naruto liked “We never found you intimidating.”
Yamato: Didn’t you make them homemade bento on their first day? Not your most menacing tactic.
Naruto: tbh iruka-sensei and jiraiya-sensei had a lot more rules than u
Naruto: ur gonna have to work on that as Hokage!
Sai: If you would like, I can pretend to find you intimidating. I’m a very good actor.
Kakashi: Thank u, Sai. 😔🤘

Anko to Jōnin Gone Wild: @Shiranui Genma, Married, Colleagues, Divorce: Gai, Raidō, Aoba
Genma: Easy. Marry Raidō, Colleagues Gai, Divorce Aoba
Aoba: I understand
Gai: You have ALWAYS been an EXCELLENT Colleague, my friend!!!
Raidō: 👌
Yamato: What kind of a game is this?
Anko: Kakashi invented it. Something about it being a therapy exercise
Kakashi: Actually, my therapist advised against it. But I’m glad we have a new game. Shizune was 2 good at online mahjong
Shizune: You would be too if you grew up with Tsunade-sama. Also your next meeting is 5 minutes. I’ll bring the briefing when I’m upstairs
Kurenai: You know, as Hokage, technically Kakashi is responsible for all active shinobi. He shouldn’t be allowed to date any of his colleagues
Anko: Hahahah, government-mandated celibacy
Kakashi: I’ve been Hokage for like 3 days and none of u respect authority anyways
Kurenai: Are you saying you DO want to date a jōnin?
Anko emphasized, “Are you saying you DO want to date a jōnin?”
Yamato emphasized, “Are you saying you DO want to date a jōnin?”
Kakashi: U think I don’t know a trap when I see one
Shizune: He has a picture of gljljLKHGLJ
Shizune: I would like everyone to know that Kakashi-sama grabbed my phone when I was writing that message.
Kakashi: Aiming for meeting brief. New depth perception with 2 eyes. Talk later bye
--
Yamato to Celibacy Senpai: Explain to me how the game works again. Since we’re colleagues, we can’t be married or divorced?
Kakashi to Comrade Featured in Several GROUP Photos: It’s more of a state of mind
Kakashi: Take for example, if I had u, Yugao and Ibiki. I’d Colleagues Yugao, Divorce Ibiki and Marry u.
Yamato: That implies you were married to Ibiki before me.
Kakashi: Would it affect ur interest in marrying me?
Yamato: No, but I’d wonder why we didn’t get married first. We get along more.
Kakashi: We prioritized our friendship over other potential kinds of bonds
Yamato: I think we've got a pretty good track record for adapting. Besides, spouses should be friends. Anyway, none of this answers the question of why you’d suddenly marry someone else.
Kakashi: We were separated by a tsunami. U lost ur memory and I couldn’t find u so Ibiki and I got together so the kids could have another role model
Yamato: How long was I gone before you moved on?
Kakashi: We co-parented but I didn’t move on. That’s why u and I get married
Yamato: What if I’m more of a long-term-romantic-roommates kind of guy?
Kakashi: I’d make that work
Yamato: In the game?
Kakashi: Sure. In the game
--
Naruto to Team Congratulations Chūbu Sai: i went 2 the yamanaka flower shop for plant food after we met up and u’ll never guess what i saw!! u know the bandana guy?
Yamato: Genma?
Kakashi: Ibiki?
Sakura: Ebisu-sensei?
Naruto: no. sasuke hair
Kakashi: Izumo
Yamato: Izumo.
Naruto: yeah him!! he was buying flowers for that other guy. big stick.
Sakura: 🤨
Kakashi: That’s Kotetsu. And?
Naruto: he was BUYING FLOWERS. for that GUY. for a DATE!!!!!
Sai: Ino tells me it is customary to bring your partner gifts like flowers to show your affection.
Naruto: I DIDN’T KNOW THAT WAS AN OPTION!!
Kakashi: Dating Kotetsu? It isn’t. He’s in a relationship. And he’s too old for u
Naruto: DATING A GUY!!
Yamato: Why didn’t you think it was an option, Naruto?
Naruto: i mean, everyone thinks that way about guys and girls and everyone
Naruto: but no one DOES IT, y’know
Sai questioned “i mean, everyone thinks that way about guys and girls and everyone.”
Sai: Is that true?
Sakura: i think this is the wrong chat to ask that question in
Yamato emphasized, “i think this is the wrong chat to ask that question in.”
Sai: Why?
Kakashi: I can give u a book that will explain it, Sai. Anyway Naruto, people can date anyone they want, within reason. As long as the people involved like each other
Naruto: anyone?
Kakashi: Yeah. Even more than one person at once. Right, Sasuke? 👨🏻‍🎤
Sasuke: What’s that emoji supposed to mean?
Kakashi: I just like to make sure ur phone is on.
Naruto: i gotta go for a walk
--
Yamato to It’s Kakamplicated: I’m going to tell him.
Kakashi to Konoha’s Next Top Anbu (Not a Sex Thing. Maybe A Sex Thing): Give him a few more days, he’ll figure it out
Yamato: …How long did it take you to figure it out?
Kakashi: I abstain from the question
Yamato: 🙄
Kakashi: Fine. 19.
Yamato: Age or years?
Kakashi: Definitely one of those two things. Next question
--
Iruka to Senseis R Us: What have you been telling Naruto?
Kakashi: U’ll have to be more specific
Iruka: Why did Naruto say he was going to hang out with my ex-husband?!
Kakashi: What makes u think I have anything to do with it
Iruka: I didn’t say I was talking to you. However, he was going to see your team and I don’t think Yamato-san is responsible for this!!
Yamato: I’m going to leave this one in Kakashi’s capable hands.
Iruka: Kakashi. What is wrong with you?
Yamato: Becoming a chunin at the age of 6, a strangely public black ops career, a possible attachment disorder and some very interesting tan lines.
Kakashi: That’s the kunai calling the shuriken sharp.
Kakashi: Also I’ll show u some interesting tan lines
Yamato loved “Also I’ll show u some interesting tan lines.”
Kakashi: Anyway. I didn’t say much, Naruto was just curious about our history
Iruka: We don’t have a history??
Kakashi: What about when I reupholstered your sofa?
Iruka: Was that... a romantic activity for you?
Kakashi: This is why we’d never work out, Iruka.
Iruka: Because you text like a member of the cypher corps?
Yamato: It’s not so bad. His birthday messages are very heartfelt.
Kakashi loved “It’s not so bad. His birthday messages are very heartfelt.”
Kakashi: Thank you, Tenzō.
Iruka: Who’s Tenzō?
Yamato liked “Who’s Tenzō?”
Kakashi loved “Who’s Tenzō?”
Iruka: This is going on your performance review as an ex-husband.
Kakashi: That’s fair
--
Yamato to Kakashinova: Have you seen my uniform belt?
Kakashi to Some Kind of Wooderful: I have not. U do keep taking it off every time we eat if that helps?
Yamato: I can’t get used to the placement. But I’ll need to find it or order another one before my next check-in. You know how they are about item counts.
Kakashi: U can use one of mine if u want
Yamato: Your black belt which has Rokudaime Hokage stitched on the inside? I’ll pass, thanks.
Kakashi: I don’t know why they keep putting that on everything. But u can’t see that part while ur wearing it anyway. It’s the same belt
Yamato: Yes, but the Anbu would know it was your belt. I get enough heat for how much time we spend together as it is.
Kakashi: Favouritism?
Yamato: More like wisecracks about holding a torch for you.
Kakashi: Haha why. Do you have a crush on me, Tenzō?
Yamato: You know the answer to this one. Next question.
Kakashi: What makes u think I know the answer?
Yamato: You’re the smartest person in this village. And we see each other every day.
Kakashi: We all have our Shodaime’s nipple
Yamato: Some of us more than most. Let’s try a different question. How many times have we kissed each other?
Kakashi: 7. 9 and a half if u count missions
Yamato: Where are you getting the half from?
Kakashi: CPR
Yamato: Ah. So, in those nine-and-a-half moments... You didn’t have any suppositions? Inferences? Lessons gleaned from experience?
Kakashi: Four and a half of them we’d need to discount for recall, and the last few are harder to report on due to observer bias
Yamato: The observer bias in you gauging my romantic feelings.
Kakashi: Yes
Yamato: Because you would like?
Kakashi: You
Yamato: Me to what?
Kakashi: Long-term romantic roommates, eventually
Yamato: Oh.
Kakashi: Yeah. Do you mind?
Yamato: No, I don’t mind. Maybe we can start with dinner and a walk first?
Yamato: And Kakashi? I long-term romantic roommates you too.
Kakashi: That’s a funny way to ask me on a date. 💘 See u in an hour?
Yamato: It’s on.

Note
why do fans keep saying that itachi loved izumi where do they get that from?? Did I miss something? Because I've read the entire itachi light novel and there was ZERO hint in it about itachi loving izumi back. The ship felt really one sided, I mean yeah sure they could've been cute together but the only thoughts that ever crossed itachi's mind in the novel were about war, the village, sasuke, shisui, his clan. He couldn't care less about romance. Like there was ZERO indication of him having feelings for her, I think him putting her in a genjutsu before she dies is because itachi is a kind person and wanted his freind's last moments to be happy, that was the least he could do for her then. I mean personally if someone who loved me like that was dying I'd want to make sure that their last moments with me are spent 100% however they please. So is it just me?? I see kindness cause I know itachi is not a jerk, and I see care because I know he cares about his loved ones, but where is the romantic love here??? Just because she's female and was in love with him we gotta assume he loved her back?? Some even claim she was his "his girlfreind" ...wtff ??? itachi never had the time.
Anyways, what do you think? And sorry i know this was too long I hope you don't mind.
It's just people whenever there is "love" involved, it has to be romantic/sexual. Every time I see someone making connotations of the romantic love between two individuals, I am reminded of this quote by C. S. Lewis.
Those who cannot conceive of friendship as a substantive love but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros betray the fact that they have never had a friend.
Two people can "love" each other and still not be interested in each other romantically. It's just, platonic love exists.
In case of Izumi, I believe giving Itachi a "lover" makes his story more tragic to some people. Because, oh look, he killed the girl he loved, so tragic! But he didn't actually love her. Fugaku mistakes her for Itachi's girlfriend, but that doesn't mean he had one. They were friends. Itachi had too many things going on and love was not any of his priorities.
She was the first person he killed because she was someone he cared about and thought as a friend. Not because he thought she was the love of his life.
I also feel most of the shippers don't really care about Itachi as a person. He's only a fantasy they need to either fulfill for themselves or for their favorite characters. It holds true for Izumi, Sakura, and even Sasuke.
The two ladies have no personality, so their ship with Itachi works as a self-insert for a lot of fans. And most itasasu fans are also along the same lines. None of them cares about Itachi, but they still ship him with them because the ships centre around the characters he's shipped with instead of himself. That is, these shippers get the gratification on behalf of the characters he's shipped with instead of Itachi himself.
So, Izumi and her ship with Itachi isn't very different. To some people, it makes his story more tragic. There's also a part of the fandom that thinks "Obito destroyed the world for Rin" when he himself says Rin isn't the reason the war is happening. People kind of like to project what they consider more tragic and then twist it to distort canon.
I personally don't take shippers very seriously. It does irritate me, but it's better to not interact with that side for your own sanity.

Prompt: Angst
The moon was full when Kaguya knelt down in the grass above Hokage Rock. She did her best to stifle a yawn, the adrenaline still running through her veins.
Out below her lay Konoha, with all the lights turned out and peacefully asleep. A dark, yet quiet village, happy to rest under the watch of the Hokages of the past and present. All Kaguya had was the moon in the heavens above, its glow making her stand out. Despite her best efforts, she shivered as the memories came flooding back. All the power in the world, and right now she felt more vulnerable than those blissfully unaware of their status.
"Hard time sleeping?"
Kaguya turned her head to see Asura's reincarnat-Naruto. His name was Naruto. She had to remind herself of that every time she looked at him. Yet sitting there with his legs dangling over the side of the monument, acting and looking much younger than he actually was. Well, it was impossible to NOT make the comparisons.
"I don't blame you. I get nightmares sometimes as well," he said nonchalantly. The Goddess didn't respond, keeping her face neutral like she always did. Carefree or not, it didn't feel right to trouble him with her concerns. He had enough on his plate as Hokage after all.
Naturally, keeping quiet just caused Naruto to shuffle a bit closer to her. "Look, I can tell when something's bothering somebody. And it looks like something's eating at you right now."
A sigh escaped her lips. "Your concern is appreciated but isn't needed. My struggles are my own, as are yours. We all have to face them in our own way." What she didn't say was how she felt she was losing hers. Why, it was staring at her in the face high in the heavens right now.
The young man beside her was silent for a moment, gazing up at the moon above them. Then he shrugged. "You know why shinobi always fight in teams? Cause nobody should fight alone. We always need somebody watching each other's back. I mean, I get what you're saying about facing your struggles head on. But it's not like we can't use all the help we need."
"My Clan probably would disagree with you there." And probably berate me for being weak as I am, she bitterly added mentally. Otsutsukis were supposed to be independent, all powerful. Never relying on each other so the burden does not crush others. She wasn't strong enough. Twice she'd been felled by offspring with puny chakras. And who was she to talk about it? She was the one who tried to cast the world into Infinite Tsukuyomi. Truth be told, she shouldn't even be torn up about this. The pain she felt was her failure and punishment. Why should anyone else suffer because of her?
She leaned back a bit, conscious about how visible her face was from the side. Kaguya didn't want him to see broken she was. The shadows of her tresses at least gave her some comfort.
"This is about when you lost to us, isn't it?"
"It's nothing. You won and did what needed to be done. I lost. What more is there to be said?"
"Kaguya-"
"Why have pity for me then? Why care about how I feel right now? You can say all you want about forgiveness, but that doesn't change the fact about what happened. Maybe it's easy for you to forgive, but for others, that's a lot more complicated."
"Kaguya, you're sounding exactly like Sasuke was when we were neck and neck before he left the Leaf."
...for once, the Goddess was silent. Naruto talked quite a bit about his "rival". Despite falling into the same cycle their ancestors had condemned themselves to, they were making an effort to try and break it. As well as could be expected of course. Fact was, Indra's reincarnation wasn't that welcome here outside of family and his closest acquaintances.
"I didn't see it before, but I do now," he continued. "He beat himself up over not being the best. Not that I could blame him for wanting to be the best. When you've got a vendetta against your older brother, you kind of need to push yourself that hard. It didn't make what he did right and it sure wasn't healthy, but I could at least understand it."
"But you just said it wasn't healthy. Isn't that a sign of weakness on his part?"
"Well you can't exactly label anyone entirely good or evil. Trust me, it's not healthy." Naruto leaned forward, as if looking into the distance. "Everyone I fought had a reason to be that way. Sure, I can't necessarily forgive every last one of them. There's some things I can't look past. But if I don't understand why, then what's that say about me? Could I look myself in the mirror and assure myself I'd never end up like them? Or accept that I could and do what I can to make sure it never happens on my watch?"
Kaguya sighed. Yes, he was like Hagoromo. Beneath all the silliness, there was a kernel of wisdom. Poor thing. He wouldn't last one second amongst her kind.
But it wasn't like she had any more left to lose. "...every time I look at the moon, I remember when I was sealed."
Instead of getting a verbal lashing to match the one in her mind, Naruto just motioned her to continue. "Imagine if you had your own chakra turned against you. Imagine being crushed by untold amounts of rock and stone to the point you're at the very core of a celestial object. Imagine that death isn't a release since your body keeps trying to heal itself, causing yet more pain. And then the fact that you believed that you'd be trapped in that agony until the heat death of the universe. Alone, with all the hate and rage burning in your heart eating at everything you thought you were." Kaguya shivered despite her thick robes. Even just talking about it was enough to put her on edge.
"I know I deserved it, but-"
"No, it's okay. You've...got more right than most."
Kaguya glanced over, seeing Naruto bowing his head and looking forlorn. "Don't get me wrong. We did what we had to do, but...hearing it coming from you is something else."
He remained silent, as if unsure what to say. Kaguya had the mutual feeling. Was her former enemy showing sympathy for her sealing? That wasn't right. She deserved it. She was the one that threatened the world. So why was she being shown kindness? Her arms came together, her sleeves trying to wrap herself in a hug.
"...why?" she asked.
"I mean...you are talking to somebody who had a fox sealed inside him when he was a baby. If anybody knows anything about being sealed, it's me."
"Oh. Right." The Goddess had to remind herself that her "children" went through the same thing. Maybe not to the same degree, but somewhere along the same lines.
"Trust me. Kurama was just as pissed as you were for a long time when he was sealed," Naruto explained. "But he eventually came around. And this was the guy who wanted to kill me ever since I was born! I mean, if we could come to terms with each other, why not you and I?"
Kaguya honestly hadn't considered that. From what she knew, the Nine-Tailed Fox did sound like her when she was angry at being sealed. Or being used as some tool for others to exploit. Hell, Madara did try to exploit them both at one point or another.
"Look..." Naruto placed a hand on her shoulder, the warmness seeping through her kimono's layers. "Sometimes we do a lot of stuff that, even if we admit we were justified, leaves us wondering if things could've ended up differently. Then we decide if we really want the same thing to happen again. It's like you said. We live with our choices. They hurt, but it doesn't always mean we can't learn something from them."
The Goddess blinked, before looking at the moon. She let out a dry chuckle, feeling bested by another child. Maybe he was right. Maybe he wasn't. She didn't know. What she did know was that every night, she was going to get another reminder of what she had done and what she went through. And yes, she had wondered time and time again if things could've ended up differently. Perhaps that moon never needed to exist in the first place.
Yet the moon was unchanging. Static. Just like her. And looking across Konoha, she couldn't help but think of the vast chasm between herself and the humans. How could they know? They haven't lived for thousands of years. If they'd been as long lived, would they still be that hopeful?
Kaguya wasn't sure. And she didn't know what truth hurt most. The naivety of the mortal, or the ignorance of the immortal.

Fall into me - Chouji x reader
Song: Fall into me - Forest Blakk
Tumblr media
The day that I met you
The world had just spit me out
.
Where you came from, Heaven was promised to those who fell for the cause, but hell was reserved for those who were enemies, traitors, or cowards. It was as easy as that and as difficult. Because where do those go that don’t die?
You had turned to the closest hidden village, hoping against all odds that they would not spit you out.
.
Konoha had been just a name before then, attached to even more names.
Orochimaru.
Sasuke Uchiha.
The Uzumaki Clan.
Just a few steps into the village you saw a group of Shinobi standing together. A woman with blond hair and two men. Your eyes followed them as you walked past, always on edge, always on the lookout.
A butterfly flew past you, tiny blue wings fluttering in the wind.
The bigger one of the two men held out his hand for the tiny creature, let it rest on his fingertip with a smile on his hand.
When he noticed you staring, you turned and fled.
.
Sure I'd never be found
Then you saw me for me
.
It’s not easy finding your place like Konoha.
Everyone knows everyone and gossip is almost as important as regular training.
Two months into your time here you earn yourself the name “ice princess” because you never show emotion.
Don’t they know that it’s dangerous to be vulnerable?
Haven’t they fought too?
.
“Do you want some?” Choji asks from his place by the fire. He offers you some of the stew he’s been preparing.
It’s the first time one of you has broken the silence since leaving Konoha for this mission.
You shake your head and watch him take the first spoonful into his mouth.
He sighs blissfully and smiles, offering you the bowl again.
“It’s not poisoned.” He tells you. “I tested it.”
You dig in this time, shame curling in your stomach at him having found you out. But shame is quickly displaced with the warmth of his food. It’s the best thing you’ve ever tasted, rich in flavor but even richer in meaning.
Despite his size, Choji’s the first to make space for you.
His eyes might not be as powerful as others, but he’s the first one to see you for what you are.
.
You said close your eyes
I got you now
.
You don’t eat food unless you’re sure it’s not poisoned.
You don’t sleep or sit or stand with your back to the door or the window.
You don’t talk unless directly questioned.
And as if it’s nothing to him, Choji has molded himself around you.
On missions, he offers you his food after he’s tried it.
At group dinners he asks if you want to share your portion, claiming that the portion sizes will be too big for you anyway.
On the rare occasions that you have to sleep in a room with the bed placed between the bed and the window, he curls around you like a giant shield.
He asks questions. Just to hear your answer.
.
“Did you prefer the tomatoes or the peppers?”
“Can you taste the curry powder?”
“What does that cloud look like to you?”
“Did you sleep well last night?”
.
Fall into me and I'll catch you, darlin
We'll dance in the street like nobody's watching
.
Relationships used to be for different people.
People who could go to bed without worrying if they’d wake up tomorrow.
But somewhere along the lines friendship blurred into something more, and trust grew into love.
You’ve learned to let go, knowing Choji will be there to catch you.
.
“I’ve prepared some Bento’s.” He tells you in the morning before he leaves for a mission. “Eat the one with fish first. Mother expects you for dinner tomorrow.”
“Why?” You ask, ignoring the looks you’re getting. You’d rather drop dead than not see him leave properly.
Choji snorts. “She likes you. She wants you around for dinner like usual.”
“But you’re not going to be there.” You remind him, old fears rearing their ugly heads again.
He takes your hand in his, his large palm swallowing yours.
His eyes are warm when he looks at you, able to melt the ice around your heart any day of the year.
“I’m not the only one who cares about you. I’m just the one who loves you the most.”
.
I'm drunk on your voice high on the moment
I'd fall for you twice if that's what you wanted
.
Your laughter rings through the room, a carefree sound.
Choji’s snorting in tune, clearly more amused by your reaction than Choza’s story.
After all, he’s heard it again and again.
Your laughter is much more pleasing to him and his hand finds yours under the table.
“Has Choji told you about the time he managed to bring a whole cake onto a mission?”
Chouza asks. “The fifteenth generation isn’t the only one who can tell some stories.”
You shake your head no, still trying to gather yourself after your laughing fit.
Under the table, you press his hand three times and he can’t help the lovestruck smile breaking free.
You haven’t been able to say it yet, words scaring you more than actions, but you’ve told him in your own ways how you feel.
He knows, his parents know, your friends know that you love him, that he loves you.
There’s a ring in the first drawer of his nightstand, a folder of possible apartments he wants you to look at, and your toothbrush in his bathroom at his parent's house.
He’d fall for you twice if that’s what you wanted and he’s able to wait as long as you need.
You’re his and he’s yours and that’s all that matters.
.
I'd give you my life from now 'til forever
I'm falling in love with you
Over and over again
.
Your wedding is a small affair.
Chouza is the only one left standing of the fifteenth generation of Ino-Shika-Chou, unable to keep from shedding tears when he hears your vows.
“I give you my life. From now on until forever. I am falling in love with you, over and over again.”
Your voice doesn’t shake when you speak, your hands secure in his.
You have been through war together.
After this, everything else will be easy.
.
And I knew my heart wasn't mine
On the day that I met you
My whole world came alive
.
You’ve fought a war, learned to survive in situations that would kill anyone else, have won the fight against eating disorders and paranoia.
But parenthood is a different kind of fight.
There are mornings when Chouji sits by your bed and has to beg for every sip of ginger tea you’re forcing down.
There are nights you sneak out of the house to sit with Chouza, wallowing in a fit of survivor’s guilt.
Some days you miss being Anbu, other days you’re afraid of ever going back.
Some days your body grows and your heart seems to shrink until the only thing that’s left is the love for Chouji and Chouji alone.
.
Love doesn’t have to be like diamonds.
It doesn’t have to endure pressure to earn it’s worth.
But when it endures it gains a preciousness never imagined.
You’d given your heart to Chouji years ago, felt it beat in his hands where it was safe whenever he smiled at you.
But the day that you met your child, the world came alive again.
You found meaning in the eyes of those you loved.
“Fall into me and I'll catch you.”

why is it that when the panel of sasuke’s family is shown after he reject sakura’s love confession it means she “reminds him of the love of his family” and loves her endlessly but when that same panel is used in VOTE1 and after VOTE2 sasuke says naruto reminds him of the love from his family… it’s because naruto is his brother? other than delusional SS hypocrisy LOL
Like I said, SS are foolish hormone filled bags of mush who conveniently skip or misinterpret anything that doesn't work in their ship's favor.
Let's take a look at these moments.
Tumblr media
At this point of time, Naruto has already processed, that Sasuke is trying to actually kill him. He has already said - Can you kill me calmly, Sasuke?
He has already drawn from Kyuubi's chakra (not to be confused with Kyuubi chakra cloak), he has already introspected about his repressed feelings for Sasuke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has already tried to process Sasuke's words when he told him that Naruto was his closest friend. Naruto has already thought of those moments that solidified his feelings for Sasuke during the course of team seven's missions, he has already been reminded of the moment when Sasuke finally acknowledged his strength during the Chuunin exams and told Naruto he wanted to fight him. Naruto has already remembered how it made him so happy to be finally acknowledged by Sasuke, something that he had craved for a long time, as long as he knew him. Naruto thinks about how even though he didn't want to admit it to himself given his stubbornness, but he always looked up to Sasuke and wanted to be like him, reach his level, because he admired him so much. He wanted to befriend him but seeing how they were at such different levels, Sasuke being so popular and skilled, and Naruto being the outsider, the loser, Naruto was dejected but him being him, he simply redirected his energies at being just like him, and made Sasuke his rival. He trained and worked hard and finally reached a point where Sasuke started to take him seriously and then at Chuunin exams, acknowledged him. Naruto knows that Sasuke is not the type of person who would do or say things just for the heck of it. Naruto was under the impression, this whole time, that Sasuke really valued him, cared for him, thought of him as important. So Naruto is obviously devastated that Sasuke would try to kill him. Without hesitation. Naruto couldn't believe that Sasuke would try to kill him, even if he were under darkness.
Sasuke is operating on pure resentment and jealousy towards Naruto at this point. He is reminded of how Itachi wasn't even thinking of Sasuke when he arrived with Kisame to retrieve Naruto, the jinchuuriki. And then the fact that Naruto has gotten even stronger than Sasuke, which is underlined with the hospital roof fight, acts like salt over Sasuke's wounds created by Itachi.
In vote 1, Naruto keeps telling Sasuke that he won't let Sasuke to go over to Orochimaru because Naruto knows Oro's intentions are evil and he wants to take over Sasuke's body. Sasuke is frustrated with Naruto because Naruto doesn't understand what led Sasuke to his decision to go to Oro in the first place. Btw, this was all already envisioned by Oro, who knew Sasuke's goals and motivations, and he knew Sasuke would eventually come to him for more power. Sasuke was vulnerable and Oro did take advantage of that.
So at this point where Naruto is just hell bent upon not letting Sasuke leave, even if he had to break every bone in his body to stop him, Sasuke explodes with frustration and anger. So he remembers his family, because that is the root of it all. His family and his clan are the reasons why Sasuke was so vulnerable in the first place, they are the reason why he wants to get strong, to avenge them, to punish the person, Itachi, who killed them. And so after the family panel, we see this.
Tumblr media
After which Naruto relents and talks about how even if he doesn't know how exactly it feels to lose one's family, he does know something about how it feels to have a family for a person who never had one. He considered Iruka to be his father because Iruka cared for Naruto how Naruto saw other parents caring for their kids. So he projected that on Iruka. And with Sasuke, he projected the idea of having a brother on Sasuke because that's what he thought brothers were like, playing, fighting, teasing each other, getting into trouble together, supporting each other, heh. Sasuke is puzzled because he thinks Naruto's effort in trying to bring Sasuke back is disproportionate with how Naruto acts around him. Which leads to Naruto telling Sasuke, that for Naruto, Sasuke is part of his FAMILY. That he finally was able to make. Someone who was never given one.
The same reason that leads Sasuke to go to such lengths to get strong (even if it means killing Naruto and abandoning Konoha and going to Oro who certainly has evil intentions that Sasuke already knows of) is the reason why Naruto won't let Sasuke go.
And this finally moves Sasuke emotionally to such an extent that he awakens his third tomoe.
Family is the crux of Naruto finally admitting what Sasuke means to him in words that he never admitted to himself before this moment. And family is the crux for Sasuke who is trying to understand why Naruto is going to such an extent to bring him back, when Naruto doesn't really understand why Sasuke is trying to leave. Family. Lack of it for Naruto and loss of it for Sasuke.
Naruto's focus is on the present and future because he finally has a family of which Sasuke is a part, the other being Iruka. And Sasuke's focus is on the past because he had a family to begin with and he wants to get justice for what happened to his family. That's why he says that his dreams are in the past.
In vote 2, the battle has already taken place and Naruto has already confessed to Sasuke (That he hurts beyond belief when he sees Sasuke get messed up carrying those heavy burdens of his) and Sasuke is taken aback by Naruto's admission which then leads to him thinking of his family wherein the emphasis is entirely fixed on the origin of his feelings for Naruto.
Tumblr media
I don't really think it needs to be spelled out, it's pretty self evident, but SS are not so bright. The context is about how Sasuke is finally admitting to himself in so many words what he felt for Naruto from the start. Before this, we didn't really get to see Sasuke's inner thoughts about Naruto like this. Kishimoto had kept it for the end, so as to build intrigue and mystery around Sasuke's character because he is inspired by the bishounen archetype that is typically characterized to be mysterious. It's part of his allure. Sasuke feels very tender for Naruto and he always has, he loves him, which was the entire reason why he wanted to kill him off.
Tumblr media
Here the context was that killing his closest friend would have given him access to Mangekyou Sharingan, as Itachi had instructed him. But in the end, he decides not to. He has a perfect opening but he didn't use it. The reason is simple. If getting strong through achieving mangekyou sharingan requires him to kill his most precious, his closest friend, then he would rather not follow in Itachi's footsteps. He would devise his own methods and he would do it without killing Naruto.
But when Sasuke saw Naruto trying to get attention from people, the way Sasuke tried to, from his own brother, the way Naruto would try and connect with people, someone who was as lonely as Sasuke was at that point, Sasuke started to relate with him. His feelings started to resonate with Naruto's. Their backgrounds might have been different but all it takes is that spark, doesn't it? That point of intersection where you feel connected with someone? That point that makes you feel vulnerable? A certain kindredness? Humans are emotional beings at their core. Sasuke and Naruto were kids who were starved of love. They couldn't relate with anyone else around them. They couldn't talk about their feelings, and it took them a long time to even find the words to articulate them, to even cross that barrier of denial.
Tumblr media
Sasuke admits he felt warm and fuzzy looking at Naruto because here was Naruto, striving for a connection, a bond, that Sasuke once had but had lost, and it made him think of his family. What is this manga about if not about human bonds in the midst of strife? Human ethos and the desire to connect? Naruto and Sasuke's bond being the most elusive type of bond. Most desirable. Rare.
Sasuke considered it a weakness because he knew from experience that connection by nature is double edged. The more you experience love, the more you experience grief when it's lost. It's also true vice versa. The stronger a connection is, the more one suffers at the loss of it. That's why people build defence mechanisms and develop preservation techniques as they grow old. To protect themselves from things that have the potential to hurt them.
Being with Naruto and team seven, Sasuke, a child deeply missing his family, started to heal. The only cure to the pain of a broken heart is love. Like Yashamaru tells Gaara. One cannot fix one's own hurt. You need another person to do it for you. There's just no way around it. Emotional rehabilitation happens when one experiences love and care from another person. Trauma experienced at a formative stage of one's life defines a person in a very crucial way. Disconnect is the core of traumatization. Trauma is not only about what happened to a person but also what didn't happen. What was ignored, denied and not nurtured. When basic emotional needs such as safety, connection and authenticity aren't met, one tenses and disconnects as a survival strategy. For Naruto, it resulted in a destructive behaviour and he got his break when Iruka cared for him to the extent of putting his own life in danger, hence healing Naruto to the extent that his behaviour changed. For Sasuke, he found his emotional needs being met in Naruto and team seven, so he started to recover a bit. But then Itachi visited and it all went to hell, and Sasuke regressed. But Naruto gave him the inspiration and care he required in order to find comfort and emotional support that he had once felt with his family. So he is reminded of his family looking at Naruto. So he felt happy when Naruto was happy. And he hurt when Naruto hurt. Isn't that the meaning of true connection? This intimacy? Oneness?
Now to come to Sakura.
Tumblr media
Let me just say it right off the bat that if you want to know what Sakura is truly like, listen to what Kakashi says about her. And invert it. That's what Sakura is actually like. The exact opposite of what Kakashi thinks about her lol. No seriously. Kakashi is dumb like that. More on it later.
He tells Sasuke, who was just so annoyed with her self absorbed ramblings and suspected she would pointlessly interfere in his business with Naruto, that Sakura was not trying to make him hers (LOLOL), and that she only wanted to save him, she feels for him because she suffers from loving him. Kishi, without fail, treats Sakura's character like this, like I have written in other posts. He would make several characters, Kakashi especially, to say things about Sakura that simply defy what Kishi shows Sakura 'doing'. Storytelling is about show, not tell.
Consider - If a hero is supposed to be super powerful and an awesome leader and the writer shows supporting characters admire him for it, but then establishes the hero getting defeated over and over again, with unsuccessful strikes and worse strategies, what would happen? What impression would it create in the audience's mind? It would certainly cancel out the impression that the hero is strong or clever or a good leader, won't it?
Narrative and visual language are intuitive by nature. Always. That's how stories are written. What are stories but intricately designed psychological manipulation? A story works on the principle of suspension of disbelief where a talented creator would create such a universe and a narrative that it wouldn't matter if it's fantasy or sci fi, not only the reader would find it immersive but would also relate to the characters and the story, resonate with them and as a result, get really invested. That's how a reader would enjoy a story. What is shown and how it's shown is an inherent building block of this suspension of disbelief which is, without a doubt, required for the reader to interpret and correctly understand a character in a given narrative. So what does Kishi do with Sakura (and Hinata but that goes without saying) in this regard? He subverts it. How? Show don't tell right? But Kishi? With Sakura, he tells. But shows the exact opposite. Lol. He tells, aka, makes several characters 'say' positive things about Sakura, but then right in the next panel, or next page, or the next chapter, or three chapters down, makes her do something exactly the opposite of it. Lol. It's true. He does it so fucking consistently but so shrewdly, that most fans aren't able to clock it. This is why so many fans hate her character. Because they are so disappointed in her. All credit to Kishi. This is ALL Kishi's doing. That clever fox!! Lol. If you were irritated/frustrated with her, it's because Kishi wanted you to. It's not coincidental or accidental. Nothing is. It's all psychological manipulation. He understands perception very well, any creator in the written/visual/audio-visual field is literally taught to manipulate the reader/viewer. That's why you like film makers like Nolan or David Fincher or Hitchcock or Tarkovsky. Because they know how to manipulate the viewer, as they understand the concept of perception so well. So they will use narrative/literary/audio-visual tools and tricks to manipulate you. This is all textbook btw. If you go to film schools, that's what they would teach you there. Deconstruct any film by a good film maker and you can tell exactly why and where a moment hit you hard or affected you. Always, always ask - Why?
And soon you will understand the How of it.
The 'why' of it is based on the effect of a certain moment or moments on the reader. With Sakura, the effect on one's mind (if one is truly following the story for the story's sake and not shipping) is always irritation, frustration, dissatisfaction, and disappointment. Because barring a couple of moments, she always ends up ruining the heightened expectations, that Kishi deliberately builds up with such effort, with some anti climactic action that Kishi makes her perform at the last moment.
Subversion. It's not only that which happens in a narrative, but also what doesn't happen in the narrative (something that the plot was building towards) that affects the reader/viewer and forms their impression of a character.
Anyway. So here, you see Kakashi failing to see Sakura's faults, which he does very consistently (don't even consider that Kishi was doing it unintentionally lol, it is testament to Kishi's talent as a writer that he does it not only consistently but so cleverly, that most fans aren't even able to tell how it happened but it does happen) and tell Sasuke that Sakura suffers from loving Sasuke. So when Sasuke says - "Perhaps those are ties of a failed past", he means to say the same thing that has been established before.
Tumblr media
That Sakura 'suffers' because she is still hanging on to the past. A past where Sasuke still cared for team seven. And Sakura is also shown to consider a Sasuke from the past, where she thought he cared for her.
Tumblr media
Of course, Sakura also has a selective memory because she only remembers what she wants to remember and forgets the rest, and if not forget, certainly dismisses it. Narcissism works like that. Anything that doesn't speak in a narcissist's favor will be dismissed/forgotten/repressed by the narcissist. It's important for that to happen so they can keep believing in what they want without question or introspection. If you don't think about it, it's not there. Lol. Sakura was obviously working from the memory of some past moments where Sasuke showed consideration for her. She obviously forgot that in the same scene, Sasuke also mocked her for her inability to change and for being the same shallow person she always was, who hadn't changed at all from when she had insulted Naruto for being an orphan, when Sasuke had mocked her the first time. Sasuke knows that she is a person who wouldn't change. I think he hoped, when team seven was still working together, that Sakura would change and become a better person, but then she confesses to Sasuke (when he is leaving Konoha) by making it ALL about herself while totally erasing Sasuke's own concerns. Which makes him say - Heh, I knew it. You will never change.
And she doesn't.
Anyway, coming back, Sasuke thinks of his family because what Kakashi says to him reminds him of his own family and how ties of the past can make you suffer. Like how Sasuke suffered.
Just like how Sakura 'suffers' (lol, maybe that's why she decided to kill him in Kage arc but then obviously couldn't do it) because she can only remember the Sasuke who once cared. Yes, it's true that she very conveniently ignores all the other moments that went along with that moment but lol, it's Sakura. She was written as self absorbed, imperceptive and shallow so it is totally in character for her. Even here, she makes the confession all about her, as if Sasuke would care. She wants to go to the old days, just like how Kakashi thinks that everything is back to how it was in the old days in chapter 699, when so many things actually have changed. Sasuke has changed, he is more mature, more knowledgeable, more aware of his reality. Naruto has changed, he is not the same person, emotionally. He has met his parents, he has saved the world, he has resolved to make the world a better place, he has understood the vicious cycle of love and loss and hatred. Nothing is the way it was. Which is highlighted even more in Gaiden and Boruto. Naruto and Sasuke are just the husk of the people they once were. But both Kakashi and Sakura had to be imperceptive, characterization wise, because if they were more perceptive, they probably would have not ignored how Sasuke and Naruto really felt for each other, Sakura would have treated Naruto and Sasuke much better, and Kakashi would have been more perceptive of Sakura's true nature, and empathetic towards Sasuke, given he knows the truth of Uchiha massacre. Like it would have been a narrative problem if Kakashi and Sakura were written to be emotionally perceptive people. A narrative at the end of the day, has to be believable, or else the psychological manipulation wouldn't work.
So yeah. These are the different contexts to these different moments where Sasuke thinks of his family.
SS would benefit a lot if they just paid attention to the story and let their intuition do its job. But I think their intuition was sacrificed at the altar of pink cotton candy girlboss Sakura that Sasuke the hot and popular boy 'loves' so much. Lol.

Soooo I’ve got a WIP where Sasuke Uchiha dies not long after fighting Itachi, before Obito declares war but after Sasuke vows vengeance, and he’s reborn as Portgas D Ace.
He’s bitter, resentful of the world around him, and purposeless. Being raised by bandits does make him more uncouth and rough: despite having his memories, brain chemistry and hormones don’t work like an adult’s, and he does imprint a little bit on them. He befriends Sabo at first because the blonde hair reminds him of Naruto, but ends up so so much closer and realizes actually, they aren’t really anything alike. Chakra isn’t a thing in this world, or if it is, Ace’s body doesn’t seem to have it, so it’s almost like starting over from the beginning for him. Despite that, Sabo keeps up with him step for step, right behind him, and part of him actually gets really really attached.
Then, Luffy shows up and does what Luffy is known for(picking up broken people and putting the pieces back together). Ace develops his own dreams of freedom and his own family with his brothers at his side. For the first time since the Uchiha clan died, he laughs and smiles and dances and plays.
It’s slow-going, of course. No personality trait that deeply ingrained will disappear overnight. But by the time Ace is leaving for his journey at 17, he smiles wide and free without hesitation. By the time Luffy and Ace meet up in Alabasta, he’s able to laugh, to wrestle with his crewmates, to joke and party with them all.
(The self-hatred never completely disappears. Without Konoha left to blame, there is only himself. And, over the years he has grown and matured and learned, he thinks he understands a bit better where Itachi was coming from, when he chose Sasuke and Konoha over the Uchiha.
A lot better, actually, he thinks one night before leaving Dawn Island, Luffy cuddling into his neck in his sleep like the baby koala he is.
More than he expected, he thinks, traveling from island to island and seeing dictators and tyrants and militias of all forms, but also seeing the hope and despair, the optimism clutched with white-knuckles fingertips, that the innocent civilians fight for.)
(Luffy talks a lot. Often, he says things that hit hard, that stick with you forever, without meaning to. He sees the world seem so simply, and sometimes Ace can get a glimpse of it, too.)
(Ace told Luffy about his past. Not usually in detail, and often in the form of bedtime stories in third person.)
(It’s amazing, the way Luffy sees the world. It really, really is)
(But why would he want to destroy them? He asks, when Ace tells the story of a boy who learned everything he knew was a lie, and vowed to burn his village to the ground.
Because they ordered the deaths of his family, Ace explained again, annoyed at the line of questioning. Wasn’t it obvious?
But Luffy rolled his eyes. No! Only that one asshole did. Only a few knew!
But-, Ace tried to interject, to point out, to defend himself.
And wasn’t his brother’s whole sacrifice to protect the village, too? Why would he ruin that?
Ace didn’t respond. He didn’t know how to.)
The story itself is actually set much later, when Marineford occurs and Ace actually wakes up his Sharingan in an effort to get him and Luffy the FUCK out of there, accidentally ripping a hole through space and time and stumbling back into his world. It’s mostly focused on Konoha’s reaction to the way Sasuke has changed in his new life, and Luffy and Ace’s attempts to go back home.
For Ace, it’s been 20+ years since he left. He’s had time to come to terms with everything, to accept that the people who hurt him were dead even in the other world, to find his happiness and laugh.
For Konoha, it’s been barely a few months.

some people (mainly dudebros) dunk on sasuke saying his kill count is low but that is because he consciously does not want to kill.
Tumblr media
the way he acts in shippuden is to sever bonds by masking it as ‘killing intent’ — see gaara during 5 kage summit, karin during the danzo fight, sakura at the bridge place where he defeats danzo and putting sakura in genjutsu.
throughout his fights with naruto, it seems he only truly wanted to kill him twice: once is during the first half of vote1 where he aims for naruto’s heart but naruto makes him miss:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
his only reason to kill naruto is due to itachi’s advice, which he shuns at the end of vote1 (also very conveniently after naruto’s speech on bonds and friendship and what they mean to each other).
itachi killed indiscriminately, and so sasuke was going to do the complete opposite.
from then on, he does not kill anyone else other than who aligns with his goal — orrochimaru, itachi, danzo, vote2!naruto.
Tumblr media
their first meeting after 2 years? zero threat to naruto because he had his eyes set on itachi and only itachi. it was more for sasuke to remind naruto he wanted to sever their bond, but there was no killing intent.
Tumblr media
words don’t match actions. their meeting at the bridge was also merely to fight and be transported to that place where naruto and sasuke can speak in their own bubble/world. it’s also the place where he hears naruto’s ‘confession’. this was another fight to sever their bond.
finally here at vote2 is the second time and final time that sasuke really wanted to kill naruto. the intent was there, and he put it into action because now sasuke knows that to sever their bond once and for all, he would have to kill naruto.
Tumblr media
vote2 is the only time in shippuden that sasuke sees no other choice than to kill naruto so he can be a kage who shoulders all the evil and burdens of the ninja world. it’s sweaty-palmed desperation.
naruto’s actions can be seen through haku’s influence on him as a genin (know who your precious person is and do all it takes to protect them). how sasuke acts is influenced by itachi, but in the complete opposite way (the slaughter of an entire clan translates into his not killing anyone on the periphery).

Which dynamics did you pick for the other rookie 9? For the sfw BDSM au
Yes! Questions! Okay, here's what I have:
Reminder on terms, switches need both domming and subbing in their lives, versatiles can do either, but only need one. Neutrals need none, but some still like it for fun. Like real people I guess.
Team 7:
Kakashi - Versatile - He's a versatile with a preference for subbing, who has never subbed. lol. He will dom just often enough to keep himself mentally stable enough to avoid a domdrop or subdrop. His nature is to enjoy either subbing or domming, but his nurture has made him more inclined to sub.
Sakura - Dom - She was very insecure about her presentation. Ino presented first (sub) and she wanted to be like her, not to mention, her parents started treating her differently from that point and it messed with her head a bit. It isn't until she's older that she comes into her own and accepts herself.
Naruto - Switch - Vibes. He doesn't care. He barely knows what this means. He thinks both Sakura and Sasuke are very dramatic, because it's not like dynamics impact their shinobi work, so who the hell cares!
Sasuke - Sub - Hates it. Despises this part of himself with every fibre of his being. Rejects it. He becomes more antagonistic to fight against his urges on principle. Kakashi is very tried of dealing with it.
Yamato - Artificial neutral - As all Root and ex-Root agents, Yamato is a neutral. It is unclear whether he is naturally that or not. No one knows how Orochimaru figured out how to change dynamics, but Danzou used his methods with great success. Sasuke was probably tempted away from Konoha partly for that. (Yamato would have actually presented as a sub, but no one knows that.)
Sai - Artificial neutral - Same as above except Sai was actually a neutral all along. He also doesn't know that. He finds the whole thing much easier to accept than Yamato though, which might hint that he'd been a neutral all along, while Yamato was mourning a part of himself instinctively and tends to pine over what could have been. He probably tries both subbing and domming to see what it's like at least once though.
Team 10:
Asuma - Dom - He loves being a dom and is lowkey a bit cocky about it.
Shikamaru - Dom - He says that he wishes he were a neutral so he didn't have to deal with any of this, but he doesn't really mind being a dom really. It makes his work feel quite fulfilling and the way he doms is low effort so 🤷🏻‍♀️
Ino - Sub - She is also incredibly proud of being a sub. She recognises and truly believes that the sub role is the most powerful, and loves having such an easy way to relax. Like, she can relax completely by doing chores as long as someone tells her to, doms wish they could get chores and relaxation done at once!
Chouji - Sub - He's pretty relaxed about his dynamic. He's glad he's not a dom, he finds that role intimidating, so I guess he's happy to be a sub. He does sometimes let Shikamaru dom him with a platonic scene.
Team 8:
Kurenai - Versatile - She's a versatile who's currently an acting sub with Asuma. Being a versatile always felt like the best dynamic for her. She wasn't ever limited on partners, platonically or otherwise, and versatiles are inherently less likely to drop. She's just quietly happy with her presentation. It also helps her relate to all her students (bar Shino) and help them properly through the confusing mix of presenting and puberty.
Hinata - Sub - She wishes she weren't a sub because she thinks that maybe her father would love her more is she weren't. :(
Shino - Neutral - His entire clan is neutral. It's one of their clan quirks. He finds the whole dom sub thing very confusing and mildly disconcerting. He is a neutral who doesn't like the idea of participating at all, even just to try.
Kiba - Switch - He's a little insecure as a child because he really wanted to be a dom, but when he's older he embraces it. Adult Kiba's favourite way to engage in scenes is sexually, so being a switch opens the most doors for him, and he's very smug about that.

SNS Dynamics - Sasuke's Perspective
Lengthy post ahead
On completing my rewatch of Naruto part I and part II, many things which never made sense started to make sense. One among them is the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. I used to ask why Naruto is going so far for Sasuke. And why Sasuke is helping out Naruto even though he wants to kill him. And I used to think that Episode 478 was retconned to make the final battle ends in a draw and Sasuke somehow made to reconcile with the titular character. Yet, I instinctively felt, ‘Something is very different about them’. But on careful rewatch, all the clues which consolidate their relationship was there. The way they love each other is totally on a different level and the creator very carefully planned this from the beginning of the Manga.
Though I really don’t like the ending for making every characters into a child rearing machine at an age of 20 to make way for an abomination called ‘Boruto’, I still loved everything till Episode 479.
I wanted to discuss about both Naruto and Sasuke's perspective. But that cannot be accommodated in a single post. So, I decided to start with Sasuke. Since Naruto's side of SNS is very open and vocal, we clearly knew what is going on in his mind. But Sasuke's side is usually very subtle but much more intense than Naruto which makes it worth analyzing.
Before getting to that, for most of the characters in the Naruto universe (I mean 99%), Sasuke is a person who looks cool, aloof, rude, overbearing, blunt, genius and emotionless. And that’s the truth. Except for Itachi and Naruto. So when I say he is rude or arrogant, it is from the people’s POV.  And since I always see myself in Itachi, I see Sasuke as that adorable innocent child who is very honest but forgiving.
I strongly feel that Sasuke has some innocent enchantment towards Naruto ever since he lost his family which later transcended into a bond which cannot be put under Friendship or Bromance. Enchantment, here I meant by, is not in a sexual way but more like the unconscious need to be in the presence of other person. Like walking beside each other eternally. Or even warming up next to a campfire near a chilly beach. You don’t want to fall into the fire but just enjoy the warmth. It maybe totally a platonic love like many claims to be. But his absolute disinterest in any other characters (even just as a friend) and the following traits he shows only to Naruto are clearly not just distinctive of platonic love either. It’s completely beyond platonic.
The following are the traits which Sasuke shows only towards Naruto, could have been avoided or delegated to other characters if the creator really wanted to assert their relationship as just friendship. There are lot of subtexts and emotions which I cannot accept it under the guise of bromance or friendship. It’s just not possible. If someone you like shows all these traits to another person, you should stop thinking about that person and move on.
The traits are :
Preferential Treatment
Attentive
Protective
My body moved on its own
One and Only
Powerful Eyes
Unconscious Closeness
Preferential Treatment
This is the very basic and first thing you show to someone whom you love. Meaning, I will treat this person much different from everyone else. When I was exploring this trait, I couldn’t stop laughing in many places. Because Sasuke is such a trolling machine who mercilessly trolls people who are in his way. He also inspire certain amount of fear which makes him even more unapproachable.
He has this cold bearing where people find it extremely difficult to manage or approach him. It comes off as very rude most of the times. One such example is Sai told Sasuke that he will get along better with him than Naruto. Sasuke put a Genjutsu on him for comparing himself with Naruto. LOL.
Tumblr media
What's more funny is most people (Sakura, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Sai, Hinata) usually talk to him politely with honorifics like 'Sasuke-kun'. But he didn't give two shits about them and shitted them all mercilessly.
Here is the infamous proposal from Sakura in part 1.
Tumblr media
Well she deserved this one to be honest. Throughout the entire conversation Sasuke never saw her face and responded very bluntly even though she was pouring her heart out crying. There was no visible distress or sadness from Sasuke’s side.
Whereas with Naruto, in the final Valley of The End, we saw him turning towards Naruto and answer him properly when Naruto asked the same question of what Sakura asked. There were so many emotions throughout the battle and Sasuke’s pain of leaving Naruto was clearly shown. Which explains the difference of where Sasuke keeps Naruto in his heart.
The following is the one from Chunin Exams prelims where Sakura is begging for him to quit with tears. The response is an usual 'Stay out of my business'.
Tumblr media
Me: Sasuke!!!! Even I don't know how to approach you!!!! I understand you don't like to talk unnecessarily so you just shitted on Sai. But Sakura is your teammate, isn't it?
And then there is this little orange blonde who literally trolls Sasuke.
Tumblr media
I really thot Sasuke was going to trash Naruto too, like he could have easily said, 'Naruto, you should also stay out of my business'.
But then
Tumblr media
These words are something precious for Naruto. He wished for these words to come from Sasuke someday in his lifetime. But not at that time. And he was truly shocked and very excited. Believe me, when watching that scene, it was really great. But while making analysis like this, it’s absolutely hilarious.
This dynamics is similar to
Sakura: *cries unbearably* Sasuke-kun, I am worried about you. Don’t act so strong.
Sasuke: Shut up. Mind your own business.
Naruto: Bastard! She is worried about you.
Sasuke: Alright, I love you. Now shut up.
ROOOFFFFL :-D
I thought all these childhood bickers were over by part 1 and we will never see it in part 2.
Nope. I was wrong. Kakashi and Sakura were the scapegoats here.
Tumblr media
Here's another round of applause from Naruto.
Tumblr media
And I honestly cannot comprehend what was going on in Sasuke's mind and why he is really rude to Sakura and Kakashi. It seems he was really irritated by their presence or he maybe thinking they were useless or both.
Tumblr media
When Naruto asks him something, he responds without any insults. What baffles me most is that during Infinite Tsukuyomi, Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto for his Revolution and awaiting his fated battle. And yet he answers him properly.
Can you see the pattern here?
He shits on people asking some question even with an utmost polite attitude but when Naruto asks the same question he was like "Alright Sweetie, Am gonna answer anything you want and say anything you like".
The following is the beginning of everything where Naruto can't even swear properly but still Sasuke couldn't even bother.
Tumblr media
In short, the way he treats Naruto is quite different and hilarious when compared to the others. With his cold bearing, he absolutely has no need to put up with Naruto's outburst but he still accepts without a care every time. RIP to those souls who got the short end of the stick.
He must have an extreme tolerance towards Naruto's tirades to the point where he can never insult him back. And I also believe 100% that, nobody dares to make such frequent insults on Sasuke to his face except Naruto.
I know SK shippers jump in here to say Naruto is not the only one. But still the dynamics between Karin and Sasuke is simply a mirror image of Naruto and Sasuke, probably she reminded him of Naruto and hence made some exceptions for her because Sasuke never gives a damn about any other clan other than his own, but when Kabuto tells him Karin belongs to Uzumaki clan, he was shocked. I am pretty sure the only other Uzumaki member he knew is none other than Naruto.
Now, does this means he is in super love with Naruto? No.
But the way he treats every other characters and how he treats Naruto exclusively speaks volumes and this trope shouldn’t have existed in the first place. The creator should have made Sasuke treat both of his teammates equally which could’ve deflected the shipping angle.
Attentive
Am not talking about how attentively he analyzes his enemies in the battles. Of course, in that department, Sasuke flies high. This is about how attentive he is to Naruto to the point where he can deduce what Naruto thinks and how Naruto looks without the need to communicate with him.
I know Sasuke suspected Sakura was acting strange before Chunin Exams when she said 'Good Morning' with some hesitation. But the difference here is that Sasuke can identify Naruto without even talking to him.
Funny thing here is that Sasuke was sitting somewhere far behind from Naruto and yet he could pick up Naruto getting freaked out without seeing his face.
Tumblr media
Who could forget about the famous ‘Where’s real Naruto?’ episode during Chunin Exams?. It would’ve been fine if this happened once. But the creator went ahead and made this thing happen twice under entirely different situations. And everytime Sasuke can find fake Naruto without fail. This scene conveys Sasuke is very observant towards Naruto’s appearance & fighting skills (the way he evades an attack).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, being attentive to someone is not a special thing which attributes to love. But considering Sasuke’s personality who is aloof and focused on his own world, knowing Naruto like the back of his hand  is way too descriptive. Only someone who really understands the other person or constantly paying attention can find out such subtle changes. It doesn’t end here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the battle between Gaara and Naruto. Where Naruto was literally confused about how to save his friends from Gaara who is much more powerful. And yet Sasuke can find Naruto’s mood just by seeing him.
Me: Yes, Sasuke!!! Gaara happened to pass by Naruto and forgot to kill him on a whim!!! So, Naruto is scared to the shit!!
Also Me: You guys always bicker with each other and are not best of friends. Sasuke!!! How could you analyze his mood just by looking at Naruto????
Tumblr media
In Shippuden, There’s no inner monologue like the above, but whenever Naruto appears before him (Orochimaru’s hideout, Bridge, War arc), Sasuke gives his undivided attention to him. He even went so far as to advice him to pay attention to the battle. And I was like “Wait!!! you wanted to kill him... why pay attention to him at all? Geez”.
As much as you want to think that Sasuke doesn’t care about anyone, he does care about Naruto to the point where he doesn’t want him to be worried. How thoughtful just for a ‘teammate’.
Tumblr media
How did Sasuke knew that Naruto would worry about him?, I wonder.
But all these things started from this
Tumblr media
This boy has been noticing Naruto from way back when he was around 7 when he lost his family. Of course he would know every little things about Naruto because for some undefinable reason he couldn’t stop paying his attention to Naruto. A lineup of girls vying for his attention because of his cool appearance, whereas Sasuke simply loved Naruto without any reservations but because of his childish and warm personality which reminded him of his family.
‘I couldn’t stop paying attention to you’  and in some translations the words were ‘I couldn’t take my eyes off you’. Either way, these words are not for someone you see just as a friend let alone a brother.
Protectiveness
I can go on and on about how protective Sasuke is towards Naruto. I can write a separate post about it. This is the most important aspects of this ship which makes it sail higher than any other ships.
Of course, this is the Ninja world where people wants to protect each other and at the same time kill each other too. Sasuke protecting Naruto and Naruto protecting Sasuke is not too special. In fact, one of the weak and pathetic character like Sakura was saved once in every three episodes by Naruto or Kakashi or even by Sasuke sometimes.
And yet here I am mentioning protectiveness as the most important aspect of this ship. So what differentiates?
The way Sasuke protects Naruto is one of the intense thing I’ve ever seen. When I watch this series, I gained this immense ability to put myself in other characters mind just like Naruto. When I put myself in Sasuke’s mind whenever he tried to protect Naruto under different conditions, I simply cannot put their relationship under Friendship.
Tumblr media
Here, Naruto is fighting Gaara in part 1 and Naruto was repelled by his own attack from the paper bomb. Sasuke being already battered by his curse mark bruise and he couldn’t move an inch. And yet he is shielding Naruto even though it is completely unnecessary because Naruto bumping into a tree log is completely normal. The creator even went under a lot of pain to draw that panel which took 40% of the page.
Tumblr media
Now you may question, many characters even died protecting someone. What’s so special with just shielding?
Like Hinata jumping in for suicide before Pain, Iruka blocking Mizuki’s attack, Tsunade blocking Orochimaru, Neji dying as a ‘Love Cupid’ for hinata and Naruto.... I can cite many things here. What’s common among them all is that they were all perfectly capable of moving around and yet decided to save Naruto.
But that’s not the only point.
Is there any need for him to save Naruto? No.
Will Naruto die if he didn’t shield him? No.
Then why? He could have spent that energy trying to do something for Sakura rather than do a pointless shielding.
And then there is Kushina.
Naruto’s mom was already on the verge of dying as she had Kurama extracted from her body and Jinchuriki without a Tailed Beast will die. Because of Uzumaki clan’s strong life force, she could hold off for a bit longer. When kurama attacked Naruto, she shielded him with her body and saved her son from an imminent death.
Tumblr media
Even though Sasuke didn’t die shielding him, but there is a semblance.
Both protected Naruto even when their body condition is worse. That is, Protect at all cost attitude.
I intended to put Land of the Waves arc here as it is very similar to what happens with Kushina. But that’s for an upcoming section.
Now, as a Mother her instinct to protect Naruto is very strong.
But who is Naruto for Sasuke? What makes his instinct so strong to protect someone who is not even related by his blood? Until and unless you love that person dearly you won’t do it.
That brings me to the next thing.
Tumblr media
Yeah, it kind of looks ‘very friendly’ to give a 3 layered protection to someone who is already powered up like you and most importantly you want to kill him.(Can I say that looks really romantic?). Anyways my point is different.
What really happens here is this
Tumblr media
It is a well established fact that Minato, the Yellow Flash is the fastest shinobi in Narutoverse. It wasn’t surpassed yet. He uses the Hiraishin No Jutsu to teleport at the speed of light. It was invented by none other than Tobirama Senju who is the fastest shinobi of his time.
We basically have two fastest shinobi in the battlefield here. And Minato being the fastest among them, definitely don’t want to blow up near his son for whom he died protecting him once. He wanted to teleport somewhere away and before he could do it, Tobirama teleported the bomb back to Obito.
What many fails to notice here is that all these things are happening in mere seconds. But Sasuke realized it real quick as usual and protects Naruto in an instant. How fast his instinct you may ask? Quicker than the two fastest shinobi on the battlefield and one among them is Naruto’s dad.
What I want to say is Sasuke’s protective instinct is quicker than Naruto’s father and similar to Naruto’s mother.
And you know, I questioned myself during the Chunin Exams arc “I think in the Zabuza arc, Naruto conveniently happened to be near Sasuke, So he protected him at the cost of his life. What if Sakura happens to be there? Would he have done the same? Maybe he would’ve died protecting her too.”
But all of my questions were thrown into drain by Sasuke as if he was able to read my mind. The answer is “Hell! I don’t care if she died. That’s her loss. I will not die for her sake.”
Tumblr media
This is really confusing, hilarious and romantic at the same time.
Me: Sasuke!!! I understand why you want to save Jugo... Even though you abandoned him in the Land of Iron. LOL. What are you going to do with Naruto anyway when the whole world is blasted off?
He proved this again in the Kaguya’s Lava dimension too. Before you tell me that he saved Naruto because he needs him to seal off Kaguya, the previous scenario nullifies your argument.
Tumblr media
And SS wankers shamelessly defending that Sasuke don’t want Sakura to die by Kaguya’s hands, that’s why he left her to die. Geez!!! Who the hell is Sakura to Kaguya anyway? Even if she were to die by Kaguya’s hands, it would almost look like how Obito died. It’s not bad at all. But falling into the lava pit, burning, screaming.... sssshhhh. Wake the f**k up!!!
Now how can you convince me that this is just Friendship? What’s more funny is Sasuke wanted to kill Naruto later at some point. Throughout the War Arc I was always confused as to why Sasuke even care about Naruto at all? He didn’t care about him ever since he left him 3 or 4 years ago and he doesn’t have to. After all everyone have their own paths to walk on.
Even if I put myself in Sasuke’s mind and see Naruto just as a friend whom I want to kill, I wouldn’t go under so much pain to save him. I would feel like it’s better for him to die by something else rather than me. Because I can’t bring myself to kill someone I know well.
These scenes are not just put there by chance.
Such a strong reflex to protect someone is only possible when you consider that person’s life more than yours.
Does any other ship has such things to show? I’ll wait.
Yeah Sasuke protected Sakura from Orochimaru and Gaara. But he also went so far to wait for Karin and awakened a new power to protect her. So does this means he love those girls?? No. He was just showing a team camaraderie. But it’s funny that later, he tried to kill those girls knowing full well they are unprepared to fight him. While with Naruto, it always comes with a warning. Try to understand this difference. Which is exactly why I didn’t put Sasuke saving Naruto during his Chakra training, or falling from the waterfall and many more. Because they are just a team camaraderie.
I don’t even have to compare with other ships, did Sasuke ever protected anyone like this in the whole series?. These are the things which could’ve been avoided or handled in a different way, like there was no need to emphasize on saving Naruto alone while ignoring others.
My body moved on its own
I don’t need to explain this any deeper. There are many people who says Sasuke is incapable of showing his true feelings. He is cold, rude, aloof and stoic so he always hides his feelings for everyone (mostly this line was used by Sakura wankers who wanted to portray that Sasuke always loved Sakura deeply but never shows). But they fail to understand the irony that one of the most beautiful line in this entire series was told by none other than ‘Sasuke Uchiha’, “My body moved on its own”.
Yet I find Sasuke shows his honest and heartful emotions before the people he loves. If he can show that to Itachi and Naruto, why not with Sakura?
I know those wankers try to say Sasuke repressed all his feelings until Chapter 698, so he has some romantic feelings for Sakura too. Bullshit!!!
Even though he repressed those feelings in his mind, his body always betrays him in the end and his feelings pours out from time to time. That is what this section explores about.
Man, this is the most painful GIF I have ever made.
Tumblr media
In his battle with Itachi, he was completely consumed by the feeling of revenge and hatred for his brother. But when Itachi approached him in his final moments with an intention (seemingly) to snatch his eyes, he still couldn't push Itachi away though he could have. Sasuke just looked into his eyes and let him do whatever he was about to do.
Why?, Because he loved his brother so much once that he don't know what to do but simply embrace that moment. These are the moments your mind says to close your eyes or even run away (he totally could have) but his body will not allow him to.
This is what I meant by your body betrays yourself. Even in your darkest moments, you cannot fake. You always show your true emotions towards the person you love. The more you suppress, the more it will burst out.
Tumblr media
Here Sasuke’s hatred is glaring through his eyes because Sakura is persuading him to not do something he wants to (as always). His only motivation is to kill that man. His resolve is a real deal.
But in a matter of minutes after giving that long hateful speech with some heavy determination, when he saw that hungry blonde boy who was tied up for trying to steal food, Sasuke just acted on his own and served him food even though he was told not to which could jeopardize his career.
Tumblr media
This bipolar dance is something to notice throughout the series and is always interesting to explore. When Sakura tries to dissuade Sasuke from something, he always retorts to insults or an angry stare. But when Naruto accidentally stands in Sasuke’s way, he always involuntarily helps him out.
In short, towards Sakura he was like “Even you cannot take that path away from me” but when turning towards Naruto, he was like “Well, I can risk everything for you at the cost of my path”.
This seals the real deal for SNS ship.
Tumblr media
At this point, for us viewers, Naruto is just an orphan who has no friends but always carries his life with a positive spirit hoping that someday he will be accepted by everyone.
Unbeknownst the fact that he already has one person who was willing to die for him and putting all his dreams into fire.
Tumblr media
Important thing to notice, It’s entirely at Naruto’s fault for them being in this situation. If Naruto had used a bit of brain to attack from outside the mirror, they wouldn’t have been in this situation. But still Sasuke plunged into the trap without any regrets. That’s the beauty of this scene.
What’s more thrilling is that the creator told us Sasuke loved Naruto in the very next chapter itself.
How?
Tumblr media
By making Haku jump before Zabuza knowing full well that he is going to die which is not very different from how Sasuke shielded Naruto.
Tumblr media
And not only that, but by making Naruto say “He really loved you”. I got to say the creator may sucks at writing Sakura and Hinata for God only knows for whatever twisted reasons. But when it comes to male characters like Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Obito... he was just amazing and on another level.
How?
By indirectly drawing parallels between Sasuke and Haku in a matter of successive chapters.
By dropping indirect hints and crumbs like these to tell us, the audience, the motivations of the characters.
I always had the thought why did he risked his life for a boy who always fights with him? This became more emotional when we get to know the real reason for why Sasuke risked his life much later in chapter 698.
Tumblr media
Having faced all the turbulent things in his life, somehow seeing Naruto doing all those childish stuffs made him feel relieved. That warmth was what he needed at that time. He wanted to escape from it but couldn’t. That’s why he embraced his warmth unknowingly in his Team 7 days by constantly reaching out to him starting from asking tips, concerned about having breakfast and training with him to climb the tree.
Sasuke even come to like Naruto more than himself and that’s why he was willing to die for him.
This feeling is definitely not a bromance or friendship. It’s an innocent enchantment you hope to last forever. Which again explains why he tolerated Naruto’s insults and hostility all those times. Because Sasuke knew those childish things were the ones he got attracted to him ever since his childhood. Rather than saying tolerated, I should use the term enjoyed. He really enjoyed those moments being bugged by Naruto for no reason.
Tumblr media
Because just like Itachi said to Sasuke once, ‘If you are excellent you become alienated and arrogant even though you were sought after at the beginning’ . But Naruto pestering him means he is very curious about Sasuke which no one else tried. He was adored by those girls for his coolness and revered by those boys for his excellence but nobody really tried to befriend him. But Naruto tried to befriend him through Rivalry. That’s why Sasuke unconsciously started to like him. This also explains why he roasted Sakura for badmouthing him even though Naruto attacked him and tied him up earlier.
If Sasuke can show all these feelings even though he was trying to suppress it towards Naruto and Itachi, Why can’t he show a single normal feeling towards Sakura??? Because there isn’t one. Except for an old Team 7 camaraderie where he saw her as an acquaintance and nothing more.
Many NH shippers claims, but Hinata loved her ‘Naruto-Kun’. She jumped in front of Naruto to save him from Pain, when in reality she just acted selfishly and couldn’t pull out the Chakra rods. Meaning she failed whatever she was about to do.
Another interesting thing to cite for NH shippers, they claim for Naruto, Hinata is the most important person his life. Since when? With that shitty movie called ‘The Last’ with shitty retconned stuff? In all the 699 chapters he always claimed Iruka Sensei and Sasuke were the important people in his life. And you know what? For Hinata to like Naruto, he has to jump in to save her from the bullies. But for Sasuke he just saved Naruto without any validation. He saw Naruto and liked his presence and just did it.
When you could accept that failed attempt as a love, why not accept Sasuke loves Naruto when in fact he succeeded in saving him and that too unconditionally?
This is one of the tropes which should have been avoided if the creator wanted Sasuke and Naruto to be just friends.
One and Only
This is something very special that is offered to that one person in his life. That is Naruto. Even Itachi knew it. That is the Power to influence Sasuke’s heart. This is the fact even Sasuke himself knew it and that’s why he wanted to kill him.
Now don’t compare this with the manipulation shit which Orochimaru and Obito were doing. It’s not that. Many Sasuke fanatics always blame Naruto that he is also manipulating Sasuke just like everyone. That’s totally wrong.
Manipulation is something you do by talking about some twisted facts and make the other person to do what you want to.
Naruto never did that. Ever. Whenever Naruto and Sasuke meet, they always talk about themselves and how they feel. Not the world, not Team 7 or anything. Which is exactly why Sasuke himself willingly left that space in his heart for Naruto when he left him in the Valley of the End which he badly wanted to destroy. Sasuke, of all people, know Naruto is also very honest.
Sasuke lost all his rationality when he went into darkness by stabbing Karin who was helping him in his battle with Danzo. She even replenished his chakra many times. He not only just stabbed her, after when he found her still alive, he decided to finish her off with his Chidori.
Tumblr media
And then the pink haired bitch appears before him and started to concoct lies with malicious intent to kill him. This provoked Sasuke more and more to reach this point.
Tumblr media
Believe me, when you are lost in darkness, all you need is a small light which can show you a path. Someone who can extend helping hands to lift you up with honesty.
Sakura, being a crass woman, riled up Sasuke further with full of nonsense.
If you want to picture the darkness,
Tumblr media
This is exactly how Sasuke feels. He is in so much pain and don’t know how to face it or deal with it. So he started to destroy everything he sees. For him Karin, Sakura, Kakashi are all just some pebbles in his way and want to trample them as he goes. His entire life has become farce after knowing his beloved brothers real pain and miseries. Now he has no one left from his family.
Until Naruto appears.
Tumblr media
He may not be his family, but he is the only person left for him in this world. Which is established in many Naruto endings and even Sasuke himself accepts this with Sage of Six Paths.
Tumblr media
But my Cherry Blossom queen really loved Sasuke, she only wanted the good of him. My question is ‘Then why the fuck she tried to kill him? She looked at Sasuke and find that he changed. She didn’t even bothered to find out what’s going on from his side.’ Then how is this considered as wanting only good for him?
Surprisingly Sasuke calmed down a bit, the moment Naruto appears and even started to respond to him which he didn’t before with Kakashi and Sakura. Deep down Sasuke himself knew in his heart that the path he is going through is Self-destructive. Just like Kurama tells Naruto ‘Destroy everything you see’ in the Pain arc when he sprouted upto Eighth Tail, Sasuke’s traumatic mind tells him to ‘Destroy Konoha’.
All he needed was someone to extend an helping hand to tell him what to do without any malice. Naruto did that. Just like what Minato did for Naruto in Pain arc.
After clashing Rasengan with Chidori ,they meet inside the White bubble space and Naruto talks to Sasuke which evoked all his past memories which he never wanted to awaken.
That’s why Sasuke was visibly shaken with Naruto’s words. Because those were the words which mirrors exactly how Sasuke feels too. He was surprised and shocked that Naruto also felt the same way without him ever openly confessing those feelings.
When everyone tried to kill him for his monstrosity, Naruto is the only person standing there seeing him as his friend. Just like how Iruka saw Naruto way back in 1st chapter.
Believe me, even at the depth of darkness, when you see the person you love so much, you will stop and rationalize.
Tumblr media
That is exactly why Itachi left Sasuke in Naruto’s hands. He even admitted to Sasuke that his words will not reach him no matter what.
Sasuke may not have abandoned his ambitions at that point. But Naruto gave him a clear path. That is ‘Show all your hatred on me’ and then do whatever you want.
I know SS shippers will claim that back hug from Sakura changed his murderous behaviour during the Chunin Exams. Yes. That’s true. But right after that, when Sasuke was fighting Yoroi in a one-on-one combat, his Cursed Seal flares up again. He retracted that seal out of his sheer will and thought about both Sakura and Naruto who was freaking out without even knowing about the seal. So, it’s not only a Sakura exclusive moment. The creator even went ahead and drawn a panel asking Sakura to not say anything about the Curse Mark to Naruto. Why do that?
As far as I understand, Sasuke saw Naruto and felt the warmth of his family. He singled that out in chapter 698. When Naruto was placed in the same team as him, he started to extend his good side to his other team members as well. But the moment he decided to leave the village, he severed the ties with Sakura (was there ever one apart from considering her as a teammate?) by saying Thank You. Meaning, you helped me many times so thanks for all of that. What’s more pitiful is, he didn’t even look at her face for the entire conversation except for saying ‘You are really annoying’. There is nowhere in the manga where Sasuke singled out Sakura for making him feel anything and did something for her exclusively. It’s all in the context of Team 7.
If Sakura is the most important person in Sasuke’s life, he should have stopped the rampage the moment he saw her but instead he got riled up more and more. Which explains where Sasuke kept her in his heart. Literally nowhere. He threw her into the trash. LOL.
If Hulk can calm down after seeing Betty Ross and you call that love, why not accept Sasuke loves Naruto??
Powerful Eyes
You know, Even in real life, Our eyes always reflects our true feelings, just like how your body betrays your mind , your eyes even betray your body.
Just like how Itachi could never fake his evil brother act in his final moments.
Tumblr media
Just like how Sasuke couldn’t turn away from Itachi when he was approaching him to seemingly snatch his eyes.
Uchiha boys being a romantic bunch, always expose their awakening/ reawakening/ evolving their Sharingan in a most distressed situation. Just like Madara and Sasuke exposed their brimming eyes for Hashirama and Naruto. But in this department, Madara is wildly romantic as always. LOL. Despite losing 3 brothers, he awakened his Sharingan only when he was breaking up with his ‘friend’. And Sasuke, he reawakened / evolved Sharingan when trying to save / breaking up with his ‘friend’. Such a Biological defect!!!!
Poor Sakura pathetically fails in this department.
Anyways this part is not about Sharingan anyway. It’s about how such a powerful eyes becomes powerless before those Blue Eyes.
Eye Symbolism is something I really enjoy exploring in this ship.
Like I mentioned earlier, Sasuke has never shown his emotions atleast starting from Part II. He usually never shows any positive emotions like happiness, laughing, pouting, love, excitement (although he has shown all these towards Itachi and Naruto) and is known for negative emotions like anger, annoyance, hatred.
Tumblr media
Look at how Sasuke is glaring with hatred for her insensitive words. She deserved this to be honest.
Tumblr media
Now, is there any need to show your fury towards Kabuto?
Since the beginning of the Shippuden, some facts have been established strongly:
1. Sasuke has changed by leaps and bounds in terms of his attitude and hatred.
Tumblr media
2. Sharingan is pretty dangerous. Many characters including kurama acknowledges it. Sasuke is very adept at using his Sharingan.
Tumblr media
Orochimaru maybe right. But he doesn’t know the weakness. LOL
His hatred has reached to a point where he couldn’t think anything rationally and started to kill everyone, just like how Naruto kicked Sakura in his 4 Tailed Kyuubi Mode engulfed with the hatred of Kurama. Meaning, to reach his goal, Sasuke will kill anyone in his path without any hesitation. This shot is the representation of this.
Tumblr media
And yet when he saw those particular Blue eyes, he stops his rampage immediately and visibly shocked even.  That’s the look of ‘why is that blue eyes here?’
Tumblr media
You have every right to accuse me that I am over exaggerating this scene. I am not. Even I wanted to think that way too that I am deluding myself. The creator has only consolidated my view pretty strongly.
Tumblr media
There’s no need to emphasize on eyes at all. The anime team has went under so much pain to animate this scene in a satisfying and compelling way.
What’s more? The creator even went under further extent to draw a whole page in the manga focusing on their eye contact after the Rasengan vs Chidori clash. Meaning, Sasuke has calmed down visibly and became very easy to reason with.
Tumblr media
Trust me, even in your darker / vulnerable moments, your eyes will reflect your true feelings to the person you love. You cannot be stubborn.
Now did it stop here?? Nope, it happened again in the Final Valley of the End battle too.
Sasuke is usually confident of his Sharingan (rightfully so) and likes to flaunt his eyes just like Madara. He was very sure that he was going to win.
Tumblr media
While Sasuke had a clear resolve to kill Naruto when he was showing his back, but the moment he comes close with those Blue Eyes, his heart even pounded strongly (in the anime), and lost the resolve completely which made his Sharingan retract itself unconsciously. Meaning, his eyes betrayed him.
Tumblr media
It’s funny that not even a minute ago he was very proud of his Visual Prowess as an Uchiha and his victory is inevitable but the moment he saw those Blue eyes, he just lost. You think I am again exaggerating?. Nope!!!
Tumblr media
Oh Dear!!! This doesn’t get more romantic than this. An inescapable gaze from those blue eyes he loved all along.
Sasuke!! What happened to your proud Uchiha eyes?. You just stole Chakra from Naruto, isn’t it? Hints like these are really heartwarming, to be honest.
My entire point is, every character from every arc hypes up Sharingan starting from Zabuza, Haku, Rock Lee, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Kurama and many more, but why put a weakness for Naruto’s eyes?
What I really loved exploring is the way Sasuke totally expressed everything through his eyes in Episode 478.
Tumblr media
Sasuke shows his vulnerability towards Naruto with just his eyes. These are not something you show to everyone. Even when Itachi departed finally after releasing Edo Tensei, Sasuke looked sad, shocked and pained but didn’t cry. He accepted the reality of it. The last time when we saw him crying, it was after knowing the truth of Itachi, facing towards the beach and was weeping unbearably because there was no one else for him in this world. But this time, he is next to the person whom he feels truly loved and he doesn’t mind showing it with his eyes.
Tumblr media
Well, on multiple rewatches, the clues for their love was already dropped in the 1st Valley of the End fight itself. Sasuke already lost his resolve to kill by balling his chidori fist rather than ramming through his chest. So the feelings inside the bubble are their honest emotions like always.
Tumblr media
The pain on the verge of their separation inside the white bubble is clearly evident from their eyes even in their monstrous form. Even in the manga it was mentioned that ‘I can’t turn my back  Vs  I am not letting you go’
But what they really wanted to be from their childhood was this.
Tumblr media
Look at Sasuke, how entranced he was on looking at that innocent boy. Now put yourself at Sasuke’s mind. Will you ever look at your friend like that??? Now, they are probably just 7 here, am not romanticizing. But Sasuke looks enthralled innocently.
But somehow, their paths separated them for who knows how long. But the pain in both their eyes is unbearable. Even the databook, mentioned that separating from Naruto is like ripping half of his body. Well, this proves it.
Tumblr media
Now, if they really wanted to portray this as friendship, they never should have given Eye symbolism at all. They should have gone with ‘I was always jealous of you’ thing, like they portrayed in that filler episode 450.I would’ve gladly accepted it as friendship. Because that’s how friends behave when they are jealous and I wasn’t feeling any romance at all. There’s no need of that lengthy monologue on how he was always looking at Naruto and felt pain.
I am telling you, I won’t be looking at my friend like this.
Unconscious closeness
Remember, I’ve written in the beginning of the post that Sasuke enjoys the warmth from Naruto. Meaning, he likes that person’s presence unconsciously and want to be near him. Sasuke proved this many times.
This is the most intense and confusing section I have to dissect for this post. But it’s the most entertaining nonetheless, atleast for me.
Starting from the Land of the Waves arc, here Sasuke is speed walking to match up with Naruto.
Tumblr media
Initially I thought, he is trying to be competitive. But instead of walking ahead of Naruto to show who is faster, he just walks beside him. I find this really hilarious and adorable. This just shows Sasuke likes Naruto’s presence so much so that he wants to walk beside him.
Now many SS shippers tries to make this scene for themselves, when it is clearly not.
Tumblr media
If you notice Sasuke in the Bell Training, he compares his strength difference with Kakashi and determines to get stronger. Same with Might Guy, he compares Might Guy’s speed with his own Sensei. Meaning, he respects people with strength. Naturally, he should’ve asked her and Sakura would have given him tips wholeheartedly. Because she really succeeded in that training.
Why bother to ask a deadlast?
The only reason I could find is that he wants to befriend him in his own stubborn way. But Poor Soul!!! He didn’t get the tips anyway. LOL. But despite getting the short end of the stick, he never hold it against him. Just like he never held anything against Naruto when he tied him up in Episode 3. All he did was just flaunt how he escaped.
Tumblr media
Pretty cool for a 12 year old kid. Because If I were Sasuke, I would hold it for sure.
Once again Sasuke proves how he can care Naruto in his own adorable way.
Tumblr media
He could’ve said ‘I am going to train too” if he really intended to train. There is no need to say ‘Going for a Walk’ and ask Naruto about breakfast. This explains that Sasuke simply missed the boy’s prolonged absence and reached out to him in his own cute way.
Now all these doesn’t mean he was in love with him. It’s just a childish attraction which makes him act like that involuntarily.
I just added this GIF to compare with the next scene.
Tumblr media
Now Shikamaru falling on Naruto in an unconventional way doesn’t look anywhere romantic. Instead it’s the opposite. They are pretty friendly here.
But Sasuke’s approach to Naruto does looks undeniably sensual and I couldn’t deny the sexual tension that brings with it. (Even when I watched it for the first time having no idea of shipping anyone, I lowkey got creeped and thought, ‘Sasuke!! What have you become? ’)
Tumblr media
This scene is something even I can’t dissect. Because honestly I don’t know. Sasuke is a person who never appreciates physical touches nor does he initiates either.
Tumblr media
I get this crazy femme fatale vibe when seeing Sasuke with his sexy costume landing at a speed of lightning with his hands wrapped around Naruto and taunting near his ear about what was he doing there? The only reason I could think of is that maybe he missed him for 3 years which made him go unconsciously so close near Naruto. It’s also funny that he could’ve shoved his sword into Naruto’s heart before landing and no one could’ve batted an eyelid.
Damn you, Kishimoto!!! Is this scene absolutely necessary??? What are you trying to convey? Why do you give Sasuke, a sexualized aura?? I understand you love this character so much and you want this character to be desirable among women. Yeah, you succeeded by making Karin behave like a woman in heat, the moment they met. But instead of letting her get close to him, you made Sasuke to say ‘You... Don’t get so close’ whereas with Naruto, you made Sasuke to go willingly touch him in a half hugging stance. Geez!!!
Here comes the most interesting part in this section.
It may seem irrelevant at the beginning but trust me, it will make sense later.
Before that, I would like to appreciate the creator and especially the anime team to bring the battle sequence so lively and different in its own way. If you notice the purpose of every battle that happened in Naruto series, each carries it own meaning and deliberately distinguished. How you ask?
The fight between Deidara vs Sasuke.
Logically Deidara should be dead in the Gaara retrieval arc itself. There is no point for him to chase Sasuke who killed Orochimaru to whom Deidara had nothing to do with. It didn’t impact the story in any way. But the purpose of that battle is to show how far Sasuke has grown up in those 3 years. The way he can use his Sharingan to analyze his enemies abilities and weakness so quickly and take multiple steps ahead, the way he can use Genjutsu and other incredible jutsus in his arsenal were a visual treat.
Now, let’s analyze Sasuke’s arsenal of Jutsus. He can do Teleportation Jutsu, a decent Genjutsu, Chidori Senbon (needles), Raikiri (Chidori sword which ranges to 5 metres), Chidori Nagash (Chidori from his whole body), Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu Shuriken Jutsu with wire works, Kirin, Gokakyu No jutsu, Sword fighting, basic Hand-to-Hand fighting (I’ve never seen him do it ever since the Chunin Exams with Orochimaru), Archery fighting, Susanoo, Amaterasu and all the Rinnegan abilities.
Based on the jutsus he learned so far and how he applies in every battle, it all confirms two things:
Sasuke is a Medium-Long Range Shinobi
Sasuke’s battles are usually based on his Cleverness
Let’s go for Naruto. He can do Teleportation Jutsu, Sexy Jutsu, Harem no jutsu, Rasengan, Rasen Shuriken, Oodama Rasengan, Biju Dama, Tailed Beast Mode, Kage Bunshin No jutsu, Sage mode jutsu, Frog Kumite, Better Hand-to-Hand combat skills (better than Sasuke), Transformation Jutsu, Substitution Jutsu and all his Six path abilities.
Compared to Sasuke, Naruto’s jutsu variety is very less. But for every 4 punches from Sasuke equals 1 powerful punch from Naruto. Analyzing all of them,
Naruto is a Close-Range Shinobi except for his Rasen Shuriken
Naruto’s battles are usually based on his Jutsu Timing and Unpredictability
Now, Let’s rewind back to 3 years and look at the 1st Valley of the End battle. That battle was cleverly choreographed which carried very intense emotional baggage. Things we never knew about those boys until then were openly admitted and acknowledged. That is, for Sasuke, Naruto became his closest friend. For Naruto, he always wanted to be Sasuke’s friend way back when he was 6 or 7. For both, they already have some unexplainable bond by just looking at each other and smiling secretly.
The theme of that battle started as Am going on my own path vs I can’t allow you to tread on that dangerous path and ended up with I want to break our bond vs I don’t want to.
Tumblr media
Now, this posture represents, Naruto is the one who pursues Sasuke to stop him from whatever he was about to do. Meaning, Naruto is the one who is constantly reaching out and Sasuke as usual kicks him out violently, that is he is pushing him away. That’s the essence of the whole battle.
Considering all the battles in the Naruto universe, I categorize them as follows:
Best Calculated (and emotional) battle - Itachi vs Sasuke
Best Hand-to-Hand combat - Kakashi vs Obito (what a fight it was!!!)
Best Mega Powered Up battle - Hashirama vs Madara
Best Emotional battle - Naruto vs Sasuke (1st valley of the end)
Best Unpredictable/Entertaining battle - Naruto vs Pain
Despite having all the potential to fulfill the above categories, The Final Valley of the End Battle never bested in any of them.
As analyzed before, the boys have grown up to greater heights. I expected a battle between Cleverness of Sasuke Vs Unpredictability of Naruto
But what I observed was something so intense. That is Unintentional closeness.
This battle symbolizes one thing: I am going to kill you to get lonely vs I won’t let you kill me because you will be alone.
Being a long range fighter, I expected Sasuke to go for this.
Tumblr media
If you have to kill someone you love, it is best to keep your distance. Sasuke knows this full well when he battled with Itachi. Except for some Sword fighting, he maintained a certain distance to fight Itachi throughout, until the very end.
But when fighting Naruto, all I got was this.
Tumblr media
That’s when I finally understood that this posture means, the fight is very personal. Which means, Sasuke or Naruto won’t be fighting by sitting on top of each other with their enemies or anyone else. That’s just between them alone.
There was no analysis or cleverness from Sasuke’s side or any Unpredictability from Naruto. It was very bland and Sasuke looked clueless throughout the fight.
It started with some boxing style combat, including stealing hand seals and then some power punches. Very quickly it propels to Susanoo vs Tailed Beast mode. I expected some Hashirama vs Madara level power battle.
But all we saw there was this.
Tumblr media
I mean, Come on!!! Man. Even the most Crazy and openly Romantic Uchiha, Madara himself never fought like this in Susanoo with Hashirama (Though Madara must be thinking ‘Damn Hashirama! I should’ve tried this with you’. LOL). Those mega battles carried variety of tactics.
Another thing I noticed was, Sasuke is the one who does lots of talking and constantly pursuing Naruto. Whereas Naruto is uncharacteristically quiet for the most part.
And finally it leads to this.
Tumblr media
Sasuke was unconsciously getting closer and closer to Naruto which is the opposite of what he wants to do. Because of that very closeness, he couldn’t look at his eyes with his Sharingan and eventually got an uppercut. It’s like Sasuke was screaming, ‘Hate me’ and Naruto was like ‘Keep talking’.
Every jutsu he had for attacking from a long-range were forgotten. He didn’t even try to put Naruto under Genjutsu. I mean with his Rinnegan, he was capable of putting all the 9 Tailed Beasts into a powerful Genjutsu. Why didn’t he try that with Naruto? There was no Chidori Stream or Lightning Blade.
I can imagine Naruto doing close range fights with someone or even sitting on top of the enemy. Example, part I, Naruto head bumped Gaara. He was literally fighting with his Shadow Clones against a Monster so he had to get closer. Naruto monstrously punching Deidara not knowing the fact that it was a clay clone.
But Sasuke??? Can you imagine Sasuke sitting on top of the enemy and punching to pulp??? No way. Not a chance.!!!
In one way or other way, Sasuke was always in the close proximity with Naruto throughout the battle and touching each other which is totally uncharacteristic of him when compared to his other battles.
Every battle he ever fought was always at a distance which is the clear representation of his own character. He is calculative, analytical, precise and moves fluidly with a flair like a true Ninja unlike Naruto who is always reckless, noisy, powerful and clumsy.
Sasuke is someone who never lets his emotions get ahead in the battle, unlike Naruto. This is evident from the War when he was yelling at Naruto to stop worrying about Hokage as they were Edo Tensei who can regenerate. Even when fighting with Itachi, he calculated every move and attacked Itachi without any emotions except at the very end. Sasuke in this final battle forgot who he was and telling us viewers “Am just gonna get closer to Naruto and punch him hard”.
In short, Sasuke completely forgot all his battle tactics he had with Itachi and let his emotions get ahead of his cleverness and got himself closer to Naruto which eventually ended up weakening his resolve to kill him. This is what I meant by Unintentional Closeness.
Anyways, what I understood was, the creator didn’t put all this by without any meaning. It’s all very deliberate and drawn carefully.
Moving onto the final and the most defining moments of SNS.
Tumblr media
When I watched this scene for the first time, I can’t comprehend the exact meaning. And I forgot about this later because of my excitement to know what happens next. But what I understood on my rewatch is that, the feelings exchanged here is very pure and innocent but distressing.
Sasuke already lost his resolve to kill by not ramming Naruto with Chidori instead balled up his fist. So he is not contemplating whether or not to kill Naruto.
Sasuke made every effort to leave Naruto and succeeded in it too. But somehow, accidentally, when faced with a person whom he considers so precious in such a close proximity, despite have a stinging pain in his arm, he is feeling the warmth he once felt. He just wants that warmth to prolong for some more time and he can’t able to evade it. So he totally gave in to that desire and feeling it unconsciously. Sasuke always watched Naruto (unbeknownst to him) and felt warmth, relief and weakness. This scene is the symbolic and innocent representation of all those feelings when he saw Naruto and he is exeriencing it for the final time.
Does this means, does Sasuke wants to kiss him? No.
But every symbolism of that being happening is there. It’s just all open to interpretations. The creator could show us how Sasuke fell on his knees and staring at Naruto intently but never intended to show when he got up and left. I don’t understand this twisted mind of the creator.
Added to that, Sasuke was about to say ‘Naruto, I....’ God only knows what he was about to say. But every possibility of Sasuke confessing and kissing is there.
I know the creator cannot approach this directly considering the situations he worked under. But is there any necessity for such an intense scene? Even the anime creators loved this scene and made their own version of making Naruto’s eyes wide open and even more closer.
Tumblr media
I wont be watching my friend or sister like that.
That explains all the way back to this fated accidental scene.
Tumblr media
There is nothing special about this scene. It’s all very clear that the kiss was accidental. It was really funny. But my point is why Sasuke never beat him to pulp or even push Naruto away like he did with Sakura and Karin? Why did he stood up for Naruto before Sakura? Why did he let go off Naruto even though he tied him up? Too many leeway for a single person in a single episode. And the most important part is, Sasuke thought it was intentional and remembers the taste. LOL.
Does this means he enjoyed the kiss? Not at all.
Most probably he was shocked to see Naruto in such a close proximity after seeing him from a distance for all those years. And he enjoys this as just another prank from Naruto in his own innocent way. But he won’t mind getting another one from Naruto either.
So, to conclude
I believe I made this post from an objective standpoint without making crazy theories and I don’t have to..... since canonical resources were plenty. Obviously my own bias will also be there which is unavoidable. But I tried to question the creative choices of why this scene even exist in the first place many times. Because those are the scenes which made the most impact inside me.
My first watch of Naruto gave me the benefit of doubt that ‘Are they in love? Nah... They are friends. Maybe I am just overthinking...  but why does it feel different??’ and that too only after finishing episode 478. After rewatching it again and again, it only consolidated my view.
For Sasuke, his worldly ties are pretty thin and runny. He was always a loner from the beginning even when he had his family. He never bothered to make any friends nor did anyone tried to befriend him. He was pretty close to his family especially Itachi. When he lost everything, somehow he got attracted innocently to Naruto and started to like him. But beyond Naruto he never bothered to add anyone in his heart. He considered Kakashi and Sakura were like his acquaintances who helped him a lot and that’s all.
Then after using Orochimaru, he gathered some high skilled shinobi for killing Itachi. But he made it clear that there don’t need to be any understanding but just co-operation would be enough. But along his way, he just abandoned Jugo, Suigetsu somewhere. He openly said to Karin that she is nothing but a burden to him. When his hatred reached upto a maximum boiling point, he didn’t even hesitate to kill Karin, Kakashi or Sakura. But the moment Naruto appears he calmed down. The proof? He was shocked to see Naruto at first. Then Naruto calls, ‘Sasuke!!!’, to which Sasuke responds with, ‘What?’. Despite becoming a maniac, he could find it in his heart to listen to Naruto.
It took an Edo Tenseified Itachi to bring him some rationality to question his beliefs about destroying Konoha. When Jugo and Suigetsu appear again, he casually asked them, ‘What do you want with me at this point?’, I mean, Come On, Man. LOL.  Even during the war arc, when things were about to blast off he only cared about Jugo (who helped him many times, so understandable) and Naruto (Geez!!! LOL).
Even after their final battle, the anime went so far as to create a scene where they were alone in a bright Konoha. But Sasuke looked very peaceful and listening to Naruto intently. When Naruto freaks out about Infinite Tsukuyomi, he casually laughs off and says ‘you still care about the world’. Meaning, he is happy there spending time alone with the person he loves. Doesn’t give a rat’s ass about missing anyone else. (How romantic!!!). Honestly, Sasuke wouldn’t mind if they were to stay that way forever. He would gladly listen to Naruto all day.  But when Naruto disappears he freaks out and starting to make up his mind about joining his brother.
It’s very clear that the people he adores are Itachi and Naruto. Towards Itachi, it’s super understandable, because he is his own brother. But Naruto??? Why should the creator go so far as to make Sasuke adores Naruto even after breaking up with him?
And why make Sasuke possessive about Naruto’s life? When Obito was about to kill Naruto with that Black Orbs, Sasuke blocked him and said ‘You are not the One to sever the past, I am’. I understand the logic behind Sasuke’s possessiveness on Itachi’s life because he destroyed his family, childhood and even Itachi wants Sasuke to be the one to kill him. But why possessive on Naruto? He is not related to him by blood. Naruto never did anything wrong to Sasuke to warrant any hate either. You will become possessive on something only when you truly hate it or wholeheartedly love it. There is no middle ground. My point is why put Naruto here at all in the first place?? Believe me, If Sasuke never paid attention to Naruto in the War arc, I would be the first person to jump out of this ship.
Just to give you a basic example, Imagine you are living in a place far away from your family, friends and that loveable person. When Corona hits everywhere and forced Lockdown to travel outside the city, and the situation is getting worse day by day. Whom would you desperately reach out first? You would reach the person whom you are connected well in your family and that loved one. You will prioritize your friends only later. This is the Universal truth. Sasuke was seen showing that same instinct in the War arc towards Naruto whom he was not related by blood. And you all just want me to believe Sasuke sees him as just a friend?? Give me a break!!!
If all those traits I’ve mentioned above have been avoided to a greater extent, I would be happy to believe that they are friends. If not all, at the very least delegate some of the tropes to other people or share some of the tropes with other people along with Naruto. But dumping it all on Naruto alone makes me only curious and incredibly romantic too.
It’s no wonder, Naruto would go so far as to reach out Sasuke even at the expense of his life.
Oh, Did I forget about the cutest and most exclusive trope to SNS?
Tumblr media
U-SU-RA-TON-KA-CHI, the most personal word which carries its own meaning and is only for Naruto. So funny that Sasuke has to spend a certain amount of energy to call Naruto using a 6 syllabic word rather than NA-RU-TO, a 3 syllabic word which is much easier.
Disclaimer: This post constituted everything from from Chapter 1 to 699 or Episode 1 to 135 (part 1) + Episode 1 to 479 (Shippuden) excluding fillers. Though Sasuke shinden novel was made into anime, I don’t want to consider that here. As much as I loved the prologue in that novel, I still don’t want to cite that here, as I consider everything after 699 is $$$$ making bullshit.
FUN FACT:
If you put yourself in any character in the Naruto Universe except for Naruto, and ask them, ‘What do you think about Sasuke?’. You know the answer from Sakura, she will say ‘Sasuke-Kun looks very cool and acts aloof, that’s why I love him’. Kakashi will say ‘My favorite student’. And all the other people will say somewhat similar, ‘He is an excellent Shinobi who belongs to the proud Uchiha clan and Naruto’s rival’
But Naruto will be the only person to say this.
Tumblr media
“Lot of fun to be around” ....... LOLLLLL.
Me: No, Naruto!!! Clearly not. No one in your universe can have fun with him except you. Go and Ask Sai, Team Taka or your own Team 7. They adore him for being Cool and Talented. But Fun is not the word that equates with Sasuke unless there is no You, Naruto.
Thanks for reading :-D

Alright! We have Nara Fixation feating Naruto
But can we get Pyromaniac Uchiha feating wind nature Naruto
Like, maybe, age 6 when Sasuke is still learning the Great Fireball and Naruto come tumbling over over flowing with chakra. See what Sasuke is trying to do and is like “wind makes fire bigger! I learned that when I couldn’t get any food from the market. I have to catch and cook my own food. Anyways watch this!”
And makes like nice little breeze and Sasuke’s all like “what is a gust of wind gonna do Dobe? You need something better to use with the Great Fireball! Amaterasu help me!”
Then they fight and make a bet and they try to work together to make a combo move and then they burn down the WHOLE UCHIHA TRAINING GROUND and then it’s all over for Sasuke’s little Uchiha Heart.
Oh oh you’re speaking my language with this shit right here darling.  Because yes, yes this makes perfect sense.  I live for a Naruto who practically breathes chakra and we all know Uchiha are all collectively Like That(TM) so it really would be a match made in pyro-heaven.
And of course I’ll tweak it a bit cause I’m digging this being a post-Massacre thing:
So Sasuke and Naruto know each other in a passing sort of way, of course they do. Sasuke is the second son of the Uchiha Clan head so everyone tends to know who he is.
And as for Naruto?  Well even at their age Naruto is already infamous in the village as a whole as well as with the other kids their age.  Naruto with his bright hair and his ragged clothes and his too loud everything.  Naruto who does nothing but cause chaos and get yelled at in class at the Academy.
Naruto who most of them have been warned to stay well and far away from.
So of course the last thing Sasuke’s expecting when he’s out at the dock is to see Naruto, a bruise blossoming brilliantly across his face and blood rusting one nostril and the corner of his mouth, come tumbling out of the reeds.
On his part Naruto looks equally surprised to see him, blue eyes going wide and entire body locking into place.
Hand raised to his mouth and gathered chakra puffing out his cheeks, Sasuke freezes for a too long moment as they stop and stare at each other.
The ashy cough and wheeze Sasuke gives out when the chakra finally grows unstable in his mouth and throat makes Naruto giggle just a bit.
“Oi, oi, oi,” Naruto finally calls as he pulls himself up out of the reeds and onto the dock, uncaring at how his feet and legs are covered in mud and muck.  “You doing cool jutsu?  What is it?”
Sasuke debates on answering for a long moment. But, well, it’s not like there’s anyone around to get in trouble with for talking to Naruto anymore.
And Naruto’s the only one in class who doesn’t look at him like that.
“Great Fireball,” Sasuke finally answers just as Naruto’s begun to droop just a bit.
“Can you teach me?” Naruto asks, bright eyes wide as they fix on Sasuke’s face.
“No,’ Sasuke tells him, just a bit defensively.  “It’s for Uchiha only.”
“Oh,” Naruto slumps for a split second before he perks back up yet again. “That’s kinda cool, that you got family jutsu.”
The words hover heavy in the air between them, a silent sort of understanding over this terrible thing they both have in common now.
“Can’t do it perfect yet,” Sasuke digs the tip of his sandal into the dock. “Not like Ita-he could when he was my age.”
Because yes Sasuke had trained to do the fireball so he could finally gain Fugaku’s attention but even then it wasn’t as impressive as Itachi’s initiation fireball had been and Sasuke wants to, has to, surpass him.
“You need more wind,” Naruto tells him gravely, arms crossed over his chest as he nods decisively.  “Wind makes the fire real big!  So if you can’t do it yet just add more wind.”
Which makes Sasuke, who ,like all Uchiha, does like the idea of bigger fire, pause for a moment.  Because he knows Naruto’s right in a way.  Wind can cause flames to grow high and stronger, but Sasuke hadn’t expected Naruto of all people to know that.
“Like this, see?” Naruto bounces forward as soon as he realizes Sasuke’s actually interested in what he said.
And Sasuke watches as Naruto puffs up his cheeks, screws his eyes shut, and blows out an actual breeze.
It’s not very large or strong but it’s undeniably a wind current and not just a heavy breath.
And Naruto did it with no hand signs.  Did it through pure concentration alone.
Sasuke’s mind immediately starts to spark.
“Needs to be bigger,” Sasuke finds himself saying.  “Bigger wind for a bigger fireball.”
Naruto deflates just a bit.
“Don’t know any real wind jutsu,” Naruto mumbles, arms moving to hug himself while he stares at the dock.
Which, even if he won’t say it, is actually more impressive to Sasuke.  Because, again, it means Naruto did that through pure will and chakra alone.
“Might have a few scrolls on them somewhere,” Sasuke’s mouth moves on its own.
Beside him Naruto’s eyes go wide with what looks a lot like awe and the beginning of hope.
Sasuke looks away, cheeks burning red, and reminds himself that he’s only doing this so he can see a bigger fire.
~~~
Two weeks later, a bundle of scrolls hunted down and the Great Breakthrough jutsu firmly in Naruto’s arsenal, the two of them head back out to the dock.
~~~
Five minutes later all Sasuke can do is stare in awe as everything around them burns.
When he looks over to the right and sees Naruto back lit by the flames all he can do is throw his head back and laugh.
Because he’s never seen anything so beautiful in his entire life.
Now all Sasuke has to do is hurry up and kill Itachi so he can have this for the rest of forever.

Deja Vu
Pairing: Neji x Fem!Uchiha Reader
Summary: Hyuga Hiashi does not approve of your relationship with Neji.
implied established relationship. implied that neji has plans marrying.
Word Count: 2.8k
Memories - Part 1 | Deja Vu - Part 2
A/N: gotta say it started out cute but then bam angst sjdjdens i’m sorry i’m dramatic sumtyms 🤧 please let me know your thoughts 🥺
Tumblr media
The Sharingan never forgets.
That’s among one of the few things that’s drilled into your mind as a child born in the Uchiha clan. Before you had even awakened your Sharingan, your late brother, Shishui, had already taught you this.
At a young age, you’ve always thought it was a blessing, especially to a shinobi like you. With the ability of the Sharingan to discern movements and to retain its information better than any other dojutsu, it enables you to progress faster than children your age.
Outside the shinobi life, however, it’s not really that useful, so it’s expected for you not to activate it at all. You don’t need to remember minor details of everyday life after all. But on some of your days off — on special days — although very rarely, you unconsciously activate your Sharingan when you’re with Neji.
It goes without saying that before the war, you’ve already gained quite a bit of control over the use of the Sharingan. You’re able to activate and deactivate it at will, although sometimes your emotions get the better of you and it messes your control. After the war, however, you’ve become adept at controlling both your emotions and your Sharingan, maybe even better than Sasuke.
But whenever Neji surprises you with affectionate gestures, you get so overwhelmed that you just can't control your body, and by extension, your dojutsu too.
No matter how hard you try, you’re unable to stop the blood rushing to your face. You’re unable to calm the violent thumping of your heart. You’re unable to get rid of the fluttering feeling in your stomach. You’re unable to prevent the Sharingan from activating. Especially on the rare occasions that he kisses the back of your hand tenderly after he walks you home, or when he kisses your lips before he leaves for a mission.
Neji isn’t good at romantic gestures, and so he keeps it to a bare minimum. But when he does these things, it always takes you by surprise.
He wouldn’t admit it, but he likes your cute reactions to his unpredictable acts. There’s always this short moment where your mind goes blank and your Sharingan manifests itself. This reassures him of your feelings for him because he knows he’s the only one who’ll be able to pull such a reaction from you. Not that he’s ever doubted you. You’ve always been so vocal about your feelings for him, after all.
On the flip side, while it embarrasses you that you can’t control your Sharingan when you’re with Neji, you like the way they activate themselves at those moments, as they’re able to help you remember the details of its aftermath — like the way Neji would always look down on the floor first before he meets your eyes, his cheeks tinted pink, and with the slightest upturn of his lips, almost as if he, himself, wasn’t expecting the onslaught of emotions that was brought about by his own actions. In mere seconds, you have all these memorized before he pulls away, and you play it over and over again in your mind until you’re branded with a new memory.
But the Sharingan is a curse as much as it is a blessing.
It’s a curse because it reminds you of the cruelty of the world. It doesn’t allow you to forget the scene of the Uchiha clan district after the massacre, even after knowing the true reason why it had to be done. It lets you remember the way you almost lost Neji from the Ten Tails’ attack during the war in his attempt to protect Naruto and Hinata.
And when Sasuke implanted Shisui’s eye to you, which he retrieved from Danzo before he annihilated him, the Sharingan lets you relive all his memories and experiences, and it paints you a picture of how unfair the world actually is, even more so to an Uchiha like you.
The unfair reality is further proven by an unexpected knock on your door a couple of weeks ago.
Hiashi. Hyuga Hiashi. The head of the Hyuga clan. Neji’s uncle.
He came to you with a deal, a proposition of sorts, but really it was just a threat in disguise as an offer.
“Leave Neji or else I’ll make sure he won’t be able to break free from his cage” is what he basically implied.
But to be precise, his words were, “The Hyuga clan is considering Neji to be the next heir, which would result in abolition of the main and branch family system altogether. Naturally, if he becomes the head of the clan, his curse seal will be removed, along with all the other branch family members’. However, there’s no telling if there’s going to be a change if he doesn’t get the position.
“You might have been keeping your relationship with him on the down-low, but the elders of the Hyuga clan know of it.
“To put it bluntly, we do not wish to be associated with the Uchiha in any way — so much that even disowning Neji has been put out there as an option, just in case — especially after what Sasuke pulled off after defeating the goddess.
“Moreover, if you were to bear a child together, there’s no telling what will happen to their kekkei genkai. It would be ideal to have him marry into the clan and follow tradition in order to preserve the Byakugan.
“I suppose you know where I’m going with this. It would be in his best interest if you call off whatever you have with him. Although this wouldn’t be a deal if there is nothing in it for you, right? Supposing Neji’s bright future is not enough for you, we are willing to arrange allowances of sorts.”
But before he could spout anything more, you cut him off by asking, “Does he know about this?”
“Not yet. But we’ll let him know soon enough.”
“Don’t. Keep it that way. I’ll handle this,” you told him, not caring if you didn’t sound respectful to a prominent figure such as himself. “I don’t need anything from your clan. All I want and need is for Neji to live a life that he deserves; a life that he was robbed off.”
Hiashi glared at you, offended by your words, but he didn't comment on it. Rather, he stared you down. His hardened expression morphing into suspicion the longer he looked at you; clearly he didn’t trust you. “How will you handle it?”
The only response he got from you is an intense stare with your Sharingan, and that alone was enough for him.
It’s frustrating to not have a choice, even when it comes to love, but in hindsight, you should’ve expected this. For all the troubles your ancestors caused in the past, it’s only natural for you to be this unfortunate.
Whatever blessing the Uchihas receive, it’s always paired with some type of misery. That’s just how it is, that’s how it would probably always be.
There’s no denying that in the end, it always, always hurts. But then again, you’re no stranger to pain and loss. And so is Neji. So surely, this would be for the best, at least that’s what you tell yourself over and over again in hopes that it will strengthen your resolve.
After all, Neji deserves a life where he doesn’t have to fear dying by the hands of the main branch family. He deserves a life where he can make choices of his own, without being tied down by his curse seal or his clan in general. And if leaving him means he’ll have all this and more, so be it.
As much as it is painful, it is hard, partly because of your waning resolve but especially because it’s Neji, who’s known for being an awfully perceptive shinobi. He’s almost never caught off guard, all the more when he’s with you, as he’s always keen on keeping you safe. Hence, you have to be meticulous and methodical.
The Sharingan’s ability to cast genjutsu is particularly harder to use against Hyugas due to their ability to see and sense the chakra concentrating by the eyes, enabling them to counter or avoid it entirely. Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami technique would’ve been quite useful, except you’re unable to use it yet because of the events prior to the war. Thus, you’ll have to rely on your own skills.
If timed right and casted properly, the genjutsu of the Sharingan has the ability to remove memories. To be precise, it can trick his mind into “forgetting” memories. But with years and years of memories between you and Neji, you know that you’ll have to cast it over and over again before everything will be completely wiped out.
You take advantage of the moments where Neji gives you affection, as you deem it the most subtle way to cast genjutsu on him without suspicion.
Although you have to admit, in the beginning you’ve been selfish, only removing memories of you and him that weren’t important — like the times he would accompany you in doing mundane tasks, or the times you both just lounge around after tiring missions. And because those are only minor memories, Neji is oblivious to the loss.
It gets exceptionally harder to cast the genjutsu once you’ve started erasing the major events in your relationship — the first date, the first kiss, the first time he held your hand, and the first time he introduced you as the love of his life. Until eventually, the affectionate acts dwindle down, and the only way you can use the Sharingan around him is when you ask him to train with you.
It’s only natural that the longer this goes on, the further you drift apart, and the more you lose him.
And it’s scary and painful because unlike Sasuke, Konoha has always been your home, but more specifically because of Neji. In fact, you can argue that Neji has always felt like home more than the village itself. You can walk the streets of Konoha but all it will ever scream is Neji’s name, and all it will ever show you is the memories you shared with him on every corner of the place.
The fact that you have to walk the streets without him is terrifying and foreign, and the only way you can avoid it altogether is by taking more and more missions, either the ones involving far away places or high rank missions that require every single bit of your concentration. Sometimes you even tag along to Sasuke’s expeditions to escape not only Neji’s overwhelming presence in the village, but also the thoughts of him.
It’s tiring and it’s heavy. But you’ve accepted the fact that you’re going to carry alone the memories for the two of you.
But this doesn’t go unnoticed by your friends, though they were quick to assume that things just didn’t work out between the two of you, and that you called your relationship off.
Ino is the first person to voice out her concern and her curiosity as she claimed it’s weird not seeing you hang out with Neji anymore.
“That’s just how it is, I suppose,” you shrug, trying to act nonchalant about everything despite the ache in your chest and the slight quiver of your voice.
She doesn’t comment further, thinking you probably didn’t want to talk about it.
But one day, when the whole clique — except for you and Sasuke — was hanging out, Ino can tell there was something wrong when Sakura asked if Neji remembered the time when you almost fell off a tree but he was there to catch you, and he furrowed his brows, saying he doesn’t recall that at all.
Break up or not, it’s highly unlikely for Neji to forget. Regardless of how minor something is, he always seems to remember them, especially when it involves you. And while he could’ve just been deflecting, there would’ve been no point in him denying that he remembers that occasion. Besides, Neji is blatantly honest, it’s one thing that you can count on when it comes to him, so really, how come he couldn’t remember that scenario at all?
This prompted Ino to observe Neji further out of concern and suspicion. She’d often find herself casually mentioning you and the feats you’ve both been through, but time and time again, Neji would tell her he has no recollection of those.
Ino wants to do something, anything really, just to clear her mind of suspicions, but she’s afraid she’s overstepping and interfering.
Neji takes notice of this. But even before that, he feels as though there’s something wrong, like something’s missing, but he doesn’t know what it is, and he doesn’t know what to do about it.
After all, genjutsu might’ve tricked his mind, but his heart is an entirely different case.
It comes as a surprise to Ino when Neji comes to visit her in Yamanaka’s flower shop, looking at your favorite flowers without a clue why.
With Ino being the only one who seems to be willing to talk about you with him, it’s her who he seeks out. That, and he thinks the Yamanaka’s mind jutsus could be of help.
Ino doesn’t hesitate to help after Neji asks for it. When she goes to explore Neji’s consciousness, the first thing that she senses is your chakra. The further she prods, the more she realizes that it’s you who have been tampering with his memories. Then she realizes that it’s genjutsu that you’ve used on him, and she quickly breaks him out of it.
You know instantly when the jutsu breaks, feeling as if there was a string that snapped, and it immediately renders you frozen.
Fear grips you as you think about how Neji would feel after his memories come back. Will he be able to tell it was you who did it? Will he be mad at you? Will you tell him the reason why you did it? Will he even listen?
But if he’d stop talking to you altogether… then that would still be a win, right? Because that’s what Hiashi wants, that’s what his clan wants. That’s the only condition for them to give back Neji’s freedom.
But is it worth it?
Is this what you want?
Is this what Neji would want?
You’d like to believe so. And that’s the last thought you have as the rogue shinobi you’re supposed to capture stabs a kunai deep into your gut.
Of all the times the genjutsu could have broken, it just had to be when you were facing a highly skilled ninja. It’s once again a reminder that life is unfair, but this time, it’s your choices that lead you to this.
Deja vu. That’s how you feel when you wake up after escaping death’s clutches once again.
You blink once, twice, and then you look around your surroundings. You’re back in Konoha’s hospital, but this time you don’t wake up to a sleeping Neji by your bed.
You’re alone, and you feel hollow.
But then the door to your room opens abruptly and you almost jump in surprise.
Your breath hitches as you find the familiar lavender eyes staring back at you.
He calls your name to you softly, as if in a trance, and you feel your heart stutter at how perfect your name sounds on his lips.
Before you know it, he’s by your side, gently holding your hands. With an untrained eye, it would seem that his face is void of any emotion, but from your years of experience with him, you can clearly point out the sadness in his eyes.
You break the silence by saying, “I’m sorry, Neji.”
“For what exactly?”
You look away in shame. “For trying to erase your memories of us.”
“Why’d you do it then?”
“Because…” you bite your lip. “That’s what’s best for you,” your voice cracks. “I’m not… We couldn’t— no — we shouldn’t be together.”
Neji gathers his thoughts, and it takes a couple of minutes before he speaks up. “The Sharingan may not be able to forget, but the Byakugan sees everything.”
And you understand what he’s trying to say: he can see through the lies you feed yourself.
Neji sighs, and it gets your attention. You peek at him, and only then have you noticed the bags under his eyes and the way his shoulders are slightly slumped.
He has always looked composed no matter the situation, but now he’s different.
“You used to tell me everything,” he says dejectedly.
The way he says it and the way he pleads with his eyes breaks something in you and you spill everything to him.
You’re crying and stuttering and you aren’t sure if you’re making sense. But Neji always, always understands you.
And by the end of your piece, you’re wrapped securely in his arms.
“You’re alright,” he comforts you. “We’re alright.”
“But Hiashi—”
“We’ll figure it out. We always do.”

Just thought about it:
ItaNeji but they met when Neji is still a kid, before the Uchiha massacre, Neji is kind of in awe with Itachi and goes about trying to challenge him like he did Asuma, one genius to another and Itachi is charmed despite his best efforts of the contrary.
Itachi turns into a training session every time Neji challenges him to a fight and it becomes a sort of routine or tradition for them; it also let's Neji have an outlet for all the anger and frustration growing inside of him. It's also a bonus having this one secret, this one thing that is only his.
After the Uchiha massacre, Neji is super angry at him for leaving him behind, alone facing his own clan every day; sometimes Neji would think about doing the same, about growing strong enough to pull off the same thing Itachi did and free himself as Itachi did.
From time to time a situation would come up where Neji would be reminded of Itachi and, after the academy and going on missions one of his lessons would be the thing that saved him or made it possible to complete or solve something or another.
Sorry for any typos 😬
[ I don't really understand what you mean by, "after the academy and going on missions one of his lessons would be the thing that saved him or made it possible to complete or solve something or another," but everything else is...I hesitate to say adorable. Because my first thought was Neji took the Uchiha massacre as instructions from Itachi. XD I may be totally off with that, but you know how my brain works. Does Itachi help him from the shadows? That would be
Tumblr media
I used to have a verse where Itachi occasionally saw little Neji and insert caged bird metaphors here. He observed him for short precious moments, like an animal in a zoo, and lament about the limits of justice and the fragile structures that held the village up, including clans (the loyal ones anyway). Then, he, uh, left. Blood moon. Obito's clan reunion. "You truly are a kind child." Cue Sasuke living out one of the worst plans by a prodigy ever concocted.
During Neji's jounin years, where he often took long solo missions, Itachi checked up on him, just to see what he was up to. Always impressed, but also disappointed. You know how it is. It's just sad to see him when you think about what's under his headband. Eventually, he began to leave him little messages or lure his attention to things in the environment, like signs from the heavens.
Neji thought he was going crazy at first. Maybe he was just antsy and noticing things that his subconscious wanted him to do. Run away. Fly away. When your heart isn't there, it's time to find a new home. Eventually, though, he began to read them as messages from his father.
One day, he listened to them. Spread his wings and took flight. Unfortunately, he couldn't let his cousin worry about him and believe he'd been kidnapped, so he left her a note saying he was safe, he just wasn't going to return. That was proof he'd defected and enough evidence to put him in the Bingo Book. Nukenin. Kill on sight. Hiashi sent out his clansmen to get ahead of the hunters, to find him and bring him back, but he was too late. Anbu was sent out before Neji could get too far and hide, and they're good at what they do.
Itachi had been good at it too. That was how he knew exactly how to protect his own personal side mission. After saving Neji, he didn't explain his part in all of it, just warned him that it was going to be hard to stay under the radar and even harder to avoid his loved ones. He then gave him some advice and "left" him.
Only, he didn't. He stuck with him for a few days, out of sight, and ensured he was safe.
That one never had any romance or bloodshed, so...is it any wonder I didn't stick with it? ]

Yandere Itachi
Despite traveling to every village far and wide he had never seen a woman, let alone person like her.
Her hair was new, her facial features, skin and personality. It was just so intriguing to Itachi, he couldn't help but be enchanted by it.
He found himself risking his cover much more than usual. He had began at first sneaking in a few times a month to check on her for a few minutes but eventually it became a nightly hobby.
He would come right when her sensei dismissed the team and shadow over her while walking home. After he would watch through windows while she moved about and finally once he was sure she was sleep...he would sneak in and watch.
He noticed many things about the girl while observing. She didn't have not one single friend in the village, not even her teammates. She seemed to just tolerate everyone while they shunned her and outcasted her. She didn't ever seemed too fazed by it though, almost as if she was used to it and okay with such treatment.
It angered and upset Itachi, but surprisingly no one had ever put their hands on her. Most people looked at her like she was disease ridden so many just glared from far away and clutched their kids and valuables closer.
She had never been touched,..... until today.
Itachi was watching (Y/n) take her usual peaceful and silent walk home. He did notice that she was extra drained on chakra today, and looked like she could drop any minute. Which already had him on edge but he was soon pushed right off the cliff when a heavily drunk man stumbled over to her caressing her body
Despite the few pushes and slaps you got in he caught your wrists in one hand and was using the other to roam your body. All while placing sloppy, wet kisses on your neck.
In seconds the man collapsed to the ground without as much as a peep. You were thankful of course and you didn't even wanna know why. Just count this as a blessing and run! You thought to yourself. But after the first step you took a tall man in an eerily long coat with red clouds on it appeared directly in front of you.
'Oh great I avoided the flames just to die from the smoke' you thought to yourself
" If you wanna fight, be my guest." you said with your hands in your pockets and looked directly at him with a questioning glare
"No, I just wanted to ensure you're safety." Itachi vaguely answered, feeling as if was going to faint since after months of obsession and stalking he was finally talking to you.
"Why?" you asked, trying to see through him, too bad you weren't a Hyuga.
"Because, you're the teammate of my little brother, and if he is fond of you then so am I. Now may I please escort you home?" Itachi asked bored
'This guy does kinda look like Sasuke but....hotter. He seems pretty strong so I guess I'll go'  you thought quickly and recklessly in your tired state
All you did was nod, but then a thought ran through your head.
' Didn't sasuke say his brother murdered his entire clan and was a rouge ninja, essentially in a gang?!'
But before you could  protest he already had a grip on your arm, performing a transportation jutsu effortlessly.
*YOUR POV*
I opened my eyes immediately to see that I wasn't in my home. Before I could think I heard the heavy steel door shut and lock.
Instant panic.

"Calm down, my love. I put that there so you don't even try and run. We can finally be together, no distractions" He whispered out, coming closer and I moved away
" What the hell are you talking about?! This is all just some sick joke to lure Sasuke out isn't it?" I said the most rational thought in my head
"Quite the contrary, if I wanted Sasuke I would have cut straight to the chase and took him. At first I thought my destiny was to live out my days until Sasuke killed me but once I saw you all that changed." Itachi slowly walked over, grabbing my hands in his. All I could was stare and think
'bruh what the hell did he just say?'
"My new fate is to spend the rest of my days here with you. You are the most important thing to me now. You mean more that the Akatsuki, taming the nine tails....even Sasuke." He confessed lowly which had my eye wide as saucers
I stepped back and snatched my hands from his cold embrace.
"Look I don't know what type of fucked up game you're playing but don't expect me to go along with it. I'm supposed to be your "new destiny" but we've never even met before." I spoke cautiously but still shooting him a glare
"Well we know eachother now and in due time you'll learn to love me, since I'll be the only face you see for a long time..." Itachi smiled and it wasn't even a crazy or fake one, it was.....genuine
'I need to get the fuck ASAP'
"Well except for when you end up carrying my child then of course it'll be all three, or four of us. Though I doubt we'll have more than two." He smirked at me and there was no mistaking that look.....it's lust.
"What do you mean? I would never carry your child or anyone else's for that matter. Also, you killed off your clan, why would I birth more just so could kill them too."
"I would never hurt something me and you created. Especially, in such a sacred way." He put his surprisingly large hand on my cheek and caressed my face.
"Plus, think of them as a gift from me. A reminder of the times we'll share, and that even in death I'm still here. Sasuke always wanted to help revive the clan, I'm just helping him out too. And when I leave this Earth they will serve and protect you. And eventually.... free you."

Hello how are you?🌷, can you write if s/o is being bullied? Let's say she has a very lazy personality who always prefers to sleep (similar to a sakamaki shu character) when people hurt her and she never defends herself because if she defends herself she will kill them completely
The men discover that s/o is the savior who is supposed to save the world of ninjas, she has more strength than kaguya, but she prefers to spend most of her time relaxing, but if the village (or villages) encounter a strong enemy, she is defending the village (so strong that there is no need for any intervention. Ninja in her fight with kaguya, madara or pain) Itachi, Sasuke, Triple Senju , Utakata
I hope I understood this right...
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessiveness, obsessiveness, delusions, paranoia, manipulation, controlling behavior, sabotage, mean behavior
Lazy yet the savior
Hashirama Senju
Tumblr media
🌳Hashirama is overprotective over his darling, no matter how goofy he can be and he takes this dead serious as well so whenever he sees his s/o getting bullied without her defending herself, he gets extremely worried and afterwards whoever did harm her will have to her something from him, though he gives more of an disappointed speech instead of scolding someone seriously unless they hurt his darling. Of course he doesn’t have anything against his darling being more lazy and preferring to sleep, he thinks of it as pretty cute and it reminds him almost of a cat a bit.
🌳That being said, there is a limit to just being lazy and literally doing nothing and whilst Hashirama of course would gladly do anything for his future spouse, his clan and his brother are in that regard a bit stricter and might not like the lazy behavior of yours and whilst Hashirama shields you from all of this, knowing you won’t defend yourself anyways, he also tries to motivate you from time to time to do something so his clan shuts up and is extremely proud of you do. The only thing that he doesn’t like is the way your laziness doesn’t let you stand up for yourself if you’re getting bullied.
🌳Whilst your bullies might be terrified when discovering what you are, maybe because you showed them some of your abilities, Hashirama would be just totally amazed, having originally planned to rescue you once again from those people who are now frozen in fear. This information has of course to be kept a secret, though at the very least the council, his clan, Mito and Tobirama will find out and whoever complained about your behavior before suddenly shuts up about it, realizing that you didn’t do anything because a bit too much power might have ended up booming someone away and those bullies of yours will receive harsher punishment and be forced to keep quiet.
🌳It of course thrills everyone just as much as they start fearing you, knowing how much power you hold, most likely being stronger than Hashirama himself is which earns you a lot of respect since no one from the people who know want to get on your bad side. It doesn’t stop Hashirama from being protective over you though, he continues sometimes making a fuzz over you if you hurt yourself. But he also holds huge respect for you and his worshipper tendencies increase due to know that you’re the chosen one. Of course he also knows that this secret can’t be kept forever, not if he knows you’ll have to leave as soon as some other village is in trouble and whilst the clan and the council might be against you doing your duties, no one can stop you once you’ve decided that the village needs help. It just guarantees for people thinking that you are too powerful to be free or want to get their hands on you which Hashirama won’t let happen if course.
Tobirama Senju
Tumblr media
🌊Looking on how hard-working Tobirama is, he wouldn’t be the nicest to a very lazy darling who constantly prefers to sleep. Of course he doesn’t expect her to work as hard as he does either, the amount he spends working might be a bit unhealthy and he looks after the well-being of his darling quite a bit. But doing the whole day nothing and only sleeping annoys him and Tobirama definitely ends up confronting his darling about her behavior, voicing his disapproval of this and he might just force her into doing at the very least a bit, cleaning the house for example.
🌊Because different from his brother he isn’t as lenient and thinks you have to do something as well, though at the very least you don’t rebel against him and just comply with him. Changing to the topic of being bullied here as well it has to be said that Tobi is overprotective over his darling and whilst he isn’t as soft as Hashi is, he clearly shows that he cares quite a bit about her when giving whoever bullies his darling quite the angry and degrading speech, letting them leave with some sort of punishment. And considering how his darling never defends herself, it causes him to worry and questioning himself if he is being too harsh on her with additionally being bullied from time to time which leads him to be a bit softer.
🌊This is quite the shock for him to discover just as much as it was for your bullies who ran away after having witnessed only a small part of what you can really do, leaving Tobirama’ speechless and completely dumbfounded. He wants a long explanation afterwards where you have to go into the smallest details until he has fully understood what you really are and afterwards he feels quite literally terrified, though also respect for you to be the savior of the ninja world. Overall he realizes two very important things afterwards which will make him feel bad. The first thing is that all this time you were just lazy so you wouldn’t actually hurt someone with your abilities because one wrong touch could have killed all the bullies. He thought all this time you would do nothing when in reality you have to be always prepared fighting against people who are even problems for the Kage of the village.
🌊You carry a greater burden than he does and hold far more responsibility than he does, being there to look over the whole world of the Ninja. Next to that he realizes that you could have killed him without too much troubles and all the guards, but you never did and Tobirama finds himself becoming more careful out of slight fear to anger you. Of course he will keep it a secret at first as well, though his clan, his brother, Mito and the council will find out and the bullies who know as well will have to be taken care of somehow. But he also already thinks of ways how to explain you to the other villages without them wanting you dead or for themselves because he knows that he can’t stop you and he won’t either. This is your duty and he has trust in you.
Tsunade Senju
Tumblr media
🐌Tsunade wouldn’t really mind it if her darling is more lazy and prefers to sleep the biggest part of the day either, as long as this hasn’t have to do with your health in which case she is the perfect person to take care of this. But if it isn’t she’ll just let it slide, though she also tries to motivate her darling to move and do a bit from time to time since not moving around at all is bad for her darling’s health as well, though as long as she is in the green zone, Tsunade won’t push her. She even finds it really cute from time to time and whilst Shizune scolds her sometimes for being so soft with you, she knows that Tsunade is happy and won’t get too much involved.
🐌But despite Tsunade being a caring woman, she is extremely overprotective over her darling as well and seeing her getting bullied without defending herself doesn’t help the woman’s nerves very much and next to being beyond mad at who bullies you, she also starts questioning whether this laziness of yours is just being lazy or if it is something more and she tries to find it out as well, she is a skilled medic after all. Tsunade is just worrying herself a bit too much, knowing you let everything go over you without saying anything or even defending yourself because she knows bullying can have a bad affect on the people’s health.
🐌She’s a bit too stunned at first to really say anything, silence following after you having confessed to the bullies what you are and proving it to them by showing just what you could do them, making them run terrified away whilst Tsunade just stands there frozen. All of her previous angry just fades away. She’s just unsure how to react at first, though she doesn’t really feel scared, knowing you wouldn’t do anything to her which is why she trusts you. She isn’t angry nor scared, just a bit sad you kept this a secret from her all this time, though she also understands why you did so, knowing how important and huge this information is which is why you keep it a secret as well.
🐌But she also finally has an explanation to why you never were motivated to do anything in the first place and Shizune ends up apologizing thinking of you just as a very lazy person afterwards, finally getting that you were just keeping your powers under control. She often gets in arguments with the council and the eldest about this topic since they have different options about what to do with you and whether to keep this secret from other villages or not. They found all out most likely anyways during the fight against Madara and Kaguya where instead of Team 7 you were the one ultimately beating all of them and winning the war which led to a serious talk under all of the Kage afterwards for keeping you a secret all this time.
Utakata
Tumblr media
▪️In general Utakata is a more patient person to have and he is quite understanding as well. He probably wouldn’t mind a darling who is more lazy and prefers to sleep a lot, though he would definitely have those days where he feels like he is doing all the work and would try to push his darling into helping him, even if it is just for a bit, though he is also on the more lazy side from time to time. The big obstacle to overcome with him are just the circumstances and the situation he dragged his darling in, be that willingly or unwillingly. But you probably didn’t put up too much of a fight since you had to be careful with your abilities.
▪️And this puts him in a bit of a tight spot because as much as he doesn’t want to disturb you from sleeping or wanting to take a break since you rarely get those, he is being chased by the hunting-nin and they’re after you just as much since they know that Utakata took you with him, making you a target as well. That means being lazy and not on guard can end dangerous. Utakata is also a very respectful Yandere and he truly can’t stand people who disrespect you as soon as you spend a bit time in town, being mostly targeted due to being so lazy and whilst he knows he won’t have to see those people for too long, it is angering nevertheless.
▪️To be frank, he doesn’t even know how to react at first after you told the bullies what you are, unleashing your chakra a bit and letting them feel the definition of pure power and strength. Utakata himself as a tailed beast inside of him and thought that he had to be the one who had to protect you so getting to know that you are stronger than him and the so called savior of the ninja world is at first a harsh punch in the guts for him. He feels at the begging betrayed, having thought that after spending so much time with you, having known you for so long even before he became a rogue, you would tell him something as important as that since he told you what he is and what happened to him as well. But over everything else Utakata just starts to panic totally on the inside, though trying to remain calm on the outside.
▪️He just realized that the situation became even more tricky and difficult just now because if anyone finds out, the hunting-nin won’t be the only problem because then pretty much everyone will be after you and your powers. And he knows that he won’t be able to protect you against everyone, not like you can’t do it yourself. He was most likely more unwilling to let you save other villages at first since you were the only person he had left which was until you saved him from getting captured by Pain which changed a lot and he might have decided to ask for help from Naruto after having met him only shortly before.
Itachi Uchiha
Tumblr media
🍡Itachi is in many ways pretty sweet to his darling despite having kidnapped her which is why he is so understanding and respectful, being prepared to handle any sort of outburst she might have after he abducted her from her previous small village she lived in. And whilst he might have been initially slightly surprised that she just agreed with all of this, not trying to escape and not putting up much of a fight, he also came to the terms of accepting it quickly, though at first he was a bit more iffy on whether she was bluffing or not. But he realized quickly that she really didn’t plan on escaping which put him under a bit less pressure. He is thankful that he doesn’t have to go with harsher methods.
🍡But he is still not always there, being on missions which can take a lot of time and during such times he is just not able to look after you. Normally he doesn’t really complain about you being just very lazy and sleeping a lot more, he takes care of you in the meantime. But he can’t do that whilst on a mission and he can’t ask someone either which is why he worries a bit when he’s away, though also knowing that you aren’t that dumb to neglect your own health just because you’re lazy.
🍡Being bullied is more unlikely with Itachi since he keeps his darling pretty isolated from others, knowing that by now word must have spread around how important she is to him, a wanted criminal, which puts her in a really tight spot as well so I had a bit of a hard time thinking where he might have encountered them. Itachi is in all honesty more of a pacifist, but seeing you getting bullied without defending you, though it might not come to a surprise for him given your personality. And he was just about to do something when you revealed a shocking truth, proving your words by letting them feel a bit of your power, already stealing from strength beyond beliefs. And this even manages to make Itachi baffled, not having expected this.
🍡He tries to be logical about it though, talking to you afterwards about it and asking you to tell him more, though also not forcing you into anything if you aren’t comfortable with sharing such information with him. And knowing all of this really gives him plenty of stuff to worry about, knowing that if someone finds out it’ll end in a complete chase down where everyone goes after you. He still won’t stop you from leaving after knowing the truth, understanding that it isn’t his right to decide on when you have to go or not, though he is also worried that you have such great responsibility on your shoulders.
Sasuke Uchiha
Tumblr media
💙Being stuck with Sasuke is in general a bit more of a complicated situation since Sasuke is not that nice like his brother is not has the same patience. He is more strict and controlling to have as a Yandere and is quite possessive as well. Next to that he works incredibly hard to get stronger which is why he won’t deal well with laziness like his darling expresses it daily, refusing to train and do anything, instead choosing to sleep. And for Sasuke that is a huge no since he doesn’t want his darling to be weak and do he ends up dragging her out of her comfort zone and forced her to train with him and he won’t go easy either, wanting her to give her all.
💙He senses that she holds herself back and he gets quite often mad at her for being so weak not giving it her all. I mean, you might have tagged along more willingly which made Sasuke trust you more, but he won’t go all soft either. He degrades you a bit for never trying more and wanting to get stronger, though you never seem to mind. But dear Jashin, don’t mess with his darling since Sasuke is more trigger-happy to have as a Yandere which will end fatal for whoever bullied his s/o. It always ends in their death since despite being very mean himself, Sasuke doesn’t tolerate this behavior on others.
💙At the very first Sasuke is just very shocked and confused, needing a while to process what you have just told him, not wanting to really believe it. That is before he becomes temporarily mad at you, not believing that you kept this as a secret from him, especially since you have been with him for years and due to utter irritation he lashes verbally out on you. But after he has calmed down a bit he realizes or the first time why you never thought back once when being bullied and targeted by other people in Orochimaru’s hideout, you would have simply killed him. It makes him also understand why you held back when using to fight against him, not wanting to end up killing him.
💙He doesn’t want to admit it at first, but it earns his respect even more and it ends with him wanting to fight against you whilst you use at the very least a bit of your abilities so he can see where he is and if you beat him without problems, he feels embarrassed. Sasuke still learns not to mess with you be sure even he respects someone with more power than him. This all was increased when he and his old teammates beat under the leadership of you Madara and Kaguya, both very strong persons and afterwards he started regretting his decisions and wondered on whether you would have actually killed him as well if you wouldn’t have known him for so long.

Naruto re-read XV
Chapters covered: 109 - 117 Thirteenth Volume of the manga
Site used: https://manga4life.com/manga/Naruto (VIZ translation of the manga)
Disclaimer: This is intended as a list and simple observations of the topics that particularly interested me in the aforementioned chapters, in that sense, do not expect a linear -or totally deep- analysis.
Tumblr’s update doesn’t allow me to attach more than 10 pictures, therefore, all of them will be LINKED. Apologies.
187) Doesn’t this particular phrase (platoon leader with the ability to protect and safely get one’s soldiers out of danger) contradicts Sakumo’s fate after he chose to save his comrades? On that same page there’s a crucial aspect of every Intelligence Gathering Team (such as Team 10): Besides collecting information, the team must guarantee at least one survivor that can pass on the knowledge (or, at least, a way to communicate the information), none other team is expected to assure such thing; perhaps the reaction of Konoha to Sakumo’s decision comes from the fact that their survival wasn’t as important as the success in their duty. Does that mean that teams such as Team 7, Team 8, and Team Guy are mostly viewed as expendable? (I am aware that all of the soldiers are viewed in such light, I’m specifically referring to such an idea when already inside that “disposable spectrum”).
188) The way Naruto lights up when thinking of Sasuke, lmao, he’s a fan
189) Kakashi is literally the most irresponsible adult amongst Jönin-sensei, he almost makes Sasuke loose due to him not reaching the arena on time, he’s lucky Orochimaru was obsessed enough to ask for more time.
190) I don’t get it (although I know is a comedic sketch), why wouldn’t Ino cheer for Sasuke? Shikamaru’s match finished, what is she supposed to do? Let her cheer for her crush, Chöji!
191) People are shouting “The Last of the Uchiha clan!”, did Sakura truly not know Sasuke was an orphan back when she complained about Naruto or she was just that careless?
192) Quick reminder of Gaara’s killing spree.
193) Why is Sakura asking in front of everyone about Sasuke’s mark?
194) Sasuke is as fast as Lee’s speed (without his weights) after a few weeks of training (it hasn’t been the whole month since he was hospitalized).
195) Did Sakura realize there was a genjutsu in place or did she mimic Kakashi and Guy’s reaction? They were next to her when they released the genjutsu, and were the only ones to be shown to realize there was an illusion in place.
196) “You’re already at Chünin Level. If you consider yourself a Konoha Shinobi, do something useful…” (x)
197) Orochimaru literally says that the Hokage is the one who chooses the next leader. In the same manner, shinobis don’t seem to know the reason behind Orochimaru’s escape, they think is a vendetta against Hiruzen for not choosing him to be the Fourth Hokage. Did Hiruzen truly protect him to the extent of hiding his experiments even after his desertion?
198) Orochimaru saddens at the thought of killing his mentor, yet stabs himself to get past that feeling.
199) Kakashi says that Sakura has a talent for Genjutsu, but we only saw her dispelling one once, at the beginning of the invasion. Sasuke was the one that told her about the Genjutsu in place at the beginning of the Chünin exam. At most, it seems Sakura was talented to release herself and others from a simple genjutsu and nothing else, she never casts one and never does anything with this supposed “talent” ever again (also, see point 195 for further questions about whether Sakura realized there was a genjutsu or she just mimicked the Jönins in the vicinity), it’s possible that Kakashi wanted to “lift her spirits” in order to send her with a high-esteem to the mission.
200) Kakashi is incredibly lucky Shino decided to follow Sakura, Naruto, and Shikamaru.
