#What IS the average age in the hetalia fandom I wonder…

I really don't mean to sound rude but why are you tagging your OCs/country humans stuff with the APH and HWS tags? APH England is not 'Arthur Aldwin', 'Marianne Durand' is not 'HWS France', so I don't know what you think you're doing but please keep it separate. You're free to have OCs but please understand that your OCs and these names you've made up have nothing to do with Hetalia characters. I get that you're young but this is why people find countryhumans fans so annoying. Also 'Mira' is not short for Marianne in English nor in French.

I tag it with my own names for organization on my blog, and I tag it with the hetalia tags because, even though I’m imagining different characters in my own head, it’s still applicable to others, at least in my opinion, so why not share it? The “Mr & Ms worldwide” joke can relate to any personification of FrUK for example (I have seen others that like hws!fem!france)

If theres a specific post that made you think this way, you’re welcome to present it, but if it’s just the names…you’re welcome to not read my tags. I reblog stuff about the hetalia characters while imagining it as my ocs, so I don’t see the issue in posting about my ocs when everyone else can think about hetalia with it. That’s why I (to the best of my memory) don’t get into personality- or family-specific things in the hetalia tags, because those are different characters. except things that do overlap, like both of the Alfreds loving NASA.

I call her Mira because, well, firstly I chose her name and can give her whatever nickname I want. But I do that because I originally gave her a different name that did shorten to Mira for a long time, but then changed it when I found out about the IRL Marianne. In-universe people call her Mira because she did used to have that old name, but changed it during the revolution.

And for the record, I observe my roots in CH, but really the only surviving pieces of it are…france & others being female, and there being more generations of each country. I’m not in the fandom anymore, the only interaction I still have is a few AMVs that were genuinely really good. Hetalia’s pretty much taken its place as the fandom I associate with to have fun with my OC versions.

Here are some posts I’ve made in the hetalia tags, and you’re welcome to explain how these cannot possibly be interpreted as the HWS characters and are instead purely OC-specific.

Alfred, Arthur, Matthew, and Jack have always appeared to be the hws fanon names for them in everything I’ve read, and I got Maria it from other people calling hws!Mexico that. Post 3 is in reference to parts of Alfred’s and Jack’s names; Jack having Kelly in his name was an idea I first got from a hetalia blog. Alfred’s is a part that yes, I did make up, but hey it’s funny and maybe this poster just decided to change the fanon name a little for the sake of this joke. I’m not the only person who uses the main tags while saying their own HC names.

Henlo! You rebloged my post about France in fanfiction and I wanted to reply to it because I found what you said interesting, but because you used just tags would be goofy to reblog it again so I am sending an ask!

I agree about the cannon not helping, the thing is France got better in the cannon, he is more interesting now. I am not very into Prussia so I don't remember if he got better in later parts. But this thing about him being the worst in PruCan fanfic isn't something I noticed in Brazilian Fanfics or maybe I just don't remember lol

I wrote my post at 1 AM and now I stopped to think about what annoys me about how simple and awful Francis' characterization is and I noticed that it simply doesn't have a reason. When I was writing my fic, I wanted to make him bad in a European kind of way, he is France, France really did a lot of shit, he is kind of goofy and useless now? Yes, but that wasn't the case in the Early Modern era.

I also never saw no one exploring his sexuality. Why is Francis overly sexual? Why is he so dramatic? Why is he always trying to get in someone's pants? Real people have reasons to act overly sexual, they aren't just born this way, but WHY I NEVER SEE NO ONE ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS??

Hiii! First, I adore your blog. Thank you for introducing me to the world of TurkFra. My eyes have been opened and my mind widened.

I almost think the fandom needed to go through the "dark times" or "dark age" of character interpretation to get where we are now. I know there was for sure a shift happing when I dipped out of the fandom in 2016ish. And when I started occasionally reading fanfics again during lockdown I was blown away with the shifts regarding the characterization of nearly all the characters.

Totally agree with you 100% about interpreting a character like France in a way where he is bad shit person, because of the actual actions of France. Imo its really important to include things like that into every nations characterizing when engaging in more "real life inspired" characterization. Almost have to wonder if the rise in popularity of historical hetalia has had anything to do with this change. While it was sorta a thing in the early years of the fandom, it didn't really seem to have much of a collective following and community. And now it seems that characters of empires/colonists like France/England/America/Russia etc. have shifted away from being written to have very goofy and comically negative traits more in-line with the 2008-2012ish canon to having their negative traits rooted more in the real-life negative habits or traits of the real world nations. I'd also wonder if the average age in the fandom has gone up which has helped characters simply be better developed.

The "bad touch trio" was super common back in the day. It was France/Prussia/Spain. Pretty much the entire characterization for them all ended up being sex addicts who went around well, SA or SH other nations. That mixed with the very silly "everything is based on basic national stereotypes" vibe of early canon I think just made i so a character like France ("nation of love"/the idea that the French are much more sexually liberated then the English or Americans) was very one-sided even when other charters were getting a little bit better of treatment. I also always felt like France was never as popular in the American/English fandom as American and England. So he (and often Canada) would sorta just thrown into things without much development character-wise.

Good question. Let's clear things up first!

I think of the 1p Hetalians more as official government employees, that serve as the country's representative during international and public meetings. Their abilities as a country are a bit toned down. They get older than the average human, are less likely to fall ill and got way better healing abilities than the average Joe, but other than that they are pretty much human. I think that sounds like a good balance between one extreme (Being immortal) and another ( Being a normal like us sad beans). Basically they are humans with more and better features.

( If we were to stay true to the canon tho, a relationship between reader x hetalia couldn't even be possible, because humans lose their mind when they are around a country for too long)

Now that that's off the table: The 2p!World is like ours, just with mild differences. Or as Ollie explained it in my FF "Behind the Mirrors":

"Every person has a counterpart, lovely. Another version of themselves, so to say~  Instead of counterpart we're rather known as "2P", it sounds more fancy too, doesn't it?"

Think of it as the other world from Coraline.

They look similar to their 1p counterparts but with slight differences. They are their own people with different interests and professions and are totally unaware of their 1p unless they know of their existence due to magic.

If we stick to all of them being the country that they are, their job of being a personification would occupy their time 24/7 and make it extremly difficult for them to live a normal life and have hobbies etc... so what applies to the 1p above, applies to the 2p's as well.

I don't know, but the 2pWorld is constantly in flames when I think about that place. There's always a siren ringing in the distance, a few cars are burning and there's always something going on in addition to slight anarchy hovering in the air.

Since the 2p's got their own life, I doubt that neither the influence of their 1p or their own character qualifies them as public figures of representation (Especially since most 1p's are lawfully good characters). They will pursue their own interests and therfore have different, more common jobs.

For example:

• I'll go with the fandom and headcanon Oliver as a Baker, because that dude can bake like a god. He owns his own bakery and all sort of people stop by to get his treats.

• Allen is a mechanic, because he got mad talent when it comes to repairing bikes and cars. He could talk all day about it too.

• Ya remember how I never explicitly elaborated on Luciano's "business"? His headcanons mention a lot of "family business" and "tradition" and how many people work under him, but I never ever stated that dear Luciano or the Vargas family are a bunch of mobsters.

They actually run a grocery market.

There you have it. It's a family that runs a very popular local grocery market in Venice.

That idea was actually meant as a joke, while I was thinking about Luciano Hc's but then that image of Luciano in this green work apron- standing in the middle of an aisle and yelling at a Karen, that he "owns this fucking place" didn't leave me.

It would make sense too, you know? Running a grocery store and growing up learning the value of fresh food and good cooking could explain Luciano's affinity for good cuisine and his high standards for food items.

Dealing with difficult costumers from a young age could explain where he got his charming behaviour/ bad temper from and also explain his unknown liking to naturally kind and modest people. ( Because kind costumers, that are not pushy are the best)

That' only crack though, like I once mentioned, he'd also make a great film and play director.

What's even the difference between 1p and 2p?

Since I was just talking about 1p/2p's Imma do this question too, they follow up quite nicely.

Everyone kinda has a different opinion on 2p's, for some they are plain evil and for others they are just normal characters from another universe. Sometimes they live in the same universe and can potentially meet, so this whole topic is up for everyone to decide on their own.

As I previously stated thoughl, I view the 2p's as inhabitants of a parallel universe that looks like ours. Think of it as the Other World from the film Coraline!

Some say that the personality of the 2p's are the total opposites of the 1p's but I beg to differ. Just because they are 2p's doesn't mean they have to be bad people. They are their own person, that was raised in a different environment and got just as many flaws as our 1p's.

1p and 2p can never meet unless magic is involved.
