I know the swings and understudies are fantastic, I saw the show last night loved Dylan as the Duke sound just like Tam but I’m sorry Ericka is not Arabia just did not like her in that role. I thought she was the understudy to Baby Doll? Just your thoughts if you saw Ericka play Arabia.

We have actually seen Ericka as Arabia twice now and we loved her performance - she has a gorgeous voice & a very fun energy. Her Arabia is not a carbon copy of Holly's but that's exactly why we love seeing understudies go on with their own interpretation of the roles. 💕💕💕

The Moulin Rouge was seeing STARS last night (1/18/2020)! Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka! Faith Hill & Tim McGraw! Mariska Hargitay & Peter Herman! Annaleigh Ashford & Joe Tapper! So much love for these amazing artists! We hope they all enjoyed the show!

when a stand in takes over in the middle of a show do they tell the audience or do they try to have them not notice?

I believe if possible (i.e. before the show starts or during intermission) they are required to let the audience know if someone is going on for a named roled (lead or supporting). If a swing has to go in for an ensemble member though I do not believe they usually make an announcement. Yesterday they did make an announcement before the end of intermission that the role of Satine would be played by Ashley Loren for the remainder of the show.

Yes right before Act 2 started they came over the speaker system and said that for the remainder of the show the role of Satine would be played by Ashley Loren.

At the 8pm New Years show, they changed players for Satine after the intermission. It was played by Ashley Loren in the second half. Does anyone know what happened? This seemed a bit unusual.

We were actually at the show last night when this happened. We are not sure what happened with Karen. She seemed absolutely fine throughout Act 1. She sounded amazing and did not appear to have any noticeable issue or injury. There wasn’t any obvious mishap on stage. We’re hoping it was only something minor. But, this is the very reason they have a standby—Ashley came in for Act 2 and was amazing!

So I am. Why excited that I have gotten tickets to see MR in March!!! I assume they are good seats to be dead center second row mezzanine? I am really short and just want to make sore I h w good views but ask feel somewhat close to the action! Am I in a good place?

Yay! We’re so glad you get to see the show in March! Yes! Sitting in the mezzanine will give you an excellent, full view of the stage. Sitting in the second row, center of the mezzanine is a great way to be a part of the action with a complete view of everything going on. One of us is pretty short and don’t feel like its an issue unless the person in front of you is a giant haha. If you get there and you feel you are too short to see properly, you may ask an usher for a booster cushion. They have extra cushions available to give patrons that may be a little shorter a lift in their seat.

Does Aaron perform in the Thursday matinee?

Hello!

Aaron is scheduled to go on as Christian at every show, barring any illness or injury or other unforeseen circumstances. He will however be out of the show the week of February 25th to March 1st and therefore will be out Thursday, February 27th for a preplanned vacation. That is the only Thursday we are aware he will not be performing. Be sure to check our Pre-Planned Cast Days Off Highlight or Understudy Dates Highlight on our Instagram page, moulinrougefanfanfans, as we update those daily as information becomes available!
