Train Derailment Chaos: Over 40 Trains Cancelled in Maharashtra's Palghar

A goods train derailment at Palghar railway station in Maharashtra on Tuesday evening has led to significant disruptions in railway services. The Western Railway has announced the cancellation of over 40 trains, including the Dahanu Road-Panvel-Vasai Road and Vasai Road-Panvel-Dahanu Road routes.

According to railway authorities, five wagons of the goods train derailed, prompting immediate action to manage the situation. "Dahanu Road-Panvel-Vasai Road, Vasai Road-Panvel-Vasai Road and Vasai Road-Panvel-Dahanu Road trains are fully cancelled after wagons of a goods train derailed at Palghar. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted," stated the Western Railway.

In addition to the cancellations, several trains have been partially cancelled, diverted, or rescheduled due to the derailment. Mumbai Suburban locals to and from Dahanu Road have been cancelled until 12 noon.

The impact of the derailment extends beyond cancellations, with tracks and overhead equipment suffering significant damage. Full restoration of traffic on the busy Mumbai-Delhi trunk route is expected to take several hours.

No casualties were reported from the incident, but the disruption has inconvenienced thousands of commuters. The railways are working diligently to restore normalcy, but travelers are advised to check for updates and make alternative arrangements as necessary.

Mumbai Mask Fine: BMC collects over Rs 60 crore in fines from people not wearing face masks in public | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Friday that it has so far collected over Rs 60 crore as fines from people not wearing masks in public places since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the civic body, a fine of Rs 60,48,34,400 was collected between April 2020 and July 2021. This amount is inclusive of the fines collected by the Mumbai Police and the Railways as well till July 15. The civic body had made it mandatory to wear masks in public places last year. Citizens who don’t follow face mask rules in public places are fined Rs 200 by the BMC. A fine of Rs 51,90,23,400 has been collected by the BMC, while the Mumbai Police has recovered a fine of Rs 8,07,71,800. A fine of Rs 50,39,200 has been collected from those travelling on Central, Western and Harbour railway lines. Meanwhile, immunization drives at government centres will operate till 5 pm on Friday. Citizens above 18 years of age can take the Covishield first and second dose, while healthcare workers and frontline workers can get the second dose of Covishield. Those beneficiaries above 45 years of age, can take the first and second dose of Covishield at drive-in centres. The BMC categorically mentioned that 50 per cent of doses will be given to people with online appointments, and 50 per cent is for on-spot registration. The second dose of Covishield vaccine will also be administered to those travelling from Mumbai to foreign countries for jobs and education or participating in Tokyo Olympics. BMC stated that the second dose will be given only if citizens have completed 28 days post first dose. They will need to carry the necessary documents like admission confirmation letters and I-20 or DS-160 forms for foreign visas. Also, on-spot registration will be done. The civic body has urged people to carry the certificate of the first dose. According to the BMC's health department, a total of 63,00,050 citizens have been inoculated against coronavirus in the metropolis till Thursday. Of these, 13,98,557 beneficiaries have received the second dose as well, the BMC said. Our India's first solar powered DEMU train 74033 Delhi Sarai Rohilla 🔄 Farukhnagar. __ This was first time in the world that solar panel are being used as grid in railways. This train has 16 solar panels installed on roof 6 coaches and each panel produces 300wp. Not enough to run train solely on this but definitely enough for lights and fans.
